Exclusivity brings FOMO, which something you should not want in your game. You had them for free and for a year before anyone else, that's enough.

Uhm, you probably havent been playing games like Dota have you.
No and that's why.

Getting close to see a futuristic killer, perhaps?

Fair enough and I don’t blame you for disliking the practise . However the Only reason they would go down this route is because it’s more lucrative for them. I’ll still support them so long as the cosmetics are good and for characters I play
I fail to see how cosmetics being available to buy 2 or 3 weeks per year is more lucrative compared to be available the entire year. But I guess I lack the multi-year marketing class study to comprehend that. 🙃

They acknowledged it by clarifying what cosmetics will be considered time limited and that they’ll be coming back next year alongside being shard available
The system is here to stay
Well, if that's how they intent to make money off cosmetics, I won't be there to support it.
FOMO is a disgusting practice and it's a bloody shame BHVR choose to use it after years claiming they are supportive of the community.

Probably means it's here to stay unfortunately.
It shouldn't. We got a hundred people on this forum alone agreeing that practise is not welcome. ######### terrible all around.
-
No acknowledgement on the time-limited collections being called out by the community. Disappointed.

With the 6.5.2 hotfix, the Lunar New Year outfits have been vaulted from the shop.
In short:
- Halloween: 2 full outfits for Dwight + 1 full outfit for Jane, Mikaela, the Doctor, Feng, the Clown, the Trapper, Jeff, Ace and the Wraith.
- Year's End Holidays: 2 full outfits for Yun-Jin, Mikaela, Dwight, Meg + 1 full outfit for the Clown, the Twins, Zarina, Claudette, Jake, Elodie, Ace, the Trapper, the Trickster, Kate, Felix, Feng, Jonah, the Huntress + 29 Ugly Sweaters across all characters.
- Lunar Chinese New Year: 2 full outfits for Feng + 1 outfit for Ace, the Huntress, the Legion, Jeff, the Deathslinger, the Wraith, Yui and Vittorio.
Around 150 piece of cosmetics won't be purchasable until next year... for 2 or 3 weeks at best. 🤡
It's good marketing 🤠 #FuckFOMO
(We gotta talk about the other Prime Gaming, anniversary event-limited, single-piece Rift cosmetics that didn't make it out yet, at some point.)
-
Quick, everyone! Before they run out of stocks!!!!
🙃🙄
-
Why? Because they added time limits to seasonal cosmetics, even after the community said no, multiple times, in surveys.
How can you trust someone or something after that?
-
This seems like the most logical next step.
-
Not DBD but it concerns the topic of time-limited cosmetics: https://overwatch.blizzard.com/en-us/news/23910163/
After a lot of complains, Overwatch 2 has decided to unvault a majority of their skins that were limited to buy only during events. It seems FOMO is a thing a lot of people DO NOT WANT. I wish someone else in the room would take a note of this cough 🙄
Also, just today, two games that were dependent of FOMO are shutting down: Rumbleverse (battle pass + rotation store) and Apex Legends Mobile (battle pass + rotation store + lootboxes). 🤔
-
You forgot lootboxes.

It doesn't matter whether I do or don't. I am pointing out the hypocrisy in the fact that back when it wasn't confirmed they would return people weren't even willing to give them the benefit of doubt, and now even after they were told they would return they still want to cry FOMO. You are not missing out if the things are coming back AGAIN. Because then you would be including Everything that goes away and returns, not just limited to cosmetics.
- Event-Specific items: Toolboxes, Medkits, Charms Etc.
- Event-Specific Map Decor/Experience: Lunar Gens/Hooks, Winter/X-Mas Gens/Hooks, Etc Etc.
- Prime Gaming exclusives. (Which actually I don't even know if this one comes back in any form or at all)
ALL of those contribute to "fear" of missing out. Its not just cosmetics.
I meant what I said. They are a business first and a game second. If the business is flopping and not going well (hypothetically-speaking as with any other business) the "game" ceases to exist.
- Can you really blame for not give them the benefit of doubt right after BHVR forgot to mention event cosmetics were exempt from the "every new cosmetic will be available with Iri Shards 4 weeks later"?
- There is a huge difference between "A thing is available to buy 3 months at a reduced price before disappearing for a year and then brought back permanently" (rift cosmetics) and "A thing is only available to buy 2 weeks per year" (Feng & Vittorio's new LNY cosmetics this year and every LNY starting next year), the latter clearly reeks of FOMO.
- Yes, even gameplay elements are now part of FOMO. They should be made available to all through those mystery boxes in the bloodweb, it would be good. Oh, and so far, not a single cosmetic featured on Prime Gaming has been brought back, another issue that should be called out.
So far, people that don't understand why there is a fuss about all of this seems to lack the fact that multiples issues can be called out at once... If you ask around, I'm sure you will find out we also think there is a problem of balance within the game!
-
It's something that can cumulate in way bigger issues, it should be called out as much as other bugs and problems the game has.
-
"cosmetics do nothing for gameplay"
...How about you read this? https://dc.uwm.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=3499&context=etd
-
You know what? The Ormond map should be kill-switched too.Too much snow, too much holiday spirit.
-
Woah, never saw a post being so wrong before
-
FOMO is created simply by removing a product from availablity, no matter how temporary. I don't understand how people are still trying to debate this.
-
I have been curious, so I'm looking on other websites to see if we are truly the only ones to disapprove of time-limited cosmetics.
Who cares?... Well, way more than just an handful of persons. And comparisons aren't complimentary so far.
At least, on Reddit.

