Because back in the old days sabo was much different. Hooks used to break permanently, hooks have been changed many times over the years, and so has sabo for this very reason.
saboing used to be way more difficult to go against. Originally sabboed hooks were gone permanently, so to give the killers somewhere to hook as last resort, basement hooks do not break.

I disagree with that. Honestly it is super rare to get BM'd in an FPS game.
Like I think in thousands of Apex Legends games I got BM'd literally once, maybe twice?
Rust I was barely BM'd. Call of duty I was usually in party chat and there was basically no BM, nobody has time to teabag in those games.
Starcraft 2 I was never BM'd once. BF 2042 I was never BM'd once.
League I would say was the closest in terms of toxicity but even then it was typically your own team raging and not the opponents, which I still consider less toxic than DBD because that happens in your own team chat and is not usually broadcast as BM to the opposing team
DBD is like the only game I can think of where you explicitly can have toooons of time to BM and the lobbies are small enough the opponent can really take it personally. And the BM is like, constant. It's gotta be the most toxic game I can think of
Dude I was a player killer in Ultima Online, the original toxic playstyle that started the PVP genre. The way we played literally made them do the first "nerf" to which the word originated. Words like griefing originated due to our playstyle before it was considered "griefing" we just enjoyed killing other players. IN UO we could kill you and loot you, way before PUBG existed. We also camped corpses hard to where you couldnt even log back in.
I was teabagging people in World of Warcraft with my feral druid like decades ago it seems
DBD is like toxicity lite compared to the old days, in DBD you call someone a word and they think you toxic.

Yeah, let's just overlook the entire point of the post. Way to miss the point.
The point I was clearly making is that 1) Play however you want (literally says that in the post you obviously didn't fully read) and 2) You can play however you want, but don't BM and act like you're amazing at the game while running all meta perks that are winning you games. I didn't say 'you suck if you want to win'.
Maybe.
But something tellls me you created this thread to argue, so by all accounts you did well. Have a nice day man

I’m not sure you read the original post to this but I said when people see who the killer is due to bad rotation, of course it gets boring and some people dc, nothing mid game about it, and nothing about have a rage inducing quit, the sheer fact you put LOL in capitals clearly shows your mental stability here to discuss something so trivial
Now you are moving the goal post because you tried to define something to suit your semantics, and continue to try and label the person who disagrees with you as having mental problems.
It is you without the stability to actually discuss this without personal attacks.
-
Gotta love these threads.

“especially of a video game) to abandon (an undertaking) in a fit of frustration, especially after near success or abrupt failure following a significant investment of time and effort: The level was designed to make grown men rage quit and throw their controllers at the TV.”
So no it’s not, but thanks for trying
You are playing the semantics game.
Quitting mid game due to you being frustrated for whatever reason, is rage quitting.
You are the only person I have ever seen try to debate if DCing is rage quitting or not. LOL
It is. You do not have to throw your controller to rage quit, everyone knows this.

NOTHING is stronger than new Legion.
The moment he logs in to the map, everyone is dead.

If that’s what you call it and think it is I think you may have issues, not everyone gets worked up over a game haha
it's literally rage quitting.
One does not need to throw their controller down or slam their desk to "rage quit"
SImply quitting the match is by definiton rage quitting
-
If you don't get DCs, you ain't playing killer hard enough.
Kill em hard, be ruthless, show no mercy.
-
DBD is entirely based off existing things.
I mean, Billy wwas inspired by Bubba before Bubba was in game.
Trapper,... Jason, and so on and so on....
Legion is literally Scream before Ghostface was in game
-
With Circle of Healing being meta, of course killers are playing Plague and Legion.
ummm duh. Try to keep up bois

If you think a little bit more than just laughing your ass off about something you dont seem to understand, you will realize that the comparison is not bad at all.
If your team is constantly healing against Legion (as an example), you will also get punished by it. Same with the team not splitting up. Sure, it is not hard to realize that splitting up works good against Legion and that healing is not really the best way to do, but if your team decides to do exactly that, you are screwed as well.
Oh give me a break, seeing people compare Legion to Tombstone Myers and Nurse is hilarious.
Plague and Legion the new Tombstone Myers 😍
-
@Phasmamain said:
I don’t really like him because he punishes you pretty heavily for your teammates mistakes similarly to a tombstone Myers for example. Just isn’t a fun experience for solo players tbh
Thats it, I have heard it all.
Earlier this week people actually said "Legion is like nurse now"
And here is "Legion is like similar to Tombstone Myers now"
HAHAHAHAHA
Legion OP bois

