tru3 said against good survivors it's even and he knows bhvr is going to nerf him into the ground so he put out a video on how to nerf him w/o destroying him

He did? That would be interesting. Most of the nerf calls I've seen have been to murder him

  • This event honestly encourages slugging and tunneling for pressure as most non s tier killers

Yup, but it's not "accidentally broken", the devs decided that in the quest to stop all regression or progress speed, all other perks, powers, add-ons, powers, and items needed to not work with gens either.

At least Killers can still see blood gen auras? Such generosity. Can't see the pumps, though, even though that is vital knowledge if you want to maybe catch someone between them.

I don't know what they are testing.... How gens go when there is no regression?

  • @Prometheus1092 said:

I think this event to see how killers handle with faster gen speeds/nerfed regres perks. Like I been saying for ages and with most events, when a killer loses their perks like in chaos event and now this even they lost regres perks... Killers will tunnel, camp and slug out of necessity

This 100% it's the only way to have pressure in this game mode

  • I love playing "get gen rushed and screwed over unless you play a hyper mobile killer and keep chase pressure every second" the event.

  • The cool mechanic is you can't pressure gens. And sometimes your power doesn't work

  • @smurf said:

The best thing is that addon that makes all survivors start with a tape in their hand. With that addon, only three gens are even accessible at the start of the match...

So use this add on, the when tvs turn on immediately spam teleport to all of them to turn them off

  • Idk I'm just playing blight and applying as much slugging pressure as I can

The developers said in their livestream that no perk (e.g. PainRes, Pop but also Fire Up), addon, or killer power apllies/works (yet) on these event generators because they want to see what is the feedback on the new gameplay mechanic and depending on this feedback, they would change it.

Here the statement with timestamp: https://www.youtube.com/live/9pR607LNhGo?si=6W_LC899Fw4cJFkp&t=2263

    What freaking mechanic?

filling gas is one thing, but the removal of gen regression is moronic

I'm very used to it, I think it's trolls and frankly it's a consequence of downvotes existing here again. They need to go, they don't foster useful discussion. They offer nothing and are used to ratio and "own" people instead of their intended use.

Agred, downvotes give ppl redditbrain, never be redditbrain

  • @LockerLurk said:

The event feels really boring from Survivor perspective too. Like really boring. And then people come in and snipe your gen to finish it and get your points for spending time trekking to fill the gens.

It's just not very fun. But funniest thing, when I posted this same thread about this same issue, I got downvoted to oblivion. Insanity.

i believe i mentioned a bit of that. the gens are somehow even more dull than usual. It's impressive. and the points being individual instead of group blows. This event… is just so bad i can barely believe it.

  • @MoZo said:

first time ever killers are forced to bring chase perks and abandon slowdown perks!

I hope you like getting slugged and camped for pressure then

  • Tunneling and slugging is the only way to apply pressure sadly. You cant pressure gens at all.

  • @LockerLurk said:

And yet again, I post a balanced take showing how the event is bad for both sides, and it gets downvoted to oblivion. I point out how the mode is not fun as Survivor, feels bad as Survivor, and is too easy as Survivor - which it is, then give nuanced ways the game could EASILY be made more fun for everyone, and I get DOWNVOTED for it instead of actual nuanced discussion. Just like Reddit.

    God, this community is trash.

I have no idea why the heck you are getting downvoted, It has to be either trolls or ppl who like genrushing and hate balance

  • @Nathan13 said:

first day of the event and solo survivors are giving up left and right, it’s starting to become a survivor problem. Ghoul is a little OP but we can’t blame it all on the killer.

I had someone dc against wraith the moment I hit another survivor 😅 I guess he didn't like seeing thantaphobia pop up

  • @Mandy said:

Flashbangs now work as they were always intended to work, it was never intended that the survivor model could clip into a killers model so that they could get a blind which a killer couldn't avoid - even when facing a wall. Same as the audio and blind radius - you should not be blinded when looking up (which was happening) and you should not be blinded if the flashbang is not within your range of vision, hence we adjusted the angles. There has to be a way for the killer to avoid the flashbang, before it was incredibly easy to just drop the bang and the killer would be blinded with no way to avoid it, that's definitely not something that was ever intended to happen.

Whilst I appreciate that those who enjoy using flashbangs, have to now learn the new radius etc, the previous version was bugged.

    Thank you.

  • I wish perks still worked on them

DO NOT TOUCH HIS CANCEL COOLDOWN. This will destroy his skillcap immensely and make him boring to play as AND against.

