Literally just play the game how you want. No one truly cares if you camp, tunnel, slug, don't 12 hook, 3 gen (with the intent of holding the game hostage), or you hit the survivor on the hook (which who actually is saying killers should get stunned or teleport for hitting on the hook lmao). Most people just shrug it off or get frustrated for the match, vent, and forget about it cause it's not that deep.
"No one truly cares how you play!"
They say, knowing the Survivors care and the devs caved and are forcing Killers to play like NPCs to make Survivors happy:
- Regression nerfed, so the devs cared about Survivors whining that they could not 4-man-escape all the time.
- Tunneling not allowed, so BT became basekit, and Survivors started abusing it to bodyblock. Now they cry that BT did not fix tunneling, because they weaponized it.
- Camping is soon not allowed, which will force Killers to 12 hook. And yet genrush perks are not only not even mentioned, but Survivors are getting a new one to replenish their purple toolbox charges after they use BNPs!
I fully expect something to become basekit to counter slugging, too. You know, since Survivors are being told through developer actions they get whatever they want if they yell loudly and long enough.
Oh yeah, and there's the guy claiming Killer regression perks should not stack, because them being nerfed was not enough. They need to be 100% useless.
And here's the thread where someone was saying there should be a perk to 'punish' Killres to hit Survivors on a hook: https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3433908
-
Rofl. No Survivor would agree to let their punching bag...I mean, the Killer, go.
They would deny it just so they can feel big and mean and have yet more power with which to rip the wings off the fly...I mean, the Killer.
-
Killers:
- Can't Slug (According to Survivors, who demand basekit Unbreakable; Slugging is BM, and anything toxic should be removed! Also, it wastes Survivor's time, and that's just wrong!)
- Can't tunnel. (It's unfair to knock someone out of the game before THEY decide to leave!)
- Can't camp/confirm kills.
- Are expected. Nay, almost FORCED, to 12 hook.
- Had gen regression perks nerfed.
- Can't 3-Gen, or it's their fault. Even if Survivors 3-gen themselves; It's the Killer's fault.
- Should get teleported and stunned if the killer 'BMs' by hitting a Survivor on the hook. Yes, this is easy to abuse, but that's the point.
Survivors:
- Get new genrush perks.
- Can play in a 4-Man SWF that gives them +50 free perks.
- If they 3-Gen; It's the Killer's fault.
- Claim the game is 'Basically over' at 5 gens, and expect NoED and other endgame perks to be nerfed accordingly.
- Seriously; They keep getting genrush perks, yet point to the +10 seconds on each gen as if it was some amazing change.
- T-bag. (It's not BM! Get thicker skin, Killers! The game should not be changed because you're angry!)
- Can wait in the exit gates to t-bag. But it's fine to waste Killer time instead of leaving. Also; it's not BM because Killers need to cope. BM only exists if it makes Survivors angry.
No wonder this game is hemorrhaging Killers; We're literally not allowed to win anymore, because literally anything we do is 'toxic'. 🙃
-
The devs literally increased the time to do the main objective of the game.
- And then they nerfed gen regression perks.
- And they just gave Survivors a new genrush perk.
- And they are now forcing Killers to play slower with the anti-tunnel change. Without changing genrush.
It's almost like the +10 seconds per generator was literally nothing with the genrush meta, which the devs clearly and carefully did not change. Because they knew they were giving Killers an empty update Survivors could point at and say 'You got what you wanted!' while not actually changing anything for the catered-too Survivor mains.
-
@foods said:
no using strategy or capitalizing on survivor mistakes. just wander around like a non threatening bot and show survivors a good time on their way to the exit gate.
feels like whiny forum survivors have control of the dev team. killers working towards their objective in any way is toxic and demands sweeping changes to game mechanics. getting review bombed for trying to balance survivor healing has them shook.
Pretty much this.
- Killers can't camp with the new change.
- Killer's can't tunnel because of basekit BT.
- I bet soon we'll see some sort of anti-slugging perk or change.
- Every Killer needs to have a power that Survivors can counter without needing to think about it. After all, it'd be 'unfair' if Survivors had to think about their perks to counter certain Killers!
- Even with the 10 seconds added to gens; Genrush was untouched, and they just added a new perk to genrush harder.
- Gen regression perks were nerfed, and some Survivors are screaming that gen regression perks should not stack. Because preventing Survivors from winning is 'toxic'.
- NoED is 'toxic' because 'Survivors have basically won already' when 5 gens pop, and should be removed.
Basically, according to Survivors:
- Killers should not win, because being removed from the game 'early' (IE: Before they walk out the exit gates) is 'toxic' and 'a flaw in the game'.
- And they get to decide WHEN they win (IE: When all 5 gens pop). At 5 gens, they have 'basically won' so any end game Killer perks are unfair because 'We already won'.
- Oh yeah, and slugging is 'wasting Survivor's time' but waiting in the exit gates to t-bag when you've already won as Survivor? 'Lol, get thicker skin. It's just hitting crouch'.
- Hitting someone on the hook? It's BM and should be punished with BS like The Killer being teleported away and being stunned for 15 seconds. T-bagging after a pallet save? 'Get thicker skin, Killers!'
- Slugging? Unfair, Survivors should be able to get up on their own. Killers also should not tunnel or 3 gen. Or camp. Or hit people after 5 gens pop. Basically, if it allows a Killer to win; It's unfair and toxic and the game is flawed.
The mentality of Survivors here shows that they are used to getting everything they want. Same with the massive review bombs the 0.%5 of the time Killers get a bone thrown to them; It's Survivors, spoiled on being given everything, losing their minds when someone else gets a gift.

