I remember perfect teamwork in solo queue with a nice Dwight. After the other 2 were dead, I 99'd the gate. Then PH caged poor Dwight on the opposite side of the map. He was a good teammate so I thought YOLO let's go try! I get the save and we almost make it back to my 99'd gate when PH downs me. Instead of leaving me behind Dwight flashlight saves me so we both get out. Was on Switch so no chat but we became friends and play regularly together. 😁

Pay attention in the pre game lobby is my best tip. It helps to prepare properly. If they are coördinated they usually have the same cosmetic or character, bring the same item, have similar names. If they come prepared you should too.
4 flashlights? It's lightborn time.😎 It took a coördinated squad the entire game before they figured out I had this giving me 2 kills and 2 dc... I love all the flashlight save attempts since I get 10sec aura reveal resulting in a down. Combine with mad grit and they get a nasty surprise when flooding the hook. I'm careful not to show I have mad grit until a good opportunity comes up.
They are all the same desperate for flashlight saves/ flooding hooks/ body blocking/ taking meta perks and assuming you took 4 meta perks as well. It is easy to predict what they will do, it's just not easy facing them because as a killer you're alone and they are with 4.

If you don't start recording your games you can't do anything against hackers. BHVR needs video evidence to actually do something about it. I have reported and although it does take a while BHVR does ban players that are reported with the proper evidence. It is a bit of work but if it is clear as day that they are hacking I'd rather get them out of the game since they are ruining the fun.
-
I put in pig as too weak, I feel a few tweaks would make her amazing. The rng is terrible and you have to either have inexperienced players or a dirty playstyle to get reversed beartrap kills. It makes me sad that the 'party hats' are mostly to slow down the game. I love her dash since it does take skill but doesn't have a steap learning curve. Facing her is fun for me.
Too oppressive I put in plague since I hate playing against her and also dislike playing her. I wouldn't mind a complete remake. If you don't cleanse you are one shot and if you do she gets ranged shots... She is horrible to face in solo queue because you need a bit of coördination if you don't want to be annihilated. I usually get teammates that cleanse in the area with all the unfinished gens making it easy pickings.
-
Last gen almost done and the killer finds me working on it. I take a hit finish it in their face and adrenaline away. Got a lot of salt for that one.
-
A shame you didn't record this. I came across a hacker a month or 2 ago, I recorded he got banned.😁 I was playing survivor as well but had clear sight on several things he did to prevent the killer from grabbing/hooking/downing him. I record everything and just delete the random vids.
-
The two urban evading clauds that thought it would be funny to hide after the other two are dead... Unlucky for them that after 10 minutes I spot a flashlight sticking out from behind a tree.
I also really love BBQ since I've spotted loads of clauds crouching on top of the hatch after hooking their last teammate. Not helping the team gets punished.
And I've also been selfcared to death on hook to many times to count.
-
Lightweight goes great with dance with me/ lithe/quick and quiet. If you break line of sight during a chase and vault something you escape most of the time.
The effect: Vaulting without noise notification; 150% speed for 3 seconds without scratch marks + scratch marks after that disappear 3 seconds earlier than normal. You can even lose experienced killers with this since almost nobody expects this build.
-
It kinda counters deadhard so I use it in fun no meta builds. I like pairing with bloodecho and mindbreaker; no exhaustion perks allowed.😋 The unrelenting is for pesky deadhard if they aren't affected by the other perks. 4th perk I switch between the info perks. Everyone knows unrelenting isn't the best but it does take some survivors by surprise.
-
I don't care if someone does that. I do it when someone is crouching nearby and the killer is across the map to encourage a faster unhook, if it gets me a kobe that's great.
-
As a killer it makes patrolling ridiculously easy I can hear from a few meters extra if they are working on a gen or not. It's a huge time saver i'm starting to think this is the bhvr solution for genrushing.🤔
-
I was playing kate vs a clown. I was looping him around a T and L wall and after vaulting a window he lost me. He thought I jumped in the locker and while I was observing him from behind the corner he started throwing bottles/ hitting the locker/ baiting the non existent head on. It went on so long 2 gens popped and he still didn't leave.🤣 Eventually he checked the locker and just stood there forever thinking he messed up bad.