If they buffer survivors and then told the killer to stop making mistakes I don’t think it’d sit well, everyone has a good reason to complain and most likely if a lot of people are complaining then there must be an issue.
Ive seen countless survivors dc as soon as they see legion and complain, it gets old very fast but it’s probably due to bad killer rotation as well, constantly facing the same killer gets boring and I imagine most killers want to play as him.
I feel like some of the complaints are valid but it’s hard to tell this early on due to how many people are playing as him, it might just be exaggerated
Can't blame the killers because your teammates DC.
Quitters are the problem not Legion
"I dont like the game so gonna DC"
-
Thana counters their Circle of Healing, therefore it must be changed.
Amazing how they can heal all game with CoH, theiir 1 perk can affect 4 players, but suddenly the perk that counters it, they want immediately nerfed. Of course they do, Legion has thrown off their little healing meta and it is glorious to watch.
-
@Ula said:
Why not doing this for both survivors and killers? Do you really feel the need to adapt your build depending on what items the survivors bring?
The game is and has always been based on allowing the killer to see what items survs have and to choose his build based on that.
Its how the game was designed originally and remains so. The only thing that changed was killer can no longer choose a different killer. We are locked in whatever killer we choose. Survs can click at last second and change to a surv with purple flashlights etc,... givin killer no time to change.

I hear you. When people switch to bring in medkits you can't switch to someone like plague.
to comment further, survivors should be locked in when they click ready too and match should NOT start until everyone clicks ready.
to stop any hostages, you have to click ready BEFORE you enter lobby, once ready you are locked, as killer is.
-
Yes is the short answer, and.... Killers should be able to switch killers, yes.
We were able to until the "we gave each killer MMR" which is the "reason" it was taken away
I would take the old system of learning a new killer in high ranks and being able to switch killers in lobby to this shadownerf

Killer is extremely stressful as you're learning. The learning curve is very steep. There's also the human element of 4 people trying to gang up on a player. It's hard to keep calm and execute when that's happening. Perfectly doable, but arguably unreasonable to expect someone to stay calm and execute 7 or 8 actions/decisions perfectly in succession.
It's easy to say "I have X thousand hrs and it's not hard". I'm certainly guilty of it. But I absolutely remember how stressful it was from 0-2000 hrs, and it's probably ridiculous to expect a player to put in that much time to get over the hump.
this sums it up perfectly.
-
It gets easier, but you gotta play through countless hours of it until you are just numb to it.
I get bored on surv and need the 4 vs 1 rush to kick in to really enjoy the game.
I love facing flashlight swfs and stuff where the match turns into a brawl at the hook until all four are slugged.
Runningh around map playing nice 12 hook games is boring too, let go bros, you guys wanna brawl lets rumble baby
Franklins and Deerstalker are my two fave perks hahaha

they disabled it, why the hell are you still complaining about? "Oooh, you took too long to disable it, you're bad"
omg stop already, move on!
My post was specifically about twitch streamers who show the exploit everytime this happens,... as soon as this was announced they put the offering on each killer/surv they could. As long as they did not log out they could still get the map, and did so showing the exploit over and over.... same as they did back during Asylum Map exploits.
If you intend on trying to troll me, at least understand what I posted about before you make your attempt.

The decision to killswitch something is not an easy one to make as we naturally do not want to remove content from our game.
Attempts were made, by lowering map weighting and removing the offering from play etc. But we ultimately decided that this was still too much of an exploitable situation and removed the map from rotation temporarily.
I can understand that, however, if the decision to disable the offerings was made, it makes sense to disable map entirely if there is a problem.
The map had a known exploit, no one would be mad if it was disabled until fixed.
-
I have no clue why they wait until twitch streamers show it all day making sure everyone possible knows about it, they did this during Asylum Exploits too. All day yesterday streamers were showing the exploit leading to more and more people in matches doing it........ THEN its kill switched LOL
-
If survs do anything like crawl to corners, run flip flop, boil over etc, I just slug em.
If they dont wanna be hooked, so be it.

