maybe it has something to do with latency; some people are finding a couple hits to be inconsistent but who knows
Yeah latency is playing a part for sure sometimes, I feel like I'm just outside of the vine ring on the floor and from time to time I still get hit.

Honestly, I'm not quite sure whether this is true or not. I haven't noticed a difference when Henry uses his M2 Inside Worldbreaker or outside of it; but that would be something to look into since that's a VERY critical detail regarding how to counter him and deal with him.
It's entirely possible it's a cominbation of me mis-remembering a loading screen tip from the PTB + my own experiences vs Henry (I always seem to find it easier dodging him outside of worldbreaker than when it's active, I can't describe why at the moment).
But it's something to look into I suppose.
-
So there's something that's been bothering me since the PTB and this could be a placebo case but I swear I read something that said this was a thing
Supposedly, when Worldbreaker is active - Henry's power attacks come out faster than they do outside of it. I swear I saw this in a loading screen tip on the PTB.
I'm not saying this is a fact as it is not mentioned anywhere in his power description but the fact they intentionally left out the mori mechanic from that (Confirmed on dev livestream) I'm not entirely sure it's fully accurate.

As you see, apparently nobody seems to care that killer players found those add-ons (which were guaranteed free health states) incredibly frustrating to go against. It really isn’t worth the effort trying to convince people who don’t seem to want to consider the perspective of the role that they themselves don’t personally play.
I try not to worry about stuff like that too much, for a lot of people it becomes just a circular argument where no side comes to an understanding or agreement about anything.
It just devolves into:
"X side finds this frustrating"
"yeah but Y side has to deal with Z, so it's fine!"
I'd much prefer it if somebody would just respond with something like "Well, I thought old syringes/stypics were fine because xyz" Even if I end up disagreeing at least I'd get why people thought that way.
-
@killer_hugs said:
Survivors gave up OTR, Styptic and Syringe for 5 seconds of extra anti-tunnel. Kind of hilarious honestly.
OTR is still good though, no killer is waiting out 40s of endurance. The whole point of it as an anti-tunnel perk is to guarantee you get 2 health states if you're tunnelled off hook.
Styptic/Syringes were just unfair, not saying they shouldn't be impactful or strong but there's a reason why Killer plays found them incredibly frustrating.
-
@diablo916 said:
Well they keep nerfing every strategy killer gets so dont be surprised when survivor gets stale.
But tunnelling a survivor out and running 4 gen regression perks is still the best way to win. Could you please elaborate on what you mean by "every strategy" because running gen perks and tunnelling hasn't really changed all that much.
When the devs actually looked at that and tried (very badly, in my opinion) to fix/change that, the pushback they got was so big it never made it to live.
-
Better than new
I want to use it but it's sooo bad
-
Killrate data I bet
Also, a funny sidenote - during a recent dev livestream (The tunnelling/camping one); one of the devs seem baffled why The Game had the highest amount of time survivors spent slugged and the chat was literally screaming PALLETS PALLETS ITS BECAUSE OF PALLETS
And when the chat's behaviour was mentioned by, I think Eric Pope or whoever - they seemed confused why they were mentioning pallets…
This isn't meant to be a sly remark or anything I just thought it was relevant to the discussion.
-
Discussion and alternative perspectives mostly, dbd's one of those games where having a narrow minded perspective really hinders you.
E.g if you only play Survivor and discuss Survivor problems then you miss out on understanding the Killer role and it's various problems. Vice versa. I truly think if everyone played both roles more, there'd be less mud flinging in the community. Not to say you can't have preferences or anything like that, that's totally fine.
I've even got an anecdotal example, when I was newer to the forum - I believe it was around the time Wraith got a big buff, I was getting really frustrated going against him so I made a thread basically saying "is shadowdance wraith OP what am I supposed to do against it" and the responses I got really helped and changed my perspective which in turn helped me play better against it.

@Coffeecrashing said:
For over 95% of the players, a lot of killers are better than Nurse.
Tier lists based on the top 0.001% of players, aren’t relevant to over 95% of players. Average MMR players are likely to get better kill rates off of some other killer, and they’re also highly unlikely to be matched against a Nurse player that’s high enough MMR to be overperforming.
Learning Nurse is not that hard, c'mon now.
You can prob spend a week or two learning Nurse then with slowdowns/aura perks completely dominate the majority of casual matches.

