Wow amazing🤣 It secretly is a killer perk you know to get pallets out of the way.
-
The tutorial is in dire need of a rework. I adopted steam after playing on switch for months so I feel your point. When you are not truly new it is painfully clear. DBD is learned the hard way and that is bad enough but if you don't realize why something happened without using google it is unacceptible. Things like going down from deepwound, trying to leave with an active RBT, staring back at Myers; I've seen that multiple times below green ranks. Even now while I'm back in red ranks on both sides I sometimes see these mistakes since I get paired with a green rank.
There is nothing about the status effects in the tutorial. Nothing about the killer powers, nothing about perks. I've been accused of hacking because they knew nothing about killer instinct.
-
All the changes made after the PTB are listed here: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/207426/design-chapter-18-changes#latest
The changes won't all be implemented today.
-
Those dreaded tome challenges! Why are there so many for survivor! I need that new legion cosmetic on the rift so I'll have to get those survivor challenges if I don't wanna play day and night to make up.
On a normal day I try to play 50/50 but I'm more drawn towards killer lately. Survivor is fun but after a few horrible matches due to teamwork failure I go back to killer. If I want to relax I play my main killer with a build I'm comfortable with.
-
I'm not gonna get the new chapter immediatly I'm still 2 chapters behind... I just P3'd my first killer and I'm working towards max perks. I'll get the twins once they get the promised update, plenty to do in the meantime. 😁
-
The first time in a match it does catch me off guard sometimes, but yes after enough time spend as survivor hitting that skillcheck ain't that hard. It does prevent gen tapping to stop it regressing, although I almost never use it.
I do have nice overcharge memories tho; I remember a hilarious match when I was still in low ranks with a trapper that kept coming back kicking the gen and me hiding behind a hook in the corn like 5m away. He never caught on I blame corn blindness combined with confusion because I hit the overcharge skillcheck like 5+ times in a row. And I still have a clip somewhere of me hitting an insane backwards mini skillcheck caused by the doctor's impossible skillcheck build, that's really satisfying. So I would say it's situational/ build dependant and works best in lower ranks.

I find this to be a very saddening perspective.
Sure, we all have our own personal ideas of what changes/improvements we’d like to see implemented.
But I don’t pretend to presume how a game studio is run, or speculate on the multitude of challenges specifically related to DBD each employee at BHVR deal with on a day to day basis.
Here are a few thoughts I will share from my collective wisdom being a borderline geriatric.
- This game has come a long way. A HUGE way. From the large pool of perks, a growing roster of new killer powers, more maps, and changes to balance across a range of gameplay factors. None of these changes can be implemented without IDEAS. Ideas are only borne from thinking deeply and frequently about a concept (their product: DBD). People don’t expend that kind of mental energy on things they don’t care about. Anybody claiming that there is no labor of love from BHVR are fooling themselves.
- For anybody continuing to play this game then it’s good enough, no matter how many different ways that player says “it’s not good enough”. If you play it, and play it regularly, that action alone says you’re happy enough with the current state of the game.
- It’s madness to presume that due to long standing bugs persisting in this game that the devs don’t care, or can’t be bothered. Just go back and look at all the patch notes. You only need to look at a small number to see that the team that do bug fixes are extremely dedicated. Wherever a fix has been possible, they have implemented it. By that knowledge it’s reasonable to guess that these long running problems are still presenting significant challenges. Perhaps the range of fixes they’ve tested so far have caused more problems than they fix? Who knows. What I can safely presume is that they DO care, and they DON’T ignore bugs.
- Lastly, I know for a fact that nothing demotivates anyone, and eventually leads to them giving up entirely, quite like a constant implied flood of “not good enough”. These forums, and social media channels, good grief, I feel TERRIBLE for the mods here. I’m sure there is a lot here the mods choose NOT to forward onto the devs because of how mentally damaging some of it would be. This constant implication of “the devs don’t care”, but then there is so much de-motivational stuff posted every minute that it doesn’t matter how resilient the people at BHVR are, they WILL eventually stop caring. If we want them to continue caring, we need to stop posting stuff that would lead them down a path of no longer caring.
