Yep, you can thank FOMO.

Limited time cosmetics is a horrible decision. As a veteran player since 2016 it’s actually quite saddening to see this marketing tactic now in action. :/ I used to buy literally every cosmetic on release. I stopped because of choices like this.
I hope this decision is retroactively quashed and that all winter and sweater cosmetics remain in store… :/
? The winter and sweater cosmetics are already taken off the store.

Why was Jeff sweater removed from in game store to be made into time limited seasonal cosmetic but not removed from real life DBD official merch store? Shouldn't that be removed because "seasonal and no one would buy it outside Christmas"? Or does that excuse only apply to pixels? 🤔 😂

Oh my god, what a good catch. I'll forever post a screenshot of your post every time people think it's normal to limit digital goods. 🤣

The Red Forest and the Backwater Swamp still haven't gotten their rework since the begging of the Realm Beyond started. Atleast give those map what they deserve. Yeah sure, other maps need work too, but how many years has it been? 2 or 3 now?
-
Still haven't see a single pep being happy with these changes and wishing for more, so I am guessing this is gonna be walked back, right? Right?

They do it because ... huh ... immersive! Like reality, everything winter-related disapeears once the new year begins! Like Cinderella!

I'm not saying anyone shouldn't leave any type of review they want, I respect others' opinions very much. They just shouldn't make it while attacking forum moderators, who more than likely has no say in when the cosmetics leave at a particular time, they are just the announcers. That's what truly bothers me. I am also voicing my opinion how it may be a good marketing tactic for them that leaves customers wanting to come back eventually for that cosmetic. "I have to come back next year because I really want that outfit!", that's what the developers in charge of these decisions want people to think. They probably continue to use that 'scummy tactic' because it works. I have no statistics to prove this, this is just my thought. Do I think they're really worth waiting a whole year for? No. Not unless outfits were given a slight buff to the character you're playing instead of purely just cosmetic. Which would never happen because that really is unfair. I just wish people were nicer when asking for changes instead of being so aggressive and immediately threatening to give the game a bad review over something so minor.
Also, what is an example of dishonest messaging? They surely did give a message how they would be back next year and a time frame on which the limited time cosmetics would be available. (I'm not being rude, I'm genuinely curious if they did deceive us and I didn't notice.)
Example of dishonest messaging: announcing on social media that all future original cosmetics will be available to buy with Iri Shards 4 weeks after their release. then, announcing on this forum only that the "seasonal" cosmetics are exempted from that rule.

i call it how I see it. You don’t like the way the devs do stuff, quit playing the game then. So backwards.
Oh, you're not supposed to criticise the game you like if something goes wrong? You gotta uninstall it ASAP instead? That's new. Clearly a good way to solve problems.

Ok first off.....thank you for actually giving a source and it's the one I thought you would give based on how you were responding.
I think that's where our disconnect is coming from.....it says in the Wiki what you are saying but if you read on it uses specifically the example of a battle pass....so it's up to our own interpretation of what would also be included into this and where our opinions differ on the situation
Battle Passes are also FOMO.

I'm interested in where your getting your definition of FOMO from because the one I found dosnt match up at all with what's going on
Fear of missing out (FOMO) is the feeling of apprehension that one is either not in the know or missing out on information, events, experiences, or life decisions that could make one's life better.[2] FOMO is also associated with a fear of regret,[3] which may lead to concerns that one might miss an opportunity for social interaction, a novel experience, a memorable event, or a profitable… -

No they are disagreeing if that is considered FOMO since they are coming back next year there is no fear of missing out because they will be back.....if they were going to be permanently removed to never come back then yes I would agree that's FOMO
If they are being removed of the store, no matter if and when they will come back, that is FOMO. Period.

What does that even mean? No one is disagreeing with the definition of FOMO. What people are disagreeing with is that this is considered FOMO...I gave a example where I would agree FOMO would be used.
If people think removing cosmetics from the store isn't FOMO, then they are disagreeing with the definition of FOMO.

It's not about reading....many people don't agree with the opinion that's this is "Scummy" or FOMO and no amount of comments like that will make people share your opinion.
If people don't agree with the definition of FOMO, I'm not the one who disagree with dictionaries 🤷

What backlash? All I saw were a couple of posts here on the forums. Nobody said a peep on other social media. Yep, another proof that they do not care about what the community wishes, or read the survey responses.
Hell, do they even read those forum threads? You would think so because they just went through a rework, but... 🤷

Because of Netflix.

