You already have a third health state, it's called Dead Hard.
-
DH should be disabled during endgame just like Off The Record and DS. If you can't make it to the exit gate within 10 seconds while having basekit BT and bodyblocking teammates then you deserve to lose.

Seriously, this is like when they teased basekit Unbreakable, a completely broken mechanic, and all the survivor mains had a meltdown when they realised their new OP toy wasn't actually coming out on live servers.
Just because you were teased with a lottery win, doesn't mean the raise in your wages isn't still a net positive.
Btw, weren't notorious killer mains complaining that the healing changes were a bad thing because it would just cause more genrushing?
This patch will 100% enable genrushing due to the nerfs to gen regression remaining pretty much unchanged. It's beyond me why BNP/toolkits or perks like Prove Thyself aren't seeing ANY nerfs while gens are literally flying nowadays. The devs are without a doubt siding with the survivors when it comes to gen progression in this game.
-
Dead Hard shouldn't exist to begin with, no perk should ever grant survivors a third health state like that. The only exception to this was Mettle of Man and it got nerfed rightfully. What they did with DH is akin to a wrist slap, it's not even remotely enough.

Tunneling ez win no skill
Playing survivor requires very little skill as well as long as a single survivor has access to around 30 pallets and questionable map design, even if they're already injured from being recently unhooked. They have enough tools at their disposal to loop the killer for 5 gens.

Just a question. Not trying to downplay your experience but how come the Nancy "had the audacity to ask you if you felt ashamed for losing to Survivors" but did not put any physical image to prove it. With the first team, you put their end-game chat messages, but you never did it with the Nancy?
Also that final team I would not even count as a "bully squad", not every team you lose to is a bully squad. There was an Adept Jane, and nothing to really indicate if they even played together (I know some people will say "they are the same platform" but that literally indicates nothing most of the time). Im really tired of people using the term loosely, when like 95% of the teams they faced are people just playing the game and trying to have fun, I cant tell you how many times Ive been labeled a "bully squad" despite being SoloQ all because I got a few flashlight saves or played extremely well. But I digress.
The only time I actually care about losing a match and/or people harassing post-game is if people DDOS me, which has happened, but 95% of the time I just say "ggwp" and go next. If people are actually playing with the intent to "bully" you or make you upset, it is better to not give them the attention they want. It can definitely be hard to get into this mindset, but it is definitely worth doing, the DBD community can be vicious sometimes, you really have to grow thick skin (I do not mean this in a mean or malicious way, I am just trying to offer advice). Realistically, you cannot change the people around you, they can only change themselves, but you can change yourself and your mindset; it is a bit sad that this is the only thing that can be done, but it is just how things are.
I did not provide a screencap of that conversation because I didn't capture the relevant part. Chronologically speaking that match was the first one of the day, it was the encounter with the 2nd survivor group which completely made me lose my patience with these godforsaken creatures which prompted me to gather whatever material I had. The fact remains however that Nancy tried to seriously shame me for losing a game as a killer. I'm sick and tired of toxic filth.

No, that's not what I'm saying at all. I'm questioning what you actually want out of a survivor?
I expect them to stay humble if they're going to abuse (yet to be nerfed) stuff like Circle of Healing and questionable map design (RPD is a great offender in that regard). Insulting and mocking me for falling short against these type of odds is simply pathetic and uncalled for, that's what I hate the most.

I'm not talking about NOED.
"so Jane played extremely questionable, she could have abused CoH like the rest of her mates on the RPD map but instead she stayed on the half of the map without that godforsaken boon totem."
You complain about survivors playing too sweaty but also seem to criticize the Jane for not playing this way.
And you're telling me I shouldn't have taken the opportunity to secure my only kill by taking down the weakest link in their team?

I'd have to pick you up on that. You complain about survivors playing "sweat-hitsquad" yet the one person that apparently didn't you criticize them for not playing this way.
Are you serious? NOED is the only thing giving me a shot at dealing with this busted matchmaking. Without it I'd probably get no kills at all. Also how is it sweaty to want to get ONE kill at least? I'm not asking for a complete wipeout here. I'd be happy if I could even get a 2K but that's simply not happening.
-
@Cassiopeiae said:
So... are we not going to talk about the NOED?
Also looking at perks alone I don't think that was a SWF at all to begin with.
Also poor Jane, you literally tunneled her out of the match.
NOED is a mandatory pick because I keep getting games like this, what else am I supposed to do? The survivors usually bring Adrenaline anyway to undo any damage I dish out. Also Jane played extremely questionable, she could have abused CoH like the rest of her mates on the RPD map but instead she stayed on the half of the map without that godforsaken boon totem. Without her this would have been a blatant 0K.

