  • Survivor: Very happy. We've all had those moments where the game spams 10 skillchecks at you in a span of 10 seconds and you struggle to hit some of them and it can feel so frustrating and tiring. Seeing no progress all because of a silly little skillcheck. Often you'd work through Ruin just for it to get to 90%, a survivor to go down next to your gen and the kill comes and kicks it with Pop. It can feel so frustrating spending so long on a gen for little payoff.

I have days where I can hit them all but it's hard to play perfect all the time and it can be dull playing against Ruin everygame for the above reasons. Also I'm convinced Ruin increased the amount of skillchecks, absolutely convinced.

Also I'm fed up of those crutch killers who take a top tier killer, instasaw, iri heads etc then Ruin AND Noed on top. If you need Ruin and NOED then you're definitely popped up by crutches. Just pick one.

Killer: Kind of disappointed but not that much. I've been trying to transition away from it for a while anyway because for me the totem disappears within the first minute, often the first 30 seconds and it feels like a wasted perk slot. Joys of swf I guess. I've been experimenting with Corrupt Intervention and I'm happy with the results. Takes away the survivors 20 second free gen time by forcing them to go into the map and find new gens, also helps you get early game pressure by shrinking the map. That's all I wanted really, I don't need Ruin to last longer than that. Just something to stop a survivor immediately jumping on a gen right at the start. Also Discordance works wonders too as many times 2 survivors will spawn and jump on a gen together so right at the start of the trial you get information on which gen to check out first.

These are consistent perks. They aren't luck based like Ruin which could last 30 seconds or 10 minutes. So I'll have a better gauge of my skill level and more consistent games.

As for new Ruin I have little interest. My biggest complaint about old Ruin was how quickly that totem got cleansed so I have no interest in a totem that becomes more effective over time. It's the same reason I don't use Huntress lullaby as it's likely to be gone before it becomes effective. Only Devour is worth the risk due to the massive payoff if it works.

  • Depends on the add ons you use. I like his speed add ons and uncloaking speed.

A good perk is Make Your Choice. If you try it with a normal killer the exposed survivor will run when they hear your terror radius either keep running or hide. With Wraith they run a bit and then stop. Is Wraith coming? Is he busy? They dont know. They also dont know which direction you will approach from. It’s very easy to sneak up on people like this.

You can make it back to the hook fast with his add on and the uncloaking speed buff helps you land that sneak hit. Silent bell or bone clapper would work too.

  • Killers are definitely getting stronger.

Freddy is statistically the strongest in the game right now. Definitely top tier. Ghostface is incredibly strong and Oni is very strong too. While I wouldn’t say Demogorgon is quite as strong as those 3, he’s still good with his lunge which allows him to get hits others can’t, instantly break pallets and traverse the map with teleportation.

Compare that to the days of Doctor, old Freddy, Leatherface, Clown etc

The old killers were so basic. As new killers are coming out stronger than most of the old with more mobility/map pressure and as older killers get tweaked and buffed the need for Ruin becomes less.

  • Not often, but when I get a few specific maps (you know the ones) I really wish I brought it. Regardless those particular windows should not be in the game in 2020.

I never said you NEEDED spine chill, although if you have it it makes beating ghostface a lot easier, but he has a lot of indicators of when he is coming, his cloak makes a ton of noise, you have EYES that can ######### SEE him since he needs LOS, and the most obvious is crows, if you listen you will hear crows caw and fly off when survivors or killers disturb them, they are very audible, so listen and look up when you hear them to see where he is approaching from. You need to be aware of the environment and use it against ghostface, crows are something most people don't even notice but knowing gives you an early warning against any stealth killer

Eyes that can see in the open but half the gens block line of sight.

Also no he doesn't make a ton of noise lol. This is what a lot of people hate. Granted sounds are busted but any nearby noise i.e. a gen being worked on drowns out his clothes.

  • Welcome to the club, it seems to be growing every day.

