With Halloween right around the corner a Blighted Dracula would be sick.

Blighted Unknown is what I am really hoping for. Imagine, when he's moving, you hear the normal bones and squelching, but on top of it you hear the wet pop of the pustules, and when it tries to talk it sounds gargled.

  • The only killers I frequently don't have fun against are:

    • Wesker
    • Chucky
    • Clown

The remaining roster I actually find fun to face.

Those 3 are so boring to me and just offer uninteresting gameplay. I can see why others might like them, but they just don't do it for me.

  • Honestly, all those changes (except the CoH change) are really nice actually. If boons get used more, I can see myself running Shattered Hope more. Would definitely be a nice change.

  • Oh 100% I would love to see that.

I can imagine walking around as a small artillery unit, or using it with Insidious to hide in crevices waiting for survivors. It would be fun to mess around with.

  • @Ohyakno said:

First one is good. Second one is overkill.

But hey, this is probably what they'll end up doing. They love double nerfing.

Yeah, probably. But I think the main frustration point around it for survivors isn't the information given, it's the fact they can't counteract it reliably.

  • I think the most recent buff to Machine Learning was a decent step forward. The only changes I would suggest for it is that you can compromise multiple gens at once and you don't need to kick gens twice.

It would make the perk more consistent by far.

  • @SkeletonDance said:

I wonder what devs want to change about Plague and Pinhead. Plague is completely fine as it is, but Pinhead could use some buff to his chain projectile

Probably something similar to Dredge where they reduce her noise. The voices and whispers during Corrupt Purge can be way too loud sometimes.

This completely removes the great synergy between Franklins and Weave but most importantly you literally gutted Weave lmao. By the time an item has 0 charges it’s going to be in the corner of the map.

If you take Franklins, waiting 90 seconds for an item to lose charges so your Weave activates is insane. And if you don’t have Franklins you basically rely on survivors to always deplete their items instead of just 99 them thus making Weave completely useless and lock it to always being used with Franklins.

Aura reveal on dropped items is the only fair change.

The current "instant value" synergy between WA and Franklins is likely why it is getting changed in September/October regardless.
It doesn't remove the synergy at all, Franklin's still makes the dropped item lose charges it just now takes longer for it to set up. Plus it takes 90 seconds to FULLY deplete an item, so if the item has been used, say like on a gen or healing or finding totems etc. it takes even less time.

People can 99 their items now vs WA anyway. I understand that the thought of a perk being rendered useless via a Survivor making a conscious effort to not fully use an item and making sure it is away from everyone seems like it would be bad, but it isn't. Currently, survivors only counterplay to the Perk Combo is hoping you were the one with the item and remembering where you got hit first.

The perk still functions fine on it's own, as the vast majority of the time survivors wouldn't drop depleted items unless WA forced them to. It still functions with Franklin's, it just requires time. Plus, if you are worried about survivors getting their item back, you can see the item before they can through WA/FD aura reveal, you'll know where they are going and if they pick it up, they are oblivious from WA.

Even if the only change to the perk is allowing Survivors to see the item that they are revealed by, it should be fine.

On this, I'd like to clarify that revisiting recently release Killers is a normal part of the process. It doesn't not mean that there will be significant changes regardless of if they're necessary, it can be smaller adjustments and quality of life improvements as well.

We'll share more on each of the things listed here when they're a little closer.

    Ahh ok, thank you.

  • Nothing about the Unknown needs changing, I don't know what you're tweaking.

  • I hope to see some buffs and QoL for the Dredge.

  • WA's aura reading if for ANY item on the ground, including if a survivor drops it themselves without Franklin's or depletion. The perks are working as intended.

  • I like the Insta hit of FOTD because it rewards good positioning and timing on the killer's side. But it feels awful to go against as survivor.

    It's tricky.

    Exactly this.

People do not want to accept that killer is largely a role where you choose your own difficulty. If you play chill, you'll win about 60% of your games, but if you stack quad slowdown you'll win almost all of your games for a while (boosting your MMR) and then every game will be a tremendous sweat fest... while still winning about 60% of your games.

