Playing killer without any perks or add-ons is extremely difficult. Personally, for me, I can't play killer without perks but I do not use add-ons. Your win % is pretty impressive!
Thanks man!
I find that going perkless actually provides a benefit, for the killer you become more focused cause sometimes perks make you play a certain way that could lead to mistakes. For survivors sometimes people sweat more when they see you have gen slowdown perks and other things like that.
Overall though its about maintaining your gen spread, injuries and pallets. You gotta stay focused and make the right decisions, I love playing like this sometimes cause it provides a big challenge than just playing normally. -
the videos of my games for this challenge are now being uploaded each day on my YT channel if anyone wants to see my terrible gameplay against baby survivors 😄

These results aren't necessarily meant to be overly scrutinized, its just a fun challenge I did. Moreover, even if you were playing low skill survivors I know a lot of killer players that wouldn't excel doing something like this, especially being forced to play every killer this way. I like doing stuff like this cause I think it's fun to challenge myself, and I actually like m1 killers so I can play most any killer with a good degree of competency.
-
I can't remember the exact number of his wins, but compared to me, in terms of the games we gained points on each other, I won the challenge like 16 - 9 or something, so even him tunneling like crazy, I did better without tunneling. 😜

@Grigerbest said:
You did 4k as a Hag with no perks, addons, and no tunneling? Does survivors were afk? Killed themselves on first hook?
Freddy 4k before the rework? Nah.
The results are VERY questionable.
I can confidently tell - these results are indicating on how bad the survivors are playing the game.
Let alone on how often they're giving up.
If you were playing against an average team who knows how to play the game (with the same no perks, no addons, no tunneling) - most of the killer names on your results would've been painted in blue.
Good news for you is I have videos of all 39 games and will be uploading them daily on my youtube channel as of Tomorrow :)

You were allowed to camp?
While I did not do it often, if I deemed it necessary to win the game I did allow myself to camp or slug people, I never camped 1st hook till death nor 4 slugged though.

Oh yeah I know. Its just such a stark contrast. Like one beam drone Skull Merchant with no perks and playing nice managed to get a 4k on pallet town. Those survivors must have been really bad.
I also did stuff like this lol

Interesting results. Killers like Wesker and Oni got zero kills but the likes of Trapper and SM got a 4k.
Some maps and some survivors are better than others, also 39 games, some mistakes get made lol.

I found one more thing to fix, Dracula shouldn't be included in blindness. He had an addon for that in his PTB but it got changed because it was really bad (it's the hinder addon now; the old effect was "Passing within 1 meter of a survivor during teleport inflicts Blindness for 10 seconds." and no the 10 seconds is not a typo it really was that garbage)
I fixed Dracula and also I went to the wiki and looked up all the killers power descriptions and fixed/added the rest of what I believe is missing, as well as added Endurance for Knight as he seems to be the only killer capable of independently giving it to a survivor for when they grab his flag.

You're right, someone told me she was missing but I rememeber now why I didn't put her 🙄 I fixed it again.

Added Huntress under Exposed, no idea how I missed putting that.

Thank you for the list. We do have 2 things to add.
Artist can cause hindered with "untitled agony" add on
Vecna can get haste with " boots of speed".
Artist was there already, vecna added, I thought i did that before but i must have put him in the wrong category when doing it.

It's funny looking at all of these with most of the statuses having multiple killers and then Deafened is literally just Hag, lol. Madness only has Doctor too but obviously that makes sense, that's part of his power. I always forget that Huntress still has an addon for Incapacitated, I never see anyone run it.
Also looking at this reminds me, RIP the 90-second blindness Unicorn Block for Freddy, that's going away in the upcoming rework and it was the longest-lasting timed blindness effect in the game.
(Side note - why is Vecna included under blindness and hindered? He doesn't have anything for those effects)

Slinger doesn't apply the Status Effect itself. Cenobite does.

@ReverseVelocity said:
Cenobite applies Incapacitated with his chains.
Carrying Turrets against the Xenomorph applies it too, but that's not technically the killer applying that one so I wouldn't blame you if you left it off the list.
lots of killers have it technically, like deathslinger, but I left out any killer that does it via a grab in chase, exception was twins since you can not be in chase and still be incapacitated.

