I know it's a killer main forum, but still I'm sure some of them want to feel skillfull more than they want to win, even if it's 20% of them.
Getting an early kill in the game is huge as a 3v1 is way easier to manage compared to a 4v1. In a 4v1 there will always be at least one survivor free to progress gens. In a 3v1 with fast downs and quick hooks, you can force the survivor team into a situation where they don't have time to work on gens.
You aren't suddenly more skilled for opting to make the harder on yourself by keeping the 4v1 alive. Just like you aren't less skilled for recognizing the best tactic to win and utilizing it.
It would be akin to saying survivors are bad if they complete gens, because if they were truly skilled they wouldn't need to work on gens.
-
This is Trickster's main thing he has going for him. I don't see a reason to remove the one aspect keeping him from being terrible.
-
This wouldn't change anything besides DS and DS doesn't really need this specific nerf. Since the survivor still has endurance up to the point of being hit so they would still take the hit then lose DS.
-
The best place to start is to nerf Iri Videotape down to 1-2 tv refresh and then buff her basekit cds for TVs this way she has better map pressure without needing an addon.
-
Tunneling and camping can be punished when survivors get punished for completing gens. Since it would only be fair to punish both sides for doing their objective.
-
It's really hard for BHVR to crack down on filters since it's something you can really detect and not something the devs can really control.
And I don't see filters being in a game as a valid reason why we should bring back another exploit that allowed people to get an unfair advantage.

I don't think increasing the penalty is the way to do it, since the current system has this allowance for people who disconnect for legitimate purposes like an emergency or power cut. Persistent disconnecting does result in much larger bans down the line.
However, I am all for a harsher punishment for continuous disconnectors and one thing which would be great is to force all serial disconnectors to play games only with other serial disconnectors. This may result in longer waits and more frustrating gameplay for them, which in turn may make them decide it's no longer worth it.
Won't stop the suiciders though. BHVR need to put something in place for those too, like remove the struggle aspect from the hook.
The first penalty is 1 minute. 15 minutes would still good enough for most emergencies. 1 minute is practically a free dc.

You do realize the graph starts right when the 6th Anniversary chapter was out which was also Wesker. Of course the game is going to look worse compared to one of the biggest chapters released.
The fact is if you compare the game's playerbase to the same period (before the anniversary chapter), the game has maintained a stable player base. We'll see a surge of players with the 7th anniversary chapter.

i just checked Steam charts. If you look at last year the player count has shown a steady line downwards. The average player count last year was 40K (exclusing the anniversary event which was 50K) down to on average 30K now (this month 29K)
April 2023: 30K
April 2022: 29K
May 2022: 32K (likely boosted by Chapter PTB at the end of the month)
Things really aren't that dire.

And you’re basing that off of? I hardly ever come across SoloQ teams. The wait times have increased. I keep bumping into the same players. And the unofficial numbers paint a different picture. Well known content creators are branching out. A lot of negative reviews recently. The game is doing anything but well.
Steam charts show a similar player count to last year. I doubt anything is drastically different on consoles as well.

Amen. And the game is already dying because of it. All my friends stopped playing in the past year. And I recently stopped playing as well after a long time having played the game. I am trying to finish the rift so I will load up for a match here and there. Did it today…3 consecutive games of hard tunneling. It is the most boring and unfun the game has been. It literally feels like you or your teammate is getting spawn killed (FPS reference). And if it is not you, you just sit on generators 🤮
The game is hardly dying. People have been claiming the game has been dying for years and it's still around with a healthy playerbase.

Page has been updated, I do not have a fix date yet, it's likely to be with the next release.
The map is not fully kill switched as it will still be playable in Custom Games, but it will not show in Live rotation neither can the offering be used to take people there.
Is the offering not killswitched as well?
-
It's good they finally killswitched it, but this issue was known about last week so weird they took so long to act on it.
-
Lightburn is a bad mechanic, because it's existence punished survivors for not bringing a flashlight against a handful of killers with a rooster so big. If Wraith is too strong without lightburn existing, then he should be balanced around it not existing. But I don't particularly think Wraith is a problem that needs to be addressed.
As for killer instinct, it's only on a few killer powers. Killers do not have perks to give them Killer Instinct and it should remain both tied to killer powers and unblockable tracking ability.

So now it is pure luck and no skill.
If you think you are solely losing every game due to the perks the opponent are bringing into the game, you have a different issue to resolve that your suggestion wouldn't fix.

Perks counterplay.
That's really a big deal. DBD is an asym game. Sometimes people will be playing something that hard counters your build. That's not a big deal.
-
I don't get the point.
Survivors and Killers aren't picking from the same perk pool. Having them take turns picking perks doesn't contribute to anything.

