Self Care needs a rework. In it's current state it does more harm than good. If BHVR has to nerf a perk so hard that it becomes mostly useless then it should just get reworked into something else.
-
I tried out RA + BM + WT. It was fun, although it did mess up the HUD.
-
Just make it so you don't lose energy if you get hit. You already get a poor conversion on the energy you store, there's no need for it to have another weakness.
-
Unfortunately, for the most part the killer will set the tone of the match. If they are in a bad mood you probably won't have a good time.

https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/384462/how-is-singularity-designed-to-be-played
I been putting a lot of time into him recently and been seeing some success especially today starting to get more and more 4k's. Playing him like hag is a total trap and you'll probably lose more often than not playing them like that. When trying to play a killer I try to figure out what they're built to counter because generally BHVR has a tendency of going "players are complaining about X let's make a killer that beats survivors doing X".
For Singularity I think they were built to counter holding W. His greatest strength is the ability to hit a survivor and then totally negate any distance they make by instantly teleporting to them. The basic flowchart for singularity is just space your pods out shooting wherever you just want wide map coverage then when you find a survivor you want to put a pod down in chase and tag them. From there you literally just teleport to them over and over until they go down and pallets can't stop you. From there is where the Singularity's other strength comes in and that's map presence because after the hook you just check your pods for someone else and you can get in another chase instantly.
This is why people struggle so much trying to play Singularity, he is the most always be doing stuff killer in the game and if you're playing him well you basically should have close to zero down time. You should always be placing pods, replacing damaged pods, tagging survivors with your pods or in chase. He's also a very snowball-y killer I find myself slugging with him more than any other killer I've ever played because if you have the chance to infect somebody or teleport to another survivor to get another down you should probably take it because that's when he's at his strongest when everyone is infected and you're just getting constant downs and instantly teleporting to the next survivor giving them no room to breath.
I don't know that I can really compare them to anyone in the game cuz they are very unique but if I had to stretch it I'd say they're like what everyone thought Dredge was going to be like with constantly cutting survivors off by teleporting to lockers and having amazing map mobility before we realized the teleport was insanely slow and locking lockers actually destroyed any chance of a fast paced chase style.
But if you want the tl;dr he's built around countering holding w and having map wide presence.
Useful info. Much appreciated.

The only thing I've found that even kind of works with him is playing him like a bad version of Hag. If you try to play chase oriented against good players, you're going to get EMP'd constantly. He's an M1 killer with extra steps to become a slightly better M1 killer. I genuinely think he's bottom tier with the likes of Trapper. I do better on Huntress and I play her once every 3 months and can't aim
This is what I've seen with him so far. The way I see him played is just like Hag, Knight and Skunk Merchant. Cover the gens and proxy camp the hook. I hope it's just the learning curve of the character and not the optimal way to play him. I can't handle another zone defence killer after The Knight and The Skunk.
-
I think I can tell I'm not high MMR as Blight is one of the least common killers I play against. He's not rare, but I see much more variety of killers. Although I meet a lot of Nurses... and not the one's that keep blinking into the basement by accident. Loads of Pig, but no booping. Also the army of Wraith players who BM on the hook at a rate of about 96%.

@Seraphor said:
Kudos to you. If I had been your Pig, I would have let you go for one chase.
Usually survivors only try to boop when they've already won and are a stones throw from the open exit gate.
I tend to go for it at the start of the match. But I was determined as hell to try and eventually died trying.

Maybe they could make CoH stronger but make it cause exhaution when healed so it can't be abused. Or maybe have people who are healed in it's radius gain endurance for a few seconds. Something to make it a bit spicier. I have no idea how to buff the others without them becoming too strong.

The only time I ever lobby dodge is due to players who are using anon mode, as 90% of them just use it to hide the "Multiple Vac Bans on Record".
What's a VAC ban? Is it a PC thing?

Calm Spirit. I took it off once, played against a Doctor and it became basekit from then on.

Honestly, the boons look great on paper, but in practice they kind of suck. I always liked the one that hides scratch marks. But it's hard to get use out of.
I have no clue how they could improve boons though. Maybe improve them and make killers destroy them when the snuff them out to balance out the strength? I dunno.

Solo queue definitely needs improving. Has BHVR ever shown any statistics for how solo queue performs vs SWF? I'm genuinely curious how much of a gap there is between the two.