I understand that it can be annoying, especially when people are being rude in EGC. But honestly, it's not like they had a gen-rush build, or were sabo-squads that sent you to a certain map to abuse boil-over etcetera.
Turning end-game-chat off might help a lot. Also, everyone has bad/horrible games sometimes, maybe take a break or play during different times/days? Or pair up with your friends and play a couple of customs. Do something that is fun to you and makes you happy.
I already took a considerable break when the RE4 remake came out, it didn't really make a difference. The game's equally miserable no matter how many breaks I take, it's just nonstop frustration from being mocked by the survivors while underperforming 90% of the time with no relief in sight. If only matchmaking would actually work.
-
You're right about one thing, healing times are far too short. Even if the intended nerf goes live it still wouldn't suffice, healing should take TWICE AS LONG. Raise it to half a minute, only then can we actually address the healing meta in an appropriate manner.
-
@Volcz said:
Not going to say get good, but I've seen actual good players on killer who regardless of SWF or not, stomp. Go watch Hexy (if you care to, just for a lil bit) and he'll give you perspective on how bad or good of a killer you are in relation.
Too many people playing killer nowadays who think they're good, and when they lose, its just excuse city out of them. And these people are often times the loud ones who preach about how underpowered killers are and how OP survivors are.
Anyways sorry that happened to ya in end-game chat. Hopefully you have a better experience going forward.
I implore you to look up my previous thread history, this is an ongoing issue which clearly proves that the game is unable of matching me with survivors of appropriate skill level. The MMR system is extremely flawed, period.

Looks like the Jane got tunneled out immediately too, this why you can’t bring fun perks on either side as the other side will quickly abuse it
Jane was the weakest link, she didn't bother healing and kept touching gens while the rest of the team abused CoH on RPD. It's an absolutely disgusting map to play on, it's akin to a herculean task to score a single kill on there.
-
Some of you still are wondering about the definition of a bully squad. I'm literally talking about bullies harassing me in the aftergame-chat, relentlessly taunting and harassing me for the outcome of the match. Also the fact that I consistently get games like this on various m1 killers only proves two things:
1) Matchmaking literally doesn't work, it doesn't adapt to my skill level.
2) Map design is so blatantly broken that it doesn't matter what items or perks the survivors bring, they can win easily.
-
The changes didn't do anything to raise her viability, she's still extremely weak and in dire need of further buffs.
Her power is too weak, the least BHVR should do is raise the haste bonus from the first claw trapped survivor to 5% to enable her to catch up. Beyond that survivors don't care about being exposed if they're either injured or simply rushing a gen since the drone(s) will do nothing to actively hinder survivors.
Drones should be reworked to actually shoot at survivors if they accumulated exposure, that at least would deter them from disrespecting these pathetic toys. Seriously, who in their right mind would weaponize drones that can't explode or shoot at stuff? Completely missed the theme there. The Skull Merchant is a joke.
-
I only care about new killer releases and the last two (Skull Merchant & Knight) were downright failures in terms of gameplay so there's very little to keep me playing. I haven't touched this game since more than a week now, been playing RE4 remake instead.
-
Boon totems were a mistake. I still hate Mikaela for introducing this nonsense to the game.

