How do you say Hag and Spirit are boring when in the same post you say that "Hag and Spirit make me @#$% my pants"? Seems to me that would be the opposite of boring (unless you are in the habit of @#$% your pants alot).

That is a good point, what I meant was I don't like The Hag or Spirit because I find them as boring characters to play as (and sometimes against, depends if I'm really brave or not cx). They do scare me sometimes. They scare me the most compared to the other killers.

  • For killer: Brutal Strength

    For Survivor: Urban Evasion

  • Doctor was easier for me to play than Oni, I like both killers though.

I think Oni is the stronger killer, but Doctor is stronger in terms of tracking survivors.

  • @Reborn2020 said:

They are both good. There s no stronger or better. And no survivors cant counter discoordance. If they dont try to complete gens together they already doing favour to killer when it comes to 3 gens.

There is a better in terms of people's opinions, hence why I said 'personal preference'.

  • I feel proud commenting on this knowing I play both sides 😊

In all seriousness though, I think Dead by Daylight has it's variations of what people call balanced and unbalanced. I see a lot of us vs them forums all the time and they say the game is unbalanced when really they haven't seen what it's like for both sides.

For example: a killer main complains about getting 0-1 kills, says the game is unbalanced. For the survivor mains that escaped, they're probably thinking the game is balanced and the killer was just a noob. However if the roles were reversed and all the survivor mains died, maybe one or some of them are thinking that the game is unbalanced and the killers are too "powerful", however a killer main would perceive the game as balanced because he/she got extra kills compared to his previous match.

I think it all just comes down to skill and experience.

  • It's the 4th year roadmap, 5th year will be in 2021.

It's likely that the roadmap will be announced in May-June time.

EDIT: Apologies, it is the 5th year roadmap this year. I was getting confused with the anniversary.

GOD DAMIT... Make this ######### bird shut up 😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡

Jokes aside, we'll have a ptb next week so you temporarily won't have to listen to him for a while (as they disable the chapter ambience in the mid-chapters).

  • How do you know you're playing against Japanese people?

  • @BigBrainMegMain said:

The one thing I can't stand is when they try and loop WITH you.

When you've been looping the killer for minutes and someone decides to join and throws down a pallet, or uses your resources for themselves.

I was playing against a Doctor last night and as I was running to the shack this Nancy thought it'd be smart to throw down the pallet which pushed me back outside the shack and got me smacked down.

I get the smartest teammates sometimes.

  • I play both sides, but the killers I find the most boring to play as and go up against are Freddy, Hag, Nurse and Spirit. Any other killer is fine with me, I would rather face a Legion than these 4 killers.

Hag and Spirit make me want to sh*t my pants

    Freddy is just 🤮

Nurse I don't really care about.

So whenever I get a game with these 4 I just start feeling really bored.

  • @Gcarrara said:

I usually consider a game as a good game if it lasts more than 3-4 minutes. I usually don't enjoy games where there is a rush of gens or hooks, snowballing instantly. I prefer more lenghty games. This is both as killer and survivor of course.

I'm a noob, what does 'snowballing' mean?

  • A year ago Freddy was the worst killer in Dead by Daylight.

In the present day I still think he is the worst killer (not because of his gameplay, I believe he is a very powerful killer, there's just something about him I hate going against).

Whenever I see the white clocks in the HUD I say "oh are you ######### kidding me?" and wish I could just leave but I don't because disconnecting over a killer is pathetic and it puts my teammates at a disadvantage, so I just suck it up.

But that being said, I hate Freddy and couldn't care less if he ever got removed from the game.

  • @OniWantsYourMacaroni said:

I understand what you mean but that whole killer mains vs survivor mains thinking is so pointless.

Both sides experience frustrating things and we should work together to fix those.

    Someone gets me 😓

  • @SurviveByDaylight said:

But I don’t know why killers feel entitled to that 4th kill. It’s not yours nor should it be just because the other 3 screwed up. It’s not all about you killer mains. It grows tiresome seeing all these complaints coming from killers. Figure it out.

The same can be said for entitled survivor mains like you. No survivor is entitled to an escape too, you win some you lose some. It's not all about your side either, it should be equal for both sides.

    Quit the hypocrisy.

Well, mid-chapters are generally more impactful than a character releases because of their changes affecting everyone, rather than just people who may or may not use a character (especially such a non-standard Killer like Deathslinger).

    I guess that's true.

I also believe we will be seeing a fuckload of cosmetics in the game files once we install the PTB. Especially because of the new Tome approaching.

  • Is it bad I'm looking forward to this mid-chapter PTB more than I did for the Chains of Hate PTB?

  • @Eye66 said:

Nothing really, it was ok when they tweaked it a few months ago but they quickly nerfed it back to hell. Don't waste a perk spot, unless you're doing a bit with scarecrow outfit Wraith or Hillbilly

I've never used it, but a name like 'spies from the shadows' makes it sound like a really good perk at first impression.

With a name like that, the perk could have so much potential.

    Hell yeah !

Now we need the same treatment for the main building window on Rancid Abattoir and Groaning Storehouse :please:

They did hint at more map changes, so you never know ;)

  • Did you by any chance steal the 'No place for cowards' perk name by the Legion's quotes for their perks?