Trickster= I would place him at B tier honestly, while am glad he is 115 now, having to hit survivors 8 times before a health state is not too easy specially if am not using ricochet(my favorite add on) Smart survivors will just take you high walls and make you feel useless, cause unlike huntress/slinger/artist with their planet size powers, he cant do much and his knifes only go in 1 direction. He only can perform in outdoor maps fine but it depends on which outdoor map. Then again am not the best at killer so it must be a me problem lol.
@FrostySeal said:
Twins are easily A tier, Victor is near impossible to avoid if you're good at him, and as long as you can keep survivors consistently injured the twins are one of the most oppressive Killers.
Trickster is low B tier. He has an advantage against other ranged Killers with that 115% movement speed but he suffers a lot, especially on indoor maps or maps with a lot of high wall loops. Having to hit 8 knives makes chases sometimes drag on way too long and he doesn't have any map mobility to make up for it which hurts him greatly. The one thing he excels is easily camping and tunneling though, with his main event and fast throw speed you can easily kill both the saver and the unhooked person if your in a good enough spot.
Ghostface is C tier. Against good survivors, he's nothing more than a Killer who can sometimes get the jump on you but nothing else. He doesn't have any anti-loop or map mobility which means unless you can consistently keep up the pressure against Survivors he'll start losing momentum very quickly. He's also very map dependant meaning he can be almost powerless on some maps making him feel very frustrating to play.

Pseudo Trickster main here. I'd put him squarely in the middle of B tier as he currently is, his previous iteration (which I have no idea why any trickster players would want him reverted to) was easily F tier right next to Freddy.
I created this tierlist using people who main each killer's own tier placement choices:

Description: Playing on the newly added Ormond 2 or Ormond 3 and repairing the Chalet generator and escaping does not trigger the achievement.
I was playing as Yui, only using her perks (Any Means Necessary, Breakout, Lucky Break), and had on her new Fox Tail pants, but not the full outfit. I do not recall if it was Ormond 2 or 3 specifically. I had repaired one other gen that trail, and helped, but didn't finish the third. I had also 99'ed a door, but it was opened by a teammate.
All maps that have been updated and not fully switched to new versions do not have gen triggers tied to achievements, for maps such as Ormond and Yamaoka you can only proc the achievement progress on the original versions of the maps.

bumping this thread since the devs give little to on care to fix bigger achievements as evidenced by the fact this one has been broken since April.

Final version of my tier list, no further changes will be made for a while.

Here is my updated version of the Tier List which now includes the 5 newest killers from Singularity to Vecna and accounts for changes to maps/killers and new maps. I have changed about half of the selections so as usual please give me your feedback on what you think might need more adjustments on any of the killers here, but I would especially love opinions on Singularity, Xenomorph, Chucky, Unknown and Vecna, outside of Vecna I don't play the other 4 really.

It's been over a year since I made this, so I thought I'd bump this to try and revise what people's thoughts are on the best/worst maps for killers.
Any new adjustments people thing should be made to this list either based off of new meta's, changes to killers and killer play/counter-play or even if some of the newer maps should replace any of these as bests or worsts?
Also any thoughts on the best/worst maps for Singularity, Xenomorph, Chucky, Unknown and Vecna?

I agree with your overall points and ambitions, but I don't think this really proves anything other than human players can sometimes be actively worse than bots. There were gens left untouched in areas you never went too, Survivors basically standing still in areas they had no reason to be standing still in, Claire literally ran right into you at one point despite having direct LoS for some reason. I'm sorry, but anyone who remembers the W key would've utterly cleared you here.
I mean, take 8:30 for instance. Both Claire and Ellen have ample distance and speed to just walk away from you but Claire ran straight into a tree and Ellen got back on the gen right next to you while in lunging distance and with literally nothing to stop you from seeing her.
This isn't a knock against you or your morals, but these survivors have made this match meaningless to analyze critically simply because there were almost no correct plays made from them this match aside from the initial gens they managed to get done without issue.
This is one of 35 games, I don't play nurse almost ever, my mmr is probably indeed low on nurse compared to other killers, but mmr works as a whole so I wouldn't say its minimum either. I will just post each game, I'm uploading them once a day, some games I probably went against jokers or babies, some games against experts who trounced me, and some games are evenly matched. No one needs to be impressed by this, or view one single game as my whole point. I did 36 games, I won a majority of them. I'm not a comp or "master" player and do not claim to be, but I had fun doing this challenge and recorded it all so I feel like it would be fun to post it. I still do think that learning skill based looping and playing would improve gameplay would high level killers or at least, there's not much skill involving with tunneling out a game as a powerful killer. But most of these games I did for myself and cause I enjoy the m1 playstyle.

