And I just don't think that's healthy design and should be in the game in the first place (E: and it doesn't really address the main problems with the perk as stated in my original post). Agree to disagree?
It removes the main issue i have with the perk, ie coming behind a survivor and having to wait 4-5 seconds just to bait it out which feels clunky. Though sure, agree to disagree.

I don't see how this refutes anything I said.
If you can just lunge through it point-blank because it has no distance then no one is going to use it, because then it'll just be worse than pretty much every other exhaustion perk against good killers (assuming aim dressing/latency doesn't make it strong by stopping the killer's lunge consistently, at which point we're back to the beginning with killers being afraid to swing). And if it keeps any distance at all then the problem is still there, because a good chunk of survivors don't even let you get that close on a loop before using it for distance, so more likely than not using it for distance will still be the play on most loops.
I mean theoretically there's a way to reach the ideal distance/invulnerability frames that makes it less of a must-have w/o making it a bargain bin perk but I just don't see it happening. The mechanic just has too much room for error & abuse. I feel that it'd be much simpler to go back to the drawing board and design something that doesn't define the flow of the game when it's present.
With range nerf, you can still dh to a pallet, you can still change direction last sec and dh to a wildly different place making it harder to follow you with a lunge and what i said is basically only possible if you are right behind the survivor and then lunge. You can still reaction dh normal attacks and lunges from a bit further away. With a range nerf dh would still be good, it wouls simply not be uncounterable.
I'm not saying no distance btw, just something like 50% range reduction with still the iframes and being able to make it to a pallet.

How is it exactly "easy to counter" when she can force you off gens while also camping the hook? DMS update was a terrible idea when Artist exists.
Its an incredibly easy counter. I'm not going to be sharing it though since i like playing artist from time to time.

How? If it's still good vs top tier killers it's even stronger on all m1 killers. They either make it decent vs m1 so that it becomes useless vs top tiers or they keep the same issue as it is right now
Missing a single attack means way more for blight/nurse/legion than it means for m1 killers thats how. If they nerf dh to have a shorter range or if they nerf it by making you unable to vault/drop pallets as some others suggest, than it wouldnt be that good vs say trapper because they are still on you and youll just get hit in a second. Vs killers that go into exhaustion though, it means they lose sight of you for a second or 2 then have to wait for their power to recharge.

Aint healthy at all but against killers such as blight and nurse is a must because those killers aren't healthy aswell.
Playing as nurse with double range vs no ds or dh at all will be very fun and healthy i guess
DH will still probably good vs killers that go into fatigue after a miss like nurse, blight, legion. Hopefully though it wont be cancer like it is today.
-
Imo what we are about to get is, slower gen speeds, base kit regression, base kit nerfed bt, base kit empathy or whatever that lets other survivors see the aura of a killer around a hooked survivor.
We will also get blight nerf, probably earlier than all of this.
Im also hopeful for base kit nerfed corruption.

The key to making her competitive seems to be BBQ and DMS. I personally prefer Corrupt Intervention and Discordance for the other two perks. Same thinking as yours but I found Pain Resonance doesn’t really provide a much larger effect over the information from discordance.
Pain resonance is there because its pretty good with DMS basically. You dont have to take it but its imo really good on her. But yeah the real stars are BBQ and DMS
-
This only works against people that dont know what you are doing while it works on most maps, it doesnt work well on vertical maps like RPD or pallet town.
PR, DMS, Deadlock, BBQ. Down and hook the first guy you see, look at the survivors auras with bbq and send 3 birds on those gens. Survivors will get off them and they will be locked for 45 seconds. Face camp the guy on hook during those 45 seconds and wait a few seconds more till they hit 2nd stage then make your way over to the closest active gen and start patrolling for a survivor to rinse and repeat. Alternatively you can also just hard tunnel the guy on hook that already hit 2nd stage.
Its easy to counter honestly but works really well against usual pubs. Hell works really well against usual swfs as well.