"Typically, I'll be on a gen at the start of the match then, BOOM, seemingly without warning - I'll be in the exposed status and he just downs me after a brief chase. I think the sound of the gen is likely masking the sound of his rippling robes and the warning sound during the marking process. I'm using a headset as well. Is it just me or does this happen to others?"

Yup. It's one of the many reasons people dislike him. He feels really cheap. Out of nowhere a survivor is exposed, normally happens about 15 seconds into the game. Unless the survivor is right next to a pallet then chances are by the time they spin their camera and spot where he's coming from they are caught off guard, unprepared and instadowned.

He originally had a 16m auditory noise. He was designed like this to give survivors a heads up. However the latest patch notes for him state...

"Removed the proximity Sound that the Killer generated while in Night Shroud (only his clothes emit sound while he moves)."

So yeah only his clothes make noise now, which is impossible to hear unless you're in a silent area i.e. no gens nearby.

Which again leads to him feeling like a cheap and nasty killer for survivors. It's also why 99% of Ghostfaces just hang around the hook. Now devs changed Kindred to appeal to campers so even that doesn't work against him.

You have two perks that aren't teachables that totally counter his stealth, he makes plenty of noise (If you actually listen) and his pale white mask gives him away pretty often. You need to pay attention, sure there will be times where you get put on a gen that he will probably get a free hit on since its so risky, but thats his strength, to catch you when you're unprepared and capitalise on it, so don't get caught unprepared, the second you know its ghostface always watch your back, pay attention to your teammates, whether someone gets injured, or the obsession is being chased, or if you see teammates reacting to something its probably him and you should take the hint. His stealth is a powerful ability, but with the proper preparation and vigilance, you can prevent him from catching you off guard.

spine chill? oh please. wasn't that why everyone complained about spirit? that you needed a specific perk against her?

I didn't even have an issue with spirit I didnt think she was too bad but iron will is a good perk regardless, spine chill is not a fun perk imo and I don't like it nor would I ever need it aside from this one killer who has more problems than just his stealth.

Once again, who the HECK is "a lot"?

You and your friends or the people you watch on YouTube or Twitch does not count, as it's not an accurate rep of people's actual opinions.

His stealth is removed for 35 seconds in like 3-4 different ways.

He does make noise. His cloaks flapping are actually pretty discernible when nearby (if sound worked lol).

Ghost Face was designed to what, lol?

Please, just stop projecting you opinion on something you clearly do not understand.

no matter where you go you see lots of comments about GF being awful to play against. It's definitely not a niche opinion. He commonly seems to be one of the most disliked.

All GF players run his recharge add ons. It's common knowledge those are his best and every GF runs them to ensure his stealth recharges as fast as possible.

He's meant to make noise but yeah audio is broken right now so it's easily drowned out, also 8m? you're basically on top of the survivor at that point.

No matter where you look, twitch, here, youtube, reddit, twitter it is commonly agreed that GF is one of the stronger killers in the game and feels bad to play against. I think it is you who needs to stop projecting that he's underpowered for red ranks and perfectly fun to go against.

  • @Plaquer said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/999090#Comment_999090

If you pay attention he won't get the jump on you, he is meant to be a stealth killer, he constantly pressures survivors by being unpredicatable. Yes I agree revealing him is inconsistent, but an exposed status effect isn't a death sentence, Myers gets looped, Billy gets looped, Haunted grounds, make your choice, Noed. If you can outlast the exposed it doesn't even matter, plus you shouldn't expect the killer to not use their power, especially when their power is good in chase like ghostface's is. Nerfs should not be dolled out because of a subjective opinion of "he's not fun to play against" objectively speaking, he is in a very good spot, he has counterplay and a power that is strong and fun, he is atm the only real stealth killer, it forces survivors to play differently and that doesn't make him unfair, it makes him unique, and not being able to adapt and then complaining isn't a great solution

And yet buffs were handed out when killer mains cried, now we end up with the killer who a lot would agree is the least fun killer in the game.

his stealth is bullshit. He removes terror radius, has no noise, no red stain, no slowdown or no penalty to attacking unlike other stealth killers

He’s awful and ruins the game for a lot of other players.

its funny how hes not allowed to be changed because people dont find him fun yet when killers didnt find him fun THEN he had to be changed. Double standards. GF was DESIGNED to have a 16m auditory warning.