@Yoshirama said:
I said it before and I'm gonna say it now: even if tunneling is a strategy, is not good because you're making another player not able to play the game and that's just a bad experience.
The problem with tunneling is that is not just a strategy, is a mindset. Many people says that they tunnel because they have to (even when they don't), BHVR can buff killers to make them able to fly and people will continue to tunnel just because they can. So yes, tunneling needs to stop, but genrushing too, because you can't punish one side and let the other alone
The survivor being tunneled out of the game, was playing the game as they had to have chases against the killer. The harsh reality is that survivors either get eliminated or escape and no matter how early you were eliminated, you did play the game.

So you are telling me that 1 heal at 100% healing speed by using 2 addons rare and very rare one is too op?
I gave you an answer to the question and now you are trying to move the goalpost. The answer still remains that the devs wanted to nerf self healing and they did.
-
Because the goal was to nerf self-healing
-
If we're going to punish killers for doing their objective, we should also punish survivors for doing their objective.
Gens can't be completed unless all gens on the map have at least 25% progress and once a gen completes all gens regress back to 0%.

you two probably play primarily assassins , here you come here with dissuasive pretensions ... if you played survivors you would know how frustrating it is to play DBD with randoms , and would support the idea that create a better system for those who leave in the middle of the game .
I actually play more survivor lately. The last thing we need is to give survivors the ability to d/c a few times with no punishment.
@lifeisstrange said:
DBD is the only game in this world that has a penalty that is stupidly way too harsh, every other game I ever play the most a dc penalty is 5 mins and probably=do not get dailies/level ups/ for 10 games.
It's only harsh if you d/c a lot. The starting DC penalties are 1 minute, 5 minute, and then 15 minute.
LoL has a penalty for dodging in champ select which starts at 5 minute for ranked and 15 minutes for ARAM AFAIK and then if you leave mid game not only do you get hit with a leaver's penalty, but you can't requeue for a new game while the game you left is in progress. Compared to that, DBD is very friendly if you only d/c a few times between the penalty resets.
-
To say pallet rescues take no skill is a bit of lie. There is a timing to it as throwing the pallet too early results in nothing but a wasted pallet.
-
You're complaining about teammates leaving the game and your solution is to make it so it's easier for people to leave the game without penalty.
The fact the 1st penalty is only a minute now means that people already have a basically free d/c and if they only d/c once every couple of days they'll never see a real punishment for it. If anything the penalty needs to be more harsh.
-
If you need to run Shadowborn, you should run Play With Your Food, Corrupt, and Deadlock.
You need Play With Your Food so you can catch survivors in T3 and killing survivors with Tombstone doesn't lose you a stack.
Corrupt and Deadlock are just reliable slowdown perks that don't require any input from you. Since you need to squeeze as much time as you can to stalk to T3.

This would encourage tunneling, since once killer survivor is always counted.
Unless we changed thana values a bit, and this fourth stack and full bonus would not be as powerfull.
The idea of desperate measures counting dead players is that if killer is playing unhealthy (we can argue if tunneling is valid strategy or if it should stay in gamę, but it IS unhealthy) survs can do something and at the same time its not gamebraking bonus (thana gen speed is)
Thana is 2% slowdown per survivor. All allowing thana to work on dead survivors would do is make it so killers can still have all 4 survivors injured for the full 20% slowdown.
Really wouldn't warrant thana seeing more nerfs and wouldn't really give killers anymore reason to tunnel as the game already rewards tunneling over spreading hooks

@Brokenbones said:
Personally I think the main issue is being able to bypass the perk's downside with special attacks. As cool as the interaction is, all it does is lessen what little amount of counterplay the perk already has.
I think damaging the obsession by any means removing 2 stacks would be a much healthier solution. It'd mean that if the Obsession is being proactive and trying to counter the perk, they can't just be sidestepped
Something that is an issue but one I don't have a solution for is camping with STBFL, these days without STBFL if you're close to a hook and camping - you can force a trade almost every time if there's no other survivor to help. STBFL makes this even easier and I feel like it def rewards camping more than it does chasing, despite it being a chase oriented perk.
Or just reduce the amount of stacks you can get, idk about that though.
Killers who can get reliable hits with their power, don't need STBFL. It's hardly an actual problem.

Some people just don't want survivors to have any decent perks. All the complaints about DS always end up being how the killer perceives they deserve a free kill and the perk makes it harder, but not impossible to do so.
No one is complaining about ds right now. No one has been complaining about ds for a while. You guys are really desperate to latch on to anything so you can justify nerfing perks that are perfectly fine.
-
The game not being translated into Arabic likely means they don't have someone who can translate and they should be looking into that.
As for character representation, while it would be nice it's not like bhvr is favoring any one with the characters they release. So this is a non issue

Survivor main logic: 8 stacks of stbfl grants free kills to the killer. Killer is allowed free kills. survivor not allowed free escapes with OTR/DS in end game. /unfair
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3420974#Comment_3420974
Sounds like double standards. Your saying survivor shouldn't have free escape end game perks but killer should. I think it should go both ways which is why I don't really agree with DS/OTR nerf in end game.
There's no double standard. Killers still aren't guarantee a kill at the end of the game. All that's changed is that killers have a better chance to secure kills because survivors don't have free escape perk. And that's how it should be in an asym 1v4.
-
A lot of the DBD achievements will honestly happen if you play enough. There's a few actual difficult achievements that you would have to try for, but most will simply come with time.
Best advice I can give as someone who has all the achievements, is just don't worry about.

