Wraith is the perfect starter package. His power has potential, but it's extremely straightforward and easy to get used to.
-
One of the new "improvements" they have made to matchmaking is that super high skill killers can now play against people with even lower skill than before. Come on, don't tell me some 8k+ hour Nurse having a little variety is not more important than having balanced matches and for everyone else to have fun.
-
Yes, I love being a walking bloodpoint pinata for the Nurses and Blights that should be versing Cope tier survivors every single game, I'm so freaking relieved they get varied matches.

It always amazes me the people, especially streamers, that will say that kicking a pallet or a kicking a gen is a "waste of time", but will spend a full minute trying to mind game the same dropped pallet.
"I can mindgame this!"
"..."
"Lets just break this pallet"
*DING*
-
No. It doesn't matter how much they tweak the ranges, eScape Based MM =/= skill. As long as that fundamental flaw is not addressed, people will not be facing others of similar skill level, leading to unfun stomps. Had 5 matches, exactly one managed to progress to an exit gate opening, nobody belonged in the same lobby.
-
The devs don't give a ######### about balancing, so we have to do it ourselves, simple as that. We can still judge what is balanced and what needs to be changed. If we had balanced matches we wouldn't need to lose MMR in the first place.
-
Remember how every single day during the MMR test people were vocalizing just how bad their games were? Now they've made that permanent. And hid the grades so that every single bad game can be chalked up as a fringe case.
-
But aren't you glad that some super experienced player that already stomps most of his opposition now can have even more boring matches where his opponents stand even less of a chance against him? Because I sure am that BHVR got their priorities set straight!
-
I put on meme builds like Backpack Blight and mess around to lower my MMR without deliberately throwing so that I can pip up and get that sweet juicy bloodpoint reward again the next month.
-
-You don't need skill to get Iri rank 1!
-But I've never gotten to Iri rank 1 despite playing a lot every month...
-Wow, you must suck!
-???
-
I don't think I've ever gone up against the same killer in consecutive games, but it happens every couple of weeks that I see the same person in the same gaming session.
-
Super high ranked killers and survivors will have easier matches since they can stop on people even more below their level <3
-
Wow, BHVR doesn't waste any time when they are implementing a change for the worse...Goodbye SoloQ, you were fun (occasionally) until you could be played!
-
At least we'll have threads dedicated to how OP Sprint Burst and Overcome are and that nobody is using any other exhaustion perk!
-
I don't like giving them the satisfaction of watching them click and t-bag. I go into the basement and do other stuff on my computer while they are wasting their time.
-
Behavior would literally need to enforce the casual playstyle to some extent, but do you honestly think they would give unhooked survivors 1 minute of invulnerability, disable the ability to pick meta perks like DH/IW etc? Of course not, it would be an honor system and it would fail miserably because people would still play sweaty (which is just a fancy term for not throwing).
-
Just let a survivor that's being slugged for more than 30 seconds with only one other survivor still alive make the choice of giving up so that they instantly die. This uses up all of their remaining hook states with the associated bloodpoints, emblems etc.
-
Actually, nerfing perks wouldn't be enough, you also have to take maps into consideration since playing on Sheltered Woods and Gideon are nothing alike and a barely achieved win on one could be an utter stomp on the other. Unfortunately, BHVR is more preoccupied with hiding grades and giving bully squads and killers easier games than to, you know, actually balance the game and make it fun. If you aren't enjoying the game now, I'm sad to say it's only downhill from here.
-
What I hate most about 4ks is that the competitive side of me will absolutely urge me to hunt down the last survivor, while the rational bit is screaming at me to just close hatch and let them escape through a gate so that my MMR isn't raised too much. It literally doesn't matter how a game ends, I'll be miserable.
-
All those super good killers that are absolutely destroying any and all opposition with the rare exception of a super sweaty and competitive squad bringing 4 BNPs where they actually have to turn on their brains for five seconds will have easier matches! Aren't you happy more people that shouldn't be facing them will now become their fodder? After all, killers are always complaining about the game being survivor sided, so why not buff the strongest killers? Make sense right? Just like in hockey!
-
I'm so relieved to know that all those Nurses that 12 hook the entire team in less than 4 minutes can now do so in 3 minutes 50 seconds, you truly got your priorities straight devs <3
-
They don't care. They have already decided it's more important to give 8k+ hour Blight and Nurse mains "more variety" (translation: easier games) than to actually balance the game.
-
Two things.
First, people love to say that grade based matchmaking pairs up new and experienced people against one another, but have any of you played with SBMM? It's literally the same #########, baby survivors are going up against nurses that 4k in 2 minutes and 4 stack SWFs utterly annihilate killers that don't even have all of their perk slots unlocked. The SBMM system does not work and it doesn't even solve the problem people claim it is solving. It literally does the exact opposite and with the new changes it's going to be even more a lax system, allowing for all those Nurses and Blights to 4k with even less effort.
Two, this was an incredibly cheap and horrible way to "test" grade based matchmaking. The point of that system was that you only lost one grade bracket every reset, separating the rank 1s from the rank 15s. With the current system resetting everyone to 20 anyhow, it was never going to be a representative test and just shows that the devs are willing to bend the facts in their favor so that their utter thrash SBMM seems viable.
-
Casual. If I still wasn't only halfway there with the BP grind, I would always let the last survivor get hatch. I enjoy a fun interaction with survivors (like nodding after a good pallet stun or when I force them into a corner) far more than a 4k. Same with survivor, I don't mind dying too much, so long as it's not a 4man slug Nurse, Basebement Bubba or Blight absolutely wrecking the field with opponents that should never be loaded into that lobby.
