Nope, I consider DBD a competitive game and come from games like Dota, Hunt Showdown etc, which means I give 100% of me in every game, dont give a ######### about being "nice", its nothing personal, I dont go out of my way to make you miserable, I dont even know who you are and dont care either.
Apart from that, I actually consider someone that is "nice" to me in these types of games as if he is "insulting" me by giving me free wins and/or going easy on me, I like to give 100% of me and also take 100% too, I dont want you to give me hatch or willingly open exit gates, I like hard/spicy and interesting games.

As a Survivor Main, after 1,500 hours of Dead by Daylight, the only thing I find fun is looping killers.
And every time you release more anti-looping mechanics, you kill the only thing left that I find fun in DBD.
The Knight for example, his guards just ruin loops. I'd say I am facing a Knight every other game nowadays, and frankly it's boring. His guards aren't even affected by pallets or windows much, they just kinda go right through them really fast. It's so boring when a Knight just keeps spamming his ability to deny loops and down you quicker.
The game is already M1 simulator, but at least I can have fun engaged in chases with killers. At start of games, I will run into the middle of the map and do the hardest generator location on purpose, to initiate the first chase.
But anti-loop mechanics are just so boring and removes any incentive to launch this game up for me. It's gotten to the point, where I just don't even want to play against any anti-loop killer AT ALL.
Knight especially. I absolutely hate Knight's killer abilities with the Guards stuff. (don't @ me with stories of your low MMR games with crappy killers)
Killers dont give a ######### bud, find something interesting or fun in the game or move on, its that simple.

As Killer I try to spread my hooks around, and if I do down someone again off hook, I slug them instead of hooking them again. I don't even hang around to properly slug, I let them get healed up and get back to them later. I don't "Win" matches too often like this but I do get a nice amount of BP. Heck, I don't even fake for Deadhards, I just swing for the fences on every survivor. I like letting the matches go on, only to get to the end of the match with the exits open and watch the survivors at the end t-bag or click their flashlights and then berate you in endgame chat.
Like If I really wanted to 4k a match I feel like I could have most the time by just, not playing as nice... It feels bad to play killer a good chunk of the time. And if I play for keeps then I'm trying too hard and "tunneling" or boring.
I will never understand why would anyone do this, playing nice I mean.

Background: For years, I was exclusively a killer main. However at the beginning of this year, I wanted to give survivor a real try (solo) to see if I was merely blinded by my own bias. The short answer is yes I was. Now let me explain.
Killer Experience: As a killer main, I probably win 70% of my games at this point. However, whenever I lose, it generally feels disproportionately bad. This is largely due to bad maps, coordinated swfs, COH/medkits removing pressure. Losing is what I tend to remember.
Solo Survivor: In the overwhelming amount of cases, losses come down to the following: 1. someone is getting camped (face or proxy). But instead of the other 3 survivors knocking out gens, they tend to feed the killers downs. 2. It's a nurse, blight, bubba, knight, legion, spirit, wesker etc - all with slowdowns stacked.
So what does this lead to? For killers, if they feel like they keep getting genrushed, they will resort to face camping or being carried by top tier killers + slowdowns. For survivors, if they want the best chance at survival, they will try to get the gens done as fast as possible. It's a vicious cycle.
The problem I see is that there really aren't very many viable solutions. The devs won't punish swfs for playing with their friends and they also cannot continue to increase gen times or solo queue will be nearly impossible to win.
It's a pipe dream, but I wish the dbd community as a whole would just take it a bit easier when playing either side.
Wink wink people want to win, the post.

I've noticed a trend of people complaining about bloodlust a lot recently because it's somehow "overpowered", there's even an annoying gimmick accounts on Twitter that comments on every single post behaviour makes usually to just say to remove bloodlust. And I'm sitting here like, what's wrong with bloodlust? Like genuinely what is wrong with it, I can't think of one think that makes it worthy of being removed.
People will complain about anything nowadays it seems.
Yes buddy we know, everything survivors ever get is balanced and ok to be in the game while everything killers get is "oppressive" and "broken", we get the usual narrative and pattern in this forum, you dont have to make another post about it.

If you get tunneled and facecamped then you must be running around in the open field? The killer must see you in the first place. If you start the match, the first thing you can do is hide behind a million obstacles, widely available for you to use. If you're scared that the killer is using lethal pursuer, then distortion is the perk for you.
No, if you get "tunneled" and "facecamped" you are an amazingly skilled survivor with no faults and godlike looping, and the killer is cheating/playing scummy.

