  • He won't work as a killer and he'll be a bad survivor. He's got way too much going on with him when he's does nothing but rip and tear demons and other horrors.

  • I forgot there was an official DBD stat tracker. I remember sending a request, but never gotten a response.

  • To play against a strong Nurse or Ghoul player as matches tend to be very one sided.

To play as Skull Merchant ever since they gutted her power so much you may be better off never using her drones and just be pure M1 only.

  • Kinda hard to think of one when he's the strongest being from Star Wars that he can effortlessly use the force to grab a large space ship and pull it back to him like it's just another Tuesday.

Whatever I do try to think of something it'll be a very underwhelming version of him that just feel wrong. Does he even have anything in his arsenal that's not an instant kill against civilians?

  • I've always been seeing people state that the devs should just fix the "issues" with the game so survivors would stop killing themselves on hook to go next yet I don't think I've once seen anyone suggest how. This is not a 1v1 game or a team game with both sides having equal players is an asymmetrical game that's almost impossible to balance. How much more hands holding mechanics we have to give to satisfy the survivor players before it destroys the killer player experience? It'll risk making this game end up like Death Garden where they tried to balance it for the high ranking players, but it completely destroyed balance for the casual players.

  • No, the Star Wars franchise isn't even horror despite Darth Vader being a famous character he won't fit well in with DBD. Licensed Killers have to be from a primarily horror franchise to make sense. For survivors I'm more alright since they are suppose to be just everyday citizens.

  • SpringTrap and Huntress two rabbits side by side throwing axes around the map.

  • @Albanactus said:

I just asked my son about the killer's axe, he is a FNaF obsessive and he says it has nothing to do with the lore and was really confused by it. Creatively an axe is not that bad an idea generally, but why on this killer? I wonder if they have made a big mistake with this, you surely can't just introduce random stuff, that's disrespectful to the FNaF fanbase and is surely a big gamble, for what reason? They want FNaF players to come across. How would Halloween fans feel if Mikey had a chainsaw, or Nightmare fans if Freddie had a machine gun or a Rambo knife?! BHVR must have some quality control person who understands this kind of thing, they've got a lot of money at stake, yet they've OKed it. Is this the staff purge biting them back again?

SpringTrap shares the same problem as Pyramid Head. Neither of them has shown to use anything really from their respective games so DBD has to create something original yet still faithful to what they would use. I always expected he would use a fire axe, but was rather surprised how he uses it.

The fire axe made it's first big appearance in a YouTube video by "Living Tombstone" a FNAF3 music animation video that William uses to destroy the 4 animatronics. Its been mostly a fan concept as a choice of weapon he would use and Scott just went with it since he really enjoyed the fan made works. He's also been trapped inside a burning building 3 times so a fire axe be a great v option as a weapon and a tool if he gets trapped again.

  • I forgot that thing even existed. Likely never used and no one knew what it was even for.

  • Yeah he's a low S rank killer for sure. He has insane mobility that rivals Blight and his first hit can't down, but it's almost free. As if Blight and Legion had a child.

  • Maybe a foxy skin for Blight since he's missing from the FNAF map with only his plushie being found.

Maybe Scrap Baby or Molten Freddy.

so what's the obsession with a spider killer?

Simple, Spiders have always been nightmare fuel for people. Real question is how to get a spider killer to work in DBD.

  • All his add ons are rather good and viable in some way changing his power a bit except for Freddy's Hat that doubles the axe weight.

Kinda wished they would go back and redo some other killers add ons like Artist and Pyramid Head that might have 1-3 valid add ons and the rest being worthless.

  • @jayoshi said:

I'm worried about killers tunneling out a certain player and the system seeing it as that person running to the killer and "giving up". How will it know the difference?

I'm bettng it's gonna be tied to the chase system and player movement and action. If the survivor has a some chase time they should be cleared even if they're getting hard tunneled compared to a survivor that has very little or no chase time.

  • Easily mistaken SpringTrap being our first killer that's both 115% move speed without the axe, but move at 110% when he has the axe on him.

Nintendo often change course if things don’t work out at first.

Considering how greedy they are and their lawsuit team bigger than their game development team they take 3 steps back then 2 steps forward after they stepped in crap.

  • I have no issues with SpringTrap chase theme unlike the obnoxiously loud sirens going off non stop that xeno had or the washing machine recording that a few killers had.

  • While it's never been canon that SpringTrap has used any weapon in his lore there's a lot of fan work that has him using a fire axe as a weapon. Makes sense as well with his character considering he's been trapped inside a burning building 3 times.

  • @Langweilig said:

Has someone tested map offerings and can tell me how good they are now?

it's a flat 20% chance now and they don't stack if multiple players bring in the same map offering.

  • The changes to Artist add-ons are poorly thought out. It's like you guys just look at a number spread sheet and see and few add-on being picked far more than other and nerf them without looking at to why they're being picked. Some killers did had a few add-ons that were very strong that needed nerf and having some good add-ons while other killers like Artist and Pyramid Head have a lot of add-ons that just feels useless and number changes won't increase their pick rates without changing how the add-on works. SpringTrap the first killer i know of that all of his add-ons are viable unlike Artist that only has like 3 viable add-ons to use.