At this point though, a depressingly large number of posts on these boards are people who used broken meta perks, or overtuned base kit mechanics like camping and tunneling to temporarily win more and inadvertently boost their MMR. So most games are a 'struggle' simply because they've overextended themselves and are playing against opponents that are better than they are.

I agree with you that killers can choose their own difficulty, but how the survivors play isn't up to the killer. I try to play chill and the game goes by too fast because the survivors want to do their own thing too, whether that be escape or chase.

You can absolutely play this game in a chill way, but you won't get kills the majority of the time. Killers HAVE to kill, it's just the job, there is nothing properly chill about it. Nobody wants to lose, and in order for a killer to "win", 2-3 survivors need to lose. 8 hooking and letting escape is a strategy, but some people find it uninteresting and a waste of the game and something you have to go out of your way for.

The most fun part of this game is the chase, but that the majority of the time is a 1v1. Leaving 3 survivors with nothing to do besides gens and the occasional hex totem.

Yes, there are people that run full meta slowdown and drag the game out, but these perks allow the killer more time.

The main point of my post is that the game can go by so fast without slowdown perks UNLESS I play in a less relaxed way, which I don't like doing. Having a build that rewards me for chases and helps the game last longer, it feels good. Yes the perks aren't as fun to use, but I play the game for the killers, not the perks.

  • @apathyinc said:

If you keep winning matches with full slowdown perks, you are going to have a bad time when you try to go back to more "fun" builds. I find it's best to let MMR do its job based on the builds I like to run. If I'm losing, it probably means that I went to a skill level above where I should be with how I like to play.

I get that MMR can help me have better games, but for now I'm just enjoying the matches lasting longer win or lose. I know I'm not gonna win every single one, but just being in game for longer is what I am looking for.

  • @bazarama said:

    Have to agree

I recently played clown and getting hooks with only pop equipped doesn't slow the game down enough.

Survivors don't need to be good at loops as long as they can efficiently do gens with perks and toolboxes then they fly.

Game was over so quickly after only 5 hooks.

I don't play to win so don't tunnel etc but I want to play longer because clown is a,fun killer.

Gens are way too fast with decent survivors.

    @Tzimiscelord said:

I would love to have a decent neft in all gen regression perks in exchange for longer gen times as basekits and/or better gen regression in the basekit.

    Generators fly.

As killer, i feel forced to start chases and be ruthless from the very beginning, least i find myself with 2 generators left on my second hook if i try to play in a relaxed way.

Yeah gen speeds are an issue, but I don't think the best way to deal with the issue is extend gen times because that is the most boring part of survivor gameplay.

If they could something more interactive that could extend the game that would be more ideal than making survivors hold a button for longer.

  • I like builds that work together well.

I've been mainly playing Unknown and Singularity recently and have been trying a bunch of different perks together:

    For Singularity:

    • Rapid Brutality: Speed
    • Unbound: Speed
    • Unforeseen: Undetectable
    • Nowhere to Hide: Aura Reading

    For the Unknown:

    • Unforeseen: Undetectable
    • Machine Learning: Undetectable + Speed
    • I'm All Ears: Aura Reading
    • Hex: Two Can Play: Funny Perk

    Or

    • Friends 'Til The End: Aura Reading + Exposed + Scream + Obsession Swap
    • Furtive Chase: Undetectable + Speed
    • Rancor: Reveals Survivors + Exposed/Kill Obsession
    • I'm All Ears: Aura Reading

I mainly enjoy perks that allow me to play as a stealth killer and perks that give me information to start chases or during chases. I don't really care for perks that are based on regression.

  • And for the Unknown and Singularity too.

  • I really hope we get more monster killers, they have such cool designs.

It happens often enough for me to question it.

I still don't think it should be able to teleport during the dispel process if dispelling them is such a crucial requirement from the survivors.

The thing is, it's like Dredge or Demo teleport. Making it so when a survivor gets caught out trying to remove their traversal (Dredge locks and Demo Seal) they stop the ability fully, it would be too strong on the survivors side.

I know the Unknown's tp is instant, but if he rolls the dice and happens to stop a survivor, it be what it be.

The joke of those old comedy shows was "haha funny man in dress" which itself is a joke based in transphobia. I'm not saying you yourself are "A Transphobe" but you might want to stop and reanalyze what's funny about that joke.

