Use it as a backup, not a primary source of healing if you ask me.
Might as well bring a medkit to make use of the efficiency bonus and use that first, but if you end up in that situation where you want to be healthy and can't get it from any other sources, you have self care available for that moment. Also lets you get away with medkit + charge combos that don't add up to a full 2, 3, 4 or whatever heals and can finish the last one off with self care.
It's not the perk that "frustrates" people, it's when people feel like they have to run away to self care every time they get injured no matter what.
Or when my teammate runs away from me (who has a medkit) to self care, only to be caught downed and last hooked because "he wanted to use his self care".
That's such a stupid reason to die.

I like that they added these tomes, but i have some points to criticise
- Way to little time for most people. If you are not playing this game a lot, there is 0% chance you will finish all of it.
- Some challanges are way to easy, some are way to hard. Compare the "Do 2 generators" and the "Finish 4 Gens in one trial". This point...
- ... leads me to the benefits. Harder challanges do not feel more rewarding then easy challanges.
Those are my main complains, i guess most people feel similar to me and i hope devs learn from that. Anyway, good job so far :)
That's outright false.
Tomes DO NOT GO AWAY. EVERYONE will be able to finish it.
Challenges are challenges. Something extra to do for a small bonus. Not something you HAVE to do ASAP or you miss out on XYZ reward.
Tying it to the RIFT is causing all this nonsense.
-
I wouldnt have just let her go. Maybe let her hop the pallet then chase again. But probably not. You gotta learn somehow, and ######### up is the best way.

If I play for “fun” I know I won’t win. Lol I played Wraith last night with Insidious and stood in front of my Ruin Totem. It was hilarious watching all 4 survivors come and try to touch it. Finally one flashed me then I went full killer mode (only killed 2, but still). 😂
Thata my favorite game lol. I wont hunt, but I will protect my totem. I even give them a whack and a chance to run. But if they try to troll or outplay for the totem, they die.
During the pustula event LAST year, it was hilarious. 3/4 working on a plant, ring the bell and watch them SCATTER.
But yeah I've been doing killer games as a "mini boss" character. Dont use out of game knowledge (perks, maps, cutting off routes unless it's a character specific map like pig/game meyers/haddonfield) and just mindlessly play whatever killer it is like the source material shows them. It's way more fun to do that and get 1/0k than to try for a 4k and get 3or less AND salty messages/teabagging.

I get a few replies with people saying as killers that they have 'instant' queues but typically there's no context so it's hard to take it seriously.
There may be a few things are happening here, but like I said, there's no context so it becomes this weird subjective opinion from some rando on the internets.
What I suspect is happening is that if your a long time player whose dropped money on the game and you usually play killer then you get preferential treatment. It also might be different across consoles compared to what I've seen on PC.
The external website I used to monitor would show that the metrics before going to dedicated servers demonstrate a consistent 2 survivors to every killer. You need 4 survivors for a game. Sometimes you see 3:1, but NEVER the inverse. Always, too many people want to play killer.
Also the ingame timer that was in briefly showed this consistency before it was removed because killers started complaining about their queue times.
Feel free to disagree but try and at least do better than 'cause I say so'.
That's outright false. I've spent more than I ever should have on this ######### game, and still have 20 minute queues. Killer seems faster, sure, but instant? Never.
It's like saying higher level GTA players that buy shark cards have better luck with the casino wheel. It's just placebo and rng.

Yeah, it’s unbelievable. I try to play the game “fair” from my perspective as a survivor and every time I try, I get douchebags that try way too damn hard. It’s slowly ruining my vibe about the game.
Cant play this game fair anymore. You have to play it either:
A: completely selfishly, ensuring YOUR survival/victory regardless of how "scummy" it is.
OR
B: 100% carefree/fair as if you're an npc in someone elses game.
Trying to play fair AND win/do well is only going to cause frustration.
Theres too many toxic kiddies who think sacrificing a teammate or teabagging a loser is the ultimate power trip.
-
Like I'll finally do some of it now that I dont feel obligated to pay out the rest of the rift that's for some ungodly reason tied to it.
Like I can enjoy it for what it is. Lore and extra objectives.
Not the only thing to focus on and only way to get past the paywall.
-
@EnderloganYT said:
to be fair, it wasn't exactly fair to just walk and find people. he's annoying to play against because he can always find you, and boring to play as because unlike other killers, there's no excitement from finding the survivors.
Coupled with madness you cant reduce past 2, which leaves clones he can use to find you if you manage to NOT get shock spammed, AND that he can grab from shock spam mode, makes it extremely easy to find people. Shock shock shock. Hit. Hook. Shock shock grab. Drop. Shock shock hook. Gg.
-
It's a challenge. Its not supposed to be EASY.
Dont focus on it. Play your game. If you're in a position to basement hook, do it.
But planning EVERY game you play around a single, NON TIME LIMITED challenge, is stupid and will only frustrate you, and everyone else complaining about the time challenges.
They are, and I repeat this, NOT TIME SENSETIVE, CHALLENGES.
Not time sensetive: they will never go away.
Challenge: something difficult or requiring skill to overcome a difficult task. Something to be EARNED through trial and error, luck, or obtained skill.