Yes, I'm one of those people.

  • "You devs need to revert ruin back to the way it was originally."

No, they don't need to do anything just because you don't like something. You're not entitled so kindly stop acting like you are please.

The developers have announced before if there's something wrong that needs changing then they will.

  • @BigBrainMegMain said:

Old Ruin was the bandaid to the main issue.

Once they nerfed that, the Gen Rush Meta began.

It's why NOED and Devour Hope are so strong, IFFFFFFF the totem spawns were and have been worked on like they said they were.

But since totem spawns haven't been worked on like they said they were, Hex Perks are still garbage.

Old Ruin needs to come back.

If we still had Old Ruin, that combined with Corrupt Intervention would be amazing balance for killers.

  • Good tier list, however not all would agree.

I personally think the majority of it is accurate, however one perk I would suggest moving to A tier is Brutal Strength. I think the perk is underrated and deserves more recognition.

You're definitely showing ignorance cause you completely missed the point somehow. I didn't say anything about SWF not being more advantageous over solo play. I said Kindred is too powerful to be basekit for survivors. Two statements that are obviously different for those who actually pay attention instead of only hearing what they want to hear so they can make irrelevant retorts.

While you probly missed the point so your "inaccurate and untrue" accusation was delivered to a fictional claim; for humor's sake, I'll pretend it was directed at my claim that Kindred would be too powerful to be basekit. Aura perks are amongst the most powerful perks in the game regardless of whether or not you're playing SWF. Nobody is actually able to let other players know exactly where they are without an aura perk regardless of what ridiculous claims they make. Kindred not only lets you know if the killer is camping the hook, which direction he's head off in, if he's placing traps, and if he's returned to the hook; but it also lets you know which survivors are closest to the hook, where a survivor being chased is (and therefore where the killer is), and whether other survivors are on the gens or going for the unhook so you can easily see what to do.

If you honestly think basekit would be balanced to make it completely obvious how to most efficiently play the game when a survivor is hooked, then you're definitely ignorant.

I mean I did say 'call me ignorant' lol

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1189755#Comment_1189755

Yeah, but it would also be a completely overpowered buff for survivors that already have tons of advantages as it is. This is something along the lines of making NOED basekit for killers.

That is both inaccurate and untrue, but okay.

Call me ignorant, but solo players are at a far less advantage than SWF teams.

In dbd, I hate moris. They are boring, have no counter-play and require no skill to use. However, I kind of feel bad for dcing when I see the killer uses a secret offering since it might just be something else than a green / pink mori. Do I feel bad for doing this? What are the odds of a secret killer offering being an ebony / ivory? One last thing to consider: I changed my name to warn killers that any secret offering from them will result in a dc.

The fact that you disconnect over a secret offering just insinuates the little amount of respect you have for yourself or your teammates for that matter.

Disconnecting ruins the fun for your teammates. The other survivors are put at a huge disadvantage because of one less teammate and therefore have a less chance of winning. Disconnecting without thinking about the other survivors is selfish and inconsiderate, especially over a mori. Killers also complain about keys, chances are you've used a key in your entire time playing a survivor so it's not just your side that has issues.

Point is, disconnecting over an offering is just petty and selfish.

  • I recently made a comment on another forum that kindred becoming basekit would be a very good idea to closing the gap between solo and SWF players because it rewards more altruistic communication that way.

  • @Ghoste said:

Getting hit over a window like that is probably the most frustrating thing in this game. As a side note, this is exactly why I don't use Lithe because it gets wasted like this 9/10 times.

Relatable, I always use lithe and I can feel my excitement when I'm about to escape turn into disappointment because I got hit at an unusual angle through the window. I feel you man.

Going after the unhooked, camping, making gens fast, going for OP loops, etc, all those are strategies from killers and survivors, not toxic behaviour.

Tbag, hook hitting, nodding, pointing, clicking flashlight, etc, those are toxic behaviours.

Toxic is everything that is intended to humiliate the other role. Harsh gameplay is just a player doing the best he can.

Everytime im unhooked im ready to be chased by the killer, and i hope so. "Gentleness" is not a good thing, and usually is payd with toxicity by survivors. You can never tell whomever will tbag at the gate, despite not tbagging during the match.

My kindness is usually let the last escape thru hatch.

    Thank you for explaining that.

A lot of people perceive the word 'toxic' in different ways, whether it's a wrong or right reason. I don't really know what's considered toxic behaviour at this point when it comes to DBD.

Playing killer at red ranks doesn't mean you have to facecamp, tunnel and mori spam a survivor for doing their job. Because that's all me and I'm pretty sure @ZoneDymo have faced as survivor

Speaking of tunnelling, I wanted to share a little story about it:

Straight up I went into a survivor game yesterday and this Oni tunnelled to me to death, LITERALLY. So I spectated and he did the same to the other 3 survivors but he just picked on me first to tunnel for no reason. I didn't even loop or t-bag him anywhere; every time I was unhooked he would always come for me, and my braindead survivors unhooked me right in front of him without borrowed time.