Really a bad decision, BHVR.

BHVR can't control every store. Your comparison is nonsense.
BHVR has decided to end the seasonal sales. It's not the end of the damn world, and it's not a scam or 'greedy' or 'scummy'. Stop with the mental acrobatics to justify being angry at a tiny problem no one sane cares about.
It's not the end of the world, but it is a scam and greedy and scummy. And a lot of people care about this tiny problem. Stop being comfy in your little bubble.

You completely missed the point. None of my examples were inventory based:
- The Halloween store has enough costumes to sell year-round. They just choose to b e open one month a year.
- Stores have enough candy to sell outside Valentine's Day.
- You think Wal-Mart runs out of Christmas decorations? They just store them away for next year.
Hmm, it's almost like every business rotates stock and store away seasonal items after that season ends. WEIRD! 🤔
Even if all those seasonal stuff are removed from display, they are still available to buy through Internet. Look, it's January and you can buy a summer snowsuit. So your comparison is nonsense.

Did...did someone really lose their mind over seasonal outfits leaving after the season ends?
I wonder what OP's reaction would be to my local Halloween mega-store, which opens for October only and closes November 1st until next October 1st, every year.
Or how about when grocery stores only sell Valentine's Day candy around Valentine's Day.
Or how Christmas decorations leave stores after December 31st. Not to mention the holiday deals that end after the holidays! So much FOMO! Down with Big Money! 🤣
Wow, looks like someone missed the point entirely of this thread.
Please either come back informed or don't bother posting.

Less than 24 hours before they all leave.
-
Yep, that would be good.

Is there a plan to change colours on the DbD section of the forum? Because it's way too dark sometimes.

The Bone Chill is extended for another week, and so the time-limited cosmetics won't quit the store tomorrow.
Still a ######### situation. 🤮

Still disgusting. Really hope we got a proper clarification about these and other cosmetics blocked behind FOMO tactics during the next Q&A.

Because that's what these forums do.
Kind of funny when you think about the fact of what fomo does, and what they (the people overreacting) are doing by spreading misinformation.
Oh, because BHVR saying they wouldn't do exclusive anymore before pulling that stunt isn't misinformation?
Or annoncing all original content will be available with Iri Shards before forgetting to say there would be exception isn't misinformation either?
-
...So are the holiday cosmetics special because they are holiday-themed or because they will be gone from the store for a whole year? If it's the first option, it's weird how they aren't differently priced from other outfits or don't bring something truly unique like the Modern Tales collection that comes with its own lobby music. If it's the second option... well that's still disgusting because those time frames were implanted because of greed, they are no justifiable only because they exist now. Hell, some outfits are considered holiday-themed just for featuring a snowflake, yet the Everlasting Frost collection that features killers almost being stuck in ice won't be removed next year. What is the logic here?
Time frames on digital goods are still #########, stop even trying to go "well i can see the logic...", there is no logic. None.

They will not introduce lootboxes.
Games in general seem to be slowly moving away from lootboxes in favor of battle passes (which we already have) due to legal concerns, as a number of regions have instituted partial or complete bans on lootboxes. If they introduced them, they'd be pushed out of several markets either now or in the near future.
Theoretically they have the option to implement them on a regional basis, but seeing how much very basic stuff they struggle with (chat censoring ##### to mind) I really doubt they could implement this without breaking a whole bunch of unrelated stuff.
Ha! They introduced time constraints on ugly sweaters and it broke twice: Ada's sweater was available way before intended, and then all 3 new sweaters were overpriced for a bit too.
So clearly, breaking things do not really matter, as long as they can make money.
Lootboxes will surely come. Until we serverly express our disapproval.

The Shrine should not be on weekly rotations, but a simple catalog instead.

Somehow, that survey was underwhelming. I used one of the "is there antyhing else we should know" to talk about the increased use of FOMO tactics.

I do not have an issue with seasonal items being available at the appropriate season either, it's just the sudden change that is concerning.
It shows they are unsatisfied with the amount of money they are getting from the store so they are adding new conditions to make people more likely to buy something. It's a bad look when the cosmetics are pretty expensive as they are so it's a bit... disappointing to think that they want more.
...But is it really a problem about money?
Doing that at the same time as declaring all original cosmetics will be available with Iri Shards at some points doesn't make sense. That's like 2 decisions back-to-back that decreases profits, imho.
-
Nah.
I expect lootboxes to come.

Meanwhile, still no answer about why time limits are a thing!