From my experience, lobby shoppers on the survivor side operate on very simple logic
"Is the ping bad? If yes, dodge"
"If I can't see the hours of one of my teammates, due to private profile - Dodge."
"If I CAN see the hours of my teammates and it's not to my standards - Dodge"
"If I've played with someone in this lobby before and didn't win - Dodge"
These 4 are, in my experience, the biggest reason why people on the survivor side lobby shop. There's some even pettier reasons people do it like if they see a default character, licensed character in the lobby or someone not bringing an item.
-
Yeah while I do not like the idea of the OPs post the underlying actual point of it is something I agree with
Playing Springtrap and getting meme addons like Celebrate poster is quite frustrating or playing some other Killer with addons that either hinder you or help the survivors in some way isn't great. I get that it's supposed to be the gamble gamemode but it's kinda one sided because survivors don't have item addons that actively hinder the item they are using to my knowledge

So, they just should forget the 10th anniversary of their game entirely?
I will say though, the Collector's Edition including a "replica flashlight" makes me facepalm, and 9000 shards? Really? That's like maybe $7.50.No but doing it literally the day after does make it seem like a cheap distraction tactic
Like "hey halloween is leaving but look!!! merch!!!! anniversary!!!".
Not that I completely believe that's the case, but… It could be.

Wild that they spent all those resources reworking Myers so recently. That license did indeed save DBD.
Speculation:
They HAD to rework myers in order to get him to an acceptable 'end-of-life' state before the expiry since after that, while they can still make changes - nobody can purchase the content anymore so from a business standpoint it makes 0 sense to do so
I think characters who are removed from the store still get 'support' like minor bug fixes & balance changes but now it makes complete sense why a Myers Rework was seemingly rushed I mean look at how bad the first iteration of it was.

I mean true, but is the solution to that not to give BOTH sides something interesting. Rather than just swap which role has the shiny new toy?
That just makes too much sense unfortunately.
Jokes aside, I don't really know what kind of thought process goes into it.
-
In all fairness, the survivor role usually always gets the lamer powers in most other events
I mean Killers getting remote hooking and remote pallet breaking compared to the survivor powers during the anniversary event for example
Then again, you could argue a power centered around generators is pretty lame because "gens = boring".
-
I have a simple creed.
If you're safe enough to work on a generator, you're safe enough to take chase again and you're not being tunnelled.

Lol. You do realize he's a fog whisperer, right? Have you noticed that you never see a fog whisperer playing against comp players? Otz and Tru3 play at roughly the same time on the same servers, yet Tru3 is consistently against comp survivors, and Otz is against potatoes that run into walls.
Just a funny little thing I noticed.
They're in diff regions though.
Tru3 plays in London servers at peak UK times and Otz probably plays in Frankfurt servers.

I’m not sure I understand it at all so I’m going to reserve my judgement for the PTB I guess.
Basically instead of stalking to power up tiers, Myers starts with both available and 'stalking' is something only done in T1 to power up his tier 3 'dash attack' which is basically like a demo shred, propels you forward and breaks pallets. Only difference is it insta-downs survivors instead of t3 exposing them.

This is a hilarious overexaggeration over a achievement you'll get with normal play. This isn't Evil Incarnate or Jump Scared, where you have to buy a licensed character and then interact with mechanics that are incredibly difficult to perform consistently to get a achievement, or the Huntress orbital achievement, which requires knowledge of maps, control over the hatchets, and likely also throw matches to grind it if you're not a fan of Huntress. Hell, this isn't even Hand Eye Coordination, which requires a player seperate from you to have Vecna, and for you to successfully roll a 20, attune to the item you recieve, and then not die. This is a map achievement, and map achievements come naturally.
I don't 100% agree with your entire post but I will say
Skilled Huntress is 100% the hardest achievement if you're someone who has no interest in playing her. (Which sadly, that is me).

Pretty sure "slop" these days is just a buzzword for "thing i don't like therefore it is automatically low quality but thing I like is higher quality".
Just a way for people to make themselves feel like their opinion is the superior one, even though it'd be incredibly easy to say the same thing back to said person.
Like instead of listing all the reasons I dislike Skull merchant (her horrible lore, character design, power and so on) I just say she's 'a low-effort slop character' and called it a day.