On a personal level, I think the Eyeless Woman skin is great, the cheerleader one though definitely reads too much like a gross charicature, especially with the exaggerated underbite that also ends up reading as an ableist charicature. I earnestly think it needs an entire rework, it's on a similar (though less extreme) vibe to the Claudette mask for Bubba; even if the skin was made innocently, the ways the skin can be used needs BHVR's direct intervention asap.

Fair play, guess I'm not that in touch with things as I thought.

  • @Nos37 said:

The counterplay to The Unknown is too obnxious.

It's a tradeoff, I get it. Either let the killer have good map control or give the killer free passive game slowdown trying to dispel.

Here's the thing. It's not just good map control, it's stupidly strong and oppressive map control. Dispelling is often a MUST. Now add on top of that minutes of blindness and/or exhaustion every time you dispel (thanks to addons). Now get interrupted and immediately lose a health state because the killer pushed a button. (How does the killer know WHEN I'm dispelling and WHICH hallucination I'm interacting with??)

If hallucinations are going to remain such a strong mechanic, then remove the Unknown's ability to teleport to hallucinations that are being actively dispelled. 🤦‍♂️

The Killer doesn't "know" when and where you're dispelling, it's just bad luck or good guesses.

The thing people are latching on to is that these are non-set locked cosmetics, so you can have the cheerleader body with the masculine face or vice versa. It's not transphobia, the creature doesn't understand what humans are supposed to look like and is barely holding the shell together.

    Ahh ok.

I thought it was cool that the cosmetics weren't linked. I like seeing a balding man in old lady clothes. Reminds me of old comedy shows. And also shows how hard the Unknown is trying to look human. And it means I can use a different weapon to the Axe.

Even in game, it doesn't know how to breathe normally, instead it grunts in pain.

  • I don't think I'm getting the full understanding of the points being made.

What I know about the Unknown is that it presents itself as whatever a person thought it would look like. The base model we have is a contorted skin suit it wears to taunt and lure people in. The skins are just it wearing a different skinsuit.

You're issue with the skins, from my understanding (correct me if I am wrong), is that you believe that the tattered and distorted body of the Unknown is too 'masc-coded' for the Cheerleader outfit because it comes off as transphobic? Or that it presents some form of Trans Stereotype?

If that were the case, I don't think BHVR would have made the skins, they have been quite open about their support of the LGBT community. I think they learnt their lesson from the Bubba masks in which they want to avoid giving bigots ammunition to harass people.

Also, I would not have known the Unknown had a trans VA had I not been on this post. The more you know.

I for one, like the skins and the fact that I can mix and match the bodies and weapons (like the Dredge, my best boi). If it does become an issue, then we can almost assure that they will amend it, but for now I think you might be reading into it a bit too much.

As far as Trans rep in DBD goes, the only thing we have for it is the Tubarão skin for Renato (the Transgender defender from Rainbow Six Siege)

If anything I have said is wrong or I missed a point, feel free to tell me.

They could probably make it so that The Unknown desperately tries to disguise as the survivors by wearing their clothes, could be a cool alternative for making unlockable cosmetics like the Bubba masks.

I really hope they do that they do something like this. Unfortunately, if they make a Claudette skin for the Unknown, there will be the racist nerdnecks that will use it to harass black streamers/players like they did with Bubba, which got the masks removed in the first place.

It's kind of fascinating how the character who is a manifestation of all these different myths about its own existence is being derided for not being like the story the community made up in their heads. It feels fitting, even if it's a little annoying how insistent some people are that the devs can't have intended something else for the character than what the community thought it would be.

One of the Addons (Obscure Game Cartridge) refers to a in development video game code named 'Project Apple-Pie'. This was the code name given to the project of the Unknown, when the Devs were making it.

This means that the Unknown has taken this form in lore because the Devs thought it should in our world.

Little 4th wall break is cool.

  • Yeah, I do think it should have some change to make it so that it can't mark the previous obsession.

  • Someone had this idea earlier this week. A lot of people complain about killers running 5 slowdown perks, which is unfortunately what a good portion of players would do.