  • For swf you mean. Play solo survivor then come back and say its balanced in favour of survivors.

  • @thefallenloser said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1001550#Comment_1001550

Yeah but it doesn't matter if he can get free hit if survivors completely counter the ability that gets him it by looking at him.

And then he can be easily looped by competent survivors.

Add that to the fact that he as no map pressure and he's not gonna be winning too many games without something to heavily slow down the gen speeds.

But survivors dont see him coming, and many struggle to break him out because of how busted the mechanic is. GF can expose them and they cant reveal him.

i dont know what to say. I find him really strong and its easy to dominate good teams with him because his stealth is overpowering.

  • I dont have an issue with his power but I think the gen speed add ons need to go. I know they have been nerfed but its an extra 12% still if he takes both, combine that with thana and dying light like a lot of Freddys do and it makes for a very boring game.

I don’t even know why he has them. Old Freddy had to go and physically put the survivors asleep to earn the gen slowdown. New Freddy can be afk on the other side of the map and survivors will still fall asleep and he will get the slowdown. How is that fair? Wasn’t that the issue with Ruin? That it was free slowdown without the killer needing to lift a finger for it?

I think I heard @Almo mention on their stream that they also think Clown is under utilized / not played well.

I think Clown is pretty ok, but his perks are great (well, 2/3)

He's definitely not played well, as could be said for many killers. I've seen many Clowns who barely use bottles in a chase or chase without having any bottles. They also don't use bottles in loops.

That said when people do know how to play him, everyone agrees he's weak due to map pressure. Even Fungoose said this who Almo quoted as a good killer and he was a former Clown main.

  • and this is exactly why I'm not bothered about the Ruin nerf. This was common for me when I played killer.

In terms of fairness, as least GF had 2 survivors exposed in the same time. That could have been a HUGE start.

Ghostie is a popular killer, but he's not even close to red rank material. He's very popular in the green rank territory, but as a red rank survivor and killer, and Ghostie main, he's not red rank material and I see the typical Spirit and Billy way more often.

You cannot apply your experience to the game as a whole.

Ghostface is easily red rank material. His ability to get free hits and the fact that survivors have no idea where he is often wins me games easily. It's not just my experience I watch a number of streamers who all have the same experience.

  • @thefallenloser said:

The devs also said that camping and slugging is a viable strategy, so where exactly did the devs say this?

Also survivors can reveal from up to 35 meters away, and he has a 32 meter terror radius. You don't want to let survivors within that radius hear you coming.

It was in one of the streams around his launch because people kept asking for that.

  • NOED is half of the problem. Campers always have NOED, so they know that if the other survivors do the gens in that camping time then the killer can still cheese another kill or two at the end game. The remaining survivors won’t have time to do gens and totems.

It’s also ridiculous that survivors lose points for bot unhooking a survivor. This penalty shouldn’t be applied if the killer has circled within 8-16m of the hook for the entire duration.

  • The sound is bugged in some way so often that it’s probably considered the default state for the game now.

  • @samination said:

If I'm not mistaken, changes were made to how survivors movement in the ptb. I'm not sure if 360 is gone, but walking backwards isn't possible anymore. So maybe?

I saw Puppers stream and he was showing off the new movement and 360s. Survivors can actually 360 faster and more effectice than ever before.

I think 360 and shaky survivor movement on Pc is ridiculous. I shouldnt have to spaz my mouse around to track and hit a survivor at the last second. Its a casual game about a killer chasing a running survivor, its not a hardcore twitch fps from the 90’s.

  • Killer will always be more stressful. You’re dealing with the burden yourself as killer, as survivor the workload (should be) shared across 4 people.

