Didn't you recently make a post saying that anti-loop mechanics don't need to actually involve loops at all?
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4004525#Comment_4004525
Survivors would just 99% generators to exploit this. Number of generators also doesn't make sense, because it doesn't apply to both sides of the game. If killers aren't supposed to do things at 5 gens, then survivors shouldn't be supposed to do certain things at 0 hooks.
Then maybe total progress done across all gens instead of completed gens? So gens can't be just left at 99% to avoid turning off the penalty.

@ThatRyanB said:
I can understand your frustration here. Now, you mention not being interested in the version that was on the PTB. Is there something specific that you would find useful to help with tunneling and slugging?
What if the tunneling/slugging penalties were tied to the number of gens completed? Hard tunneling and slugging is most problematic for the early game, but once it's mid/late game the killer might be forced to rely on those tatics for a chance to make a comeback. At 5 /4 gens the penalty is active and there's a chance to punish the killer if they want to tunnel someone out or slug everyone. When 2 gens are left it's turned off maybe 3(?) so the killer can have a chance for a comeback without forcing a lose-lose situation on them in the survivor's favor.
-
They did quickly said the remote gen repair will only last for a short time. They didn't say exactly how long, but i'm gonna guess 5 seconds.
-
FNaF was an overall success and this happens with every single update with player count going up and down. This is a normal thing for every single video game out there it's not just DBD.

Why should they do this? Play by the rules and stop taking unintended shortcuts. On PTB killers still just tried to exploit the new mechanics instead of adjusting their gampleay according to the intended gameplay. Thats the actual issue: killer mindset is twisted.
Of course killers would do what they can to work around the system considering how punishing it was for them. Don't forget survivors turned the whole punishment system into a weapon they can and will exploit the hell out of it to intentionally punish killers or force them into making a bad choice that will only work in survivors favor.
Killers are suppose to kill survivors how it's done doesn't matter to much. Be like forcing a cartoon/movie villain to play by the rules to the point they can't be villains anymore.

How much help do survivors need? Since when have we had ANY help until the coming update? Survivor perks and maps have been getting nerfed for a while now. Pretty much every map is 3/4 the size they were.
Survivors are getting a lot of extra pallets and some tiles on several maps to reduce dead zones this update.
-
Maybe cause of the higher PoV since you are being held up above the ground?
-
When the connection crashes the game can't tell if it was a legit internet crash or simply pulling the plug so it's the game has to treat all of it like an intentional d/c. So it might be best to wait until your network is working properly before playing any online game.
-
Otz posted a recent vid during the last week explaining the problem of what your saying calling out the same problem. Think it was the Demo add on video i don't remember the exact name of the vid.
Any killer could have like maybe 3 add ons that are good and rest are just straight up bad so of course those 3 add ons will be mostly picked. Nerfing the few good add ons will just make things worse for everyone instead of making all the other trash add ons worth using.
-
Devour Hope on the Swamp map locating the bones is the hardest thing on that map. Even with Small Game it's hard finding them.
On one of the car wreckers map against a Huntress with old Undying and forget the other Hex, but it's the one that reveals everyone's aura when a Hex is broken. I had small game or the Jill perk and I was running around breaking that one Hex perk over and over and over and over and the last one. I gave the Huntress aura hacks for so long my team was getting destroyed. I bet she was intentionally ignoring me cause of what I was doing. Sure lost the game but it was so worth lol.

Meh, liked the other ones we got better.