For me, I would be able to have my (almost) perfect build; Brutal Strength, Rapid Brutality, Nowhere to Hide, Unforeseen, and then a perk that changes depending on how I'm feeling:

    • Friends till the end; just so I can find my next survivor easier
    • Ultimate Weapon; guilty pleasure
    • Gift of Pain: Until the upcoming nerf, was one of my favourite slowdown perks, and is the only slowdown I use
    • BBQ and Chilli: Always an amazing perk

Unfortunately, the game is balanced around 4 perks, so adding a 5th would require a lot of balance changes.

  • I would like a 5th perk slot. Rapid Brutality, Brutal Strength, Nowhere to Hide, Unforeseen and Friends till the end would be such a fun perk combo for me.

  • TBH I want more Giant Killers. I like Nemesis and Dredge for that reason. Being a hulking mass is just really fun. Especially when you run Oblivious or Undetectable perks, it is just a nice experience.

  • I like the change to Bloodhound, I enjoy playing hit and run killers and having this would be awesome perk.

Shadowborn would be a cool change, would work great with Furtive Chase and Tinkerer or Machine Learning (buff my boi). But could also be a good pseudo info perk, as it would tell you when a survivor is within 16m.

As for beast of prey, I had an idea where either a new perk or Rapid Brutality would grant bloodlust when OUTSIDE of chase. This would help low mobility killers traverse the map and killers who use their powers to move (blight, nurse, spirit), apply pressure (knight, artist) or killers that can't gain bloodlust while in power (Ghostface, Oni, Legion) would not be able to use this perk effectively as they would be forced to not use their power for extended periods of time in order to actually gain the stacks of bloodlust. It could then be paired with Beast of Prey to make these killers use 2 perk slots to become pseudo stealth killers, because in my opinion, I have the most fun when I don't know where the killer is and I actually have to be aware.

  • They said that, during development, Facehuggers were immediately not in discussion for the kit because there would be no proper way to make them work, besides traps.

  • @LeChonké said:

1.025 X 115% = 117.875% . . . killers would be 17.9% faster than survivors for the entire duration of the match. That would be beyond game-breaking just on it's own. It would be the most meta M1-killer perk in the history of the game. MadeForThis all over again XD.

I think it would be unwise, personally.

    I thought the math of the game was it's +5% as a flat amount. So 100% + 5%= 105% (4.2m/s)

So killers that are 110% move at 4.4m/s, so adding 5% (0.2m/s) would make them 115% (4.6m/s). That's what Huntress' Iri addon does, I don't see where you're getting the multiplicative from when it's adding 5%.

  • @Devil_hit11 said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3606545#Comment_3606545

I rather they added a 2.5% haste bonus permanently for equipping the perk. It would be good perk where you can use this perk instead of bloodlust and if you hit someone, you get 5% haste for 10 seconds.

The perk would read something like following:

    ============================

You move with a speed and fury that makes blood run cold.

You no longer gain bloodlust Status Effect.

    Grants 2.5% haste status effect.

Successfully hitting a Survivor with a Basic Attack grants you a +5 % haste Status Effect for 8/9/10 sec

    ===============

right now the upside is not rewarding enough and downside is not worth playing into.

Unless they get huge amounts of mobility 5 % don't really change much... 5% is 20cm/s additional... So to take even one second longer to traverse the map as 4.4 vs 4.6 m/s you would need to walk for like 20 seconds... which is like 90+ m, I don't even know which maps are big enough for that much walking... Think about it in 10 seconds the 4.4 killer moves 44 m, while the 4.6 killer moves 46 m... the difference is only 2 m, which takes less than half a second to move for the 4.4 killer... So to be even 1 tiny second slower you would need to walk 20 seconds, as stated before... The difference is really not that big when it is about pure map traversal... Ofc catching up to survivors is another story, but this is not what you were on about.

To make this whole thing worthwhile you would need to add massive amounts of bonus speed, which would result in immense potential for abuse in chasing survivors, basically moonwalking to no enter chase and be 150 % or something stupid like that.

Bloodlust stacks up to 3x. So it's not a simple +5%, it would ramp up to be a +15% after about 35 seconds. It would give non-mobility killers a helping hand with their map presence, while not being too strong in chase, and more mobile killers won't be able to use it.

