Once, I was swfing with my wife, daughter and a friend. Well as soon as we loaded into the map, we lost power. Since my daughter still lived at home back then, my buddy was instantly in a 1v1 with 5 gennys left. It was so funny but he was pissed.
As a killer, I once was trying to be nice and not kill anyone because we had like 5 streamers in play. So I kept slugging the David trying to get my 4 stack of BBQ. But wanting to keep him alive. I must of slugged him down like 6 times. Then at the end after the gens were done and everyone was memeing having a good game. I hit them all for extra points so they could crawl out the gates, maybe get the achievement. Poor David died instantly when he hit the ground, bleed out was too low. Forehead.
And, Those sweet Spirit grabs off the exit gates doors, alarms blaring. I know that pissed a few people off.

Even when healthy she can still hear you so you don’t really have a way to avoid her. When injured not even iron will will save you then
Every killer can hear you. If you struggle against her, I recommend playing her. I have played her for so long that I do quite well against her.
-
I agree OP that a lack of empathy or understanding for the other side is what causes such a disconnect. That is why I am a strong proponent of playing both sides with equal intensity.
Playing both sides really helps to clarify the truth of some of the DBD parlance we use, and define what exactly is, say tunneling and why it may be needed at times, for an example. But, honestly, if everyone would understand that we may not all agree nor play the same style and accept that others have the right to play how they want we would be moving in a better direction. And instead of hating or throwing shade, just move on to the next game.
Play how you want, and let others play how they want. And when ######### doesn't go your way, well just remember what Pac Said,
“I know it seems hard sometimes but remember one thing. Through every dark night, there's a bright day after that. So no matter how hard it get, stick your chest out, keep ya head up.... and handle it.”

These make sense. Too bad stridor kinda nullifies a lot of them but good spirits don’t need it anyway
Yeah, I am not a fan of running stridor on Spirit. But the tactics remain the same. Albeit a bit harder

I personally don't like running perks that I get pissed off about as killer like ds, unbreakable and dead hard. The same for when I play killer so no perks like noed, ruin and tinkerer. so no I never run dead unless I am running no mither and even then I still run other perks. Mainly because I don't care if I win or lose I just want everybody in that game to have fun.
I understand that, but I run DH currently. I do sometimes switch and run sprint burst instead, because DH can be, um, less the reliable.
DH really doesn't bother me as a killer. I can bait it out and you can usually tell when someone has it by the way they play. Just wait an extra second before you hit them.

Haven’t heard anyone say hag took no skill.
Anyway got any tips for fighting spirit? I do terrible against her
Yes, exactly.
First, Iron Will is a strong perk, I run it in my build. It is a big help. But if you do not want to the same tactics to counter spirit apply. First she has a cooldown, so try to play around this. If she just phased across the map to where you are, then tries to stand still and fake it at a loop, obviously she is on cool down and can not phase yet. Never fall for the stand still play, if she does do it, start walking towards another loop.
If you are in chase with her and she has her power you can loop her like other killers. See if she is a chaser or a phaser. If she just chases then you just loop normally, if she is a phaser during loops, then you have to be unpredictable. But it is as much 50/50 for her as well. Never just camp a pallet because she will come out of phase and get you. The old fast vault a window and slow vault back can be effective as well. You are constantly trying to make distance from her. Kinda like a doctor, always be breaking away towards other loops.
The other thing with her is to leave a bit early. If you hear her coming creep away towards where you want to start a loop. Like I said after her phase she is on cooldown and will need to recharge. If you are running from her, look behind you. You can see her stop and stand still if she starts to phase. That is when you walk towards a different direction. Not towards her, never towards her unless you are really familiar with how she works.
Spirit is all about mindgames. So you have to ######### with her the same way she wants to do with you. Need to break LOS as much as possible and break away towards other areas, in unpredictable ways. She is strong after the first hit, so like Oni, try to avoid getting that first hit as long as possible. May have to throw pallets early. And gen rush, gen rush, gen rush. But, not to the point you stay on the genny when she may be coming. It is better to sneak away and be sure she is not coming to your genny and go back then to let her get that early first hit.
-
I think the solution is to just get better at killer. I am sorry if people feel differently but there are very few SWFs that are optimal survivors. In fact 4 optimal solos are just as hard to defeat as 4 man optimal SWFs.
And if you play at red ranks, well you probably face at least some permutation of SWF as is. Are you losing every game? Because not every SWF is seal team 6 running full meta builds.
I'd argue that regular 4 man SWFs are actually overly altruistic, so much so that an experienced killer can use that against them.
If you are the kind of player that blames every loss you have on SWFs, perhaps you need to search deeper within yourself and examine the weaker parts of your game.