Ok… I'm not gonna lie… when i saw this initially I was thinking "Nurse would be matchbox Nurse, I can maybe believe that". However no, you are also running no add-ons, so then I raised an eyebrow…
Benefit of the doubt, I watched the video, what popped in my mind was: -
- 0:20-1:45 - The Claudette kept mysteriously not making distance from you… she should be holding W and trying to break LOS, which she does, but she seems to keep doing this weird wiggle, and deliberately slowing down at points for you to keep up, then running to open topped loops… OK bad decision. At this point can chalk it up to not being sure what you're doing… but she starts throwing pallets, even though throwing pallets against Nurse is not smart, I'm willing to believe we have an average survivor here.
- 1:45-3:00 - Spent wandering aimlessly between gens for near 80 seconds with no pressure whatsoever.
- 3:00 - Kate can be seen in the bushes meandering back and forth for some reason and stays put to take a free hit… again chalk up to confusion why you're not using power.
- 3:15-3:30 - Kate took completely the wrong direction when she threw mid pallet and literally walked straight into you. This is just confusing, and doesn't make any sense for her to do, even if you were to use power… Claudette this whole time again just looks confused with what you're doing. She is dithering with Kate for some reason, and also misses the easiest stun of anyone's life at 3:22 and constantly wiggles back and forth to allow you to keep close… the only thing I can chalk this up to is being confused why you aren't using power.
- 3:30-4:00 - You spend wandering around casually breaking pallets and pick up Kate, who has been down now for nearly 40s with noone trying to save. This makes sense if they are doing gens, but we'll get to that.
- 4:00-4:55 - You basically just wander back and forth not chasing or pressuring anyone here. You ignore Claudette still doing her weird movement, you ignore Ripley whatever she is doing, Claire makes a save and runs up the stairs. How have only 3 generators been done when you've basically had 0 pressure… you have never engaged more than 2 survivors across this 5 minutes…. and the fact that you have engaged 2 survivors was both of them wandering around in no man's land aimlessly literally applying 0 pressure.
- 4:55-5:15 we get our chase with Claire which lasts 15s as she throws the pallet and stands still while you cut her off, falls for the simplest mid game ever and then immediately runs into a deadzone; then for some reason even turns right back into you to fall on your saw…
- This whole time at this point I'm sat thinking to myself It's been 5 minutes where at least 2 survivors have been completely free to do generators absolutely contested. You should be on 4 gens done, with 1 gen about to pop even with the most brain dead of teams. The only possible reason why this might not be the case is everyone is confused what you're doing and messing around…. but this is being very generous.
- 5:15-6:20 - More aimless walking where you have zero pressure… Ripley randomly runs up to you and seemingly hasn't moved from main door all game…
- 6:25 - Claire goes to second stage hook… while completely uncontested for most of it… again if there were gens popping maybe it'd make some sense… but it's clear that isn't happening by this point.
- 6:25-7:20 - Kate is pre-throwing pallets that she can easily greed… at this point your cat should be out of the bag, and she is pre-throwing to buy time from you… she holds W and makes the kind of distance I'd have been expected Claudette to be making this whole time… only to for some reason try to play the event pallet, which I can only assume is out of boredom (if I'm being generous) cause she has miles on you at the point she drops.
- 7:35 - Gen progress… OMG! It is possible…. but you kick, which your 3.95 Nurse can't possibly catch back up… you shouldn't be landing M1s anyway, but any chance you had is gone here…
- 7:40-8:05 - We see some really weird movement from both.. agian if you were playing Nurse some of this hesitation makes sense, but at this point the cat is out of the bag… and Ripley going to trade here just is baffling…
- 8:05-8:25 - Not gonna rag on you for missing the lunge, it happens to everyone sometimes… but Jesus this whole sequence was pretty painful to watch…
- 8:30 - Claire and Ripley… what the hell am I watching?
- 8:50-9:10 - Tells me where Claudette's mind was at. She stopped caring ages ago is the only explanation.
- 9-10-9:45 - Just Wow.
- 9:50-End - Who even cares any more?
The reason i bring all of this up is your first post:
"I wanted to show that any killer can be played well using an m1 playstyle and why strong killers who tunnel at 5 gens are not really
that skilled at the game and could improve by learning proper looping and map management techniques."At no point in this game did you show any proper looping and map management techniques… quite honestly watching this game was a little embarrassing… there are bad survivors, there are bambis, there are ameobas… and then there is this. It was shockingly bad, to the point I have no means of assessing your own skill… because you literally didn't demonstrate any… you didn't have to, the survivors might as well have just fallen on your saw…
This game should have been done at dusted at maybe 3 hooks 6 minutes in, and that's being generous with your average waste time soloQ team… suffice to say… I seriously question how much weight can be put being the argument that killers who tunnel at 5 gens are unskilled. I personally don't think tunneling is necessary to win, I believe it puts the game on a dice roll that can easily backfire into a 3 or 4 man escape against the right survivor/build… but if this is the counter evidence, we've got a lot of work to do.
It is what it is :)
-
I'm gonna keep posting my games every day, feel free to call me a bad player or the survivors bad, none of my gameplay is going to look like i'm an expert comp player. It would be fun if the community for a change could enjoy interesting content but that's ok, I know it's only impressive if it's comp games or top 1% players and even than no matter what you say or show people only want to believe your mmr is low as if it matters.
I did this challenge for fun, I wanted 75% wins and I got it, what opinions people have outside of that is yours to have, not like me arguing is gonna change anyones opinions anyway right? :) -

