I think the targeting is usually just bad luck. I have this same not very interesting name on my PS account. I'm currently wearing the flashiest cosmetic I've ever worn and, if anything, I've had way more mercy from killers since putting it on. My instances of mercy have been on a hard decline since the finisher mori came out but I've had at least 5 mercy hatches or killers who turned goofy after the first two kills in the last couple days. I think it's my overall silliness, because I'm not just dressed loud, I'll also Plot Twist right in front of them. A lot of people can't seem to resist that, and neither can I as killer. If you're funny I'm gonna let you live.

I got tunneled while in a 4-man on comms (we are 0% sweaty) by an Oni recently. My whole team was chasing him to try to help me, and he seemed to do it solely to use his mori offering. I had a match once were the killer was cool with everyone but me and he messaged me after to tell me it was because I was the only one using female character. Lord knows what other silly reasons people make up in their head. I've seen people say they let the person with the best outfit live. We have actual fashion police as killers.

I agree about the vials. Opacity back up, a couple more charges, and adjust them for consistency. That seems to be the reasonable majority view. Only a few people who exclusively play killer seem to feel otherwise. I'm trying to enjoy both sides, and the fog vials let me go full on meme-build clown.

If these recent events tell us anything, all the hard work they're put into whatever their building to combat tunneling and slugging will probably get immediately nerfed into oblivion anyway.

Yeah at the end of the day its randomness of people, i just had bad luck believe it or not againts oni, blight, clown, vecna, ghoul.

That decide to tunnel even tho there is no need for it there was 4 gens left the 1st one took well over a minute.

Today i had dracula match in, rpd i was doing gens entire match and he hooked all in basement and then i was only one left, i just tried to be silly and lead him to that room with the board and started to pretend im writting stuff and told him to sit behind and then we nodded he let me live 🤣

It depended on the situation. I'm not the annoying flashlight-clicking sort that goes charging after the killer, but if someone is getting hard tunneled I will do my best to take a hit or a down for them.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/1V0EXAJT4F0K/198a1b897cd76-screenshoturl.jpg

I posted this screenshot a little ways up as an example of their inconsistent opacity by map, but the HUD here also happens to be an example of that usage. The Taurie had been unhooked and was back in chase immediately. I could see her above me with Empathy, so I popped the vial on the floor below in hopes that it would spread enough to help. I was on a nearby gen, so it made sense to make the most minor of efforts.

In regards to your follow-up, I agree that it's situational. If your doing some bs like constantly chasing me or bodyblocking every chase I initiate, then yeah, I'll get rid of you. If someone gets unhooked and they try to sabo or hop right back on a gen while injured then yeah, I'll down them again, because they've reenaged with the game instead of running off to heal. My definition of tunneling is actively pursuing a recently unhooked survivor because you want to quickly remove some unlucky and randomly chosen person. I've been that unlucky person, and have had matches where I never even got to touch a gen and got like 5000BP. It sucks.

Same with slugging. Downing someone and then going after someone who's right nearby makes sense. I just expect the killer to come back quickly though, not just leave me there. Downing multiple people at 5gens because you just don't want to play the game is not okay.

Organized parties are also a different situation then hapless soloqers. I assess each team by their behavior. If everyone is acting foolish, then my own ethics are proabably gone.

But I also don't think I've ever seen a full team of gen builds. It's usually one person (I'm that person). Sweaty parties usually have DH, DS, Unbreakable, iri medkits, etc.

I'm also all for slowing down gen progress if it will prevent hard tunneling and lengthy slugs. If that's the balance then fine.

Yeah i get matches where i get 11-20k bp just because i got tunneled.

Not sure why since im on PS5 and my name is nothing fancy or means anything, my skin is fine too like its paid skins who the hell doesnt have at least one.

Like i know the pain i understand it, that needs to go away no questions asked.

Thats the way i play killer too, fully situational i play for ranking up my grades to max iri if and when possible.

Ive been lately just annoyed due to my matches where when they see i play michael and i dont run the usual tomb build they start playing goofy and irritating where they would just instantly go for these insane hook sabotages and flashlight saves (i stopped running lightborn as no value)

I dont even run corrupt or lethal for that matter i focus on running non meta perks that makes michael be enjoyable with vanity mirror + dead rabbit.

