There's always going to be someone who'll complain about something you did.

I only say it as buff when it comes to one killer and that is Sadako...since they added the aura for lullabies it has completely taken away the stealth part from her kit. The other night I was playing her for the first time since they added the visual terror radius and could clearly tell it has affected her a great deal. Before I could sneak up on ppl easily and get a surprise attack but now I can't at all no matter how hard I try. Every time I got close to a gen, while trying to keep out of the line of sights, the survivors were already running away.
Overall no I don't think visual terror radius is a major buff but I do think they should remove Sadako's lullaby completely and allow her to be a stealth killer like wraith.
Actually it also works against Dredge. I played against one last night with the visual heartbeat turned on and saw the heart during his nightfall.
-
It's not really that big a buff. There's a few edge cases like some killer's TR at the edges that can be hard to hear where the visual heartbeat provides a slight advantage. But you have the same information available to you that you already had access to.
-
Healing each other wasn't touched and survivors have many different perk options for healing perks. Sloppy does not need to be nerfed when nerfing self healing was the point.
Also I played a few games last night and didn't even encounter sloppy so it seems like a massive overreaction

It doesn't bother me. I simply asked how is that a good game. To me its very simple question, but by refusing to answer it you create an enviorment where it seems like I do.
Idk who you think you are fooling here. If it didn't bother you, there would be no need for this topic. If you don't want to say GG for whatever reason, then don't. No one is forcing you to interact with the end game chat.

No it doesnt, it might adress some other topic tho. I wouldnt know. You just described what I already said 3 times. My question was how is that a good game, you didnt give an answer to that one.
Lets say there is a game 0 hooks, gen rushed, I say GG how is it a good game? Its not. You are trying to dodge my question so hard literally end up wasting time.
It's a GG, because it was a GG. Tunneling someone out does not make the game less of a GG.
You don't have to interact with chat if things like people saying GG are going to bother you to this extent.

I mean this conversation is pretty pointless if you dont adress the topic. Water makes things wet is a neat thing to know but you didnt ask for it nor does it make sense to mention it here.
I did address the topic. The game doesn't stop being a GG just because someone got tunneled out it. It's simply a part of the game. If people saying GG is going to bother you so much, just hide the chat and move on.
-

Where did I say that something wrong occured in that game? My point is its objectively not a good game. Nothing happened besides people getting tunneled out of the game. Period.
What I could have done to make this game even more boring is hide so nobody has fun for 4 minutes.
Part of playing survivor is that you will die some games. It's not a big deal.