I know tunnelling and camping have been labelled as strategies but honestly tunnelling just ruins the fun of the game, especially when you wasn't even toxic to the killer.

EDIT: Normally I would accept tunnelling and facecamping if I was extremely hard on the killer (looping him for a long time etc) but I didn't even get a chance to be chased, 2nd time I was unhooked all the pallets around me had been waisted.

Just for the record so y'all don't get your hopes up too much, the perks mentioned in that Q&A are not necessarily slated for the mid-chapter, they're just a few perks that have designs that we're planning to use in the future. They'll come over time, not all at once.

And when is the mid-chapter coming?

  • To answer the question in the title, as a solo player, I have my moments:

Most of the time I will keep an eye out and concentrate on the skill checks and my surroundings in case it's a stealth killer and they sneak up on me.

However, when someone is getting chased, I'm a solo player and I don't have any friends to talk too, I'll just be holding M1 and sometimes I will zone out and stare into space but somehow I'm able to press space and hit skill checks while I'm preoccupied. It's weird to be honest, I don't know how I do it, it just happens.

  • image.png

I need my Bunny Feng :(

  • dedicated servers for you :/

In all seriousness though, hopefully the next mid-chapter patch.

  • This brings up closing the SWF gap and solo players, so I'm going to talk about an interesting idea I has last night.

Kindred should become basekit and I'll explain why:

As a solo player, it is difficult to communicate among your teammates during matches, especially when one person is on the hook. You're not sure if someone is going for the save, you should go for the save and if anyone is going to save them at all. With kindred becoming basekit, solo players can identify if SWF teams are actually going for the rescue or just continue working on generators, this way they can safely decide on making the save. I think this would be a good idea for closing the gap between SWF and solo players.

    …Yup, dark green and red.

  • If you want to counter DS just slug and count 60 seconds in your head :/

Also you mentioned "If I get stunned, they're dead.". Are you sensitive to being stunned or something? It's practically inevitable unless you're good with pallet mind games but if getting stunned is such a problem to you then bring enduring.

  • I don't know why people are sensitive to spamming a button on a keyboard lmao

  • @Spirez said:

Revealing is fine. You need to see a good portion of his body to reveal. If he’s leaning then you need to be at an angle to reveal. Remember you’re canceling out this killer’s ENTIRE power just by looking at him. If you can’t reveal then you’re camera aim is bad and you need more practice. When I go up against ghostface it’s the easiest thing to do. I basically go against ghost face with no power ever. Even if he gets lucky to stalk me there is at least 2-3 pallets to loop to wait out the time of being marked.

Everyone who plays knows what this game is.

Eveytime you start it up you’re well aware that some bugs might show up but that does not grant a free pass to DC. If you don’t want to deal with the bugs just don’t play or report the bugs and wait until they are fixed. Who knows how long they’ll take to fix. Maybe even months or not fixed at all.

And may I ask, have you ever played Ghostface? Because I've played as him and against him and I can tell you that in my opinion his revealing is a problem. Once he's revealed he's basically an M1 killer that just hits you, without his stealth ability he's weak.

  • Hag maybe, but Huntress and Spirit?

Huntress you can see high hatchet shots in the distance and can even hear her winding up a hatchet all the way. Her hum should be fairly obvious too.

Spirit has a sound of a bloody hairdryer so I don't know how she and Huntress have "no giveaway".

  • I play Ghostface and I think he's fine. The only thing that needs a bit of tweaking is his reveal duration.

  • as a solo player I don't know how to feel about this, other than irrelevance 🤔

My mom used to watch a lot of Charmed 😂

I personally haven't watched it but I do know what it is

The 3 woman with the powers and stuff

Yeah, I'm glad someone knows it.

  • Mine's a bit old fashioned but I think it would be cool. This is just my opinion though.

I'd love a Charmed chapter; if you've watched the 1998-2006 tv show then you'll know what I'm talking about.

The killer could be The Source from season 4, his power could be fire-throwing which blinds and burns the survivors temporarily.

The survivor could be Phoebe, as her husband became the Source later on in season 4 and she even became pregnant with the Source's child.

The map could be the underworld where the Source's kingdom was.

Again, this is a bit far-fetched and only my opinion, I'm not expecting loads of people to approve but this is something that would be interesting to see, especially because the TV show has a lot of sentimental value to me.

  • I recently made a discussion asking which was the better perk between Balanced Landing & Lithe and the majority of responses were Balanced Landing was the stronger perk. Reading this now compared to when I wrote my forum I am so glad I still use Lithe to this day and my opinion hasn't changed on it.

  • NOED basekit? Are you sure that's a good idea?

  • @PigMainClaudette said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1182277#Comment_1182277

Yeah, but if you have all 4 survivors still alive, and one has an RBT, then that trapped surv will try to remove the box first. They will not touch a generator and generally won't heal.

There are now only 3 survs that you have to worry about touching your gens.

That's my point, that one survivor with a RBT is most at risk because of the other 3 survivors potentially completing generators. Those other 3 survivors are practically killing that survivor quicker.

1 … 33 34 35 36 37 … 39