But people seem to fully get salty at me in the start of match they pop a gen every match now in matter of 30 seconds, thats usually where i start to be more aware where the game is heading and i refuse for the match to end in matter of 5 minutes when i waited in the Queue for 10 minutes for example.

Also i do agree with you the fog opacity got a unjustified nerf just because of how lightning and shadow engine work in game because no joke i voted for a nerf because it looked like that for me lol but i realized too late like many here its just a bug.

It should be brought back to baseline opacity and prolly given 3 to 4 charges or make it infinite again, the iri addons for it no they should stay as they are.

Uhh im mainly concerned in what way will tunneling be removed since everyone is on same page here that people tunneling right off the start is just full blown scummy where the squad is not even doing anything fancy againts you.

by fancy i mean where for the majority of match they are nowhere to be seen and complete gens really fast like abnormally (which is fine hey let them run those builds but i dont like my matches taking so short).

  • And FYI i dont endorse extreme tunneling either people targetting you due to name, brought offering, ping, skin outfit.

Even the extreme tunneling where the killer is just fully determined to tunnel survivor by survivor and completely ignoring gen breaking or injuring others.

That is not okay i never said it was.

What even is genrushing though? I've never understood this concept. Like what else are the survivors supposed to do at the start of the match but hop on gens? Sure you can bring a gen build to speed it up, but most people don't. If the killer doesn't apply enough pressure universally and instead gets sucked into one hopeless chase, then yeah, gens get done. If built-in slowdown is needed, then there needs to be some sort of mini-objective at the start, like when Pig uses add-ons for immediate RBT or Wesker starts survivors already infected. They could also make it so gens taking longer at the beginning and the needed charges reduce with each completed gen.

But thats the issue, that doing gens and healing are part of the game, but tunneling and slugging are tactics that players came up with on their own. It never even occurred to me to do either when I was exclusively playing killer. Then I started playing survivor and saw how dirty everyone else played.

With your same ideology what else should a killer do if gens are being finished before they even spread hook states to not "tunnel".

Should the killer just be like oh okay thats fine ill just do my thing and not bother eliminating players that are popping gens.

And dont tell me "just run corrupt or lethal" because then we are going into territory of 4 players with 4 perks for each player which is 16 perks by the way, and there is only one killer, why should i run the meta perks that ruin the general fun of gameplay and change up how my killer behaves

It never even occurred to me to do either when I was exclusively playing killer. Then I started playing survivor and saw how dirty everyone else played.

Killing is part of the game and tunneling is just another word of killing in a special way rather than delaying killing, killers have a choice to delay fully putting survivor to dying state or not fast or slow depends on pace of game.

Like i will be brutally honest with you, i resort to tunneling the said player that is fully asking for attention and heat instead of doing gens and sabotaging my way of playing which is originally spreading hooks to evenly spread out BP and end match results.

It is waaaay more common in high mmr by high mmr im saying 75%+ WR on killer is where the dbd system starts putting you againts squads that resort doing gens in matter of 30 seconds.

By the time i find them the 1st gen is already finished and they rotated.

Now if i were to drop i would obviously get the said survivors that dont do that and take 60+ seconds to even do first gen.

Like where does that term even come from tunneling if we are going to do that, since you said "where does term gen rush come from"

Both are indentical sides of same coin but each side is different, so gen rushing is when the squads focus on running optimal builds (toolboxes) to rush gen before the killer finds them unless (lethal or corrupt).

And tunneling is in THE SAME category as gen rushing by the way, what else should a killer do if the gens are being popped the killer has to apply pressure and start killing by doing its own kill rush.

If you want ill call it rushed killing.

  • Lets get some things straight the reason why majority of people called it op is because they did not play through with it, the iri addons were strong, and baseline fog vial has lightning opacity issues on maps causing it to actually be broken and op.

I'd guess they gave it infinite charges cause they knew it was mid to begin with, and limits like these wouldn't have convinced people to drop medkits long enough to even try it. It's not as though people were randomly popping them off every minute. I'd use it maybe 4 or 5 times max, usually to cover someone's unhook dash to try to prevent tunneling.

