And this goes especially to killers. The survivor side has such a big change. Nearly every meta perks were nerfed, you need longer for a gen, Thanatophobia has more impact now, Pain Resonance is still good, Overcharge has much more impact than before, they changed the enduring/deep wound so you can't take 2 hits (Yea, with Mettle of man is it possible, but how many times this will gonna happen. We can all agree that it shouldn't be that much).

In my last few games (Should be 17-20 games since the newest patch) I got 4 killers who play normally. The rest were only toxic, were tunneling, were facecamping, toxic in the endgame chat.. For no reason. No gen rush, no toxic looping or toxic behaviour.

It's only frustrating to play survivor. I play killer too and I only noticed that survivor are trying out something new. I played 10 matches and there wasn't such a big toxicity. (Yea, just 10 games, but 40 other player. This should be included). I know it's an unpopular opinion, but Dead Hard is still good. More situational, but still useable if you time it correctly. And you gain more distance. I still get value of DH. With DS too, but only just because the killers are tunneling harder than before. But Iron Will isn't useable anymore, I agree with that.

I just hope this will change until the next chapter. Just because of some changes that everyone evolves into tunneler and facecampers, more than before the patch. It has reached a new lowpoint

Congrats, your post makes you part of that low point now. See how it works both ways?

Kinda fun how killer try to justify anything that's in their favor, and deem anything else as toxic. Society loses all kind of ethics for as long as it benefits themselves.

Provide examples or just stop wasting our time. You aren't making a point.

  • @Anara said:

    You are wrong.

The meta has changes. Ive seen a lot of Overcharge, Call of Brine, Dragon's Grip.

And I saw a lot of chase perks not much used before.

    This patch is a blessing.

Jolt being big on k1 killers too. OP seems to think killers were never going to run slowdown perks again. That's silly. I for one love the flexibility I have between WHICH slowdowns I use, as well as chase and aura perks. Those things will always be necessary but my builds look more diverse than ever on both killer and survivor.

Preventing a hooktrade isn't toxic. But I guess this is that legendary killer hypocrisy.

Wrong. I won't speak for OP, but off the record is designed to keep you from being tunneled. If you want to use it offensively like the old BT body blocks, don't be surprised if you get tunneled or prioritized for the tactic. You have a right to play however you see fit, but if I suspect you're playing dirty I'm happy to return the favor.

    Is there a problem?

Before the update had hit, I'd compiled a list of 250+ survivor matches I played, both as part of a SWF of different sizes and as a solo. My escape rate across all types of matches was in the 60% ballpark, with there not being a huge difference between my solo games and SWF ones.

Since the update, I haven't kept those records (I honestly should have). I HAVE kept a closer look at my solo games, however, and my escape rate in those matches has been a nice, solid 50% (11 escapes in 22 matches). In 15 of those 22, all 5 gens were completed, and in 2 of those that I died that the gens were all finished, I made stupid mistakes in EGC that cost me what should have been 2 more escapes (which would have left me with a 59% escape rate, right around what I was averaging before the update). Playing SWF, the matches have gone about the same -- right around a 50% escaoe rate overall (last night's matches as a 2-person SWF were 3 out of 8 escapes, but 2 of those were matches that our random teammates threw and could easily have been escapes, while 1 was a Plague that caught everyone off guard with Devour, even though we still managed all 5 gens getting done).

Survivor play has definitely been more challenging, but not anywhere near impossible. There have been a LOT of matches where really bad plays by random teammates have resulted in a loss, where someone DC'ing early for no reason has put the team at a huge disadvantage, or a handful where I've just played poorly and paid for it. Two of the losses in solo came against a bugged and currently killswitched Clown, so that may have played a part in those games going the way they did as well.

My experiences only -- obviously, others may vary.

I'd be killing it right now if people didn't DC or suicide on hook. I'm around 40 percent escape, maybe 50, which is roughly the spot BHVR wanted to see. Update has been great and I've played more survivor than killer this patch (I'm a killer main)

  • @Tiufal said:

So hooktrading is fine, cause the killer benefits. Right?

Sure. I think he's just saying make it hard for killers to be nice and they just won't be nice. Act toxic get toxic etc

  • @Cleverotter said:

Iโ€™ve heard some rumors that some survivors are so pissed at the changes to their PRECIOUS dead hard, they are killing themselves on hook on purpose to inflate the kill rates.

That's just an excuse because "I'm a baby and I rage quit when I don't get my way" is too embarrassing to admit.

