Hence why it's more preferable to remove the DC penalty and allow the bots to be used more-
It would be more preferable to remove the easy out via self death on hook than it is to remove the DC penalty. Killers don't want to end up facing 4 bots after queueing up to face other players and survivors don't need to be rewarded with rage quitting games.
-
I played against bots and while the changes make him feel better than the 7.4 update, he's still not good.

Okay but hear me out, what if we allowed end game builds to exist without complaining? The odds end game builds start dominating the meta is extremely unlikely so you're probably never gonna see it even with the nerf reversion. Do we start seeing Pop/Pain Res/Batteries/NOED start popping up? I suppose it's possible but I'm skeptical people will want to give up perks like Lethal, BBQ, Sloppy and Corrupt. This is mostly End Game enjoyers getting a W and they should be allowed to have it.
The bigger issue with end game builds is that trying to kill all 4 survivors after the gens are done is a much harder task and survivors can hide out No Way Out's timer, they can control when they open the exit gate to prevent bloodwarden, and if the gates are open can leave before bloodwarden triggers. NOED now shows it's aura and if it's not possible to cleanse it then it's best to let 1 survivor die and have the other 3 leave.
If you have a build that is effective at preventing gens from getting done, then it's much easier to snowball into a 4K because survivors can't just leave and avoid your perks.

My understanding is that they made that change from PTB because they didn't intend for it to be a endgame perk. But when people expressed that they wouldn't use it anymore they reverted it.
I reckon if the perk launched on PTB with the deactiviation clause, it would never have been changed. It's just that people expected for it to be a good perk for endgame and when it wasn't it was a dealbreaker so now it's become multi-purpose i suppose.
I think it will be fantastic endgame perk but not meta
If the perk always had the deactivation condition, it would just be a bad perk no one would use. Chasing survivors around completed gens before the end of the game is not something you want to do often.
-
Batteries is an end game perk. It working well with other end game perks isn't that big of a deal. End game builds aren't even that good.
-
I don't believe SWF itself is a problem, but I think SWF helps highlight the problem.
Solid solo q players can absolutely destroy the killer in the same way SWF can, but due to matchmaking it's much rarer to see good solo teams. SWF players can pick who they play with meaning there's a much higher chance of having all 4 players be good.
-
With how many perks are in the game, killers don't really need to run perks that can be destroyed and often not strong enough to warrant the downside.
I do like the recent Hex design of having hex totems light up dull totems when their conditions are met.
-
The amount of aura reading perks doesn't really matter too much, because killers only have 4 slots.

I still remember how face camping was the thing where the killer stood in the exact hooking spot. Preventing the "press m1 to unhook" prompt to appear. Devs introduced unhooking from every angle. They removed body blocking the hook for killers. Survivors then jumped to call standing next to the hook face camping.
Hell, i´ve seen a twitter screenshot from a killer who stood on the second floor, like 20 meters away from the hook and it was still called face camping.
Sometimes it feels like some people wouldn't be content unless the killer was removed from the map after a hook.
Though the funniest thing I personally got was a Dwight who complained I tunneled them despite them escaping via the escape gate because they were my obsession and I was running Play With Your Food. Back when leatherface could actually make use of that perk without an addon.

To you it isn't. To most survivor players it is an issue however, because again, getting camped is not fun at all. Just because you don't care about the survivors fun doesn't mean their opinions are less valid.
In a better game that was more fun for both sides, killers would be more motivated to spread hooks by having that strategy be more viable, and camping and tunneling would be much less of a problem because those strategies would be much less viable.
If you want to make it into an us vs them go ahead, but I'm not going to engage with this mindset.

People were complaining about camping in general. Because being camped in general isn't fun. Has nothing to do with just looking for the next thing to complain about, like come on. This game just has a lot of unfun stuff to it and the devs are either clueless how or unwilling to actually address these issues.
Camping isn't an actual issue. Hooks are an objective and killers are allowed to play defense against unhooks.

Yes, I get it, the devs have made it clear that this is an anti-face camp mechanic. I am just saying that it's ridiculous to create a system like this just to counter facecamping and that's it. It clearly barely has any impact on increasing the enjoyment of the survivor experience.
And normally, you want to change a game in ways that improve it noticeably, making it more fun for the playerbase. Clearly this feature has failed to do so, because getting camped normally and tunneled isn't much more fun than being face camped. BHVR is just way too timid with the changes to actually push this game forward in a healthy way. It's ridiculous in my eyes.
People were complaining about facecamping before the system was put out. Now that facecamping is practically non-existent, people are just moving on to the next thing to complain about.