-
There's nothing about the fact that vaulting cosmetics is plain wrong in the first place.
-
In addition, you have the nerve to "thank us for diligently providing feedback", and yet still added those TLC when the community clearly replied no to that option in one of the previous surveys. 😡
THE NERVE. 🤬

Your comment was in the spam filter as you edited it, no one "took it out without notice".
My bad then.
-
I had a comment on that other thread criticising TLC and they took it out without any notice. Holy #########, BHVR.Oopsie, I talked too fast
-
Nah, Limited-Time Cosmetics should not be celebrated, it's the most greedy and disappointing addition you have ever made. 😡
So instead of reworking the store, you decide to make it your consumers' problem instead? Flawed and lazy logic here. 🙄
If simply removing them add value to those outfits, you're basically using the same tactics as cryptobros and their time™limited™drops™ 🤡 Also, what's the reason then for not removing summer-themed collections? They are veryspecific like their winter counterparts...
...and yet, you will remove them again afterwards? Why doing so? You're shooting yourselves in the feets, for god's sake! You're barely thinking about people not having money to buy those during those events, people that live in the southern hemisphere that have winter in our summer and vice-versa, people prone to FOMO tactics (oh, and that's FOMO by definition, no matter if they gonna be back or not),...
Really one of the most delirious directions you have chosen to drive into. I do not care about what the future will bring in this game is that's our present moment.
A tragedy, I refuse to spend another cent in your product as long as you keep this up. 🤬
-
Not a bug, but a feature. Those cosmetics are now time-limited collections and will be only available to buy during those events.
Try again next year.
-
Is it really Capcom we have to thank? They were fine with vaulting their Ugly Sweaters. 🤔
-
-
The "Who cares?" people surely seems to care enough to spend time to post in our threads. 🤡
Ah, well, more use of the Ignore list.
-
Hard agree. FOMO bring nothing good to the consumers.
BHVR, if you think it's simply easy to become like Fortnite, you forgot you also need to target kids and sell them lootboxes for a few years.

Are the new RE skins time gated too?
Nope!... Strangely enough, they are season-themed. 🤓
-
Even if those seasonal cosmetics come back next year with Iri Shards prices, it is still problematic imho. They should not be removed from the store, period.
-
Yep, wish we had a real way to protest against this. I feel like "voting your wallet", while still valid, isn't enough.
-
How convenient. Seasonal outfits that will stay after the seasonal event ends. What a novel concept. 🤔
-
They need to stop but how do we reach the monetisation team to give our feedback?
-
Confirmation of several collection disappearing for no reason.

Wait wait wait. After the event they will be unavailable until next year. Isn't that FOMO?!?!
Yes.And if they didn't did those giveaway codes, that would be FOMO too.
At least now, new players have a chance to own those cosmetics. But it still can be better if they were put in the store.
-
Good, it removes FOMO.
-
Those Moris are on mobile are usually limited to one specific outfit you can only earn through a lootbox system. No thanks.
-
More perks, I imagine.

Was it said in a patchnote?
Afterwards I will still leave because they were purchasable throughout the year 2022 from January to December, every time it's a bug for some skins
It wasn't announced in a patchnotes, but it was part of the official post of the winter event.
Think like Fortnite, which have skins available only when they show up in the store for a few days. That's basically the same thing that has been introduced in DbD since October.
-
It was purposefully removed from the shop. You were too late for greedy reasons.
-
Following recent tendencies, I don't see the old outfits staying in the store after the Lunar event ends.

Who actually cares? If you want a certain cosmetic you'll get it. Making Christmas sweaters seasonal changes nothing.
I refuse to believe you are serious writing this right after I posted the "don't ask questions, just consume products" picture.

Are camping killers bannable? Like, I'm talking straight up Bubba not moving and facing a hooked survivor, standing still for a few minutes because we all know his power is impossible to dodge in that situation. I always report it as "idling". 😕

on a good day I might be able to defend implementing NEW limited time skins.
But retroactively making skins that have been available for years time limited is so utterly ridiculous.
New and old time-limited skins should not be defended on any day.