I have footage of all 36 games and will be posting them to my youtube channel, in answer to some other questions. Survivor error does become a factor in these games and not all games are against bad players. Furthermore if a killer isn't using their power, you have to rely on other tactics such as forcing quick downs through hook returns, map management of 3 gens or ignoring long chases in hard to close areas like shack or main buildings.

There are about 2 or 3 'killer sided' maps in the game, and a dozen or so 'survivor sided' maps. And you think it's fair to give survivors the ability to coordinate to veto 4 maps every game while the killer gets 1?
Survivors could still just as easily abuse this by coordinating to ban Midwich, RPD, Lerys and Gideon, and you get no indoor options to ensure you can see the killer at all times. Meanwhile killer bans Garden of Joy and can still get Badham, Eyrie, Borgo, half of the Macmillan/Coldwind/Autohaven maps, Dead Dawg with it's new infinite, or Ormond.
And ultimately, you're still going to have to force people to play on maps they don't want to play on, because you're not going to have the offering you need to burn every single game.
That's what a sac ward is for, and its much better to use to re-include map options without the guarantee of them, than randomize ALL maps while still having the chance to go to where you don't want.
Sac ward is a dumb solution to map selection. At least in this case it allows a killer the chance and no survivor or killer is guaranteed any map.
Also would like to point at DBD might be the only game with a ranked gamemode where one team technically has map control power (4 survivors with 1 offering override a killer map or even sac ward). Most other games use a map voting system, full random map or pre-selected maps that you only go to where the other team also agreed (CS:GO).
It's insane to me that one side can select the map over the other.
-
Wanted to broach this subject again, I still feel like map offerings should work the opposite way and know without community support no chance bhvr would ever take notice of this idea.