Killers shouldn't be able to just secure one kill for free. Your logic is the same for ds/otr in endgame. If you're mad that the survivors got a free 4 out, but ds/otr being disabled would only reduce that to a 3 out, either way it's a loss so it shouldn't matter right? It's incredibily entitled to think killers should just be able to get a kill every game even if they get destroyed
You are simply putting words into my mouth.
The game is designed around the killer being able to secure at least 1 kill. This does not mean that 0 kills never happen. Killers still have to put forth effort to secure that 1 kill. Survivors don't get perks that provide essentially a free escape in the end game as a result.
-
@Rogue11 said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3420784#Comment_3420784
Killer is "meant to secure a kill"?? That sounds a little entitled don't you think? STBFL guarantees a hook trade or a snowball unless you majorly screw up as killer.
Not at all. The skiller securing a single kill at the end of the game is still a loss for them and with the mmr changes, the survivor who dies can still gain mmr for that game. Killers are being balanced around the fact that at least 1 kill should be happening every game.
-
@Rogue11 said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3420754#Comment_3420754
So DS giving a free end game escape is bad but STBFL giving a free end game kill is good?
It's an asym game. The killer is meant to be able to secure a kill. Killers don't need STBFL to secure their final kill so STBFL helping that in the end game doesn't really add much that isn't already possible.
-
The perk already prevents you from gaining more stacks after the obsession is dead and hitting the obsession makes you lose stacks. So it's pretty fair in that regards.

I will admit that this past year I didn’t play nearly as much as I used to. I basically went weeks without playing many times including a 2-month break before Dredge came out and a 1-month break after Knight came out. That definitely delayed my journey to 2k hours a lot.
I feel you. I've also been playing DBD a lot less over this last year.
-
You only have 2000 hours? I thought you would have more.
I'm sitting at 3,605 hours with all the achievements.
-
You can just do gens to force the killer to either close the hatch and try to play the exit gates.
-
The BP addons not only nerf the killers power (except clowns, but it also doesn't do anything), while only provide extra BP for using the power that is still restricted by the BP cap. They are hardly problematic and most killers can already cap the BP category without them.
-
If sprint burst is a huge problem, Fearmonger (a now free perk) heavily counters it.

What us vs them division? The merciless storm bug was the most recent, but as other people have posted there's various of other bugs affecting killers and survivors that also didn't get killswitch that many agree should have. There's just no consistency to the killswitch.

Don't get me wrong. Killswitching Any Means makes sense. It's just weird how little they utilize the feature espically when we've had bigger bugs that were never killswitched.

There’s really nothing wrong with Cher iridescent add on it’s a ultra rare for a reason it isn’t broken or abused it is just fine the way it is I think your getting it confused with ring drawing because of how much sadako can slug and build her condemn stacks
It being an Iri Addon does not justify how much stronger it makes Sadako. Simply nerfing it down to the last 1-2 TVs while making her base TV CD shorter would put her in a much better spot which would allow BHVR to buff her in other areas since she isn't as dependent on an Iri Addon to function well.

I think her iridescent video tape is fine that’s one her best add on because you hit a survivor and it turns on the last tvs that’s turned off it’s actually useful
It really isn't fine. There's a huge difference in power between Iri Videotape and Non Iri Videotape Sadako. It needs to be toned down and her TV cooldowns adjusted basekit.
-
No.
It only quiets the repair sound, not the sound of the gen. A killer is still likely going to check a gen that they hear is almost done.
-
Dredge cannot teleport to lockers near hooked survivors.
-
In order to buff Sadako, the devs need to nerf Iri Videotape and then adjust her kit from there.
-

I do think that the lullaby radius shows that Trickster and Sadako need to lose their lullabys. I don't understand the need for Trickster to have one. As for Sadoko, her having a lullaby, visual or audio, completely defeats the entire purpose of being a stealth killer. If they know you're in the area, stealth is no longer a thing
Trickster lullaby is only slightly bigger than his TR that it doesn't make a big different most of the time. The only thing it really does is prevent him from taking advantage of undetectable or oblivious.

If it was in chase then that's normal because it always shows the heartbeat visual while being chased if you have that option enabled, but if it was outside of chase then that's not right.
I didn't know that. That's probably it. I just thought it was weird to see the heart during Nightfall.