I am only more and more convinced with every response that people are conflating her current balance with her core concept.
Yes, right now it's hard to utilise her kit because it's undertuned. But, as I said up there, if her information and stealth were more consistent and powerful, and you still can't see how that's a worthwhile power, that's on you.
Has nothing to do with HER core concept or current balance, it has to do with the game's balance.
I mean apart from that, she is also disgustingly, utterly, abysmally boring to play, Jesus H. Christ even winning on her is so incredibly boring, I know fun's subjective but if you're actually fine with her "core concept" in general, as you say, then your standards for "fun" must be pretty interesting, to say the least, oh well.

I don't want to be mean or rude, but if you really can't see any application for a killer with mapwide tracking and consistent stealth, that's far more on you than on the core design of the power. You put "her power" in brackets next to Exposed like it's all she does, but it's like, a tertiary thing at best. The main thing she does is track survivors, and the secondary thing she does (or at least is meant to do, as far as I'm aware; nobody's denying she's weak) is give herself stealth. The Exposed is like, pressure to mess with her traps at best, it's far from the only thing her power has.
She's not a chase killer. That doesn't automatically make the design worthless.
I can "track" survivors doing gens and winning the game, sounds like a fun time with this killer, is this all we're supposed to do with this killer? Hop in a game, and spectate survivors doing gens? Right now its more or less what you'll be doing with this survivor plaything.
All the information in the world doesnt mean jack if you cant use it in any meaningful way.

Community: So what does the new killer do?
BHVR: Well they have these drones that scan an area and you can become stealthy inside them and after a while survivors become exposed if they're in range of the drone too long but then if they try to disarm them they get tagged and you get to know where they are wherever you want so you can be guarding area and chasing down survivors constantly as long as you setup correctly. Oh and then they have these add-ons they basically customize the drone letting you decide if you wanna focus on gen defense or chase more giving the killer multiple playstyles.
Community: BOOOOO! BAD! DELETE! WORST KILLER EVER! BOYCOTT DBD! Well what do these killers over here do?
BHVR: Wesker and Blight?
Community: Yeah
BHVR: They move fast?
Community: What else?
BHVR: No that's it they move fast. I mean Wesker has an infection meter but that's so easy to get rid of you won't notice it much so yeah mostly just moving fast.

Legit question. I don't think it is. Even if you are finishing your chases quickly, if there is no gen regression from your chases (Pain Res, Jolt) or passive lockdown (Deadlock, Corrupt), gens will fly. As a result, Killers will have to play sweaty or see tbagging at the gates.
I expect Survivors to complain. BHVR makes camping/tunneling harder. Killers run more gen regression. BHVR nerfs gen regression instead of looking at the root of why it is needed to stand a chance.
Yes, it is legit.