I think most survivors aren't hoping thousands of killers change their tactics out of a sense of common good for the health of the game. All this mountain of negative feedback about the enjoyment of this playstyle is aimed at the developers in the vain hopes that they will change something in the game to discourage it.
My favored approach would be to increase gen speeds while a killer is within 30 meters of a hook and no other survivors are there.
Devs have done countless things to address it.
Swivel hooks, perks like BBQ were introduced to give killers incentive to leave, hook vicinity penalties etc,... all introduced by devs to discourage camping. It is a tactic and majority of the time is CAUSED by survivor actions.
Match after match, as killer you will find they rush the hook and if you stay there, they call you a camper. Never considering their bad plays are the reason.
Game after game as soon as I hook sonmeone, Ash or Bill is clicking flashlight at hook, and Im not going anywhere until all 4 are slugged
-
The people who act like this have no real power in life. They usually have no responsibility like a family or children to take care of. They have nothing in life other than internet gamer drama.
They feel as if they can "hurt" DBD by making comments like this,... but we all know, no one cares if they play or not, they will sit surrounded by their anime posters, plushies, and continue to play DBD every single day.
-
The problem with these announcement is, as always with these exploits, twitch streamers are showing it everytime they get the Midwich map, guess what that means?
Now, more and more people are doing it, where I never noticed anyone before now you see it, because Big DBD Streamer #1563 stayed up all night making sure tens of thousands of survs were aware of it before its patched.
JUST LIKE ASYLUM exploits of old, and no one gets banned for it
-
@Tiufal said:
Playing hag basically always results in camping cause the moment a trap triggers youre going to teleport back at the hook. Thats exactly the issue players are complaining about for years with hag, but as laways devs ignore any involvement with "killer strategies" no matter how annoying this is.
Do you realize the Game Director himself was a Hag Main?
His response to comments like this has always been: "git gud"
-
Camping is code word for survivors hook swarming.
It goes like this.
- you hook someonoe
- as you are walking away from hook you spot Bill
- Bill decides to start running in circles near hook
- you smack him as Nea comes running behind to get the unhook
- you smack Nea as Ace begins clicking flashlight at you
- you are now camping
- it was their fault
-
It is not countering Legion that they want, they want no more mending. But mend they shall

To be fair, while Mending itself didn’t change, the chance Legion can get multiple hits in a single Frenzy was noticeably improved so they’re getting more Deep Wounds per Frenzy use now.
not really, I have said all along, I used to get more deepwound chain hits with old addons and feral frenzy range addons.
The only thing that changed was some speed between hits, but mending more than then? nah not at all

Survivors have to hold M1 for 5x80 seconds on Gens to actually have a chance to escape.
The Mending time is not instead of holding Gens, it is on top of it.
Not that hard to understand tbh.
Personally I hate going against doctor, sitting holding m1 to get rid of all the madness is boring. Yet I still play the game and you will never see me ask for Doc to be changed, removed, nerfed.... the entire game is holding m1.

Dont use boons or self care and I still find it boring.
I understand that it is your main, but I also always mained Freddy and I could admit he could be boring to go against before.
I dont main anything, I play Bubba more than Legion these days.
Currently p3ing The Twins and playing them mostly.
-
I liked the idea of GF in the game, but I don't play him because I like more aggressive playstyles and refuse to "hide" from survivors and crouch around like that. I like Bubba, im coming after you and revving that chainsaw loud and clear so you hear me
-
often the game is a 1v4 for survivors.
you vs 3 survs and the 1 killer ;)
-
Killers are getting many cheaters, perhaps he encountered speed hack and wanted out
-
"that much time mending"
these same survivors will place 10 boons, hold m1 for 5x80 seconds for gens and dont forget will self care against Legion 22 times during the match. They hold m1 entire game for every other objective or move....
But mending is simply too much

It's not everyone's challenge if they don't select it point being this does encourage toxicity, had someone dc because someone was stealing their glyph point being this isn't good for the game.
Last night I had a David start spamming locker jumps and throw down shack pallet because I cleansed a dull totem that he "thought was his." He wanted to do a boon, I wanted to do tome. It happens.
You can only get the glpyh if you are on the challenge correct?

Decided long ago, no mercy.
Best thing you can do is just play the game comp style, hook them and get on to next match. No mercy, no following Feng to the hatch for feels. Opening exit gate and last one? you going on hook.

Ok aside from this ridiculous reply. Let me ask you, what do you think makes the game fun for the survivors?
Spending more than one second imagining how the other side plays, might make real dialogue possible.
Survivors: "we enjoy chases it is the most fun in the game"
Also survivors: "3 spine chills in one match"
ps, 1000s of hours on both sides
-
Because people who only play one side think the game is all about looping, well,.... it's not. Some killers you have to outplay at mindgames or just be better than they are at loops.
It throws people off from what they expect a normal game to be,... "do gens, get in a chase loop killer, teabag them at exit gate."
Much like Legion is doing right now, Legion plays the 1v4 and it throws them off entirely. Same with Twins