Currently playing through RE4 remake, it's simply amazing.
Definitely not going to touch DbD until I'm done with that masterpiece.
-
I still don't understand why her changes weren't pushed to live servers yet. Yesterday was patch day and they didn't do a thing. Are we supposed to wait one more week?
-
She absolutely needs this QoL change otherwise there's no point in committing to puking instead of smacking them with a quick M1 before a survivor gets to one of 40 pallets on the map.
She's also still lacking a chase theme despite being in the game since four years now.
-
They need to increase the first movespeed bonus to 5%, I see no other way for her to score hits as a m1 killer otherwise. Anything below 120% is still the same hold W to win gameplay from survivors with the occasional pallet drop and vault in between.
Even if she gets her brown addon as basekit she'll never see any use for it since survivors generally leave loops against her due to her setting up drones at the loop itself. 45 seconds of battery life will not suffice and before she even realizes what's going on that haste bonus will be gone and she's back to being a miserable 115% m1 killer with no gapcloser.
With the planned removal of her gen defense potential this'll cement her status as a D tier killer fo sure.
-
I have considerable doubts regarding the efficency of these changes. She'll only get her haste bonus when a battery is active, that's merely 45 seconds. And these things will destroy themselves right afterwards thus removing her haste effect. She'll be back to being an unviable 115% m1 killer. You will NEVER be able to have all 4 buffs from your traps stay active for long enough at the same time.
Consider how long it takes for her to get to a survivor who wears a claw trap, then consider the absurd map design which gives survivors several loops and pallets to abuse just to waste your time even harder. All they need to do is leave the loop after using up their pallet (which they'd do anyway if you attempted to place a drone at the loop itself) which would change NOTHING about her chase gameplay.
Meanwhile her only strength (gen defense) will be stripped from her thus leaving behind a low C tier killer at best. These changes are missing the mark. Drones should expose survivors twice as fast, also double that effect if they're already wearing a claw trap. Her base exposure time would be at 5 seconds then (down from 10) and 2.5 seconds if the target wears a claw trap.
-
If I see one or two survivors with a high prestige level I simply dodge the lobby. If even one of them brings a toolbox or flashlight I dodge immediately.

I hate to be that guy, but being able to win without even trying is the very definition of a matchmaking system not working. You're not being punished by having to try, you're being matched against people of your skill level. And if you really do want to relax and not take it too seriously, you can do that and your rating will adjust to where you can relax and still do reasonably well after some losses.
And as others have pointed out, a better matchmaking system was a very common request. The old rank system was not as unanimously loved as you might remember.
I strongly disagree with that assessment, otherwise I'd finally be able to get more than a single kill on Skull Merchant. I've been having a terrible time on her since she came out and the MMR doesn't seem to adapt no matter how many losses I score.

DbD has the most unforgiving new player experience of any game I've played, it's extremely toxic and unfun. Matchmaking is pretty much nonexistent since you will keep getting sweatlords who will fully exploit their busted role to its full extent. In general it seems like there are far less beginner survivors than there are beginner killers despite the fact that 4 times as many people play survivor.
The experience won't change no matter how many hours you have, may it be 40 or 2000. With every new killer release you'll be back to learning something new while the survivor gameplay remains unchanged since every single survivor character is basically just a reskin. While the killer might be struggling with learning a new power or interaction the survivors still can make use of skills which they've honed over thousands of hours.
The veteran experience boils down to two things: you either play a high tier killer or you get genrushed and looped to hell. Survivors are far stronger than the killer if everyone's on an equal footing since you have to rely on survivor mistakes to get hits and downs. If everyone's equally efficient you'll have a very hard time managing your time as a killer.

It is ridiculous. Way too large, too many pallets and most of the loops are extremely safe and forced pallet breaks. Also very few LoS blockers incentivizing everyone’s least favorite game play of hold w since you can see the killer coming a mile away. It’s the epitome of everything in bad design. Since this is the newest map released it makes me think after all these years we haven’t learned anything from past mistakes. How are we supposed to fix all the badly designed old maps if we’re still releasing new ones even more messed up?
When I queue into this map as survivor unless it’s one of the more top tier killers I fully expect them to be tunneling the first person they down asap as that’s their only chance of winning unless me or my team is playing really, really badly. I can’t really blame them.
As killer this map makes me want to dc on load in since I don’t like having to tunnel someone out.
Not nearly as important as the other things but in general I think most people find the map aesthetically unappealing as well.
You pretty much hit the nail on its head. It's unfathomable how they haven't learned a thing about map design after all this time, every single rework seems to make things worse while the new releases still carry over the same twisted map design philosophy. Even the smaller maps are compensated with abnormal amounts of pallets to make life as miserable as possible for the killer.
It's literally possible to loop a killer for 5 gens by simply predropping every single pallet on the map, that's how busted this game is.
-
Survivors have been either disconnecting or flatout ragequitting my past few games, apparently they heavily dislike playing against a killer who only can defend a 3gen. If only she had any useful abilities to help her during a chase, maybe then she wouldn't be forced to do this insanely boring strategy.