Rework it entirely.
If the invulnerability stays, you have the same problem of having killers be scared of attacking a survivor because they could press a button that eats their attack, which is bad from a power role/fantasy perspective. If the distance stays, you have the same problem of survivors being able to ignore the normal rules of positioning by dashing forward to a window/pallet with the press of a button whenever they screw up, which is bad from a balance perspective. Sure, you could keep both aspects and add some arbitrary condition for it to be usable, but at that point you have to ask A) would it be enough? and B) would anyone actually run it still? And the likely answer for both is no.
The only way to nerf DH enough to have an impact w/o making it a dead perk (with the current perk roster, anyway, let's talk when they reveal some changes) is to go back to the drawing board and act like its first iteration never existed. I'm confident they can come up with something that suits the name (or just change that too) & theme of David King.
Wrong. Recall using Coup de Grace before they nerfed it and how even after they dead hard perfectly, you would follow them and still hit?
With the distance nerfed if you are close enough you can just lunge and it will connect unless they deadharded in a wildly unpredictable direction. It would still dodge the normal attack and lunges from afar.
-
Cut the distance in half. GG wp

Surely they could just adjust Nurse fatigue to compensate rather than limiting it for every other killer?
It does make little sense that full on competitive games like Apex with separate ranked modes/leagues as well as crossgen/crossplay between formats where certain formats can choose a higher FoV than others yet they still have it as a basic option while still functioning as a competitive game.
You mention voice chat not being in the game because it offers an advantage yet the devs have said it’s fine to use 3rd party chat and anytime someone talks about balancing the game around SWF by giving them a downside to being able to gain an advantage without using a perk slot, people say DbD isn’t a competitive game and just for fun with friends.
If it’s just a fun game to play with friends then an FoV slider shouldn’t be an issue; if it is a competitive game where in game FoV options ‘break competitive integrity’ then people using voice chat, visual filters, modifying game files for better FPS etc should also be stopped or punished.
Sure you can’t prove everyone is using some of these things but everyone streaming using voice chat or filters would have to stop less it be used as evidence, and modifying game files is simple to stop as they keep accidentally doing it and ‘fix’ it quickly when the forum is flooded with anti aliasing complaints.
Some consistency would be nice.
Last i checked Apex wasnt a game of tag ...
People saying dbd isnt competitive are out of their minds.
-
Yeah lots of people dcing today, specially the first guy on hook or first down. Its kinda pathetic but what can you do

You fool the real explanation is that BBQ tier 3 can smell your fear.

I play a lot of late night dbd, and pretty much every game has noed to the point where I'm actually surprised when they don't have noed.
Maybe its a regional thing and people in your region just like it more for some reason but try actually noting down the number of noeds in your next 10 games. I would be surprised if you got 5 in 10.

Oh I didn't mean for it to sound like I was assuming what perks you run. I just meant it as a general sweeping statement. A good 85% of my matches are against killers running full slowdown builds with the exception of BBQ or NOED.
Noed is used in less than 1 in 4 games in all mmrs. Just saying

Still when Sadako is (hopefully) buffed in the future. I don't like the idea that she can force a condemn in 1 chase.
She cant if you loop her around tvs she already teleported to, this only works if you keep running to new places. This only works when survivors dont know what you are doing and how to counter it. Way too many ifs for this to be anything but a fun little trolling.

It's 1 mori per t3 so I was able to hit t3 three times and kill a person each time but I was like 99.9 on the last guy and had to hook him :(
They only got 2-3k points by the time you hit tier 3 three times? Wow thats ... impressive lol

