  • Let's not forget the attempt to address the issues being delayed/held back/whatever due to massive backlash, which then leads to worse changes, and that's not helping matters either. So the community is as much to blame as BHVR…

Because they don’t feel responsible for other person, again. And their only excuse “I didn't know”

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/HUXPKPRNIJUQ/img-2752.jpeg

You can’t fix people in this term. And nuh, I don't think we deserve free kindred or bond that works all the time because of this, cause this mode is already pretty braindead.

The "don't feel responsible" thing is just an assumption. There's no evidence to support that.

  • @tes said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4028367#Comment_4028367

I can, because I played 2vs8 and saw how usually only 3 people stick to gens while other traversing around the map. Which again, giving them perfect opportunity to rescue people in cages

And because me personally never had issues with uncaging, because I took this role on myself. Again - nothing prevent person for rescuing. “Other gonna do it so I must have free aura read” — just an excuse

And why do they think other people will do it?

  • @tes said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4028361#Comment_4028361

I barely see all others 7 on gens, majority just running around and doing nothing, so yeah, I don't believe it’s something complicated go for the save in 2 vs8. Saying the issue is not in people for me a refusal to accept a fundamental issue in this game where people don't feel responsible for team.

Like this lucky argument. Can I say u just were unlucky with lobbies then to fully neglect what u are saying?

The teammates are on gens most of the time, or being chased, healing, etc., so it's not like they're doing nothing. So you can't say they're just being irresponsible.

  • @tes said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4028307#Comment_4028307

I still waiting for some proofs that issue is in info, and not people being selfish in this game as always

Funny paradox, I played 2 vs 8 myself and always rescued, because know people not doing this. Only once people let me go to second. Clearly, the issue is in people in lobbies who simply refuse to be more responsible, I don't want to indulge their irresponsibility with an obvious free base kit every time. They must learn to play.

Cool, you got lucky, assuming correctly that no one else was going for the save. Every time I see someone go to second, it's because people don't know that no one else is going for the save, or they're not able to reach the person in time (which happens a lot in RPD).

I mean, that's the game. It's not designed around players being able to know everything their teammate is doing.

Then why do perks like Bond, Kindred, Aftercare, etc. exist?

  • @tes said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4028249#Comment_4028249

So… you just tell survs being 8 people around whole match suddenly deserve to have base kit info for everything because a concept of shared teamwork and map scouting is too hard for fellow players…

    Got this, ok

I’ll repeat: u already have enough and even more to play as survivor in 2vs8. Nothing prevent people for rescuing others. They don't deserve sudden free info out of nothing even more just because someone too irresponsible for rescue. This players should learn go for saves and nothing about game mechanics here. If two people on gen others 5 have to go and rescue, instead of crying over that BHVR didn't handheld them even more by free map vision over anything by default. It's the massive skill issue if you can’t rescue surv in 2vs8 or info classes already have not enough. Turn on mental gymnastic and actually play the game

Don't assume I don't know how to play the game, again, get off your high horse. I do my best with the info I have, but people are still going to second phase frequently because the info doesn't show who's going for the save (or not). That is not just perspective, that is fact.

So do. Not. Talk. Down. To. Me.

  • @vol4r said:

The truth is that good swf won't even let you tunnel. This was match against me few days ago.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/1A4CZ54KOD0C/image.png

Those teams that let you tunnel someone are just solo queue players.
Those people are going to turn off the game after you tunnel them - that's why I don't do that.
I can just take the L, it doesn't matter to me.