Well said! I thoroughly enjoy DBD almost every day that's why I voted for them to win this reward. I love this game bugs and all. I feel their love for this game every livestream and I see their effort in the patchnotes. The way the game looks and feels now is a big upgrade even compared to a year ago. I feel the devs do deserve this award.

Happened to me a couple of times; someone made a report I upvoted it: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/202725/premature-loading-of-1-or-2-players-resulting-in-match-abortion#latest
I've had a match where my team was already working on the gen next to me while I'm loading in. Another match I could hear the heartbeat approach while I was still stuck loading in. All those matches canceled after a min or so of gameplay.
-
I think it is also caused by the tome. There are more survivor challenges than there are killer. I also go through my killer challenges much faster since I can decide my entire role for that match. When I do surtvivor challenges I either have to compete against 3 people or get someone to work with me. So not only do I have more surivor challenges they tend to take longer causing me to queue up more often.
-
I play solo queue most of the time so I have loads to tell...
- Watching everyone selfcare on the opposite end of the map while slowly going into second state.
- Running the killer a long time only to get left behind because everyone is way too scared to come and get me
- 2 min chase, no gens get done, get hooked; O that's why they are all urban evading looking for totems.
- Getting blocked in a corner when I'm cleansing a totem until the killer comes, apparently they wanted that totem...
- Stealing my item out of a chest
- Me on hook, chase happening around my hook...Why!?
- 1 on hook, 1 slug, me gesturing come here!!! But nope slug does not move giving the killer no reason to leave.
- Bringing the killer towards my gen only for me to find out in the endgame screen he did that on purpose using bond
- Run off while I have we'll make it, because healing in a corner is better
- Not taking the hit for me while I gave you borrowed time and I'm already injured
- Not going for the unhook after I take chase letting the one on the hook go into second state because a gen is more important
- Blocked in a corner until my reversed beartrap ended my match
- Pointing at my locker while the killer is right there
- Vaulting the window next to me a thousand times to attract the killer while I'm busy with a hex and than try blocking my escape route
- Last 2 alive, let's do nothing at all and hide for hatch. I'm not the one hiding so I guess I'll die
- Crawling towards hatch, teammate takes chase right over my location pushing my survival odds to zero.
Some of these I did report, others are just misplays. Never a dull day in solo.😎

Survivors were pretty meta, apart from the random self-care in there.

This is why one of my most used perks on legion is bloodecho since I'm done with deadhard extending a chase that I already won by skill. Getting the final down against a great survivor is a good challenge, a great survivor with deadhard can ruin your entire match. Bloodecho is a perk you need to get used to if you want good value.
Fun fact about borrowed time; hit them with frenzy after an unhook if they had borrowed time the survivor will glow white when you hit them. Now you can also get the unhooker injured and know they have BT to prevent a M1 mistake later.
It probably was a coördinated team so don't be to hard on yourself we have all lost against these kind of teams.
-
I want a christmas tree outfit for Claudette you know just to plant her between the rest of the bushes and taking nice screenshots.🌲
-
If you start investing time in really getting to know how to play legion you'll be fine. I've spend a lot of time on legion so I'll give you some pointers.
First the build; Stop using corrupt intervention on legion it drives the survivors apart when they spawn together which could mess up your first frenzy. Legion shines by using perks that capitalize on the whole team being injured; thanataphobia, blood echo, deathbound (these 3 together give a nasty dilemma stay injured and suffer the slowdown + no exhaustion perks or heal and get oblivious. To stop them healing in your terror radius instead you get nurses on the 4th slot). Legion does great with many perks that help in chase like spirit fury/enduring, basically most of the perks to help get the m1 to seal the deal.
