Then they will lose people and revenue. Its already almost 5 minute queue for killer and its only gonna get worse as more casual and new players leave. Queues will continue to get worse until killers are waiting 20 minutes just to get paired with SWF parties. What killers don't understand is that 70% if not more of their games are against solo queues which are objectively easier to win against because of lack of communication and bad match making pairing.

So you're saying you want to hold the devs hostage. Either buff survivors so they have the easy life again or you're gonna take your money and run.

That's not how it works, chief. They try to make a balanced game. You can play it or leave. You got used to your crouch spam and bully squads and now things got a LITTLE harder and you wanna run away scared. Not our prob.

  • You want to throw our kindness back into our faces. We aren't required to give hatch. And anyone who whines about it is gonna know exactly why.

  • @Audiophile said:

You’ve finally captured that sense of hopelessness when facing a superhuman killer. Unfortunately that just isn’t very fun. You’ve lost an avid fan until you put out this garbage fire.

You really enjoyed that Press E simulator didn't you.

  • And it does nothing to reduce toxicity. If they really wanted to fix this problem they just wouldn't have an end game chat. But it exists, so you might as well let people say what's on their mind. We're adults.

  • Game was survivor sided. Devs specifically said kill rates were too low. How exactly did you THINK they were gonna handle this problem, give killers bots to kill? Nah, the game was gonna get harder for weak survivors. They were very clear about this.

  • @Sumnox said:

They're scared of making strong survivor anything. They've been for years.

If I developed an asymmetrical pvp game I would be extra cautious about empowering the 4 people in a 4v1 too. What is the point someone's trying to make with this very, very obvious design observation?

  • Uh, because it's implied and survivors don't want to admit they were using dh as a crutch. What do you think the problem is? Spoiler, I don't think there's a problem.

  • @tester said:

I just tried this full sweat build as a test. I'd normally do not subject anyone to such torture. They tried their best. Distributed between gens in different corners. Didn't loop bad at all. I didn't tunnel and didn't camp even for a moment. And they miraculously managed to finish 1 gen. If I chose to tunnel, they wouldn't even finish 1. How is this okay for balance?

I mean not for nothin, you got some mediocre survivors there, one of them has green perks and there are questionable choices. Also I'll say it again, if slowdown legion is a problem now he was. A problem last patch. There's 2 percent buff on thana and everyone acting like "omg this patch slowdown". Matches on average are not taking too long at all. You just had a really good game with your legion build.

This isn't news. It's one of the many ways a game can play out given certain maps perks and skill levels.

  • @Audiophile said:

Just curious as to who will go on record as saying the game is survivor sided at this point. You can feel free to distinguish between vs solo or swf.

Overall the game is incredibly balanced considering the complexities of balancing an asymmetrical game. However, there are tons of situations where a game does not feel fair. This doesn't bother me, but this is why people so often cite the game as being unbalanced. Sure, certain killers/survivors with certain perks on certain maps under certain situations are going to be a blowout one way or another. Not all games are winnable if you consider the skill and circumstances. That shouldn't be a big deal. This is not chess, it's not even a league of legends tournament. Sometimes you're going to pick perks for an indoor map and get hit with macmillan, or you will solo queue survivor and get 3 potatoes on your team. This does not automatically mean BHVR needs to change something. Their game will never be perfectly balanced (or even close) when it comes to solo queue, killers, different levels of MMR, and of course, SWF.

So sure uh, i'll go "on record" to say the game is quite balanced right now, especially considering a clear survivor meta has not been re-established yet. Dead hard and DS nerfs are going to require some time for survivors to 1) figure out what perk builds are most viable, and 2) learn how to loop a pallet one less time or otherwise play differently without DH in their pockets.

Ikr? Killers got nothing this patch while Survivors have super op *checks notes* Perks that do nothing after the objectives are done.

OTR needed a change for end game, but not this.

I don't think you're being reasonable about the purpose of this patch. This isn't Christmas morning and you aren't owed a present. The devs said killer kill rates were too low. Thats what their data told them. So they wanted killers to be stronger. It's a balancing patch. Survivors weren't supposed to get something in return.

Survivors will adapt and settle into a meta. And it's gonna be lithe and sprint burst with something like lightweight or calm spirit to help lose chase, plus a healing perk and maybe a gen speed perk. It's already happening

I'm obviously anti-tunneling but I don't think OTR is a good as people hype it to be.

If the killer is camping and someone pulls you off hook, you get basekit BT. If you get hit within those first 5 seconds of being unhooked, you take an endurance hit and from my understanding, they removed the ability to stack endurance hits so you wouldn't be able to take a 2nd endurance hit with your perk.

Let's say you make it past the first 5 seconds but you get hit anywhere between 6-15 seconds into being tunneled. Congrats, that's the same benefit you'll get from a teammate simply bringing new BT. So again nothing special.

This perk only really gains value if you're being tunneled and can go more than 16 seconds off hook without taking a hit.

