There is in fact no non-hackable way 3 gens can pop in 1-2 minutes while a killer chases one survivor. So no it doesn’t go both ways.
3 gens can easily pop within 1 minute and 30 seconds while a killer chases one survivor if 3 survivors are on 3 separate gens. If the killer doesn't have deadlock and survivors have toolboxes or bnps it's more then possible.

Are we really nerfing Freddy? Again? Hasn't the poor guy suffered enough already? Well, I guess his name is all the more fitting now. He is a Nightmare indeed. A nightmare to play, that is.
First he is butchered with a bunch of nerfs all aimed to make him as weak as possible. Then his best perks are nerfed (not a direct nerf to him but it does affect him still). Then, you nerfed the dream pallets. Multiple times! Seriously, explain this thought process! There weren't any issues with him having a bit of synergy with some perks. And now this too?
If there is one killer in the game, that desperately needs buffs, it's Freddy. He is by far the weakest of them all. Even Trapper has his strengths. Freddy on the other hand is just bad. He doesn't have a power half the time, he has no early game, he has no end game (courtesy of Adrenaline) and when he does have a power, it's pretty bad. He is half a Clown (quite literally, if you have a look at their respective powers). Most popular perks are also pretty bad on him, because they require getting downs, which isn't exactly one of his strengths. Add in the fact that he is countered by basically everything and anything that can or cannot happen and it's pretty clear, that he is in a terrible spot.
Myers and Freddy. Myers base kit needs major buffs and his tombstone piece add on gone.

All fine and I agree he needs it.
but you do have official word that the rework is planned and coming in the future but that it’s still some time to go as it hasn’t even hit design phase a few weeks ago and these things take more time than you think.
expecting it right now and then being pissed off is low. Even for a Karen.
He hasn't been significantly touched in years that was my point. But I am glad to hear something is eventually planned in the future. That's certainly nice to hear finally.

You are setting yourself up to be pissed off because a teaser that is purposefully vague shows a kitchen knife which kinda fits half of all slasher killers?? When you already got official confirmation that Myers rework is coming in future but not that soon as it hasn’t even hit design phase a few weeks ago?
I'm a paying customer. I own all the characters, survivors and killers. And I hate to pull out the Karen card here. But like I've said the only reason I started playing this game is because I realized I could play as Michael Myers. I've played mainly as him for 2 1/2 years now and when I started playing the character everyone was already shouting that he was outtdatted and that was almost 3 years ago now. Popular streamers like Otz saying his D tier and the worst killer in the game for awhile. So I've been anxiously awaiting some sort of update even if it's how he looks or new skins of some sort. He badly needs a rework because his base kit does not keep up with the direction this game has gone.
Also let me just clarify its MICHAEL MYERS. The icon, the one who probably got this game to the heights its gotten to as he was the FIRST licensed killer.
-
@MikaelaWantsYourBoon said:
People so confused about that because both weapons are looks so similar. But no, the knife in teaser is not belong to Myers. As you see, it's 99% Chucky's knife.
It's a standard kitchen knife. Looks just like Myers knife to me. And quite frankly if this isn't a Myers rework I'm going to be pissed off as I main him and he's so outdated. I've been waiting for some kinda of change for years now.
-
It's proved camping and face camping isn't as big of a problem as everyone makes it out to be. I haven't had the chance to use the self unhook yet and I've played over 100 survivor games.
-
Old dh getting nerfed saved me from quitting this game.