No. she got all bars of condemn mid chase par 1.
Oh, i sometimes do that as well. Its basically a troll. Go into a match with no intention to hook or down somebody and just chase 1 guy across all map trying to get them fully condemned and then morry them. Its fun but basically just a harmless troll.
Didnt mean to sound mean btw but i've seen way too many people completely ignore the condemn and dont even have any idea how to interact with it and then cry about how unfair it is, like my dude you can even get hit and finish returning the tape in her face, its an absolute joke of a slowdown unless you are trolling and only going for condemns.
-
The thing about the game is it CAN absolutely be fast as ######### to the point game is already over by the time you get 2 hooks. But most survivors arent like that and most games arent like that. I feel like with some gen regression perks, game is managable. And hopefully with the base game changes, there wont even be a need for gen regression perks and we can actually bring fun stuff. (A naive hope, i know)

I just looped a Sadako for EVER.
Just to get condemned mid chase. where there is nothing you can do about it.
it feels horrible that even if you looped her for ur whole team to do gens. just to get insta mori without any hooks.
While I don't think this needs to be changed.
I just don't like the idea of a power that can kill you for doing ur job correctly
Edit: This was on RPD. 5 gens still up one person dead. my other team on death-hook, i had no hooks and gens only started to get done when i took chase
What i hear from that is i didnt keep an eye on my condemnation, let it sit high all game and thought i could get away with cleansing it after getting fully condemned.
You do understand that you dont have to cleanse it only once you are fully condemned right?
-
You got a 3 man down with your first tier 3? Hate when it happens when im playing Myers

Honestly I would prefer every killer that I play be like Sadako than Artist. She's weak, and desperately needs buffs, but she's fun and that's better than a strong killer that's boring to play.
Obviously fun is subjective, and people will find Artist fun I have no doubts, but balance can always be fixed later. The bit that's important imho is nailing the fun aspect of a killer, and Sadako does that flawlessly.
'balance can always be fixed later' not really killers like trapper or clown will always be bottom tier.

I want it so bad, I can taste it. 😋
All kidding aside, gotta say I’m surprised in the responses here. I thought killer mains would’ve been on board. So many threads on people complaining about vs. SWF then they turn around and say “no don’t take em out. The game will die.” Ok. Then stop complaining. The game would drop in numbers at first yes, but it would bounce back. People forget DBD launched without SWF & it was a hit. There’s still Kill with Friends Mode. They would just no longer be in public matches. BHVR could even give that mode a set of toggles to spice it up.
I don’t think buffing solo Que improves the game- even with the supposed balances that are to follow after that.
Sorry you found out that killer mains are reasonable and not absolute idiots.
-
Oh yeah we have all been at that point one time. The answer is play as dirty as you can.
First question is, are you outmatched by just 1 or 2 player or are they all equally good? If its just 1 or 2, leave them and try finding the easiest survivor in the group. If you find one thats easier than the rest, down them. Then tunnel them out if you can. If they get overly altruistic when you start tunneling, take advantage of it with freebie injures but dont stop tunneling.
If all the survivors are pretty good, you gotta sniff out an opportunity. Read the game state and know your options accordingly. Is there 1 gen left with 1 or 2 hooks out of 12? There is no way you are winning normally. So stop trying to win normally.
Are those 2 hooks on the same person? Tunnel them.
Its not? Thats ok. Are they all injured at some point? Good opportunity to slug them all. Keep in mind where you downed them in case of unbreakable. Less risk of a reset since no bt and nobody runs soulguard.
Everybody healthy and nobody close to being sacrificed? Prioritize focusing some one you already hooked if possible, then camp them and hope team gets altruistic. Know how to hook trade and how to win the grab game, if they make a mistake and give you a free down without managing to unhook leave the 2nd person slugged on the ground. If they coordinate the rescue well, try to go for a hook trade.
At this point though i have to make something clear. If you keep finding yourself in the last position and you have NO:ED equipped, know that its probably the reason you keep finding yourself in that situation and consider unequipping it and focus on getting better at chases and downs.
Its fine to play dirty and using NOED is fine as well but if you are overly relying on that one perk you will probably hate the game because game will feel impossible without it.
TLDR, snowball and bank on survivors altruism.
-
Honestly i had the opposite problem last few games.
Kept destroying people at 4-5 gens and had to pick them up so i actually get some bp.
I think sweating too much is kinda pointless during blood hunt unless survivors are on the same wavelength
-
No, i dont want the game to die. Dunno why you want it so badly

And just like with climate change and plastic waste pollution, everybody has to make the first step and be the change for it to happen.
And yes, i know that i am preaching idealistic principles i am not 100% following myself but toxicity in a video game is a trivial change compared to real life problems.

