who is "soul dasher" and "the snail" in the pictures on the survey? is it just a random example they came up with? and even then, why not use an already existing perk?
NotJake is an intriguing killer idea. Jake turns on survivors and becomes a standalone killer or another member of Legion, lol.

The statements made by BHVR specifically was they wanted the survivors to be "afraid" of the killer and that kill rates were too low. At no point were movies mentioned. My question is are they high enough now? What kill rate are they going for? I think they went way overboard, it feels like trash to play solo survivor right now.
It's not scary...it's just mostly annoying/frustrating now, lol.
Speaking of kill rates....it has been almost a year since we last saw kill rates. Something like kill rates (and perk usage) should be shared quarterly. If not just to give us insight into BHVRs direction for the game. And to keep not as useful data from outside sites from entering the conversation.

Multiple streamers/youtubers have 500+ winstreaks but yeah game is survivor sided... You can still lose a lot as killer if you play nicely but if you really try hard, use perks like no way out/NOED and tunnel hard winning is easy, not to mention average survivor is not that good, killer is easy against average teams it's a fact
Meanwhile soloQ streamers are struggling getting to 10 game streaks these days.

Survivor is easy though. If you run Sole Survivor in your build you will escape the majority of the time even when your terrible solo q teams bite it. Because you can open the gates so fast the killer can't stop you.
Windows of Opportunity allows you to run safely very easily and if you know how to loop at all the killer will l leave you or he will throw the match by over commiting to you.
Between Windows and Sole Survivor I lose maybe 1 out of ever 5 games.
Then you have 2 flex slots. For MFT for chases, or Clairvoyance to find hatch. You can also use any of the busted endurance perks for extra health states if you aren't good enough to loop right
Sounds an awful lot like you're the reason your team is dying. You're escaping because others are running a less selfish build. If all 4 survivors played for Sole Survivor you'd escape alot less.

unless you are talking about only A / S tier killer , otherwise if u think survivor is hard when having decent teammates , thats just a skill issue.
the MFT / second chance meta right now for survivor is the easiest thing in the world , go to a safe pallet , loop tighly , drop , hold W.
and if the killer hits you , u get rewarded with 3% perma haste that literally makes loops that where 50/50 into 75/25 which is dumb on top of the fact the MFT makes holding W even more effective which is boring and braindead .
soo yeah , the only reason why survivors are dying against non-top tier killer its because they are just BAD honestly , the have the tools to reach the endgame easily but they dont use them , and as someone that plays a lot of solo Q , am tired of having teammates that actively do nothing in the match other than putting the team in danger with their bad plays:
Reassurance (only requires 1 guy having it to counter camping entirely
plus a new mechanic to combat that is on the way)DS - OTR (counters tunneling)
DH -MFT (second chances on chases)
Unbreakable (counter slugging)
Dejavu (perma 6% repair bonus + always warns you about avoiding 3 gens)
thats just the average tools that survivor had to make any B to F tier killer lose the game without sweating just playing smarter and GOOD at chases.
Dude , I get kills on accident (like I thought the survivor had more hooks than they did). You're just bad at the game. There are lots of tutorials from streamers that can help you get more kills and kill streaks. But you won't see any noteworthy soloQ streaks these days.

Let's not mention Spirit Fury, Enduring and Hubris. Rewarding Killers for failing a mind game and getting an instant down
Killers get rewarded for sucking WITHOUT having to use perks..
Bloodlust - rewarding for sucking at chase (in addition to naturally being faster)
Auto window blocking - helping stop looping
stunning when jumping off anything (even porches) - more help ending chase
Loud moaning (like they aren't being hunted by a killer) - why search when the devs point out survivors for you.
I think BHVR should stop rewarding both sides for being bad in chase. Remove bloodlust, remove MFT, and only have momentarily activatable speed (kinda like in TCM) abilities that can be used strategically and require skill.