I find killer easier than solo survivor. I win most games as killer or at the very least manage to get 2 kills. As solo survivor I seem to not escape in the vast majority of games. If I play 2 man swf then my odds of escaping rise from about 10% to 50%.

I find solo survivor more stressful than killer because I’m constantly getting put with less experienced players and I find that I have to do most of the work and carry the team. This new rank reset and matchmaking bug has everything messed up. Used to be at red ranks you were guaranteed solid players on your team but not anymore.

Generally now my team go down every 5 seconds so I have to run the killer long enough to buy them time to do the gens and then the killer gets me down at the end with the speed boost from NOED and I get left to die on 1st hook. Its happening so frequently. I get its not all about escaping but I’d just like a chance at escaping after doing all the damn work and still have 10-15k more points after dying than everyone else despite the fact that they all got a bonus 5k for escaping.

  • @mistar_z I may be alone but I find him fun to play as AND against.

You’re exactly right though. People had huge faith in him when he came out because of how quickly he ended chases. While I wouldn’t mind some tweaks like faster default reload speed or him not being slowed as much while throwing bottles his power isn’t bad at all and can end chases quickly and I think people are assuming that its useless.

As you say his entire problem stems from the fact that he can’t juggle other survivors nor does he have anything to keep them busy nor does he have mobility.

  • I expect a Dwelf to give a good chase too, except rather than tunnelling I would probably try to chase them last.

Seems a little strange to make your first chase after the survivor you think will be the best player.

You know.. i have almost 500 in game hours.. still haven't unlocked all non-licensed killers (2 remains), let alone survivors.

Reduce the grind should be the top priority for devs if they want more new players. No one wants to grind for thousands of hours just to unlock all in-game characters.

And i haven't even mentioned the cosmetics.. 21k for 1 purple outfit which they keep releasing.. lol

Except you pay, which is kind of greedy for devs to be honest

I didn’t buy Oni for this reason. Its too much of a grind.

You need at least a million BP stored up, ideally 8k shards on top so you can bag another 600,000bp from the shrine of secrets. Then you hope you get the perks you want.

I own all other killers. Only bought GF because he was on sale and Stranger things for nancys perks. I was reluctant to buy this years dlc packs purely because of the grind.

I’ve owned the game for over a year but still don’t have all perks on all killers. It just takes forever. I’m getting very close and only recently have the killers finally reached a point where they have most of the perks I want. Though now the Ruin change has me scrambling to unlock Corrupt Intervention on a few others.

I bought all of the dlc on sale shortly after I bought the game over a year ago unaware of the grind I was entering. It’s ridiculous how long it takes to get a killer you bought access to all of the perks you paid for.

I won’t be buying Oni until all my other killers are complete, which is a shame as I would love blood echoes for Plague or Nemesis for Leatherface.

At least with survivor you only need all perks on one but I intend to get a few more perks on a couple more just for variety.

While you don’t NEED all perks on all killers its nice having them for the variety and synergy and trying new interesting builds. Also you might want a very specific perk but there’s no guarantee if it will come up in the bloodweb on the first page or on the very last bloodweb after you have unlocked every other perk.

  • Its funny how people act like its the end of the game. Excuse me but how many times did we all complain and look for an alternative because that damn totem went within 30 seconds?

I’ve been trying other strategies for a while now anyway as I had to play so many games where that totem went instantly that I feel like it wont make a difference.

  • Trapper maybe?

He could put a trap down to help defend Ruin, also he sacrifices early game to set up traps.

Hag can use corrupt intervention fine because she’s fast at setting up traps. Trappers constant back and forth movement picking up traps i feel wouldnt work as well but a number of people appear to have had success with corrupt intervention so maybe he will be ok after all. I’m not a Trapper main so I wouldn’t like to assume.

Never said or even tried to say it took skill, that part of the equation was settled when you downed the survivor after 8 billion second chances. At high ranks, even if you chase another survivor, chances are you're playing a high mobility killer, and chances are you have a straight approach to the sap that was just unhooked, meaning you slap him down and put him back on. Otherwise all 4 will literally waltz out the exit gates because they definitely have "skill".