Then what if the killer doesn't tunnel you. Well you either A: Go do a gen or something useful and cancel your perk or B: Chase the killer trying to make use of your perk and waste time. The perk is mid at best and I'd still argue C or D tier

Yes and no. I think most second chance type perks are situational, so the criticism you have of otr is "well if this and if this then it's no good". Unbreakable only works if you are slugged. Deliverance means you have to save someone first so you can't be the first one downed. They're all like that.

But also, otr is basically a personal BT so you aren't hoping the rescuer has the perk. That's good security. And killers like myself may wait out 5 seconds but otr will save you after that. Especially if you aren't making it obvious you can take a free hit. If you get tunneled you can waste the killers time which is great. And if you lose him you can get somewhere safe or re-engage to bait and help a teammate. Since I'm not a greet survivor and I don't like all the pre conditions on perks, I've actually found Otr to be versatile in how I choose to use it.

I see your concerns, I just think what you said about otr can be said about most perks in that group, and I can find a way to use otr or just be happy I didn't have to use it.

  • @Moxie said:

Because Killers cried survivor's "get a free escape at the end of the game".

So killers cried that a survivor was invincible for 80 seconds and could take his time body blocking before escaping with zero counterplay? How dare they!

  • @RakimSockem said:

In my experience from playing both roles, I've seen 2 things since the update.

    1. Survivors clinging to the old meta and desperately trying to make it work and

    2. A random mess of perks that hold little to no weight

Has anyone noticed any trends yet?

Please don't say Off the Record because I rarely see anyone using that trash over hyped perk

Since OTR is trash and over hyped, I assume you'll never make a post about tunneling, correct?

Lithe, OTR, prove thyself, and either something that helps with unhooks or with healing. I like deliverance.

And most of them are bad or not worth it on the others....very few Killers have anything good Iri addons.

    Doc has 2 good ones

    Demo has 1

Huntress has 1 if your good at sniping....

Exactly. Devs are aware, so it's time to play killers who have good greens or don't need addons until it's fixed. Meyers is the only killer I feel I need iri addons to customize my play style.

  • @bluedusef said:

the thing is that when gens or whatever gets changed, the playerbase then finds the easiest solution to counter it. like as your seeing now, gens got increased slightly which was a boring change and i think could of done better, but because of that, survivors are now stacking PT all together.

so the gens are now probably faster if your not using thana or whatever. but then killers will see survivors doing that and they will counter that by using thana and other slowdowns instead of using more fun perks.

BHVR is the problem here, not really the playerbase

That's not totally true, survivors did get something. They git gud.

What about people who didn’t have anyone prestiged or started playing after the update? For those people the new grind is unbearably slow maybe even gamebreaking.

Incorrect, but I'd love to see why you think this is true.

Here's the difference between old grind and new:

Old way - You leveled a killer or survivor to 40, and you unlocked their teachable perks. Yay! Now the fun part starts. you grind level after level on every player in hopes the new teachable perk appears (and still need to get it to T2 and T3)

New way - You level a killer or survivor to 50 and prestige them. Now all of that killer or survivors perks instantly appear (T1) for use. Note the difference. Now you don't have to find the T1 perk in the blood web. Every killer or survivor now owns that perk. Prestige the player again and that goes up to T2 (or simply find T2 in the blood web).

You passively gain perks across the board just by leveling up whatever player you want. You can still do it the old fashion way if you don't want to level up that killer, but most of the time you're going to instantly see perks appearing on every player during the normal course of play.

For people who don't know what this "meta" build is, it's basically just proxy camping. You use corrupt to delay gens, then hook survivors in the basement, move just far enough for monster shrine to activate, so they die faster, but the basement entrance is still in line of sight, so you can go in once you see someone tries to save, then you just wait for them to die, while deadlock helps to delay gens even more.

I mean it's literally a meme build. It's not meta. It's just a gimmick build and a weak one at that.

  • @Sumnox said:

Hm yeah I mean it's already been established all killer games are dumb easy now. Enjoy I guess. Might as well play a single player game against NPCs at this point lol

    I disagree.

  • Can you maybe type a full sentence like an adult if you're going to post a discussion on the forums?

  • "What did I do to get all the characters unlocked? I bought them."

    [

Yep. And you got your money's worth. Then they came around and gave you a bunch of extra stuff without having to spend any more of you're money. You're welcome for all the FREE stuff you got.

    RIP public school system

"When I say "free", I mean I already paid my time to play the character,"

So it wasn't free. It cost you time.

Also, I have no idea what line of work you're in, but that bottle of wine isn't free. It's a tax write-off that comes out of your and my pocket.

The more I read of your post, the more I realize how dumb this sounds. LOL

" I logged in once the patch hit and instead of a bunch of scattered perks and zero prestige killers/survivors (i never prestiged because i didnt want to lose addons), I ended up with over half my catalog P3'd and perks unlocked."