I would use it mainly like 3 times honestly, like being realistic i need to do gens and not focus on just saving

Honey, more than half the killer roster has been buffed in the past two years — and guess what? The way most killers play hasn’t changed one bit.

You want to talk imbalance? Let’s talk about how a huge chunk of the killer player base would rather tunnel, camp, and slug than actually play the match. That’s not “pressure,” that’s just skipping the game.

And about items — survivors use them to try to stay alive in a role where one player is always outnumbered 1v4. The killer already has map control, instant information on hook states, and now more slowdown tools than ever. Acting like toolboxes or medkits are “insane value” while ignoring the fact that wasting a killer’s time is literally the point of the survivor role just shows how different our definitions of “balance” are.

You could buff every killer to be twice as strong, even four times stronger, and it wouldn’t matter — because the real problem isn’t numbers, it’s the mindset.

So if we’re talking balance… maybe we should start with how the game is actually being played.

See the issue is, both survivor and killer have one main goal, do gens and escape, kill and prevent the gens to be finished before they get finished.

There is no general rule how it should be played but if you want to be neutral like really neutral and root for both sides to get improved gameplay you should start seeing gen rushing + heal rush same as tunneling, slugging is toxic to certain extent i think leaving downed survivor temporary to down 2nd one that was trying to go for sabotage is fine but leaving all players on ground to bleed and hold game hostage is toxic yes.

Like if we want to be fair here and even grounds the game is flawed since majority of people in higher mmr run gen rush builds and know map tiles and punish u for spreading hooks instead of tunneling best player in team to make it easier.

Look at the streamers they are "pro tunnel" in high mmr when its needed when the gens are popping fast to relieve pressure.

those said streamers tunnel and nobody complains in chat.

Like if we talk about extreme tunneling where u go from one to second survivor tunneling then third and then last survivor then thats extreme tunneling.

I hope everyone on dev team is aware if they fully remove tunneling then the game is pretty much going to be 2 kills max for m1 killers and ability killers it wont change so much as they can still go for 3 kills.

It doesn't matter if the item isn't used or if it's weak compared to others; no item should have unlimited uses.

Let's say you have 3 chases in a match, and thanks to the Fog Vial, you managed to escape twice. You've already achieved 5 chases in that match, what more do you want?

And again ill rather take 5 chases or more as long as they dont run toolbox gen rush builds and focus on different plays.

Like i did not mention in my post im sitting at 78% WR on myers and my games are just infested with people doing 4 medkits or 4 toolboxes or 3 of each and 1 flashlight.

I saw briefly before all fog vial nerfs them running 1 fog vial in each next match i played it was fun it was challenging i think fog vial is unique experience especially againts myers that pops out through fog vial and chases u and then downs

I see your point but same goes for toolboxes with built to last perk or actually any item of that matter?

Like why not just then make fog vial recharge like any other item.

Also fog vial in my opinion never worked that well, you have to time it so superb in a chase even before chase starts to escape killer, if he is close by and has LOS on you nearby he will see your initial movement and track it.

Plus it doesnt really "hide" scratches or blood properly because it shows initial scratch marks and i believe blood you can still track.

It needs to be returned to its original state, hard stop. Opacity should only be changed once the bugs involving lighting and differing fog opacity depending on map are fixed, as only then will anyone be able to correctly discern what is the intended opacity and whether or not it makes it too difficult for killers to maintain tracking after it is popped.

This should be tested in multiple trials across multiple maps with multiple killers and perk combinations. Here's a few examples that should be tested in every arrangement:

    • indoor vs outdoor maps
    • outdoor maps with low walls on loops (Azarov's Resting Place) vs outdoor maps with high walls (Coldwind Farm)
    • small loops (cars on Haddonfield/Badham) vs large loops (jungle gyms)
    • multiple floors (Haddonfield, Hawkins, Forgotten Ruins, Badham, using a Fog Vial to escape into the basement)
    • how do Fog Vials interact with Iron Will, Lightfooted, Lucky Star, Self-Preservation, Parental Guidance, Hardened, etc etc
    • how do Fog Vials interact with Stridor, Whispers, Spies, Phantom Fear, Face the Darkness, etc etc
    • how do they interact with Spirit and Bat Form Dracula
    • how do they interact with Killer Instinct killers like Legion or Twins
    • how do they interact with third person killers like Dog Form Dracula
    • how do they interact with small killers like Chucky and Victor
    • how do they interact with Singularity's cameras
    • how do they interact with Springtrap's office auras, or if they even should
    • have 4 survivors use Fog Vials near the Lament Configuration. make a Pinhead player try to find it anyways.
    • how do they affect stalking killers, like Michael and Ghostface, and should they interact with the reveal mechanic for Ghostface and Unknown
    • will Fog Vials prevent you from getting hit by Hellfire, Punishment of the Damned, and Nurse blinks, or will players need other options for these?
    • how does Oblivious status effects make survivors act with Fog Vials?
    • if a Fog Vial becomes like a flashbang (a temporary item), will survivors use it in tandem with flashlights most often, or will they use strong items still?
    • do they block universal auras, like a revealed Springtrap? Should they? This will effect Skull Merchant's universal aura reveal mechanic as well.
    • do they block killer prop auras, especially ones that move like Nemesis's zombies and Knight's guards? Should they?
    • do they block locker auras for Huntress and Trickster? Should they?
    • test with survivors who are loud when injured, like Feng, Soma, Rebecca, Bill, and Michonne
    • test with survivors who are quiet while injured, like Ace and Ada
    • test with survivors with quiet footsteps, like Renato
    • test with survivors who have loud footsteps, like Ada on indoor maps
    • test various survivors of varying outfit color (note how the 5 survivors listed in the loud while injured section have wildly different outfit palettes) and on various different maps. Will Soma blend in better with a Fog Vial on Ormond or Eyrie, and will he benefit more from his Deep Rift cosmetic? Will Bill blend in with Yamaoka's foliage or Haddonfield's bushes with a Fog Vial? Now swap the two - how do they fare? Bill may blend in better with his anni cosmetic on Ormond Lake Mine, while Soma may benefit from Deep Rift around the Yamaoka shack and Myers house, but would it be even better with a Fog Vial?

Once all of this is done internally, release it to live in a unique "hey we are testing Fog Vials HERE" queue with the same caveat of "once you queue you cannot change survivor" that killer has, and treat it like a event queue. This ensures mass participation for all types of players to guarentee maximum feedback. Make it a similar event to Shirt My Survivor, maybe, and have dev accounts running through the queue to ask PC players for feedback live in end game and pregame chats.

Is this a lot of work for a item they won't get paid boatloads of cash for putting in the game (same excuse for why maps are made less)? Yes. Will it be good for the game nonetheless? Yes!!

Oh yeah definantly honestly the original state needs to come back, like i believe hard 100% reason why people demanded a "nerf" (including myself) was because of lightning bug in maps.

And everything you stated needs to be confirmed too by devs

This is basically how I feel, but from the other end of the tier list. Fog Vials won no matches against my Billy, but flashlights and toolboxes won a majority of them.

Fog vial needs to be returned in its original state (minus opacity) since in "some" cases its a bit too much with addons, the opacity needs a middle ground of current and original state.

Right now people just running medkits and such

Funny how 60 seconds on a Fog Vial is too oppressive but free Survivor tracking from Phantom Fear is fine. Making the Fog Vial limited is overkill.

Okay one is a perk the other one is an item.

I get it and we here get your point but stick to the topic because fog vial needa to help promote other item meta gameplay than just gen rushing

  • @ThatRyanB said:

I totally hear the frustration here and know I personally can't change how these nerfs feel for you, but I do want to make sure the feedback I'm bringing back to the team is as specific as possible and as representative of your experiences in the game as possible. With that, it makes it easier to advocate for changes.

If you don't mind me pulling this back a step to dig into the details, I'd like to ask two specific questions:

    1. Of the two recent nerfs to Fog Vials (reduced opacity; max 2 charges), do you feel that one of these in particular pushed the item from feeling viable to feeling like it's not worth using? If so, which was it?
    2. If you could make one specific change to Fog Vials that'd push them towards being an item you'd enjoy using, what would it be?

I hear the more general feedback (and rest assured, it's being collected and shared with the team), but if there are specific facets of the recent nerfs that felt most impactful, I want to make sure I'm giving them my particular attention. That, and things that could make Fog Vials feel better for you (like the great suggestions of increasing the total charges a little more).