What you're asking for here, is going to be the WORST POSSIBLE VERSION of this killer because you'd disincentivize using his power in interesting, skillful ways, basically shoehorning him into only using it when he's guaranteed to catch up on you, with zero risk-taking from the player's part. You're asking him to be weaker than Legion while simultaneously being more boring. They can't increase the downtime after his leap without just turning him into Diet Legion.

The whole point of his ability and his skillcap is to dash intelligently to cut off your path, and give you a moment or two to try to get away before he hits you. If you make him take too long before he can hit you, even after playing correctly and performing a good dash, he's going to be piss weak. He's already an M1 killer.

His gameplay loop is to try to cut you off and then down you. It is NOT designed to "cut you off, stare at you for 3 seconds and let you get somewhere safe before he can hit you". That's not only unfair to him since he can't down you directly with his power anyway, it's also dumb to play against. You're asking for something dumb to play against.

If you make him take too long before he can M1 you, he's going to be worse than Legion because his ability to injure a whole team is significantly slower, while also denying him the ability to effectively bodyblock windows and pallets. He's not designed to stare at you for 3 seconds while you try to shuffle around his body. His power cooldown is designed to give you enough time to drop a pallet on him or vault, otherwise you die if he blocks it OR if you're out in the open. His power is NOT designed to stare at you lovingly while you beat your face against him trying to reach the window behind him.

You could nerf the range in which he can get his initial injure, or make him walk slower when his power is out, but DO NOT TOUCH HIS CANCEL FATIGUE. You don't actually know what you're asking for. You are going to be even more frustrated against him while simultaneously ruining what makes him fun to play.

Here's a changelist that I think is healthy for both sides:

    1. Survivor power clickbox reduced (buff to high skill Kaneki players so they can swing around corners and bodyblock instead of accidentally pouncing on survivors, while nerfing low skill Kaneki players and controller players)
    2. Slightly reduce movement speed while aiming power
    3. Prevent the power from locking in to people with an Endurance status effect. This means you cannot pounce onto someone who was recently unhooked, but you can still use it to pre-counter things like Styptics and Dead Hard. You can also use it to bait Dead Hard (since the power will only be unable to lock onto someone for the 0.5 second duration that the Endurance effect lasts during Dead Hard.) This change will tune down Kaneki's ability to tunnel.

Done. That's it. That's all he needs. I deliberately excluded any changes regarding how his initial hit injures people "through walls" because that's not what's actually happening from a technical standpoint (he's latching on to you BEFORE you reach a corner. Reducing the clickbox will already solve a lot of the issues here so no further changes are needed regarding the visual mismatch)

    Good post

No problem, I got your skill expression right here. What if we, wait for it, made him need to actually aim with his power to get hits?

I am in favor of removing the overly generous hit region, both for survivors sakes and so I can have an easier time skillshoting around them,

  • So you are saying survivors are no not going to rest in companions until he's reworked into uselessness?

  • This is a very sane take thank goodness. I'm sick of people wanting to see him just eradicated

  • With the 8 kick limit they should buff gen regression.

  • Removing the midair cancel takes away skill expression

  • @KxRxPxA said:

Honestly, I think he is a little unfair. I mean sure his power attack isn't lethal, but if you're fully healthy, you are supposed to be able to withstand 2 hits anyways so essentially playing against Ghoulboy means you only have 1 health state and unlike Legion, he can literally traverse the entire map within half a second. And don't get me started on the diabolical hit detection his power has, I would be fine with his power taking one health state away from me, but this ######### just makes it feel so unfair and unfun, because most of the power hits I've taken, were literally either a mile away from me or through a wall.... Not sure if this was intended or not but it's extremely frustrating and it literally just feels like I couldn't have done anything to counter his power attack. And also there is the fact that currently 90% of killers are playing him. He can be fun to loop, but literally almost every single god damn game I played in the last 2 days was against this killer and he's really just starting to annoy me...

I've never been happier to verse a Chucky in my life.

T he hit detection is hitscan

  • DBD has the most tribal community out of any game I play

  • I'm just sick of survivors demanding he be dumpstered like Chucky and SM

  • That's just it, you don't

  • The devs are going to listen to whining survivors and skull merchant him like they were considering doing to xenomorph

  • People want to be mad and be demanding and do it right now

  • The salty survivors downvotung you proves you right.

Its usually because it takes time for people to learn how to play against a killer and as a killer. Rather than immediately nerfing something a week after i comes out, give it some time to marinate and see how things go. Once people start learning, then changes can be made as needed.

I come from an era of gaming where you just dealt with the fact that magneto was the best character in MvC2 and you figured out how to beat him, rather than calling for nerfs right away.

The killer has not even been out for a day, people are still figuring stuff out. Give it some time.

Exactly. This is the biggest knee jerk on survivors part I've seen so far

  • Is hockey an asymmetric game?