The good swfs are probably tired of all the tunneling, so they run those builds…

What the lack of info? U already have HUD with who do gens, who heal, who open chests, who do damn totems or open gates. You have unlimited range aura for people in cages and u see when they are getting rescued instantly. U see when your teammate getting down, u see where killers can be, with who they are in chase. U seriously believe players lack of mental gymnastic to do simple 1+1 to go and rescue if they do nothing while other people on gens? For gen locations you have a whole guide class. For pallets you have scout and escapist. For aura of teammates you have medic. You literally have everything already. It just sounds … ridiculous that in such event survivors have already been given EVERYTHING, but from the perspective of some this is not enough still. It’s just showing you can give a lot and it won’t be enough…

Because someone just refuse to rake responsibility for teammate and expect game provide everything on ready served plate. Wow. God thanks I stopped playing this event if this is people I’m playing with, because for sure they barely able to do anything when expect game being played by itself.

For such people I just can advise to crab appetite, honestly, and try using the HUD you've already been given to exercise. This event is already as simplified as possible.

"What lack of info?" Okay, the hud shows someone doing a chest or totem, which only takes, what, ten seconds? But where are they? Are they going for the rescue when they finish? That's the lack of info I'm referring to. Someone has no action indicated on their hud. Are they ratting or running across the map for the save. The hud does not provide that info. Neither do any of the class perks you mentioned, except Medic, but only if that Survivor is injured. I also know that not everyone can play Medic, since the game limits the lobby to four people of the same class. And I just love running across the map for a save, only to see that someone beat me to it. So I'd have to turn around and run all the way back to the gen I was working on. Imagine how much progress I could have made if I hadn't wasted my time going for a rescue that I didn't have to do. So your claim that we "literally have everything" is false.

So you can get off your high horse now.

U can give them the info of whole world, the best advantage from it will take people who understand responsibility upon the team.

2 vs 8 has extremely busted powers for survivors, with Insta heal in chase, sprint thanks to button, constant aura read. Majority of killer roaster are weak because didn't get compensatory buff while dealing with safest pallets possible and huge maps.

Why people keep dying? Answer is simple. “The other dude gonna rescue my teammate”. “The other dude gonna do that gen”. It's not about some info people need. It's mindset issue u ain't able to fix because 2 vs 8 doesn't have SBMM.

My surv escape rate there went to almost 80% and I quit this mode. I don't like this chaos and absurd. People who enjoy this are fine with everything, but u ain't able to fix the core issue of survivors dying there because it's in themselves. More I play survivor, more I disappointed in people who chose this role, and I don't find any solutions beside proper SBMM

2 vs 8 has extremely busted powers for survivors, with Insta heal in chase, sprint thanks to button, constant aura read. Majority of killer roaster are weak because didn't get compensatory buff while dealing with safest pallets possible and huge maps.

How is this relevant to the issue being discussed?

The answer is simple: Lack of info. You don't think that, if people could see that no one else is going for the save, that they would take the responsibility and go for it? This is why I run Kindred in my 1v4 games, so I know when I need to go for save, instead of just assuming that someone else is going for it and risk being incorrect in my assumption.

  • @tes said:

Survivors see each other cage aura without any map limits. Survivors just don't rescue

Likely because they figure someone else is closer and will get the save. You may see things on the HUD like which Survivors are doing gens, but do you know where they're doing the gen? Could they be closer to the cage and will get off any second to go for the rescue? That is information we need that the HUD doesn't provide. Idk about map wide bond, but I would recommend a weaker Kindred (like only showing Survivors within 32m of the caged Survivor or something like that). That'll give us enough information to decide if we need to rush to the rescue. It would also help mitigate the scenarios where a Killer may be camping and the cage gets moved. It would tell us to stay spread out so that hopefully the cage will spawn close to someone else.

RPD is the absolute worst map for these scenarios. There are limited tight paths to get from one side of the map to the other, and if the Killer cuts them off midway, they're screwed out of reaching the caged Survivor in time.

The findings from the 2 bot inclusion was that it only saved queue times 1-2 min, which is why they removed them. Alot of survivors didnt want to play with them. They kept stealing all the herbs too as they knew exactly when and where they would spawn. I honestly cant recall a 2v8 that had low killer queue times.