Survivors get information on who is being chased who’s doing healing, who’s doing generators, and what percentage that generator is on, and what percentage the recovery person in the dying state is plus they get an aura. Survivors get all of this information told to them through the base game.
There is no indication for whether or not a survivor is being affected by the killers, perks or add-ons. For example, the nemesis parasite, purple add on, doesn’t give a timer to the nemesis on how long the oblivious last for, or if I survivor is infected with the effects of the perks across all killers in the game. Survivors get all these bells and whistles however, a killer it’s just meant to organize and keep track of all of this information? And just remember how a survivor is supposed to be affected by an a perk? There should be some type of indication to the killer that a survivor is under the effects of an add-ons or perks perhaps maybe only in Chase as for example, they glow a bright purple for 5 seconds, when they are under effect of certain perks, or even in a chase the timer for purple add on (obliviousness) is in effect for?
just seems a little unfair that survivors get all these indicators for how a survivor is being affected by the killer. The killer gets no feedback. Perhaps some perks may benefit from an indication with the killer knowing that the perk is being useful.
Because you aren't part of the team. Why would anyone share info with you?
-
Technically he is blocking the only path out ( at that moment). But the survivors really didn't prove he was holding them hostage. If they had tried to get by him and he refused to hit them, it probably woulda been bannable then.

Meh, I only did solo during the test and it was fine. Very easy when everyone's talking, much harder when noone was talking. But just one person (usually myself) giving people pointers (telling HH where to trap, telling cook to start generator, etc...) can make or break a team. But there were times when VC was broken during the test and soloQ killer was as bad as soloQ survivor here lol. Like literally, I'd be Leatherface in the basement and noone turns on the generator (which means people escape out the front gate in seconds).

Thats interesting. To me, playing since 2016, i´ve noticed that survivor matches get easier instead of harder. Like a lot.
- Correct me if i´m wrong, but it sounds like you wanted to stay on rank 20, to be matched against new players. That doesn´t really sound fair or fun for those new players. The SBMMR should however, not be only based on kills/escapes. It should factor more things in. A face camping bubba with 4 hooks and 4 kills would be considered stronger/more skilled than a 9 hook Huntress with 1 kill. When its the other way around.
- DS as counter to toxic strategies? Uhh DS was used for toxic strategies. It was so weaponized, that streamers regularly made montages of their usage of DS against killers that were not tunneling. When Ruin was stronger, it encouraged survivors to search totems. Now, no one searches actively totems. Which in return makes NOED more viable.
- I agree. Stealth killers are a bit on the weaker side, but they make for more fun matches.
- Earning bloodpoints is ok. The more you interact with the killer or other survivors, the higher the points at the endgame screen. More often than not, my points as solo are on par or higher than the killers. So i don´t see an issue here.
- The last meta shake up was fun. For a couple of months, we had no meta and everyone was testing new builds, streamers came up every day with new, wacky, fun builds. We really need more of that. I agree.
- Random perks can be fun. Playing with non meta perks can be really interesting and give players a chance to see the advantages of perks, they previously ignored.
- Tbh, i wasn´t prepared for the perks of Nicolas Cage. I was like what the? But yeah, the devs should introduce more crazy stuff, even perks that go a bit over the top.
Saying that your survivor games are easier since 2016 is outright false (unless you went from soloQ to SWF).
Back in 2017 the maps enabled a Claudette to duck and hide in the grass right in front of the killer and lose them. No bloodlust, no window hits, no nerfed self care, No exhaustion (SB had a 40 second CD I think). Either you didn't play back then or you have a bad memory, lol.
Most would argue 6.1 put Killer in a best state it has even been. I typically shoot for 8 hooks and no deaths in my games. It is not odd for me to accidentally kill 1 or 2 survivors. Accidentally....not even trying but it happens.

this will remove any sense of build variety on killers though?
You have to look at if from more than a killer perspective...That 'variety' you speak off exists in both roles. But many players don't want the variety of BNP speeding through 15% of a gen. Neither do they want a tombstone Myers snatching them up and removing them from the game.
Many of the add-ons are simply OP (by design) and tend to heavily tilt the balance of a game one way or the other. But you really can't design around those being in play (without alot of work) because many games won't have them.
So the choice is to accept that imbalance of add-ons on (for both sides); nerf all add-ons to have minimal effect on match balance (extra BP, or cosmetic changes); or eliminate them from the game altogether.