If you lose multiple gens in the first chase then it’s your fault for chasing the looper. Leave that survivor and chase the other 3.
I love how the Survivor answer to long chases is 'Just give up.' 😂

Oh boy, it is this time of the year where we pretend that Perks will be OP just to see that nobody runs it.
You mean the same thing Survivors do every time a new Killer launches?
The difference being; they are giving Survivors more genrush while forcing Killers to play slower. Kind of tells you which side the devs favor.
-
Not only will Killers never get basekit anti-genrush (Basekit perks are only for Survivors), but right as they are forcing Killers to play slower with the 'anti camping' change; they are giving Survivors a new perk to regain toolbox charges without ever leaving a gen!
Yep! Killers are being FORCED to play slower, while Survivors are being given MORE genrush! It really tells you which side BHVR cares about more. And anyone saying otherwise is wrong.
-
@MrPsych said:
I still think Built to Last will be a stronger perk on the grounds that you can reuse it multiple times per trial and also works on medkits.
/me thinks you're overexaggerating a bit.
Or Survivors can use both, with 2 more gen speed perks, purple toolkits, and BNPs.
Let's see if we can get 5 gens down to 1.5 minutes! - BHVR
What's hilarious is that they are giving Survivors MORE gen speed after announcing they are forcing Killers to slow down killing with their 'anti camp' change.
Because forcing one side to play slower while speeding up the other is totally the right way to keep players.

I don’t believe you unless you start taking screenshots to prove it. Also, just because they brought the bnp doesn’t mean they hit the skill checks.
I don’t have a hard time against survivors. It’s a you problem. Inb4 you’re a trapper main.
Ah yes, because you are the experience of every other player. 🙄
-
@TonyXSplash said:
BNP is consumed on use. It immediately disappeared after you use it and it cannot be brought back by any means.
I meant the toolbox can be recharged.
They can dump 25% on 4 different gens with BNP, stack genrush perks to finish them in 10 seconds, then all gather up with purple toolboxes to finish the 5th gen.
BHVR has once again given Survivors everything they want while completely ignoring Killers.
Even the new Killer, neat as he is, is a joke; The setup time of a Trapper/Hag to make a net, then a basic M1 Killer who can sometimes teleport, if Survivors don't just remove his attachments to prevent said teleporting.