You are NOT using the comp argument.... Competitive DBD is a bad joke and suckers like you who look to it are the punchline.
Isn't competitive/tournament DbD filled with extra-rules anyway? I remember them having handicaps for survivors like limiting perks to one copy for the entire team to prevent stuff like 4 DHs. It's a whole different meta really.

"You can loop her for ages" - and that's exactly why Skull Merchant has to rely on a 3gen to even stand a chance. Anythinge else is a guaranteed loss for her so all she can do is try to make you feel as miserable as her. She's without a doubt the greatest failure of a killer BHVR has created so far.

Lmao you're joking right? I think this just reflects your own skill bro
I don't find it difficult at all to do 3 gen, in fact I'm still waiting for an experienced survivor team that can break the 3 gen, but it seems it is not possible no matter what they do
Your issue is probably that you're taking the time to hook when u could just leave them on the ground, you don't have hard regression perks, or simply aren't placing the drones right
They disabled the drone? Cool now you can walk to that gen and put one right back up, it's practically basekit surveillance for the killer
I suppose though I have to keep doing 3 gen SM before people finally get that she needs a nerf
Do these match results look like a joke to you? If anything they prove two important things:
1) The Skull Merchant is downright unplayable.
2) Matchmaking is nonexistent and never adapts despite losing nonstop.

So buff her 3 gen?
You can't possibly be serious, right?
She needs drastic buffs all across the board, she's literally at the very bottom of the tierlist. Since BHVR never ever reworks killers within the first 3 years of their release they'll do the only thing that can raise her killrate somehow and that is to buff her power. If her power happens to enable 3genning survivors then so be it. She NEEDS help, and FAST.
-
Every single map rework so far was absolutely survivor sided, the same goes for all of the newer map releases. The devs promised years ago to do better and they've yet to keep their word. It's just one disappointment after another.
-
I just had a 45 minute game which was anything but fun. It took me three gens to finally secure my first hook and despite my best efforts they still finished all gens, her drones were of no help at all.
Literally the only way to get kills on this killer is to camp with NOED during endgame. This whole Walmart tier Knight gameplay of trying to stall long enough until the Entity flat out kills everyone is awful and doesn't even work on her. Knight at least can injure survivors (just for them to immediately heal up anyway), Skull Merchant meanwhile can't do a single thing.
Getting more than a single kill on this killer is a herculean task. The Skull Merchant is rightfully at the very bottom of the tierlist.

Being fully serious here why would the devs only play 1 role? They literally need both to sustain the game
All of their decision making has been focused solely on the survivor experience since 80% of the playerbase consists of survivor players (4v1 format). Which means that if they want to sell more survivor characters and skins they need to pander to the majority. Being a killer is akin to being bullied while the teacher (BHVR) only closes their eyes and pretends everything's fine because the majority seems to be happy with the current state of things. BHVR are enabling this sort of toxicity by being so damn passive.
-
Here's a list of possible buffs/changes which should raise her status from E to C tier at least:
1) Drones should expose survivors twice as fast.
2) Remove the 10 second delay/cooldown for setting up/recalling drones.
3) Lower the base delay for booting up your drones. They should be active almost right away.
4) Drones should have their radius buffed by 25%. Alternatively give her one more drone (4->5).
5) Remove any slowdowns from using her radar or deploying drones. Keep her at 115% ms at all times.
6) Make her purple aura reading addon basekit. Killer instinct alone isn't good enough for a supposed surveillance maniac.
7) Change the color of her active drones into blue or something else. The current red lighting from the drones makes it harder to keep track of survivors, too many indicators in this game share the same colortone. It makes no sense for the Skull Merchant to be negatively affected by her own tech.
8) Turn her movespeed addon into basekit. Being a 115% movespeed killer with no gapcloser or interruption is unacceptable.
9) Lower the repairspeed of any survivor who is carrying a Claw Trap. Her tech should be able to do that.
10) Give the Skull Merchant a notification if a survivor starts hacking a drone.
11) Any survivor who's wearing a Claw Trap should gather exposure twice as fast. Make it stack with the buff from #1.

