My survivor queues are near instant all day up until night time and then the times even out, they're about 20 - 30 seconds at that time.
If you play at a set specific time most days then you're always going to see the same "type of lobbies", if i played early morning where I am, my killer lobbies are always 4+ minutes and my survivor lobbies instant, if I play mid afternoon, both my survivor and killer lobbies can be either fast or slow, at night time, around 7+PM my killer lobbies are faster than my survivor ones but my survivor ones are by no means long.
In the EU it's like that. I think users on this forum use their experience with queues in a specific region make too many generalizations to other areas.

Killer queue times used to be about 2-4 minutes in the day time (around 6 A.M. - 10 A.M. PST) then they would be instant from anytime between that.
Now, killer queue times are instant around the clock, I can’t say the same for survivor queues.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Behaviour needs to sell this game to a bigger company before they sink it themselves.
It must be a regional thing. In EU survivor queues are almost instant in the morning and still very good in the afternoon.
Killer queue times are the reverse and in the mornings waiting up to 5 min is not uncommon.

The solution is simple. Before the trial, provide the survivors with a copy of your rulebook.
Don't worry, it's a given they'll gift one of theirs to you as well.
-
I like your first and third suggestion.
The middle one wouldn't probably be implemented because bhvr doesn't do specific buffs/debuffs for solo/swf.
Good ideas overall.
-
Maybe they realized it would be a massive effort to balance.
You either make it too weak to the point it does nothing (cough hit validation cough cough), or you do make it impactful, but then you need to overhaul all the gen defence items.
-
If it's an emotional attachment, there's not much anyone can offer in the way of rational arguments. You will stop caring eventually once you have that epiphany that rank really means nothing for your game experience
-
Yes... if you want to get chased first.
-
Huntress, until I got too good at understanding hitboxes.
Myers as well, but because I played too much of him.

Due to the lag compensation DbD uses, if the hit happened on the killer's side, the server accepts it even if it didn't actually happen. This system was taken from multiplayer shooters. Killer always sees survivors with a certain latency, so he sees them at positions they were some time ago, not where they are now actually. The higher the killer's ping, the larger the latency, the more the distance between the actual positions of survivors and the positions the killer sees. So a high ping allows killers do things like this. The same applies to the infamous vault hits, hits through pallets and simple 3-meter hits in general. HEX: WiFi + HEX: VPN is a pretty tough meta perk combo among many killers nowadays.
Pretty much accurate. I've only played shooters beside DbD. So, I might add that DbD and shooters are intrinsically different. That's why that system simply can't be transposed via brute force without running into the issues that we have right now. Shooters are SYMMETRICAL. Both players have peeker's advantage. So, even in the worst-case scenario without any compensation mechanisms whatsoever, both players have still ways to affect the outcome by going first even if the hits may still appear visually inconsistent.
However, in DbD, survivors can't 'shoot back' or 'shoot first'. Survivors are mostly reaction based and those reactions need to be quicker the more unsafe is the loop. Latency decreases that reactionable window of opportunity even further. That's why naked client hit registration has always been, since the time of P2P lagswitchers, easily exploitable by simply increasing latency. Ironically, there's no advantage to having low ping as killer, because survivors have a more accurate representation of the players' positions, more time to react and interactions are more consistent.
As for hit validation, I know what it's supposed to do in the devs minds, but as far as I'm concerned, it doesn't do anything at all for a low ping player like myself. It might as well be a fairy tale that we've been told. I might add, that if you try to VPN and get uber ping, you probably still be able to play killer and not have a single hit invalidated. I'm totally not saying that I could know someone who might've tested that to see if hit validation existed at all and that's how I'd know...

