yea as awful as the map is, I've at least had good games cuz it's just awful for everybody, not just killer. Haddonfield can just get Alt+F4'd from the game

    Agreed 😂😂

    Haddonfield.

RPD's at least really cool aesthetically, and it's a little more equal-opportunity awful for everyone.

Exactly my thoughts. RPD is at least awful for everyone and a bit different. Haddonfield is so unbalanced.

We all know the Killer has won - we do, but I am fed up of having to bleed out on the floor while Killer goes to search for who ever is left in the game and I can't do nothing about it, even Unbreakable is no counter to this. I don't wish to DC due to loosing what points I have esp if I played party streamers etc Why should I have to wait around, bleeding and unable to do anything while Killer seeks out others and even if I manage to get up, downed again. I am not saying all Killers do this but I am getting fed up, waiting until the Killer decides then to down us all, and hook us all when all I wish to do is move on. I get it you won.

Question. Considering this addon without ruin , isn't just a matter of 99'ing gens to not activate them?

It's best paired with the Annotated Plan Add on. In your scenario it would probably result in instant death for all those still with the Bear Trap on, once the fifth gen popped.

  • Nope. You're wrong. I've never complained about Dead Hard or said it should be removed. Try again.

  • I don't have a problem with survivors using Dead Hard. I would too. So try again 😂😂

Honestly its just bad killers that need to tunnel and needs noed specially a myers and a bubba carrying it.

    Do Bones

  • What did times do to upset you?

  • Relentless pursuit of a survivor is as valid and as fine a part of the game as any other "tactic". You play how you want, and never be made to feel had for it.

  • Sucks for you, but I'm sorry to say it is not the killers responsibility to help you farm (or even assume its what you want). The game has been killed by the DC so he/she probably just wanted to end it quickly and move on.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

I wouldn't mind if no more than 2 different gens can be worked simultaneously. This would cut off the 3 gens popping during first chase, without hurting solo play.

yes i get your point and it is right, the clickety click survivors comes from what i said before , the killers have the tools to torture but since they started going for the 4k only the devs gave the survivors more tools to escape then simply "surviving" and thats why a good survivor is stronger then a good killer and why there is even a possibility within the game for survivors to make fun of the killer

Indeed it is hard to fix it since like you said people will go for the "win" always , what i look for is to change what the win means as to instead of simply getting a 4k as an end goal , making all the things within the match goals themselves, thats why i used the term "torture".

I have seen people complain (Im not 100% sure if its right or wrong) that the game is design only for new players not taking into account the high mmr like a competitive game like league of legend does (making changes and explaining in which "elo" they were necessary), this might also be part of the problem.

Yeah I understand. I've heard a few people say its all about the entity wanting to offer survivors hope, then take it away.

  • If I was a survivor main and had 3 friends who played this game I'd be SWF all the way. So as a killer main it would be unfair to criticise those who choose to play that way.

However, do I think it offers a huge advantage in an already survivor sided game? Of course. Therefore it's easy for that to breed toxic group bullying behaviour.

    I feel for you.

  • Interesting read, and a different perspective.

My take. Regardless of what the developers "want" the aim of the game to be (and how/if the rewards reflect that), people playing the game see it as an "us versus them" (maybe they should), and want to "win". I'm willing to bet most people would take a fun 4k game with minimal BP, over a sweat fest 0k with a ton of BP (Yes I know that wouldn't happen but hopefully that articulates my point).

There really isn't any "torturing" on the hook if you have 4 survivors teabagging and clickety clicking at you from the exit gate.

Lmfao whatever. Back pedal to subjective opinions when you were parading your opinions as facts earlier...let's see in your own words "Undermining" my experience.

"My point stands that it is harder now than it was to be killer two years ago"

"Most importantly my experience that even as an average player, every game I play now is so much harder than even when I started. Objectively so."

Doesn't sound very opinionated. Not being defensive, I'm just calling you out on your hypocrisy when you shrink on your arguments finally.

Anyway, I'll let you off the hook.

    Bye.

Every game I do play now is harder, Fact. I find the game harder now, fact.