The thing about Clean Break is that you're completely capable of activating it when you're not likely to be in danger for a while, and then you can just hop on generators and be entirely efficient. Second Wind only activates twice, and while it's definitely good, I don't think it matches the flexibility of Clean Break.
They're both good perks, but I genuinely think Clean Break is the better pick in a lot of situations. It allows for great efficiency across multiple uses, and while Second Wind is similar, it's more restricted in ways I think make it a bit weaker.
Clean Break isn't really that efficient though.
You have to heal a survivor first (32s since 16s x 2 survivors) then have that survivor try to heal you and THEN you trigger a 60s broken timer which yes, you can do other things during the timer but you're an incredibly easy target compared to if you had just let the teammate heal you and you had both health states available
Sure on paper it SOUNDS efficient but that time isn't really that important if you end up chased and going down in half the time because you weren't healthy.
-
"Clean Break" in very good and "Second Wind" in a tier below it is kind of criminal I'm ngl
Clean Break feels like a Killer perk a lot of the time, you're actively opting to stay broken for an entire minute when you COULD have been healed by your teammate since that's it's activation window
Meanwhile Second Wind's countdown activates at a very important time (Being unhooked) and is only 20 seconds.

I'm fine with guide not getting the gen speed back, but they need to do something else to make it better. As they are now, I think they are just too weak/uninteractive compared to the other classes.
I think a nice solution to help make the class more interesting would be if Guides had a boost to opening chests or something, or maybe get to open 1 chest instantly per hook state.
Guides should get a built in plunderers/ace in the hole effect. Would be cool since there's already a lot of chests in 2v8.

From 9.1.2 patch notes:

If the survivor items didn't exist he'd feel more oppressive than he does right now. He feels pretty balanced.
The mage hand haste item alone helps significantly against him as does the one that shows his aura whenever he's using Fly.

Looping him in wolf form is actually a lot harder than he would be in his normal form, thanks to how little he is punished for missing the dash, meaning that he could easily catch back up to you.
At least the Hellfire is more predictable, plus you can see Dracula himself a lot easier over standard height loops. Also, dodging the dash is a lot harder than dodging Hellfire.

so just because you can hear the bats and the wolf that makes him a fair killer?
When Dracula's chasing you, there's no ambiguity what form he's in and what that form can do. They have limitations.
Vampire mode? Okay, straight line hellfire attack. Play around that possibility; don't give him an easy shot and watch out for baits. Has a decent cooldown if he misses.
Werewolf mode? Okay, two lunge-dashes. Play around that. Use the surroundings or find a pallet for safety.
Once you learn the forms and how they work, vsing him as Survivor isn't as bad as you make it out to be. There's a difference between "strong killer with counterplay" and "Killer with no counterplay at all".
-
I think Dracula's one of the most telegraphed Killers in the roster and that's what makes him fairer than some others.
You will always know what he's doing, even outside of chase.
-
Houndmaster from Darkest Dungeon for The Houndmaster. Literally the PERFECT idea and BHVR owns Red Hook so outside of them not wanting it for their own reasons it's feasible in terms of crossover potential
-
Both items hurt the 1v4 aspect but my logic is this:
Medkits make survivors waste time off gens, good for not being as pressured but don't progress the main objective. Medkits also make solo q a lot more bearable, you could argue the same for toolboxes but I don't think that applies as much as it does here.
Meanwhile toolboxes speed gens up meaning Killer's have less wiggle room overall in a match; leading to faster games and overall less time for fun interactions/back and forths.
If one had to go, Toolboxes would be it.
-
Shattered hope should be like Weave or Human Greed
On top of being able to break the totems, it should reveal survivors who enter a boon radius for x amount of seconds.

Do you have proof of this? Not saying you're lying I'm just genuinely curious if that's true.

Most of the content creators that people talk about are survivor main apologists. Survivor content and "lol watch me loop this killer for 5 gens XDDDDDD" gets way more views than just a killer player dominating the game. Content creators in general are biased because they are trying to create the content that is the most interesting to watch that gets them the most views, and ultimately the most money.
You conveniently forget the fact that some of the most popular Killer centric content on YT is "salty sweaty SWF ABSOLUTELY DECIMATED BY MY TRAPPER" "SALTY SURVIVOR COULD NOT HANDLE MY KANEKI" and so on and so forth
Both sides do it. I don't think this is your point, but i don't get why people call others "apologists" if they acknowledge that maybe this role has its annoyances and problems that need addressing in the same way they do for the role they prefer themselves
-
If this was added and there was no way to turn it off, I would stop playing this game altogether and I'm not being hyperbolic.
-
Also the Jason mask in the glass panel, probably other movie references too.
-
For me, it helps to come into Killer matches with some kind of personal secondary goal.
Could be I wanna practice learning a new killer, or I wanna try certain perk combinations/synergies or it could simply be "I wanna practice mindgames". Stuff like that goes a long way in not making the outcome of matches too worrysome pre-game wise.
Another point I always tell myself is sometimes things just don't go your way and it's not your fault. RNG be like that. If I'm playing Trapper and I get Eyrie I'm not gonna be too surprised if I lose but it's worth trying and usually you can walk away from those games with a 2k, which most people consider a tie.
-
I like the extra challenge + it helps keep my opinions on the survivor side of the game grounded. One mistake in a solo Q game can mean the Killer just wins and not a lot of people talk about those aspects.

