  • What FoV are you playing on? Since they reduced the size of his Chainsaw, I dont really bump into many things anymore, at least not to an extend like before the change.

But I am also playing on max FoV, so maybe increasing it (if you are not on max) would help with that.

I think the comparison here is mostly because they are both considered toxic and frowned upon.

Comparable or not, both shouldn't be bannable. But they should be avoided.

Yeah, of course, both should not be bannable.

But IMO Killer Toxicity has more impact on gameplay than Survivor toxicity. A Survivor cannot really be toxic and deny the Killer points, make it unable for them to play or waste their time without any other option.

But Killer Toxicity can exactly do this.

  • @Alice_pbg said:

because that is just the game.

harassment, and other stuff is what would actually get them banned.

this is the equivalent of asking a ban for a t-bag.

Teabagging neither wastes the Killers time nor does it impact their gameplay at all. Those are not really compareable.

Not saying that slugging until Bleedout should be a bannable offense, since it is not holding the game hostage, it is a dickmove, but not bannable.

It's funny to see Mangled with Sloppy on a roadmap and don't see Botany, WWMI, Desperate Measures and CoH on a list. I run Botany in 80% of my games and i don't even notice that Sloppy exists. Absolutely mind blowing decision for me touching this status effect. Especially with such an awful decision as timer.

Killer's perk variety like ten times less than survivor's, but let's send another few perks and bunch of addons in the trash.

There is so many things could be changed and became useful instead, but seems like devs hate when killer brings something except 4 slowdowns in the match.

"There is so many things could be changed and became useful instead, but seems like devs hate when killer brings something except 4 slowdowns in the match."

    Mangled not Slowdown confirmed.

  • The speed penalty should be removed entirely. Cleansing Totems or opening Chests while not making any sounds is not that strong of a benefit that it justifies a penalty. (In fact, it benefits the Killer anyway if Survivors spend their time opening chests or cleansing Dull Totems...)

But IF the Devs REALLY think that this benefit deserves a penalty, they should AT LEAST only let it apply while in the Terror Radius and only then the Survivor is silent. This would also make sense because if they can hear the Killer, they will be more careful and therefore silent, but slower. This would also benefit Stealth Killers.

But it makes 0 sense that you get a Speed Debuff for being silent when the Killer is on the other side of the map.

  • Do you really think that the Devs would not have added Jason at this point if they had the chance to do so? There was (is?) a lawsuit going on which made it not really possible to get the IP. And I think it is still not possible.

But you can be sure that if there is a possibility to get Jason, the Devs will try to do so and will probably also have some concepts in mind.

As I know, you don't need to spend 30 seconds. Just avoiding one time will make you not scream for left seconds.

    I might be wrong though.

    I think you are right.

However, this only applies to the initial prog of Ultimate Weapon. If the Killer approaches you while it lingers, you will scream anyway and there is not really anything you can do, except hiding in a locker for 30 seconds. Let alone that you somehow need to know that the Killer has the Perk (which is difficult at the start) and you need to know that they just used it.

  • As already mentioned, there is not really any good Anti-Tunnel Perk in the game. This spot was used by DS (even tho it was not really good at Anti-Tunnel either). But nowadays Killers would probably push through a 5 second-DS as well since the reward for tunneling is just too big and it is too easy to do.

Any Anti-Tunnel which resolves around Endurance will just be negated by hitting the unhooked Survivor. OTR might have a long duration, but it is gone after one hit. Which is just not good design that the Killer can negate multiple Perks which should help against tunneling by just hitting the Survivor off hook.

IMO the best Build currently to avoid tunneling is probably a Stealth-Build. You cannot be tunneled if you are not being found and I see an increase in Stealth-Perks nowadays. Which is understandable, because you are most likely the first dead if you are found first.

  • Should be the case.

Even tho I find it funny that Skull Merchant-players sometimes end up playing PvE in Public Games.

How would that work? This entire thing is either a buff, a nerf or both. How would you turn that into a quality of life update with no balance implications?