Yeah, this "I had 32 ping" is the real BS happening. You can only see your Ping and if it is good, it does mean nothing if the Killer has a bad Ping. But for some reason, the Survivors cannot see the Killers Ping, but the Killer can see the Ping of the Survivors. Dedicated Servers simply made it worse, before you could see that you had a Killer with high Ping (aka you got connected to a Player who probably lives far away from you or if the ping was spyking, has quite poor internet), but with Dedicated Servers, I never have a Ping higher than 60, mostly it is 35-50.
But now, you only see your Ping, but not the Killers, which makes stuff like this happen.
And personally, I dont see anything wrong with saying that those are Russian Players, because you can be sure that those Players most likely dont do it intentionally, they just have no other choice, because there are no Servers in Russia. So it is not naming&shaming or anything, it is just what it is - players who get connected to a Server far away because there is no other option. You have to name the problem and the problem is that BHVR has Dedicated Servers without being able to open Servers in some regions of the world.
I am at the point where I just want to go back to P2P so badly, I would give everything from Dedicated Servers up for that. I am just tired for getting questionable Hits or Grabs, just because a player from Russia is the Killer. And meanwhile, I have great Ping, but this only means that players who go against me as Killer will most likely have an awesome experience. Which is nice, but eh.
At the very least, the Killers Ping should be visible.
While I do agree that's not naming&shaming because those players don't have any fault whatsoever for that sad state of affair, you never know with these forums and their rules.
For the rest, I kinda said this many times, but for the sake of it, DbD dedicated servers are a publicity stunt to appease the community back then when introduced. With client hit registration, they're simply a relay slapped onto a P2P architecture. The devs even so much told us that the coding is still based on P2P when explaining why DH doesn't work, for example.
The servers might work for matchmaking, tracking inventories to detect hacking, DC penalties, maybe stats and stuff like that. But for gameplay purposes, they do nothing. If anything, it's very possible that average latency might have increased if the connection path between the players is longer due to relaying through some obligated locations.
Hit validation could have done something about that. Except, it doesn't do anything at all, currently.
As a matter of fact, as survivors I don't think we'll ever see the killer's ping, just like as killers we'll never see who's in a SWF. I mean, with MMR we won't even see our own rating and they even said that they want to hide one's ranks to other players, eventually. The reasons for those are quite obvious.
-
Sexiness intensifies.
-
It's not unusual now. Hit (fake)validation seems to have actually made those kind of grabs possible if the killer lags severely.
The first clip below shows another example with slow mo. I'm the survivor and my ping was 32 in all the footage btw. The killer was a streamer from ***** (ok, I'll censor their location. If you play on EU servers you know what place I'm talking about, because those players all lag like crazy and hit you from miles away.)
https://youtu.be/WG8rPNAxxr4 -
Exiting through a gate with an active pig trap is meant to kill the survivors. So, if they were able to that, there was either a bug or a cheat. DbD is so good that it's often impossible to tell those two apart.
-
It looks like a fun build. I'd personally use Déjà Vu over Visionary, though.
-
Escape in solo? In swf? Through the gates? When matchmaking works?
It's the same issue as with killers. Lots of variables that must be contextualized.
-
The hatch spawns at the beginning of the trial, but it becomes visible when the usual conditions are met (gens repaired, remaining survivors, etc.)
The hatch will be added to the map when you get in range, but its aura will be revealed only once the hatch is visible.
-
I'm fine with the variety. However, strength should correlate to the skill-cap.

It would be useless on the twins anyway because no perk applies to victor once you use him
It's not so straightforward. He doesn't have perks because he's a special ability, but perks that work in the background would still proc. If you have ruin and push someone off a gen, ruin applies. If you injure someone with Victor, Thana applies. And so forth. If KO still applied to special attacks, it would work.
-
That is indeed a genrush squad, contrary to what is usually complained about in these forums. This one is a legit example. In 2k hours, I've never run into one quite as extreme though. The chances of facing one like this are still probably next to nil.
No need to have a knee-jerk reaction. The problem and the fix are quite straightforward. The elephant in the room is the commodius+bnp. It probably wouldn't have been possible to do something like this, even with built to last and streetwise.
They should make BNP consume the toolbox again and the commodius needs a nerf on the speed buff, considering its distinguishing feature is that it has most charges than any other toolbox.