I understand what you mean, but to me that is not difficulty to master the killer. That is difficulty to achieve a win due to the killer being weaker overall. Sure, it's harder to consistently achieve wins as Myers against skilled survivors, but that's because he is weaker. He is not harder to master than any other killer, simply because his power is extremely simple to use and learn. You must learn when to stalk without wasting too much time, 99'ing your stalks and sneaking up on people. Beside that, you just have to be aware of how to use the benefits of his TIII. Like, know when you will get a hit with your extended lunge and if quickly vaulting that window will award you with a hit or not.
All of those things are extremely simple and can be learned in less than a day. Beside that, it will all come down on your knowledge and skill on the basic killer mechanics. In other words, if you master the standard ways of applying pressure, M1 chasing, mind-gaming and making decisions while playing killer, you are close to mastering Myers even if you have never played him. Meanwhile, mastering almost every other killer requires you to master both the standard mechanics AND a power that requires more skill.
That’s a fair point I suppose, but I still think players who can do well without being toxic on weaker killers deserve more respect from the community than s tiers who go on win streaks in pubs by tunnelling every game.
-
@FilthyLegionRevival Legion is one I wasn't 100% sure about but I def think he goes in the hard category tho.
@Donleov I'll try to be a little clearer, when I use the term master a killer, I don't just mean learn their tips and tricks, but it's the second stage of learning how to USE those tips and tricks to be able to successfully play them and win on a consistent basis. And to do so without tunneling is oft even harder to do. Freddy is so hard to succeed with even knowing his tricks are often not enough, you need to do more, while blight, once you know how to bounce around, you're gaming at that point.
Difficulty to me, is comparing all the killer not in winning potential (as in 90% vs 100% vs 5 gens left vs 1 gen left) but in consistency potential. I put 80% as an achievable threshold for every killer in the game, the question becomes who is hardest to get that 80% with and maintain it, and to me, that's what this tier list is.

Thank you for the explanation. Admittedly we still disagree with the placements but now we know the logic behind them clearer.
I am not a 1-1 expert on every killer, but I have experience playing them all, I have every tome challenge and achievement in the game completed. I even play 13 other killers aside from my main with a good degree of skill and higher understanding and my main is also Wraith. I talk about this subject from a reasonable vantage point of knowing just how hard playing a Good Wraith is compared to other killers. When I play Wesker, winning is hardly as difficult, but I find it less rewarding as it is the skill ceiling of the harder killers that I quite enjoy improving at.
I've also lost enough games against TERRIBLE nurses and blight's for no other reason than the fact that they are a nurse or blight and my team is not a "really" coordinated swf, but most other killers that lacking would lose otherwise.
I never can have a proper discussion about this with the community and people often misunderstand the subtle difference between actual tier placement, difficulty to learn a killer and difficulty to "master" a killer and it's the last one in my mind that really sets apart good players from bad.
-
@Rulebreaker Well, half of the game when it comes to any killer is anti-loop techniques, and unfortunately with M1 killers like the ones in the hard category, even knowing those is often not enough, you require a higher level of play and understanding of the game to actually be able to play those killers to a comparable win percentage that the higher tier killers can achieve much more easily. While yes trapper is straightforward in terms of you place traps and all that. It takes a complex level of play to learn how to strategically place traps and successfully force or funnel survivors into them lest you are nothing more than an M1 machine which would require insane levels of skill to be very successful at.
A lot of the easy killers are ones where the complexity of the killer is quite low and the difficulty in reaching their potential is quite achievable as they do not suffer a lot of the drawbacks as M1 killers do.
The killers in the middle tiers are ones that have a degree of difficulty in learning all there is to know about how to make them useful and vary in how rewarding it is for doing so. You will notice that nurse and blight are not labelled the easiest, but it is not that difficult to play a decent one, the reward for even being average with those killers is super high. However a Spirit while also highly rewarding is still quite difficult to master as the reliance on sound limits a lot of players without really good headsets and is a skill most players are not adept at utilizing in the first place.

