Ah yes, fighting toxicity with toxicity. Been there.
It sucks to be a killer now. Try playing both roles and you will see what the issues are.
I don't agree with tunneling and face camping, I personally feel like it's a waste of a match but it seems to be the only way most killers can get anything done now without being steamrolled in every single match.
Nail on the head has been hit.

Survivors will downplay the significance Boons have by saying that they take time to place or only have a small area of effect.
In reality, the time it takes to place them is meaningless when there are 2-3 other survivors still doing gens and getting the team objective done.
There isn't much point in playing killer anymore given the current state of the game. I have noticed that getting survivor matches is taking a bit longer than it used to. I think a lot of killers must have thrown their arms up and either quit or switched roles.
Exactly. Reading survivors desperately try to defend Boon Totems is almost as bad as watching Dominic Cummings defend his trip to the castle 😂😂

Go insidious and camp the exit gate with NOED /Bubba. Gen rushing means you don't have to wait long, and it's hecka fun to shock them.

Then why do they complain about the same 6 perks being used in every match? Only way to fix this is to add new strong perks
I'm not. And neither are many others. Please stop generalising.
I won't presume to speak for all those you mention above. However from what I have read, they are asking for nerfs to the meta perks (such as DH). Not for more even stronger ones.
To add, I really dislike perks such as DH, bit wouldn't ask people to stop using them, and I don't consider them OP. Boon totems though are, and have broken the game IMHO.
-
Yes. Having lots of fun now as insidious Bubba.
Lots of camping hooked survivors or even waiting by an exit gate (my favourite). Gens all get rushed in no time now anyway, so you don't have to wait it out at a gate long to surprise some poor survivor and face camp them. Add some NOED for extra spice.
I sincerely recommend the exit gate strategy.
-
Lol of course there was no such thing even as the boycott. Just a few well known people on here crying and virtue signalling because Mommy didn't give them enough attention.
-
Best / Easiest way for killers to get kills now, with all the nerfs and survivor buffs. It is only going to increase.

Wrong

Yes. Boon Totems are OP and have killed the game for killers.

Sure this game may have game breaking bugs every patch or frustrate the living daylights out of you. But one thing I think we can all agree on is the how freaking good the music is in this game, especially the menu and chase music to be more specific. One of the things I look forward to most when a killer is updated or a new one is added, they always without a doubt take my breath away with the different soundtracks they have for the killers and I just want to say thank you. While we are at it, what’s everyone’s favourite chase music themes ? I honestly can’t get over Nemesis and his chase music it’s just so good.
I agree with you here.

Debatable, but DBD is still more successful.
Clearly it is more successful. I can't argue that. But nobody could ever convince me dbd is a better game. Not a chance.

Then you didn't play for long. You can look up videos of it happening if you need proof. There was also the fact that if you played as the runner chick, and Jason was a varient that couldn't run and only walk, if you juked his ghosty teleport thing, he could never catch you even with fatigue. There were plenty of games that I would just run around the graveyard gates til the 20 min timer was up and wouldn't ever be caught. And even if I failed a juke, well alright here take a pocket knife to the face and do it again. And then again after that. The game devolved to a bully sim even more so than dbd
Dont presume. I played since launch for nearly 3 years, and only as Jason 3, who could run. Never had anyone loop me like that. A few escapes sure, but being Jason felt so much more powerful than dvd.

F13 released in mid 2017, DBD on console released shortly after. F13 stopped recieving content in June 2018. It had plently of time to kill it but it didn't.
F13 was still a much better game regardless

It started dying before that happened though. The moment everyone realized how simple it was to beat the hell out of jason, the game started to die. No one wanted to play jason anymore as it became a "bully the killer" situation, as well as the numerous ways to bug him out to prevent him from killing anyone, or even just straight up sending him to space with a baseball bat.
The license issue sped it up because of not being able to fix that or add new content. But it was sadly a dying game already.
Never happened when I was Jason 😉

There has been competition, it just hasn't been as good as dbd. And no one is forcing you to stay. Using your own example, no one is forcing you to eat. And if you really feel the need, you can always go try new foods, or even create something new yourself
Not true for console players. Friday 13th was immeasurably better than Dbd, but died because of the licence issue.