I curious what people think. I would rather get stomped, even if it leads to bags at the gate and a toxic post game chat than go against new/bad players. At least I might be able to learn something from really good players.
I am far better on killer though. When it comes to survivor I enjoy going against better players still but not the killers who have 4 hooks at 5 gens and are still camping out a second stage. Although it's pretty rare to see the super omega sweats that apparently are so common.
The game just feels like work when I am essentially culling puppies. It's like being a high rank player in League or apex smurfing in bronze, I just can't see how it's fun.
I'd rather be frustrated than bored I guess.
I do think there are many people who play this game who would want to hard smurf on both sides if they could.
I find that killers are at their most toxic at low MMR but survivors are at their most toxic at high MMR. If I loop a low MMR killer well for a minute or two, when they do down me they will mald really hard and BM me on the hook till I die. High MMR killers won't do that. They even give me a nod on hook if I run them well. Low MMR survivors are too scared to BM, but higher MMR survivors will teabag like it's a right of passage lmao
If I have the choice, I'd rather get teabagged than get hit on the hook for a few minutes. One definitely feels worse than the other.
-
@thefarklingking said:
Most people commenting seem to be the kind of people who love BMing, I'd bet most of them get mad when the killer smacks them on hook. I am a survivor main, btw. Not in the fake way like most people try to say to make a point, I am prestige 38 on Felix. I will admit I am making this comment because I am butthurt, I won't lie there, but come on guys, no one has made a single argument other than 'Git Good'
Sorry to say it but there's a difference between killer and survivor BM. Sure, a teabag is disrespectful, but it doesn't impair the killer's ability to play the game. On the other hand, if a killer BM's a survivor, that usually results in the survivor not getting to play for the rest of the match.
Although I do wish that survivors would use their teabags more situationally. It's sometimes hard to know whether a teabag is meant to be a sign of disrespect or whether it's just a victory dance at the exit gates.

The majority of the threads made here by players are posted roughly 1.5 minutes after they lose a match. So it's just a tornado of emotion and anger. I'd be lying if I said I missed that. Despite that, you can find players on here that you can have enjoyable conversations with. I've booped more snoots on here in the last few months than I have in-game.
I oversee a multiplayer stream for a friend, and sometimes certain players will turn up almost everyday, and despite winning more than most, as soon as they lose a match they go into chat and have a meltdown. The person who won doesn't even get a chance to enjoy the moment as there's a ton of hysteria that kills any fun vibes. Despite being offered constructive advice on multiple occasions they continue their behaviour so now they get timed out every time they rage post in chat.
Some people, especially online, really don't care about the social settings they visit. They are prepared to poison the atmosphere for everyone as long as they get to make themselves feel better by screeching at the top of their lungs. The world needs less of that.

I'm glad nobody wants to play this killer. I haven't seen one in months and I am very happy about that.

Oh, I'm sure, but there has been a suggestion before for killers to get 4 extra perk slots when facing a SWF.
Anyway, four perks is the sweet spot. Any more and you throw the balance out of whack as it opens up too much synergy. Crazy builds would just be the tip of the iceberg and neither side would end up being happy.
In all fairness, is anyone here ever happy? I say light it up with fireworks.
-
@Kaitsja said:
No. The fact that there are only 4 perk slots acts as a limitation on what builds you can come up with that would otherwise be way too strong. Let's say we had 8 perk slots, here's a build for both sides that I've come up with off the top of my head.
Killer: Jolt, Pain Res, Enduring, Spirit Fury, Lethal Pursuer, Devour, Undying, Haunted
Survivor: Adrenaline, Made for This, Resilience, Stake Out, Hyperfocus, Built to Last, This is Not Happening, Windows of Opportunity.
I wasn't thinking quite that many perk slots, but expanding it by one or two could be interesting.
@BlueMoonBRUHMOMENT said:
"Forcing" players to only use 4 slots is perfectly fine already.
Plus I believe that the balance would be wayyyyyy out of wack. For example:
Flip-flop, Tenacity, Unbreakable, Power-Struggle PLUS an exhaustion perk or boil over? that'd be insane.
And 4 is really the sweet spot, IMHO if survivors got 5 each, there should be 6 slots for killer but maybe that's a hot take.
As long as the change benefitted both sides equally I wouldn't mind things being out of wack. Crazy builds are the best ones.
-
4 is enough to do alot, but I'd be curious to see what you could come up with just by adding a single perk slot.
-
End game seems to be when everything falls apart in my experience. Maybe it's a solo queue thing.
-
If there is a region that has to VPN to get a match, then BHVR should really consider adding servers for them. Hopefully it's under consideration.
-
Deja Vu is fine. It's not busted and is really useful in solo queue to stop yourself getting stuck in a 3 gen at the end.
-
I'm gonna add Counterforce. Seeing the furthest totem for 4 seconds isn't great unless you already know the totem spawns well. I just used it against an AFK Cenobite and I still lost track of where it was.
I feel like I need to pair it with another perk, but that's two perk slots just to find the totems and undo the damage done by Calm Spirit. It feels a bit overkill.

