A few reasons I can think of:
1. Anger: not getting that hit can make people see red and everything else is a blur apart from that one individual.
2. Practice: not as common as anger, but some may see a really good survivor as an opportunity to improve their chase.
2. Practice (2): A few killers may actually be survivor mains and when they see someone great, they would chase to learn how they play, so they could integrate it into their play.
4. Ego: as @gnehehe says, some just feel butt-hurt and just chase to "assert domination" over them. They're the least popular of killers.
5. Items: some will chase someone for ages if they see them as a flashlight-saver or believe they have a powerful item. This was especially true when keys were a quick and easy escape.
6. Prejudice: maybe they dislike Neas. Maybe they recognise a name. Maybe they say TTV. They just have a grudge towards those types, over preconceived opinions.
Going to agree with the anger/ego part. Especially when you're trying to perform well and have to sweat, game brings out the competitive nature in a lot of us.

7) Doing the "chase a survivor for XY seconds" challenge. That's me who wants to be done with it as soon as possible. The outcome is mostly zero or one kill. In the end I thank them for the match, the completed challenge in the chat and we all say "glhf next".
Makes sense.

That is an option, but I don’t like subscriptions and I like having a full desk top set up. While the withdrawal symptoms are rough, I can use this time to try to be a little more productive with my free time. I might go to the library and get some books. I used to read a book a week and my addiction to the internet ruined it. It’s a hobby I’ve been meaning to get back into.

People want to customize. DBD mobile gets it. Base game, we get scraps and recolors.
-
Sounds like it might be the PSU. Either way, sorry to hear OP. You can always get a cheap laptop and sign up for nVidia GeForce Now to play DBD. Not the most ideal but at least you won't miss the event.

Double XP - Get more of everything.

7 years is a good run. I feel like they don't know what to do with the game anymore. Should just put it to bed.

Thanks to well designed Pentimento perk, I never waste time anymore in early game destroying dull totems ; congratulations devs!
Pretty much, no use doing so, especially with Play Thing. Why bother when you know the outcome. Just do gens. It's how DBD devs want us to play anyhow.
-
Just as the objective for the killer is to kill, survivors get to do generators. Amazing fun for the whole family.

I play 90% survivor friendo! I just want skill to matter for both sides and WoO is a perk that facilitates boring playstyles. I feel the same way about killer powers that give no agency to survivors, like Knight and SM.
"skill to matter"
While the game has auras, notifications, and game insight. If you're going to complain about "skill" then you might want to nerf the entire game while you're at it. Your arguments don't really make any sense.

Fair enough I suppose I was exaggerating how strong the pallets are as a whole.
They were just all really good at looping with a mix of greeding pallets, pallet stuns, and ability to get to yet another pallet while gets fly.
Sometimes you run into players that are better than you, sometimes have to take the loss.

getting tunneled out is different though, i'm not sure exactly how but it's sort of less mentally aggravating. Atleast you know your teammate died by the killer and played the match out rather than instantly disconnecting.
You're still at a major disadvantage unless the killer is almost brand new to the game at 4-5 gens left and 3 survivors.
-
I wouldn't mind it, I never get it.
-
@SpiritsHusk said:
Yes, I honestly find no point in trying to continue a game if a player disconnects at 4/5 gens just because they got outplayed, the whole team gets punishment for their action, I would not want to increase dc penalties as some people do have valid reasons to leave a match such as their internet disconnecting or such.
Dc's at 4/5 gens almost guarantee the killer a win most of the time, where you can just play it out and wait for hatch or something boring like that, if BP Gain was increased least players would have a bit of encouragement to continue the game and not dc instantly after.
It's the same thing when someone gets tunneled out at 4/5 gens. The core basis of the game is stagnant and unappealing. BP incentive won't help.

Is it about pissing off killer mains or actually being fair? It feels like people forget SWF is technically broken. This remains as true in year 7-8 as it did in year 1. The game was not designed so that survivors were ever meant to have the level of coordination or communication SWF provides.
I don’t know why killer players are always treated like second class citizens in this community, their opinions should be just as valid as survivors, no? So why is it about pissing of killers and not just ensuring the game is actually somewhat balanced? Nobody wants to only play against sweaty SWF teams anymore than people only want to play against Blight/Nurse.
Devs already stated that SWF is a very low number. I feel a lot of killers believe they are going against a SWF and just aren't.
-
If the maps were designed better, probably wouldn't be a problem for some. A lot of killers don't know how to proxy gens to their favor. But to be fair some maps are insanely large.
-
I really don't care what your sexual orientation/preferences are. It's none of my business. But I can understand where OP is coming from and it's valid criticism. I just don't believe BHVR is being malicious or off-put on doing so with the charms.
Look at how they handle updates. Have to cut them some slack sometimes.

Something's in the air. Got DDOSed by a salty Blight yesterday, first time it happened to me as survivor, pretty wild.
Oh, I forgot, there is no DDOSing in DBD, only random internet crashes that magically fix themselves after a new IP address.
That's wild.