I do remember the bots stealing the herbs, that was pretty annoying. It's kind of a shame we'll never see those herbs again…

Emotionally charged demonization aside, you stated: There shouldn't be any reason to slug a person that many times, and if they do, that's just excessive. Which I pointed out was untrue, down to the crux of how specific killers' kits even function, as well as perks that can cause these scenarios when functioning as intended. This goes beyond extreme cases and borderlines well within normal play, and not just a fringe situation that does nothing but loses matches. You could up the number from 3 to 8 and still prevent this supposed eldritch horror who plays the killer role from your situation. You could see things from the perspective of your opponent but if you'd rather devolve them to everything you hate, have at it I guess.

Oh, I see things from the opponent's perspective too. I've been bled out by killers because the teammates kept sweating their tails off to prevent them from hooking me. Yes, it was annoying af, but I understand why they did it.

Is that the one where they added two Survivor Bots by default?

  • I don't think the Killer queues will ever change until they get rid of 1v4, but I don't see that flying either...

Aside from the obvious answer of killers whose power relies on slugging (like oni, but especially twins) they also made it easier to avoid the killer's attention when returning to a slug with the changes to picking yourself up and the crawling speed. And thats not even talking about perks like Conviction or Tenacity that allow for even more relocation.

As for the last part, how far do we need to move the goal post? You're supposed to try because you're still playing the game. I don't see that as any different than killers who have to wait for survivors to leave at the exit gates, which gets argued against since it would end the game prematurely (regardless of how much or little) due to the killer not being replaced by a bot. You answered your own question both with the fact that hatch is still possible, and also that a gate escape is also still possible. If you want out that bad as the last survivor with less chance than you're willing to participate in, just run into the killer and accept the mori you won't have to even watch because you'll be allowed to abandon before it goes off. Think of it like the survivor equivalent of "hitting them out" but with a lot less downtime and BM.

I believe they do it more for the Killers who just slug for whatever twisted sadistic pleasure they get from it. The ones who just leave Survivors on the ground, not even trying to hook anyone, expecting teammates to repeatedly pick them up. I refer to those as "bleed out matches," since it's clear that the Killer's objective is to bleed everyone out, and that's the most boring and annoying thing to face. Even with the abandon option, I may still opt to just eat the DC penalty, because I refuse to participate in those matches.

  • It makes sense. There shouldn't be any reason to slug a person that many times, and if they do, that's just excessive.

And abandoning if you're the last Survivor alive makes sense as well. You can try to go for hatch, but if the Killer gets it first, you know you only have like a 4% chance of getting out through the gate. Why even try at that point with those odds?

  • I would have thought the "play while you wait" feature would incentivize more people to play Survivor while they're waiting for their Killer games, and thus (maybe slightly?) reduce the Killer queue time. Is that not the case?

  • @JohnNemesisMan said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4026468#Comment_4026468

Honestly, I don't think that would be the case. Most matches are either a stomp for the killers or a stomp for the survivors in 2v8, very rarely a half result like 4k happens with the current 8 gen amount.

So if Killers are already stomping in some matches, slowing down the gens would make even more matches where Killer stomps. That wouldn't be good for the mode at all…

  • I've been under the impression that people can downvote because they don't like the statement, even though they do agree or realize that it's true.

Like if someone says BHVR favors a certain role? I might downvote it, not because I disagree, but because I realize it's true and I hate it…

But there can be a million reasons to downvote something, but we'll never know what the reason is for every downvote…

  • Those streamers certainly can continue their winstreaks if these changes go through. It'll just be more challenging, and it would be much more impressive for their fans if they can pull it off.

But if they really understand this, why aren't they doing anything about the current gameplay?

It's not normal when absolutely any noob on the killer side, with no gaming experience whatsoever, gets undeserved kills and murders, destroying the basic gameplay of the survivors.

Right? I don't know what can be done at this point. Everything they try to do falls apart in some fashion. Or anything that does work gets complained about, and then it gets reverted.