What killer Nerf? Nerfing a few killers with arguably broken mechanics doesn't mean you nerfed the entire roster and that's disingenuous. The game as a whole is better for killers now and what Survivor buff? You mean boon totem? How about the myriad of Strong survivor tools that I listed before that you so conveniently left out? Before there was boon totem there was Instant full health heals and again the list goes on. The windows and pallets volume was worse back then and you thought this was bad lol.

No, it's the opposite. You're overexaggerating your experience. I'm not sure whether you experienced the game back then but it is no way harder right now. It's just factually impossible and you going around saying it was objective fact is mind boggling.

There can only be one right because you made a statement about this game's current state being the HARDEST and kept insisted that it is objective fact, I disagreed. Then you back pedaled to "muh opinion" "subjectivity" when I provided points that is many times more than what you listed(4).

Mate, you're the one who came at me first and disagreed with what I said when you specifically asked for my thoughts and now you're playing as if you're the Saint in all of this? Come on now.

Allow me apologise if I misrepresented my point initially. Hopefully I've cleared up what I was trying to say and you can accept that.

    No hard feelings friend.

I did experience the game 2 years ago as it is when I started playing. And I'm experiencing it now. And I find it harder now. Fact. Thanks for your input.

It goes without saying that when someone makes a comment on how hard or otherwise the game is, it is of course subjective and an opinion.

My facts are that I do in fact find the game harder now. And I've given plenty of reasons why. By arguing with me so aggressively you are basically calling me a liar. And of course I would take offence to that.

No idea why you continue to be so defensive when I've said I respect your point of view. Why is it so important to you, to try and beat me down or prove me wrong?

Yea, it’s not just that it’s tougher. I don’t mind having to try hard in order to win; the problem is that optimal play is incredibly boring. If I want to 4k against a competent group, I essentially have to tunnel/camp hook. Games that I win aren’t fun, and obviously letting 2-3 get out by playing more relaxed also isn’t fun.

Yeah, I can't really disagree with you. Fair point.

As someone who started playing 3 years ago, killer is definitely worse now than it was 2 years ago. MMR has made this game almost unplayable because they don’t balance it for skilled players.

I agree the matchmaking feels much worse now. Whether it is, or it is a case of the "Peter Principle", my games are notably tougher every time with any killer.

No this is just how I type. I'm blunt about stuff and you playing painfully oblivious to my points is making me scratch my head.,

Lol you cherry picked the walls out of all my points, really? That's it? And you wonder why I'm seemingly 'aggressive' with you lol. You don't realize how breakable walls changed some things, Yes it may not be perfect but at least you can diminish strong window's effectiveness. Back then It had Infinite loops you can't do anything about, I repeat. You can't do anything about but watch them vault 3 times then go to a safe pallet then do the same thing again because the entity blocker disappears.

So basically you don't want to admit you're wrong so you want me to just say okay no one is right so everyone is happy. Face palm.

I never called you a liar by the way quote me on when did I say that? I said the game being harder now that it was ever before is factually incorrect. Game was harder multiple teams over the years and game got easier. Community faced newest road block(Boons and matchmaking) and everyone is suddenly on a mental breakdown and the whole world is crumbling lmao.

For the record, I appreciate your perspective, and how passionate you are about it, despite not understanding how passionate you are to try to undermine my experience. But I respect your opinion, even if I disagree.

We are both (presumably) adults, so we can agree to disagree with civility, and ultimately neither my view, or yours are harmful to the other side, so we can leave it there. Good debate.

The walls were the only example you gave that is different now. That's why I picked it out, but caveat that it hasn't made the game easier for killers (basically because of killer nerfs, survivor buffs and the sheer volume of pallets and windows)

I never got aggressive, rude or insulting with you, so there was no need for you to do so back.

I said you were either calling me a liar or undermining my experience. I guess it's the latter then.

I am finding the game much harder now, is the ultimate point I'm making. So you can see why I disagree with you "facts". So I'm obviously not going to say I'm wring because my experience is what I have outlined multiple times.