@Alice_pbg said:
do you mind explaining... all of the positioning on the tier list? literally all of them. very few make sense to me
Before I do, I need to know if you and the poster above you actually read my entire explanation, as this is not a judgement of how hard it is to literally play any of these killers. It is a judgement of how hard it is to master them and bring them into a competitive level of play.
Consider this way of looking at this tier list. This is how hard these killers would be to play, if the person playing each and every one of them, had a minimum of 1000 hours spent playing that particular killer.
Another way to clarify this is to say that if a person played a REALLY GOOD BUBBA or REALLY GOOD TRAPPER, this tier list shows the level of difficulty in "getting to that point of skill with that killer".
-
@Thusly_Boned As with any tier list I don't expect everyone to agree with all my placements for sure, but yes as you said, Trapper can only ever get so high as it is, but that is part of the reason he is at the highest tier in terms of difficulty. But with a Trapper as with most M1's there is a requirement to learn the fundamental principles of proper anti-loop techniques and to have better than basic strategic mindsets (mindgames) in order to even get close to competitive play. Which is why most of the hardest are those guys.
The reason at least to me Bubba is so low in difficulty is the same reason Wesker is, the threshold to learn and understand that killer is so low that it used to be the go to for all the sweatiest tunnellers and campers. That being said, it still won't mean you can play at a high tier. As with plague, the meta for what to do with a plague seems pretty simplistic in my mind. But how effective you can be at doing it depends on the players basic understanding of anti-loop. Applying pressure with a Plague is wildly simple compared to other killers just based on how she works. Pressure doesn't mean win though of course.
But yeah as you said, my point is it's quite frustrating to play a low-tier killer at a high skill ceiling and be told just play blight or not as good as blight, as if blight is this really hard achievement to get good at. I kinda hope I can show people how much more impressive it is to run into a really strong Wraith, Legion, Myers, than it is a Nurse or Blight.

The easiest way to get this achievement is to wait until you are the last survivor and if there is one gen remaining, rather than looking for hatch go repair a gen and hope you get one of those sweaty killers who camps hatch, complete the gen and try to mindgame a gate open.

The best new portraits funnily enough IMO are Quentin and Freddy, they actually did a good job on that chapter. Freddy actually looks legit scary.

Personally I think addons are best suited to being paired with the perks you are using, my argument for this is, you need perks more than you do addons, if you can win without perks, you can win without addons. I think the strength of an addon is how well it boosts the effectiveness of the perks you run, in how it boosts your power. But power boosting alone is not as important to me as the perks you run with.
Few examples of what I mean here. I play Wraith, Shadow dance and Swift hunt is nice to use overall. And it's great for a gen kick build, but if I wanted a chase build, using bamboozle, stbfl, fearmonger and such, i might use blind warrior and swift hunt or even all seeing blood.
Myers for example, infinite tier 3 goes well with the build I run, nowhere to hide + spirit fury meta, but if I wanted to use vanity mirror+dead rabbit, I'd suit that to a build for it, like plaything, monitor, fearmonger and STBFL
Wesker is another fun example, lots of addons to choose from, I like running all scourges on him, for that build I want addons that will remove obstacles easily, his irri for pallet break is good as is making it take longer to spray yourself.
I find addons and perks are like kindred spirirts, and the killer power is there for addons to boost it up, but perks are what drive the addons home.

I play Wraith on a PS4, with a spotty internet connection and a newly busted up TV with a dark spot on one side. I may get 360'd here and there and get sweat players and whatnot, but I find most games I can win with the right focus on strategy and knowing when and who to loop, how to allocate my time, what perks and addons to bring that benefit my killer and most importantly, keeping my swings tight and on point. Practice makes perfect.
But if you truly don't believe you can succeed in Pubs as a ps4 killer, I use a "crappy" M1 killer on a "crappy" console and I still consistently, like 80%+ get 3-4k wins and most of the time do it without tunneling, slugging or camping to do it and even often give the last player the chance to find hatch, with around 30% success rate for the survivor.
It's all about practice, perk/addon pairing, mindset and strategy over aggression (unless you're a damn good blight, nurse or wesker I suppose).
If you ask me the biggest issue with Console is the Desynch issue in relation to PC priority and more than anything the survivor's ability to Shift+W around loops even crappy ones in ways that a PC killer would not find hard to combat.
But it's part of the cross-play experience, you make do.

Ever update that has ever been or will ever be will DESTROY any playstation players game for a minimum of 2 weeks until the devs give a crap to fix it, get used to it. BHVR loves Playstation, that's why every update ****s us.