Why do “killer mains” I guess you could say always come across as so bitter? Why do they always assume the devs are out to get them?

We all play both roles. The game isn’t perfect but when you play enough of the survivor side you can see why some things are the way they are.

Its like theres a number of people who only play killer that ask for things that would just not make the game fun for the other side at all, only so that the killer can get the easy 4k.

Has anyone ever thought that maybe, just maybe, people tunnel because of the fact that it's the most efficient way to kill and apply pressure

At low ranks yes, at high ranks waiting around a hook to tunnel normally leads to you being genrushed.

Also I think you meant to say “easiest way requiring the least skill or effort involved”

  • I just wish it was easier to find gens on it. I run around for 5 minutes just to come back to the gen I just completed 🤡

Funny all survivors say ruin is crutch if you can't pressure all gens at red ranks then git gud baby killer even then two to maybe three gens can go by the first chase but ds and bt are " necessary evils "

You say all survivors but then you’re only using my post lol

Also I never said Ruin was a crutch. Ruin was complex. Low tier killers and specific maps? Yeah the game was extremely hard without Ruin.

People who take Ruin and NOED on top tier killers? Yeah theres no doubt those people needed crutches to win.

  • @Murcielago said:

The problem is if you three gen for a while you can get banned for it for " holding the game hostage"

A 3 gen can easily be played around if survivors aren’t bad. I’ve pulled it off against killers like Myers before. You just need survivors that are going to do hit & run tactics on the gens.

If survivors just hide at the edge of the map watching that’s when you’re screwed.

  • @BenZ0 said:

    @ClickyClicky

Kinda agree that noed sucks and is a crutch of its own level of a perk but you have to admit that survivors still have alot of crutch perks aswell. Borrow, even if you dont want to tunnel the unhooked guy can bodyblock your ass and you are forced to tunnel, or D strike and you jump into a locker, you cant do ######### about that. Same goes too prove thyself, holding M1 doesnt require any skills. If you know what I mean.^^

I think BT and DS are necessary evils due to the rampant tunneling in the game. I see so many bad killers that I understand why both perks exist.

That said I would nerf the hell out of Dead Hard, Adrenaline and Sprint Burst.

The more I play the more I hate Dead Hard. Its just a free pallet everytime if the survivor uses it for distance rather than dodging. It stings M1 killers who dont get a say in it.

”Oh look Im caught im never gonna make it to the pallet....oh wait I have dead hard yay now I can extend the chases for a few more pallets all with 1 button press”

and you get that 4 times per game because all good survivors run dead hard.

  • @BenZ0 said:

    @ClickyClicky

Yep exactly thats what I meant, he needs something to travel the map faster or somewhat what doctor or legion has, a ability that forced survivors to do something else, even if its just a few seconds.

I think everyone has mentioned this by now so hopefully Clown gets something new next. Just something to keep the other survivors a little busier.

His chase power is fine but I wouldn’t mind reload being a little shorter or him having 5 bottles instead of 4. I think with Clown they played it safe as they were worried about him being OP in chases but then Freddy comes out with snares that slow the survivor longer and be can spam them over and over in chases. That said I dont think it will be an excuse to buff Clown because I personally think Freddy will be nerfed as he seems to be “overperforming” at the moment.

I know they mentioned they want to change the chainsaw killers soon but Clown was my main for a longtime. Still is deep down and I own all of his cosmetics aside from the recolours so I’m really hoping be’s the next killer they revisit.

  • That’s what one of the devs said. That killers are designed to start out weak with many gens to patrol and those gens should go fast, and then as the amount of gens to patrol decreases the killer gets stronger.

It depends how you want to play. You could pick Doc and go 3 gen strat from the start. If I get Azarov’s resting place (abysmal map btw) then I try to hold off one half of the map and never venture to the other side because that’s how you lose that map.

If I use Billy then I don’t care and can go anywhere. Likewise with Wraiths speed add ons you don’t need to shrink the map either.