Yeah I might have been in the feedback section when I made the post.
Ok, counter argument would you want to play as a killer and this is the match you are going to recreate every time. Hook, go out wait for the unhook, go for unhooker, until the match ends. If the answer is no what are you trying to explain to me while the question is how is this good game.
I'm trying to explain to you that nothing that occurred is wrong. Defending the hook and choosing to go after the unhooker are both valid tactics killers can chose to play. Killers select the hook for the reason that they can pick a spot that is easy to pressure.
Being hooked in a dead zone is not meant to be safe for you.
-
Ultimately, it doesn't matter what you do as killer. Some survivors will attack you for killing them, because they've firmly believed that the game should end with them escaping.
-
Besides the fact this topic is in the wrong subforum,
"How do people think that the match was "GG" if all they did was gens and leave?"
The killer's goal is to kill survivors. The killer found an opportunity for a kill by taking advantage of a dead zone and took it. Survivors don't just walk pass gens 90% completed, because it would be fairer to the killer to work on the gen with the lowest progress.
-
People often complain that their opponents are playing in a way that isn't fun for them to face but the ultimate reality of pvp games is that you are bound to face people using stuff you don't find fun to play against because it isn't your opponents job to make sure you have a fun game.
-
Survivors have many perks that help them heal each other faster. You are simply going to need to work more as a team if you want to stay healthy.
-
Because med-kits when self-healing do so at ~67% effectiveness. Which means that instead of needing 16 charges, you need 24 charges for a full self-heal.
-
Deep Wounds is a health state between Injured and Dying,.
Mending puts you back to Injured state.
Not Mending puts you into dying state.
Endurance effects all put you into the 3rd health state of Deep Wounds.
-
The killer has no TR when undetectable so there would be no heart on your screen showing you are in the TR.
When killers like the pig aren't undetectable, the heart TR will show.
-
Survivors don't need a compensation buff for the self healing nerfs. Survivors already have plently of tools to improve healing and healing others is untouched. Take advantage of those if sloppy is such an issue.
-
This last patch existed to nuke the strongest things on both sides. Gen regression is a lot weaker and Survivors have a lot less safety being injured without teamwork.
-
I think some of the listed perks are actually fine. Even though they are weak, they serve a niche.
Like you fundamentally can't make Left Behind a good perk, because it's sole niche is finding the hatch in the 1v1 situation.
Kind of the same thing with Deerstalker since that perk exists solely to help find slugs and it's hard to really buff that aspect of it.
-
There's no way to discern "legit disconnections" with rage quits. If you are having constant internet issues building up a massive penalty, that's an issue you need to resolve yourself.
I would even say that the D/C penalty is often far too lenient as the first d/c is only a minute long and the timeout refresh occurs often enough that you can d/c once a day and not really feel any punishment for it.
-
You really want to take a relatively weak killer and make them terrible.
-
The whole point of the hud was so that playing with comms isn't an inherit advantage. All this would do is make playing on comms a bigger advantage than it is now.

Well survivor gets "QoL" changes/biffs because bad players are worse than good players in teams and using comms. Cant wait for "not enough" to kick in and sirvivors getting a radar or aura reading because good players are emulating it with (non ingame) comms.
On the killer side, outliers are instantly deemed to be nerfed instead of target of balance.
Swf + comms performs above whazs possible with ingame tools: community declares "all survivors should be that lebel".
Community choosrs a top killer of the month and rallies to nerf them down, then look for the next, repeat.
Nothing is stopping the devs to just try to buff the weaker killers up. Afterall its been stated they got leeway for buffs as "nurse and blight are performing sooo muuuuch beeeetttterrrrrr".
The HUD changes were added so solos weren't at a full disadvantage than people playing together on comms. Being on comms is still stronger, but not as much so.
A killer has yet to be nerfed over a single player being too good at them.

Lol works for me, guess you're right. Not like half the posts since I've joined have been about killers being overpowered and their behavior ruining games or anything. The game in it's current form will slowly die. Sad.
The game will die just like the last time people were complaining that killers were too strong. And the previous time before that. And the previous time before that one.

So answer the original question then. Is this blight with 1k wins a problem? If so, how is it any different than Hens and his survivor team? If you think this blight is a problem, then those survivor teams must also be a problem right? If not, you are biased.
Good players are not an issue that must be fixed with balance changes. No one should be making balance changes based on outliers.

@Reinami said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3411578#Comment_3411578
Ok, lets imagine a hypothetical scenario.
There is a killer offering in the game that does the following:
- Every survivor is permanently exposed
- Permanently reveal the aura of all survivors
- All survivors can be mori'd immediately without hooks.
- The killer moves at 200% movement speed.
- Survivor repair speed is reduced by 50% (gens take twice as long)
- This offering has a 0.01% chance to appear in the bloodweb.
Now, would this offering be fair? Should it be removed/changed? Or should they leave it as is? It would be super rare, you'd see it one out of every thousand games or so.
Facing players who are better than you is simply part of the experience of a pvp game. It's not a big deal and making that kind of comparsion just feels like you only want to face weaker players.
-
@Reinami said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3411528#Comment_3411528
But when those 0.01% of players play with us regulars, it isn't fair, because the game is balanced in a way that is unfair. If this is the case then these people should not be allowed to play in regular queue without these same restrictions they place on tournaments.
Additionally, nobody has commented on what i said. Which is, why can't we nerf the insanely ridiculous god loops that can spawn on certain maps? Low level survivors aren't using those loops at the level that high level survivors can, so nerfing those loops won't hurt them, because they cant use the loops that way anyway. All it does is hurt the high level survivors. Can we at least agree on that?
You'll eventually get a game against one of those players, but most of your games are not against them.
-
The killer's objective is to kill survivors.
-
The problem with adding hard counters to tunneling and camping is there's not a hard counter to gens for the killer side.
If killers could reset completed gens to help buy additional time to go around to spread out hooks, then these changes could be fine. But I doubt you'll see many survivors want a game where the killer can keep resetting completed gens.
-
If there's 2 survivors left with 4 gens remaining, the survivor team messed up. Giving them increased repair speed wouldn't solve anything. All this would do is make the overall killer experience worse as you are just adding a punishment to the killer completing their objective.

