@Beelzeboop @glitchboi you forgot to tag the boy's.
Anyways, man it's been a hell of a ride. Pinebrook has been such a cool series, I'm gonna be sad to see it go for now. I can't wait for the full thing to release!
Now, about this page, as usual I really like it! I fine it very eerie how Pinebrook is almost normal, but not quite as stated by Daniel. Caleb also seems off, meaner than he usually is. I wonder what's gonna happen to him.
Oh crap I forgot to do that, sorry you two. thanks QwQw its really been a long time three or four months of work and there is still a lot more, now that I'm done I can focus on the second story. Once that is done Pinebrook by then would be technically done, but thanks to your feedback and suggestions I now will commit time into adding quality of life changes to the stories
-
This is the final page, for Pinebrooks prologue, it has been one helluva journey writing this from the start we met Elliot, a man with sins he couldn't fully confront. Now to the newly named Daniel Linderton ( James Linderton ). I want to thank everyone who has enjoyed my works as an author it brings me pride and joy knowing that my work has inspired and introduced you to this dark world. I might show small excerpts to give hints what is to come but I let y'all decide. Thanks for being apart of making Pinebrook and let us see how the beginning ends.
Daniel grabbed the shirt from his closet, and changed out of his t shirt for the formal looking one. Daniel also picked up his phone, and pocket knife. " Alright time to go" He mumbled, as he marched out of his room, he saw that the Tv was turned off and Caleb was tying his shoes. " Here you are boy." Caleb said as he handed Daniel his boots. " Thanks Pa." Daniel responded, as he quickly got his boots on. After they were nice and tight, he got up and went for the coat hanger to grab his brown, leather jacket. It had wool, and fluff around the collar of the neck which Daniel thought was a nice touch.
He exited the front door along with Caleb. He began walking down the steps of the patio and to his grandpa's red truck. Caleb locked the front door, as Daniel hopped in the truck. As he buckled down, Daniel began wondering about the missing individual that was last seen in Pinebrook. Why is someone missing in a small city like Pinebrook, we aren't that big like Indianapolis, maybe Bloomington, but still just how? He wondered. Daniel heard Caleb climb in and turned his to face him. He buckled down and inserted the keys. The truck roared to life, Caleb began putting the truck in reverse.
He reversed the truck into a small rectangle section of his rocky road. The sound of the tires driving over them, was like popcorn popping in a microwave. Caleb then shifted gears and had the truck drive forward on the rocky road and stopped at a gate that blocked off people from the property. Caleb hopped out and went to the console near the gate, Daniel just waited until the thing opened. Once Caleb entered the code the gate opened, and he made his way inside the truck. They drove off the property, then onto paved road, and to the right as they passed up and down the hills around the trees.
Even though Daniel has lived in Pinebrook for all his life he was still mesmerized by its beauty. With the trees were like gateways to some place that was from some fantasy. But now, something felt different, almost out of place, the trees now didn't emit the same beauty as before. Daniel still couldn't shake off the fact that someone went missing, he turned away from the window and looked forward. " Hey grandpa." " Yeah?" Caleb responded. " Is it me does it all feel different, I still can't shake off that someone went missing here." " Well it happens, I... I believe people will find the cityboy, either way and people will carry on." Caleb answered
Daniel squinted and looked at Caleb when he answered. Daniel knew his grandfather for being caring about others, even strangers of all people, its all part of Hoosier Hospitality. But now, Daniel didn't detect a sign of that caring side of Caleb. " Grandpa you okay, you just se-." " I'm fine boy, don't worry about me now, worry about yourself, let's not talk about the missing person, understand?" Caleb questioned. Daniel sat wide eyed, and nodded. If there is one thing Daniel knew is that when his grandpa spoke in such a tone, he will shut his mouth only to him.
They began to reach the small buildings near Pinebrook, and soon they began to see the whole view. The buildings though old looked magnificent with the brick decal placed on it, yet still it felt, off. " Alright here we are, I'll drop you off right next ." Caleb spoke. " Alright, but remember to pick me up at three o clock, don't forget ." Daniel reminded Caleb. " Dammit boy, that one time, one time." Caleb remarked. " I just wanna make sure my grandpa still got it." Daniel chuckled. " Boy I can still kick yo ass and you know it. " Caleb answered, Daniel still chuckled.
They came into a parking space as Daniel hopped out of the truck and waved goodbye to his grandpa. As Caleb drove off, Daniel then began to make his way to the museum. "Daniel." A feminine voice whispered directly at his ear. He spun around to see no one, Daniel also received some weird looks, as he smiled and waved. Calm down, its just you Daniel lets not make it weird. He assured himself. Daniel sighed and began to hum a tune the people knew in this town, as he began to walk in the streets, of Pinebrook.