It was bad they buffed tunneling/camping massively while pretending to fight it, increasing killrate is cool but not if you do it in the worst possible way by making cheap tactics more viable
DS nerf in particular is stupid it was already weak at 5 seconds especially against blight/nurse, and hook timers are too short in current version with 90 seconds gens and perks like pain res and deadlock, facecamp is too strong these brainless strats should be nerfed very hard to uselessness or adjusted for endgame only
DS was weak? Lmao. Ok maybe against a good Nurse or Blight. Besides that the perk was extremely powerful.

i haven't escaped against him yet, and if i have then it was because he was really bad at the game and was most likely a literal 20 hour beginner like people were back when stranger things released. i genuinely can only do so much against him, and i know its probably just a skill issue on my part, but he doesn't get punished hard for missing his tail whip and the fact he can M1 in runner mode is insane to me. and he has insane map traversal along with moving at 4.6, to me at least in my opinion, hes VERY very bloated and his addons can make his only counter much weaker.
im 100% fine with him having an anti loop power, its just, he should move at 1.2m/s if he misses like in the PTB and he shouldn't have access to his M1 during it (only his tail). if he needs buffs for that then just make his power transition optional, like press CTRL if you want to go into runner mode or something like that. it just feels like theres no counterplay to him and it feels worse because since hes new people are gonna play him for like 2 weeks.
If he didn't have access to his m1 then you'd have to perfect his tail attack which is a nuisance sometimes. The hit box on it very strange and misses a lot for me.
-
Someone on this thread seriously said the killer can see survivors wherever they are and that's to the killers advantage? Uhhh what lmao. It's the opposite, the survivor always see the killer coming and can hold forward for ages.
-
Any counterplay they give survivors that shuts off a killers power is always going to be stupidly oppressive. It's 4 vs 1 with the killer on a complete time crunch to begin with. The amount of pallets on maps alone is already oppressive enough.
I just played Myers (i know bad m1 killer) in the new Nostromo map, what a joke lmao. A pallet every 5 feet it felt like. Nothing I can do. Got a down, the last 2 gens pop back to back right as I get the down. I pick up my down and the only hook nearby gets saboed. The games a total joke as killer at even medium high level vs good survivors at this point. Depipped 3 games in a row and gave every game a 1 star rating in fun. Not a skill issue. I'm using 1 slow down and not tunneling, games go way to quick for me to do anything. I hate using sweat builds its boring but the game forces you into it or you don't even get a chance to play the game apparently. Dropped 11.99 on the dlc to play a bunch of miserable matches.
-
No idea why Deja Vu isn't 100% meta. I use it in solo queue and that perk never leaves my build now. Absolutely love it. Does it 100% fix hard 3 genning? No. But in lots of matches its a been a total savior for me.
-
Seriously? Hold W as soon as you hear the massive terror radius and pre-drop pallets when he reaches you and your totally fine.
But of course your teammates better be on gens which is hard to ask for some reason still.
-
Buckle Up and FTP is legit infuriating as killer now. Survivors can just walk right up to you and use this crap and get away scott free, BOTH OF THEM! Endurance is becoming a big problem in this game now. Way way way to many times that the killers inputs just literally don't count and it's dumb. Buckle up on its own I don't care but with for the people it's complete BS.
-
@Sava18 said:
When did you leave? If you are talking about before 6.1.0 survivor then there was -20 perk variety.
Yeah idk what people are talking about. Perk variety was always terrible in this game. Pre 6.1.0 every single survivor build was DS, DH, Unbreakable, And some mix of Adrenaline, Borrowed Time.

The two things i'd fix on that map is main house either has windows open on top floor or bottom floor, not both. I'd remove that vault in the parking lot too. Those two changes would go a long way to making that map feel better.
That parking lot loop is ridiculous over powered and safe. You've got a strong window that forces a bloodlust on the killer and also a pallet. I don't understand why the map designers keep screwing over m1 killers like this.
-
@ratcoffee said:
they reward you for taking a risk by staying injured instead of healing up. the survivor is trading one resource, health, for a different one, speed.

This is a point I've never seen made and honestly.... VERY GOOD POINT!
It's done like this by design. Take something away from survivors and give them something just as strong in return. So they won't cry about it. Meanwhile killer players get gaslighted at every corner. Dead Hard was OP as hell for what 5-6 Years. They finally nerf it and the game starts moving in a healthier direction and they add MFT and we are back to square one again.