We are talking about killer winrate of 1000 wins, 0 loses. So actually his winrate right now would 100%, if counted for all his games I wouldnt doubt it being like 99,99% killrate. Blight is a disgusting killer, extremely overpowered, should be nerfed to the ground
Again you are too busy looking at the individual player and not the whole picture. BHVR isn't balancing the game so that every killer individually will end up with a 60% kill rate. Doing that would mean there is no skill involvement as regardless of how good or how bad you play, you will kill 2-3 survivors every game no matter what you did.
It does not matter that the blight player has went on a 1000 win rate as he's an outlier to the average.
-
@Piruluk said:
Also did you know that devs aiming for 60% killrate?
It'll be a 60% winrate if the player in question lose the next 666 matches in a row....
First, it's 60% win rate for all players on average. There are going to be individual players with 80-90% kill rates and players with 10-20% kill rates, because they are outliers to the average.
-
@Piruluk said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3411137#Comment_3411137
Do you think its balanced that a player can win 1000+ games in a row at the highest level?
Why cant we see 1000+ win streak SWF? Hell I cant even see 100+ win in a row for survivors (at least 3 people escape)
Is the Blight player the only person playing blight or the only killer playing? No. We should not decide balance over what a single highly skilled person is able to accomplish.
-
@Brokenbones said:
Personally I don't understand why people even care
My reaction essentially boiled down to, huh that's quite an accomplishment. Neat. Then I moved on
I don't get why content creators care, I don't get why the twitter mob cares. This does not affect you at all, you can still just play the game and ignore it.
I get that some people have taken this as a sign that 'oh blight is too strong, his addons are too strong' or 'no tunnelling and camping is too strong' like even if any of those are true, so what? BHVR has clearly shown they make changes to whatever they like whenever they feel like so crying about some dude winning a bunch of matches in a row isn't going to change that
From what I understand, some people just don't like that someone can win that many games, because for some arbitrary reason they've decided that anyone playing dbd should lose X amount of games out of every Y games.
-
You do know that Ghostface can partially stalk you. It's completely possible he had already stalked you to halfway earlier in the game.
-
@Lanz said:
I think it's fine as it is.
Female survivors when injured are smaller but louder. Whereas it's the opposite for injured male survivors who are quieter but taller.
Balance I guess ? Make your choice.
Ace is one of the quietest survivors and he's a male. Some female survivors are also pretty loud.
IMO, it's better for the game as a whole if injured sounds were the same.
-
@Veritere said:
As long as killers have the mentality that only kills count as a victory, this will never change.
Only with extreme measures like giving invincibility to unhooked survivors (which would be abused by swf's so it would never happen) would tunneling disappear.
You can say all you want and give other options like not giving bp for tunneling but that wouldn't stop it. It might stop a few but it won't stop everyone.
Others say to decrease gen speed. That would make soloq even more unbearable than what already is.
Honestly, it's not an easy problem to solve
The devs have literally stated that kills are the victory condition when they implemented MMR. You can't get mad at killers for trying to win based on the only win condition given to them.