About frenzy; Know when to cancel early, get closer to the survivor after cancelling while filling your not totally depleted frenzy bar and hit them with frenzy instead of M1. Don't be scared of pallets while in frenzy most survivors drop it early giving you the vault and hit. You gain a hit and win a pallet. Wanna cancel frenzy or are about to run out? Cancel and try to force a pallet stun this takes less time than your fatique. Also cancel frenzy if the survivor starts mending in a deadzone or keeps working on the gen, no disrespect allowed. You can also stop actions by hitting them. Like in an unhook situation you can hit them twice cancelling the unhook and buying time to get out of frenzy for the down.
You had no add ons; I recommend the frenzy duration and shorter fatique ones I also like the legion pin.
Now for this game I see several points you could have turned the odds in your favor if you understand legion better. After you hit your first frenzy you leave Jane and chase Dwight off the gen, you can see from killer instinct that someone else was working on the gen next to Dwight's. No way you could have hit Dwight in a reasonable amount of time so cancel frenzy and go chase the other one of the gen. You would have had Jane mending/ Dwight out of position probably coming back down for his gen (visit after hitting survivor 3)/survivor 3 in chase; you see 3 guys aren't doing gens).
After the very long Dwight chase you went to hit Felix with a normal M1 instead of frenzy big mistake since you now know nothing about everyone's position and not everyone was injured. You than find Jane she drops the pallet which is all you should get out of that chase, activate frenzy hit Jane and find out where to go next to spread pressure. Jane would have been occupied mending... Instead you kept chasing into shack wasting way to much time, even if a survivor is already injured once you see it will take too long to get a down try getting a pallet than frenzy stab and head over to the others. You don't get Jane down, find Dwight and again why didn't you use frenzy! After that you see Nea and she's healthy and you still didn't use frenzy! Not spreading pressure by using your killer's power gave the survivors the edge they needed to get the gens done.
Just keep playing, watch your recordings, show them to others and learn from mistakes also look at great plays you've made it will keep the fun in the game.

No I do have favorites but I secretly love them all.

I mean, if you are now having bad games, you will derank anyway. This means, without Bloodlust (just a reminder - it is still a Test) you will be in Ranks where you would belong, so you would have easier games at this point. Or, with MMR (when it releases and is working) you will get Survivors with a similar MMR.
So if anything, Killers who are too high ranked currently will go to Ranks where they belong, instead of carried by a mechanic which is mostly not needed anymore.
True that you will derank eventually. I just feel that the skill threshold will become to big since it does take quite some time to learn basic killer mechanics. Not even mentioning a killer's power. And before you know how to do things properly like mindgaming, predict survivors movement and capitalizing on survivor mistakes you will be playing hundredths of hours. Killers will rank up vs new/bad not looping correctly survivors and then derank vs survivors who know a little bit about looping. This will become frustrating since you notice you don't do good as killer when you rank up. If this takes to much time a player will simply stop since there is no fun. I'm fine with a bit higher escape rate but what I got yesterday was a large change to my escape rate and that simply isn't healthy for any game. I'm curious if bhvr will share some of their results and what they will do with bloodlust, I do feel it needs change since getting bloodlusted without skill isn't fun either.

"Not everyone is a god tier killer and you shouldn't endure so many hours of lost games before you get good enough. Who will do that? I wouldn't. "
So... you dont want to improve at all? And rather have a hand-holding mechanic in the game? Right....
Everyone wants to improve but it has to be within reason. What I have seen yesterday isn't fun for killers at all. You can't expect someone to endure countless games that make them feel bad. I play more killer then survivor and have gone through enough bad games before I became better. The difference is that I had bloodlust help carry me through my early days getting some kills here and there making me have fun and continue playing. Getting continuously stomped ain't fun. We need to consider newer players into this, they do rely on bloodlust. A good killer doesn't rely on bloodlust and will never hit bloodlust beyond tier 1 anyway, if they hit bloodlust at all. The killers in higher ranks that rely on bloodlust to much will always spend to much time in chase making them lose to much gens they will realise this and are forced to adapt if they want to win more consistent. But yes we do still need bloodlust in my opinion.