  • I had an idea of where RB would make it so killers stack Bloodlust OUTSIDE of chase, allowing slower killers the ability to traverse the map easier, but mobility killers wouldn't be affected by this as their abilities cancel bloodlust. And it would finally make Beast of Prey usable lmao.

But then I thought, that rework would just be better off as a separate perk.

  • Me and my Boi chilling in Xeno's tunnels while we let 8 survivors do gens.

I wouldn't actually say it "upsets me," does it get annoying sometimes? Sure. I use it on Huntress often enough myself, but I also can't cross the map at mach speed. But I can sympathize with others who dislike it because they're entitled to dislike it if they want, and frankly its not just a few people who have an issue with these perks on certain killers. My comment was just a proposed change that only effects the the more problematic aspect (and most common complaint) of both the perks without gutting them completely. They can both be tweaked into a state that still makes them great choices for all killers, without them being busted on others.

Yeah, I get that. I didn't mean "upset" in a way like it makes you sad, more like it can be frustrating. It's a fair criticism, being a walking radar after kicking a gen can be really strong in a good number of situations, and some killers can use this more effectively than others; Dredge, Nurse, Blight. However, as it is like other info perks, it tends to be higher tier killers that can use these more effectively than lower tier ones because of their base kit, leading to the problem lying with the killer itself rather than being solely on the perk.

As far as info perks go, NTH is reliable and incentivises killers to spend time kicking gens which a lot of killers don't do all that often anymore, relying on Pain Res or Jolt and the like to passively slow the game down. It's like with Friend's Till The End, a great perk incentivising killers to play in a more 'fair' way, but people are wary of the fact that mobility killers can use this perk more effectively, but when it comes down to it, the only real time you'll see FTTE or NTH come in to real play is if it's used to catch survivors who are out of position or trying to hide close by, and usually if the survivor is smart enough, they would realise that this perk is in play and play around it by; not crouching next to the gen as it gets kicked or when they are the obsession not getting too overly confident when the killer is about to hook someone. With the few edge cases of mobility killers being able to make better use of the perks, they are currently fine as is in my opinion, but I see your point and OP's point as valid regardless.

This is what I've been saying for NTH and even Ultimate, both of these perks only start to get ridiculous on killers who can cross large distances with ease. If both of these perks just stuck to the point of activation they would remain usable but are no longer as easy to abuse.

If the range moving is what upsets you, try it with LP on Dredge :) I love that combo.

If insidious was the "lethal pursuer" of undetectable then it would apply to powers.

Lethal Pursuer doesn't apply to non-duration based aura reveals. That's what I was saying, not that it wouldn't affect them at all. For example, LP applies to the reveal on Hex: FtD, but DOESN'T apply to A Nurse's Calling because the former has a Duration of 2 seconds which can be extended by LP, but Nurse's Calling isn't duration based so LP doesn't affect it.

If Insidious worked similar to LP, it would only increase Duration based Undetectable. So for example, Skull Merchant's and Demogorgon's base kit undetectable would be extended as they only last a given duration (8 seconds and 3 seconds respectively). But Killers like Ghost Face or Wraith, whose powers aren't duration based, wouldn't be extended as there is no "duration" to extend.

  • @Dreamnomad said:

5 seconds doesn't sound like much but that could really be an issue with a killer like Skull Merchant and Wraith who can go in and out of stealth easily. If it only applied to perks then I don't think it should be too much of a problem. Maybe if it was 2 or 3 seconds would be more balanced.

I think if it were to apply to powers, it would only apply to Duration based Undetectable. So with Skull Merchant it would apply the extension, but Wrath and Ghostface wouldn't be able to use it, as there is no time limit/duration on their undetectable.

It was put in the game back when Object of Obsession was strong as, and the survivor could hide their aura with the locker while still seeing and calling out the killer's location to teammates. Object of Obsession has been nerfed since then.

Meanwhile, killers like Alien and Demogorgon can see auras while underground, so the argument that "oh, well survivors have limited view because they're INSIDE a locker" does not work.

Now that it's mentioned, I think the reason Survivors get blindness inside a locker is because the Killer can't see that survivor's aura, so the reverse is true too.
