  • The groaning storehouse infinite was fixed? That's news to me.

  • No, survivors blessing totems over and over again can actually be good for the killer. I've played survivor in matches where my team could have gotten gens done and escaped, but we ended up all dying because they were too busy focusing on getting their boons back up.

  • I don't think he's the weakest killer in the game, but I do think he's the weakest of the given options.

  • As a killer main, I have to say windows. Strong pallets will eventually be dropped and then destroyed. Strong windows are permanent and you just kinda have to deal with it.

  • Because as funny as it was to completely stop wraith in his tracks with a singular flashbag, it wasn't exactly fair to him either.

    that's fantastic work!

thank you! I have a lot of fun making these so I'm glad people like it!

  • Well it's been one year since I last updated this, and since then we have gotten 4 new killers and one new general perk. It took me a while to get around to it, but I have created stat blocks for the last year of killers, as well as a ability description for shattered hope. Enjoy!

This upcoming year of DBD, I will try to make stat blocks for the new killers as they come out, instead of just doing them all at once at the end of the year.

  • I will pretty much always say Myers for these kinds of questions. Only killer in the game with a hard cap on how much use you can get out of his power and for that alone he deserves bottom tier at the very least.

And then without early game slowdown perks to help him get out of tier 1 before too much generator progress is done, the match is going to blow by before you can get the ball rolling.

Pain Res was not nerfed into the ground. If you get all 4 survivors on scourge hooks, that's worth more than the regression from 6 scourge hooks with the current version. In some cases the new version may actually end up being better for you.

CoB and OC definitely got hard nerfed but they both deserved it.

It can provide more regression now, but getting that regression has definitely been made a lot more difficult. Scourge Hook perks already rely on downing people in the right area (randomly determined), and now it requires downing the right people in the right area. Maybe the first one or two uses might not be hard to get, but if those last two people are chase gods, or going full immersion stealth, you may not ever get those last two uses. In theory it provides more regression overall, but I think in practice it will provide less because of this.

  • That is a cool idea. It could be neat to have unlockable hook skins, similar to how charms work too.

  • I don't run it super often as killer, but I like playing against it as survivor as it's one of the few things in the game that makes me experience genuine fear when it pops up. Same applies to Devour Hope tbh.

  • Of the two main theories floating around rn, I think Alien is more likely. Could be something else though. One thing I'm sure it's not is original.

Mall yeah, and something similar to the boat from r6s, i like this map so much.

Also now you've got me wondering what other R6S maps could work in DBD. Old Theme Park is the first map to come to mind. Hereford has decent atmosphere for it. I think Chalet could work really well if made a bit more bleak. Layout-wise, I can see Bank working pretty well too.

Recreating this in DBD would be pretty fun. I never would've though of a Yacht from a horror perspective, but from a gameplay perspective that would be super interesting, having a map with 4 different floor, with various access points from both inside and outside.

I want the mall that the Russians had their secret base under in Stranger Things.

    I also want:

    • A floating map that's high in a blue sky above an ocean. If you fall of the edges you get teleported to the middle (or die maybe). I'd like it to have ancient Greek architecture.
    • Ancient Egyptian map that introduces Mummies as Legendary Cosmetics for Tentacle Daddies Zombies.
    • Dense and tall Bamboo forest with loud streams of water running through it.
    • Hawkins Laboratory.
    • Giant Pirates ship that is stuck on a beach.
    • Volcano map with lava that flows throughout the map.
    • I don't know how it would work with the games potato engine but an Underwater map would be cool.
    • Vegas map that includes a casino and when Whiskers throws someone into a slot machine, it starts to jingle and spews money.

I would honestly love to see an Ancient Egyptian map, especially the interior of a pyramid. Lately I've been really wanting a game to channel the aesthetic of that old Courage The Cowardly dog flash game on the cartoon network website from back in the day.

  • Boon: Dark Theory is a perk I actually quite enjoy running. I know the effects are minimal, but I really like the perk as a concept so I run it anyways.

  • She could already kinda be bullied by someone running around and intentionally triggering all your traps while you're trying to chase someone else. This will just make her camping less effective, which was a much needed change imo.

How is Myers paranormal? He is just a man behind the mask with a knife as weapon. Cenobite too is a supernormal. He is a human with some supernatural powers so he goes to category 2 too.