Curious how some people seem to have match after match of harassment. Think I've had maybe 5-6 in my entire DBD experience since 2016. Not saying it doesn't happen, just weird to see posts make it seem like it's every match.

i think dev should consider inventing a boon perk that allows you to link 2 generators. When repairing linked generator. you repair another generator 0.30/0.35/0.40 c/s. The generator being repaired is paused. This would allow survivor teleport generator progression and prevent killer from proxy camping generators that are too close to each other.
In total, it would take 225 seconds to repair a generator as a solo survivor. 112 seconds with two people and 75 seconds with 3 people.
Seeing as killer mains already would like generators to take about 4-5 minutes to do by themselves, this would throw them into another forum whirlwind.

The 60% kill rate in top 5% MMR is people who play this game 16 hours a day and does not represent what you should expect if you are a casual player. Don’t let people make you think that you are the problem if you’re not playing up to that standard. Most of us here just want a fair, fun match and not a brutal sweat fest every time we play.
You’re probably, for whatever reason, getting matched against a lot higher level players and more SWF teams. Crappy matchmaking and unfair advantage of SWF is to blame, not you.
The game is literally designed around how hard you try and min maxing a build. If someone is under performing it's definitely a player problem, there is no debate about it.

forgiving and zero draw backs? Now that is false. His power solely relies on collision. Collision in this game is not guaranteed or constant. It’s changed so many times with updates. You go for a rush and slide, leading to fatigue, and the survivor makes massive distance. Maps like red forest, GOJ, swamp, and now the autohaven maps that were murdered with garbage updates, render his power useless on a good portion of the map.
You're really reaching with this one. If you're a blight main, great. Enjoy it. Blight does rely on collision and no it's not as bad as you're trying to spin it. A survivor making massive distance isn't, and won't ever be, a problem for Blight.
-
Hell yeah grats.
I was lucky and got it my first week on it's release. Yeah I played insanely scummy but it's done.
-
If a chase is taking a long time I'll drop chase because it's not in my best interest to continue. I will then try to find someone who isn't that good in looping, take them down, etc. Eventually the good looper will mess up but by then I already have 1-2 of his friends.

I was just thinking today how the devs' philosophy toward survivor nerfs has changed.
Do you remember old DS? Everyone ran it, all the time. Killers complained for years. But rather than nerf it (which it obviously needed from day 1 in every iteration until this one), they created pyramid head.
When you think about it, its kind of mind-blowing - it presumably takes much, much more work to create an entire killer (and negotiate licensing) than to change numbers on a single perk. Glad that isn't the philosophy toward nerfing obvious problems now. If it was, we'd still have that version of boil over that lasted two weeks - and a killer with the base kit power of seeing all hooks all the time and a longer wiggle timer.
This is quite the take.
-
That's the cool part, fun is subjective.

@Yippiekiyah said:
Some of Gabriel's perks are completely busted. Removing quick scope wasn't enough to nerf deathslinger out the game so now survivors can run 3% faster every time they're injured v a 110% killer.
You really have to play with it to understand. 3% is not a lot but seeing as most people just go with what is on paper instead of trying it or seeing it themselves, it'll probably get nerfed to 2% if there is enough killer whining.

Simple words.
You should enjoy your lose.
You should not play for win in a video game.
If you play just for the win, you'll destroy the other side usually (marked as "fun"). Just don't be upset and complain on the forums when you go against players that put your ego in check.

So, reading the PTB notes and I see the change to Deja Vu:
- We have noticed growing concerns surrounding excessively long matches caused by 3-genning (Killer defending a cluster of three generators). We are working on a long term solution for a future update to limit how effective this strategy can be. However, we recognize that Survivors need more options at their disposal right now to combat 3-genning. With this in mind, some adjustments have been made to Déjà Vu: The perk will now reveal the auras of 3 generators which are in close proximity to one another indefinitely (previously for 30/45/60 seconds at the start of the trial and everytime a generator was completed) and grant a 4%/5%/6% repair speed bonus on the revealed generators (previously 3%/4%/5%).
So 3 genning is now bad? Then why do maps like suffocation pit actually exist? Why did the developers release the knight and then the skull merchant and now another killer with seemingly strong 3 Gen potential. Is this just due to complaining from survivors? Because the developers have made decisions for months (years) which suggest they’re fine with the game being played one way, only for enough moaning to cause them to try and counteract the game design they themselves implemented.
I honestly don’t understand anymore how the developers want killers to play the game. Is it just to “have fun”? Enjoy chases and don’t care about macro strategy or winning? Don’t use slowdown perks as they’re all mostly pretty trash?
I do agree that 3 genning can be tedious, but the solution is not removing that ability without changing other things like map design.
So you glanced over all the killer buffs, noticed Deja Vu in helping assist a 3 gen where everyone is locked into a server for eternity, and that is what you're upset about. I don't get it.