If you got that many people prestiged when you logged in, you definitely spent time on those characters, which means again, they aren't giving it to you for free, you still had to spend time leveling those characters and going through their bloodweb. (edited out a part I misremembered). Also, they prestiged you based on how many perks you'd unlocked on those characters, which again means that you spent time leveling those characters.

So honestly, I'm kinda calling BS.

You're having a very hard time with this. I also think it's weird to get so caught up in semantics. If you prefer you can stop fixating on the monetary value of perceived asset and instead say CHANGE GOOD CUZ GET NEW THING WE DID NOT GET BEFORE.

But yes, it was free. You're having trouble understanding the point. First of all, you didn't enter into a transaction where you agreed to pay your time for a service. You bought a game and played it, and along the way your time was rewarded by some bonus stuff. There was never a value placed on your time by the company. They didn't agree to compensate you.

And that can be set aside, because if I asked you 2 months ago "so what did you do to get all those characters unlocked?" You'd proudly spout off about how you traded your valuable time. Full stop. Then the patch comes out, and a bunch of new thing fell in your lap. That was never part of the deal, champ. You didn't know that was ever going to be in the game, so you used your time to play Dead by Daylight, you unlocked some characters and invested into their little blood webs, and one day you got WAY more than you initially expected and didn't have to do anything differently.

    You lose.

  • @cannonballB said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3079305#Comment_3079305

You didn't get those perks "free". You still have/had to level up the characters. Nothing in this life is free, especially perks in dead by daylight.

Ehh, I'm happy to tighten up the semantics if you like. I leveled up Adam Francis from 1-50 in one day by spamming Sadako and Doctor matches during my work conference calls. With flans being used left and right, and bbq on my killers, it was a piece of cake. P1'd him, and when the update hit he was P3. Instant T3 perks on all my survivors.

I've played for about a year. When I say "free", I mean I already paid my time to play the character, and one day they said "now we'll take your progress and instantly unlock all perk tiers for you!". It didn't cost me any more than I already agreed to pay.

If I sell you a boat for $5000, and when I deliver it, I also give you a nice bottle of wine, the bottle of wine was free. Just because you paid me doesn't mean the bottle of the wine is suddenly part of the cost. We agreed on a price and you got something more than you expected. I logged in once the patch hit and instead of a bunch of scattered perks and zero prestige killers/survivors (i never prestiged because i didnt want to lose addons), I ended up with over half my catalog P3'd and perks unlocked.

So yeah, I got it for free. You're wrong.

Wasting two perk slots to make a perk decent isn't for me

Then get used to some pretty sub par builds because for both killers and survivors, pairing perks for synergy is usually the most effective strategy.

  • @Rydog said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3079305#Comment_3079305

Anything previously generous that gets removed is still gonna feel like a penalty regardless. They should just give us all the free things with no caveats. Who cares? Just give us more BP, generally! Let us stack up all the BP in all the ways! It feels good when that happens. 2x BP events are when the game feels the best to play.

There's pretty well established psychology that disagrees with you. Devs for any game like this need to think about pacing the content. Unlocking everything all at once doesn't keep us playing as long.

I'll use myself as an example to show that even knowing about the psychology doesn't change it. I play much more when I have an incentive than when I just want to have fun. I played like a madman during anniversary event to get 2000 or so anniversary flans, stockpiling them and thinking "After this, I'll take it easy". Then the update came, and I played hard to P3 everyone so I could have perks. But even in the last 2 days, I'd see a random perk on a survivor (I'm a killer main) and think oh crap, if I hurry I can still level Adam and unlock his perks!

Now the update is here, and I played a ton of survivor the first day because of BP incentive. Now that there's no incentive, I'm playing killer to enjoy the new changes, but only in a relaxed way, enjoying being able to do any build I want, but still steering away from the killers who don't have flans. Basically, even when I'm full aware of what they're doing, I chase my points and play harder when I've got something to achieve instead of just enjoying the match.

That's why they do it. Also, not to be harsh here, but you said anything that gets removed is going to FEEL like a penalty. That's on you. They were shrinking the blood web by giving us all these perks and honestly I am SO, SO happy BBQ is gone. While I loved getting more bp, I felt like a hostage for that 4th perk slot. Now I can actually play the full build (i only use BBQ on Sadako right now and I enjoy the info) and design perks based on my goal for the game. For this patch, I basically got millions of BP of unlocked free perks and I got to use 4 perks of my choosing instead of 3. And I don't even need the bp. They're just for slowly and passively increasing prestige now. I couldn't be happier.

Appreciate the response. Seems a bit of a kick in the teeth to all players. There was no real response to remove double BP from BBQ or WGLF, other than you wanted the grind to continue.

This is wrong. There was a response to removing bbq, it was letting us earn another 8k points in every match. And considering many of us got millions of BP worth of free perks only days ago with the prestige bumps im disappointed but not surprised that so many people are acting like this was anything other than free generosity.