There's a lot to unpack in this post and it's a Friday afternoon but I'll do my best!
Game is not dying, game is also actively supported by us, regular new content, regular updates etc.
There has never been a plan for the survivor to fight back, they have hook states to compensate for that really, DbD is not a survivor fight back game, never has been designed that way and as far as I'm aware, never will be.
Maps are not necessarily smaller and they're not buffed to suit either side - however there's always going to be various maps that suit one side over another and suit a particular killer more than another, that's pretty much inevitable.
Can't blind the killer at a pallet? That's listed as a bug and definitely not intentional.
Perks are complained about on both sides, we've already acknowledged that we're looking into the situation with Eruption amongst other perks. And this is something that we hope we will be able to continue to do reguarly. Last summer we did do an overhaul of a lot of perks on both sides.
Killer speeds have not increased, 4.6m/s has always been the default killer speed, with 4.4m/s for most ranged killers. Killers need to be faster than the survivor, they also have a completely different sized hitbox and are not in 3rd person like survivors, which gives Survivors the advantage in looping etc the killers speed effectively balances that, otherwise they would never be able to catch up with a survivor.
Shadow buffs/nerfs are not a thing. True sometimes things are accidentally left out of patch notes and we acknowlege that and normally add them in as soon as it's realised. This is something that happens rarely however.
Servers have not changed over the last year - they are still the same servers in the same locations, if you've started to have issues where you had none before I do suggest checking your equipment for any issues or open up a post in our Ask the community section here to see if anyone is able to assist you in your connection problems. Our support team also has some helpful advice on their website Technical Support and Troubleshooting – Dead by Daylight
There is no favouritism between the killer character chosen and the map RNG that you get - you are just very lucky to get an open map when you have played as Huntress. Maps are pure RNG unless offerings are used and you could just as easily end up on Lerys as Fractured Cowshed.
I'm sorry you do not like the rift cosmetics, please feel free to give more information on what you didn't like, we're always listening out for feedback with regards to all aspects of the game and that includes the Rift and the Archives in general.
I'm sorry that you're not satisfied with the current state of play with Dead by Daylight, this is a live service game where things can and do change when necessary and we are constantly striving to update the game and improve upon it. The new Survivor HUD is an example of that, we were aware of the many complaints on how bad it felt playing as a solo survivor and many of us play this game as well do not forget, and we added this quality of life update just recently. There's also more to come for accessibility with the visual terror radius that we've mentioned briefly. There's always going to be changes with a live game, it's the very nature of the game.
Since we're talking about accesibility, are we ever going to have an FOV slider for killers? Instead of either becoming motion sick because of the god awful current FOV or wasting a perk slot for Shadowborn (dear BHVR, its 2023, cmon, a perk for FOV? That didnt exist 10 years ago when it came to industry standards for First Person View games, let alone now).
-
I can only imagine how god awful and insanely short sighted you must be at survivor to say the ######### you say, either that or you're giga baiting/trolling and/or playing a different game thinking its DBD.
Nice b8 m8.
Btw, "like it or hate it", its 250% a skill issue, I know the garbage you're writing to make yourself feel better instead of taking a good, hard look at how bad you are at the game, is much better, but you're living in an imaginary bubble, you're part of the "casual/bad survivors".
-
Im playing to win, if tunneling a survivor is what wins me the game, I do it without a second thought, its also giga fun for me and the added rage is icing on the cake!
Nothing personal though, if you dont like it, get better at looping, unistall or deal with it, like there are some godlike loopers that I can tell from 10 seconds into a chase, and I instantly detach, 9 times of 10 there is always a weak link in the team to get out of the game quick.
-
Eruption stops survivors from doing anything for 25 seconds because they're bad enough not to let go of the gen right before someone is slugged, with the new HUD thats piss poor easy to predict.
-
Make NOED a non Hex perk, or at least make the totem not flash when near it, then we'll see how much "BM" will happen at the EGC, lets see survivors try to dance around killers.
-
Well, they made a game in which you use a perk to change the FOV for the first person view, and without it you're stuck with that god awful, vomit inducing default FOV, havent seen anything THAT stupid in any game ever.
-
Cya
-
I cant believe a game has a perk that changes ######### FOV, the perk should have been deleted AAAAGES ago and an FOV slider implemented, like 99.99999% of modern First Person View games.

I don't know if it's smart thing to answer someone who defend tunneling, but "genrushing" is a killer skill issue that focus on one survivor, which was pointed many times by pro-players. So the word "dumb" you throw so easily could be very ironical and backfire. But nothing wrong in acknowleding skill issue, I just for saying it straight, not by complaining.
I dont know if its a smart thing (yes I do know, it isnt) to answer to someone that uses the word "pro-players" in a DBD forum, but "tunneling" is a survivor skill issue, so the word "skill issue" you throw so easily, IS very ironical and WILL backfire.

True. Tunneling is not frequent enough, only in 80% cases, we should fix that ASAP!
That is NOT a valid reason for killers not being able to see progress over THEIR objective.
Genrushing is VERY frequent, so why have gen progress shown?

The actual problem is that Nurse is still too strong and a relic of the past which really should not exist like that. You always have to ask - would DBD release a Killer like her nowadays? And the answer is a clear "No".
And well, naturally Killers switch to as much Slowdown as possible, because it is the easiest way to play Killer. You drag out the game, which means less ressources, which means easier chases, which results in more Downs, followed by more Slowdown and so on. And honestly, if you need 20 minutes to kill 4 Survivors, who are most likely better than you, you should not win.
Last but not least - for me, nothing will change. I play Nurse with my Build, which is full Aura Read (except for Shadowborn). And I mostly go against Nurses who already stack Slowdown a lot and a Starstruck-Nurse is quite a rarity. (Because, again - stacking Slowdown is easier, so more players go for that... Even on Nurse)
True, DBD wouldnt release her now, they'd be too busy releasing absolutely handicapped survivo- ehm, "killers" like Knight that scream "we care for survivor fun more than killer fun!"
She is a relic of the past because she is actually one of the very few killers that survivors actually fear, which is how it should be for literally every killer in the game.

