I like Hopper but Munson was easily the best character in the latest season, possibly in the whole series for me.
-
Deathslinger is in a similar boat to Demogorgon. They both benefit and become relevant because of one perk, STBFL. Playing slinger with STBFL is like night and day. You can spear someone, reload, and spear them again before they can reach anything. He is very close to being my favorite killer, but he definitely feels weak compared to what some other killers can do with addons.
-
If should block gens for every unique hook, getting stronger for each new unique hook. First hook is 10, second is 20, third is 30. The last hook wouldn't do anything. If it is still weak just adjust the numbers.
-
Both useless and overpowered addons are equally problematic, I would say the overpowered ones are more problematic.

You could already do that now though. Without finding out your MMR level. We know that the only thing that MMR takes into account are escapes, so you can theoretically do very well in a match to get your pips but still let yourself die in the match. Your MMR will go lower.
Except I have a tinfoil hat theory that you lose less or no MMR at rank1. I have done a couple of experiments and the basic outcome is that you can die for 2 weeks straight and the games feel exactly the same.
-
I could tell you how I would abuse it if I was able to see my own MMR. After I reached rank 1 every month, I would stop escaping until I found the "sweet spot" where I could juice killers but my teammates weren't too bad.
-
Hotter take: Nurse players are still going to use the perk. All the nerf did was kill it for just about every other killer.

I would encourage you to read my post more carefully. I know that some never stopped. I said that in the post.
The outlier these days is a killer that uses no regression perks, I find.
-
Killers are already running 4 regression perks though.

Just like how the entire community thought Self Care was garbage and thats just because 99% of people were using it incorrectly.
Even nowadays its still a pretty decent perk, its just people cant help themselves to heal every chance they get.
I mean it was bad before the recent nerf, how do you use it incorrectly? You mean like trying to self care when people can heal you? That's just silly.
Self care is without question a killer perk. Any perk that lets you see other survivors to heal you is 10 times better than running self care.
-
I swear, people that think prove thyself should be nerfed, are the same killers running 4 gen regression perks. They get upset because they never had a chance to kick the gen xD.
-
Buff nurse, take away her ability to use perks, fixed.

yeah but you see, DS activates for 60 seconds. So in order to add it as a base kit, probably DS must be reduced also to 25 seconds or something. Otherwise I don't mind if they would replace basekit BT with DS.
So you would make it so that for 20-30s after being unhooked, if you are downed you have DS activated until the killer picks you up, or you stand back up. This would stop the killer from being able to just slug you, and then just proxy you till they could pick you up. They would be forced to either eat the DS or go for someone else.
In a world where they did this, I would also have it so you don't have collision during this time, to prevent people from body blocking during the timer. If you had collision people would just body block for their teammates and then just run unbreakable to get back up.

propose a change then. in your opinion 5 seconds would make a huge difference for DS?
A 5 second DS would do a lot more than a 10 seconds baseline BT. I would also rather have a baseline DS over a baseline BT.

That's why they add basekit BT, right? So what is the problem then?
Okay you read what I said though right, they are auto hitting people off the hook. How is a another 5 seconds going to change that? They are respecting OTR by hitting you off hook, 5 extra seconds of baseline BT literally changes nothing.

yeah I agree. I didn't even play those killers, I sorta liked Thana as some sort of progressive slowdown depending how good I am at finding and harming separate survivors. Also it was an incentive for killers to not tunnel one person only, so yeah. If they wanted to nerf it probably they should have made it like it only activates on survivors which are harmed by basic attack or something. The way sloppy butcher, or Franklins work. Or change those flat percentages a bit.
DS wasn't very good in the past either in my opinion. Killers didn't pick them up right away, just chased around others or kicked some gens until the timer on the DS wore off.
See that's where you almost had it right. Killers slugging gave teams the ability to save that person being tunneled. DS was good because killers feared it. Now killers fear nothing, they auto hit off hook and chase you down for one health state, it is free real estate to tunnel people right now.

well everyone thinks that Thanatophobia is garbage right now also, that doesn't stop adjustments when they are needed
Everyone thought thana was busted on 2 killers, just because the change was bad doesn't mean the perk was busted.

If youre lasting as long as a juicy fruit against every killer after a DS stun, thats a skill issue.
Nurse or Blight I understand, maybe even Spirit. But anyone else? Nah
Just about the entire community thinks DS is garbage right now.

I mean with the new changes coming to being unhooked, you have absolutely no excuse to be in a dead zone. 44m of distance from the hook is PLENTY. Thats not even counting the extra little bit of distance youll get from DS
The perk is fine
LOL, imagine thinking 5 more seconds of a useless mechanic makes it not useless.