He's on phase 2. Every killer goes through it.
- Care what survivors think.
- Survivors are mean! Fight back!
- Don't care what survivors think at all.
- Play for Bloodpoints.
- Wait, why am I still playing?
- I'm going to quit tomorrow, I swear it.
- None of this actually matters.
When everyone reaches step 7 so the game is nothing but screwing around and all forms of giving a crap disappear because people realize how pointless it really is, we'll all ascend to nirvana and experience true bliss for eternity.
Or something.
But seriously, every player seems to go through stages, and each time it's like "wow, I'm enlightened! I must tell the world!" Hey man, welcome to stage ___, let me check my watch to see when your next insight will hit.
Well said my friend!!
-
Thank goodness you showed up here with your 12 posts to free us of the yoke of survivor expectations.
We have all been anxiously awaiting your arrival.
I , now, can play killer with a full arsenal!!
-
This is no joke.
My lady and I did duo the other night. Like an easy 90% 3v1 all night.
Why does everyone kill themselves on first hook? We are coming. Ur not hitting 2nd stage. Damn, have some patience, gonna finish this gen.

I wish the hatch didn't exist but that's the issue, obviously. Sorry it sucks.
Yeah, but, unless you are newer, who gives a ######### about 3ks or 4ks.
And, wouldn't you want to reward those that are playing still, by letting them die? If not aren't you actually reinforcing the behavior of hiding, creating more people that will do this, because ######### it, you going get slugged anyway?
-
This is a silly biased statement assuming everyone who is running her is wearing top of the line headsets.
I myself played her a year before I even bought a cheap pair of headphones.
Also, so many people just cry about killers with no skill.
DS, Freddy, Spirit, Hag, LF, etc. Supposedly no skill. But , survivor, where you have to do 25% of the work, half of which is just doing a genny, oh that is skill.
Sorry, but you have a serious case, of Git Gud!!!
-
MM has been ######### up for awhile now.
Also there is a killer shortage, so after survivors are waiting for a while they expand the MM parameters.
-
Yeah, let's see your videos 4king every game at red ranks please.
-
Sorry, but no.
You buy the game, you grind for perks, play whatever the ######### you want.
If you are getting your as kicked as killer, well keep grinding, you will get better. Or you will depip and find equal competition.
And if you are afraid of SWFs, learn to lobby dodge. Q times are instant.
-
I run DS, not unbreakable. I hated to do it. Said I never would. But the tunnels are real fam.
And I am not judging or hating on killers for doing it, but I want to play the game. And this gives me a slight chance to stay in the game a little longer.
And if you get hit with DS by me. It is true tunneling. I run a fast medkit and heal. So you would have to find me again, chase me, hit me twice in 60 seconds.
-
I still have fun trying to get better at survivor. And getting drunk and swfing on a Friday Saturday night is a blast.
But I am definitely trying to find ways to make killer fresh again. I have recently been playing 2 survivor games, then playing as the last killer i faced with their build. That keeps it interesting. So far.
-
Yeah, I always work on objectives until I am dead. Work on chases when I am spotted.
But, please killers, when you keep finding me doing gennys, hook me.
I don't want to lie on the ground while you search for the cowardly #########. Let me start a new match!
-
Old mechanic
-
Damn bro, you really put the F U in fun.
It's just a game. Perhaps you need other hobbies.
-
Gonna have a lot of hook suicides.
-
Y are you even still using it?
Once the nerf was announced, I just leave it alone, get used to different builds.
-
Y not just have it so you instantly die when you use your ability?
Damn dude this is extreme.
-
All this time I was avoiding doing some of this. And survivors love it and are thankful?
This is great news!!! I will be sure to do this every game from now on.
You're welcome 😊
-
No, please no more one hit downs!!!
Although I reserve the right to change my opinion once I start my LF journey.
-
Every killer can lose to 4 optimal survivors. It is not like you are going to pick up Spirit and a set of headphones and just start 4king. Secondly it's not like every set of headphones are the same. I personally have just a 30 dollar walmart special, which really doesn't help all that much.
I would say she requires more skill than blood lusting with 115 speed killer. She has the potential to snowball, but she has a cooldown as well and can be looped by good survivors.
If she was so ez, then why don't all the killers crying about swf just run spirit and get those EZ 4ks?