  • @Confused_Senpai said:

I was a day one player, achieved rank 1 both killer and Surv, and used to play with my friends and wifey. This game used to be so much fun to play and now all my friends are leaving, my wife doesn't want to touch the game and I can't blame them with the current state of everything. This patch was a mess in a lot of ways and once again just showed the incompetence of BHVR's Balancing team. Solo Q is a disaster as it's always been, the games just stopped being fun, it's no longer fun on the Surv side for obvious reasons and it's no longer fun on the killer side when people run to you to be hooked and sacrificed. The devs have made a mess of the whole game in general, anyways I wish you all the best to those sticking around and may the entity favor your future games.

Does it really look like it's good for the game? Of course not, but that doesn't fit your narrative. There are literally hundreds of posts stating otherwise. It's 2017 all over again when the game almost died. This time it might not come back.

Gove everybody what they want. No game would ever have nerfs again lol.

I appreciate that trapper got the ability to carry an extra trap but still feel he is very weak compared to the likes of nurse, blight etc.

How would you bring trapper up to their level?

Would you include any addons as basekit?

Starts with all his traps in hand, cannot step on his own traps. These two changes make him more viable for both new AND more experienced players.

    Also his traps should instadown.

And if someone gets caught in 2 traps they are automatically sacrificed to the entity.

Traps should have larger radius of effect not just a tiny spot to step on.

Traps should inflict mangled and hemmorhage if someone escapes them.

Trapper should be able to move at 150% for x seconds after setting a trap.

Because dead hard was the only thing changed in the patch notes last week, right? Right??

You're right. NOED and ruin were gutted too and you don't hear killers whining about that. They were long accused of using those perks as crutches. Some of us are just a little thicker skinned and aren't used to getting our way every time we cry on the forums.

Everyone seems to agree that solo survivors got destroyed with the last update (which is a fact).

A lot people are suggesting to buff solo survivors next patch such as giving more info with the ui. These solo buffs WONT CHANGE A THING.

The TOTAL game balance has been completely destroyed. Longer gens + faster m1 cooldown + shorter survivor sprint + faster bloodlust + endurance stacking removed + the ultra high survivability that DH gave to survivors is gone. They all work in synergy. the killer snowball effect has changed to an avalanche that happens the moment the first survivor is found. SWF was never the problem, seal team 6 SWF were, as well as killers that cry about getting beaten 1 game against normal SWF right after they 4k'd 10 games in a row.

With this patch SWF even feels completely trash, its just, not fun. (pls main killers refrain from typing "No FuN Cuz yOu cAnT buLly AnYmOre?" i dont care about bullying killers, i just want to enjoy the game like before.

Devs seem to be so out of touch and dont understand that we want balance and not a horror game that we should expect to die as survivor most of our games.

Cant wait for next patch where they change gen times from 90 to 89...

    plz devs, understand "synergy"...

First of all, you should have given your title more information. The title of your post should have read "Why are survivors still using self-care?" not just "self care". Be descriptive in your post if you want meaningful discourse. Secondly, you haven't given any information to us. You just assume everyone agrees with your point of view. You seem surprised that people still use self-care. Why? What is your position? You clearly must think using self-care is a bad thing, but since you won't tell us why, you're relying on the reader to do ALL the heavy lifting here. You basically came to the forums, took a squat in the middle, and crapped out a nice glistening mudpie which you titled "self-care" and expected us to run amok discussing the finer points of the perk.

Overcharges regression continues even after the generator has been tapped. Effectively giving a ruin like affect without a totem.

I'm also pretty sure the effect stacks with regression. So for example, if you were to have the effect active and the jolt hit the generator, it would be regressing at 175 percent. 100 percent from jolt and 75 percent from overcharge.

    Edit: https://youtu.be/cf4g1-GkCIs

You saying you want to replace Overcharge with a new perk called Killswitch? Kicking a generator regresses it to 0%.

got a horrible huntress and yet i just couldnt focus on how to loop her for whatever reason so i went down, yui was behind my hook and could save while huntress had hatchet aimed at me and yui was safe but instead hid around my hook and saved me after i was already second stage and then huntress tunneled me so I dc, out of anger. then i decide ill try another match its what i need to expect at low mmr since im playing with a friend who doesnt have much skill, get a plague with thana, pain res, jolt and ruin and refused to chase me in an area with nothing to go BACK to the hook and 1 for 1, so I quit and am done for the night. I can't play killer and i cant play with my normal friends because the low rank killers are insufferable and run these slowdown perks and crap, the fact i HAVE to play solo just to get decent matches where people still suck but at least they dont run all slowdown.