Why not make it the Ruin of healing?
Good skill checks regress healing by 5-10%, while great skill checks grant no bonus progression.
:P
This would be an interesting solution, but it would probably need an increased chance of triggering a skill check as well.
-
As long as it's a res with an aspect ratio found in commercial monitors, then I don't have an issue with it. A) having a monitor with a certain aspect ratio can't be cheating and using a res with that aspect ratio can't either (you could just buy a monitor like that), B) most of those resolutions don't give an unfair advantage for either killers of survivors.
I still like my 16:9 because it makes my recordings sharper. But everything I described above doesn't bother me. It's up to the devs to fix it if they don't want it in the game.
-
Boring is subjective. I find it extremely boring when playing killer, that's why I don't use it anymore.
As survivor, I don't care too much, except for the aura reading. That has to go.
-
It's a nice idea in theory, but it would be unbalanced without self-care basekit or some sort of aura reading ability to find your allies to get heals.
Survivors can at base counter ruin by either staying on gens or cleansing totems. But they can't counter this at base unless in a SWF. Your suggestion would mostly penalize soloq, which we don't need as of right now.
I agree that hemorrhage needs to do something more. Maybe let pools of blood last longer beside being more frequent.
-
The main building is indeed still broken. Depending on the direction from where the chase starts, the main window is still godly even when the wall is broken and it connects with another very strong window in the back. I think they should make it so that only one of the windows is open and add a doorway alongside the main window wall, beside the breakable wall. It doesn't have to be close to the window, but it should provide another access to allow for some plays.
Then, to balance it out, they could add a pallet inside.
-
Too much potential for hostage builds. Many killers could just select a cluster of 3 gens and set the tent there from the beginning and drag out the game.
Gens are the killer's secondary objective to attain their primary objective. The primary objective is to kill survivors. It's not the other way around. That order should never be reversed and there should not be basekit abilities to stall the games like that. To slow down is ok, but not to stall. Base regression and generator damaging are fine like that for a reason.
I don't understand what is that irks people so much about tapping gens. Or, maybe I do. It's they're taking issue with the fact that what they did can be undone faster. But that sentiment is misguided. In reality, one shouldn't kick a generator unless they have a very good reason to. If the gen gets tapped immediately, it was a bad time investment not because regression got stopped, but because you should have chased immediately, not wasted time kicking. It's not the fact that gEn tApPiNg iS oP that dooms you in that case. It's the bad decision making. The tapping, if anything, gives you a chance because the survivors lingers around instead of making more distance. That's also one of the reasons why I don't even use pop anymore. The pressure I get from chasing and downing is far greater than wasting time kicking with pop in many instances.

Oh hell those huntresses are the worst.
I've been hit by hatches at the shack where I was allready outside and even around the corner going to the window side.
She threw a hatched from the other doorway and still hits me all the way over there.
They had problems with huntress in the beta test where it didn't hit them apparently, and now they've overdone it and make them always hit you.

Thought maybe you played in the US or something and thinking you played on the same server with people from the EU.
That's what I meant.
But yeah like others say, people from Russia, Arabia, etc all have terrible pings with or without having control over it.
Kinda forgot about that tbh.
Those people imo are also the most toxic in my experience but that is another subject and not on topic
OK gotcha. My bad I wasn't too clear about my location. But I'm pretty paranoid about checking my ping in the lobby. Especially since about a year ago there was a bug for some time that would connect players to the wrong servers.

I don't know what region you are from, but you do know there are multiple servers right?
US East (Ohio), US West (N. California), South America (São Paulo), EU (London), EU (Frankfurt), Asia Pacific (Singapore), Asia Pacific (Seoul), and Asia Pacific (Tokyo).
I know. I play on EU Frankfurt. What did you mean exactly?
-
It doesn't work. If you have good stable ping (mine is 32) and you're on a server full of laggers (cough EU cough cough) you can get dedicated hit just like before validation. VPN and lag switching hits still work the same.
-
Unless the survivors were trolling, 3 dead at 5 gens means a total matchmaking fail. That's the real issue. Take your win and move on. You already got an easy game as is. No need to drag it out into a meaningless hide and seek as it used to before they changed the hatch spawn condition.
Not to mention that the survivors aren't a team, but 4 individuals who can decide to coop or not. No need to punish the last one alive.

You earn NOED's effect by playing with three perks during the beginning and middle of the match.
If the Survivors do gens too fast for you and you get them, it's their fault; they had time to do totems.
If you keep so much pressure on that they don't have time to do totems, you're still earning it.
If the Survivors try to unhook someone while exposed by NOED, that is also their fault.
Ordinarily, a Killer shouldn't get more than one kill from NOED.
You described exactly the opposite of earning.
Edit: just to elaborate. You're describing an insurance. If everything goes well, it won't hurt you. But if things goes to **** because you messed up, it will save your derriere. But by definition, one doesn't 'earn' compensation from their insurance. They receive it because **** happened.
-
It's a normal game mechanic. It doesn't mean it's not annoying, but nothing wrong with it.
-
Midwich is bad but not for all killers.
Haddonfield is terribad for any killer.
-
It's active for killers with good ping. Laggers and vpn'ers can get their ######### hits validated no problem.
-
I've seen many clips of that. After all, in the Entity's realm, nothing makes sense
-
It's really up to personal preference. You need to experiment and find what works for you.
I've always curved with mouse at 400 dpi and default game sensitivity. But then someone like Battleguy has no issues at 6000 dpi.
Whether you use mouse or keyboard, I suggest you start low and then increase as necessary.