-
This has been my experience as well. Which is why it puzzles me that there are loads of positive messages about turning bloodlust off. Not everyone is a god tier killer and you shouldn't endure so many hours of lost games before you get good enough. Who will do that? I wouldn't. Survivor just got easier even in solo queue! A little basic looping knowledge and the killer will have to be amazing otherwise they are up for a 3+ gen chase.
I played 11 games solo queue red/purple rank survivor vs mostly red rank killers and the odd green rank. I took spinechill/resilience/sprint burst/ kindred. I got 10 escapes and 1 death.... I normallly get like 3/10 escapes. I've played against nurse 2x, bubba, legion 2x, wraith, clown, huntress, spirit and demo. Only the doctor got me.
The killers used things like award winning chili bubba, NOED, mori, Shadow dance wraith, a full meta perk build. Yes I got a few not so skilled killers but even their powerful build + add ons couldn't make up for it. The truly problematic part are the good killers like one of the legions and the wraith I faced and they couldn't catch me in a reasonable amount of time! I'm in no way an amazing survivor and looping a wraith on a double L wall tile that connected to another good tile until he gave up is just sad.
Removing bloodlust altogether isn't healthy for this game, a rework is fine but I feel that we at least need BL tier 1 and maybe tier 2 in low ranks as training wheels. I don't want such high escape rates it means there is little challenge in surviving.
-
It is way worse than I thought! I'm experimenting with solo queue survivor without a full meta build and without items. I usually play both sides purple/red ranks.
Been playing survivor and I am decent but I'm suddenly getting way better results... 11 games and only one death, to be clear I maybe escape 3/10 matches on a normal day). I've played against nurse 2x, bubba, legion 2x, wraith, clown, huntress, spirit and demo. Only the doctor got me. I brought; kindred/ spine chill/ resilience/ sprint burst (spinechill tier 1, rest tier 3) Even without deadhard I get way more loops out of everything.
NOED the ultimate crutch which put me in a bad situation couldn't secure the kill. Mori's aren't helping either since they struggle to catch someone. The bubba had his award winning chili and only got a 2k for camping in the endgame (which was his last resort tbf). The wraith had shadow dance and couldn't catch me at a double L tile. This is purple/red ranks btw getting mostly red rank killers vs red/purple survivors with the odd green killer. Killers struggle to get a kill, either my team gets out or 1 dies (2 die if we misplay in the endgame). This is solo queue...
Removing bloodlust altogether isn't healthy for this game, a rework is fine but I feel that we at least need BL tier 1 and maybe tier 2 in low ranks as training wheels. I don't want such high escape rates it means there is little challenge in surviving.

The Legion; Julie is my favorit.
-
The toxic kind makes me shake my head, why you enjoy making someone else feel bad is beyond me. I refuse returning the bm since it makes me feel bad and if I did return the favor I would just be keeping the toxic bm going.
It's all about excessive pointing/ t bagging/ motioning for me to go for them/ flashlight clicking/ fast vaulting a window a million times. They never play normally and make it their goal to get you tilted. They also tend to terribly misplay since I tend to devide my attention and they seem to misread my intentions. Things like following me around and getting horribly outplayed since you strayed into a deadzone isn't my fault. I'm just waiting for a good opportunity like I always do.
The fact they say terrible things in endgame is the real problem and if they cross the line I always report. It also doesn't matter if I win or lose these kind of people always feel entitled to giving grief.
-
It fits the lore; the entity feeds on hope, if the hatch didn't spawn it would be a hopeless situation.
-
On when I'm playing pc; I'm content with shorter waiting and the players are all the same to me.
On when I'm playing on switch; It can be quite crinch playing killer vs possible pc survivors. But I do notice that all those hard games make you a better player in the long run. So I mostly enjoy crossplay.