EXACTLY, 35-40% escape rate around ALL games
In this case, we have some one who played ONE. THOUSAND. GAMES. and not a SINGLE Survivor escaped.
The blight player is not the only killer in the game. You are trying to balance an entire game around a single player.
The 35-40% escape rate is going to have outliers like this blight player on both sides. Those who constantly get 4Ks and those who struggle to even get a 1K.
-
@Shroompy said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3409999#Comment_3409999
I don't know what number, but for a game like this where the balance is meant to be roughly 40-35% of Survivors escaping and in this case not a single one does, that without a doubt says there is something wrong.
Now it doesn't mean that there is 1 definitive answer to it, there is likely several factors that lead to this person getting that high of a winstreak.
The devs aren't balancing 35-40% escape rate around a single player, they are balancing around the average of all games. The people this blight faced in his games don't only play against him meaning they still have games where they escape.
Some people are going to escape more than others. Some people will escape less than others.
Some people will kill all 4 survivors more than others. Some people will kill 0 survivors more than others.
-
@Shroompy said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3409993#Comment_3409993
That's not at all what I'm asking for
But in this context, 1000 wins ain't right
It is what you are asking. Why should someone is good enough at the game to get 1000 wins in a row have to lose a game? Would you feel better if he had a loss every 10 games, every 50, every 100, every 500? How many games should you be able to win a row, before it becomes unacceptable?
-
@Shroompy said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3409975#Comment_3409975
I dont care what game it is, I dont care how good that person is
NO ONE should be winning 1000 games in a row
So basically you want a game where skill doesn't matter.
-
@pseudechis said:
It hasn't declined that much if you look at the numbers.
The average player count is pretty stable and still higher than pre-pandemic years which have unnaturally inflated the figures of most games over a 3 year period.
So yeah while there is a slight downward trend the player averages are still pretty consistent and the trend lines match the general spike in Apr/May after chapter release followed by slow decline till next chapter release.
Its hardly indicative of a declining player base... yet.
People just love saying the game is dying every time steam chart numbers show any kind of decline.
-
I don't think Mind Control will ever happen as it's a pvp game. It's one of those mechanics that works better when using it against npcs rather than pcs.
-
@KateMain86 said:
Tunneling is bad for this game. No one likes being chased down right off the hook.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3409831#Comment_3409831
"Tunneling isn't frowned upon by the devs, its not an exploit and it doesn't break immersion."
Yea... it just makes people not want to play the game. If survivors do not have some kind of viable way to counter a tunneling killer then it remains a problem. If survivors had a way to not be seen by the killer for a few seconds after being unhooked then tunneling would probably not be an issue anymore.
People have been saying that tunneling is going to cause the game to die for years and yet here we are. If tunneling was really hurting the game's popularity, the devs would have made bigger changes than what we've gotten.
-
Based on previous anniversaries, I expect we'll see information on an upcoming license chapter and a roadmap for the upcoming year. Though I guess the devs could do the next chapter an original, but the last 2 years were both licenses.
-
Ultimately with how MMR works, there's bound to be a few very solid players (on both sides) who can obtain such massive win streaks.
There's the soft cap, meaning that no matter how high your mmr is over the soft cap you can still be matched with people around the soft cap and given the size of players who are in the extremes of mmr, you are more than likely facing people far below your own skill level than facing people at your skill level. It's basically the same problem as ranks, but for a very % of players.
Using a single player as a justification for a nerf just doesn't make any sense.
-
A couple things.
Mikaela could always been picked up with Iri Shards meaning she didn't cost any money to buy.
A perk being locked behind money has never stopped devs from nerfing it before if they were problematic. Mettle of Man and Decisive Strike has seen nerfs despite being on paid locked characters.
-
No. The update ways for a survivor to self heal. Buffing self-care would directly oppose the goal of the update.
-
The devs nerfing how easily survivors can heal themselves does not mean sloppy or gift of pain need to be nerfed. The idea was that before spreading out damage was not that effective and devs are trying to make it more effective.
