I agree that this add-on should be removed. But, on another hand, i think iron will also makes it a bit too easy to juke base spirit... i would like it if iron will didn't remove breathing sounds (to be a bit more fair).
@GrimReaperJr1232 said:
Okay, there's an add-on. Where's the hacking? Or, are you putting using a powerful add-on in the same category as people that are actually cheating to ruin the game?
On another note, the add-on is dumb but Iron Will is pretty dumb, so it's countering stupid with stupid here. Both need a change.
I understand the Iron will argument, but that's another discussion, you can't justify this addon because Iron Will exists, since this addon works even if you're healthy, and with non Iron Will users.
We could argue that the addon could be reworked to increase moaning sounds a bit (like 20%), that way it could counter Iron Will and it would make it balanced against a match with Iron Will users and non Iron Will users (and it wouldn't have an effect against healthy survivors). Like the old stridor, but an addon and not that strong as the old stridor, that would balance the playing field. But punishing every user in any health state "because a perk exists" (and maybe nobody is using it in the match) it's not a good argument.
In fact, the addon could be that you have 20% moaning sounds guaranteed, that way it will ONLY counter Iron will users (not giving a 120% to non iron will users). That way it's an addon to counter a specific perk, in fact, make it rare or common, it doesn't matter.

Thanks in advance.
A crumbling, dried cherry flower.
Once the symbol of mortality.
- Killer Instinct is triggered whenever Survivors come within 4 metres of The Spirit during a Phase-Walk.
- Scratch Marks are no longer visible during a Phase-Walk.
Dried Cherry Blossom is a Very Rare Yamaoka's Haunting Add-on . Descriptions may vary from their in-game version for reasons explained here.Wiki Descriptions support Mouse-over in Desktop View: hover your mouse cursor over the modifier words (or highlight them) to have a tool-tip reveal their values.Mobile View displays the values in small print after the modifier words. Rework: now triggers Killer Instinct whenever Survivors come close to The Spirit's ethereal form at the expensive of losing thBasically, if you're 4 meters from a survivor while phasing, the game will tell you "Here they are!"

Gotta love that 'I play both but your biased based off absolutely nothing but a name you made as a joke'.
Whatever, dude. Survivors gonna whine.
Thanks for your input. Useless, because you never actually made an argument for the addon, but thanks anyway, have a great day.
-
@AngyKiller said:
I repeat 'heaven forbid Killers have powerful add ons'.
The second they do; Survivors claim it's 'not fun' 'OP' 'a miserable experience' and whatever else they can think of to get it nerfed.
MD Ring, DCB, NoED, camping, slugging, tunneling, etc. etc. If a Killer kills; people gonna claim they did it wrong, or it ruined their fun.
The good thing is that you're actually proving my point. You agree the addon is powerful, and you think the only reason it should not be removed/reworked is because "survivors complain". Your argument is more like a strawman fallacy, instead of talking about the balance of the addon you divert the discussion towards attacking survivors for complaining.
-
Don't make this an "us vs them" post, it's not about that, I play 50/50 (based on your name only you feel like a killer main so probably your opinion is bias). It's not that it's strong, it's straight unbalanced and it removes all her counterplay. It's like having an addon for nurse that will help you blink exactly where the survivor is at all times. It would remove all juking and counterplay you could have against her.
-
In fact, you only have to search IN THIS FORUMS "Dried Cherry Blossom", you'll find a lot of people saying Mother Daughter Ring and Dried Cherry Blossom are an insane/great/broken combo. And it's true, it's too strong, you can't hide, you can't juke, you can do nothing about it.
It's not only the fact that it's definitely strong (I think the strongest combo she has right now), the problem is that it's not just a speed addon or something like that, it actually removes all counterplay she has which makes going against her a miserable experience.

Relax. Even if you don't care about the cosmetics, just the general tone of this thread should let you know that if you take serious offense to this event, you are in the vast minority of vocal windbags. You've got to realize that the tryhards, high MMR, and people on these forums are the smallest percentage of the DBD community.
Regular folks are having fun with it. You can't expect BHVR to not do silly things because you don't like how it upsets competitive play. Either cool off or move on, but screaming into the void won't do anything other than persuade them to STOP making events.
BHVR was widely criticized for the lack of uniqueness to the Halloween event. So they added new ######### this this time for us to mess around with.
For survivors to mess around with. Yes.