-
It's always a good laugh when they all throw the game for one hex perk.🤣 Had a hex spawn in the middle of the freaking cornfield and they all died for that one hex it was hilarious. Dying for third seal.... I must still have that clip somewhere. They just wouldn't stop attacking my totem every time I turned my back on it.
I see undying a lot and since I'm still learning all the spots I need something like small game, otherwise running around like a headless chicken isn't a good play. That kind of behaviour makes undying more powerful than it is.
-
Nope; I love the association. David lets killers hesitate for deadhard. Laurie brings the perks of ds without equipping it, they always leave you on the floor or in the locker. It's like a little extra perk slot while you are free to pick four different perks.
-
Any killer that makes an unsuspected play. You would think a true stealth killer wins this but the best scare I ever got was a legion! I was working on a gen behind 2 walls that blocked most of my view. And since I knew it was legion and there was no terror radius I wasn't paying attention at all. I got gen grabbed while I had my camera angled away from the way legion came.... Yeah dark devotion value. For a long time I was way more jumpy than I would like to admit and adopted spine chill.
So it isn't about which killer; it's about how you are playing them. Sure a stealth killer gets more easy scares but to truly get outplayed in such an unexpected way really makes a survivor scream.
-
I developed a fun mindgame for crawling. If a killer slugs for the 4k and you give the impression of crawling towards the last remaining survivor you can send the killer in the wrong direction. This strategy has gotten me some escapes either for myself and/or for my team mate.
-
These things make me laugh it's amazing if you pull it off. And I like unobservent survivors that miss my enduring completely allowing me to grab them by the throat. I don't mind falling for a clever trick it keeps you on your toes.
-
My favourite is Darkness among us; I really like playing/going against Legion and although Ormond is all kinds of broken if we talk balance I do appreciate the style especially since they added in the crunching snow sound.
The saw chapter is my second pick, I love pig and Detective Tapp. I'm starting to warm up to the game map since every time I play I seem to get it at least once.
My favourite map is Dead Dawg Saloon and i'm kinda realizing now I seem to pick difficult maps... For survivor it's Kate for me, she has the horse christmas sweater that did it LOL.
-
I'd say not aware enough...yet. I'm absolutely sure I sometimes walk by without noticing or get juked by crouching around a corner mid chase. Just poof survivor is gone.😪
But I have my moments like this week a Bill went into a locker on the first floor of dead dawg while I was approaching the saloon. Just beautiful how he stayed in and I pulled him out when I got upstairs. I rewatched my footage and you can barely see him get in on the upper left corner. These moments make me feel better about the loads of survivors I lost in the fog.🤩
-
Well I'll enjoy them while it lasts then. I love those twitch shirts, they go so nicely with some of my other things. I'm holding my fingers crossed that everyone puts that golden shirt on Dwight, I just spotted one from halfway across the map. Easy tracking for all killers.😋 That Nea shirt is also very pretty, shame we can't keep these pretty shirts.
-
It's a good thing to see that they keep a close eye to recently changed perks and aren't afraid to revisit.😀
-
I think you need to get the timing right for a deadhard through a killer. I've been experimenting a bit and feel like it's about the distance you have and when the killer decides to swing. Furthermore it is tied to latency, if my screen shows more distance than the killer's screen it's not going to work. Like when you're exhausted on the floor sometimes instead of deadhard saving you. You can go into KYF and start recording; than afterwards compare both screens on that exact deadhard moment you'll understand why it's so inconsistent
-
I don't hate him but I do find it extremely annoying that you can't break his stealth when he's behind a ridiculous small object. I know you have to keep him in the middle of the camera and your characters eyes need to be on him but he still manages to hide behind a freaking corn stalk.
-
I got it the second day in a stream with 200ish view count. I really like dwightcrow, he is currently up on my hook joined by the new pumpkin and tiki mug.😁 I have it on my steam account, I also have a switch but they will eventually get cross progression so I didn't unlock dwightcrow on switch to give someone else a chance.