I put him in there cause he's straight up the incarnation of pure evil. I'm not super familiar with the hellraiser series tbh, but I put Cenobite in there cause it's my understanding that he hails from a different world/dimension or something.

  • If I'm being camped and you are going to try to rescue me, just do it or don't. Stop wasting time by standing around. The killer hasn't moved for 30 straight seconds, he's not going to start now.

  • Because a strategy that arises because of the core game mechanics is much more complicated of a fix than fixing an feature that's too strong. It's easy to make a perk that's strong less strong, but it is incredibly difficult to come up with a solution to a base game issue that isn't exploitable in some way, shape or form.

And let's be real, the devs do not ignore the community. The community isn't always happy with the changes the devs make, but they have shown time and time again that they listen to the community and value their feeback. Just look at the recent PTB. People complained that the healing nerfs were way too much, so they scaled them back. The community said the hillbilly engraving addons were a bad idea, so they rolled them back. People said the Pain Res nerfs made it too weak, so they buffed the regression is causes to compensate. People said the CoH changes made it too weak, so they bumped up the healing speed boost.

The devs do listen to this community, both sides of it in fact, and I'm kinda tired of hearing they're biased in one direction. They have the unenviable task of having to balance one of the hardest pvp genres to balance in all of gaming, so not every change is going to be perfect. And I'm sure they realize just how complicated of a task combatting camping is. I'm sure they've had several ideas, tested them, and then found it made the game less healthy. I would much rather them take a really really long time to come up with a fix that's good than just throw out a change that makes the game much worse for an extended period of time.

This. Hit a Feng while Haunted Grounds was active and she just didn't enter the dying state. That was a hmmmm moment for sure.(No one was running vigil, I checked)

  • I think it's mainly because hex perks are generally more powerful than boons.

Boon effects are things like: heal faster, recover from dying state, 2% speed boost, hide scratch marks. And these are in a small area.

Hexes do things like expose everyone for a minute, make survivors instakillable, regress gens automatically, and significantly slow gen progress. Also these effects are global.

  • This is kinda a difficult one to answer. I care enough that I don't go out of my way to play in scummy ways. But I also care about my enjoyment more than theirs, which leads me to play scummy if I think I'm losing control of the match and need to get it back fast.

Although I basically never slug last person for the 4k unless the last person or their scratch marks are in my sightline when I down the 2nd to last survivor. Been on the receiving end of that one too many times to do it to another person.

  • Dragon's Grip. A cool concept for a powerful perk that is completely ruined by the fact that it's super long cooldown triggers whether or not the perk actually exposes someone.

  • The DH change was a nerf. This change prevents you from using it at all before you've already been hooked.

  • I've always though that huntress iri addon that isn't her iri head should make it so that you regain hatchets you get successful hits with. I think the 16 meter thing for the heads is good. Basekit instadowns is a very powerful thing to have, so some skill should definitely be required to get them.

  • I have been getting tunneled and camped by Knights a lot lately. It's gotten to the point where the moment I know they're playing Knight, I know it's gonna be a bad match.

  • If you're on PC/Steam have you tried verifying the integrity of your game files?

  • It's posts like this that made me wish we still had the downvote button.

I like liminal spaces but they wouldn't fit DBD in anyway. First of all the whole premise of liminal spaces is built upon psychological horror, while DBD focuses more on the slasher/serial killer genre. The closest thing we have to psychological horror in DBD is the Silent Hill chapter and while I liked the adaptation it is VERY different from the games, just look how buffed Pyramid is compared to his version in SH2.

The map to feel liminal would also have to be insanely huge and confusing to navigate, which would feel annoying to most of the playerbase. Things like generators sounds, the killer's terror radius, pallets and loops would also ruin the whole atmosphere.

I could definitely see the heartbeat messing up the liminal vibes, but on the flip side I could imagine stealth killers being especially scary to face on liminal maps.

  • @HarryMasonEnjoyer said:

silent hill 3's fog world designs are very, very, VERY good inspiration for this purpose. i know most people think of the otherworld when they think silent hill where it's all grungy and rusty and gross, but the fog world sections feel distinctly empty and uncomfortable in much the same way a lot of "liminal horror" being referenced here does

basically give us our second silent hill chapter Right Now Immediately

That does make a lot of sense, the atmosphere of those places feels distinctly different from what they should typically feel like. Admittedly I've never actually played a Silent Hill game, but I would definitely be down for another SH chapter. At that point it wouldn't even be debatable that in recent history BHVR has done more with the Silent Hill license than Konami has.