Yes, 40 knives is weaker than 5 hatchets. Weaker in every single way.
Most dishonest argument I've ever seen.
Considering
- The Trickster has to hit more than 1 knife to injure a Survivor.
- The knife gauge can decay over time.
- He still has to reload.
- His Main Event can power up at bad times.
- It still decays, even if he does not use it.
Maybe try to be more honest?

some addons "survivor" and "killer" can make the chair burn under me, which can fly to the moon. but I'm talking specifically about the power of these killers, who since they were released, have become like legal cheats. one flies through all the textures, instantly reducing the distance and leaving no chance of at least some kind of chase, the other has not yet been corrected by sliding and dpi
- So first Killer powers and perks Survivors hated 'reward bad play'.
- Then they 'gave unearned kills'.
- And now they are 'legal cheats'?
Survivors will really invent any buzzword/phrase they can to pretend what they hate is bad for the game. 🤣
-
If this BS of a Survivor-sided 'anti facecamp' idea goes through floors and ceilings; I think I may be done with DBD.

Being able to get a guaranteed kill from a single hook is indeed a free kill. Talk about ignorant
No it's not, because the game does not revolve around entitled survivor terminology.
Or, to say it more plainly: You don't get to decide what's approved, not approved, lazy, or not lazy. Sorry to burst that "I get to control my opponent' bubble you have there.

idk. I don’t have ptb access as a console gamer.
I think pausing the meter makes more sense. How was it abused? Chases and survivors within the hooks range should obviously negate the effect to some degree. I don’t see how else someone could abuse it.
Being hooked and then dealing with a killer waiting out your death timer is what face camping is right?
The killer can interrupt survivors trying to unhook for an instant down.
survivors are expected to have 2-3 chances against a killer. That’s why unhooking survivors is important, but a killer can eliminate a player by camping while ultimately letting the others go.
assuming the survivors don’t have the skills to counter face camping…
self unhooking doesn’t solve the issue of the killer being near the hook. Otherwise - yolo rescues would be viable and this whole conversation wouldn’t be happening.
the bad feeling that players get from face camping is that they’re not allowed to participate in normal gameplay the way they see it should be enacted. Same with tunnelling.
because this new self-unhook feature fails to preserve the life of a survivor and instead forces an action from the survivor it will ultimately fail.
It was abused Thusly:
- Survivor #1 is hooked
- Survivor #2 and #2 stand outside the 'Hook Radius' in full view of the Killer. Let's say North and South of the hook and 40 Meters away.
- If the Killer goes after #2 to the North; #3 Starts walking/running towards the hook. #2 also runs away, thus not triggering chase music, because he is too far away by the game's standards.
- Killer resets. Survivors #2, & #3 reset. Now, because they were so far away, a chase never started, and Survivor #1 has a paused hook timer.
- Killer goes South after #3, who runs away to avoid a chase starting. #2 runs towards the hook. Still no actual chase music because of distances.
- Killer resets. So do #2 and #3. #1 is still enjoying infinite hook timer.
- And #4 does gens, knowing EXACTLY where the Killer is and feeling NO pressure because #1 cannot actually die.
In this scenario; Survivors are forcing a free unhook through the games ill-thought-out punishment, or otherwise getting infinite hook time.
And the Killer, the so-called 'power role' has 1000000% nothing they can do to defend the hook, even though two Survivors are literally standing out in the open. Because they are too far away to chase.