-
Don't let them decide how you play. These kind of teams try to lure you into doing their bidding do not take the bait. Clicky-clicky? No follow. Tea bagging? Just continue with your game plan they lose distance when they do that. Be patient at hooks they are most likely in the area so patrol before leaving. Never chase to long or else the gens will pop uncontrollable. Keep your cool you only need a mistake from them to capitalize on. They are probably using all the meta perks don't fall for them.
And the best thing you can do is pay attention before the game starts. Example: I had a full Claudette load out with similar looking names so I equipped a mori just in case it went south. Well let's say they turned out to be urban evading clauds who brought an ormond offering against my hag so all traps were useless. Got 2 mori kills and the last 2 dead after they 99 the gate (1 on hook with the last one making a really bad safe attempt). I had to play just as dirty as them for the win since I was revert to a no traps M1 killer. But I see it as a challenge it could have ended both ways.
In your case I would have chased that scout of the ruins and patrol those 2 gens heavily, they either keep swarming those or disappear and that is the time to check gen 3... This is a team that goes around the map like a herd, if they split up to do gens you are probably screwed since you are out of time.
-
Ormond is known to be survivor sided that being said it takes a lot of experience and a bit of luck. You can have bad map RNG making it even worse.. The best tip I have is don't dc but keep practising. A win on Ormond feels amazing! A loss? O well the odds were against me so better luck next time.
You could consider to sacrifice a perk slot for predator and collect a load of Ormond offerings so you can learn the scratch mark places. After you get comfortable; stop using predator and now you know where to look for the scratches.
Playing a killer that can stop chases quick also helps, I'm getting good results with hag on Ormond.
-
I actually like what they did to it, I disliked the winning design and would never buy/use that. This however is a pretty design imo. They do have the right to change stuff about the initial design so I'm not surprised they did since there are a lot of people who dislike the original. Although it feels strange that they went out and about to change loads of things about it and not just pick another winner....
-
IMO it's fair the game has many things you find out the hard way. Blinding legion out of frenzy is just one of those. Yesterday I got a reversed bear trap kill with the pig because a purple rank survivor did not know that you can't leave through the exit gate while it's active. It's harsh but you'll never make those mistakes again.
-
I've noticed this too. It's really annoying for killers that need set up time as well. I trap the gens/ path ways near my spawning area first as hag since I don't want spying survivors with flashlights around....
-
Have you seen the repair 16 gens challenge... I personally equipped everything for a genrush so it would be done in 4 games to reduce the grind. I don't think I'm the only one so if this is the case it will get better again.
-
I think a dc doesn't count as a kill. It certainly doesn't for tome challenges so I feel like MMR is the same.
-
Snow blindness on Ormond.🤣 I can hardly see 2 gens in that first picture and nothing but a tiny red dot in the second. I feel like wandering around almost aimlessly now the auras are bugged. All aura reading perks are kinda useless on ormond now. Totems are also horrible to spot with detective's hunch, I burn through my map since spotting something takes longer than normal. Fingers crossed they fix this soon.
-
I think they should not give everyone the opportunity to get the original legacy outfits since so many people would get upset that it would lose the exclusivity. I would love it if they made legacy outfits for the newer original characters tho. Make it a challenge to unlock those and leave the original legacy a bragging right. I don't own any legacy btw.
-
I like them but I am also guilty for having a christmas tree up in july.😂 I guess I don't look at them often enough.
-
I feel like it's partially the grind and MMA system. I think they need to revisit the tutorial, you learn only basic survivor mechanics but nothing about the killers. You'll have to figure that out along the way. This worked when there weren't so many different killers but now it will take quite some time to vs every killer let alone figure out how to counter. It is ridiculous that new players go down to deep wound, hide against killer instinct, stare down myers, try to leave the exit gate with an active beartrap etc just because they don't know. You learn the hard way which can be unfun. If you don't immeadiately realise why you died/ went down you will make that mistake again.
I've started on console and now also play on pc working up again. I know my killers from my console experience and it is staggering to see how punishing the low ranks are because of the lack of knowledge the tutorial gives you. People going down to deep wound is just sad. And with myers the whole team gets cucked because someone fed him his tiers by accident.
New players come for the gameplay and iconic chapters but struggle with the steep learning curve.
-
That sounds like it works as intended. You play a new killer so your ranking is low which causes you to get low ranking survivors. Since you win easily you'll probably will get more experienced survivors soon. If you play a killer you always pick and are good at the matchmaking will pick better skilled survivors. Give it more time it's still getting tested.