Tell me why a bunch of people with survivor pictures are seriously telling me people DCing before i kill them in the basement is part of the challenge lol.
They need to take away killer/survivor paths because really most of the toxicity in this community comes from that division. Which is dumb, like yall all playing the same game. Its mostly survivors, like 90% survivors but even worse are the 10% of edgelord killers who are "Punishing" survivors for just playing the game. Like they get looped at a pallet and have a fit because you didn't run straight.
Like come tf on yall youre all lookin hella silly lol
Because people will always be #########? That wont change. Same with trophies.
Difference is, you let it bother you, when there is NO TIME LIMIT.
Griefers move on to new things quickly. Just play the damned game, enjoy it, and get it when you can. Dont stess over a CHALLENGE that isnt going anywhere.
You don't have to be in the first wave of people completing it to obtain the reward.

If the system is banning innocent people and throwing false positives, then it isn't working as intended, is it?
This notion of "The game is perfect and no bugs exists" is frankly ridiculous.
So tell me what I and these two other people could have done to prevent the dedicated servers which are still in the testing phase by the way from kicking us out at the same time?
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/217/KR8X1SH7XGL4.png
Or, since you seem to be so confident it's the user's fault, care to explain what we can do to avoid this crash next time?
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/136/T3CXCYBPQFH4.png
Can you also tell us how to avoid infinite loading screens in the future so I don't have to deal with them anymore?
Can you tell us how to avoid this bug so a survivor and killer aren't trapped indefinitely inside a trial?
https://clips.twitch.tv/AntsyEphemeralPuddingPartyTime
https://clips.twitch.tv/ConfidentSuaveInternPRChase
https://clips.twitch.tv/TsundereManlyPorcupineSoonerLater
Can you also tell me what I can do to avoid getting the basement bug when killers hook multiple of us in the basement and decides to just leave us there in our bugged state and not kill us after 15 minutes?
Or. could you make the survivors leave when I get stuck inside a generator as a killer and refuse to leave the match after 15 minutes, too?
Oh, and while we're at it, can you also tell me how we can avoid the disconnect penalty when we got the "failed to update" rank error that would happen despite actually completing the match and not disconnecting? I'd like to know how to avoid that too, since it's apparently our fault it keeps happening.
Thank you kindly in advance.
Taking things a bit personally?
You said yourself, they're in THE TESTING PHASE.
You know this, yet continue to play, get kicked, then go "what the ######### behaviour, this isnt fair!".
Let them work the kinks out, or deal with what happens in the meantime. You cant have your ######### cake and eat it too.

You just admitted that SWFs have already that info, yet state that it's not 'levelling the field' if solos have it to.
No, I stated that a very minuscule part of the players can use the info in the way you're trying to make it sound like. Yes, everyone on a party HAS the ability to talk, but most of them dont use it in the way you say.
You're trying to paint a picture with broad strokes, when it's literally less that 4% of groups that are even like that.
My point stands, stop trying to exaggerate and incite this side vs side bs.
-
@[Deleted User] said:
I'd rather have to put up with DCs, than having innocent people getting put on very long cooldowns because the game crashes or some other BS happens.
"Innocent" "very long" "or some bs".
It's a 5 min ban. If something buggy happens or your net drops, solve the issue first. If the game CONTINUES to crash, you are knowingly playing it with said issue present. Risk it, or wait for them to fix it, but dont chastise a working system that prevents intentional dcs because of a few issues that may happen.
-
@Mc_Harty said:
'Kindred basekit provides way too much information'
Isn't that the ######### point? Most SWFs already have access to this information without needing to run the perk. The hypocrisy baffles me.
No. The point is to balance and level the playing field. Not give excess information because a small (1-4%) of the playerbase has and abuses (heavily overused word) extra info.
-
They dont go away. They're SUPPOSED to be a challenge.
If you want things handed to you, just ask.
-
....no. it's something in the game, and on top of that, intended to work as such.
That would be like asking if being hooked in the basement is toxic...
People really need to stop letting little things bother them and labeling everything toxic.
-
Didnt starbreeze have a hand in Payday 2 at one point?
Not a good sign...
-
Because GF can turn it off at will.
Once Meyers leaves T1, he can not adjust it.
Or simply: they're 2 completely different characters. Why isn't pig or wraith mentioned if stealth is your link?

(before anyone cries "muuh why so rude to the devs, why insulting" blabla... THE REASON is stupid, not the person behind it. This is not against a Dev, so calm down. I'm not trying to insult the devs, it's not my intention.)
So I watched the last stream and when I heard the part about kindred basekit I nearly felt from my chair. "it's to powerful to see a killer camping"
Like what??? That's one of the biggest issues solos have to encounter.
Swf: "Uhm, killer camps me. Don't waste time coming, keep pumping gens. One dull totem left btw, he most likely has noed"
Solo Q: "hmm, why is noone saving him? Uhhh, I really have to leave this gen and run all the way to the other side of the map and unhook him..." 30 Seconds later: "Oh, killer camps. Well, back to my gen" wasting another 30 seconds. "btw, how many dull totems are left???"
And this whole process done by every individual in the solo Q Team.
Sorry, I'm speechless at this point.
Because if its basekit, EVERYONE knows what the killer is doing AT ALL TIMES.
Without it, 3 teammates have to wonder who's saving you, will they get caught, etc.
If its basekit, literally everyone will know they have x time before they have to move and the killers exact placement.
Ita a perfectly reasonable explanation as to why it's not in game, you're just not thinking about every aspect.