  • @Saiph said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3903867#Comment_3903867

Yup so probably worth sharing with other people:

Almo, ex-dev of DBD said that part of the reason why other asym games failed is because there was no tunneling. In other words, they even consider tunneling to be a POSITIVE thing for DBD, not a problem.

Well that's one way to put it. Not the best way or accurate but one way

  • Chucky and Wesker has similar periods of constantly running into the same killer again and again

  • He's mid to high A tier.

  • @Saiph said:

Blame the devs, not the players. The devs balance the whole game around tunneling despite the whole community telling them not to.

I used to hate tunnelers as survivor but to give you an analogy, now that I've played both sides, not tunneling as killer is like opening 1-2 chests between every gen as survivor. Probably as a new player you thought opening chests is what you're supposed to do, you get BPs, and you can still win the match, but once you become good at the game you just realize how much you were shooting yourself in the foot.

Not tunneling as killer, is the exact same - shooting yourself in the foot - by trying to play the game how it's supposedly intended, except you don't even get any BP for doing it. In fact, BHVR removed the +100% BP bonus that BBQ & Chilli used to give for hooking everyone, AND then proceeded to nerf DS. At this point, don't blame killer players for adapting to terrible design.

Id encourage you to look at what the dev who fairly recently left BHVR said ahout tunneling and asym games

People ALWAYS downplay how strong a new killer is. Admitting something is over tuned will cause it to get nerfed faster. People who mostly play one side don't want to see this happen.

Or survivors scream "OP killer plz nerf" when the killer is brand new and nobody has even learned how to play against them effectively.

Wesker, Houndmaster, Unknown, Pre buff Dracula, and now Kaneki

  • Phantasm.

I would love to see the tall man as a killer with his lurkers and seekers in his power

  • People play blight cause he is able to be strong and is fun.... The solution is to make other killers more viable..... Not skull merchant killers you didn't like

  • Surge is fine. It's only 8%

  • @Reinami said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/441362/can-we-please-get-more-power-diversity-in-future-killers

We had and have killers like that, let me list them and maybe you'll see a trend:

    • Trapper
      • Killer whose power is about setting up a web of traps and forcing survivors to step in them instead of being directly anti-loop
    • Hag
      • Similar to trapper
    • Freddy
      • I'm talking the old one that had to put survivors to sleep, where it was about forcing the survivors into the dream world where he would slow the game down significantly, and the survivors had to work to wake themselves up.
    • Pig
      • Survivors are forced to remove traps off their heads through alternate gameplay objectives
    • Legion
      • Legion has the power that makes it very easy to injure survivors, but then is purely an m1 killer.
    • Twins
      • It could be argued that victor is "anti-loop" but twins is more of a "swap and control 2 characters" type killer where you create scenarios where both halves of the killer work together
    • Pinhead
      • Survivors have to find and look for the box, giving them an alternate objective. The other part of the power is partially anti-loop, but the true power of pinhead is in the box.
    • Sadako
      • Sadako really doesn't have a "power" per se. She isn't really invisible, and has a heartbeat indicator. Her power is more about the map control and slowing the game down by forcing survivors to do tape runs, rather than directly interacting with the survivors. She's more about macro than micro gameplay
    • Knight
      • Knight is actually similar to sadako. Generally you aren't using the knight's power to chase or down survivors, you are using it to make them waste time while you are able to conduct 2 "chases" at the same time, forcing more macro rather than micro gameplay
    • Skull Merchant
      • Skull merchant was about setting up a web of drones then forcing survivors to run into those drones. The drones themselves aren't very good at anti-loop, like old legion, sure she might "eventually" down a survivor at a loop if they stay too long, but the amount of time that takes isn't going to win you the game. You need to play smart and break chases frequently and force surviors into your web.

Now, do you see the trend here? The killers that are not anti-loop, are basically the killers where survivors are forced to "not do gens". Now you could argue that pinhead and pig have somewhat of anti-loop powers. But their "true" power is actually their ability to slow the game down, by forcing survivors into an alternate objective.

So, what else do all these killers have in common? Other than pinhead, every single one of these killers is either horrible, or has been gutted and nerfed into oblivion, due to survivors complaining about them despite them not actually having that high of a win rate.