When the game first came out, scratch marks were an integral part of the base game. The game is literally built around part of this. People have stated other perks offer the same thing and that is true. Lucky break offers it, but it's one time and for one survivor. This perk benefits every survivor. Also, the argument people have that it takes 14 seconds to boon a totem and how much time that wastes the survivor when they could be doing a gen. What about the number of people who lose the killer when they are injured and dodge a hook, the survivors that run to that area and heal themselves while others are on gens. You have to fill out the whole equation to get the result the boon totems are very strong. They are too strong. There isn't an argument that can be made the way they are implemented today that can suggest otherwise.
People suggesting good killers don't need scratch marks is bull. When a killer loses a line of sight how do they find out the general direction of the survivor? Remember, the base game was built around this concept. The best killers can't read survivors' minds 100% of the time. They look at crows, scratch marks and grass, and a general whereabouts the survivor may have gone. Not being able to see aura's and scratch marks is so game-breaking. I don't know if people that are supporting it saying it's not strong or git good are being disingenuous or baiting, its objectively game-breaking.
Great points

I agree, it's a boost to survivors that you can stop if you find it, but they can just set it up again. As I said in my other post Killers can't reset hex totems. it would feel better to me if the totem was destroyed if a killer found it just like survivors destroying a hex.
I think this is a fair suggestion.

You didn't give evidence either, and you used awful examples to compare to boons, showing you really just don't understand how they work. You saying "Well me no like, me playing bad now 😡" was evidence that I not only consulted, but I gave a response and answer to.
It isn't a superiority complex. Just like me saying you probably make excuses for losses in-game, you are now making excuses for a discussion. I have only stated things that happen in-game and the solution of being able to pressure good and make use of the time wasted from boons as it is a great amount.
Since you count just saying how it has been going as "evidence" then fine.
Since the new patch has dropped, I decided to play mainly ghostface, a killer that besides the occasional instadown, is an m1 killer that relies on hit and run, a playstyle that said CoH should gut. It does really hurt the playstyle, but not horribly. My build consisted of Thrill, Lethal, Pop, and BBQ. Thrill is a great new perk for making blessing take longer.
I have yet to feel the need to think "wow, boons are op, im losing so much to it!" I have lost a handful of matches due to me playing fairly bad, but other than that, it hasnt super affected me. I saw Boon: shadowstep in about 3/4ths of my matches, and I only got confused by it twice on Coldwind, the same match. Circle of healing is really threatening and it was in about 90% of my matches, but everytime I heard the thunder, that meant one less survivor was working on a gen.
Overall, being able to track footstep sounds, blood that isn't hidden by shadowstep, and breathing if they didn't have iron will made shadowstep nearly a wasted perk slot. For circle of healing it was definitely effective, but I could keep track of gens better as kicking the boon took almost no time from me, and took survivors a good amount of time to keep resetting. It is a strong perk and it makes me happy to see something new in the game besides the same build every time, but there was never nothing I could do about it. Compared to my matches last patch, these new matches on average lasted about 2 minutes longer as well, really nice to see.
Good enough adult talk for you?
We both have had different experiences clearly.
Like I said, since you wish to resort to insults and being rude, let's just agree to disagree ok.

More future updates designed to further tip the balance in favour of survivors. Can't say I'm surprised.

I have had the game for over a year now, however it stayed in my Steam library until the last month, when I have played killer and survivor equally. As a killer I have found that sometimes it is better to let the team gets saves, I may not get a 4K every time, but BP stacks up. If I have a bad game and it looks like I won't get a kill without escapes, I either just let them go or hook and give them a chance to save, however not every killer plays like this.
I have just played a game where the killer was about to lose a 4k. At the game he managed to get me down, no problem, it happens. He then took me to a hook and stood in front and kept hitting me, not even worrying about the rest of the team trying to get the rescue. Unfortunately nobody had BT, so as soon as anybody went for the save, I just had to take the death.
He then came on and started being toxic to us on chat.
Then in another game the killer was bad, and decided to camp. We went for the saves with flashlights and the like and did gens. Two escaped and ran out, it was a long game keep trying to lure the killer away, we opened chest, broke pumpkins to give him a chance. The killer was hitting people on the hook. At the end of the game he said he camped cause we used flashlights and started calling us toxic. The only was they got two kills because we gave them a chance. They was bragging that they was a silver and it was higher rank to us and most of what they said was censored. There was a lot about the survivors having perks, which was funny when they ran corrupt, barbeque and chilli and ruin.
I'm not really bothered how people want to play, if they want to camp then they camp and we do gens. If they want to pressure the gens and stop us doing them, then so be it, but please don't get toxic with a team that all said ggs and blame them for the toxic way you play.
Please toxic killers, stop making it worse for us killers that play the game in a fair way. The object is to kill, but not by being toxic. I am the first to say I hate toxic survivors, but you can't moan about them if killers play like that and still carry on. If you don't like that survivors have perks then play something else.
May I ask. What would you consider toxic?