Well, if not chests... They can simply decrease a chance % for flashlights to 0 for a "killswitch period".
Their current system of killswitch does not allow them to adjust the odds of item pulls from chests. This is something I was told by a dev last time this bug appeared.
-
@Grigerbest said:
Maybe killswitch chests...? No...? Ok...
I don't believe Chests can be killswitched with the current system. The only things the devs can do is prevent certain perks/items/addons/offerings from being brought into trial (and doesn't work without a game refresh which DBD doens't enforce) and the chance to roll a map.
I also don't see Nostromo getting disabled, because IIRC it's a guaranteed purple item not a guaranteed flashlight.
-
Tunneling and Slugging being done in a match does not represent a lack of skill.

If what you say is true, you need to make a thread to let the devs know that players can circumvent killswitches by just not closing their game.
I can't believe that the server just crosses its fingers and assumes its clients are obeying an honor code.
They already know this. I specifically asked Mandy last time if the killswitch prevents flashlights from being found in chests and they said they do not.

well, it is in the rules that its (temporary) ban worthy, unless they changed their minds:
- Exploit bugs, errors in design, or undocumented features to gain access to what otherwise would not be available or to obtain a competitive advantage
- In-game report REQUIRED / Player Support ticket OPTIONAL
It says the support ticket is optional, but i feel like they'd definitely need video proof.
Last time the flashlight exploit popped up, people were asking about why not declare that it's bannable like they did with legion's infinite mending bug. And the response was they don't need to, because killswitch.
Of course this is just my memory of the last time, but the way it came across was they aren't going to ban people over a bug/exploit if they can killswitch the problem.

I'll take the timer for the box respawn being increased! Anything!
It already takes 45 seconds to respawn when the box is solved and then it takes 90 seconds for the chain hunt to start after spawning. The box doesn't need to take longer to respawn than it already does.

sure but why are you against his suggestion?
I'm just stating that the reason we haven't see faster hooking perks on the killer side is because there's practically no value in that buff.
-
Pinhead already received some massive nerfs.
First, the box no longer works with item related perks like Franklins or Hoarders.
Second, the camping his box strategy has already been nerfed as if Pinhead stands on the box it'll teleport elsewhere.
Third, there was a recent change in the patch notes to prevent chain hunt chains from interrupting solving the box.

Yeah idk when bhvr got this opinion of "we won't ban because its a bug we caused" when survivors or killers literally go out of their way to abuse it. There was bugs like lightspeed nurse or legion where people actually got banned in the past. So it was sometime between now and the.
IIRC, a dev stated that since the killswitch exists to turn off problems, there's no need to mass bans over an exploit since the problem can be disabled. The problem is that flashlights can't be fully killswitch due to chests existing.
-
@Rulebreaker said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3604639#Comment_3604639
But it does mean that the survivor who was nearby gets chased quicker. Every second matters to both sides.
In theory, but no one is going to run faster hooking perks to begin with, because the value of them is so minor the point that it doesn't really exist.
-
@Tsulan said:
Ban them. Each and everyone of them. They didn´t learn their lesson on the first time, because nothing happend and will happily exploit whenever this bug resurfaces. So the only way i see, is to ban them.
This is something that completely ruins the game for everyone else.
Especially when killswitching doesn't even completely prevent the problem. Survivors can still loot flashlights from chests meaning all the killswitch is doing is preventing the easiest methods of having a flashlight.
-
Killers hooking faster just isn't that important of an increase. Once you begin the animation, you can't stop the hooking anyways. So it's not like hooking faster will stop sabos or prevent flashlight saves.
Whereas survivors unhooking faster can mean the difference between getting interrupted and finishing the unhook before being hit.

You don't, but come in here claiming you escape 50% of the time and that everything is perfectly fine when it's extremely clear you don't even play survivor...which you just confirmed with this response..smh.
I totally don't play survivor so that's why I have more survivor challenges done
The fact is, solo q isn't in some unplayable state.