We need to nerf survivors more then. Let's nerf Self-Care once again 😌
-That and nerf W. We can make it randomly turn you 180 degrees because 'game design' (it works for slow vault AND being stunned when jumping off a porch).
-Also survivors should always yell and make loud noises at all times
-Healing needs to take even longer and survivors should bleed out while moving when injured.
-
@TheycallmeLix said:
Medkits already got nerfed, so now you go to the next item and start complaining about toolboxes being OP/broken..
While we still have Blight and Spirit with the OP addons and still not being looked into and Bubba,Huntress and Infinite Tier 3 Myers facecamping and nothing you can do about it. So we have much bigger problems then you Killers getting ‘genrushed’ every game, I’ve seen good Killers still get a earned 4k then most Killers that play scummy and still get a 4k with being toxic to us. So let’s nerf some Killer addons first and camping and tunneling, then we move on to genrushing with toolboxes
I think all item add-ons should be removed for survivors. I ALSO think all add-ons should be removed for killers as well. It would make BHVR's job sooo much easier. Items and (most) powers aren't busted. It's usually busted add-ons that make match ups unfun.

I think gen rush started *during* the regression meta - because it was literally do the gen asap or lose your progress and likely the game. I literally stopped doing totems or searching chests because doing so would likely cost my team the game. It's only noticeable now because the meta regression build was nerfed but survivors are still stuck in gen mode.
That and recovery/healing takes so long...focus on gens instead. The gens are all thats being done now. Whereas it used to be, "stop doing gens....lets heal up and reset". That's a gamble of course.
-
Standing by the hook waiting for points to come to you is an overly used playstyle. This is meant to correct that. As you said, if a killer wants to tunnel that survivor then they still have that option. I would advise you to stand right by the hook if you still want to camp. So you have a better chance of hitting them as soon as they get off of the hook themselves.
-
@HoodedWildKard said:
So let me start by saying I HATE facecamping as a tactic, particularly early in a game. But seeing the proposed mechanics to eliminate face camping is ring alarm bells with me a bit, they just don't look like they'll help much. Being able to auto self unhook won't be very helpful against a killer determined to get a kill on you because they can simply tunnel you straight off the hook.
And from the killer perspective, against an extremely good team facecamping can often be the only way to secure a single kill or a couple extra hook states in the end game. No killer likes a 0 kill game, they are extremely frustrating.
This change looks like it'll benefit high mmr surv teams the most who'll be able to abuse the mechanic for more 4 man out games. Whilst not helping low mmr survs because tunneling them off hook is so easy.
It'll certainly prevent a survivor dying on first hook to a face camp and stretch out the survs gake time and bp gain which is definitely good, but I feel it'll do a lot of harm to the game, particularly at high mmr, where survs already have a big advantage.

This really isn’t true, though. We all know through experience that the matchmaking systems functionally does not work because it heavily prioritizes speed over fairness. Lots of people on this forum, myself included, are constantly going back and forth between matches filled with noobs and matches filled with 5,000 hour+ sweat lords. Doesn’t matter how many matches I win or lose.
The way I understood it is it's an average. So one survivor should be below ur rank another will be above ur rank and final two will be closer to your rank (or high and low again). But it should even out in a perfect world. Yes queue can make it toss that equation out of the windows, though.
-
@H2H said:
maybe all the survivors who constantly complain about solo queue should just stop trying so hard so their mmr will go down and they'll face easier killers
You're acting offended that people told you truth. The way MMR works is more wins/ harder opponents. That works for survivors AND killers.

i think what he meant was if you do things that lack any time of skill such as camping, and you go above your head on mmr. eventually you are going to put yourself on a class where those people do know how to defeat your camp strategy and at that point, you will be complaining the killer you are trying to use isnt powerful becasue you unnaturally moved your self into a classification where you cant do anything.
To sum it up play sweaty (Camp, tunnel, gen-rush) will yield more sweaty opponents. Playing chill and go for hooks (like I do) and you have chill games.

Oh a content creator with preferential matchmaking that never plays against good teams, I'm soooo impressed. Watch survivor performance instead of mindlessly spamming stuff.
It's okay to just admit the person accusing him of not playing killer was wrong. Regardless of matchmaking, he's killing survivors and finding away around gen-rushing. Why not look at his content to help you with killing survivors and getting around gen-rushing.
-
@SpiritsHusk said:
Yes, It may even be possible to gen rush efficiently on solo queue, I reckon there will be a lower amount of players going for unhooks, rather only 1 going and allowing the rest of the team to crack gens, it will be quite difficult to apply pressure as a killer without tunneling
I think what your saying is, "If a killer is camping then the survivor can just jump off the hook by themselves". Which is yes. That's the plan.