-
Actually not. If you read the feedback for every single day, or better yet, have played during the MMR test days, you'll notice that the changes made the SBMM system even more of a wretched torture than it already was. Now they are just going to permanently muck it up.
-
It's really funny that they could have just tweaked the grades system to be more indicative of skill, instead they are trying to shove this fertilizer based matchmaking down our throats despite being a massive failure in every form and iteration. It doesn't matter how tight the number ranges are devs, as long as they don't mean anything, and they don't because skill=escape/kill oversimplifies to the point of it being completely useless, it's not going to change anything. High level killers will stomp baby survivors and the cracked survivor teams will bully the newbie killers. Really is a mercy kill once the servers shut down due to a lack of players buying the 10.000th Feng Min cosmetics.
-
Wonderful. If they would actually change something that has an impact like removing depipping, instead of something they are tired of reading. Why not give everyone an instant win button if we are at it? People are going to grumble about losing so we can solve that issue too!
-
Meg. She had the L4D Zoey outfit so it was a no brainer, now I'm trying to raise the reputation of people playing Megs. The keyword being "trying".
Started out as a Wraith main and loved it until I got into Iri ranks where he began to struggle quite a lot. Branched out until he got his buff, mained him again and had a wonderful time. Only play dailies since his nerf and the COH meta. I play pretty much all killers with the exception of Plague and Hag, I guess Bubba is as close as I get to a main these days.
-
Ghostface getting stunned is like the DBD killer experience distilled into one perfect moment.
The only reason I don't dodge Feng Min lobbies is that I get to hear the cutest sound in the entire game.
-
It's a little extra help for adepting. If you use a key and a hatch offering, you give yourself a tiny bit of advantage.
-
Hag: Flashlights and a constant harasser pretty much nullifies her. Sure, she can stomp randos super hard, but few killers struggle against those lobbies, I really don't think she is super crazy.
Freddy: His addons might be hot garbage, but his ability to instantly teleport to a generator is often not appreciated enough. Plus, as weak as it is, he does have some measure of antilooping that helps with the whole, "great, you've injured a survivor, now what?" type of scenarios.
-
That's literally the average DBD experience. If you get 2 games in a row without a Nurse or a Blight that is an extremely good day and worthy of celebration.
-
Great, can I not get that tiny portion of Blights and Nurses then every single goddamn match for the past half a year and play the actual game with these so called average killers? Cheers!
-
Apparently for some people it improved the quality of their games and rainbow lobbies can now just be dismissed by chanting gRaDeS dOnT mEaN aNyThINg. People also touted that it gave better matches for new players but that theory has been thoroughly busted since.
-
I'm currently at the stage where I just farm against good survivors after getting tilted with 3 gens popping during my first chase and then feel incredibly ######### afterwards when I 4k a match because it comes across as sealclubbing little baby survivors. Please send help.
-
Basement Camp
NOED
Instigate toxicity (I'll still return the favor with a vengeance, but if a killer played nice I'm not teabagging, clicking at him)
-
Corrupt Intervention - Pretty much required at high MMR unless you are playing one of the top killers and can down survivors every 10-20 seconds.
BBQ - Both for bloodpoints and information.
And then one of these combos depending on the mobility of my killer
Tinkerer&Pop (Good on Blight, Billy, Demo, Freddy etc)
Pain Resonance&DMS (For the rest)
-
It's not AFK-ing, it's strategically adjusting your MMR for more balanced matches.
-
This year? Absolutely no chance in hell. At best next year, but I don't expect any actual reducing in grind before 2024.
-
Nevermind, false alarm, it's the same ######### all over again. 8 out of 10 killers are Blight/Nurse running their busted addons with either mori, black ward or map offering every single goddamn trial, teammates are sub 100 hour (compared to their 6-8k hours). Every 2 months or so the SBMM gives me 1-3 good days and then back to this worthless garbage again for weeks on end. Was it really a skilled developing Patrick if your ~50% escape rate is actually 5%? To think that someone actually got paid for this system at the end of the month is infuriating to anyone who actually performs their job.
-
There is certainly something different about the algorithm. My SoloQ games are actually not just 4k at 3 gens 9 out of 10 matches now and the quality of the survivors I face has increased as well, I actually need to throw a few games to pip up which is very annoying.
-
As long as cheating remains such a huge issue, Killer DC should not result in a penalty.
First Survivor that DCs should eat the penalty, subsequent ones not.
-
You know what they say about polishing t*rd.
As long as they insist kill/escape=skill, it doesn't matter how much fine tuning they do, it's going to be the same utterly worthless garbage of a system as it always was.
-
Once a Nurse/Blight player reaches a certain skill level, the opponent's skill becomes completely irrelevant, since it's just an automatic 4k. If you can't win against a killer, yeah, I'd call that OP.
-
I don't know what exactly BHVR has done, but my matches have been categorically different since they supposedly finished the MMR tests, compared to before. The code isn't the same though, I'm certain of it.
-
@JamnJelly said:
Might be a noob question, but whats the point of having the ranks if they're not reflective of mmr?
It's more of a seasonal ranking than anything, the game wants to reward you for playing a lot so that you are more likely to play more.
-
12 hook the team without any exit gates opening using your three perks.
-
Have to pick the boring option and go with Demo. Not broken like Nurse/Blight, no busted addons like Spirit, a pretty good ability that still leaves room for counterplay and potential for fast map traverse.
-
Freddy of all things. You need to hit survivors twice since he is not an instadown killer so there's no emblem loss and with a nasty enough build, you can really delay generators from popping. It's not that super easy to snowball with him so you are less likely to screw yourself out of hooks too. Of course he suffers against really good survivors, but with those you basically need to master Blight and Nurse anyhow.