The ranks just reset today. I can't exactly hop into an Iri game and show you that it's the same results. The only difference is that I don't play with the same handicaps. I still don't tunnel or camp. I slug when I need to still get the eight hooks. I use Tier III. The only real difference is that there's less time spent waiting at the end for survivors to finish generators. And sometimes I do lose. We all do. Sometimes I lose a gold match. That's okay. That doesn't mean I am going to resort to cheap tactics to secure the dub. I'd rather lose than force someone to spectate nearly the entire match.
I feel like the point is being lost. I'm advocating that the new changes were fine. If I suck and I still do just fine with the changes, then doesn't that mean anyone else, whether they suck or not, would also be fine with the changes? I'm just saying it's too easy to win using scummy tactics, people will always use those tactics, and so changes have to be made for a quality of life improvement for the survivors that should have been rectified years ago. It's impossible to expect everyone to just play nice so systems that force them to have to be put in. Until those are pushed to live, it's okay to play with the goal of everyone having fun rather than just yourself. You can still kill. You can still get a 4K. Go try it out right now. Just one match. See how well you do. You got nothing to lose by giving it a try.
The ranks or grades which ever you like to call them i just don't ever see them as an indicator of someone's skill. it only reflects how much time you've played within a month and doesn't reflect what your actual skill or MMR is. I play Wraith and Billy that I've rarely played i can tell I'm playing against babies while my the killer's that I do often play Xeno, Artist, Knight and SpringTrap i can clearly tell I'm against much more efficient survivors that I get steam rolled myself sometimes. Every killer has their own separate invisible MMR we can never see.
I find games far more fun myself without slugging or tunneling for both sides and I'm all for the anti-tunnel/slug being added into the game as well, but they need to be done very carefully so it can't be abused or weaponized by one side of the other.
Also I'm at work right now only get maybe a few hrs of DBD per week. So my highest grade that I might get would be silver. Never really payed attention to the grades of other players.
-
I've done that myself getting 8 hooks and just letting them escape. Ive only played Wriath as a pacifists 8 hooks 0 zero kills and let them escape and it tanks your MMR for that killer to the point that your only playing against baby survivors and even just going for the 8 hooks only it's extremely easy so killing them is no effort. So if course it'll be too easy to get 4ks every game of you only play against babies.
-
Say they did work properly in 2v8 I really don't think they'll be any good. Moment Victor finishes a pounce either at a survivor or a miss he's gonna get kicked since there's even more survivors around.
-
What if they just simply increase the number of perks slots to 5 or 6. We got so many perks now and still restricted to only 4 perks we can bring.
-
Can always try to get better at looping and hope the others are slamming gens or it's a macro fail on the survivor team. Almost forgot survivors be getting even more pallets to work with next update.

It's always the "Survivors need to get gud" speech from Killer mains. Meanwhile they're allowed to skyrocket themselves into the high MMR brackets with their no-skill playstyle and then complain about the "bully SWF squads" that they lack the skill to face.
I always seen it both ways one side telling the other to get good. No skill play style as in the hard tunneling and slugging? It's up to the survivors macro skill to punish the killer if the killer does steam role then the survivors were playing poorly and everyone's MMR get adjusted then it's up to the killer to get good when they start facing more efficient survivors. I'm in favor of an anti-slug/tunnel mechanics to punish killers but this wasn't it. It needs further adjustment so it doesn't punish every killer player and survivors cant weaponize it in their favor.
-
Swear survivor players can be the most stubborn and delusional. The Game is like a coin can't just ignore one side. Loud minority crying doom? Every single DBD content creator on YouTube (that i could find) agreed these changes were bad and can't go live since it's too punishing for ALL killer players not just the worst killers that should be punished and easily weaponized by SFW.
If the changes did went through all the killer players would likely quit and have would be dead just like Death Garden and VHS since those games have the survivors way too much to fight back against the killer.
Have ever tried just getting good yourself as a survivor and improve your looping and macro? I play both roles nearly 50/50 and my survivor games to often i see my team mates not doing gens or way too altruistic throwing the game.
-
Likely whiny survivor only mains that just want to put the killers on a tight leash and force them to play by the survivor rule book regardless how damaging it would've been for the game.