Why do you seem to think the only two options are me being wrong, or you being wrong? Maybe we are both right, because the game is different for everyone, and me and so many other are saying how hard it is now. When you argue so vigorously against that, can you see how that comes across?

Anyway, like I said. Good luck nobhard feelings. We have a different opinion, why does it matter?

Mate all I listed was available two years ago where did you even get the idea I was talking about launch state? I wasn't even present at launch lmao, I joined when Legion dropped but from seeing even older video the game's state was even horrid. It's a gaming miracle that this game survived 5 years.

You go from aggressive to passive aggressive.

Because the most significant issues you stated from two years ago still exist today (breakable walls haven't offest the rest of the changes that make loops easier for survivors for example). I gave you examples of things, from my own experience that make it harder now, that were not the case 2 years ago.

So respectfully, instead of being so determined to either a) call me a liar, or b) undermine my own experiences, can we just agree to disagree and move on?

And I gave you objective reasons as to why I disagree that it's harder before. It's no way harder now. Oh please don't pull the mock card here. If I wanted to rain on your parade I would have gone harder.

You gave reasons why it was harder at launch, but you failed to give reasons why it was harder two years ago. Whereas I gave you reasons why today is tougher than when I first started

No need to continue this discussion though, as you come across a bit too aggressive for a reasoned debate. We either have different experiences in the game or you are still not understanding my perspective. Either way no hard feelings and good luck.

  • @Myla said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2613567#Comment_2613567

Wait that's just your list as to why the game is 'harder' now?

Lmfao do you not remember the Full insta heals? 4 Meta perks of the apocalypse they weren't Nerfed? broken mettle of man? Infinite loops since breakable doors didn't exist? spawning strong tiles even more and pallet city? Meta toolboxes? Fog offerings actually working? Maps were huge but some of those were sorta downsized right now, Hiding under hook exploits, Survivors doesn't lose add ons so they can bring it again in the next match?,See through tiles so mind game was worthless, Red light config to so red stains are so bright so again no more mindgame, etc and these are just stuff on top of my head.

Matchmaking? Lmao the game has been this way off and on over the years every time they try to implement a matchmaking criteria and they tried multiple times. I don't see the difference.

Again hard disagree as to why the game is 'harder' right now. Game was a lot harder back then.

Again (and I can't believe I need to keep saying this). Please read..... I am not comparing the game with "back then", or saying it is harder for killers "than ever".

I'm saying that in the approximate two years since I have played the game, it is harder now than it has ever been. And I gave you objective reasons why that is so.

So continue to mock and show disrespect if you wish. Unfortunately that is all too common on here when people are trying to express their experiences

More or less yeah, 2 kills and 2 escapes would mean your rating doesn’t change too much. It would change a little, though, simply because the amount the killer goes up or down for each survivor depends on their relative ratings to each other. If you kill a higher rated survivor your rating goes up more than if you kill a lower rated survivor, and vice versa for escapes. So between that and timing possibly influencing it as well means your rating will still probably change slightly one way or another on a 2 kill match depending on the exact ratings and details.

Got it. Appreciate the reply, thank you.

  • @dugman said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2613749#Comment_2613749

It’s slightly more complicated. The order of when someone gets killed and how long the match takes apparently also impacts how much someone gains or loses in the hidden rating. That’s because once two survivors are dead it becomes much more likely for another survivor to die, for instance, so they don’t adjust downward or upward as much on the third kill as the second. Likewise a really quick 4k or 4 escape makes the ratings go up or down more than a longer match.

But otherwise, yeah, kills and escapes are presumably the most important factors. If survivor is killed their rating goes down and the killer’s goes up, if they escape vice versa. How much it goes up or down depends a bit on the details.

So the killer needs 2 kills to "be on par", with no up or down movement by this logic. Did I understand correctly?

  • Let's be honest. Most survivors on this forum would defend Booms even if they offered an"activate Boon to make yourself invulnerable for the rest of the trial function".

It has given them a huge advantage over killers and they are terrified of them being nerfed.

  • I might win a game in that case 😂😂

  • @Impose said:

Main statement. Every single killer (Yes Nurse, yes Blight, yes Spirit) needs buffs. Every. Single. One.