@Ryan489x said:
I can't say I a fan of them either. I don't play killer much but just doing it a little bit the other day showed me how boons make the game quite frustrating.
If you've got 3 people using the boons (which I have run into) it makes keeping them in check impossible. if all 4 players are using boons forget it.
Sure the boons don't stack, apparently but with 3 or 4 players able to set up 4 separate boons in different spots on the map. good luck.
Yes Killers cam rum a build entirely made out of hexes if they want where survivors only have the 2 boons it's still more powerful on the survivor side.
- killers get one totem per hex that set at random throughout the map. once they're destroyed they're gone for good.
- survivors can place a boon on any totem they find and can do it over and over again if they need too.
- hexes do one thing per hex.
- as others have said, the 2 boons do 4 things total and are active at the same time in up to 4 places if all players are using them.
- for cleansing and or blessing a totem survivors get points for doing so.
- for snuffing out boon totems killers get nothing but wasted time and a stomp animation.
So yes they are very powerful I wouldn't say OP. but I feel that there should be a consequence for killers finding and snuffing a boon totem that isn't just "Oh just set it up again." Killers can't reset hex totems. Undying is a hex in itself and it got nerfed to only work once.
This is coming from someone who plays far more survivor then killer
As a killer main who believes they are OP, I enjoyed reading your post, and found your arguments considered and respectful. Unlike others on here. It has given me food for thought, so I appreciate your well written argument.

You basically just told me you don't actually have an argument against me.
I gave you loads of evidence and you result to "I cant take that seriously".
Then don't take it seriously, get good or leave the game because the devs made it clear they are happy with boons.
You provided zero evidence. Whereas I, on the other hand, am telling the evidence I have from the actual experience of playing the game as killer recently.
If you are finished with your superiority complex of insulting me and telling me to get good or quit the game, let's agree to disagree. If you don't wish to debate as an adult, best leave it as that.

what you are suggesting are flat things that killers can literally not do anything, and are nothing like boons lmao. You are acting like boons are a permanent base kit boost to all survivors that make them impossible to down and you can't do anything about when in reality they are a time sink for survivors that require them to leave their objective to do, and that killers can deal with relatively easily. This isn't the cry of an elitist, it is me telling you that the game was much worse, and that boons are a pretty healthy change compared to the past, hell compared to the past killer has never felt better to play. Again it really seems like you are the type to never blame a loss on yourself, and that you have to have an excuse for every loss that comes your way. The game was sure as hell not balanced before this patch, I mean as killer I have never played more stress-free because large key escapes are literally not a possibility anymore. BTW, CoH without medkits is still 16 seconds to heal, not a super fast heal, and again, if you can't track and chase without scratch marks that is literally a problem on your skill. That is ok, it is all about improving, but that is hard if you are so stubborn to change and improvement that at the sight of it you act like killer is impossible to play. It has never been better.
Please learn to use paragraphs.
Also, you don't know me so please don't profess to know "my type". I'm sorry to say that you make your whole point irrelevant with comments such as "there has never been a better time to play killer". That alone means I can't take you seriously. Sorry.

If you look at it's usage, it really isn't being used that much for it just being the 2nd week of release and the usage is becoming less and less. If survivors aren't using it that much, it isn't OP.
I mean think about it, why waste a perk slot for something that any teammate can do for you in 16 seconds off hook.
I am looking at it's usage. I'm seeing it in every game I play. Normally with at least 2 survivors running it.

Survivors have always been able to "super" heal. Be it medkit, self-care, Better Together, etc etc. Heck, another survivor can heal you off hook for 16 seconds without using a single perk slot. You're acting like healing is a whole new thing that never happened before.
Self care is not a "super heal". The fact is they can now do it without a med kit, without a teammate, and quicker then they ever could with self care

I'm also experiencing it every match, and they are strong- but they're the kind of strength you change your approach to accommodate, not the kind of strength that breaks the game.

Don't be sarcastic at me and I won't be passive aggressive to you, simple as that.
A new mechanic is always going to have a learning curve. You're always going to have to learn to play around something that gets added to the game, otherwise there's no point to adding it to the game at all.
You were straight up rude and disrespectful. End of. I didn't direct anything at you, but you chose to do so to me.
But sure. Its laughable that you think all of the benefits boons offer is not a significant switch in balance to the survivors. I'm experiencing it every match. So how about maybe listening to the experiences of a killer instead of choosing to be rude and nasty.