Can I just ask, do you think eruption was fair when the incapacitation lasted for 25s? Just curious based on the other things you've said on the forums lmao
That has nothing to do with whining that Killers should not be able to stack regression perks while Survivors 4-man SWF, bring BNPs, purple toolkits, and every genspeed perk they can, and knock out 5 gens in 3 minutes.
But of course Survivor mains scream that the Killer trying to win is 'unfair' and need to change 'for the health of the game'. 🙄
-
No.
Survivors can stack gen progression, so Killers should be able to stack gen regression.
This would create a significantly healthier game as regression would not be nearly as problematic as it should be
By 'healthier' you mean 'Survivors would be happy with more wins and who cares about Killers'?
-
We have Nemesis and Wesker, both from Resident Evil/Biohazard.
-
No.
- This would be broken if a Survivor used the hooked Survivor to freeze the killer; it would allow for a free escape.
- Or the times the Killer goes for a grab/hit, and wonky hitboxes make him hit the Survivor on the hook instead. Once again allowing for a free escape.
- There are times I smack Survivors because the Survivor they are using has a painfully high scream and, as an autist, I am sensitive to it. It physically hurts me to hear the scream, so I cut it off by smacking them.
This idea is nothing but 'I don't like [x]. Let's punish the Killer for doing what I don't like'.
-
@Milo said:
It doesn't give the killer an easy down tho...? Unless you're not moving at all.
'An easy down' is Survivor BS-speak for 'I hate this and want to pretend it plays the game for Killers so I can demand nerfs'

Should solve itself before it even gets implemented after the obvious abuses show up.
Nah. Survivors will abuse it, Killers will point this out, and BHVR will shrug and push it through.
Then, after Survivors have enjoyed easy unhooks and 4-man SWF escapes are through the roof, and the game is hemorrhaging what few Killers remain; BHVR will adjust it to throw Killers a bone, and Survivors will scream that the game is Killer-sided, and Survivors always get nerfed, and Killers are catered too.

huh? Are you saying those are my ideas?
You said the Killer should be teleported. Then you mentioned 'Perhaps a 15sec stun' before admitting no Killer would want that. Which is not admitting the idea is bad, just that Killers would not like it.
Even giving Killers a power cooldown after the teleport would be BS, because certain Killers, like Nurse, rely on their power to even move as a decent speed.
-
@Emeal said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3432977#Comment_3432977
I'm afraid I cant compromise on this, so many of my friends have stopped playing this game due to face-camping and tunneling combined, so even that 5 second stun wont be enough. That is why I think it way better to allow Survivors a full reset by sending the Killer away. Perhaps a 15sec stun, but no Killer wants to play that way. A teleport and powercooldown is way better, because both players can get back to playing the game.
The problem is that being facecamped is such a bad experience, that bHVR's tiny helping bad is basically a horrible experience, but you get a nice damp towel too to help you. I have debated camping on these forums for a long time and I understand I and bHVR understand the Killer's perspective when it comes to defending proxy camping, but face-camping has to die man. There is no excuse for face-camping other than, the Killer being a noon or malicious. Both ways teleporting them away works because it makes a learning experience for the noob and problem for the malicious player.
You cant claim to be anti-face-camping by just providing free damp towels to its victims. I hope bHVR just hears this out.
Your idea is so horribly broken and Survivor-sided that I hope BHVR never sees it. There's nothing fair about it; It's simply a way to ensure Survivors never lose another match of DBD ever, and is clearly written by someone who's never played Killer.
- Teleporting the Killer away for a free unhook? Already broken. And Survivors can force it by swarming the hook. How biased do you have to be to think Survivors deserve a free unhook simply because they want it?
- Forcing a FIFTEEN SECOND STUN when teleported is ALSO broken as hell. This is not even 'For fairness'. This is 'Because I hate Killers & want them to suffer' and 'I don't play Killer, so I don't care how fun the role is'.
- Imagine trying to RIGHTFULLY defend a hook from Survivors that are nearby, only to be teleported away & stunned for 15 seconds while Survivors heal unopposed.
And if your friends would not come back unless they got such a broken, abusable, horrible idea that would make Killer unplayable & gift-wrap every match in Survivor's favor; Then not much is being lost. Saying 'My friends will only come back if they can never lose' is not really the endorsement for your idea that you think it is.
-
So Survivors getting free self-unhooks is healthy for the game.
But Survivors getting exposed with bloodlust to shorten chases is somehow evil and should never happen.
🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
That's up there with 'The visible heart is a good QoL change, but a bigger Killer FoV is not fair'.
Just more Survivor hypocrisy; Anything that benefits Survivors is great for the game. Anything that benefits Killers should never happen. 🤣
-
Don't worry; Now that Survivors got a free perk for 'tunneling', and are getting the ability to 100% self-unhook for 'camping'; I fully expect BHVR to cave on the pure whine-fest about 'slugging' and allow Survivors to pick themselves up if they are slugged for 0.000000000000000000000000000005 of a second.
-
Survivors won't be happy until the Killer is forced to 12 hook every match, no matter what.
And when Killers point out the gen speeds literally don't allow a 12 hook game, the answer will be 'Skill issue'.