@Shroompy said:

Yeah Im aware its supposed to hurt killers. But it should hurt all killers equally, which it does currently.
Before you would take the stun as Nurse, Blight or any other killer who can deal with distance easily and be on top of a Survivor immediately, cant really say the same for Trapper or Pig which really dont need anything else going against them
Okay but, we live in a world where they refuse to tune perks on a killer by killer basis. So you either make the perk work against all killers or against none, and they choose non, shocker.
-
You can't add exceptions in a system like DC penalties because people will abuse it.
-
@Shroompy said:
because it just hurt the killers who didnt need to be hurt by it the most like Trapper, Pig, etc. While barely having an effect on high mobility killers like Nurse or Blight.
I think it should go to 4 seconds for a nice middle ground
It is suppose to hurt killers for tunneling. If the perk doesn't hurt the killer than what was the point of running it. Even before the change I got value out of DS only 10% of the time. The idea that you had DS was more powerful than the perk itself. We have gotten to a point where DS is so irrelevant people tunnel because they know you have nothing.
-
Watch videos of other people playing the game. Learning how to play DBD is pretty unique, you can't really just pick it up and have success. I would also recommend playing survivor first because it will teach you about the movement patterns of survivors. If you play the game fresh as killer you are going to have to go through a lot of games where you never down or hook anyone before you start to learn anything.
Watch videos, and play survivor, that is your best way to get better at the game.

I'm willing to sacrifice myself to save someone I don't know. Is that really a bad thing?
No I do it too if I don't care about ranking up or have already reach rank 1. After the patch however usually when you go for basement saves in the end game, not only do you fail at saving that person, the killer usually gets an extra body to hook.
-
@Marc_123 said:
If somebody saved or protected me during the match i sometimes try to unhook and die for him/her no matter what.
I do that at times too, if they risked themselves to unhook me. But, I feel like if you get yourself hooked in the basement in the end game, that's wrong place wrong time.
-
I have found that the more liberal I am with pallets the more likely I am to escape. Where as the more greedy I get with pallets the more likely I am to die. I think if everyone on your team prioritized throwing pallets over getting hit you would win a lot more games.
Just something I thought of the other day.

@ThiccBudhha said:
Huh? Like... Against a real basement killer such as Trapper or Bubba... Sure. But, um... We can get you out against 90% of killers? What the heck are you talking about? I seriously have no clue. Nothing about the basement magically makes it impossible to save.
Have you just not played in the past month? You have about a 99% chance of that person getting downed again or someone who unhooked getting downed. Against every killer under the sun.
This is also for end game not the rest of the match. Killers camp the basement in the end game 100% of the time.

Preach. Goes for pretty much endgame hook location too against a decent Huntress/Trickster/Plague/etc. Any good camping killer. You aren't getting that unhook unless they royally screw up. I smh my head when people try to make contested saves against Oak Haft Huntress
Yeah, end game is pretty tragic right now as a soloQ survivor. I try to have either adrenaline or Deliverance to try and not be the last person hooked. Although I just had a game where I unhooked myself about 15 feet from the exit gate, and the billy managed to body block me from getting out.

A good tunneler will not target someone who can loop, he will usually target the weak element. That's even one of Otz's "Essential killer knowledge" advices and that guide is not even about tunneling.
https://youtu.be/dKQXO7yFbLA?t=501
"You should ignore the survivors who are really good at looping and go for less experience players who are easier targets."
That's the whole reason of tunneling being so effective in solo queue and why people are annoyed. Against tunneling, it's not your looping skill that matters, it's the looping skill of a newbie Claudette that the MMR decided would be your teammate this match.
I can tell you from experience most killers plan on tunneling from the start. I have had several games where I was chased for 5 gens only to get downed by NoED. I have also had games where I was tunneled for 5 gens and escaped. While some killers use tunneling strategically when it is there only option. Most killers plan on doing it from the start, because they know it is the path of least resistance. Unfortunately for them sometimes they find the best player on the team first, and end up looking like a fool.