Like many have said, please remove the speed decrease on CS. It's so bad I often go to find someone, then lead them to the hex instead of doing myself.

I get people don't like MFT, but is sitting around malding in these threads doing you any good? It's like people actually want to be angry all time time and actively seek out things that p* them off.

Dh always seems to go first. And like others have said, no one ever boops the snoot anymore. I will take them to the totem to break if they do. :(

I only play in solo queue, so getting to meme is the best part of the game for me. Booping da snoot, dodging a hatchet and then throwing a pebble back at the Huntress. If these things didn't exist I don't know if I'd still be playing after 400 hours or so. I'm looking forward to the NC perks. I can't wait to dodge a hatchet by dropping dead ๐

I'm sorry, you must be new to solo queue. So just to clarify, they wouldn't have to get off the gens because at least 2 of them are probably already not on a gen... or a totem... or healing... or opening a chest... or being chased... And so on and so forth... :(
On a real note i like playing with and against devour hope. It adds a moment of doom when it procs or relief when you cleanse it. And it's always a chance perk really on whether or not someone spawns on top of it.
I dream of the day I spawn on top of a hex totem. That's not meant to sound dirty, I just can't find totems most of the time.

that's gotta be the dumbest and most pointless offer i've ever seen.
for example, okay, let's say all the other 3 are dead and i'm the last one standing with literally 3+ gens left. so, what do you expect me to do? somehow repair them all in 2 minutes without the killer finding me and escaping through the gate peacefully? don't tell me that hatch is too "op" for you at this point. it's way better to end the match soon than being left there for an whole hour hiding in lockers
You don't repair gens when there's only one person left. The gates/hatch open up after the third survivor is dead.
-
Whenever I encounter that perk it's always paired with about 70 other hex totems, and I run CS on every class. So it takes me roughly 4.5 years to cleanse each totem ๐ด

why do survivors get a free escape for losing the game?
if bhvr is just gonna hand out base kit perks for survivors to enforce the rule book hatch should be removed it would fix alot of issue with survivors sitting on hatch and stalling out the game because the killer must watch them leave.
thoughts?
Without hatch, 3K basically guarantees a 4K. As there's no way survivors are getting those doors open solo. Escapes like that are incredibly rare. I think the hatch is fine.

Whilst body blocking can be annoying, like others have said, it's a core part of working as a team. Giving up your protection to protect another team member kind of comes naturally after a while. Assuming you care about the experience of your teammates that is. Yun-Jin players can ignore everything I've said so far.
I have been body blocked by killers maybe twice, and by a couple of Dwight's. You should definitely lose collision when the crows form.
@JPLongstreet said:
Survs trading health states is one of the most effective forms of teamwork in this game. It's also sadly often needed to interrupt a hard tunnel.
Smart timely blocking will usually benefit the team overall, whether it's allowing a reset to the team or slowing momentum. But the reverse is true as well. Unwise blocking should lead to the snowballing that can bring everything to a screeching halt.
๐๏ธ๐๐ท
-
Do you think that would stop players from tunneling? I think tunneling will always be prevalent as it's the easiest way to win. The only thing that will stop it is something that really impedes the killer's ability to do it.
I'm not a fan of framing one side as being forced to do anything. In most situations players have automony in how they choose to play. Killers will often tunnel in all manner of circumstances. Even if 5 minutes goes past and no gens are done yet. They are plenty of scenario's where tunneling becomes necessary, but a lot of it is just killers taking the easiest path to victory.
I give credit to killers who are good enough at the game to hook everybody 3 times before the match ends. It's a tall order. I'd love to see something like the game making it necessary to hook different survivors, but reducing hook states to two. Something like that. That way the game stops killers tunneling but reduces the amount of work they need to do in order to win.
I'm desperately waiting to see the new gamemode they are working on. I hope it's so much better that it becomes the primary mode.