It seems you're missing the point somewhat, so let me try explaining it differently...
The point is that the people who are complaining about it are talking almost exclusively in hyper-serious, competitive, tryhard terms, talking about how they're spending extra time in chases because survivors get "a free hit" (which isn't true on the face of it, but moving on). Nobody complaining about this even acknowledges that it's for fun, they're just mad that they have something to compensate for when they're trying their hardest to win.
So, the solution to that ""problem"" is for them to stop taking the game so seriously during this event, because it is a fun and silly seasonal event thing. Surely people can approach the game a little less seriously for the holidays?
So you're now telling me how should I play the game too? First you tell us what's fun and what isn't and they you tell us we should play the game in a non serious manner because it's holidays (which probably mean a lot to you but I couldn't give a f)? Man, you're entitled AF.
I celebrate holidays with my family and friends, I don't want the game I enjoy go to sh*t "just because it's holiday so now the game is whatever". And yes, I play all the time at high MMR against twitchy 4man SWF, so no, it's not fun at all.

I play killer exclusively and have played against these snowmen. It's very funny watching survivors climb into snowmen and then crawl at a snail's pace while wearing one, that's the intended goal of the snowmen and they nail it.
It's so sad to read how confidently you're wrong. If it was "funny" for you, good for you mate, but read the comments, it's not fun for everyone. And I've seen nobody justifying it, they just say "omg, why you complain", "omg, it's fun", "omg, if you don't like it play something else". Nobody is justifying why "they nailed it" (they haven't BTW, but I'll let you swim in your ignorance)
-
@jesterkind said:
They don't get a speed boost, and you DO get a free cosmetic out of it.
This is a fun addition. Don't take it so seriously, it's just a silly little snowman disguise survivors can take and it's only gonna last for as long as this little event.
This community really will complain about anything...
Fun for who???? double U T F????
I just had a game as hag and they were entering snowmen left and right, I think I got a guy entering 2 times in the same chase. It was not FUN, it was FRUSTRATING, all this while gens kept flying by. Have you even played killer in this event? it feels like you're some sort of entitled survivor that wants to tell us what IS FUN and what isn't.

Yes, that was one of the first things I tried, I used Clown without tinkerer or any undetectable perks, just beast of prey. I looped around a single pallet until I got bloodlust 1, then waited a few more seconds before hitting the survivor (because maybe the undetectable would take a few seconds to kick in while the terror radius is being reduced, like Insidious) still... nothing. I tried that for like 3 matches (obviously, I had to THROW the match because the challenge itself is pretty dumb, if you get 6 bloodlusts in the same match, you're not really a good killer or your match is going terrible).
Still, nothing. This is currently the only challenge I have left.
-
I tried reinstalling the game, it's still bugged (I clearly hit them more than 6 times). It says "6 survivors", I'm hoping this doesn't mean DIFFERENT survivors in a single trial and that's why it's bugged?
It's the last challenge I need to complete them all (including current tome and the halloween event challenges).

I guess people didn't have any problem last patch, since I didn't find any post reporting this issue, but probably something happened in this patch and now (for those of us that didn't play last rift) it can't be completed.
Also almost all indoor maps are disabled, so I won't waste my scratched mirrors trying it now, I'll wait for the next update.

Other ideas (independent from each other):
1) Making glass bead base kit for maps instead of an addon. It's surprising how many people know about maps but never heard of this addon, you can check the reddit post to see some player's experiences.
2) Reveal the aura of the rest of the survivors to you if you're under it. Like a stationary Bond. Or maybe reveal the auras on a certain range or for a certain amount of time (let's say 10 seconds) so nobody can just place the beam next to a gen and have aura reading while working for a whole gen. It would be a buff for solo queue. Medkits work like Self Care, toolboxes work like Prove Thyself, glass bead could work like Bond.
3) I already stated this, you could heal with a 30% penalty speed if you're under it (slower than normal heals, but faster than Self Care), like a "holy light" you could place and the rest of survivors can come and heal.
I hope you could figure out something interesting for this addon, because it's pretty cool and it's almost never used.
-
@Milo said:
Map, in general, is the least used item. The map overall needs some sort of boost to be more appealling choice.
(Also please for the love of God, remove the beam's sounds or lower it. It's so annoying .-.)
Yeah. I agree. Maybe tone the sound down if you hear it for 5 seconds. It's good to have a loud sound to hear for locating the beam (mainly indoor) but once you find it you don't need the sound anymore.