you don't destroy one side so the other has more fun.
But that's what they did. That's why no one wants to play Survivor and why the queue times are broken. That's what they should be trying to fix.
I'm not saying they did it intentionally, but they are GOING to have to take away from killers to balance the game. If you don't like that, then we know where you stand on balance
Most of us can agree that the tunneling and slugging problems needs to be addressed they need to be very careful about it so it only affects the problem players and not literally everyone or else there's a very real risk of this game ending up dead just like Death Garden, VHS and the Texas Chainsaw game where the survivors in those games had far too much power to abuse it got to the point NOBODY wanted to play the killer role.
-
Watched that video yesterday and agreed to what he said. Never heard him so upset or aggressive before.

honey that's your problem not to use aura reading perks at all don't blame it on the survivors when u are out right refusing to put on a perk that solves your problem and gives u more pressure BBQ is all u need it just a joke be be like i can't find anyone
I hardly use any aura reading perks cause i can find survivors just fine without it mostly i use other unconventional perks to locate survivors like Surveillance and Spies from the Shadow for the slower killers and Lethal Pursuer + one other aura reading perk for high mobility killer. BBQ isn't that good either we've had it for years and survivor players already know full well how to counter it by either hiding in a locker or behind a gen. Slow killers that don't really have any mobility can't really benefit from it so only killers like Nurse, Billy, Ghoul, Blight, Wesker etc with high free mobility can benefit the most from it.
-
I'm glad this didn't went through it was going to do far more damage than intended. Wasn't going to affect just the problem hard tunneling at 4 or 5 gens when it was most problematic instead it would've affected everything across the board forcing every single killer to play as if they're walking around Lego pieces. The anti-slug/tunnel also could easily be weaponized by the survivor players.
- Trap killers are the weakest in the game, they can't be picky who they chase and it's the survivors fault for triggering any traps.
- 2 survivors on death hook are being aggressive taunting the killer and the other 2 have no hooks and playing like rats being very hard to find. What the hell is the killer suppose to do when the killer is being taunted by the 2 on death hook?
- What if 3 survivors are being the biggest rats not taking chases and only one survivor is being found? Can't blame the killer for tunneling that one person out when it's the survivors fault that happened.
- Base kit Tenacity was stupid. Killers that has a mean to down survivors from a long range like Huntress, Artist, Knight, Twins, etc would easily lose the person they downed and maps with a lot of tall grass like Dead Dog Saloon they're not ever going to find them.
- Immunity to killer instinct also stupid as it would allow the survivor to hard counter certain killer powers with ZERO risk.
- May as well delete Sadako and Pig with how their kits work.
Yeah i've would've completely quit the killer role if the changes went through it would've feel miserable being forced to play by the survivor rule book. Then survivor mains would be at fault wondering why the que times are so much longer.

What thing?
And I dont understand the VHS comparison. The teens had weapons and could actively fight the monster. The teens had a means of reviving each other. Both things that absolutely made monster feel bad, but both are things DBD lacks. Also his opinion on why VHS failed is simply that - his opinion. I've also seen plenty of former players blame the devs for dragging the beta on for so long to the point where the experience gap between beta players and new players created a massive imbalance.
Thinking it's mostly due that the teens had to much power to fight against the monster to the point the monster role no longer felt like monster role and the teens were the hunters. It got to the point all the monster players quit.
This update is a massive buff for survivors and the same time punishing killers for just doing their objective. Killer role won't be feared anymore and good survivors would have a lot more tools to abuse. The anti slug is mostly good with a few more tweaks needed. The anti tunnel needs heavy changes to it only affects the early game when tunneling is a problem and not late game when it becomes a more viable option that the killer needs.
Give survivors to much to fight back against the killer's and chances are the killer players will likely leave.
-
This new killer is a hybrid between Plague and Twins. Infect first then chase with head.
-
Is there another source other than tik tok?
-
This is the only change I'm not liking. It only benefits survivors and killers that are behind late game say only 1 or 2 gens left at that point someone needs to get tunneled out, but this new system can put killers into a lose-lose situation with no chance for a comeback.
-
Sadako got hit the hardest this patch with the anti tunnel stuff if someone been killed before 6 hooks. I don't play her, but isn't it fairly common for her to get a condemn kill before 6 hooks? This would be a rather big nerf to her removing her ability to regress gens with how her kit works.
-
This change also likely just make killers that are behind into a lose-lose situation. Let's say 2 gens are left and killer only has 1 or 2 hooks. That situation the killer needs to tunnel someone out but then the killer gonna get punished by this new system so the killer is screwed and will lose the match either way with no chance of a comeback.
-
Plenty of survivors to pick from never did completed the game, but I still remember the red head chick. No idea what Dino would be used don't think there's really any Dino that really stands out enough that people would recognize where it's from other than the Indo Raptor from Jurassic World.
-
I'm probably in the minority here, but I think he's fine as is in 2v8. If Legion is in so many 2v8 games then he's one of the more popular killers to play as that many killer players enjoy. He's mostly a support killer that doesn't get many downs, with 8 survivors in the match healing others is fast and I've yet to see a game with a Legion get more 3 kills.
-
Better to prioritize bug fixing and improvements to what we have already instead of adding in new stuff considering they some how always break something when adding new features in.
Already got the new play while you wait for killer que and that completely broke the game.

