NOED is an awful perk. You may get one hook if you are lucky, before the Hex is cleansed.

What's the counter to tunneling?
(assuming the person being tunneled can't loop for 5 gens)

Looping is fun, and you are always able to catch them. It is your task to mindgame and adapt your playstyle depending on the map and available tiles.
I play both sides, btw.

Tunneling doesn't exist. In every other game it's just called focusing down a target. Don't take dying in a game personally, I'm not hooking you repeatedly because I dislike you, I don't know you, I'm just trying to get the odds in my favor as quickly as possible, because, like you, I want to win games.
Exactly this! Getting someone out of the game, for the killer, is the most efficient way for them to have a chance. With gen speeds how they are.
You want the killer to "play fair". Maybe survivors should stop gens half way through, then go stand in a corner for 30 seconds to make it fair for the killer!

So first of I have been playing this game for a loooooooong time and its growing really boring and stale with me just wanting to quit the game all together due to mmr and hackers, so i decided to think about something that would get me back into the game, a killer i have been wanting since day 1 and two survivors i would love to play.So here we go.
Alien/Aliens DLC with Ellen and Amanda Ripley as survivors, the xenomorph as the killer and a indoor spaceship map, which would either be the Nostromo or Sevastapol from Alien Isolation, Nostromo would be a fan fav but will be a two level indoor map thats quite small, while Sevastapol would be a much larger still indoor map with multiple levels.
Xenomorph movement speed 110% with a 32m terror radius, a normal attack and a normal lunge, the Xenomorph is a tall killer.
Xenomorph Ablitys.
- Eggs, the match will start with 6 Xenomorph eggs placed around the map all within 2meters of a wall, whenever a surivior is within 5meters of an egg you recive killer instinct, survivors can "examine" an egg which grants 10% progress on the nearest generator (searching has a cool down of 60 seconds) during this search there will be 2 skill checks failing either of those skill checks will result in the survivor becoming exposed for 6 seconds.
- Cocoon, rather than hooking the Xenomorph can carry survivors to the nearest wall and "Cocoon" them, freeing a survivor from a cocoon takes 5 seconds, once a survior has been cocooned for a total of 60 seconds (resucing pauses this timer) they can be cocooned within 2meters of an egg after 10 seconds of this they killed.(being cocooned will still trigger ds/bt... etc)
- Crouch, the Xenomorph can crouch removing his red stain and increasing movement speed to 120% however hitting survivor while crouced only inflicts mending not an actual health state.
Xenomorph perks.
Prefect Organism; Every 90 seconds you see the auras of every survivor for 10 seconds however the survivors see you aura if you are within 12 meters of them.
Evolution; Start the game with 0 tokens, each time a generator is complete gain a token, at 1 token you take 50% longer to recover from stuns, but vault 100% faster and your movement speed is increased to 125%. At 2-3 tokens your terror radius is reduced by 50% and your red stain is removed however your movement speed is reduced to 100%, at 4 tokens you lose your terror radius and red stain but your movement is reduced to 90%, 5 tokens you keep the effects of 4 tokens however you gain the ablity to kill 1 survivor by your hand, as well as gaining 4 seconds of killer instinct whenever a survivor interacts with a exit gate.
Watch the Shadows; After standing still for 4 seconds you lose your red stain, and your terror radius increases by 100%, after moving again this effects presists for 6 seconds, you also gain a 10% movement speed increase for those 6 seconds.
Amanda Ripley Perks
- I will find her; Whenever another surivor has been unhooked/uncooned/uncaged etc, you see there aura for 10 seconds, if you take a protection hit for them during this time they are fully healed.
- Engineer; Your failed skill checks no longer make a loud noise notification.
- Smoke bomb; After working at a Generator for 60% gain the ablity to craft a smoke bomb in a locker, smoke bombs are placed on the ground and have a 5 second delay before activating, all survivors within 12 meters of a smoke bomb have there aura hidden for the duration of the smokebomb and do not leave scratch marks, Smoke bombs last for 16 seconds.
Ellen Ripley Perks.
- Get away from her; Whenever another survivor is hooked more than 25meters away from you, your aura is revelled to the killer and the killers aura to you, you also become exposed for as long as that survivor is on the hook, you gain a 100% increase in blood points for all actions taken during this time and the unhooking speed of all survivors is increased by 100%.
- Auto destruct; If you are grabbed off a generator, or put into the dying state within 6meters of a generator that is over 60% complete, Auto destruct actives stuning the killer for 10 seconds and giving you a 20% movement speed increase for 5 seconds, this also reduces the gen to 0 progress.
- Motion Tracker; When working on a generator get a noise notification when the killer is 16m, 12m, 8m, 4meters away from you, each stage (16/12/8/4) increases gen repair speed by 3% (to a toal of 12%)
Please no.
Seeing a xenomorph getting stopped in its tracks by a wooden pallet or a flashlight followed by getting teabagged, would be too much to take.