    • Trapper is probably the worst killer in the game and BHVR has stated they want that by design since he is the killer "new players" will start with
    • Hag was gutted when they just made it so survivors can just remove her traps whenever and she is STILL 110% killer, and on top of that survivors hate her "proxy camp" playstyle, the only reason she isn't complained about as much is because she isn't played as often as the others.
    • Old freddy slowed the game down so much that survivors were better off waking up and then working on gens instead of just powering through and working on gens. Everyone HATED this and complained because "it slows the game down too much and its unfun". But freddy was more about slowing the game down rather than having a direct anti-loop power. But then, again, gutted
    • Pig forces survivors to do a secondary objective, or just literally die. And again, she isn't very good, and has been nerfed constantly. Only recently has she gotten some buffs, but those have been in her stealth and chase power. The traps still do nothing if used at endgame because "reasons"
    • Legion is constantly complained about as being unfun and annoying to play against survivors. And look what they are doing! Nerfing mending (the thing that allows legion to slow the game down and force survivors not to do gens) and buffing other aspects of the kit, which are going to make the chase ability a bit better, while nerfing the slowdown.
    • Twins was going to get a rework that changed the slugging style and everyone complained about that one. Also, that rework was going to turn twins into, yet again, another anti-loop killer. The current one has to play tactially and slug survivors at the right times and pick them up at the right times, and twins is still probably on the chopping block for nerfs again given the nerfs coming to slugging, a core part of the killers identity.
    • Pinhead is the only killer that hasn't been nerfed that still has this, and is one of the reasons why i play him so much. He is able to slow the game down passively because survivors have to look for that box, and if they don't, they are gonna have a bad time. But given that he was listed a while back as one of the killers getting changes, i suspect his nerfs are coming.
    • Sadako has been reworked so many times now people barely know what she does. But her previous iteration, the one that added global stacks was great. It created real threat in the power, and force survivors to again, stop slamming gens as fast as possible, and work on a secondary objective. But we can't have that, so now all they have to do is slam the gens, take a 5 second break to pick up the tape when the TV turns on, and then keep slamming gens.
    • Knight's in an interesting spot as well, because he is similar to pinhead in that his recent changes actually nerfed his chase power and made his map control power better. I suspect that he is a sleeper killer, and is similar to hag and not complained about simply due to how rare he is to face. But i think as time goes on, he is going to become more popular and get added to the chopping block.
    • Skull merchant needs no explanation. Her last iteration before her intentional nerfs to make her useless was pretty good, just needed some slight tweaks. She is a victim of the "chess merchant" mentality because she came out during a time where that meta was strong, and her power synergized with that strategy. Now that there is the 8 kick limit, she has been nowhere near as oppresive. But again, she has a power that forces survivors to think about where they move rather than just simply dodging it, they must do a secondary objective to weaken it, again, staying off of generators. And look what she is being reworked into, a boring generic "dash" style killer.

Every time a killer comes out or is changed in a way that forces survivors to NOT DO GENS in order to counter the power, that killer is complained about until they are reworked and/or nerfed. If the power requires survivors to do anything other than "dodge left" or "dodge right" its some massive problem that needs to be nerfed for some reason.

Survivor mains only have themselves to blame for the anti-loop killers, and at this point, i don't actually know what killer they want to go against. Because survivors complain about most of these killers above, and also about anti-loop powers, and also about slugging, and also about tunneling, and also about slowing the game down. At this point i'm convinced they would only be happy playing against a perkless trapper that doesn't use his traps.

Right on the money there. The powers of the trap killers generally are unliked or useless.

  • He's great. Perfectly tuned and expressive. He is the epitome of a perfect killer

  • I've been playing since Y1 and I got to say sometimes it's just best to step back from the game for 3 or so months. Especially if the meta starts getting to you. This is for either killer or survivor side. When you start getting affected by the game outside of it that's when it's time to step back.

  • This is incredibly disappointing. It turns her from a stealth/trap killer to another yeet stuff at survivors killer. The hacking mini game is too easy and is free intel for swf. It create old OoO. The loss of scan lines, claw traps, and lock on destroys her identity as a killer. I like the ability to move and control the drones. In regards to the global scan I think it should work like lions drone pulse in R6 where it hits any survivor who is doing a conspicuous action. Removing hindered and haste is ok I think. But so much of this is just bad.... After the Freddy rework this, much like the proposed xenomorph changes, is a major disappointment and seems very tone deaf on the part of the devs.

Everytime new suggestion or feedback regarding balance and some improvements for killers and killers perks are stopped by survs main saying that killers dont need buffs for bad perks since they already have very oppresive perks like regression ones.

Killers would love to use other perks, but dont want to use useless ones.

And you get downvoted into oblivion

  • At the very least they should make the fiog more menacing

Any buff to Survivors buffs SWF and that's something that has to be lived with, tbh.

SWF are always going to be more powerful because it's communication and planning ahead of time in comparison to being thrown into a match with a bunch of randoms. That's something that really can't be avoided.

Then wouldn't killers need buffs to be able to stay against swfs?