  • @BabyShrimp said:

I find liminal spaces very comforting. I wouldn't be against a liminal inspired chapter, especially if they can make the killer creepy. I feel like a killer for a liminal chapter could potentially be iconic and meaningful for a lot of players.

Although Pyramid Head already gives me a liminal vibe, I wouldn't mind them taking it a step further.

A liminal killer would definitely be really cool. The devs typically go for very human, identifiable killers, with dredge being the main exception that comes to mind. I definitely would love to see what they might come up with for a largely featureless killer.

  • You could stop wraith in his tracks at the drop of a hat with a firecracker or a flashbang. I'm not sure I'd call that fair.

  • Also, while I have a hard time seeing Demo get a clicker skin, I could imagine The Clown getting a Bloater skin.

  • I'd kinda like the Clicker to be it's own killer tbh. Actually drafted up an idea for a TLoU chapter if anyone's at all interested in checking it out.

    @Chordyceps said:

    New Killer: The Clicker

    Speed: 4.6 m/s

    Terror Radius: 12 meters

    Height: Average

    Weapon: Overgrown Claw

    Difficulty: Hard

    Power: Cordyceps Mutation

Once a regular human, The Clicker has been overtaken by a late stage cordyceps based virus that has turned them into no more than a beast. This virus has robbed The Clicker of their sight, but has granted them increased strength and echolocative abilities.

The Clicker cannot see survivors further than 8 meters away from itself. Survivors running, repairing generators and performing rushed actions while within 48 meters of The Clicker have their aura revealed to The Clicker. Survivors walking within 16 meters of The Clicker have their aura revealed to The Clicker

    Special Ability: Echolocation

The Clicker makes clicking noises in order to echolocate those near it. Press the active ability button to create a clicking noise that reveals the auras of survivors within 12 meters of you and in your Field of View for 3 seconds. This has a cooldown of 2 seconds.

    Special Ability: Berserk

Once The Clicker has locked onto its prey, it loses all rationality as it hunts it down. When The Clicker reads a survivor’s aura, Berserk charges up. Berserk activates automatically when it is fully charged (about 10 seconds worth of aura reading). Upon activation, The Clicker screams and gains a 7% boost to movement speed, recovers from stuns 30% faster and can put healthy survivors into the dying state. Berserk lasts for 8 seconds, and when it ends The Clicker is slowed down for a short period of time.

    Perks:

    Go For The Jugular:

You instinctively know where to target your attacks to deal the most damage.

Survivors you put into the dying state with your basic attack recover 30%/40%/50% slower and are inflicted with the Deep Wound status effect upon recovery.

    (Unlocks at Level 30)

    Dormant Rage:

You lie in wait for prey to release your rage upon.

For every 30 seconds spent not in a chase, you gain a token, up to a maximum of 2/3/4.

Whenever you start a chase, you gain a 4% speed boost for 1 second per token.

    (Unlocks at Level 35)

    Scourge Hook: Rot

You leave a path of death and decay in your wake. Whenever you hook a survivor, that hook becomes a scourge hook. Up to a maximum of 4/5/6 scourge hooks can appear in the trial. Survivors within 24 meters of scourge hooks suffer a -15% penalty to repair, healing and sabotage speeds.

    (Unlocks at Level 40)

    New Survivor: Joel Miller

    Perks:

Scrounger: You know how to make the most out of the resources at your disposal. When you find an item in a chest or on the ground, while holding an item, right click to consume the item on the ground and restore 50%/66%/75% of your held item's charges.

    (Unlocks at Level 30)

    Deeper Connection:

You take a while to warm up to others, but once you do, you work together excellently. You start the trial with a -10% debuff to your cooperative action speed. By spending time within 4 meters of other survivors, your cooperative action speed gradually increases to a +15% speed boost. It takes 80/70/60 seconds to reach the maximum cooperative action speed bonus.

    (Unlocks at Level 35)

Nail Bomb: You know how to make traps that would brutalize normal humans. At an empty chest, you can interact with the chest for 14/13/12 seconds to craft a nail bomb. You can do this once per chest.