He’s another STARS member from the original RE game that, occasionally, pops up every now and again. His most recent playable appearance was from RE Revelations 2 though. He’s also extremely well known because he brought about one of the most unintentionally hilarious lines in the entire RE franchise that’s even still occasionally joked about to this day.

Okay I'm sorry my dear hardcore RE fans, but I just... can't help but cringe at that line " you were gonna be a Jill sandwich." I just can't take that seriously

I still think the killer is going to be Nemesis, and the survivors will be some kind of combination of either Chris, Jill, or Leon. It just makes sense given the history of all these characters along with their popularity and the lasting impact that they've made since their debuts. This is the 25th year anniversary of Resident Evil as a whole, and in the past whenever they have done crossovers with their characters they always use their most popular and recognizable characters from the series or references to them in some way. With the Division 2 when they had their crossover event they gave us the OG Chris and Jill outfits along with Leon's RPD uniform, and they also threw in Hunk's costume as well which is just your typical Umbrella special forces uniform, but long time fans know Hunk cus he always makes an appearance in the survivor side mini games. In Marvel Vs Capcom they've used both Chris and Jill along with both Nemesis and Wesker. Again, all recognizable and iconic characters that represent the core of the Resident Evil universe. Plus given that this is again an anniversary year for Resident Evil, the whole point of an anniversary is to celebrate the past that has led up to the present, acknowledge the characters and stories that started it all and that have paved the way to the modern day. RE8 is not even a month old. It will have it's chance to shine as being an addition to this universe and it's continuing story. Right now though, it's about the past.
Now Lady D and her daughters are popular sure, I've seen the memes and think most of them are actually pretty funny. But ask yourself this, aside from big mommy and goth girl fantasies and memes, are these characters genuinely interesting and memorable within their own stories? Do these characters actually leave a long lasting impact?
~~~~~~~~~SPOILERS HERE~~~~~~~~~~
From what I've been told and from what I've read, Lady D and her daughters are barely in the game, like they aren't the main antagonists and you manage to end up taking care of them pretty early on. Does a character with about 10 minutes of screen time actually leave that much of an impact outside of dumb internet memes and do they deserve to represent an entire series? Seriously think and ask yourself this.
While I do think your right the RE chapter should celebrate the past your right, but so should the newer games like 7 and the remakes ( well I guess they technically are the past ). By focusing on the games that led to Village, including, the old games and the ones there after. However maybe it would be awesome if the chapter focused on the major points in REs history, like very first game, then maybe 3 or 4,7, and even RE2 remake. But thats how I would do it
Would it be weird if I said that one of the reasons I don't think 4 is the best game in the series is because it's too long? Like Re games are known for being shorter but with a load of replay value and different challenges (either set by the game or yourself) but 4 just feels like it drags on too much.
That's not who they are aiming for. Its for older fans.
Why only the old, it wouldn't be good business wise plus you would reel in a whole lot more people by adding stuff other than the old games. Meaning you get a bigger audience
Because this is Resident Evil (at least the early games). These camera angles give the game control over what you see and how you see it. It's meant to be able to generate the kind of fear movies can do but games with "normal" controls and cameras cannot.
Having said that, I can see why newer audiences find it strange and annoying. :) Also, I know that games can make some kinds of fear that movies cannot.
And that is fine, I get that. But into today's era people would probably hate it. Ngl though it does add a level of tension that only movies can bring but the same could be said for some of the newer stuff. First person perspective can add a level of tension and fear that makes it feel like your actually there. A prime example is Outlast during one moment your strapped to a wheelchair with an insane doctor who uses surgical tools and have it shown literally inches away from your face. RE 7 did this during the dinner scene, but i think first person perspective can only go so far.
(P.S. I know your not gonna tell me but it's worth a shot, can you give us just one. small. hint. for the chapter, just one tiny hint.)
I believe that you don't know how my dad felt about the series in the 90s...maybe nowadays it can be seen by younger people, but RE7 and RE8 will never match the ICONIC characters. From Wesker, Leon, Claire, Jill, Ada, Barry, Chris, etc
Who is Barry, never heard of Barry. I know who Wesker is but after his death he just kinda felt like he existed but at the same time he didn't. Like his presence was still in the games afterwords but it only by a hair
The "old" games have been getting remakes in the form of RE2 and RE3 and there's rumors circling that RE4 will be getting a remake too although I think it's more likely that they'll go back to RE0 and RE before then since 0 was released in 2002 and the HD remaster of RE was released in 2003. With the success of the RE2 remake and the Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness coming out with my sexy mans Leon as the lead I have a feeling survivor is gonna be him. I highly recommend picking up the RE2 remake, it's the essential game for understanding the Raccoon City incident, has some of the best set pieces in the franchise, and introduced the world to the dreamboat that is Leon S. Kennedy <3
P.S. RE4 is usually pretty cheap on steam if that's your platform and I highly recommend picking that one up too.