You misread/misinterpreted what I wrote xD
I meant if Demo and Trapper can't just reach survivors easily at the start, then why are OP killers like Blight and Nurse able to? :p
The reason onyro, Dredge, and freddy have cooldowns at the start of the match is due to their ability to teleport across the map from anywhere.
Xeno has to be in specfic locations to move quickly. Blight can't ignore walls. Nurse has limited range. Demo has to set up.
Frankly I don't believe killers should have cooldowns at the start of the match, but it's not like bhvr is doing it randomly.
-
@squbax said:

Bhvr has already killswitch beamers, what they do is not close the game so the killswitch doesnt activate for them.
You can still find flashlights in chests, because the killswitch does not affect the random rate from chests.

What about the insane pressure at the start of the match? Why does Demogorgon doesn't have it then? Or Trapper.
Demogorgon has to place two portals before he can even teleport anywhere.
Also are we complaining that Trapper can place traps at the start of the match?
-
I only play soloq and I certainly escape more than 5-20% of the games. SoloQ isn't some queue that makes it impossible to win.
-
Onyro's and Dredge's powers not only build up a second effect, but are on demand map wide teleports.
Nurse's blinks have a max range and Blight can't go through walls.
Xeno has to physically move to a control panel as he can't just decide to teleport from his current location.
-
You could bring Calm Spirit if facing Ultimate Weapon bothers you that much.
But scream notifications are less accurate than auras and lockers are not always in the most convenient spots either.
-
Flashlight exploit is back where survivors can phase into lockers.

That's ridiculous. He can just stand there and when a survivor comes close he'll just approach to the hook since a survivor being around the hook pauses the bar. So it nullifies everything you just said.
If the Killer is face camping then you shouldn't be attempting a save.
The mechanic isn't there to give survivors free unhooks for the killer existing on the map.
-
It's okay for people to enjoy different killers than you.
Personally tracking survivors with the drone and finding ways to sneak up on the survivor is fun.
Besides, DBD players love to quit against the slightest hint of a difficult game.
-
If you primary use your M2 for damage and lack any access to mangled/hemorrhage via addons and care about stopping survivors from healing up.
Which admittedly is practically no killers, but that is the only reason to run it.
-
The only thing survivors must to do win the game is to repair generators. Thus killers run generator protection perks, because they are guaranteed value.
-
If you're teammates are much weaker than the killer, you're likely going to lose a team game. Doesn't really matter what the killer is running.
I've had solo q games facing killers with pain res and pop that still led to multiple escapes.
But also what are killers really suppose to run? Generators are the only thing survivors have to do to win, so running anything other than gen protection doesn't really make a lot of sense. Information perks can be good, but you don't really need to dedicate all 4 slots to information perks either.
-
The mid-chapter won't drop without a PTB and the PTB likely won't be this month since we just had the chapter release and the holidays at the end of the month.
Generally the PTB for the mid-chapter drops around the time the rift end and currently the rift is set to end in a month.
Likely early January is the PTB and 3 weeks later so either end of January or beginning of February is the mid-chapter release.

I can't believe I have to say this but generators aren't people. Survivors aren't ruining the generators game experience by finishing them before they have a chance to play. What are you even talking about?
Survivors is the role that can be eliminated. If being eliminated from the game is a problem, then don't queue up as the role that can die.
-
@Dreamnomad said:
You can't "tunnel" a gen. What are you even talking about? Is this an episode of The Twilight Zone? Am I being pranked?
Do survivors get off a gen 33% done to work on a gen that has 0% progress?
-
@Chaosrider said:
Survivors cant tunnel by definition. And stop making those nonsense comparisons.
Then killers can't tunnel either. It's just focusing the objective.
-
The movie does not reflect the gameplay of the games. If you're someone who really like the lore of the series, then the movie would certainly do it for you. But it's very lackluster as a horror movie.

You're well within your right to do that, after all survivors don't stop running away when they see a killer getting their glyph mid-chase, it's a double standard.
I'll make sure to go out of my way to prevent anyone from getting any challenge they are going for.
-
@Krazzik said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3600762#Comment_3600762
To be fair why should the killer let you get your challenge done?
The harder they make it the less time you're gonna spend on gens.
Then I'll make sure to never let survivors finish their glyphs before I down them.
-
I honestly don't see survivors wiping her traps away that often. It's still way more efficient to just trigger her traps when she's too far away or interaction locked.
-
It's meant to give survivors a chance back into the game if they get facecamped. It's not a general measure against camping
-
When the 5th gen is completed, the other 2 gens do become completed as well.
-
There's too many killers that try their hardest to avoid being blind during hook animation. Like dude you aren't going to lose your hook, I just want my challenge credit.