While Carrying a nail bomb: right click to lay the nail bomb down at your current location.

When a killer steps within 2 meters of your nail bomb, it explodes, stunning them for 4 seconds.

The nail bomb can be picked back up at any time before detonation.

    (Unlocks at Level 40)

  • He really needs a buff, and there's something really unique he does in the films that they could use, something I've never seen another horror villain do.

He DRIVES A CAR, LET MYERS DRIVE A CAR IN DBD #CARFORMYERS

  • I can tell you the reason I don't play her very often. She's one of the few killers in the game where I feel like I need to use her power perfectly to get value out of it. The window of time in which you can damage a swarmed survivor always feels so small, to the point where if I'm even a fraction of a second off I don't deal damage. I still play her every now and again cause I like to play a different killer every match, but she's one of my least played for that reason. I legit play Twins more often than her.

  • What if it actually darkened your screen a little or added a vignette or something? I've definitely had times in chases where I screwed up because the darkness from late stage deep wound made it hard to see, so it could be pretty effective.

  • I believe I'm currently sitting at 201/221. Most of the ones I'm missing are killer adepts (even tho I main killer lmao). Im also missing a few like down people with longshots as huntress, kill 4 people in evil within 3, chain 3 blinks and grab someone and open an exit gate and escape RPD 20 times.

  • Imagine Nemesis on Hawkins. Those hallways are so narrow that in most of the map, zombie hits will be guaranteed.

  • I love the perks for this killer and would love to see them come into the game.

Mech: Hex is a really cool concept for a risk/reward type perk where you have to choose how long you leave it up to get maximum value from it, but not let it get cleansed. Kinda wonder if you could get away with making it respawn if it gets snuffed instead of cleansed, or if that would be too strong.

Prize Token sounds like fun, a combination time waster/status inflicting perk could be decently useful.

Special Delivery sounds like a pretty terrifying perk to face that's balanced out by the need for hooks. Honestly I think you can get away with making the number for that smaller and closer together, something like every 5/4/3 unhooks.

The power I'm conflicted on. It's thematically appropriate, and gives the survivors a lot to deal with, but doesn't sound super engaging for the killer to use. Also he should definitely be a 4.6 m/s killer considering he has no chase power. Also at 4.0 m/s the animatronics would be unable to catch anyone running in a straight line.

  • @Chocolate_Cosmos said:

This is how battlepass in all video games work tho. Of course they will give you the best stuff at the end and split the good and bad between from start to finish.

And I think this shouldn't be the case for any game. And not being able to complete a set is a little different from having better cosmetics towards towards the end of the rift.

  • I can basically guarantee you I am definitely going to run Overzealous after this buff. I already liked the perk as a concept, but couldn't justify bringing it due to multiple issues that plagued it.

Firstly, it was removing totems that me or my team could use for boons. This is no longer an issue.

Secondly, you could only use this 5 times max (this number goes down if your teammates cleanse totems for whatever reason), with varying effectiveness depending on the time between you getting it and you being hit. This issue has also been fixed.

Thirdly, there is a chance for you to get no value out of this perk, for reasons listed in the previous issue.

This buff fixes basically all these issues. And hey, if you're going to be setting up a boon anyways, it'd be nice to get a bonus to gen speed to make up for the time you spent blessing that totem.

  • Nevermind, the file works fine, my computet just for whatever reason didnt want to automatically play a music file in e media player. The mixing is a little muddy, but having a chase theme that prominently features a choir is pretty cool, and it's definitely a super intense theme.

  • I wanna check out the chase music, cause I think including that is super cool, but the file you included is giving me some troubles.

  • You know multiple things can be a problem at once right?

  • Deal with them? Sure entitlement can be annoying, but everyone deserves to have their opinion heard,

  • As a killer main seeing a dead hard nerf makes me happy, but I need to put my bias aside and look at this from another angle. One of my least favorite ways to change a perk is taking a perk that's activation is already pretty conditional and then making it even more conditional, which is essentially what they've done here.

  • The Pain Resonance thing was basically the only thing I took issue with for this update. It feels weird to take a perk that already only triggers on specific hooks and then add ANOTHER condition to that. Now to get use out of it you have to not only down people in a specific area, you have to down specific people in a specific area.
