Correct, these newest changes are going straight to live.
Pain Res will have the same 4-token system that it had on the PTB, but the regression will be 15/20/25% instead of 11/13/15%.
Thanks for confirming. Sorry I was probably asking a really obvious question 😀
-
Sorry if this is a silly question, but the changes that are being made from what was on the PTB, they haven't been tested on the PTB, right?
-
Without killers, who would survivors have to endlessly taunt, loop, vault and teabag at the exit gates 😀
-
The amount I,am seeing of survivor mains trying to convince killer players this is still a decent perk is unreal.
If it truly was a buff, you would not see so many survivor players trying to convince you otherwise for one.
Let's just, and at least be honest & respectful with each other
-
Ultimately the gen rush meta completely ruins this game for killers. If you want to stop it, something needs to be done about chases too.
Any half decent survivor can loop, vault and stun a killer for 2 gens easy. Next chase, 2 more gens. Do the maths.

...just take a break. Killer side or Survivor side, take a break instead of loading into a match and become insane.
I just found the game to be not so fun and I took a break since the Skull Merchant came out. I don't play every single day anymore, I just hop in from time to time and log off and play something else.
I've seen in the past months a lot of DCs from both sides, not happy of the state of the game. Think about it, why would you keep playing something you don't like?
If you truly love the game, you need to take a break <3
I took a break for a few months and glad I did. I'm now learning a new killer, which has been tough but fun.
-
I'm a killer main who is disappointed about todays announcement.
However I'm staying and enjoying learning The Mastermind. Anyone have any tips :)

Its mostly 50/50 at the top level, which is shown pretty well in tournaments
'Oh but that doesnt count since there are so many restrictions!!'
there was a tournament held roughly a year and a half ago where there was 0 restrictions and the only thing that was pre determined was the map. The average killrate was 2.16 and one of the many games that was a 4k was actually from Artist who was the most recent killer at the time.
This game aint perfectly balanced, but its still a lot closer than most people think
I cannot agree for one second that the game is perfectly balanced, especially at higher levels. But clearly our opinions are different and that's ok.

We really arent considering just how bad matchmaking is. Most killers I dont even have a single gen regression perk and go against several thousand hour Survivors very consistently and still do very well. Most games I lose I make LOTS of mistakes, such as missing shots, making bad calls, commiting too long to a chase, etc.
Now when it comes to going against a full team with the same amount of hours as I do, its MUCH harder to pull that off but still very much possible. (5.5k hours if you're curious)
In my experience and what I've seen, when survivors and killers are at similar levels, it's mostly a survior win. Hence why balancing is so poor at the higher levels.
Gen speeds are still really quick, and chases are not incentivised due to strong loops, pallets etc.

Idealy gen defense wouldnt be the strongest perks out there since they wouldnt be as necessary on some killers
Would allow for much more creativity in builds
Ideally killers wouldn't "need" so much gen defence but that is where we are.
-
Two points
A) Pain Res is in no way a buff. 4 hooks, on 4 different survivors all on a scourge hook early game... come on people, let's be real. In terms of practical usage it's a nerf from current state
B) I don't think there was a real worry that the healing proposal would make gen rush worse. Its already awful, but most killers would be ok being gen rushed by 4 injured survivors than 4 healthy ones :).
You can agree or disagree on whether the changes are good or not. But let's all be honest at least.
From a killer main perspective I'm happy with the DH changes and am thankful for that, despite what I think of anything else.

Some of the most problematic and most widely used survivor perks got significantly nerfed.
CoH no longer gives (unlimited) self heals, and DH is no longer useable every single chase. Plus medkits, which every survivor can have, were nerfed.
Meanwhile three specific problematic killer perks were nerfed, which aren't even the only viable regression perks. Jolt, Corrupt, Deadlock, DMS all still exist as is and are great slowdown.
PR is no longer the "win more when you already win" perk and tunnellers best friend, instead it actively encourages not tunneling, and is still an effective slowdown perk.
Thanks for putting it like that. Made sense.
I do disagree on your assessment of the other regression perks, and I don't see how the changes addess the gen rush meta, but that's ok.

Some of the killer nerfs were reverted as well, and they didnt completely revert the healing changes. The way they did it I think was actually really smart, making altruistic healing unchanged but nerfing self healing.
DH also got nerfed even further by only activating upon being unhooked
Thanks for clarifying. Yeah, my main worry is the overall nerf to gen defence. The one area that needs a buff id say. But let's see how the game plays once it goes live.