They said they play SWF because they have fun playing with friends, not because it's broken or lets them win all the time.
So… they do something they know is unsportsmanlike and unfair just because they are allowed to and THEY have fun. Regardless of all the people they make NOT have fun because SWF in this game is clearly broken. This is a pretty common argument amongst survivors in this game. But here’s what this is also saying - they have no moral compass of their own to stop them from doing something wrong. The system they are playing in says it’s ok so they will go along with that since it allows them to do what they enjoy.
Does anyone not see what’s wrong here? Not see the obvious philosophical issue? People who allow themselves to go along with corrupt / broken systems are not free from responsibility. Especially when you’re not forced to go along with it. If you continue to play broken SWF and don’t take steps to just play a fair game, you’re the problem. You can’t just blame the game and the unfair system. You have the freedom to make the game more fair by not playing with comms, the strongest perks and items in the game and using the cheapest, easiest tactics. This is why killers get angry at this game and survivors. This is why they tunnel and camp. It’s not just saltiness. It’s a complete lack of fairness and an abrogation of responsibility of both survivors and BHVR. We want to play fair games, that’s all.

I really don’t understand how this game can go from memeing in snowmen and having fun with the killer, to getting beaten to death on the hook, slugged as last person alive until bleeding out on the ground, instantly removed from the match because of ultra-rare addons like tombstone or offerings like mori. It seems like camping and tunneling that one survivor for a mori is more important than actually playing the game and letting everyone enjoy it. Why is Behavior allowing this type of toxic behavior? Instead of preventing it, they are making it easier for people. A killer that can send «guards» to camp the hooks for them, seriously? These changes are ruining the whole community and experience. The more toxic players there are, the less wholesome and nice players. Is that really what we want?

The fundamental problem isn't that you have to play sweaty against sweaty people. The fundamental problem is that, for both sides, the most optimal way to play the game is also the least fun for the other side. Now imagine that the most optimal way to win the game, was to do the thing that is the most fun. The game would be in a much healthier state then.
"Now imagine that the most optimal way to win the game, was to do the thing that is the most fun."

The problem here is that you are completely glossing over the FACT that you ruin games for others when you tunnel. You don't have to tunnel, you just choose to as its easier than playing well for pressure.
You do understand I play killer right?
You can make any excuse you want for playing in an unpleasant way that ruins the game for others but don't be surprised or complain when the devs inevitably add more changes so you can't get away with it.
"complain when the devs inevitably add more change"
Complain? Huh? Why would I complain about a new game? Im down!

Anyone who plays enough killer with a decent amount of experience knows the LAST survivor you chase is the one who wants you to chase them as they will almost certainly waste too much of your time and you will almost always catch them in a bad position later on if you are patient.
I too can make up an imaginary/hypothetical scenario as an example and then roll with that but we don't really get anywhere doing this.
The fact is, tunnelling ruins the game for others and no amount of copium from bad players trying to excuse their bad plays will change that.
Oh and do you really have to resort to name calling/personal insults to make your 'point'?
In other words: "Killer playing to win without using any third party software aka cheating ruins the game for other people."
"I too can make up an imaginary/hypothetical scenario"
Yes, you can and you have, for years upon years on end, its called "tunneling and camping", let me translate those for you, its called "playing the game", if you dont like it, go play single player games, multiplayer games aint for you.
Aight ima play to win 10x from now on, so the players that actually want to play single player games but dont know it yet will wisen up to that FACT, since you're speaking of facts.

https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/359895/scott-otz-discuss-tunneling-video
I disagree, there are plenty of solutions that can actually make tunneling impossible. They just need to do it.
Tunneling is effective because it removes someone from the game, so make that simply impossible. What if survivors 1st hook state was shared as a team, so even if you tunnel the same survivor, you have to hook them 4 times (to get through the teams shared hooks) then 2 more times, to get through their own states. This could be a way to do it for example. Obviously it has other implications, but the reality is that it is possible to fix it. But the fix to it is not to incentivize killers to do other things, or to disincentivize tunneling, its to make it literally impossible to do, then balance the game around that thing being impossible.
"But the fix to it is not to incentivize killers to do other things, or to disincentivize tunneling"
You are a dangerous person, its a good thing you have actually nothing to do with the balance of the game, please keep your "brilliant" balance ideas inside that rampaging imagination of yours, unless of course you want to be running around the map, doing gens and looping your fellow teammates, without a killer inside the game, maybe thats the fix you people wanted all along.