Uhh soo for me it goes this way:

    1. The most recent one would be this one if i had to pick between opacity and charges ir would be charges of course since when i run fog vial its technically "harmless" when u compare it to toolboxes and medkits that can be recharged with perks in closet.
    2. If the fog vial could go back to its original state with finitive uses or be rechargable with the same perk people use to recharge other items while in closet, and second change would be to just make opacity be a middleground between how it used to be and newest one

I generally think fog vial is awesome to use againts killers that rely on BBQ and other aura reading perks from far away and just generally gain advantage from that (you still needed to time it with fog vial and not just deply it).

With current changes it would fully remove the ability to use it for those scenarios and such

I bless the Entity for being in a matchmaking place with like 15-60 seconds killer queues.

Honestly it is not just toolboxes that are an issue - it is the whole gen rush meta. I don't run Gen slowdown perks so my perspective may be biased, but making gens take longer to fix would benefit the game

Fog vial was the ticket to the right direction, now sadly the hype train is over and hate train begins and people returning to their gen rush builds, every match now is stake out, hyperfocus with toolboxes and recharging them.

Like idk at this point, i just know ill take full prior changed fog vial even if they buffed that on top than a squad using these gen rush builds and toolboxes or medkits

  • Either way i said what i said, sad reality is this item could have been a golden ticket to proper ratio of items maybe even pull the survivors away from using gen rush builds and just go for fog vials instead.

Like so many possibilities with fog vial as an item would be possible before prior to these changes, like i loved using it againts BBQ perk since it helped me and my buddy or a random to do gens in silent mode and not be spotted.

  • @LilythGeist said:

I am a killer main and I honestly found Fog Vials mildly annoying at best. The previous batch of nerfs made them mostly perfect IMO as a nifty but not OP tool to help you escape.

Nerfing them to just 2 charges. Naaaw. That needs buffing. Make it like... 5 with add ons to well... Add extra charges. Or vary the number of charges by rarity. Make the use more strategic

Same here, well either way since its now 2 charges how about those charges get refilled after each gen is completed or something, like i dont know at this point, maybe they decided to butcher it because people spammed it and saw in their own stats it was spammed and giving more wins than what it should have.

But in my own experience as playing michael the previous changes were not ruining the experience as a killer or won the survivors a match.

Again i will still stand by the fact toolboxes are the main enemies of this game that harm killer experience for its queue times

  • @ThatRyanB said:

We'll have an update to share on this shortly, but wanted to make sure we kept a focus on the release of this bugfix patch first and foremost. Let's not get ahead of ourselves about not hitting the target, though 😉

Hey i know its a long shot but would you be okay with sending this suggestion further to the team?

So helldivers has a similar event always going around that can be viewed and monitored in real time and it makes it feel wholesome for community to track data in real time in game for the rewards, i think BP reward needs to be way larger than it is to motivate players to conjoin as one to complete it as an event.

And make it a monthly event hunt

  • @ThatRyanB said:

Hey folks. I totally hear your concerns here, but also want to give some background. Balancing is an iterative process that takes time to find a sweet spot, and this is very much another step in that process. To quote one of my favourite fantasy series', "journey before destination".

We 100% want to hear your feedback once you get a chance to play a few Trials with this new change, so please let us know how it's feeling. We're here to grab that feedback and make sure the team is made aware.

I appreciate being active thats something that i value a lot, you show it as a community manager.

My take is that im worried limiting fog vial will promote people to still just stick to gen rushing with toolboxes rather than go for something new even if its prolonging games which it should due to killer queue times.

I found the fog vials to be fully reasonable even with a cooldown and not limited to charges, if anything i think toolboxes as an item need adjustments over fog vials

  • I like it, it promotes people to run perk that refills your items more often than just running pure bully builds which can be even in combo with current items.

These changes also would fit well with upcoming changes to anti tunneling and slugging, maybe some further tweaks.

Myers deserves another unique ability to him that helps him stalk all across the map

  • I do hope they keep the myers ability and add another one which is him putting like a mirage of him that stalks and haunts in tier 1 form.