I was until the queues started being around 15 minutes for me give and take afew. When I would forget I was even in queue only to come back dead or see a dead person in the game already I realized it already wasn't playing any more with the queues being bad at night for me so I only came back for the bp event recently to screw around for a bit. But yes, if the queues were 5 minutes or less for me still, I would still be playing and did still play against it those times. I just looked for the bones and hoped everybody else would too except when the killer was occupied and a couple of us could slam a gen out preferably mid or a different one that wouldn't leave us confined in the end. Sometimes other people would take care of the totem I noticed, they 'adapted' as survivors like to put it to the killers.
If somebody can run the killer around for a long time, that's a great time to get them out of the way and then go looking for the bones once the killer catches them or abandons them. If you haven't been hooked and can finish a gen int he killer's face just do it and eat the hook too sometimes. It beats it being reset. there are decisions that can be made around it, and it usually beats being slugged and doing jackshit half the game after a ten minute or more queue. That's what would lead me to quit the game right there on both sides finally if it was nothing but slugs and hatch matches after unbearable queues. A "hatch match" in that dark time would simply be playing like a coward the whole game and not risking reviving anybody slugged, only doing a gen to get the hatch to spawn later after waiting out their bleeding lol. I wouldn't trust a killer if they got me in thats ort of a game to not leave me with the choice of bleeding out for four minutes or taking the 4 minute dc penalty and checking through compendiums only to play something else the second bad slug match in a night. I'll take ruin and light slugging over something more boring any day evenw ith quicker queues.
Well I would certainly appreciate you as a teammate. My solo mates seem to make the most asinine decisions.
I literally watched, had kindred, three teammates constantly go trade hooks until all three were in a pile under the hook to a facecamping Bubba, while I completed 1 genny. Just FML in that moment. Hatch game with 4 gennys left.
The decision making in solo q at times can drive you crazy. Back to killer for the night.

when they're sitting and camping is the time anybody with half a brain knows it's time to slam gens against ruin, then go and find the totems once the killer is active again. ruin only does anything for a camper if the other survivors are brain dead or for some reason haven't figured out the killer is camping.
Yes. And have you played solo q in awhile?
-
That's a Hard No. Part of the fun in playing killer is the individuality of our own builds. Or just playing with different builds that work for different play styles.
-
I'd argue that many campers felt comfortable camping because they had ruin undying.
No you will actually have to apply your own pressure, and not have a couple of perks do it for you.
Not you as in personally, killer in general.

I've not heard of that person no.
I've been watching Scott Jund, another twitch/YouTube guy, and it seems he can only stomach a few hours of DBD a week now. I can't really blame him if he has thousands of hours on the game. I've been playing since October last year and it's already starting to grate on me lol
Yes, I agree. I have been playing going on 4 years now and I only play once or twice a week.
At least Scott still seems pleasant when he is playing. Goose just seems miserable, which sucks because he used to be so much fun.