I didn't. As I said, they deserve their reports (assuming op did report them). But framing it as: "Look, killers are so toxic." isn't right when both sides did it. It was 4 players that deserved to be reported here, not just 1.
Also, I didn't say anything about 'bad survivors'. To me disconnecting and holding someone hostage are the same. They are both against the rules and when you start to measure bannable offenses with different metrics it's a slippery slope. This only leads you to a point where you tolerate some bannable offenses and condemn others, which in the process makes you a hypocrit.
Nobody said anything about killers being toxic. They were just talking about the killer who was holding the OP hostage. You preemptively jumped in to say that the players who DC'd are also bad, which wasn't really necessary. It's weird that you see a survivor being griefed for doing absolutely nothing wrong and your first thought is something along the lines of: "Well, the survivors who DC'd are also bad". I'm pretty sure everyone knows and recognises this. So I'm not sure what the point in saying it was.
Also, the players who DC'd are not as bad as the Nurse player who decided to punish the one player who didn't DC because the others left. Not even close.
-
@1ettuce said:
100% agreed, except balanced bc its situational, its fine if map offerings dont exist.
Gotta love the cringe comments making non existent points and just jumping to "yeah lets just start survivors dead ๐ค"
In all fairness, the OP's post is somewhat hysterical. It's not a constructive discussion on balance, it's: "NO downsides". Despite causing exhaution (which screws over other perks) and taking up a perk slot. It's: "ZERO skill". Unlike walking forward and pressing attack.
It's just a rant from a frustrated player. I don't think people need to respond to it seriously.

So average killers should just get consistently stomped by SWF so survivors that don't even do gens can escape often enough? SWFs should enjoy an extremely high escape rate? Sounds awful. It's not the devs problem that people load in and rage quit against Pig cause they got yoinked off a gen or that they only came in to open chests. Those are the problems with solo queue and the devs can't fix baby rage quitters or people who don't care
No. I want the game to be balanced in a way that doesn't screw over solo queue players. Buffing killers whilst solo queue is such a mess just makes solo queue even worse. I'm not sure why you think it's unfair for average Killers to struggle against SWF, but it's okay if solo queue (the majority of the playerbase) gets made even weaker. I personally think both situations suck.
Solo queue isn't weak just because the matchmaking prioritises speed over matching players appropriately or survivors rage quitting. There's just stuff that is inherently harder to deal with. Try breaking a 3 gen in solo with no communication, it's a miserable experience even after the gen regression nerfs.
SWF holds solo queue hostage, but there's no way to nerf SWF directly. All you can do is water down survivor tools or buff killers to compensate. But that screws over solo queue in it's current form. At no point should you harm the majority of players who already play the weakest role in the game just to harm SWF.
I think they need to keep improving the solo queue experience. That way they can buff average killers without making solo queue increasingly unplayable.
-
I feel like she's the only killer that has to be played badly for you to be able to beat them. If the Nurse is roughly as skilled as the survivors, the match will almost always result in a win for the Nurse. You have to be a much better survivor to dodge blinks than you do to land a blink as Nurse. That's not even accounting for aura reading which makes her blinks even easier to land.
Even after the nerfs she's still too strong. But she needs nerfs that don't require Nurse players to relearn her from scratch. I haven't put a ton of time into learning her, but some people have spent 1000's of hours learning her. So their time investment shouldn't be patched out of the game.
-
How weak are they in reality though? Killers already dominate solo queue, which is the majority of the playerbase. You can buff them to compete with high level SWF's but it will result in even more one-sided matches for players in solo queue. Imagine if Doctor and Wraith were as powerful as Blight, but with none of the work needed to play them well. Solo queue would be even worse, and it's already an awful way to play survivor.
I'd like to see buff's to weaker killers to add some variety to the killers I face, but I feel like solo queue needs more work first.