Survivors get a free escape, because BHVR gives Survivors whatever they want.
Survivors: This is a Killer buff! Give us something else! (But also this)
The entitlement is real. 🤣
-
It had better turn off once the EGC activates.
The Survivor should not get a free goddamn escape when the Killer LITERALLY HAS NOTHING ELSE TO DO.
But knowing BHVR; It will not deactivate, and Survivors will get free escapes.
In 2 years; BHVR will change it, and Survivors will scream that the game is 'Killer sided' because they lost their EZ escapes.
Edited for a typo that made the post sound a bit lewd. My bad.

The only playstyle that is “fun” to Survivors is 12 hooking everyone. Any other playstyle gets complained about. Gen Defense, Totems, Tunneling, Camping and Slugging. Even some people are complaining about Hit and Run recently.
That's because, when Survivors say 'Camping/tunneling/whatever is not fun or healthy for the game', what they mean is 'Me losing is not fun for me, so I will wrap it in BS about the health of the game to try scaring the devs into making sure I never lose.'
You will note, while Survivors scream about tunneling being 'unfun' because it 'Knocks someone out of the game quickly'; Those same Survivors will say 'Lol, skill issue' if the topic of genrushing is brought up. Because apparently losing quickly is only bad if it's Survivors losing.
-
You're not being 'held hostage' if the game can end.
Survivors don't need yet more basekit perks just because they don't approve of the Killer winning.
-
Sure, but only if Killers can pick 2-3 Survivor perks to ban, so they never have to see those perks.
You ban Killer powers, so Killers get to ban Survivor power. And Survivor power is in the perks.

To abuse? No, to counter something that shouldn't be a problem to begin with. I just don't want to be left on the ground for an entire bleedout while the killer stands there and refuses to hook us. That deserves to be punished. I'm not demanding anything. I'm stating how terrible this situation is and suggesting game changes be made to help reduce the occurrence of it. Also a conditional change is all that is needed for this. If every survivor is down and the killer refuses to hook anyone for a certain amount of time then survivors should be able to fully recover. That isn't asking for a lot.
And what if the Survivors do something like all run into a dead zone so the Killer cannot hook anyone?
To the game; It looks like the Killer is refusing to hook anyone, and thus they can pick themselves up. And thus, they run to that dead zone every time, so they can be downed and pick themselves up, and never be hooked or bleed out.
Abuseable.
-
@KateMain86 said:
Its one thing to leave a survivor on the ground for a moment while you engage another one you saw nearby, but when you leave the last 2 survivors on the ground for an entire bleedout knowing there is absolutely nothing they can do about it then that is when slugging becomes a problem. This pic below was taken after me (Kate) and Mikaela crawled across the map hoping they'd hook us so the match would end. Mikaela eventually made it to me and the killer decided to stand there and wait for us both to bleed out. This is why we need basekit abilities to deal with these situations. If nothing exists to deter and discourage killer players from doing this, they will keep doing it. The killer has no strategic advantage at this point. They already won, so the intent is clear. They only do this to be toxic.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/041HUABCPK6G/20230512222243-1.jpg
Ah yes; The Killer was mean, so all Survivors everywhere should get something basekit to abuse over Killers whenever they want. 🙃
I guess I'm not surprised Survivors demand more abuseable basekit mechanics; The devs gave them BT, which they abuse to bodyblock, then complain they got tunneled when they get downed for said bodyblocking.
So now they know they can keep yelling loud enough to get more mechanics they can abuse, then go ShockedPikachu.jpg and complain don't work. 😂

And uhhh, who even says “survivor rulebook” anymore? What is this 2018 DBD? Lmfao.
As long as Survivors keep screeching for changes, nerfs, and 'punishments' for tactics that break their made-up, fake, and unenforceable rules; I will keep bringing up their delusional rulebook.