I really just seriously hate matchmaking. Because guess what I get high skill survivors every match and low skill survivors when I play survivor. I mean it shouldn't be that hard stop with this if you escape or how many kills the game can seriously have a better matchmaking by more performance like how many gens were done before your first hook or how long did the chase last before you were downed or escaped. Performance isn't just escaping it also involves what you did because what I see is this a teammate who did nothing all match and escaped is now at a high skill level. That shouldn't work like that because they didn't do anything.
No kidding. MMR sucks.

It's never been true. I personally can win games without camping, tunneling, or 3-genning. I consider myself a pig main, so I'm not abusing strong killers or add-ons either. And the streamers that I do watch can consistently do the same.
And I'm but no means saying I'm amazing or godly at the game, but I have some skill in chase and really good have sense to understand where survivors are and likely where they're going to be.
I also focus on where I can improve at the game, which is the biggest difference. Anyone who says 'you HAVE to 3 gen' has given up on trying to improve and is closed minded to trying to play anything other than gen kick simulator.
Or they've reached an MMR where the only viable strategy is tunneling and 3 genning. But please keep telling everyone how you can win all your Pig matches without doing any of this. Most over used survivor main argument who once and awhile plays killer.

Cool guide but they’re gonna have to nerf her tbh.
any sadako playing hit and run style is an instant win atm
I sadly agree and can see the nerf coming. And I'm the biggest advocate of buffing weak 1 killers. I don't think condemned moris should be happening almost as much as getting hook deaths.
I've had a couple games as survivor now where I was very actively trying to prevent myself from being condemned while also trying to be efficient on the gens as much as possible and I was condemned killed still.
Maybe they need to make the 75% of a stack 50% of a stack of condemned or they need to make the cooldown longer on the teleport. Feels like they are just spamming the teleport and it's causing so much condemned that its slowing the game down massively. More then pinheads box or pigs traps even.

what if nobody holds a tape then. it goes back to old version where nobody interacts with her TV's because the mechanic is not threatening enough to do so.
They have no choice. She can practically spam her teleport to condemn people. At some point they will have no choice but to interact with a tv.
-
I think the condemned builds up to fast now. Probably needs to be dialed back a tiny bit. Instead of 75% of a stack 50% of a stack. Keep the 2 stacks with a tape. At the moment it's just teleport spam for moris.

You aren't being punished for playing fair and not tunneling. You were outplayed. That's all there is to it.
Sure MFT + Hope is broken, but Hope by itself would've had them escape anyway. Your problem is that once survivors finish those gens, your chances of winning decrease drastically and rightfully so. You, as the killer, failed to prevent the survivors from completing their objective.
What, exactly, do you think Killer should get once all the gens are done since you're clearly upset about hatch and that 4% self-unhook chance? Free hook states? 5% Haste?
Here's the thing about not tunneling: It isn't a free pass to do whatever they want. It's a chance for them to get well away from the hook. If they jump on a gen, try to blind you, bodyblock, or do anything aside from healing, then they're fair game.
I've had games where all my chases were less then 20 seconds start to finish. Winning all mind games and the gens still get done. Tell me how that's outplayed? It's called gen speed is way faster then the killer can do there objective even playing near perfect.

I dont understand why perks like sprint burst, lithe, balanced landing and other exhaustion perks exist. they have NO downsides, it takes ZERO skill to use it and wastes the killers precious time. what im suppose to do when playing m1 killers? I sneak to a gen, I uncrouch, survivor starts holding W and makes it to safe pallet. meanwhile all I can do is watch him get away. I dont understand why nobody mentions how busted and broken exhaustion is. I know this game is super survivor sided unless im playing nurse or blight, but man I had enough of these exhaustion already. they need to be REMOVED from this game.
Lithe and Spring Burst are annoying as hell sometimes. Sprint Burst allows them to just greed the gen for free and Burst off to a god pallet or loop that you can't do anything about. Then they just go back and finish the gen when you drop chase, no downside whatsoever. They are time waste central which the killer already has very little of.