I mean, the guy gets paid to literally play DBD all day, why would he complain?
Sure he seems a genuinely nice guy, but people act as if he does this for charity or something. He's probably on good money.
Have you watched Fungoose in a while?
He seems absolutely miserable anymore when playing DBD.
-
Look, I get it. These are all made up terms, with a myriad of subjective interpretations.
But , after playing this game for a number of years. Don't you ever get tired of the old tunnel dude out of game to get that 4k?
For me, I just try to avoid it. I have reached all my goals in this game and I am truly trying to play for fun. I hate getting straight tunneled out of the game as a survivor. So why would I do it to another person?
I get it if you are going for rank. But at some point even that doesn't matter anymore.
I play as "fair" as I can,, unless you BM me. Then I will sweat on your ass.
-
Unlucky. Ever notice how this always happens when you play killer and never when you play survivor?

What I usually do is just start walking away from the loop if I think she's phasing so if she's standing still faking she's forced to deal with the area I'm in and if she phases it's a guessing game on her end where I'm at unless I'm injured or she has stridor and I'm a character like Jeff that breathes loud.
Exactly, I 100% agree. I can't believe people still fall for the standing still spirit. Constantly be sneaking away if you can towards a stronger loop.
-
They said they have never released the actual reset time.
-
Mikey, Spirit, Wraith.
Of course this is all subjective. I also have fun with the Twins, I love zooming around as Victor
-
@jester20k said:
For some genius reason they have it so that if she begins phasing and you're in here terror radius at all, you don't hear it. Its bs and how spirit players, if you can call them that, stand at a down pallet and wait for.you to guess that they're phasing so you can jump across it into their face
That sounds like bad survivor play. Never do this. If you are unsure, run to the next loop. Never jump the pallet towards the Spirit.

I once had a survivor way too good at that and stayed up there to avoid me, super annoying.
No doubts. It was completely an accident for me. I am not a fan of using glitches against an opponent. I would have been annoyed as well.
-
He probably lunged out of the window and landed on the pillar. I once dropped very slowly out that window and landed on top of the door downstairs.
-
Buff spirit!!!
-
Yeah, not a swf issue. This is MM. New MMR is coming soon.
-
Damn, you went hardcore on this. NOED basekit!!!
If this gets a lot of up votes, it will only confirm the alleged killer bias of the forums, lol.
Honestly, it is not a bad idea. I would say maybe not lock the gates tho. You have earned the right to open the gates if you finish the gennys. Sure there will be the risk of NOED, but if you get the gate open and choose to leave, you should be able. The gates locked with NOED would make Blood Warden god tier.
I think the other problem you will run into is it will be a Noob stomper tho. Salty dogs will adapt, it will make for interesting end game plays. But noobs will just be crushed with the extra time in game, doing totems and the NOED endgame.
But I like where you are going. Thumbs up from me.
-
This is hard, because I do run a variety. Often I do two survivor games, and follow that up with a game as the last killer I faced using his build.
Gotta switch it up after so long to keep things fresh.
Survivor, i mainly run Tapp, Claudette, Elodie, David and Ace. My preferred build is BT, DH, DS and IW. My supersaver build is WGLF, We're gonna make it, sprint burst and Deliverance. I bring a Ranger kit with gel dressings and role of tape. I am a healing god. Pretty fun build, sprint to hooks, make save early. Get my deliverance and just heal all game.
Killer, Spirit is of course my first true love. I have been running a lot of the twins recently. For Spirit I run DH, Pop, Discordance and either HG or BBq.

Once again, here we go lumping a group of people into one category. It is not PC killers that are cheaters. It is cheaters that are cheaters.
I am sure not every PC killer is out there cheating.
-
I used to agree with this. But through discussion on the forums I have had my mind changed a bit. If it is a rare occurrence, then by time you log back in your ban should be over.
If it happens a lot, while sucky for you, It is still not fair to those you play with. To them it is the same as a DC.