Can someone help me understand how it got DDoS'd? Did a person on the friendlist slip in? Or anyone can spectate? I just don't understand how the hacker got in.
From what I've come to understand, someone figured out an exploit with spectator slots and used that to crash the server. The exploiters found the server somehow and yeah.
That's the short version, it's probably more complex than that but that's how Otz's solution 'fixes' it since if all spectator slots are full, the exploit cannot be done.

It’s disingenuous saying they don’t give af when most of the changes and ideas that have happened coincidentally all came from CC mouths like Otz, hens and Scott Jund
Most of there suggestions were actually taken and made into dbd
See the problem is we don't actually know WHY things are like this at the moment, most people are chalking it up to incompetence but things aren't usually THIS bad.
I have so many burning questions like:
Why did TWD release in the state it did?
Why was the 'map' not on the roadmap and what was with the huge communication issues surrounding 'it's not a map it's a special tile' 'actually it is a map'.
What's going on with the Community Managers and their communication lately?
Not to sound like I'm jumping to conclusions but something's not right. The FNAF chapter, while a bit buggy on launch was pretty smooth in terms of community stuff so what's changed?
-
- If I see a survivor go for a window vault and get vaccumed into a locker instead I'll leave them on the ground. Been victim to this too many times in my games
- If I see someone intentionally sandbagging they become priority target #1
- If I notice a survivor trying to stealth and failing really badly I'll do the 'slow turn' thing. It's funny
- When something goofy happens I'll look straight up for comedic effect. I do this on survivor as well
- If I'm messing with a survivor and they manage to moonwalk I'll moonwalk with them. Funny.
- If I down the last survivor and they don't insta-abandon I'll usually let them out.
- I frequently use head shaking not to BM but to express my disappointment.

Imagine a bugged charm that crashed people's games if someone equipped it

Pretty funny how there was tech issues when they got the actor who plays Dustin from Stranger Things for a livestream and now this. You'd think they'd not take risks and just pre-record this stuff in advance so it goes as smoothly as possible and don't make an absolute mess of things.
There's no point in having a livestream if you can't even do the stuff you planned to do in the first place. I got second hand embarrassment from watching.
While it's not my intention to rub salt in the situation, I have to admit I find it somewhat ironic that this happened given the whole debacles recently with the extremely buggy state of affairs.
-
I do think Arinad had a point in his PTB thoughts vid
Clown's reloading should not be swift nor convenient - If he needs to reload mid chase he messed up and should be punished for it much like Huntress, Slinger, Trickster are punished for needing to reload mid-chase as well. I hate how in the patch that made him even worse for survivors in the 1v1, they made his one built in weakness completely obsolete
-
I don't think it should add gen-tapping but Technician could do with some changes, such as:
- Removing the extra skillcheck miss penalty, makes no sense for it to be there
- Reduce miss skill check penalty by 25% so instead of -10 charges, it's -7.5.
There, made a perk that's actually good for newer players to use.

so true otz only plays killers he doesn't care about survivors and only want their nerfs, I hope they won't listen to him that much
Otz starts almost every DBD stream he does playing a few rounds of survivor.
He also advocates for changes to Killer stuff that he considers unhealthy for the game. Tombstone, Kaneki, Old iri addons that were too powerful (Red head's pinky finger, Engineer's Fang, Iridescent Head).
It's fine to say Otz has a bias towards the side he plays, but he never outright advocates for only Survivor nerfs. It's just factually and provably wrong.
-

yes i did, with the fact u can no longer do the enduring pallet trick of hitting a survivor and instantly turning back to hit them while vaulting
windows are mostly fine tho pallets have been weird for a while
either the finess bug is effecting everyone if one survivor has it or something else is going on
You can still do it, As a Legion main it's a trick I do all the time
But it IS a lot harder now, for a couple of reasons:
- Grab validation, sometimes you get the grab/the score event but the server says no and turns it into an m1 instead which causes the survivor to get away with it
- Combine the above with resillience and it happens wayyy more often

The voice work is absolutely astounding too, Brad Dourif & Jennifer Tilly are absolute legends for putting in the work they did. You can really see their passion for the franchise shine through in the voicelines
-
I'd say Chucky is perfect
He doesn't really have any special power in the movies other than possessing people and being a doll. Just the fact BHVR found a way to make him work at all still impresses me to this day