If you run all slowdown now of all times... you need some help man, thats the most EASY win in the game, all slowdown regardless of nerfs is just too strong against solo, yeah mmr is wonky but still this is very unfair for the worse players. killers have it too easy if they are allowed to stack slowdown on 90 second gens. thana can make it 120 and if people heal it still takes longer and if they heal the killer can have less pressure on them, this update was well needed, but gen slowdown stacking should not exist anymore.

short story short we need to not allow certain amount of certain perks, thats a balance change we need

I see a low level survivor with very, very limited game knowledge pretending she knows what's best for the game.

In this patch specifically the data shows that people are leaving in droves, from the actual drop % data to the genuine drop in positive on the steam game store. Of course you think DBD is a success, you're a killer main. So of course you're gonna say everything's good, just like you do on every other thread.

lol you don't know ANYTHING about the data "in this patch specifically". Literally more people are playing on a random Monday than in month averages in the recent months. While I expect that number to dip, it's an excellent data point. People are playing the heck out of this game whether you cry on the forums or not. That invalidates your opinion. You can whine about how unfair the patch was but the numbers look fine.

    Yeah,

I don't understand why people are even using Steam to prove or disprove DBD is failing. Only a small number of DBD players are on Steam, so to me, it just seems useless for pulling data.

I don't even know if you can use it as a sample because it's a homogenous group of computer players. Do computer players have the same behaviors as console players. I don't know.

In statistics, quality assurance, and survey methodology, sampling is the selection of a subset (a statistical sample) of individuals from within a statistical population to estimate characteristics of the whole population. Statisticians attempt to collect samples that are representative of the population in question.

You will learn a lot if you read this. It will make you better at debate and it will help you understand data a little more.

I don't think you're very good at sampling.

It's a smaller number than console players, but it will be an excellent representative sample. There will not be large changes in PC vs console behavior from patch to patch. So when you see a sharp rise or decline in steam charts, you can assume you'll see the same basic rise/decline in overall players. You can see this when you look at various chapter releases and anniversary events.

The fact that a solo queue player is forced to use half his perks on OTR and DS just so he can de-incentivize tunneling means that solo queue players only have 2 slots to use for everything else they need. That's a sad state of affairs for solo-queue.

I disagree. Taking 2 perks to safeguard yourself from the woes of soloqueue PLAYERS is fine (note I said players. You're safeguarding against scummy teammates who dont care about you, not the game, not the killer). That's fine with me. When I play soloqueue I know when I'm going in with an altruistic build vs a self-serving one. I'm willing to accept the risks. It's not BHVR or a killer's fault that your teammate would rather hide in a locker than body block or help you off a hook. Also, I don't ever bring DS and OTR. I bring OTR as my safeguard because an 80 second protection is insane and lets me do whatever I want as my next action.

Of course you did, lol. When you don't want to have a serious discussion, saying things like that is an easy way to concede that point. ๐Ÿ‘๏ธ

In fact, she does have the lowest kill rate -- the devs have confirmed this. If playing against a Nurse is impossible to win against every Nurse player, her kill rates would surely be higher. They're not because most people can't play Nurse well, if at all, and the Supaalf's in the game -- much like the survivor with the 300 and 500+ escape streaks I mentioned above -- are the exception, not the rule.

Again, if it helps you to avoid that pesky "reading", here are my positions:

    1) It's a hell of an achievement by one of the best players in the world

    2) It's not something just anyone can do, since Nurse is the hardest killer on the roster to master

    3) Using Supaalf as the barometer for how something should be balanced in the game is foolish, since balancing anything around the top 0.1% of anything is ill-advised.

Again, I'd like to hear what part of those 3 points you disagree with.

ETA: You've also ignored how I'm in agreement that some things -- specifcally Omega Blink Nurse currently in the game -- need to be looked at and addressed. But anything that doesn't fit the clean narrative someone wants to preach can be ignored, I guess.

Exactly. I also think nurse needs to be nerfed. I just reject the logic that Supa's streak is justification for it. He's on another plane.

but that 1 guy wasnt trying to escape he just wanted to do the glyph and she smacked him so the man couldnt finish the glyph but he didnt run he just tried again and she just smacked him again and then hooked her like bro its nothing to be proud of lol (love the mindset tho)

Thanks for this story I guess