It is the fact the survivors DIDN'T get a huge advantage? Did you not play around the time of Sprint Burst that recovered while running? Or MoM on release? Old DS? Did you not play when infinites were a near constant in maps? A good team based new effect that requires you to leave your objective to activate it and that the killer can deal with fairly easily is not nearly as OP and broken as things used to be. Playing the killer means you are playing the harder role, it is that way in basically every asymmetrical game. Survivors have had loads of huge advantages in the past. Killers have had just as much. Moris on 1st hook. OmegaBlink Nurse. Spirit being broken for her entire release. Hell even the Huntress and huge hitboxes for a long time. Boons are an amazing healthy change compared to things they have done in the past, and they even made boons take longer to place on hexes. If you don't capitalize on all the time wasted by boons, that is quite literally on you. The saying of "Get Good" exists for a reason

Again, if the only way you track survivors is by scratchmarks, it is on you. If you can't pressure gens and get rid of boons with the natural flow of the match, it is on you. I don't know how else to really say this lol. This same thing happens in like every game. New thing gets added, people don't know how to face it, call it op, they get better and learn how to deal with it, it isn't op, new thing gets added etc. Like do you not ever see losses as possibly your fault? Sometimes it is healthy to see that it wasn't dirty SWF or genrushers and that you just didn't play the best and can improve because again, it is a pvp game.

Buddy, being able to track without scratch marks is not "elite", it's a really basic skill to learn. Now, when Shadow Step is combined with other stealth perks, it does get nasty, but the likelihood of the whole team bringing a full stealth build is pretty low- and it means their perks aren't doing anything else, at least.
You should be more worried about Circle of Healing if you play a killer that doesn't have an instadown. Shadow Step is much easier to play around and a much more fair challenge.

No they haven't swung the game in the survivors favour lmao it is the fact that it is a pvp game and it is ridiculous people think that the game should never involve improving and getting better. If you were doing ok before boons, honestly you should still be doing ok, I don't know how you guys are getting abused by them when they have very defined value for survivors and killers
But since Boons I have gone from doing ok, to getting smashed those same survivors who can nowheal super quick and can hide their auras and scratchmarks.

Did I say that? Or did I say that removing scratch marks is a reasonable challenge for a perk to provide?
Some perks already did this, you know. Most people agree they're kinda bad (except buffed Lucky Break, which also has a very strong secondary effect) because it's a small benefit, typically with weird requirements.

I didn't say it wasn't strong, I said it wasn't that strong- which it isn't. There are killers with hidden scratch marks as part of their basekit, because it's the perfect option for making a chase a little harder without making it impossible to win.
Straight up, if you find yourself incapable of tracking a survivor just because there aren't any scratch marks (with exceptions for maps where that is genuinely difficult, like Lery's), that's a you problem.
So we should just get rid of scratch marks then? If we don't need them? Sure. Not that strong.

The only people I see complaining about Boons are people who struggle with the game as is. If a full team has boons, that is so much time saved for me as the killer. Hell I've already seen solo queue people complaining about boon teammates lmao. The more you can place them, the more time wasted for the survivors meaning the killer can pressure. It isn't rocket science, it is basic math. I don't care what your winrate is, it isn't hard to have a good winrate if I just bring NOED alone, or camp and hard tunnel, but I do care about your actual skill as killer, and just to be honest if you are struggling hard with boons, it is because you have stuff to learn and improve.

Shadow step is incredibly strong. It neuters the aura reading part of a killers arsenal. Even the best killers find survivors from stray scratch marks in the environment, not even in chase. And audio? The sound occlusion is bugged half the time and the other half the survivors are running iron will so it doesn't matter regardless.
Circle of healing singlehandedly kills the hit and run play style. It's insane the amount of control is removes from killers in a match. There are no choices to be made, commit to every chase because you cannot create pressure any other way. The option simply does not exist. This is bad for the game.
You're right. The person arguing it isn't strong needs to beam back to earth ASAP.
-
@jesterkind said:
Shadow Step isn't really that strong, though? Removing scratch marks is only a moderately good effect for the survivor side unless you're in an indoor map, and removing auras is good but pretty easily played around in the long run by just not leaning on aura reading perks as your sole source of tracking.
Circle of Healing is strong, but worst case scenario there is just that instadown and Broken are going to be more popular, or killers will just commit to a down instead of hit-and-run. It's definitely strong and might need tuning down, but it's hardly apocalyptic.
So you think hiding scratchmarks isn't strong. I'd like a shot of whatever you are drinking!
-
I agree, that is cool. Though no sure it is super respectful.
-
Was the game so unbalanced before, that we needed to give survivors the ability to rapidly heal, with no medkit, and the ability to hide their scratch marks and auras..... didn't think so!
Just admit you have been given a huge huge advantage that swings any game in your favour. Instead of being all weasily and pretending it's fine.