I also dont mind them fully reworking tombstone iri addons.

I mainly play vanity mirror or scratched for the sneaky jumpscare downs.

Like his stalk ability is what makes him FUN and obsession mechanic which he birthed to the game.

His stalk makes you feel like you are actually hunting the survivors unlike other killers (apart from ghostface)

  • How would a dino carry you to a hook, scourage hook etc

  • I want to trade in my items too like a recycle option for addons and such i dont use

  • Okay good so they actually implementing play while you wait feature i suggested and many others recently.

Should help not stare point blank at the lobby screen

So BHVR did the classic BHVR behavior (😏): they are unable to do a simple thing like find a middle term.
If something is a 10 they go all the way to 1 instead of 5.
Same thing with AFK Crows now. They were too effective and now are useless.

Also in theory they need to totally cleanse a totem to avoid the crows, but who guarantees that this is working as intended and you can indeed stop cleansing a totem multiple times to avoid the crows?

    Thanks guys.😁

I would honestly settle for the effectivness be at 8 even because all it needed was to not be that tight timing.

Like when i play my build with michael (its not tombstone)

The 2 survivor left always hide infinitly and dont do any gens

  • They confirmed that the game has evolved past only being stalking and hiding and chasing is what it evolved to on reddit Q&A.

They didnt confirm whats coming exactly

  • Crows got nerfed because prior ones were apperently working too good because like even not doing gens for 15seconds would give first crow and then not long after 2nd one even if you went to repair.

But i think the system is flawed since people can just hide and there is no literal warning aura for killer

  • I main myers and what i would like about myers is this

  • Same glad the team did not do anything bad or corp issue due to the whole miss-communication.

Ill keep it short about it but im glad you did not lose your roles as you really do answer the "tough'" NDA locked questions indirectly without breaking them.

What stats would you be interested in seeing?

I would personally myself like to see stats related to avg time it takes for survivors to complete all 5 gens and then avg time it takes for killer to hook every single survivor to final hook state, and then as previous user mentioned which killers are top pick and is there more swfs than casual solo q survivors.

Thanks so much if that would be possible!

@taktak1 As long as it comes with a visible anti camp meter for all survivors to see, im all for it.

@Coffee2Go Kindred is more of a QOL addition. Corrupt being basekit would be a buff to all killers. Nothing wrong with that though, since set up killers could use it alot, and those gens across the map where the killer spawned being popped by your solo queue teammates can really hurt your chances of escape, since you're likely gonna 3 gen where you spawned.

Well kindred would buff all survivors too, even though i am doing tests and examples of kindred and just stress testing how casuals behave when they get access to kindred.

Either way both of these baseline kits would be a buff for each of their own.

Although i would not mind baseline corrupt being tweaked and rather corrupt staying as a perk on its own with how it tweaks the baseline corrupt as a mechanic.

So in short u get a baseline corrupt that locks 3 gens further away but not completely locking them away rather make it super extra hard to finish a gen unless 4 people decide to work on it which would be like a improbable scenario.

It wasn't like that with the old system. We all started at 20 and settled into our level. But people started complaining that tryhards were found at levels below 5, and that it was difficult to reach level 1 and maintain that number and have fun in games, and that it also took a long time to find a match. Well, what did they expect? That was precisely the idea: to make it difficult to reach level 1. And those of us who played for fun might not have made it past the level 15, but that didn't matter; we usually had fun matches, and most ended in a tie. But hey, they listened to the tryhards... That's why they created "MMR" and the new system, so you could get into matches faster. They were supposed to make you join people of your level, but unfortunately, they mix you with anyone (it's very noticeable in the skill and time the players have in game).
I was completely against this system from the beginning, but well... now everyone complain that all the public games feel like tournaments. Well yeah, now everyone wants to be tryhard. DBD became LOL And unfortunately, it's noticeable in the community outside of the game. There used to be conflict, it's true, but not with the same intensity as now. I watch funny DBD videos for fun, and now they're always commented on by angry people because of "those toxic survivors/killers." It's a laughable video, and they take it personally. Incredible and ridiculous.

The system has to go back to how it was with moderate to minor changes, SBMM needs to be tuned and the game has to take in concideration the playtime as well.