You could bring a number of perks and a killer that will help you snowball In which case you dont need to worry about gens.

I like corrupt because I like having more pressure from the start. Thats just my choice. If others feel the same way then this is a potential route they will go down.

  • His power is fine when you know how to effectively use it in chases.

The problem is he doesn’t have much going for him outside of good chase potential. He isn’t great at applying map pressure or juggling multiple survivors.

Having quick chases isn’t enough to win the game. You need ways to keep the other survivors occupied even if your chases only last 15 seconds.

The information that comms provide about TOTEMS is criminal, and quite frankly cheating. If you were meant to know how many totems where left there would be a counter just like the generator one.

When you play solo you are playing the game as it was meant to be played. Take pride in it.

    Lol take pride in it...

So you can sit there slugged while someone gets sweaty, gets the ez kills with NOED then stands there nodding and hitting on hook and post game tells you how “ez” you were and how great they are?

Myers is fair and I'm okay with that. But you know exactly what I'm dealing with when it comes to Ghostface. It happens in all my games and people just get snowball, some players are so tired of seeing Ghostface they just dc. They just say screw it.

You know its weird how Myers and Gf share similar mechanics, yet a number of people on here (myself included) listed Myers as the most fun killer and Ghostface as the least fun killer.

I see many games where GF gets an instadown or a gen grab right at the start like 15 seconds into the game and its that which always causes the dc. People feel its cheap and bs. Myers can get gen grabs too but its rare and also he moves slow and his breathing is louder than Ghostfaces cloak so I’m guessing thats why they don’t care. Also they know that Myers will lose that kind of stealth soon enough.

  • @Archimedes5000 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/999079#Comment_999079

But thats the point of this killer. If you can spot him faster, you block his power, if you cant you get downed. And its not like he gets his power immediately, you have time to notice him. You say you can't look around while doing a gen, but thats basically the only other thing you can do while doing a gen.

Reveal mechanic is bugged and needs to be fixed but thats all.

You cant look around if line of sight is blocked thats the issue. There are a number of gens where you cant see if a killer comes around a corner for example. I had a gen the other say on yamoaka and there was no way you could see a killer coming from any direction but around a wall which gave you like half a second to react.

    • Wraith can get you but him uncloaking gives survivors a small chance.
    • Pig can get you but at least in terms of balance she is slowed down
    • - Ghostface suffers no such downsides.

Of course everyone tries to look around when they’re on an open gen. It should be easier once Ruin is gone so you don’t need to concentrate so hard on skill checks. All I’m saying is that with Ghostface being so stealthy, zero noise, leaning around corners, dark cosmetics, ability to crouch.....if you don’t hear him because hes pretty much silent and you dont see this tiny little head bobbing around a corner within about 3 seconds then you’re going to be “exposed”. It seems a little harsh no? That someone with by far the strongest stealth in the game also gets to instadown with it.

Even if you do spot him you cant reveal him if hes behind a corner and again, if hes already stalked you for a couple of seconds then you’ll never be able to reveal him in time before you’re exposed. His stealth is too strong, he exposes too fast and the way he can pop in and out of cover to exploit the reveal mechanic to stop the survivors progress but keep his own leaves him feeling cheap and unfair in a way that other killers don’t.

The amount of gen grabs or instadowns I’ve seen from this guy right at the start of the game. No killer should be getting that many.

Why would one person do all 5 totems? There's 4 survivors. If each person took one that's what 14 seconds? 28 seconds If someone does 2. If they see them and dont take them out its on them if they get hit with noed later.

As for the whole tunneling and camping debate. It's a pointless debate. Even if a killer doesn't tunnel or camp he gets called one anyway most of the time. I find it amusing that survivors think that killers should follow a code/honor system.

Like, "respect the kobe". "Don't come back to the hook when I'm rescuing you hook camper", even though the killer can see your scratch marks headed for the hook...