The "Go Next" prevention is horrible. You're trying to keep people in matches they don't wanna be in without even trying to address why they don't wanna be in those matches. Do you think this is gonna improve Solo Q? If someone doesn't wanna play the match, they won't play it no matter what. You're just gonna make players more and more frustrated by forcing them to play out matches when the whole point of DBD is that it's a video game and not a job. A lot of veteran survivors will play this game less and less or even just quit, myself included. It's not too late to revert these changes.

Disagree. It's impossible to fix peoples attitude towards anything they don't like unless they're willing to learn from it. Didn't like the killer, map, found first, downed too fast, team hasn't touched a gen = go next and ruins the game for the other players. Players will always find something they don't like and complain about it and I doubt it's something that's even possible for the devs to fix on their end without risking destroying the games balance.

  • a strong yet fair killer for both sides with actually good add-ons that are almost all useable.

  • SpringTrap hasn't shown anything really in any of the FNAF games. So most of his power has to be original, But still faithful to the character like Pyramid Head. Having a fire axe does Mahe a lot sense he would use since he's been trapped inside a burning building 3 times.

  • A considerable amount of space on the screen? That's nothing compared to the weapon Huntress and Wraith use to have when their weapons covered HALF the screen.

  • There was some rather big changed for Xeno on a PTB few months ago that made her far worse making it much easier to burn her out of power. Lot of backlash so they rolled all the changes back. Can't remember all the changes that did happened. Flame charges to be burned increased from 100 to 125 and think there was a few add on changes.

  • That's something I always hated. Survivors can freely abandon the match the moment they're all slugged before the killer can even have a chance to start putting them on hooks yet killers can't do anything when the survivors are sitting at the gate tea bagging. Sure can just force them out, but why the hell should I let them rub it in my face?

  • For me I say false. Watching games that I most likely know the outcome or is a one side stomp is predictable and not exciting to watch. Best games I've enjoyed watching is when it's close for both sides that you don't know whose going to come out on top and win the match.

  • That's a good question.

  • Yeah that's a big complaint I have myself. Playing against bots that always hard counter your power or shutting it down completely makes learning a new killer in a custom match miserable.

  • Something I never liked the moment all survivors are downed and slugged they have the option to immediately abandon. Should have a 10-30 grace period before they can abandon with the timer getting reset when someone gets put on a hook.

  • PTB is steam only and only play on PTB when it is open. There's no PTB going on at the moment.

Click on DBD → click on the little gear icon on the right → properties → Beta tab

  • PTB should be the 27th. Chapter should be out on anniversary day in June.

Im still wondering if they are adding any of the other animatronics like bonnie/freddy/chica/foxy to play as in some way. Would scott be ok with them being skins for springtrap? Or is he really that different from them?

Not at all they'll only appear as map props as seen from the screen shots. Those 4 are victims of SpringTrap they were just innocent children with some confusion going on.

Been said in the stream there is some cosmetics, but the only one shared is the legendary skin for SpringTrap. Others maybe could be a night guard outfit for a few current original survivors like Dwight or a animatronic skin after sister location like scrap baby or molten Freddy.

  • Maps with changing elevations hurts her power not much you can do other than try to be on the same level. Swamp map to me feels like her worst map since the elevation is all over the place.

BBQ and Dead Man's Switch (think that's what it was called) her 2 best perks for sniping across map. With Black Ink add on to make her birds not highlight themselves while in flight.

  • Maybe gotta remember though he's inside a large animatronic suit without the head piece so his head will look small compared to the rest of the body.

Edit: should've looked at both not just the top. Looking at both of them the DBD version is noticeably a larger suit compared to the movie version.

  • I'm with the nerfs may not like it but being that strong with such a low skill floor to play him is never a good thing. Survivors at least now have a window to get to another loop with out him jumping on top of you before you have a chance to get anywhere.

Can't even compare him to Legion. Sure Legion can quick vault over pallets but only while in their power, can't down while in power and then the fatigue that slows them. Ghoul had a very short fatigue if he even had one and could M1 before you can even loop around the pallet.

  • There also that fisherman DeathSlinger gun years ago that had a huge meter gage right on top of the gun so v you couldn't see anything when you were aiming down the sights. They did remove the part some time later.

  • Most likely no. The original animatronics won't be playable characters or skins for any killer as it won't suit anybody. The anniversary steam showcased some snapshots of Freddy, Bonnie and Chica on stage as environmental props only that would likely play a show after repairing the main gen.

Foxy wasn't shown anywhere. One of two things a skin, but highly doubt it or he's located else where in the building.

  • Wasn't losing stacks when using PWYF?

  • Anyone have a before and after pic? I'm probably one of the few people that never notices a difference until I see a side by side comparison.