What percentage of DbD's playerbase is "good"?
Should those Killers all just be buffed to compete with good players and just have them totally curbstomp average players?
Average players can get better. And should get better. If they don't then that's their problem. This nonsense is what's killing the balance of the game. You don't balance the game around people that suck. Gen speed for example should be balanced around efficient players who do them, not survivors who never touch a gen.

Wrong. Bloodlust is a built in mechanic for horrible map design. Many loops an M1 killer will never even be able to contend without bloodlust.

I do actually. You don’t have to time it right at all - if the survivor is in the middle of unhooking they will get grabbed. If they choose to let go so as not to get grabbed then they will get hit instead. That will give them a second to finish unhooking but will give you another hit and wham you just got another hook. The only challenge might be if the survivor you just hit backs away so that another healthy survivors can wiggle in and do the unhook. Still, if that’s the case you have at least 3 ppl wasting time with you and chances are you’re going to down or engage in chase with one of them. Maybe you should try playing the other side as it’s far more difficult for a survivor to pull off a successful unhook with a camping killer than it is for a killer to get a grab.
I play both sides. I've been grabbed many times but also not grabbed many times. It's pretty 50/50. Maybe 60/40 in killers favor.

I don't have the details handy at the moment, and I can't reveal anything that hasn't already been announced, but cases like this a bit different. Individual add-ons are much easier to squeeze in than a full scale rework, and there's far less concern of completely throwing off the balance when we're only changing a handful of problematic add-ons. If there's a Killer that is consistently struggling across the board, then it's also much easier to justify giving them a little boost to help them out. In those cases, it becomes more a matter of timing & resources.
He's almost unplayable without add ons. His tier 1 he's way to slow. And his power is nothing special now considering how many killers have been added to the game that have similar stuff in their kit JUST BETTER.

Devs should check their stats deeper.
Looking at the kill rate is a thing, understanding why the kill rate is that high with Myers or Trapper, for exemple, is another matter.
They should check if, when the trials ends up with a 3k to 4k, the killer has killed one survivor really fast (camping/tunneling) or has hooked the same survivor 3 times in a row or used pink add-ons (for the clown for exemple).
If it is the case, it doesn't mean that those killers are ok, it means that players are using cheap mechanics (exploiting design flaws) or OP add-ons to win.
Amen. Not understand what's so hard to analyze with this.

@DavidHypnos said:

Furthermore, they aren’t consequence free unhooks. You can still injure survivors and if you’re camping you’re probably gonna end up with a hook trade rather than just a save.
Injure them lol. And if there is more then 2 survivors alive it's GG EZ as they shft W to the exit gate scott free. Unless your Nurse, Blight, Spirit or have STBFL.