What's Junji Ito? I don't recognize the name and it's in DBD.

Never gonna happen when we have Skull Merchant being left in a gutted state for a year
-
The only necromorph that really stands out through could be a killer would be the Ubermorph from Dead Space 2 since it's so unique compared to the countless others. Maybe the Regenerator from DS1 remake. Be awesome to bring Dead Space to DBD.

We still have absolutely no idea what BHVR wants the fog vials to do.
We’ve shown screenshots where the fog was super easy to see through. We’ve shown screenshots where the fog was impossible to see through. But BHVR refuses to tell us which screenshots are intended, and which are bugged.
As in, we’ve literally got zero feedback on whether or not the “I can easily see through the fog” screenshots are bugged or intended.
That's an weird issue that needs to be fixed since it's different depending on the map. Some maps the smoke is very easy to see through it while other maps it's thick enough that can't even see the wall in front on you.

Because people don't have time to waste
if time is so precious that you can't wait a few seconds should you really be playing a video game then?
-
I always hated about the abandon feature the instant the survivor is down they can abandon the match to save a few seconds. Meanwhile the killer is forced to wait while survivors can sit at the gates and tea bag. Sure can force them out, but why the hell should I feed their ego. If the gates are open the killer should have the option to abandon as well. I don't know where any survivors are at, no one on hook I have zero pressure just let the killer abandon match at that point. Feels hypocritical for one side to be allowed to abandon the instant they feel like it while the other forced to wait it out.
If anything put a 30 second timer before the abandon feature is available if the killer isn't hooking anyone and everyone is slugged.

IImmediately disable it considering how toxic the DBD community is.

Hey i know its a long shot but would you be okay with sending this suggestion further to the team?
So helldivers has a similar event always going around that can be viewed and monitored in real time and it makes it feel wholesome for community to track data in real time in game for the rewards, i think BP reward needs to be way larger than it is to motivate players to conjoin as one to complete it as an event.
And make it a monthly event hunt
BHVR could learn from Hell Divers. DBD having one of the most toxic communities while HD from what I've seen has one of the best communities. About 400hrs in and I've not seen one toxic player which is surprising and DBD it's almost a daily thing that I just keep chat off. Not sure if it's possible since these are 2 completely games DBD is a "Us vs Them" and HD everyone is on the same page fighting for the same goal.