Don’t worry. This forum is full of Survivor mains who will go out of their way to dismiss any concerns you have as Killer, in this case by minimizing.
Killers will be encouraged to slug if these changes go through. Then they will bring back those awful basekit Unbreakable changes. Killers will be forced to play by the Survivor Rule Book. I suspect only the very best Killers will continue playing.
Why do people deal with absolutes when they don't have all the data yet or future changes to said mechanic. Honestly, boggles my mind. It's like complaining about stubbing your toe. It might happen, might never happen, but you're sure as pie angry about a false reality you created.
Wait and see what the PTB shows.

Or it comes from the other three survivors who had their game and chance to earn BP ruined because a selfish survivor decided to DC. If you're going to rage quit for anything less than RL issues, hacking or someone holding the game hostage stick to single player roles and don't play survivor. The Killer usually gets more BP if someone DCs.
Missed the point and still pushing the same non-sense.

Dcing sometimes yes does ruin a game especially if it’s a survivor but it’s not wrong if they aren’t enjoying it right? I don’t dc and I can understand someone getting tunneled or camped just decided to dc. Dcing because you last 2 seconds in chase is different though.
Comes down to the killer wanting the points. You'll see killers give the argument with "You're ruining the chance for your team" yet they'll tunnel and camp one person out from the start so they can 3v1, even at 5 gens left. If someone DC's, basically fast tracking the 3v1 they eagerly want (less pressure, easier game) it becomes an "injustice".

Had a killer go off in chat because I put an item down, fast crouched by the item, then left. Just how some people are, have to just roll your eyes and move onto the next one.

While your explanation of why "crouching/tbagging" isn't BMing is cute, I think keeping in line with your "points" it is very important to keep in mind the context..so let's see...
If you are "crouching/tbagging" directly to the killer it is unlikely you are trying to communicate with another survivor.
If you are dropping pallets and "crouching/tbagging" after, it is safe so say you are not trying to communicate with another survivor.
If you are dropping tbags mid loops or after window vaults, it is safe to say you are not trying to communicate with another survivor.
If you are tbagging at the exit gate..once again, you are not trying to communicate with your team.
Trying to play it off as "you don't know the message" is ridiculous. Yes we do and so do you. If it was a message to your teammates, we wouldn't even be seeing it.
Yikes. Maybe DBD might not be for you.

@MeanieDeeny said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3428127#Comment_3428127
If it wasn't intended to make killers upset, survivors wouldn't do it.
The ongoing argument of "killers shouldn't get upset over a simple crouch/tbag" is tiresome. If it shouldn't affect killer, there is no reason for survivor to do it.
Oh that's right..it is done to make killers angry and then survivors come here and pretend they can't possibly understand why it's upsetting..but continue to do it, because they know......exactly what message they are conveying, whilst doing it.
The statement that survivors only crouch spam (t-bag) to make killers upset is a generalization that is not always true. Some survivors may crouch spam to taunt or annoy killers, but others may do it for other reasons. For example, some survivors may crouch spam to communicate with each other, to signal to a killer that they are friendly, or to simply express their excitement or frustration.
It is important to remember that not all survivors are the same, and that their motivations for crouching spam can vary. It is also important to remember that crouching spam is not always intended to be malicious. In some cases, it may simply be a harmless way for survivors to express themselves.
Here are some additional points to consider:
- Crouching spam is a common behavior in many online games, and it is not unique to Dead by Daylight.
- Crouching spam can be used for a variety of purposes, both positive and negative.
- It is important to be aware of the context in which crouching spam is used before making assumptions about the intentions of the survivor.
- It is also important to remember that not all survivors are the same, and that their motivations for crouching spam can vary.
In the end, it's up to you if you want to get upset over it. But comparing it to camping/tunneling isn't the way to go.
-
Boggles my mind how someone can get so upset at something as a fast crouch/"t-bag". Then relate it to camping/tunnelling as if they are the same thing.
-
I'm always impressed when I see a killer actually put proper pressure down that doesn't tunnel, it's a sight to see and props to those gamers because obviously their gaming, deserve the 2-4k they usually get. Tunneling killers show how inept they actually are, I don't blame them because they just aren't good at the game, you can hear the mechanical keyboard slapping from miles away when they chase you for the second hook.
Basically the same seeing a survivor that fast crouches and gets down before they get to a loop. Same energy. Bad players.
Only problem is, DBD rewards bad killers. It comes down to the game itself but behavior refuses to create a fun gameplay loop. Rather they just do meta shifts and cosmetic recolors. I refuse to believe BHVR actually gives a rats a$$ about the community, they just got lucky with being the only game in the genre that has had some success but treat it like the bastard child trying to make new games yet failing to deliver, go figure.
-
I usually run scratched mirror jumpscare myers with the typical build and just have fun with survivors and interacting with them.
Survivor: Diversion, Blast Mine, Head On, and Alert
-
BHVR will go out of their way to do the bare minimum, doubt we'd ever see good new skins. Just recolors of current ones. Netease puts in the work because these things sell. It's almost like BHVR hates money.
-