-
I don't get why survivors do this if you're defeated just take it and move on. Got a situation like this on father campbell's chapel with a 3 gen I had line of sight on with minimal movement; 2 left who were urban evading/fixated speed walking around. I eventually found one in a corner and thankfully had BBQ to end this madness. I just take defeat as survivor; I had 5 gens spawning on one side of azarov's yesterday which is unwinnable, but I'm not gonna hide and do nothing. I report it with video evidence they know what they're doing even if they claim they don't. Come on over an hour! that's not normal gameplay and they know it.
-
Step 1: Ignore your rank. The ranking system is broken you know so being rank 1 doesn't mean someone is good or bad just that they play enough to get there and are somewhat decent to stay in red ranks. The basic gameplay is the same if your rank 20 or rank 1, remember that.
Step 2: If after game chat bothers you that much just close it so you don't see possible toxic messages. If they send you stupid things on steam just set your profile on private to stop it.
Step 3: Play a killer you really like and set alternate goals that feel like a win for you. Could be collect 4 BBQ stacks, or get 1 kill, or get progress on a tome challenge, or make a fun perk build and try to pull something of like making dark devotion work or something. I switch up my build or else I get bored.
And one last tip if t-bagging annoys you; I play ghostface to return the favour and get a laugh out of it. Nothing more fun then t-bagging back at the exit gate or when you finally down that really cheeky survivor with the flashlight clicks.
-
8-10 m is way to far away to punish a killer like that. If the team is dumb enough to take a chase around someone on the hook they deserve the consequence. Facecamping happens within 1-2m range, a good team punishes the killer for it. In solo I see kindred more often lately making solo teams stronger against a facecamper. If the devs want to change anything at all about it I think what they did to the cage of atonement would maybe happen; spawn on another hook if the killer stays near. I don't mind facecamping that much, it's a strategy and a bad one so I just hang on to give the team time.
-
I'm really happy with switch/steam cross-progression since I have much more progress on switch and recently got dbd on steam. I think they also chose switch since it's relatively new so less accounts to get through cross-progression. If it all goes well I expect it to come through for the other consoles as well, keeping my fingers crossed for you guys that microsoft and sony will allow it.
-
You can find players on the DBD discord when you want to play together or practice specific things. A break can also be refreshing and make you come back stronger. Hope to see you in the fog soon though.
-
It takes a long time to finish the rift completely. I'm a casual player and I came up short 9 tiers for what I wanted so I bought those on the last day. I ended on tier 66. I'm okay with the last rift but want some QOL changes. I feel like it would be a better mechanic if you could equipt a killer challenge and a survivor challenge simultaneously. And a heads up notification when you ready up without a challenge. I sometimes start without a challenge or with one from the other side. Doesn't happen often but when it does you don't play optimal timewise. I hope the challenges won't get more grindy because things like hook x amount of different survivors/ cleanse x amount of totems take a minimum of 3/4 games. When you take queue times into consideration you'll have to play alot.
-
Leatherface is getting a nice rework soon but isn't easy right now. GF is a good choice with the stealth, his stalk is utterly broken making it really hard to break him out as survivor if you keep crouching behind ridiculous things like grass. I main legion and he requires some mindgaming to get the second hit, you can lose distance easily if you make a mistake. I love legion but I must say he takes time to properly learn so stick with them till you master their ability or pick someone easier first.
It will take time to recognize strong areas and deadzones. Try to look for the pallets/windows if there are plenty it is strong if not it is weak. A deadzone is an area without pallets/windows. Try zanshin tactics for a while it helps recognizing good areas to chase.
Since you're having a hard time with the core chase mechanic I can say that if you get good with legion you have mastered it since they basically are an M1 killer when it comes to actually downing survivors. Consider learning an easier strong killer first, I myself love doctor. If you get you're timing right with the shock you can deny window vaults/pallet drops which cuts chases short. It will take time to get proper game sense but it will come. You can also go into KYF with someone and just practice chasing. An hour doing this while using voicechat can help identify where you are going wrong.
-
I had a similar situation with a pig yesterday; closing hatch in my face and standing over me forever. Then picking up just before I bled out letting me open gate after wiggling out and downing again. If only that unreliable deadhard works when you need it I would have escaped. Really annoying when you have to wait that long for a game to end. I don't report this unless it is really bad and clearly reportable. Start recording all your games so you can back up a report with evidence because this really helps out. In the end they will face the consequences for their behaviour especially if reports start stacking for someone and are justified.