Except you're wrong.
There are many games where, after 1 person is sacrificed, there's now a dead zone. Survivors would abuse this dead zone to never get hooked, and now can pick each other up.
But continue to pretend it only harms people who break the Survivor rulebook.

Midwich has no shack. Perhaps you meant Badham?
I do like us fishing around for some solutions to the worse possibilities while slugging, but this idea most likely ain't it.
Badham, yes. Sorry. :)
-
Nah, I could see this being abused:
- Survivor 1 runs to a corner with no hooks. Killer knows he can't pick them up and hook them, so he slugs them.
- Survivor 2 gets chased. Runs to the same area. Killer downs them.
- Now the Killer has 2 Survivors in a hook dead zone, so he can't pick them up. But they can also pick each other up from the Dying state.
- Now repeat in every single game.
Oh yeah.
- And SWFs forcing the map to Midwitch while also forcing the Killer Basement into the Shack.
- They bring Boil Over and Sabo hooks and run to the School basement when chased.
- Repeat what happens that I wrote above.
So easily abused to never get put on a hook.
-
By 'slightly more balanced' you mean 'Easier for Survivors'.

Name one thing that could not get fitted?
- Their look. The 80's animated style would not fit in DBD. And they would not look right modeled more realistic.
- No one would want to kill Scooby.
- None of their villains were bloodthirsty. Most just wanted to scare everyone away to make money.
- The show was never adult horror. It was a comedy/mystery show. So the entire theme is different.
There's four things off the top of my head.
-
@Emeal said:
Nobody likes to hear a Dog in pain and I doubt bHVR would want that. So if they want to add SCOOBY DOO, here is an idea:
Basically the Scooby Doo Survivor has an NPC Scooby Dog that runs around and follows them. In the interest of Server Load, Only one NPC per game and that NPC would follow any SCOOBY DOO related Survivor. Scooby would always be faster than the Killer, so chasing Scooby would be impossible for Killers. And the NPC Scooby Dog just follows a SCOOBY DOO Survivor around, maybe he says stuff.
Would this not just make Scooby able to reveal your location to the Killer? Yes. Gooooooood Luck with it.
Also, bHVR IS REQUIRED to get the running animation right in order with the old Cartoon, This is a must.

Scooby doo would be such a nice fit for this Game, but only if the Licence holder wants to do a more adult angle with bHVR ofc.

Literally nothing about Scooby Doo fits in DBD.

Uhh..Not many people would want to hear a dog dying, so Scooby himself would be out.
And their cartoony looks would not fit in DBD.
Plus; every monster (sans a few movies) was just a human in a suit, usually in it for money. Do you think WB would let BHVR turn one of them into some bloodthirsty monster who slaughters Fred?
Scooby is not any sort of match for DBD.

So you are complaining that if the whole enemy team is better then you, then you should still win somehow? Why? How is that fair? Also you can still create deadzones and no matter how good said survivor is - he will still go down. If there are no resources to loop around, then even best player in DBD will just die.
"So you are complaining that if the whole enemy team is better then you, then you should still win somehow? Why? How is that fair?"
And yet Survivors whine about the Killer being better than them and 'tunneling' and 'camping', and how it should be changed NOW if not sooner than NOW!
Weird that Killers talking about genrushing are met with 'Git gud', but Killers killrushing (Tunneling and camping) are game-breaking tactics that should never exist & every Killer who does them should have their PCs burned in front of them.
I guess winning quickly is a Survivor-only thing?