Now, before all of you freak out at me, look first at the reasoning behind this.

It's VERY common knowledge that as the MMR goes up, the game goes more and more to the survivor favored in terms of gameplay. At potato mmr the killer wins (ironically Nurse at potato mmr is actually the worst killer in the game), as the MMR starts to balance out the game fluctuates to even. At the absolute highest of MMR (that is, 4 man swfs, tournament play) the game balance fluctuates SO far to survivors that the literal best killer players in the world get maybe 2 hooks with one kill while running NOED and camping for their last kill, even as Nurse.

In an ideal world you'd have something in the middle, which this game does not have. If you look at the overall killer power level in the game. Nurse, the best killer in this game, at the highest level of the game, can only manage to kill one survivor out of 4, with NOED and camping. Legion obviously couldn't down a good survivor by the time 5 gens popped against a 4 man swf with actual skill and map knowledge.

We can't balance the game around the top tier as much as I would like to, that would alienate the lower skilled playerbase. However it must be shown that as survivors get better, which in theory, every single player who plays the game gets better over time, killers get worse. Killers remain static in power and go down in power as you understand more and more how the killer works.

When the best players in the world on X killer (which killer is irrelevant) cannot manage to even "tie" the game (tie in this sense is two kills two escapes), its very simple to assume that the killer powerlevel at EVEN MMR is drastically low.

TL;DR Killers, once you reach a certain MMR are ALL terrible, Nurse and Blight included. Once survivors reach X number of knowledge in a game, every single killer in the game becomes bad. Any other PvP game would have seen every single killer in this game buffed LONG ago.

Let the hate flow now :D

    Agreed

    In layman's terms.

List your problems with the game right now and the game back then still had most of its faults and had more.

Ok. I already did, but will do so again. And also, you are framing is as "problems", and misrepresenting my point. I am simply talking about how it is harder as a killer now than it was, based on my own experience, and offering reasons for that.

    1) Killer nerfs in the last 2 years (Freddy, Spirit, Wraith, Deathslinger to name a few).

    2) Boon Totems

    3) Matchmaking

    4) Pallet volume

    5) Most importantly my experience that even as an average player, every game I play now is so much harder than even when I started. Objectively so.

Assuming you agree with even just one of those, my point is valid.

  • @Myla said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2613453#Comment_2613453

Winning is fun. There's nothing complicated about it what makes it 'more fun'. Killers want to win since you're in a competitive mindset the entire match always thinking about what's going in in the middle of the match and winning is your reward for it as opposed to a Survivor just listening to music and their head not in the game its four people after all any of your mistakes can be repaired by your teammates, A killer can potentially lose a game by just one miss lunge. Obviously you're getting frustrated by every single thing you deem unfair in the game that cheeses your hard work. It could be anything like Infinite heals with boons, obnoxious maps like Haddonfield, SWF on comms, RNG, etc. In that sense the game is just as frustrating.

Both current and previous states were bad I just think that the game had more cheeses two years ago.

Sorry, but I still can't see your argument about why the killer experience is better now than it was now. I don't know what you mean by "cheeses". My point stands that it is harder now than it was to be killer two years ago. If anything your above points kinda make it sound like you agree with me.

I can agree with that, the wording of it made me think you were saying it's harder than it's ever been EVER! Since MMR killer has been a bit dicey for me more than usual :/

Then I apologise if my words were confusing, or outright misleading.

All I have to compare to is my time playing the game. And that was what I was trying to say. Glad we (sort of) agree then 😃

The ol’ hit and run, hook trading, fair game, GG’s all round play style is just not possible anymore, not with the sorry state that killer games are in

gens are flying faster than the speed of light, heals are lightning fast and infinite with boons, scratch marks and none existent

it’s just not viable anymore to switch targets and “play fair”

with each update tunnelling and camping become more and more necessary just to confirm at least one kill before the final generator pops, without it most killers just can’t apply enough pressure on teams, with the exception of certain killers. Blight, Nurse ect

do the devs honestly believe this is fair? Or fun for killers in that regard. I don’t want to tunnel and camp, but if I’m playing an M1 killer against toolbox’s, Prove Thyself, Brand New Part’s, Boons and other meta perks then I don’t really have a choice do I?