We literally had a series of killer buffs last summer that brought killer into a better state than it had ever been, and solo was a complete nightmare for a while as a result.
From where I'm standing, things are looking pretty good now. Solo's still weaker than SWF, and you can't fix potatoes, but knowing what your teammates are doing improves coordination and leads to less obnoxious frustration like everyone independently assuming someone else will go for the save or the box - or a teammate deciding to pick a vendetta against you because they haven't seen you all match and erroneously believe you haven't been doing anything.
I think seeing the percentages on the gens might be overkill, but the icons themselves are a fantastic addition for game health.
Survivors immediately received compensation buffs in ther form of basekit BT and the completely broken hud rework which gives them the same level of information as a fullblown SWF squad. Killers are struggling to even get kills now since everyone is bringing Dead Hard and Adrenaline on top of that. It's absolutely revolting.
-
I'm sick and tired of people who keep exploiting Dead Hard close to pallets, it makes them completely untouchable. The perk needs to be put six feet under, it's simply unhealthy. Survivors should never have access to a third health state.
-
The new map actually has an infinite loop, it's on the bottom level of the killer's camp. There's a window connected to a very long L structure which is extremely safe for survivors to abuse. It's absolutely disgusting. No0b3 has actually shown it off in his Skull Merchant video.

I've played several matches against Skull Merchant, and I'm finding her very annoying. Like Hag levels of annoying. She defends gens with her drones. You can hack drones, but you get insta-exposed if you mess it up. Even if you successfully hack it, she can easily redeploy it in the same spot.
So yeah, to me, the Skull Merchant is like another Hag, with more effects to her power.
I haven't seen any survivors who screw up skillchecks yet, only absolute beginners do that. Also walking up just to redeploy your drone is the same as if you're playing Trapper just to re-set a trap which will get immediately disarmed again. It's a lose-lose situation while possibly up to 3 more people are doing the same thing, you can't keep up.

1) How exactly can you tell if a drone is being hacked? Which icon would that be? If I try to select any of my drones all it does is recall them.
2) So you want me to set up a 3-4 gen from the very start? Her drones don't even hinder survivors, they get defused far too quickly. Knight is definitely better at defending generators.

If I took screenshots, I could simply post the several games I got a 4K as Skull Merchant.
I don't find her to be nearly as bad as people are saying. You can improve her chase with spirit fury + enduring and she has an exhaustion addon that is easy to apply to stop dead hard. She also has an addon to increase her pallet break speed for spirit fury + enduring combo.
Her drones are effective for watching an area. You can even use her drones to scout for survivors going for a pallet/flashlight save after downing a survivor.
Three gens will be done by the moment she finally hooks someone. Her early game is absolutely atrocious, even gathering stacks for Spirit Fury will still require some of your precious time. Also she doesn't get the bonus until the drone is fully deployed which makes her purple addon kind of lackluster. I usually end up kicking a gen or pallet before the drone has even has fully set up the radius. I do see the value of her green screw addon but it's quite the hassle to constantly recall drones to have a spare one ready for this type of thing.

If that happens, what's your plan to prevent the already heavily killer-sided solo queue from becoming a wasteland?
And "voice comms" are not the answer. If you ever played an online game with voice comms, you know exactly why.
Solo queue is actually a lot closer to swf now in terms of power due to the overabundance of information survivors are getting now, it's time for killers to finally catch up.

I'm not trying to pick on you or be mean, because it's not just you who does it, but I feel like every post you make trying to prove something by constantly posting your end game screens. I get that you don't have a PC that can handle screen recording well, but end game screens show very little of the story and how you are actually playing the match and they really don't prove anything at all without actually being able to see the whole match itself.
I'm not saying she doesn't have issues, or she doesn't need QOL adjustments or buffs. But what I'd really like to see is the content of the match and how your actually playing because the constant factor in all of these games is yourself.
There's plenty of gameplay out there from others, though, who struggle as much as I do. The killer is simply not fun to play as.
Her power feels buggy as hell at times considering how you can't deploy her drones in certain areas despite having no hooked survivor around. It feels completely arbitrary and there are no actual rules to look up on how her power really functions. They expect players to simply put up with this nonsense.
I'd also like to raise awareness about the godawful infinite loop on the Skull Merchant map, there's some footage of it from no0b3's latest video. Take a good look at the 8 minute mark.