When I first started playing the game, I was totally overwhelmed and did not really have a clue what I was supposed to do - my inclination was to look for a generator and start working on it - skill checks were hit or miss at first but the sounds and fear of the killer were what made me miss skill checks the most, drawing the killer often. When faced with killer, I would be hit or downed in seconds. Killers are faster, have powers and often tunnelled me and camped me to death. It was honestly unfun and just horrible.
Killer is the power role and that’s the challenge, but rising to that challenge as a solo is honestly not easy or enjoyable. It took me hundreds of matches to get a feel of the different components of the game - work on gens, but know when to hide or run if killer may be approaching; when to go for unhooks and when to heal. Even the concept of trying to unhook yourself being only 4% was something I didn’t realise until a good few deaths and I got to know it is better to wait. All the different killers and powers and their perks being different just adds to the confusion for new and solo players.
After being destroyed and utterly stomped by killers (including slugged, hit on hook, face camping and tunnelling) it either makes you stop the game or find solace in other ways. This is why I think so many survivors who by the time they improve, have little love for killers and can create toxicity. Most solo and baby survivors experiencing toxicity first from killers - they are not starting a new game with the intent to be toxic, but they get stomped on.
For me, playing on console meant I could never chat or see end game conversations - let alone comms, but I sometimes had the odd kind player - good or bad, their acts of kindness (even coming to unhook or heal) would make me feel a sense of camaraderie. I’ve tried to make in-game friends with such people and we’d play partial SWFs - not comms, just people who are online at the same time and have the patience with each other to not give up and actually go for unhooks. This means by nature, we’d develop an altruistic tendency (and I know that isn’t the most efficient etc, but it’s infinitely better than someone who you don’t know at all leaving you hanging).
After a while, this would enable us to get to grips with each others play styles and perks preferences and we’d make some improvements individually and collectively.
Then I see a lot of killers on forums say that the game is survivor-sided and SWFs are toxic etc and survivors saying the same about killers.
I get the killer should have the power role, but I think many people forget just how uncompromising and almost impossible it is for new survivors to get into this game - their experience is getting destroyed which fosters bitterness and anger.
When I see people say stuff like the game is survivor sided it is truly shocking. Survivors have a ridiculously low margin of error and even at 4-5 gens done, mistakes can create snowballs. With soloQ, that’s game over.
By having a buff to soloQ, it will create more balance and less stomping of randoms. This in turn will probably (hopefully..) mean more of a natural way to practice and learn the do’s and dont’s in the game.
I’ve seen those God players - killer and survivor on YouTube etc and they make the game seem easy - it is not. But it also creates this us v them mentality.
Half of my friends list by the way, were killers who killed me in soloQ games lol but they were not toxic and or showed some form of kindness (no I don’t mean hatch, sometimes they would let me get practice in stuff like chases or let me finish a challenge before killing me).
Anyway sorry for the long post - it’s my first one so go easy on me.
"survivors experiencing toxicity first from killers"
If you think Im (or any killer for that matter) being toxic for "camping" and "tunneling" aka playing to win, then sorry, but you'd be mistaken.

So you think only terrible survivors play the PTB yet there are plenty of content creators who stay on the PTB during this time playing both sides, my MMR on live servers definitely isn't low but I'm not sure if it's on in the PTB or not
Oh so its swarmed by "cahnent creators" is it? Well excuse me then sir, must be the top of the top, sorry.

Can you imagine in any ######### multiplayer game, you're trying to do your objective as quickly, efficiently and effectively as possible, and you're getting ######### from the enemy team? LOL
I can just see it in a game like Dota, "dude you just killed me 5 times in a row, can you stop please?" Or, "dude you just destroyed 3 of our towers, stop "tunneling" our towers!"

No, I did not say anything of the sort - so what I seem to be saying to you is not what I am saying.
I don't think any Nurse main with some skill feels like a match is impossible to win, if they do they are not very good with Nurse. I have been on the PTB too and Nurse is still fine
DBD may be a PVP game but it is not inherently a true 'competitive' game and can never be by the very nature of asymmetrical games.
It has nothing to do with mental gymnastics, it is just a fact that the majority of the DBD player base are unskilled survivors and if you balance for the top minority the unskilled causal majority will not play as the game will be completely inaccessible to them.
You are mistaking this as me saying this as my personal preference; the fact is BHVR have to balance the game this way or the game will die. You don't market and balance for the top 0.1% - this is just plain bad business and BHVR will never do this. Not accepting this fact will set you up for a lot of disappointment
You dont market, but you DEFINITELY balance.