I totally hear the frustration here and know I personally can't change how these nerfs feel for you, but I do want to make sure the feedback I'm bringing back to the team is as specific as possible and as representative of your experiences in the game as possible. With that, it makes it easier to advocate for changes.
If you don't mind me pulling this back a step to dig into the details, I'd like to ask two specific questions:
1. Of the two recent nerfs to Fog Vials (reduced opacity; max 2 charges), do you feel that one of these in particular pushed the item from feeling viable to feeling like it's not worth using? If so, which was it?
2. If you could make one specific change to Fog Vials that'd push them towards being an item you'd enjoy using, what would it be?
I hear the more general feedback (and rest assured, it's being collected and shared with the team), but if there are specific facets of the recent nerfs that felt most impactful, I want to make sure I'm giving them my particular attention. That, and things that could make Fog Vials feel better for you (like the great suggestions of increasing the total charges a little more).- Revert the nerfs to the opacity.
- Increase the number of charges it has. Brown has 3 charges, green 4, blue 5, iri 6 charges and an add-on that increases charges by 1
- OR
- Revert it back to time cooldown, but it gains charges base on player action like flash bangs or that other perk I forget, gain charges towers the item for doing gens or hiding in the killer's TR for X seconds.
- Fix the fog density across all maps. Some maps like the walking dead map it's useless and can clearly see through the smoke while other maps like dead dog saloon it's very dense and can't see through it.
-
@ThatRyanB said:
Hey folks. I totally hear your concerns here, but also want to give some background. Balancing is an iterative process that takes time to find a sweet spot, and this is very much another step in that process. To quote one of my favourite fantasy series', "journey before destination".
We 100% want to hear your feedback once you get a chance to play a few Trials with this new change, so please let us know how it's feeling. We're here to grab that feedback and make sure the team is made aware.
Sorry, but I'm calling total bull on that. Devs were quick to harshly nerf something to the point where no one will ever use it again. Actions speak louder than words and seems too often feedback is ignored and thrown out even. The latest DBD/WTD stream having DDoS attacks Otz knew the solution to it everyone was saying it and that was ignored and thrown out. Changes takes an unacceptably too long with no information what's being done. The knotted rope add-on that Houndmaster has and Skull Merchant being intentionally left in a gutted state for a year. No one can or likely will ever be able to provide proper feedback due to no one ever using them when their in such a useless state.
-
BHVR is so full of empty words they just can't be trusted anymore. They say one thing, but almost every time their actions goes against their own words and/or the interest of the players.
- Otz giving a solution to the DDoS attacks, gets dismissed.
- Refusing to kill switch perks that's giving one side a huge unfair advantage and then giving a horrible response.
- Takes them literally years to rework problematic killers or add-ons.
- Bugs are left in the game for years without ever getting fixed.
- Push through with changes that no one wants unless there's overwhelming backlash.
Certain there's more examples, but that's all I can think of now.
-
Labor of Love 2025!
Don't even bother….
-
The 2% buff to the yellow is barely noticeable, but what is very noticeable is that the yellow activates a lot faster so every clown freely spam them out now.
Wasn't Skull Merchant complain about being too easy and free hits? Not counting the 3 gen hostage since that's no longer works. Now we got Clown and Ghoul that's when more oppressive than SM back in her 2.0 state. Can't really change them unless Clown is reverted back to how he was before and Ghoul would be a heavy rework.
Would gladly have 2.0 SM back if it meant reverting Clown and fixing Ghoul.
-
Skull Merchant reverted back to her 2.0 state.
-
I started playing haste clown until he's either changed or they fix Skull Merchant. I'll switch to Ghoul also one I figure him out never really played him yet. Even changed my steam name make the survivors really question themselves.
Clown/Ghoul or 2.0 Skull Merchant
I'm still upset they're leaving her in such a horrible state for a year.
-
It's more or less how consistent they are with getting 4ks and trying to grade every killer if all players played at an equal high level. You'll get very different results if it was for low MMR players. Everyone got their own opinions. Otz seems to have the most reasonable tier list.
-
Franklin demise also got hit with a nerf so items don't lose charges anymore so there's no need to worry about losing your item anymore before you get a chance to use it.
-
Think they should've made it one or the other. Instead of these extra nerfs with limited uses. Maybe it should've been unlimited uses with nerfs going through OR no nerfs but have it be limited uses not both.