It’s not supposed to be an end all to tunneling. It says in the patch notes the changes are to allow survivors to make it to a safe loop if the killer chooses to chase again. OTR is a second chance in case the killer decides to tunnel, which could very well happen.
Well whatever it is suppose to do, tunneling has only increased since the recent patch. Baseline BT has already shown it hasn't made an impact, maybe it is time we try something else.
I agree that OTR is good, I run it every game, but baseline BT is a joke and an extra 5 seconds isn't going to change that.
-
@RatbasterdJr said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3149528#Comment_3149528
did I say that? If the killer is going to tunnel, he’s going to tunnel you. Might as well equip yourself to deal with it. Use the basekit speed to make distance to a strong loop, use OTR as a second chance if needed.
But if the baseline borrowed time solved tunneling wouldn't OTR be redundant?
-
@RatbasterdJr said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3149504#Comment_3149504
I play a lot of survivor, and even more killer.
Run OTR and work on your looping skills. Being tunneled isn’t the end of the world, and is a good thing if you are the strong looper on the team. Keep the killer busy while the gens get ran through.
So what you are saying is the baseline borrowed time is so useless that you have to run OTR.
-
Problem with perks like this is there are killers that abused it, and the developers refuse to tune perks for each killer. In a perfect world it would give 5.5% per stack up to 22% for most killers, and then much less for plague and legion. I could see plagues and legions using it even if it capped at 10%.
-
I get 1 to 2 tool boxes per game, sometimes with brand new part. I am pretty sure that a toolbox with repair speed and extra charges with built to last is better than BNP though.
-
@RatbasterdJr said:
They literally added an anti camping perk, and increased basekit BT/speed to help with tunneling..
If you think 10 seconds of baseline borrowed time is going to stop people from tunneling, you must not play a lot of survivor.
-
Body bocks unhooked survivor for an extra 5 seconds after hooking them in the basement, gg lmao.
-
Corrupt intervention makes a much much bigger impact on the game than baseline borrowed time will ever. Even after the nerf to corrupt it is still in my opinion, one of the strongest perks in the game. The game is also pretty killer sided right now. I don't think BHVR will be releasing any kill rates because it is probably much worse than people realize.
Now if survivors got baseline DS, we could talk about a baseline corrupt.
-
Depends on if I have reached rank 1 or have any pips to lose xD
-
I am sorry, but people don't tunnel because of toxicity, they tunnel because it is the easiest way to win. There needs to be some baseline changes to the game to discourage people from removing individuals from the game. Whether that be taking time off generators when people get killed or straight up allowing you to revive teammates that get tunneled.
Tunneling is without question the most efficient way to win a game, it wasn't always like this but the recent patch changes put us here.
-
I mean didn't they already admit that they wanted kill rates to be higher than they already were which was around 2.5k per game? Mathematically the developers want the game to be killer sided.
-
You should never give up and hide if you still have teammates being chased by the killer. I have escaped several games where there was only 2 of us left and we managed to do 2 gens and escaped. The only time you should realistically hide is when the killer is slugging for a 4k and he is using that person's body to find you.
If I am playing killer and I notice that I haven't seen someone the entire game and I have the opportunity to slug for the 4k, I do. It iterates me to the core to play with stealth players, and you won't catch me giving them free gates or hatches. If you are someone who regularly ends up being the last person with 0 hook states, you are a problem.

In general 5 seconds is probably fine. It does need to shut off in the EGC though. There's no reason to go back to granting guaranteed escapes.
I am completely fine with it not working in the EGC, but survivors need at least one perk that killers are afraid of, after a survivor is unhooked.

Let's say the devs totally give in and find a way to completely stop tunneling from happening. What do you think that will do the kill rate if they don't make chasing a consistently viable strategy in return? Adding 10 seconds to gens and making actions 10% faster is not enough to compensate for totally eliminating one of the best strategies a killer can employ (when done in a smart way). Sure it will make survivors happy because their games will become even easier, but it is naive to believe killers will suddenly become successful/fun being forced to try and 12 hook every game.
Was last patch with 5 second DS really that bad? Cause that is all I am asking for at the very least.
-
@Crowman said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3148564#Comment_3148564
Some people are not going to be happy unless the devs make it physically impossible to tunnel a survivor out of the game. Which is never going to happen.
I will be happy when a change actually effects tunneling.
-
The effect on the game you would get from running guardian would be negligible.
-
Camping will likely be rare next patch, but tunneling still hasn't been addressed. I would have liked to see a DS buff, baseline borrowed time is useless because everyone is going to be running OTR anyway. So realistically nothing changed for tunneling.
-
If you are medium vaulting, the killer has a lot of time to hit you. Aside from that, if you or the killer has bad ping it can make it seem like you are being hit when you shouldn't. They can't really do much when ping is the issue.
-
I think the best survivor perk in the game right now goes to OTR by a pretty large margin. Followed by adrenaline.