@SensualShamus said:
It's a fun perk, but I think one or more of these suggested changes could make it more viable.
1. Cooldown initiates after the hook has been fully sabotaged - choosing the right hook is often a guessing game and this would allow the player to cancel the action and switch hook if the killer changes direction.
2. Hook visibility - Perhaps allow the survivor see hooks when a player is downed, instead of after they are picked up. This would give the player more time to plan the sabotage.
3. Cooldown length - A change to the cooldown length to match the hook respawn would negate the ability for the killer to just drop the survivor and then use the same hook after it respawns.
What do you think? Any ideas, or are people content with how the perk as is?
Peace.
For the love of all things..... no no and no.

Awwww, did I hit a nerve?
Allow me to address your points, will ya?
Strong Loops are Survivor's defenses against Killer's. It is unreasonable to expect maps to have nothing but weak loops or deadzones. It would be incredibly boring for both sides if that was the case.
DH is not okay, and I don't recall saying otherwise.
Gen Speeds are fine. Making gens take longer at base is not a good idea.
Michael is actually stronger than most people give him credit for. And besides, not every killer has to have mobility.
Last but not least, I don't have to agree with you, and that doesn't automatically makes me someone who wants a, I quote, "frustrating survivor sided game". We all have our views, mate.
If you genuinely believe gen speeds are fine.... care to buy some of these magic beans ππππ

rarely change any survivor perks in a stale meta,
Somehow make holding W meta,
don't fix window and pallet vaults,
making basic functions not work (spamming space bar 5 times and nothing happening),
slowing down generator speeds,
you lose players.
Which is why none of this has happened.

"Who is going to crouch midchase?"
Literally anyone at a pallet or window. They do it to my Nemesis all the time.
"A momentary speed boost does not mean anything".
It means everything. If I slap you with a mere contamination hit, you are guaranteed a tile. Even from a dead zone.
"All killers are faster than survivors"
You didn't understand that I said. I mean the Tier 3. When Nemesis pulls his tentacle out, his speed drops DRAMATICALLY. As in, slower than a Survivor dramatically. If we are 10 meters apart, I need 5 meters to hit you. You are now GAINING distance on me. What tier 3 mutation does is increase his TENTACLE CARRYING SPEED to be the same as a survivor. So if you are 4m ahead of me and I pull the tentacle we are now matching speed instead of you gaining distance. That is the point of getting to tier 3.
"Nemesis has map wide pressure no one else has anything close to."
Absolutely mega false. He has two idiots that run into trees and rocks. That is not mapwide. You know who does have map wide pressure? Pinhead and his chain hunts. That affects the whole map and every survivor at once.