Welcome to the Dark Side. It's more fun here.

Not a fact, @MrsGhostface is correct. 2 years is not very long, you don't know the pain of the early days. Infinites, no window blocking, toolboxes with charges for days etc. Killer is definitely in one of the best places it has ever been, boons have made a little dent in that, but it's nowhere near as bad as it used to be.

I stand by what I said. Saying the game is better now than at launch is irrelevant and not the point I'm making. I'm saying it is worse for killers now than at any point in the last two years.

I have yet to hear a considered argument to convince me otherwise, as your points again fixate on "the early days".

  • @Malkhrim said:

The devs wanted add a new mechanic to the game. I get it. But the way it was introduced was terrible, and what bothers me the most is that the way it is designed and the changes made to the game for its release seem to make sure they had no counters whatsoever. Honestly, this almost feels like making the new perks unhealthy on purpose.

The killer may snuff it early? Make so it has unlimited uses with no cooldown.

The killer may use many hex perks and leave few dull totems on the map? Make it so they can bless hex totems too. That would make them have to choose between cleansing or blessing a hex? No problem, just make it so it removes the hex without removing the totem.

The killer would see where the boon totem is though the notification that appears when the hex totem is cleansed? Make it so it doesn't show up when it's blessed (this one can be worked around by memorizing where the totem was, but this feature is something that still makes boons a little stronger).

The killer can use Thrill of the Hunt, which is a really underpowered, outdated and barely used perk that could finally become more useful and used more often (which would be a good thing, by the way) now that boon totems are being added, because it would show were boon totems are being blessed and help the killer to prevent it and to find the totems until his hex totem was cleansed (which is still a very easy and simple way to counter a killer perk)? JUST NERF THE ALREADY WEAK PERK by removing its most important feature and make it useless! Now no one will use this perk at all! What a great idea to balance the game (this one was the worst. Thrill of the Hunt could have finally gained more value, but instead was made completely useless and one of the worst killer perks in the game by now)!

What will be next? Nerfing Forced Penance so its broken effect can no longer prevent survivors from benefitting from Boon: Circle of Healing? Or, since nerfing bad and underused perks is a thing now, maybe we should nerf Beast of Prey, Monstrous Shrine and Furtive Chase? Who thought this was a good idea?

My main issue with this is that having counters and limitations makes a mechanic healthier for the game. Making sure something will have no counters is just making sure it is as unhealthy as possible. Beside the nerf Boon Totems need, I hope Thrill of the Hunt's nerf gets reversed. Seriously, this was by far the most unnecessary nerf in the history of DbD.

Because the devs care more for the survivor experience and would prefer the game in their favour. More survivors than killers. Maths.

If anyone is saying it's unfun for killers compared to before chances are they're cry babies or new to the game.

Nothing I mean nothing can beat the state of this game 1-2 years ago.

In your opinion, what would you say made the game more fun for killers, say a year or so ago than it is now? I have a number of reasons that it is worse for killers now, but would genuinely like to hear a considered opinion from the other side.

    You are lucky.

And it grates me when someone tells me 'it's just a game' ...in that case I want that 15 minutes of my life back I just spent on this steaming pile of unfulfilling garbage of a match I just played...for the tenth time today.

So you agree with me after all on the killer experience.... apology accepted 😉

And I've been playing this for three years starting out as killer main, now I do both. Pallet vacuums, instant blinds and heals, and super DS...yes, now is the easiest killers have ever had.

You're wrong. So many pallets now, killer nerfs up the wazoo, a poor Matchmaking system, and now Boons. I have never struggled as a killer as much as I do now.

Therefore by very definition and experience, it is harder to play killer now. Fact.

They have been generous to killers the past year. You’re clearly a newer player. Never been an easier time to play killer than now

Been playing for two years. Killer main the whole time. This is by far the worst and hardest time to play killer. So many nerfs, and so many survivor buffs.

My experience speaks for itself. The game is much harder than it used to be. Fact.