  • I wouldn't mind playing against Killer bots either, but I can see why BHVR would be hesitant to add them. If they put Killer bots in custom matches, no Survivors would ever want to play in public matches ever again. I'm not sure if I would...

  • Yeah, let the Killer get auto-DC'd when they have insane ping like that (or any player, really) rather than letting us abandon. Let them suffer the DC penalty for it.

Your quote has more emotional nonsense than mine so are you calm? Its logical you would get more hatch when mori isnt free and the game isnt more sweaty but that someone like you should get kinda. Fatc ism that outcry because killers dont give hatch is hilarious, some things arent freely given but have to be earned and hatch is one thing and all it depends on killers personality and feelings from the match.

Best way to get it if you know you wont is surrender by droping your item some will take it and give it you. There are killers that will carry you to hatch and mori you on top of it for their amusement its just about that one particular person and his emotions nothing else and most important its no thing you have to get.

Yeah, I'm calm, I was just giving you a taste of your own medicine by making my comment as difficult to read as yours was.

  • Makes sense to me, too. Just this morning, I had a teammate DC as soon as the match loaded, before we even knew who the Killer was. And then the Killer just stood by the exit gate and opened it as soon as we cranked out the gens.

  • @Abbzy said:

Now the game has less mercy for killer, before when i didnt get single kill someone gave it to me but now everyone is tbaging in gates so that mercy option has passed its just killers choice same as you giving him your item because you dont have to but you do it as sing of respect (its something different when you are last and want hatch its better to drop that item because its not only for respect but as sing of surrender and many will give you hatch form old school killers because before this was used more but now everyone is so greedy even the fact items are easier to unlock with addons with getting p100 and bloodwebs are way cheaper).

Calm down, again no one said the killer owed anyone hatch we were just saying that they used to give hatch more often before the finisher mori was released we know they're not entitled to give hatch before or after the finisher mori it's always appreciated but never expected killers can do whatever they want give hatch or go for 4k we understand either way so you don't have to give us run on sentences with no punctuation wow did you even understand what I said?

  • @Mr_K said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4022164#Comment_4022164

Gifting hatch is a sign of mercy or respect. Maybe killers ran out of mercy or had one too many lights in their face to feel any respect towards survivors.

For me, I'm not giving hatch unless I think your team was dog water and you personally got screwed over by their actions. How you played during the match will only grant you a quick hook or a mori animation, not hatch.

You and the killer are owe nothing. Not a hook and not the hatch. If a killer doesn't give hatch, that's because they are playing the game.

I'm pretty sure no one said Killers owed anyone hatch. They're just saying that Killers used to give hatch more often, for whatever reason they chose. It was never expected of them.

Can the mods start enforcing a rule of "don't make a new thread on a topic there's already a thread for, unless your thread adds significant commentary the existing threads don't have and that commentary goes outside of the scope of the initial thread" or something like that?

Not as like a bannable offense or anything, I mean more like how PTB feedback is rolled into a megathread, and when a bunch of people make threads giving their feedback they get merged to the main thread.

I ask because I'm tired of seeing the entire forum filled [figuratively] with posts complaining about killer players not feeling heard (incidentally one PTB after an entire survivor-favoring set of changes got canceled, but i digress) in posts that very easily could have been replies to the one thread about it that got big a couple days ago.

I like that idea. I don't know why we're suddenly seeing five million threads about how the uninstall survey doesn't have "killer-sided" answers. 😕

fair enough and i say the same to any survivor that offers to help me out by suggesting i change something that works…. try winning your matches without looping, i say this to help them out, so they can learn more than just 1 way to play, so they can learn to counter tunneling. its not deflecting its using your own logic. And once again, you bypass that flaw in your own logic by claiming "whataboutism" without actually addressing it.

Looping is in no way comparable to tunneling, and simply cannot be avoided the way tunneling can.

If you wanted to offer suggestions of "using our own logic," you could say, "try winning without exhaustion perks or second-chance perks," etc.