Specifically talking about:
6 ft Under: sacrifice 4 survivors in the basement in a single trial
Hungry Jaws: 6 bear trap catches in a single trial
But also the non-lore:
Dark Senses: Finish 4 gens with Dark Sense in a single trial
Agitated Advantage: Hook 5 survivors in the basement using Agitation in a single trial
Every single other one is shockingly easy, but these... bruh.
Those...are not that hard. I got the 4 basement in my first week of playing..
Bear traps are surprisingly easy if you know how to place them.
5 hooks in basement again, is easy. Dont camp.
The only one I see being tough is 4 gens simply because without a party of 4 you cant account for all the gens.
Jesus everyone wants CHALLENGES to be handed to them these days...
-
Well, seeing as they said the first ban is 60 seconds, I get the feeling it wasnt the first dc.
The first is short SPECIFICALLY for these situations.
If it keeps happening, dont play. You're only knowingly setting yourself up for frustration if you KNOW you'll get booted and penalized.
It's also likely not working correctly considering it's a test.

I don't know when this happened, but her clothing is now much more bright than before... And this pretty much sums up how the dev's think about this game's future for me, i don't even need their comments on this - instead of giving more camo options for other characters to support the original hide and seek gameplay, they are making the only character that was good for stealth more visible than before. So now a really skilled players who refuse to use loops and instead trying to lose killer in chase have even less options to play with...
Once upon a time i already summed up all the facts that show how much this game deviated from it's original concept: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/106069/the-game-deviated-so-much-from-its-original-concept-and-became-something-else/p1
And this is just a final nail in the coffin of a stealthy play.
LOL. RIP stealth play? You mean rip sitting in a dark corner.
You can still play stealthy, you just have to actually use your brain now.

It's not about rank lol. It's about closing the gap between solo and swf for future balancing.
If it's not about rank/competitiveness you have no argument to defend the change.
Bridging the gap of solo and SWF only helps when talking about how a players skill, and playstyle come in. If you're saying "dont balance for rank", are you balancing for fun?
Closing the gap of SWF and solo is ENTIRELY about rank, even though it's not a true ranking system. Otherwise nobody would ask for it. Because it wouldnt matter.

Theyd rather people DC mid match when the super low survivor isnt pulling his weight or helping.

Believe me, I've been playing wraith all week and when this patch came out I instantly noticed something was wrong. I think I missed 5 post-uncloak hits in my first game as wraith yesterday.
Not to sound rude, but all week compared to people who have been playing wraith for months, if not years, doesnt away much opinion. It may just be good vs bad games or a placebo effect.

Fixing the balance issues will only solve the problem for one of the above groups.

They didnt fix any issues. They took numbers and made them lower. That doesnt change the difficulty, only makes it less tedious. Theres no challenge, and theres even less reason to do the tome.
40 pallets was "too hard" but 25 is better? It's like 2 games difference.
The only one I could see needing changed was the endgame sacrifice. Which was still fine as is, as it was, a CHALLENGE.
All of this wouldnt even bother people if it wasnt directly tied into the battlepass they conned everyone into buying. Now we cant even enjoy the free challenge part without it having to be "changed and balanced" for the BP crybabies who HAVE to be able to earn those rewards without doing exactly what a BP is for: spending cash and playing way more than you normally would. They want their cake and to eat it too. They want to earn all the stuff, while it also not requiring any extra effort.

Oni (鬼) are a kind of yōkai, ogre, or troll in Japanese folklore. They are typically portrayed as hulking figures with one or more horns growing out of their heads. Stereotypically, they are conceived of as red, blue or green-colored, wearing loincloths of tiger pelt, and carrying iron kanabō clubs.
I guess he got powers from the entity to actually transform into some kind of a real Oni, and that's why when he's not enraged he stays as a samurai with a katana, but when he gets the power he enters Oni mode with the Kanabo club
So you can use Google. But not all of it. It also said ogres are brutes that feast on flesh, where obi are demons or spirits.
They mixed a bunch of ######### together just like you did, with google as a source.
Ogres are different than Oni. Does the oni lurch? Does he weigh 200lb and eat flesh? Would you classify him as, large, or giant? No. Hes humanoid, a foot or two taller, and a demon. Not an ogre.

And about the name... Damn, to have the killer name you hated...? That's harsh...
My problem is they go from calling him oni, to ogre, which are to completely different things. Then he uses a katana, but changes to kanabo midway through for....reasons?
They had a decent idea and kinda threw lore at the wall until they thought it looked good.