@Peanits said:
I can chime in here.
Being afraid has nothing to do with it, it's more to do with time management and priorities. Large scale Killer reworks require a huge amount of time between designers, programmers, and QA. In order to do these types of large Killer reworks, we need to sacrifice on other things such as new features, perk balancing, etc. In a perfect world where we could squeeze as much as we want into a single update, these sorts of reworks would probably be more common, but sadly that is just not possible. Everything comes with a tradeoff.
As for why these sorts of reworks aren't the highest priority, this is where it gets a bit more complex. First off, we're at the point where there are 32 Killers in the game and counting. Even assuming that each Killer is played exactly equally, this would mean that each Killer is only seen in a little over 3% of all matches. Spending a significant amount of time on an update that only affects ~3% of matches is harder to justify when it means sacrificing new highly requested features or a bunch of perk updates which could impact all matches.
Beyond that, there is only so much we can do to make a Killer appealing to everyone. Different Killers focus on different playstyles. Some may be focused on setting traps, others on keeping Survivors busy, some on chases, and so on. These different playstyles can help fill different niches. A newer player who's having a hard time finding Survivors might be drawn to The Doctor, for example. Naturally, certain playstyles become more successful in high end matches and others fall out of favour. Experienced Survivors, for example, are less likely to stumble into a trap because they know what to look out for and can predict where the Killer may have placed them. Each power also has a different skill ceiling, so while some allow you to continue improving almost endlessly, others have an upper limit by virtue of their design.
Making each Killer equally strong at the highest skill levels is not the goal. Dead by Daylight is for everyone, not just the few at the very top. Often times these Killers are already doing pretty well in the vast majority of matches even if they fall out of favour in higher end matches. In these cases, buffing these Killers to the point where they are competitive in a high end match would cause them to be far too strong in the majority of matches. This is a net-negative change. While yes, it may be better for you, it makes things worse for the majority of players. Everyone's experience matters, not just those with more skill. In reality, it is not possible for every Killer to be equally viable at all skill levels.
Something else that we need to consider are the players who already enjoy these Killers the way they are. Legion is a perfect example of this. There's no shortage of suggestions to rework The Legion's power to make them stronger. Yet in spite of this, The Legion is consistently one of the most played Killers. While they might not be the strongest in high end matches, there is still a large crowd who enjoy them as is. That raises the question, is it worth reworking a Killer that many people already love to play just to make people who don't play them happy?
The Trapper is also a special case. He's the poster boy, front and center on all the artwork. He's the Killer you'll face and play during the tutorials, and he's unlocked by default. This is all very intentional; new players are naturally going to gravitate towards him. His power is very simple and easy to understand, and it tends to be fairly balanced in matches between newer players. He serves a special role of being a stepping stone toward learning the game. Because of this, his power is intentionally kept as simple and intuitive as possible (pick up a trap, set a trap), and he is intended to be fairly balanced in these sorts of games.
All this said, that doesn't mean we'll completely ignore these Killers. We do make smaller balance changes on a regular basis, and larger reworks are still planned to release from time to time. But we do need to keep everyone in mind when making these decisions and consider the role they currently fill in the game, as well as whether or not our time would be better spent on balance changes that could affect all players rather than a select few matches. It would be a different story if there were only a handful of Killers to choose from, but the roster is fairly big at this point. The goal isn't so much to make every last one of them perfect for everyone, it's to make sure that there's at last few options that appeal to everyone, regardless of how they play.
What about Myers? I'd say 99% of the community thinks his base kit is outdated and power creeped to death and needs buffs and his tombstone piece add on needs to be reworked. This killer made DBD what it is today he hasn't received any significant changes in years.
Without the Halloween chapter does this game even get off the ground back in 2016? How about some love for thr iconic first licensed killer.

The fact the devs think kill rates is a good way to measure the spot a killer in is laughable. You can still camp people to death in this game and that count as a "kill" lmao

A Myers main I have no idea. It's universally known that he completely sucks ass without tombstone add ons and they refuse to buff him. It's a joke. Nerf his tombstone add ons and BUFF HID BASE KIT!!!

Me using Killer to farm BP at 3 times the speed of my Survivor matches since 6.1.0, running around with jolt + whatever random perk my killer has available at the time, only to open the forums and read this nonsense.
My guy, if anything, I agree killer isn't fun because survivors just drop dead seconds after you find them. I can count with the fingers of both my hands the times I got obliterated by survivors, and two of these times were my fault because I gave kindness to those who didn't deserve it. And I play with the most suboptimal stuff you can imagine because I can't be bothered to stress over unlocking killer stuff.
Go play a couple of matches of survivor soloq and come back to tell me if you've figured out the true meaning of despair.
How many hours on killer do you have? Anyone with thousands of hours has been obliterated by dozens of survivor groups over the span of their dbd career. If you say otherwise you are either a total liar or you play at potato MMR. Learning a new killer alone when they first come can leave you prone to getting destroyed. I don't believe you can count on 2 hand how many times you've been stomped if you have a good amount of hours. Sounds like survivor sided propaganda to me.