Im not talking about playtime alone as i know many afk farm but actual playtime of matches all across killers and survivors combined, i think its a bit scummy that mmr is spread out to each individual survivor and killer character instead they should have it combined but not as a final evaluation.

The issue is also that most matches u will get nowadays 2 x 2x seperate duo squads that make it feel like a 4 stack because it technically is a hybrid one, they might not communicate to one another but they do sure play like one.

So hence the entire stats about matchmaking is flawed completely.

Just becuase 4 stacks are not "that common" does not mean people can end up with 2x 2x seperate squads in one lobby that is either harder or tad bit easier but still ruins fun for me as well.

I personally have accumulated total playtime on ps5 almost 400h, out of that most of that is just a combo of both survivor and killer gameplay.

Either way the devs need to do something about the players who play in squads and one or two players have high mmr the rest are low or mid and then they get boosted and it ruins the entire skill based matchmaking.

Look at the other highly skilled mmr killers they literally state the only way to beat the premade stacks is to run meta perks meta killers no way around it no way to have fun with any other build if they will utilize only meta perks.

What does that tell you about the state of "skill based matchmaking"

  • I second this yes if basekit corrupt gets added

  • So ill also ask, do you mean to get responses from killer mains that defend the fog vial or?

Because i main myers and im doing fine its way more enjoyable to hunt in the fog than it is with toolbox meta builds although i still ger people with hyperfocus builds.

You're already doing more than me with perk coordinating. I've never discussed this with anyone. We all bring what we want.

Yeah we do fairly minimal i play on ps5 him and they play on pc so its kinda hard to type mid game but i get your point.

I just try to be supportive but yeah what i want to confirm is i had a friend who played since 2017 and sticked to dbd and had fair share of hours in game.

He used to kinda carry us with escape rates and when i would soloq i would always kinda indirectly suck at the game because my mmr did go sky high and this would go on and on until we stopped playing together

  • @cogsturning said:

I play in parties and we all die constantly. Parties don't mean they're sweaty or a bully squad or even good. It doesn't even mean they're on comms. My parties usually aren't. All that info would tell you is that a lot more people are in parties than you probably thought.

I myself when i play in a party its usually me and my other buddy and i dont have discord i kinda went incognito mode on social media.

So yeah i also play no comms but texting works well but not fast enough but still really well to stack perks and decide which perks

But yeah not always in a party mostly its 90% of matches i run soloq and have 53% escape rate

The thing is with survivor WR the calculation is way different, you need to escape either with hatch or gate.

Meanwhile killer u gotta get 3 kills which is (easier)

  • Okay yeah i fully agree with you on that, i rarely get those type of squads like where its fully full 99% call outs similar to tournament.

It happens probably once a day for me maybe twice but thats usually on large maps + killer pick since i do main myers.

Either way they still do call outs for killer location, which killer it is and such.

When they go for saves etc

I still struggle noticably like it feels so weird to me win 3-4k matches and then next match they are so cordinated i manage to only hook 1 person and they fight so well to save them it stresses me makes me sweat i just wanna come home from work and enjoy a match with michael

Hate to say this, but I genuinely cannot tell what you're arguing in favor of. Are you able to give a tl;dr?

Im siding with OP but also not fully because what he wants would fully terrorize queue times.

What i said is to add a system that would prevent such behavior and unrealistic matchmaking, because i am fully aware what feeling OP has.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/453143/bug-fix-status-update

    This is just embarassing

You're doing more damage than good. The game is dying because of your constant pandering to egotistical cry baby killer mains.

The game is already easy for them and as soon as something new comes along you need it to uselessness to appease them whilst maintaining a miserable survivor experience.

Distortion? Gutted to make it worthless and at the same time add a perk that gives more aura read if you have the audacity to escape a chase.

Fog vials. Weren't even that good but incoming cry means need to useless.

Yet ghoul, clown, mastermind, nemesis, huntress all broken and you leave it as is.

Get a back bone and sort it out or you will kill the game for good

The team on forums has nothing to do with actual final decisions they stated they are messangers and middle-men to send in information.

He literally stated these changes are not final they are literally experimenting the fog vial still.

And killer related they stated they are fully aware but deciding for final decision before pulling the plug on ghoul.