Do you know how I achieved this? mainly because survivors got lost and I knew the map pretty well by then, if people want to learn the map... it wouldn't be as bad or at some point.. not bad at all. Map itself is not RNG based only the generators may be.
I find it cool looking and definitely harder than normal which for me is only for the better because is challenging.
Also yes, I only had BBQ and Iron Maiden value as you can conclude from this image
I win 99% of my matches as Doctor in The Game map, because I know the map like the back of my hand. Yet people complain a lot about so many pallets and being survivor sided, that it needs to be reworked, etc...
I win, so it's their fault because they didn't learn the map.

I find it nice when the hatch rule is different rather the same on all maps. Let's change a bit the game, why not? let's make it more interesting, perhaps a little bit harder... something new!
Because it makes no sense. It's like having the hatch on the upper level of The Game map, if you jump in you just go to... the bottom level.
Sure, it's a "magical" hatch, but it kinda makes little to no sense.

Finally played it the other day and I love the map. I'm a sucker for interior maps though. The feeling of dread and claustrophobia when you see the killer lurking in a hallway you need to get through makes DBD feel like a horror movie.
Yes, it looks nice, and I guess you're right about making it claustrophobic and immersive experience. But I feel like that's your taste (and a few people feel like that as well) However, in general people HATE indoor maps.
However, even if you like how it looks, it doesn't make it a good and functional DBD map, people in general don't care about "being in a scary movie" when playing DBD, this is more like an action game with a horror theme, not really a horror game. They want the gameplay to be fluid and the gameplay to be dynamic and a lot of other things that you didn't mention because that's exactly what this map lacks.

@Looney said:
It looks nice but it's terrible for DBD, especially for multiple killers like legion.
People that say "I like it" probably mean they're RE fans or they like the aesthetics (the map is gorgeous, I won't deny that). Until now, nobody justified like "No, look, I'll explain to you why this is a good map for DBD". It's just not, it's not suitable for DBD, it's a maze with nonsensical pallets that are either too safe or too unsafe, there's no fun looping there, just a mess of hallways, doors too far apart I mean, if the killer found the hatch the survivor is gone, unless he's Trapper or Plague or runs whispers.
It's just a mess of a map. Beautiful, but non functional for DBD.
-
@CluelessWanderer said:
I think the map looks gorgeous, but I hate playing on it. It's a maze filled with dead ends, but the worst thing is how the survivors in Solo queue just hook suicide or d/c on it.
Yes, that's the issue, it's gorgeous, I won't deny that, it's the most ambitious map yet and you can look at all the details. 10/10 in visuals.
Still, it's not a functional map for DBD, it's just a maze of hallways, super safe or ridiculously unsafe pallets, 0 visibility for the killer most of the time, I feel like they did everything people were complaining about from Midwich and the devs said "Alright, now we'll add more of those mistakes, let's make it four times WORSE than midwich".
Not every map they come up with is functional for DBD, even if they add the Ghostbuster's HQ people will love it, that doesn't mean it's going to be a functional DBD map.

How to reproduce the issue:
1) Start a game as a killer

3) Eventually, in different maps, the pallet flickering will occur
NOTE: Please note that this is very random, but since the release of the latest patch, I've seen this occur in Yamaoka, a Coldwin Farm instance and Hawkins, as shown below. For this particular map, I was able to record only this flickering, but it happened twice in this same match.

To be honest, I didn't get rank reseted. But use the rank it to do the hard adept achievements.
-
Oh, let me be clear, I LOVE the twins, the concept, the art, the idea behind them, etc... but the execution is poor, the mechanics don't work. And I even have issues with some things about their power, but they're fun to play when they work, so I have hope for a good next patch.
-
To be fair, that is the least of Undying's problems. I'm just 4king every match non-stop with Doctor. It's insane. Even if they nerf that, the aura reading on the lit totems is what you only need to care about. I'm feeling with Doctor what I think Nurse mains should feel, I'm just destroying them, even good SWFs with good loopers. A team of randoms have 0 chance.
Also, I'm solo player, going against it is just insufferable, it's just a lost game most of the time, unless you and your team focus on gens and forget completely about the totems and the killer is somehow not that good.
-
@TheMonadoBoi said:

This is where you're completely wrong. SWF should (sadly) be EVERY game's standard for balance since it's the strongest force in the *entire* game. Sounds ######### because it is. Devs need to acknowledge this game cannot work without comms and giving survivors a phrase wheel and a walkie talkie is gonna completely nullify many of the imbalances that SWF cause. They can then buff killers accordingly and solo surv becomes an enjoyable and fair experience.
Going back to your original argument Ruin + Undying is perfectly fine even in their current state. I have fun using it and looking for totems too, given that my team isn't all rank 20s.
What I meant was, you can't expect the devs to say "hey, nothing needs to be reworked, since any SWF can easily beat that". Imagine if that was the case for not reworking ruin. You're talking about using SWF as an extreme case for balance, which is not wrong, but they shouldn't base their balance logic around SWF.
in fact, they never had. I can't remember a single patch note saying "we nerfed this because in SWF is too strong"
-
@gatsby said:
I have zero issues with it. I'm the designated totem cleanser in my SWF and the hexes rarely last more then 3-4 minutes into the match.
My build has Inner Strength and Detective's Hunch. I don't think a Ruin/Undying user has 4k'd against us yet
The thing is that a SWF with a designated totem cleanser should not be the rule for what's balanced or not in the game. In fact, SWF by themselves should not be the rule for anything, since communication breaks a lot of perks and mechanics in the match.

I'd nerf spine chill and the sprint perks (SB, lithe, balanced landing, etc...). 3 seconds at 150% speed is WAAAAY too much for the killer to catch up. It should be like 2 seconds at best.
And of course, repairing in front of the killer with DS is bullshit.

yes, yes they do. Either that or they are communicating EXACTLY what they are asked to communicate and either the programmers are getting their logic wrong (which begs the question: where are your UNIT TESTS and QUALITY ASSURANCE) or the requirements are being given poorly or are absent entirely.
Also to confirm. I had 3 allies wounded. healed one using 'For the People' which made me broken. Then went to another to heal them 1 full state. Later that match I healed another survivor with the help of an ally and I didnt get a single point that round. That was AT LEAST 1 full health state, PROBABLY 2 and if you can consider 'For the People' healing then that was 3 full health states. It is bugged badly
Yeah, I remember us 4 being injuried and two of us healed a third person. I didn't get any point (still, I don't remember if I got half of a point, keep in mind I think you get partial points on Steam). I don't know about "for the people", haven't tried it. I remember using empathy, not healing, waiting for everyone to be injuried and then run to a guy and heal him. That was the only reliable way to gain a point that I found.
Luckily, I got it... super annoying achievement to get.

In regards to messaging Killer after match. I play both sides but survivor more consistently. If I play a Killer who wowed me, or played without toxicity, I will message them after game to say GG and wish them luck in the Fog.
But with so many posts on forum that talk about whiny/entitled survivors, am I just wasting my time sending these messages? Do Killer players appreciate the messages, or am I wasting my breath? I'm not looking to fall on any swords, but rather genuinely curious.
They do, and also they'll sound surprised.
If a nurse has a rough match but he played fairly well, I'd cumpliment and try to excuse him, like "Good nurse man! nice predictions! but the map is really hard for nurse, wp". Or if a huntress had a good match but lost "gg wp, good huntress, nice throws, but you know... gens go too fast these days".
Most of them will thank you (and will be surprised since nobody does that), some of them will just leave or say nothing, after all they lost and maybe they don't feel like chatting. We need to stop seeying this game as a 4v1 and more like 5 people connecting to a match, and one plays a different role than the rest, but we're just 5 people trying to have fun.

As the new gen sounds are a buff for killer and a debuff for survivor, no you can't have a vote on it in this 4 v 1 asymmetrical game, is the answer. "Can we vote" will always result in the survivor-side of any question winning, it's why you don't vote on game balance
I'm only asking to vote for the sounds on the survivor part. I don't care what killers hear, buff the sounds on the killer side, I don't care, they could light up the aura of the gen I'm working on for all I care, but is not enjoyable or pleasant to have a car engine start on your ear for 80 second straight. It's just bad user experience.