-
If they did non stop events it would burn me out eventually. I've played another game for years until they did this. I felt overwhelmed and couldn't play enough to keep up. I always had the feeling of missing things because everything was limited! Things added for the base game were unfun since I had to choose to not do an event to play basekit causing stress. I've quit playing because of this. So no please keep the limited events like they are now for DBD.

@Equus But i cant catch them even when im not trying to mindgame. After looping me 3 times through the window and droping pallet at me they just run to another tile. Im really trying to do my best, there's always weaker player in group and i can snowball by hooking him first. But right now im just in a place where there is no weak link in groups. I just got 4 matches in row when i didnt hook anyone once. Im not talking about sacrifice! I just couldnt hook anyone! 4 games in row! That's really pathetic and makes me wanna leave that game forever.
I dont want easy matches, but i'd love to have at least 1 fun game everyday. I feel like im missing something when it comes to chasing. DS, Sprint Burst and Dead Hard should be my problems, not survivor running in straight line :D I know there are many good players who are playing this game mainly to loop with killers and are really good at it. But majority of community is probably more casual and even they're making me look like a tool. Im not blaming the game, because when im playing survivor i meet a lot of killers who can finish chases in 10-20 sec. Im blaming my lack of skill and this whole thread is to help me somehow improve. I've seen youtube videos that were posted in this thread (how to run specific tiles) and i added that knowledge to my gameplay, but it didnt help me much, it made chases even longer.
What killer do you pick? If you are playing with a killer that has a steep learning curve or is overall considered a weaker killer you are making it hard for yourself. Furthermore this sounds like you start a chase when the survivor has already spotted you from quite a distance. If they see you early then the chase will be a long one since the survivor gets to a strong tile before you can cut them off. Don't start a chase in strong areas with lots of pallets/ windows.
Also approach from a weird angle. When you know a survivor is there (because a perk like whispers) use that info before they spot you. Meaning that if you think they are in the jungle gym go around and get in from behind or from the side that gives them another good tile. You block off the escape route this way and/or surprise them giving you a hit or at least a shorter distance in the chase.
And think about what those killers you are facing are doing differently than you are. They end chase fast if you figure out their tactics you can copy. Don't give up, killer can be quite unforgiving when you're learning skills and just want to have fun. I think good perks will be your solution. There is nothing wrong with using meta perks, they are meta for a reason. A good strong perk build can come in crutch to cut chases short and get a kill in the end. If you miss melee attacks use unrelenting until you know when to hit.
I know loads of people are negative about using NOED but I see it as training wheels. Getting no hooks 4 games in a row is really disheartening. I feel no shame in using NOED on killers I'm still learning. After a while you will more often than not win games without ever getting to the endgame so NOED does nothing... When that happens you know you've got skills and can swap it with something else. Just close endgame chat because of the salty comments from survivors who without shame use strong perks themselves.
-
Survivors are technically all the same so swapping them out if you get cakes on them isn't going to effect gameplay. Killers are all different and if you level them for the perks and only play one or two then you're cakes are gonna run out quicker.
I find it more irritating too get tunneled when I put up a cake then someone not using a cake though. Such a waste to only get aqround 10k points multiplied because you couldn't do anyhting else besides looping the killer around.
-
I sometimes miss it because the sound from hooking makes the skillcheck sound less noticeable. Or the 'bubble' from the hook is on my skillcheck so I can't see it properly. I also tend to look at the hook to determine my distance so I can decide what to do next, this causes divided attention --> skillcheck is harder.
-
Never say never, they might come up with a character I can't resist. That being said I thoroughly enjoy The Legion, it is so thrilling to turn a bad match around with a good FF. For survivor I picked Kate when I started playing because I love her style. I do stray from both my mains but end up picking them the most.
-
It's a good rework. I especially love that they added firecrackers even though I don't see them often. Now I just need a survivor perk that stops firecracker blinds so I don't mess myself up or that nice teammate trying to help but instead blinding me while I'm in chase LOL. Would equip it during events that grant those pesky firecrackers.
I don't use lightborn often cause looking down usually fools them to get a hit in (survivors can't see looking down as easily as looking up). But with the new lightborn I'll give it a chance when I see a flashlight squad. I'm always excited to try out new or changed perks.