-
It is linked to your nintendo account so as long as you use the same account everything will transfer to the new switch.
-
It's a tactic against RBT but only works in SWF because you need to communicate this. But RBT kills are not that common unless the killer uses tampered timer with crate of gears so I wouldn't mind survivors doing this. I like playing pig and RBT is mostly a slowdown since it gives an alternative objective, this fact doesn't change when you 99 a gen. When survivors do this you can patrol jigsaw boxes instead of gens so no hostage situation here.
-
I've tested it out and it isn't a visual bug. I got the challenge in one game which isn't possible if you still needed 20.000 bp... Was even able to collect it.
-
Waking up should be a priority for each survivor in the dream world he teleports 15% faster which stacks to 60%! He's a bit like the hag when it comes to snares and fake pallets. When he's busy I destroy snares or throw fake pallets on purpose. Especially in solo this will help your team.
-
I've noticed this as well. I got stuck on the right side of the big door on the wretched shop building as killer. Completely messed up my dash. Tested it out later in the match and it feels like an invisible edge preventing you from hugging the wall tightly.
On loops it bounces me off most of the time forcing me on a wider loop as killer. As survivor I actually get stuck for a split second on seemingly nothing. I can clearly see it happen to the survivors I'm chasing they suddenly stand still during a loop. It happens most on the updated maps but it also happened on Hawkins a couple of days ago.
I hope they patch this soon.
-
I really want pig with demo as a close second.😁
-
If you have put time and money in the rift than you get the skins cheaper and have them way before they can be purchased. So yes I feel that it's fair to eventually make them available to everyone.
-
A survivor immediately mending after a hit in a deadzone, me noticing ending feral frenzy and getting the down. 🤩
-
I would get Jill she's great! I actually would like multiple legendary skins. John Kramer wearing the black/red robe maybe with a different trap I would love the head water cube (Saw V) instead of the reversed bear trap.😏
-
I did without problems. I used twitch and I connected steam now I'm waiting till they add switch.....

Stridor sounds interesting! I don't see it mentioned too often so ill check it out. So does it have it to be T3 for me to hear regular breathing at 25%? What's the range on it?
I do hear more about Hex: Undying since it transfers to dull totems but dont have many hex reachable yet.
Tier 3 is the best: grunts of pain are 50% louder and regular breathing is 25% louder. Tier 1 and 2 doesn't increase the regular breathing only grunts of pain. Stridor doesn't have a reach it increases the volume so you will hear breathing/ grunts of pain easier. I guess you will hear them from 25% (healthy) or 50% (injured) further away but I was never a math genius.
Stridor also counters iron will since you still get 50% grunts of pain audio instead of the 0% iron will normally gives.
-
When the match starts the surivors nearly always spawn at the furthest gen from your spawn location. So turn around and go across the map to find someone quickly. Sometimes you get a god spawn near you but I always check the 2 gens on the opposite side of the map which works fine.
After that you can either snowball or if you can't find them mid match think what you would do playing survivor and go there. You'll get better after every game, learn from mistakes. I've started recording and watching my own gameplay has helped a lot. I can see what I should have done to prevent those mistakes. Or I notice a hiding survivor I missed...
Have you tried stridor? If the scratchmarks fail you your ears will not. The breathing is extremely loud when you get used to it there is no hiding. The only killer I never use stridor on is legion, they all breath similarly to the survivors which gets me confused.
-
The tutorial isn't the best, you'll have to put in hours to know everything. And too many people only play one side; that seriously impairs your overall knowledge.
-
I use it to signal that the killer is still near when it's a stealth killer. And I do this when I'm slowly nearing the second stage and see that no one is about to come, this works 50/50. I see other people also signal that they aren't getting saved which makes me go for them.
-
If there is no reason to leave the area I'm staying near. Otherwise please leave it ain't fun. Sometimes you get these hardcore proxy campers who also slug like their life depended on it. It's really boring.