I might get 4 but I need to clear a lot of space in my PC, and I don't really have a whole lot, but I'll see what I can do, however I have been saving my money for the chapter but we have to see how it turns out first
Honestly it's part of the game's charm and atmosphere
Yea but without the old the new would of never happen. RE1 is the definition of horror survival, set the standard.
If u needed one, RE OG trilogy would be on the Horror of Fame.
While I do agree but to be honest I never caught on with it I had the crippling mindset that it was another zombie apocalypse game with something else added to it, at that point I was so desensitized by the stereotype before I looked at the RE trilogy, and it just never clicked with me like 7 or the others
-
@Brokenbones said:
The likelyhood is that if we get a shotgun approach from the OG games, we'll get cosmetics and legendaries from the new games. It probably depends on how much freedom BHVR has and so on.
I imagine Ethan Winters as a legendary for example
Off topic, I would recommend you check out Resident Evil 1 (The remake) at some point, it's an extremely well made and fun game.
I've looked at it I just can't god damn stand the camera angles in each room, when I first saw it I thought it was so terrible. Why keep it in the 2016 remake
-
@Brokenbones said:
They will probably do the Silent Hill 'shotgun' approach
A map from one game, a survivor from one game and a killer from one game
Representation spanning multiple games in the franchise
I really am kinda scared if that is gonna be the case, because then I think they'll solely focus on the old games. I never played the OG games given that I'm still in high school and that, and never got into RE until 7 came out. I'm not saying they shouldn't just focus on the newer games because the older games deserve some love too I just hope they don't just only focus on the old games
-
@Grimmy_Bluues said:
It should have been obvious from previous hints that it was going to be classic characters, but people were too busy riding the hype train. As cool as RE8 characters could be, it would be a huge middle finger to the people who've been with RE for all these years and that would be a loss in potential profit for Capcom and BHVR.
MCote literally said the anniversary will bring in some "Impressive Stars", as well as quoting Claire on the RE anniversary stream. The teaser we got also had a red Umbrella logo, which would be pointless if the chapter was from newer games.
Why not both the old and new, I never played RE until recently so it would only be fair if some of the newer games have something to say
Mostly its an aesthetic thing followed closely by fun. Oni and Spirit are two characters that I love the look of, Oni especially. Ghostface is good fun. I wanna feel the role of being an intimidating killer that unnerves the survivors.
That is something that will ever happen in this game, sadly. When you play the game so many times it kinda doesn't intimidate you anymore
Surely they won't pick that Mrs DePetrescu (sounds like a Romanian footballer) over the Mr X guy. She could pass for Tricksters wife I guess, about as scary as each other.
So, I know you said that you don't play Resident Evil. Therefore I'm gonna have to ask you to reserve judgement on characters from a game unless you've played it. Trust me, she's plenty scary in her own right, especially when she corners you because you took a wrong turn.
Or that time she shows up from out of nowehere and dices Ehtan's hand off. That's pretty scary too.
Maybe from appearences alone she doesn't look terrifying, but believe me she is. Especially in game, after she mutates.
Or if you're going from the standpoint that the Internet thirsted over her so she must not be scary, allow me to introduce you to the people that ship Leon and Mr. X. Unironically.
The only reason I think they ship those two characters is because their iconic and thats it.
Glad someone can enjoy these speculation topics. It'll probably get a lot of heated debates once the last 5 days roll around.
As for something for people to consider, I've actually got another Resident Evil killer idea that could actually work, and it's actually a relatively interesting idea that not many people, if anybody may have talked about.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/48A3JL1TSTWP/elisio.jpg
Elesio Mabou - The Bioweapon
Elesio Mabou, also known as Morio, is a bioweapon introduced in the tie-in manga BIOHAZARD heavenly island, where it pursues Takeru Tominaga and Yuki Mayu on Sonido de Tortuga Island.
While I'm not perfectly certain how his story completely goes (as I can only use articles on the wiki), considering his overall appearance, it's hard to deny that he would possibly have the ability to utilize his harpoon, as well as possibly the anchor on his back, in some way, shape or fashion. He could potentially throw the harpoon spear towards a survivor to damage them from a short range, or even pin them into the ground or a wall from long range, which could allow him to follow up with an attack via the anchor or grab on the survivor if they do not escape in time.
If anybody here has actually read the BIOHAZARD heavenly island manga and would like to shed some light about this character, that'd be much appreciated so a better concept for a killer could be made with Elesio in mind.
But from a design perspective, Elesio would make for a very cool killer design, if not as THE Resident Evil killer, possibly as an alternate skin for whoever the Killer is (granted they are male) or even a Legendary skin for Wraith, who would have a similar style and aesthetic to Morio.
An interesting Killer in appearance, but still very unlikely to be the Killer due to the lack of knowledge of this character.
Wait what in the hell is that! Thats in the manga, how the ######### did that not make it to the games!?