Oh and my personal favorite, the survivor hook bombing in front of the killer. Then stopping and waiting for the killer to hit them so that they can get the unhook, give them borrowed time and then deadhard so that the killer is forced to hit the survivor with BT. But instead of that wonderful fantasy the killer just waits. The rescuer looks so flustered when the killer doesnt play along with their silly strategy. It makes me smile.

Yes there are 4 survivors but play solo and you’ll realize how few do totems.

I’ve actually had games before where I do 4 totems, assume the other 3 survivors managed to do 1 totem between them and then at the end of the game I’M the one that gets hit with NOED. It sucks.

Also hard to do totems when the games wonderful matchmaking puts you with low ranks, so you loop the killer long enough for them to get the gens done but they dont do totems so you go down to NOED and they rush out of the gates - every game ive had today.

As for tunneling/camping its just flat out not fun and not good for the health of the game. It puts a lot of people off playing.

    That's what i'm saying.

As killer, you can 2 hook everyone but depip or black pip.

As survivors, i only depip or black pip when killer camps or tunnels me, which is not that common actually.

So back to your post, i think pipping as killer should not depend on kills. Saying 2k for killers should always be black pip is just unfair for killers.

(Not to mention how bad the the system is for plague and other 1 shot killers)

I was referring to the comment which was complaining that a 2k does not result in a pip. But again yeah there are a lot of variables.

  • At which point they stare at him, he stares at them. He stalks them, they cant reveal him because its busted then boom, they’re exposed and out in the open

  • I dont get why people focus so hard on gens ALL the way through.

If we get 3 gens done fast and the killer isn’t doing so good then I use our advantage to go do totems. Some survivors insist on rushing the last 2 gens though and screw us with NOED.

If your team is struggling then by all means rush gens because you dont have much choice but if you have the game in the bag then please do totems.

Then why can survivors pip when they die in the game?

Why can the last survivors get a pip when exit via hatch when all teammates are killed?

There are reasons why people feel that it's too easy to rank up.

It depends on everything else that happened in the game.

kills and escaping alone shouldnt determined the pip.

Whats better, 3 hooking 2 survivors and 2 hooking the ones that escape? Or 3 hooking 2 survivors and not hooking the others at all?

There is a lot of variables to take into account and nobody is saying that the current system is perfect

Trust me, I know all about why new players quit the game. Most of my family and friends quit because they had no interest in feeding some kids fantasy by being camped and tunneled in every game. I know. That said, Ruin helped those killers camp and tunnel to extreme in the lower ranks. When new players can't find the totem, they can't hit great skill checks, they take forever getting a gen due to Ruin, and a LF is face camping them one by one, it is no fun. At red ranks ruin is questionably effective at best. Most of the time my totem is gone in 60 seconds like a bad Nicolas Cage movie. That, or the survivors bulldoze through it like it was not there due to hitting great skill checks with relative ease.

So it is debatable as to what, if any, impact it will have at red ranks with the change. At low ranks, new survivors will have a real shot at getting gens done while LF is drooling on his latest catch. Frankly, I like the new ruin. It punishes survivors who are too hesitant to jump on the gen when the killer's terror radius is nearby. Every second off that gen is another tick on the regression meter.

As for how it will help new killers, it will teach them to pressure the gens instead of rewarding them for staring at a hook. Ruin+NOED = Rank 17 win with little effort. New ruin will teach new killers that it is more effective to push the survivors off the gen in order to get them regressed. Staring at the latest catch means you get gen rushed into a 1k.

Not saying it is a perfect solution, just saying it is a step in the direction they want to go. I don't think it is doomsday. Just like the healing changes were not doomsday. Everyone thought all the survivors would quit because healing times were nerfed to the ground a bit over a year ago. Seems to me that the game kept moving forward.

    Wow. Great post.

This is why I basically said earlier too. Ruin just allows people to get away with lame playstyles, it buys them time to do it against rookies. I've seen it so much recently due to matchmaking deciding it wants to put me with all rank 12-16s recently.

Agreed about red ranks too. Against genuine red ranks Ruin would never be up more than a minute.

I think this is much healthier for the game overall and healthier for those players that relied on Ruin.