-
Killers with BBQ act a certain way you need to pay attention. You can figure out they have it when they head straight for you after hooking someone. Or when you are in the proximity and you see the killer do a 360 after hooking. I remember and then counterplay it with the tips mentioned above. In solo queue I often bring kindred and with that you can see the killer heading straight for you or a teammember while you are miles away which is a dead give away they have BBQ.
I don't recommend hiding in lockers just in case because if they don't have BBQ you'll have wasted valuable time for nothing. Figure out their perks and then try a counterplay.
-
It seems to me that you need to mindgame less since you are tricking yourself which gives the survivor distance. At least until you pick up the basic chase skills than you can work on the mindgames. When you're still learning how to chase you need to capitalize more on bloodlust so do NOT get stunned or break pallets (otherwise you'll lose bloodlust). Only break them if the loop is safe otherwise chase them away from it or around it. With bloodlust you can close the gap you're now unable to.
Have you invested some hours in survivor? Because that will teach you loads about how to chase. Cutting chases short is about predicting the path the survivor will take and cutting them off. I try to think about what I would do if I was the survivor; this helps alot. Also think about window vaults; never chase them around in a way they can fast vault, switch direction to force them into a slow vault so you get a hit or they are forced to abandon this loop.
Furthermore capitalize on line of sight, this is also why you should play survivor to know what they can and can't see. Sometimes just stand still and they will run into you, especially when you break line of sight while looping a wall or big rock. If you're intending to double back during a loop do it at the pallet when it's still up, it will block the view of the survivor if you're a small killer like legion/hag/pig and they'll lose their distance giving you a hit.
Also stick to one killer when you start because learning a killer's ability will take you some time. I recommend wraith when you first start since he is great at that first hit so you only have to chase for the final down. He also has great add ons to help like 'the ghost soot' which is brown so common in bloodwebs and hides the red stain and terror radius for 6 sec after uncloaking. Combine that with the bone clapper (only yellow so quite common) and you're absolutely lethal at loops. Read up on the add ons they help if combined well.
Good luck!
-
I love the 'If it glows it goes' quote.😁
-
It's situational but you can do the stealth you see in the trailer. Every time I get a Nea in that checkered red outfit I put on the similar looking outfit from the latest rift. Then equipt dark devotion to lose the terror radius after stabbing the obsession. I get at least 1-2 sneaky hits because they think I'm Nea. If the team doesn't catch on early on what I'm doing I get more sneaky hits. It's really fun walking towards a gen without spooking anyone.
-
Got that totem spawn today and couldn't cleanse it either.
-
I think it would be wise if you just play and don't buy the rift immediately. Just see how far you get and if you feel like the tiers you got are worth your money buy it on the last day. Now it will probably feel less grindy. I myself pick what cosmetic I want and decide if it's doable for me and if it's worth buying the whole rift.
-
Kate because I like her style and that horse christmas sweater.🤩
-
If you follow the 'survivor's rulebook for killers' then you will lose consistently. You're only task is to keep enough pressure on generators to buy time to kill the survivors. It doesn't really matter how you play you will get salty messages even if you play nice. What you're talking about isn't tunneling and even if it was it's a strategy. Tunneling is targeting one survivor till they are dead while ignoring everyone else. Don't let those players tell you how to play because they are being mean. Watch good content creators on youtube/ twitch to help you learn how to play in a way that is fun for you.
The only rules you should follow are these:

Depends on the situation; which map is it, doors close together or not, what killer is it, the perks I have, did I spot the hatch earlier...
-I like camping an exit gate switch so I can immediately open it and escape when the hatch is closed. Sometimes I open it till the letter e so the light won't show that I touched it, then hide till the killer checks it and open it when he has left. Spine chill comes in clutch if the doors are close together.
-I also like searching chests with plunderers instinct for a key while keeping an eye on the area the killer is in so I can reopen the hatch after it's closed.
-If I get spotted I'll try for an around the map chase so I can look for hatch.
I almost never search for the hatch without having an idea where it's at because the killer is likely to either spot you or finds it first since their mobility is better. I always try to get out and not give an easy 4k because I like the challenge of 1vs1.
-
We'll see how popular it becomes, I'll give it a try but am not that excited. I play solo mostly so to use the unbreakable effect I would have to defend that hex totem against my teammates instead of the killer keeping everyone off....😂