So you want to tell me your average killer player can have consistent wins with trapper against an equal good team of survivors let alone swf. Even if he enters the higher mmr ranks?
And I talk about having good games and wins and not a win from time to time and between them just a slog of unwinnable games. And I really mean the average play not people that make a living out of the game or something like that.
I really don't want to hop on some survivor hate train but most killer feel like they can't win when you reach a certain point
Dude is a notorious terminally online survivor main.
Expect the worst takes and just laugh at them.

I don't see why they would do that. The game doesn't need that kind of change.
They probably wont. But the 'base game changes due to why meta perks are meta' is running my imagination wild.
Honestly best i can hope for is base kit nerfed corrupt and base kit regression coupled with base kit nerfed bt with base game ping system to communicate simple messages.
What i really want is a complete rework of the 3 hook system but thats never coming lol

Are we talking about the same hangmans trick? If it would be the old version yes but I dont know what you mean with "it adds nothing". Not saying its top tier meta carry perk but it is by far not a meme perk. Just as BBQ it gives you a ton of information after a down, it gives almost more information as BBQ cuz it has no "range" in that sense. However information perks are indeed less better then they used to be, but calling it a meme perk is an exaggeration.
I would like to see a rework to monstrouse shrine finally, this perk is indeed useless. It needs a whole new rework, I personally cant think of an good "basement" perk.
Also next to dead hard unbreakable is the ONLY meta perk that needs definatly a nerf. It is way too far of a game changer without any build up or requirement. (Just dont slug isnt an argument so you can save that for yourself) UB should need some kind of way where you can "earn" it so then you can pick yourself up, I would suggest after you completed 1 heal action, either yourself or to others, isnt too hard but also requires you to play in a certain way without beeing too carefree.
Not to be a dick but it really does seem like a worse bbq.

For the Coup de Grace one.. maybe leave it as one per generator complete, but only take away a token if the hit is succesful.
I did the Coup de Grace challenge earlier today or yesterday (can't remember, I did lots of challenges these past few days) and I forgot I even had the perk equipped since, you know, you just need to have it equipped and lunge at survivors.. I did get a down using it on purpose at one point though, survivor ran around a corner and he was sorta too far for a regular lunge.. but I had a stack and went for it, and it was enough for me to reach and down him. It's a pretty good perk if you use it properly, catches survivors by surprise since they don't expect it.
Its a good perk but maximum 5 times per game is insanely bad. Its basically a meme perk atm

As for survivors, Visionary. Just like why? Why even have a cooldown for it too. I rather have them just completely rework this perk because it's not like it's a beginner friendly perk because it's a DLC perk and it's not even that good.

Base kit unbreakable is just nuts buddy, what are you smoking?
-
Yeah thats fair. Some killers are so strong that just at their skill floor, game shifts in your favour. A decent nurse with 100 hours will probably get better results than a trapper main with 2k. Its just kinda sad that there are like 7-8 killers that you can pick that actually works vs decent players.
Whats funnier to me is that there is a decent number of people tormenting themselves with those killers on the regular.
Or maybe im just too much of an anti loop slave to understand the beauty of the m1.
-
This is my attempt at a joke rather than me actually being mad about the perk.
Dont take it too seriously, love you all <3
-
You can nerf it like this,
Self Care: You always pick yourself up when you fall down.
Whenever you are healing yourself you are immune to aura readings. Leave no scratch marks 1/2/3 seconds after stopping healing.
First time you search a chest you will get a basic med kit.
Is it better, probably not. Is it worth taking? Dunno.