I was doing some Pyramid head games and running a very basic build with brown addons to just kinda chill. First match went as well as you'd think, 4 gens in 2 minutes with 1 kill. Second game I turned off crossplay because the Kate in the previous match was moving extremely SUS the whole match. I got a match of 4 Kate's, with an Ormond offering, all the meta perks of dh, bt, ds, and iron will, and two brand new parts. I killed one, got another at the exit gate, picked them up but let them wiggle off to escape, so they knew I caught them but that I was being nice. And the dude had the audacity to message me afterwards and said, " ######### bad killer, enjoy your 1k bi***."Β
So I was like, screw it. Y'all wanna play sweaty I'll play sweaty. Slapped on my main Doctor, with my absolute best add-ons and perks and queued up. And wouldn't you know it, I got the same exact group of Kate's with 2 brand new parts again. They all died, horribly, after having only done two gens.
Moral of the story, don't be an egotistical dick. Because you never know if they're just taking it easy on you. Did you really survive? Or did they allow you to live.
Nicely done π

-
Solo q is not a problem. With all the easy loops and second chance perks, you don't need swf to run rings around the killer.
-
@NOEDENJOYER said:
How are you supposed to play killer and enjoy it? Every single game you're faced with a healing boon, four DH's and back to back safe pallets on large maps that make downing survivors an actual chore and miserable task.
You managed to injure a survivor, but make the wise choice to leave them because they're at a strong structure, or to defend a specific generator? Well, don't worry, for all your efforts that injured survivor will become healthy in less than 30 seconds, even though it probably took you that exact time to injure them. And the best part is, there's nothing you can do. Want to go break the boon? Enjoy sacrificing precious generator pressure to remove the boon for a mere 30 seconds before it's inevitably replaced and you've gained nothing as a result.
Did you manage to outplay a survivor? Well don't worry, they'll simply press E to the safe pallet and reset the entire chase. Don't forget that on any large map, you'll face survivors who will hold W for a solid minute before you can even think about getting past their DH and the countless safe pallets they have back to back.
Are you struggling to apply pressure because the survivors have an infinite pool of healing via the boon and their second chance perks? Well, suck it up, because that's fair. But don't even think about tunnelling, or camping, because you're scum if you do that.
Playing killer is so fundamentally unfun against these two perks. COH promotes a tunnelling, camping & nasty playstyle since you can no longer use hit & run tactics. DH makes every chase twice as longer as it should do because it practically grants a survivor with a third health state.
I've been a killer main since 2019, and I can firmly say the existence of COH & DH has tanked any enjoyment I have for the killer role. I've been playing survivor and been having a blast at how easy it is, even in solo queue.
Anyone else feel the same way?
100% this. Every new update and chapter just destroys the killer role that little bit more.
-
Mediocre at best. Time to countdown to the next killer after then.
-
This new Boon is another kick in the teeth for killers. Haste effect. What a complete and total joke.

I would walk this statement back a bit. Apparently WART, who I was playing, is seen as the weakest of all killers in that game. My opinion has moved slightly, albeit I stand by the sound and tracking being worse than DBD by far, I'd also say it may be mostly intentional to the design.
I hope there are some ways they can make it a bit more decipherable, such as the "blood" in the game being more visible (although again, I can understand why they don't want tracking of injured survivors to necessarily be a given, as it can be in DBD).
With more time with the games unique sound design choices, I may still may come to fully be won over by VHS. I hear criticism and praise in somewhat equal measure, so it may have a significant chance going forward, and even DBD had a very rough early phase, look where it's at now
Cool. Was interesting to read your feedback, thanks.
-
Circle of Healing broke this game and confirmed objectively 100% the survivor bias the devs have.

I mostly use dbd's steam forum and most people there think the game is survivor sided. Looks like this forum isnt so different than steam forum because i have seen many people here who think dbd is survivor sided as well. I just want to know why so many people here think killers are weak. Because i think its literally the best time to play killer. Killers have way stronger things than survivors do. I think the only good thing thats left for survivors is SWF. Killer Meta (especially DMS + Pain Resonance) is stronger, maps are weak for survivors , hex totems are stronger than boon totems (I know boon totems can be reblessed but killers can destroy it instantly so reblessing is just a waste of time).. I looked at kill rate stats and its above average, so it proves that killers are stronger than survivors. I think those who think survivors are stronger clearly havent played survivor enough. Soloq is a mess, its a horrible experience.. my mmr goes down because of my teammates mistakes and its not fair. Looping the killer nowadays is too hard as well due to the anti loop killers they have recently released. So, what makes you think DbD is survivor sided?
Oh dear oh dear

@Laurie268 said:
Why do you keep mentioning decisive strike and borrowed time? The only time they work is if the killer starts tunneling. If you donβt tunnel survivors lose 2 perks. Also nemesis is pretty bad against good survivors. If you want 4ks consistently master blight, nurse or oni.