Check Steam profiles looking for people on each other's friends list and for thousands of hours, if they're all private, bounce. Dodge people with clan tags or names that play off each other. Dodge multiple pink or purple hair cosmetics. Look for a mix of platforms, if they're all on your platform or all off platform, bounce. Dodge 2+ toolboxes, gens are fast enough as it is. Don't play against TTV or P100. If someone burns MacMillans probably give up immediately and just hit the exit gate repeatedly until the game's over, comp squad type teams always burn the bone
I play on PS5 so I can't really check steam profiles. But I can usually tell when they are an off platform pc player.

Same reason they won’t buff Trapper - the stats say he’s fine.
He has some busted add ons and those inflate his kill rate so he appears in a good spot from a stats perspective.
That's why his kill rates should be analyzed when he's not using those add ons. I'd be willing to bet its pretty low on the list. If they see how far his kill rate drops without those add ons it should show them his kit is serverly lacking.

My suggestion would be to learn how to be selective with your lobbies. I can give you some pointers if you'd like
I'd gladly take the pointers. What are they?

Corrupt, Plaything, Jolt, and Monitor is my favorite build with him. When it goes well its very fun. However when the gen rush happens forget about it, which is like 50% of my games now.
And now with lots of survivors running MTF+Hope sometimes you literally can't even catch up to them before they get out the exit gate. Him and M1 killers in general have been just left to rot and die by the devs. All the meta shifts and the amount of improved survivors have left Myers and others in the dust.

Jumpscare Myers has been a essential part of DBD culture and should be preserved. So I propose making Myers a Killer who starts off as a stealth killer, but becomes less stealthy and more brutal as the game continues.
Evil Within - As a learning game developer myself, I know how nightmarish it can be to refactor spagetti code. Especially on a killer as old as Myers, so I propose the following change.
Overall Changes.
Firstly, Remove the Tombstone addon. It is unhealthy for Myers and this is coming from a killer main. Leave the insta-kill to the Iridescent Addon and Moris.
Secondly, we will need a bit of context.
Evil Within builds charge by "draining" evil from survivors. Once a Survivor is completely drained, the power is useless and you become a M1 killer.
I propose changing the "amount" of evil in survivors to unlimited, but in return, halve the charge rate of evil within, then test to find a sweet spot to balance him out.
New Passive - Ever-present Evil: While Myers has the Undetectable Status effect and is NOT at Stage 1 of Evil Within, he gains a 5% Haste Effect. (This effect is to not only give him some mobility, but it also pays homage how in old slasher movies, the killer always seems to have some unnatural speed when out of sight of the protagonist.)
This should be easy to implement in the spagetti code. Check for the status effect, and if he has it, give him a speed boost.
The next changes I can't really speak as confidently on as they can be more difficult to implement depending on how the code works.
Evil Within Stage 1 -
- Give Myers a Normal Lunge Range, he still has slower movement speed.
Thats really all that I would change from Evil Within 1, give him a normal lunge.
Evil Within Stage 2 -
- When Myers enters Evil Within Stage 2 by any means, he gains the Undetectable Status effect for 20 seconds.
This change is to allow Myers to use his new passive ability throughout the match. After going on a large rampage, he then goes quiet, so that Myers constantly hops between this stealthy unseen menace and a unstoppable menace.
Evil Within Stage 3 -
- While Lunging, Myers cannot be stunned.
- Increase Vaulting Speed by 50%.
- While in Evil Within Stage 3, Myers cannot gain the Undetectable Status effect.
While in stage 3, Myers needs to become a rampaging monster. This is when in the movies, he attacks, tossing stuff over and ignoring bullet shots to get to his victim.
All in all, I hope this idea sounds good. Please let me know what you think and, yeah, thank you for even reading this. Take care!
I'm a Myers main and I'd pay good money for a rework. You're ideas sound beautiful. Idk way bhvr has left this killer in the dust.