Healing nerfs are a literal killer buff
Sorry what I meant was the nerfs to gen defence now outweigh the nerfs to survivors, so this update hits killers worse than survivors I fear.
Especially given the current balance.
-
Have I understood this correctly? Healing nerfs (or some of them) reversed, but killer nerfs stay?
So overall killers will still be worse off again after the update. Please tell me the DH nerf stays!
-
It isn't. But we have to nerf that gen defence eh.
-
@I_am_Negan said:
What you describing is just being chased.
Tunneling is downing and hooking someone, camping or returning to the hook when they get unhooked nothing else matters just tunnel that one player down to place them back on the hook again.
But we all have our own opinions on what tunneling is.
I agree with this. But unfortunately in my experience most survivors have a much broader view of the definition of tunneling
-
Its a consequence of how much survivor is easy mode and unbalanced.
-
I tend to agree, except we all know the devs will cave to the pressure and reverse most, if not all of the healing changes (while still gutting gen defence).
-
Unfortunately, because the game becomes more and more survivor sided the "higher up" you go, most killer players will eventually get to a point where getting someone out the game as soon as possible is not only the best way to win, but sometimes the only way to win.
Since the word tunneling is used rather loosely by survivors, this tactic will often be interpreted as such.
You want to stop "tunneling"? We need the carrot not the stick.
-
Shhhh or they'll nerf it again. Killer players aren't allowed to have nice things:)
Seriously though, glad your finding use of it. I've found it less than useless since the changes, so might give your load out a try if that's cool.
-
It won't. Killer nerfs will remain, but the healing nerfs will be reversed don't worry.

Easier to play and less stressful does not equate to being stronger.
From my own personal experience, the game is pretty heavily Killer-sided. Most players are completely unequipped to deal with what Killers can bring to the table. I think I'm averaging around an 85% Kill Rate.
For a less personal experience, look at the overall Kill Rates. The last stats we got showed that the Survival Rate was 39%. How could the game, itself, be overall Survivor-sided if Killers are doing so well overall?
I do think that at the very highest level, the game is still Survivor-sided. However, I'm extremely confident in saying that for new, casual and average players, the game is very much Killer-sided.
When I said easier to play I meant easier to win.
I see your point as regards to the higher levels.

Why do you feel that way?
Fair question. I play both sides and find survivor so much easier and less stressful. To summarise. The amount of pallets, loops, and windows, alongside gen speed, healing in its current state, and perk choice, to me, means it isn't hard to play survivor well.
And the points above are conversely why killer is more difficult.

Slightly Survivor-sided, moderately Survivor-sided or very Survivor-sided
With these proposed changes. Hard to say without seeing it myself, but I'd say around moderately survivor sided, and today I'd say the game is between moderately and very survivor sided. Again, my experience and opinion. Be kind 😀

You are playing a pvp game where your opponent's primary goal is removing you from the game. Sometimes you'll have games you don't find very fun, because the killer's goal and your goal are opposites.
Sorry quoted you in the wrong reply. You make a good point here that is what I was trying to say, but you put it much better than I.

I'm agreeing with you. Purposely ruining someone's fun is not on. For any reason.
What I was trying to say is that people often assume the way a killer is playing is them trying to do just that. When they are not.
Both sides regularly play in a way that compromises the other sides fun. It's unfortunate but probably a consequence of this type of game.
I guess I'm never one to tell people how to play. Other than to be respectful of each other.

Tunnelling is a major problem that ruins the fun for survivors and often leads to one-sided matches. It's unfair and unsportsmanlike behavior that should not be tolerated.
I should add. If someone goes out of their way to make someone else's game miserable that's bad form and I don't condone that. But you also have to respect that both sides can never both get what they want. And fun is subjective. I've seen plenty to say that survivors primary goal is their own fun, and same for killers. So there is an inherent dissonance in calling out gameplay strategy that happens to have a side consequence of not being fun for the other players.

Tunnelling is a issue though as stated above it isn't fun to face being the one tunneled out the game and it happens every match because it is easy and made easier now.
It's especially not fun knowing you'll get three free gens knowing the killer will ignore everyone until the tunneled one is out
You have to ask the question, why do killlers seek to get one player out the game as soon as possible? Added to the fact that people tend to use the word tunnelling for any situation where the killer doesn't go out his way to totally ignore someone they may have already hooked.

People pay and play this game for years and what do i feel like i got? Recycled, Recycle, Recycle.
When are they gonna implement changes that the players who pay and play actually would enjoy?
New Trials? More Maps? Different Objectives. More Perks.
I'm starting to think it's gonna be milked till it's done and then the devs will move on. They give us little top no information and act baffled on live streams when questions about new game modes and content get asked. It's been years can we finally get a useful voting pole for starts?
FB post by them on the community votes, (No really you asked for it) NO we did not, you just gave us 3 only options. I think it's because they know already what the community wants to improve the game, the silence i don't get
Out of curiosity, if you could instantly implement any 3 changes to the game, what would you do?