I didn't play huntress or use iri. I started as spirit and found two survivors at basement shack on a gen. I hit one and go after the uninjured one. I take her down/hook her outside of basement and see the other one healing at the shack still w/ nurse's calling. I hook the second survivor in the basement and the first one gets unhooked. So I go over there, down the uninjured guy and hook him... Second guy is unhooked. I slug them both. Then they start dcing and I seen the last one... When down her she dc'd too. I don't mind losing the bbq stack. I just want my prayer beads 😥.
It was meant as half a joke half serious. Don't read too much into it.
-
If all the survivors dc'd, your iri head worked as intended.
-
You're not tunneling because of DS. You're tunneling because of their attitude by baiting or because you know the DS is gone.
By your own description, you wouldn't even tunnel if it was because you picked up before 1 min. Seems like DS is clearly not the issue.
Also, you're basically admitting that you're playing on easy mode and simply playing with your food. If they gave you a run for your money, would you really not tunnel straight away if there was no obsession? The answer to that question is for yourself.

Good to me buddy. She was Good enough to destroy multiple people EXCEPT me. And I mean DESTROY. Her blinks were PRECISE. I literally said so much in her own skill so don't you go cherry picking and starting crap. She is good but not the best if she was the best or really good I would have died too. I know what I am doing thats like saying a rank 12 oni sucks just because he cant catch me even though he can wreck everyone else he plays against.
Nobody's trying to start crap. You're on a discussion forum, not in front of an audience of yesmen. Learn to take differing opinions and lose the attitude.
And what I said is objective. No good killer commits to 2-min chases. No good Nurse needs 2 min to down a survivor on an open map like Mother's Dwelling. Even more so if they had range add-ons. I said they weren't good. I never said you weren't. For as much as I know you might be a god-tier survivor. That is irrelevant in this context. A good Nurses doesn't get run like that on an open map.
Your comparison is also illogical. The rank 12 Oni who just holds W can down your teammates who do the same in 15-sec chases. Then he comes after a survivor who does basic looping and he gets run for 7 gens. The Oni would still suck. The fact that your teammates suck as well doesn't make him a better killer than he is.

Cool story
Sarcasm is not a surrogate for lack of logical arguments. Try to focus on the latter, because you're as good at the former as the Nurse itt was at blinking.

she had range add one.

They're probably running localized testing for MMR matchmaking in the background. That would be my guess. They did it the first time on Xbox, iirc.

Something is going on with matchmaking again. Been noticing it extremely the past days.
About 2 weeks ago I lost almost every single killer match. Had multiple 3-4 minute 5 gen matches (even versed Exlelite's tournament team) despite getting quick downs. Fastest game was 3 minute and 8 seconds for all 5 gens.
Now I'm either getting green rank survivors OR red rank survivors that PLAY LIKE green rank survivors resulting in 5 gen 4ks.
Like what the actual -beeep- is going on?
UBK is no joke. You can run Ruin/Devour Hope against them, though. They're way too paranoid of Haunted Grounds and they don't cleanse losing a lot of gen progress. However, if you're on a low mobility killer you might as well go chill in the corner of the map anyway.
-
Because they watch too much YT and they think they're the second coming of they're favorite childish content creator.
-
For survivors, it doesn't really matter, given that the requirement is quite simple.
For killers, it depends. Some killers don't really need add-on. Every killer has good and bad maps. So, it's not ideal but not that bad either. I'd say rank color matters the most, because that dictates how hard double pipping will be. If you're in the red ranks, you probably want to stack the odds in your favor as much as possible by bringing the best stuff you can.
-
It's an interesting concept, but removing the chase music for the survivor is actually a buff FOR the survivor. So, I would remove or change that part.