That still leads to the same problem of survivors just waiting out the hook for as long as possible. The devs have been adding ways for the game to just end when outside of very niche scenarios the game is over and it's just needless waiting.
EGC exists to prevent hatch standoffs (there was a situation where people were waiting hours over hatch) and survivors just hiding and not escaping to spite the killer. The instant hook kill exists to end the game so people can't force waiting out 2 extra minutes. And the devs are looking to combat letting the last survivor bleed out with the end game mori.
Again, why rob the survivor of his Kobe chances. Why would the game rob one side of anything for the time convenience of the other? Why allow slugging to rob survivors of 4 minutes for half a decade? Your excuse doesn't add up.
BHVR took away last survivor kobe chance out of respect for killer main's time, at the expense of the survivor for years. So long that in your mind it actually seems like an okay trade-off.

It's hardly a failed experiment when it was a test on experimental changes they stated they plan to add to the game during the Chapter 6 anniversary stream that they said weren't ready to go live with.
And yes it prevents killers from just slugging the last guy forcing them to bleed out for 4 minutes which is the same thing when the last survivor could just stay on hook for 2 minutes out of spite.
Noone is asking the killer to wait 2 minutes. But at least give the survivor the 1st hook state (which isn't two minutes) and their 3 chances at an unhook.

It was inconvenient for killers to wait. So they removed an entire players chance to unhoook and escape, just to reduced to the killer's wait time for their 4K. Tells you everything you need to know about DBD in a nutshell, lol.

Sometimes they’re scared, sometimes they’re doing challenges. Sometimes they’re exploring. Idk. You tend to get a variety of experience levels with MMR when you play.
Especially now that reliable self healing is impossible. You're asking solos to go for saves and do gens injured with the increase of camping and tunneling. Which makes them more cautious, which makes them slower.
-
@Hex_Llama said:
I think everyone agrees that the normal experience in solo queue is losing, but I think how much that bothers you depends on your expectations. I've never entered a survivor match with the expectation that I'm going to win, because my only experience with it is solo q and losing. So, that feels normal to me and, if I manage to escape, it's a pleasant surprise.
This has to be one of the most depressing DBD statements I've seen.
-
This is probably due to the nerf to self healing with CoH and/or Medkits. I see more survivors walking around looking for heals (literally, combing through chest) with people on hooks. Self healing was a core mechanic of this game since release. It was essentially yanked away by removing it from essentially removing it from perks (CoH nerf, making self-care work against you) and by capping Medkits (usage and self healing speeds).
After removing this core mechanic, they nerfed some gen regression perks which encourages killers to patrol gens more themselves. So less chasing; more self protecting gens; and fewer heals is leading to more survivors being caught already injured. Or...survivors not doing anything until they are full health again.
Eventually, (hopefully) survivors will adapt to 'no heals'. They will learn to run the killer better with one health state; as well as hammer gens when not in chase (but injured) in a few weeks. But it will be hell until they do.
This is a soloQ issue of course. Playing in a group makes all of these issues disappear, lol.

The main issue is that dead hard was supposed to have been nerfed in the 1st meta shakeup, and we had a few weeks where I didn't see it much at all, and then it went back to being the #1 exhaustion perk in my games, by a huge margin. And nothing was done about it, and everyone had to wait a year for the 2nd meta shakeup.
And now dead hard was nerfed again during the 2nd meta shakeup, but we aren't sure if this will be the same situation, where after a few weeks, the dead hard usage might rise again. And this is a major concern, because if the dead hard usage rises again, will anything be done about it, or will everyone need to wait a year for the 3rd meta shakeup?
You still aren't explaining why a perk being used is a bad thing. Asking for a perk to be nerfed just so you have an easier time is not a good reason. Does the nerfed DH substantially draw out chases still? No, it can't even be used on the first chase.
What is 'game breaking' about the current state of DH?

In my opinion, I feel that BHVR making the win Conditions for both sides as escapes and kills should be changed.
Chases are more fun for survivors. Getting more hooks as killer makes you feel good as it shows your doing well in the chases.
Make the game more about hooks and chases / helping your team. I feel that while it would not take away camping, tunneling, gen rushing completely. I do feel It would help make the game more fun.
Remember, win and lose with dignity.
This is indeed the fix. Make win conditions number of hooks for killers and some combination of gens+chase+saves for survivors. Eliminate kills and escapes from the equation. Maybe even add a second objective. Like making it so killer can perma destroy gens and then survs have to make a weapon to fight the killer (like in HSH).