Its eventually coming yeah thats the only downside.

I myself am really happy about the 9.1.1 fixes since recent patch notes ive been fairly miserable.

They are also working on a proper mmr system overhaul to help balance the game so it will be easier to not GUT the perks items and other stuff in game

  • There is no place for a hybrid swf team that is doing a scummy move trying to play with friends who are not that good as them (no offense) but i mean in terms of map knowledge and killer knowledge and call outs and perk knowledge.

Againts a killer that wins their matches because survivor self sabotage or a good map rng.

I came across many squads that DCd in start gave me a win againts BOTS it boosted my mmr and now im stuck with not fun matches

People are doing this without even realizing because SBMM and proper MMR system is not in place, it simply cant be lets be real with that many players being active in game.

  • @4thdslip said:

I have been asking for a way to dodge Clown matches before I can queue into them, so when I get this function in my lobby, I will advocate for yours as well. Together, we can both increase queue times.

I mean here is the thing yes it would increase queue times by a load ton.

My suggestion which was few months ago was to add a system that detects if the said users are in a party and killers wont know this, matchmaking system will detect this and apply lesser stacking values if the system detects oh so this player is playing with those players who usually have a loss streak when they are on their own and if they play in a party i should apply some value changes to them.

Btw this is only if players in the said party are kinda levereging the match by a mile and the killer does not match their winning ratio when in combination, it would be in terms a "nerf" and a lot of people said that this is "punishing for playing with friends" but thats not it, you can still play but if the system detects its kind like gray zone borderline boosting and trying to screw with killer mmr system then it will apply

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

"I want a chill match" means "I want to go against 4 Solos and have an easy game."…

Most SWFs are totally beatable and not a problem.

I dont know people have gotten really good at the games lately in 2025, your point might have a good standing ground back in 2019-2020 but since then people got upgrades, 144+hz monitors, reshade access, macros, other helping tools i wont name since idk if its allowed to speak about them and i think its unfair for me to say which tools to give even more people access for unfair advantage.

Point is killer does not have any external factor unlike SWFs.

My experience is hell mostly every 2nd or 3rd game i get where its 1 kill and punishing and bullying because i simply dont have ability to harm them across the pallet or through wall unlike some killers.

This comes down to the liability of m1 killers so yeah ill rather not go to the cursed rabbit hole of balancing in this post 🤣

  • @TheNecr0mancer said:

I want the option as killer to see which surv is in lobby as a duo, or as a full squad, simple as that.

Is not fair i always need to go against a full team with meta perks, strong items, gods at looping and knowledgeable at everything.

If i want a chill match i should be able to have one, so if i see the surv ar swf and i want a challenge i accept if i don't want to i don't and i go to another lobby.

Call me bad, tell me to git gud i don't care, i just want to have some relaxing matches, is not like that since 2019

Im having the same issue, its usually like a double duo aka 2+2 seperate duos joining and forming a swf thats really pain in the ass, sure one duo is worse than other but they usually still cordinate well with each other.

Thats my usual matches, i rarely get like a full solo q lobby its usually often trio + random or 2 duos

Thats usually how it goes for me because of my 70+ WR as michael and honestly im on PS5.

Like i have only almost 400 hours (includes surv and killer gameplay) i do own dbd on steam since 2018 but never really played it max 20 hours.

Either way just because i "play good" or i get people that overcommit to saves on hooks at 1st hook state and they offer me an option to go for double slug and hook 2 at once is not my fault i should not be placed higher because survivors just sabotage their own games.

I am not even that good at the game to deserve literal gods at loops and shack loopers that dont miss

I appreciate the response and empathetic way in which the faults in communication have been acknowledged.

If a message like this after the chapter was released was made earlier with acknowledgement and killswitching, the outcry would probably be far less to just frustrations over the bugs.

I appreciate with new engines come new problems. Just please remember errors occur, but it's how you deal with them which matters more.

Thank you, and I won't whinge further on the subject.

Ryan did confirm that he will send it to the team that they should have a system to report a perk, this should be really good for the game as a whole community for both players and devs after each update we can then report either an item or a perk from match result screen.

Im just happy since it should have been in the game since the start

1 … 6 7 8 9 10 … 15