You just can't ignore the 3 huge nerfs to healing and the nerf of the most used survivor exhaustion perk to fit your narrative.
Not every map has a lot of pallets.
Not every surv plays full genrush and if they do, they are risking themselves to be tunneled/camped more efficiently.
Now, i am not saying gen speeds do not need to be addressed but let's not pretend that survivors are not going to get a massive hit this patch especially soloQ not just "a small step".
I'm not ignoring them. I'm saying that taking all the changes into account, the game is still survivor sided. Just maybe slightly less so than before, but thats not a bad thing. As I said, the healing nerfs are a step in the right direction though.

"I don't think the current changes will make it any worse (or better)" is an oversimplification of the issue. The changes could potentially make tunneling worse if they encourage killers to go for quick hooks rather than trying to spread pressure across multiple survivors. Additionally, "Getting someone on 3 hooks quickly is the easiest way to win" ignores the fact that tunneled survivors often have less fun and may be less likely to play again, ultimately harming the longevity of the game.
Only if you think tunnelling is an issue I suppose.
-
"If" tunneling exists, and then only its most extreme form, I don't think the current changes will make it any worse (or better). Gen speeds mean people want some semblance of a win. Getting someone on 3 hooks quickly is the easiest way to do so.

All this change does is encourage gen rushing because healing takes too much time to bother with
At most people will heal at hook with we’ll make it but otherwise nobody will bother
Get ready for more toolboxes and PT’s
At least now you won't be gen rushed by fully healed survivors constantly :). So this is good news.
-
Gen speeds and pallets aren't being touched and gen defence is being nerfed. So the game remains survivor sided, but a small step in the right direction.
-
Visual updates and the auto bloodweb are huge improvements in my opinion. Looking forward to those.
-
I'll play more. Finally something that shifts the game slightly back towards balance and away from being so survivor sided. Well done devs.

If it's helpful, I got a wonderful tip that has made a huge difference for me when playing from a streamer
Every instinct when playing these kind of games is "Go for the weak link". The guy who goes off on their own, hammer them until they are dead
That is the opposite of what you want to do in this game. At the very beginning, don't expect to be able to kill a single person. Basically your only job is to harass whoever is doing the objective as much as possible. If one person is off on their own, let them and only focus on slowing down the three people who are collecting the map pieces or whatever. The longer you stretch the game out, the more powerful you become.
Along with that, when you don't know where anyone is, just fly around (ideally in the area of the dagger and pages since you know they'll have to go there eventually) and just constantly set traps. Setting traps also powers you up so even if that trap never actually does anything, setting it gives you power.
Personally my go-to has been to upgrade all trap right away. Then upgrade energy until you start getting the passive energy (I believe that's 4 energy upgrades?). Then whatever your preferred playstyle is (like for me, possession is very low on the totem pole as I intend to just harass everyone with NPCs until the end game when I have everything powered up anyway but it's your call what you do here).
Hopefully that helps. I was frustrated as hell with Demon at first but once I started playing like this, I've won far more matches than I've lost (and usually I lose because of the stupid RNG stuff this game has with spawning objectives; thanks game, I love that the dagger and pages spawned next to each other so they can do both at the same time!)
Thanks friend. Appreciate you taking the time to help.
-
Just don't play Demon in this game.
If you think dbd is survivor sided, imagine if 90% of your dbd killer game you are flying around passively as a disembodied entity, having to collect orbs in order to do anything, with your only ability being aimlessly setting useless traps or possesing (which is also pointless) And the other 10% when it comes to fighting survivors your units are stun locked and wrecked instantly.
And not forgetting if you do die as survivor, you can be resurrected an infinite number of times.

I want to know what anyone gets a good feeling out of in DBD. What is satisfying to you? What is something you really like and would want to achieve in a trial? Do you want to get max bloodpoints each time you play? Are you a survivor that likes to keep the killer's attention in a chase while your team can work on other things? Do you like to sneak up on a survivor and make them not know what hit them? Do you repair generators like it's your day job? Do you like kicking a generator to keep those pesky survivors within The Entity's arena? What do you enjoy doing? What is your main source of fun in DBD? It can be that cheeky feeling when the killer can't find you. It can be the success you feel when you sacrifice a survivor.
What is your goal in a game? What do you want to accomplish in a game? What is a win to YOU?