People need to properly test it and come to their own conclusions.
If you think the unbreakable basekit was not needed, you surely have not been bled out constantly just for griefing, or being slugged to ensure that 4k, which are awful situations that MUST BE ADRESSED.
Said that, i cant speak about the balance of this change until i properly test it in ptb, because many things can appear broken on paper.
The amount of protest to slugging being nerf'd kinda shows that ALOT of killers use this as their go to strat. Thus, proving that something needed to be done about it. Only, 1 in 5 players each match having fun in unsustainable for the game. When you down a survivor, just hook them and the 45 second timer is gone.

This is why BHVR hid the numbers before the nerf. They KNEW it wasn't justified but were going to ram it through anyways. "Killer should strike fear into the Survivors" is a poor excuse for further breaking the games balance. They're inducing frustration not fear and the DCs/suicides will continue until BHVR understands the difference. As well as killer queues growing as it dawns on survivors nothing is going to be done for soloQ because kills are "within a range that we’re comfortable with",

I also know noone queues thinking, "I'm going to suicide and F it up for everyone else." People want to enjoy their gaming experience. And until BHVR can provide them with a more fun or customized experience (or offer a refund), people will take it upon themselves to customize their experience in the form of DCs and suicides. I don't believe players enter the game thinking, "I can't wait to DC/suicide". This probably happens when they get discouraged.

No, it happens a lot. Sometimes the teamates make it in time but they already put themselves into death hook state.
I have seen this as well. At least the hook suicide was prevented, though. Now as killer, resist the urge to come back to the hook. So they can heal up. Instead, try to go after another survivor. Watch how the game plays out.

Its a multiplayer game. Survivors can just set the pace of the game as killers do. Its ok, that you only want to play against new players, by always letting them go and ensuring that your mmr rating keeps low. But more experienced survivors are perfectly capable of setting the pace of the game.
Suiciding just ruins the game for everyone involved. There is no excuse for that. You claim that its justified, because the killer plays scummy and you want to get out. But how would the killer play scummy, if the survivor already attempts to suicide on the very first hook, while the killer is leaving? I´ve seen this way to often. While i´m on my way to unhook, how the killer is at the other end of the map and yet... my teammate tries to suicide.
There simply is no excuse. Either play the game normally or don´t ready up for a match.
If the killer is truly on the other side of the map, then hook suicide is very unlikely to happen. Because the teammates would just unhook the survivor before the hooked person misses the 2nd skill check. That's not to say that occasionally you won't be running up as they fail that 2nd skill check. But in most of my games (both as killer and survivor), if the killer leaves the hook; typically a survivor runs up and rescues. Often there are 2 already waiting to bomb the hook.
No one joins the game to just DC/suicide. They're usually expecting to play an engaging round.

Doing the objective isn´t ruining the game.
3v1 because survivor suicides; 3v1 because the killer camps/tunnels. Objective or not, both actions can ruin the game from the remaining 3.
My main killer is Nemi. I've run Eruption, Jolt, Oppression, and BBQ since the first RE DLC (Billy was my main before that). I typically hook 2 times and let the survivors go. But during this time I patrol my 4-gen, breaking chase early (usually after 1 whip-hit), and keep the survivors on their toes. My perks helping to create a sense of hopelessness.
I've only had 2 DCs on Nemi that I can remember. Both of which were at the start of the match. I've NEVER had a hook suicide. But the games went on and the other 3 survivors escaped. DCs did not ruin the game for the others. Because I had direct control of that in the way I played.
BHVR gave killers the ability to set the tone for a match. My favorite survivor match was with a Myers years ago that seemed to always get the jump on us. He appeared out of nowhere; scared the heck out of us; hooked us all at least once; then let us go. There is a way to play that is tense & fun for all involved. But you cannot play selfishly as killer and then chide survivors for playing selfishly in turn.

With the difference, that you ruin the game for everyone else.
Both actions can ruin the game for the other survivors.

Do you really think, that someone who plays killer has an aggression problem?
Getting someone more responsible who gets rewarded with a gg ez noob killer, pls uninstall after the game? Because there might be a reason, why we see so few of those...
Yes, occasionally as killer I get a "gg EZ" from survivors. Just like occasionally as survivor I see "gg EZ" from the killer. There are trash talkers on both sides. It's no excuse to use your developer given power role to play like a jerk.
Sure it's your right, but so is hook suiciding to get to the next game faster.