I just got done finally playing VHS as killer for a few matches after waiting months to get access to the beta....
Let me tell you, as bad as the feeling of killer can be in this game, it is nothing next to the outright uselessness of playing killer in that game. Just try tracking a survivor in that game - there's no scratch marks, the sound design is just ass, an injured survivor barely gives more indication than a non-injured on where they are, and there's basically no way of knowing which station they're building on unless they miss a skill check, so you have to guess.
Made me realize I really took this game for granted. There isn't a single game like DBD that is nearly as well though our, even when the devs are very ignorant to some things overall.
I've been hearing a lot about how VHS is the next big thing. Interesting to read your comments.
Is that a widely held opinion about that game. And are survivors generally as unpleasant as those in this game?

Than 1 year ago? This puts us roughly Feb 2021- a year on from the dreaded ruin change, with toolboxes having mercifully been gone afterwards but good lord did they overstay their welcome.
I'm not sure- it's entirely perk + killer dependent. If you're a Ruin, Undying, Pain Resonance, Tinkerer Blight w/ Alchemist's Ring + Blighted Crow/Adrenaline Vial, I'd say it's definitely easier than a year ago now that Boil Over has been taken away and COH has received a minor slap on the wrist (though it definitely needs further nerfs, that's for sure). If you're a Sloppy Butcher, Pop Goes The Weasel, Corrupt Intervention, Save The Best For Last Wraith, however, it would absolutely be harder because COH showed up to give you the finger.
Nurse definitely got easier, since you no longer have to fight the game and the survivors. Spirit, though, got harder thanks to her nerfs. It all depends on that front.
So, if we take a perkless team of Survivors and a perkless- what's a good baseline killer, Freddy I guess? Perkless Survivors vs Perkless Freddy, I'd say harder overall slightly, because:
- Validation has helped eliminate advantages gained through high ping/accidental lag spikes
- Grabs still refuse to function
- RPD, as a map, exists (sadly The Game update had already happened at this point)
- The Australian W-Key Meta has finally found it's foothold in NA/EU servers too, sadly
- Survivors, overall, have just gotten better
TL;DR it's very perk + killer dependent on if it's easier/harder but if we take 4x perkless survivors vs 1x perkless average killer (freddy, imo) then it's probably harder because w-key meta, validation, overall improvements to survivors, and RPD.
Fair points and an enjoyable read. I would agree on the point with ruin / Undying, but you're lucky if both hexes last more than a couple of minutes and 1 down/hook.
Then you're back in trouble with just 2 perks. And given how easy it is to loop and avoid the killer, it just at best delays the inevitable.
On Nurse and Blight. Maybe I need to practice more with those. I find their powers so hard to make useful, and ever game I've been I'm Instantly put in with God level red ranks. But maybe they are the only viable killer and I need to practice with them more.
So, not sure we agree with each other, but good discussion, thanks.

Well I know there are a ton of pallets now. More than there have ever been since I've been playing the game.
Respectfully- when did you begin playing the game? Because the proof is in the patch notes, and my own experience (as well as the experience of many others that have been playing since 2016/2017), that pallet counts have been reduced overall.
And again- you're the one that couldn't be bothered to read when you explicitly asked for proof- if you cannot even do that, then there is no point continuing to debate.
May I ask you a question? Feel free not to answer. I just ask you not be rude again.
Would you say the killer experience is harder / worse now, than say 1 year ago? Curious to known your thoughts. I have no idea how much you play on either side.