Which I do. Meaning, I don't run exhaustion perks or second-chance perks, or Windows of Opportunity. And I win some and I lose some. That's how the game should be.

Maybe I didn't make myself clear enough in the other comments and people keep clinging to carrot like rabbits, having their own view on it. My english is far from perfect, but I will try.

I do not think individual killer buffs, any perks or base-kit band-aids will ever change fundamental flaws in core game mechanics. Only actual changes to core game loop can actually fix issues. If devs want killers to hook different survivors then it has to be the goal, this goal should be rewarded, not with some BPs and a bit of bloodlust, it should be game-changing incentives. You as a player should want to play this way, not restricted to.

None of other changes will matter long-term. People complain about tunneling from the beginning and they will complain after next patch, and other patch and after another year.

What kind of incentives would be "game changing" enough to get people to spread out hooks?

The survey had survivor-sided results because the survey was rigged to be survivor-sided.

If the killer-sided options were directly in the survey, then the results could have showed that both sides of the game were having issues, and both sides need to be addressed.

And that’s the real actual reason why a lot of people are against the surveys being fair for both sides of the game. If the surveys were actually fair for both sides of the game, then it might result in less time spent making survivor-sided changes to the game, and more time fixing issues on both sides of the game.

BHVR has been bending over backwards for Killers, so if you're correct about the survey being "rigged" or "Survivor-sided", this is exactly why.

  • Healing is important. I can't count the number of matches we've lost because a teammate refused to heal after their first hook, so they got their second hook early and then inevitably died, which screwed over the rest of us.

Which of the following contributed the most to you uninstalling Dead By Daylight?

    1. Generator speeds are too fast
    2. playing against a SWF is unfun
    3. Hook denial (i.e. pallet saves, flashlight saves, hook sabotages) are unfun
    4. Certain survivor perks are unfun
    5. Certain survivor items or addons are unfun
    6. Other (Please specify)

Does that mean you think the above survey is fair, because it's not asking why killer players uninstalled, and instead it's irrespective of role? And if you are a survivor player, you could just tell them why you uninstalled?

That's what the Other (Please Specify) option is for. You could've listed all your Killer grievances there.

But then we all know what would have happened; all those things would have been addressed, while none of the Survivor grievances would be addressed, if the recent and upcoming changes are anything to go by…

Killer. My survivor stats are probably accurate as I don't DC or abandon, and I'd like to keep them that way. With killer, it'll be other people's choices potentially altering my numbers, not mine.

How often do your teammates abandon when you play Survivor? Because from my understanding, any match with anyone abandoning is thrown out, so your Survivor stats might be thrown off from the official tracker, too.

  • I hate the "high MMR" argument as well, because no one knows their own MMR, let alone anyone else's. So why even bother bringing the topic of MMR into any discussion?

  • Killers get notified when someone goes into the void, which is not that big of an area. Outside the void, he probably did see you with BBQ…

  • Truer words have never been spoken. But that's just how humans are, not just in DBD, but in other games, and even real life, too. I don't think there's any fix for that, at least not by any human ability.

  • Look even at the QUESTIONS on the survey when they adressed slugging a while back asking how players felt about it.

There were no questions about how anyone felt about slugging in that survey. Those questions were about how we define slugging. That's it.

Assuming you can make distance before the Killer is on your bumper again while you leave trails of blood. That almost never happens.

And oh yeah, even if I stopped looping, you wouldn't stop tunneling.

as long as your double standards stand then yes lol. works both ways. yet you still havnt explained how its not normal to tunnel but its perfectly normal and ok to loop when both things happen frequently. you dismiss it regarding it as "what if" but you have no valid reasoning when its flipped the other way round

If we're not supposed to loop, then what are we supposed to do, especially when you tunnel? 😕

it really is running in a circle, i do it often enough to know how easy it is to see a pallet and see a potential loop location where i go in a circle and force the killer to drop pallet, then move to another pallet.