  • That would be great to have. Got like 18 million BPs for the FNAF chapter and might take an hour or 2 for me to go through all that.

  • That's a good point. Should be a fair nerf for Blight, but not Legion since they can't down with their power.

Feels similar for why Wesker had a massive TR because of his mobility. Yet Blight and Billy has even better mobility took them like what 2 years until those 2 got a 40 meter TR.

  • I've never had a problem with SM before her nerfs she was rather easy to deal with. Seems like too many people refused to learn how to play vs her as i've seen myself as and against SM people would just run through the beams carelessly and get tagged when she's not even close.

She's boring? That's kinda the curse of being a trap killer they don't exactly have a power themselves it's all in their traps you need to be aware of their location and your surroundings to avoid getting downed. We only got 3 killers that are traps and they are rarely seen. Trapper too easy to shut down, Hag can't chase and SM drones are very obvious.

Isn't it "go next prevention" right at the QoL changes?

It's in there somewhere, but we still gonna to wait for its release and i don't even remember when it's coming.

This seems awesome! I absolutely love this two-phased attack process as this new power seems incredibly fun to play as and against!!! As a skull merchant player & as a survivor player, I am really looking forward to seeing this implemented! 10/10 This version seems much more interactive and refined than any previous form of her power as-well as the previous design preview.

As far as suggestions, I am curious as to how flying the drones will feel. It shouldn't feel too sluggish or clunky. Real drones are very sensitive and have a sort of exponential acceleration when changing directions! I don't think it should feel quite as sensitive as real drones but I reckon the devs & designers should get a feel for flying real drones to help with the drone flying perspective!

I also think that if the drones were flown in third person it would Improve handling, prevent crashes, and align more with the recon aspect of the drones. I imagine it would be very difficult to see when flying the drones unless you are in third person. This could also make the drones more oppressive than they should be and make counterplay too difficult so it would need to be tested to some degree but I think it might be worth considering!

Make sure the skull merchant and the drones make a noise before firing her dart and dashing to smash to alert survivors who might not see her or the drone! You know how to do this ya'll done it plenty times before, this is more of a friendly reminder!

If I think of anything else I'll leave another comment. If you read this I hope you are having a lovely day and I sincerely thank you for reading what I have to say! :3 Love you <3

No it's not a good thing. The actively controlling her drones and looking through them like how Singularity is able to will potentially make her a 3 gen monster again like her first version. Can't disable the drone because she will know and replace it, ignore it it'll crash into you and your forced to leave the area to remove the clawtrap before she shoots you with the EMP dart and the drone gets replaced. ClawTraps will be either useless or impossible to take off during chase since it'll work similar to mending.

There are too many different things that are going on with this new version that will demand very fine tuning to get it right or it's gonna be either useless or overpowered potentially making her worse than before. Might be best just to revert her back to 2.0 with a few tweaks, remove the haste/hinder and let her have the drone buddy.

  • Ghoul and SM can't be compared.

1.0 SM was hated cause she could easily hold a 3 gen setup for unacceptably long times and the so called free hits from her which I thought was crap.

Legion has to run up to you could juke or pallet stun him so there's counter play there. SM there's the very obvious drones scanning the area tagged 3 times get injured. Can easily avoid the drones by not moving for a moment or crouching or avoiding the beams. She's was easy to deal with and I've seen a lot of players just being careless running into them and complain about it when there plenty of counter play.

And there's Ghoul all he needs is line of sight with very little counter play that's available other than breaking line of sight. Haven't found a means of properly dealing with him so can't say much.

  • The Unknown has quite a interesting story to it. It's nothing but conflicting theories, rumors and old folk tale making it's lore or whatever it is whatever we want to believe it to be.

  • They did mention well be keeping the 5 million cap for now until the bulk spending comes for further testing and final results.

  • One thing I forgot about in my first post here was SM keeping the passive scanning from the drones. Actively control the drone yourself to place a claw trap or let the passive beams do it instead. Why there 2 completely different powers that gives the same results, wouldn't that create a conflict?

The kit overall seems a bit better, but actively controlling the drones part should really stay out of the kit as it will give SM the potential to be a 3 gen monster again.

In addition to the conversation going on in this thread (which we're closely following - thanks for being so in-depth with your thoughts!), I wanted to pose two other questions:

    1. What do you feel is the most complex-to-understand aspect of this Killer's gameplay flow here?

    2. What would YOU name the Drone Buddy? 👀

    My thoughts.

    1. There's a Lack of clarity or visible information of what's going on exactly. Haste and Hinder would be changing on the fly with no tell to the survivor. Her power should be a bit more telegraphed of what's going on exactly. Old Spirit had the same problem when she gave literally zero information for survivors to work with so there was no counter play against her until she got the directional audio que put into her phase walking.
    2. "Head shot" Any shooter games we always try to aim for the head, but when the head shoots back....
  • No matter what changes you make it's gonna dissapoint one side or the other. Either disappoint the thousands of survivors that always have a burning hatred towards her or disappoint and lose what few SM players there is left.