Playing SWF doesnt make you a good player, your right, but it can increase your chances of escape. thats my point.

i can be an awful looper, no idea what im doing but if i have a team making call outs so i can pre run, know where the hex totems are, know where my team is leading the chase so i can do gens on the opposite side of the map, know which of my team mates are going for the save and whos staying on gens, know what perks my team mates have, these things make a huge difference and increase my escape chances if im a bad player.

you point of taking a loss instead of tunneling would make sense if the killers were complaining about the super difficulty of the matches they are getting. But killers are not complaining, they are simply tunneling and its the survivors that complain about it. im fine having sweaty matches where i need to tunnel to win…i just tunnel, its not a problem. why would killers want to stop tunneling, take the loss and remain in a lower MMR if they dont have an issue with tunneling? It seems its survivors that have the issue with tunneling killers which they will get more and more in high MMR. so maybe they are the ones that should stop using SWF to raise MMR? stay in a lower bracket so they get less tunnelers? or maybe not use meta perks and loop early on so they dont raise MMR and feel the need to use these perks and loop in high MMR?

Fact is, its the survivors that have the biggest issue with tunneling, so i dont think the view of killers should cop the loss applies but it does apply to survivors that have the issue.

Yeah, this logic just does not follow. "Killers aren't complaining about the high difficulty matches." Oh yes, they are! They swear that tunneling is the only way to win those matches, which means they don't belong in that MMR bracket, because they don't have the skill to match it.

And why did the Killers complain about the tunneling and slugging reduction from the last PTB? Because it would inevitably lead to more losses. And they were right, it would have. But then they could have learned to improve their actual skill and spread pressure and keep all Survivors scrambling instead of leaving three to bust out gens while the one poor sod gets tunneled out. But instead of adapting, they complained, and the system got pulled. Meanwhile, I hear that even more nerfs for Survivors are on the way, such as pallet density and medkit add-ons.

Makes me wonder why people keep asking how much more hand-holding Survivors need when it's obviously the Killers who are getting their hands held, if these recent and upcoming changes are anything to go by.

so in matches where you run the killer all match, are you not having fun even if you died at the end? i mean your being chased….thats the fun part of survivor right?

"fun" is subjective, i have fun countering it my way and i wouldnt say its that difficult. im not sweating as survivor and still im countering it. its difficult to understand what some people actually want in the survivor role, they want chases but dont want to be tunneled, they want team play but dont want comms, they want to escape but dont want to touch a gen.

Being chased can be fun sometimes, but I don't want to be chased all damn game.  It's exhausting.  I certainly wouldn't mind comms, but I can see the problems with it.  Not only is there potential toxicity, but there's also language barriers.  Not everyone who plays DBD speaks English.

I don't get the thing about not touching gens either.  It's part of the reason I prefer being on gens than being chased.  At least I know I will do them.

as a tunneling killer myself i can honestly say without tunneling there is no way i could win with certain killers.

Why is it incredibly easy to do? survivors make it easy. (specifically solo players) they unhook too soon often right next to the killer, they dont do gens, the try to play too altruistic, they let themselves be seen, chased and tunneled, they hook heal or dont heal at all, they cant loop and go down in seconds. Again, as killer im not getting 100% kill rate with tunneling, far from it, which means people are countering it.

im soloq and i dont have any coordination with my team or huge amounts of skill and i counter it just fine. i have a multitude of examples but last night bubba DC'ed because they couldnt catch me. tonight a clown and pyramid head DC'ed because they couldnt catch me and other survivor.

Sure, tunneling can be countered.  That's why I said it's very difficult to counter, not impossible.  But countering it doesn't make it fun to go against.  Even in the matches where I managed to run the Killer all game while being tunneled, I still died at the end, even if all my teammates escaped as a result.  I can count a grand total of one (1) match I have escaped after being tunneled, and that was only because the teammates took hits for me after my second hook, and I guess they angered him enough to get him off me.  But I was still miserable in that match, and I wanted out.