The stronger gen kicks are a net buff but I feel it's a fair exchange for the loss of 3 gens in that sense. Playing around 3 gens is not really an option anymore. You'll burn through the 8 regression events and from that point everything goes south.

I mean, it is a Nerf (both of it, for the respective side), this is true. But the goal was not to nerf something, the goal was to make things healthier.

And nah, it is just a net buff. If 8 Regression Events usually did not happen outside of 3-Gens (which was confirmed by the Dev), buffing the Regression to 5% is just a Buff.

As I said in another Thread, when someone wanted to argue that Killers needed this compensation because less gentapping would happen so Killers would kick Gens less often, Killers basically got compensated for a Buff with a Buff.

  • @Xernoton said:

Both sides received some nerfs but also buffs in that regard. Killers can no longer infinitely regress gens, because the amount of regression events was limited. This however also means, that each of them has to be impactful enough for the survivors to not simply bait them out and then push through.

I think what they did with gen tapping is a bit much (although a change was definitely necessary) but we will see how this works out. So far it seems mostly alright.

    Meh.

I would rather see the actual 3-Gen Solution and the removal of Gentapping as Game Health and not as a Buff or Nerf.

The increase to 5% (from 2,5%) on Kicks is a straight Buff tho.

I can’t understand why the killer ping indicator in the lobby was ever removed for survivors.

Noone wants to play against a Nurse VPNing across the world with 400 ping.

Because the Killer is not the host anymore.

However, Killers Ping should be displayed. Because this is what actually matters, it does not matter if a Survivor has 30 or so Ping to the Server if the Killer has 200 Ping.

  • You can believe me or not, this was not my Edit. Some Mod seemed to have edited it (for whatever reason) without giving a notification.

  • IMO they should just let Spikes appear from the first time kicking/damaging. First Gen Regression-Event 1 Spike, second 2 Spikes and so on.

    Would be less confusing IMO.

  • I never dodge unless I see a Survivor who I remember for being too selfish in the past. Like someone who let their team die in a previous game to get Hatch.

E.g. there is one particular player who my SWF-Mate and I remember. This person always kills themselves on the first Hook, they are playing normally, but once they are found and downed, they suicide on Hook. So you basically have to hope that they dont get found early or the game is over. So we just dodge this person whenever we end up with them in a Lobby. (Ironically enough, whenever we faced the same person as Killer, they usually camp and tunnel... Ruining matches as Survivor AND Killer is also an achievement...)

But other than those extreme cases, I dont dodge.

I mean i can still see he has a higher ceiling than nurse for less reward. Especially now with overdrive curving with engravings. You have so much more margin for error and things to master. They did lower the skill floor by a good bit. Which is good because they said the original 3 are supposed to be easy to pick up. Yet billy was definitely the hardest. Also maps are still very much part of his balance. Don't see him being S. But possibly A now.

Yeah, I mean, as I said, nerfing Billy again while Nurse can break the game feels just wrong. And I currently have a blast playing Billy, because he feels really smooth (and I dont have to use Shadowborn anymore, lol).

But even back then before his Nerf his main issues were the Chargetime and the Cooldown. Because it made missing Chainsaw Hits too forgiving, which they tried to fix with adding Overheat, but nerfing the Cooldown would have been enough. I only played against Billy once since the Patch and while it felt a bit cheap that he got me because his Overdrive kicked in right before I reached a Window, it was fine. But when playing Billy, it just feels like I can mess up too much before getting a Hit.

Considering that you had another Thread, you probably fixed it before? Did you try the same fix again? If yes, what was it?

In general, try to update your Drivers and do a fresh install of DBD.

  • The only thing I dislike is the recovery time and the Add Ons. It makes missing Chainsaw Hits too forgiveable. In theory, Overdrive makes them also too forgiveable, because it rewards you for messing up, but at least currently I cannot really see getting more Hits with Overdrive than without Overdrive, it currently messes me up quite often. But might be something that needs to be looked at in the future if people got really used to Overdrive. (Both sides)

But then again, it would be unfair to nerf BIlly again while Nurse can exist and break the game...

I'm not sure what anecdotal evidence like this is supposed to prove.

What were the survivors doing? Were key mistakes made that would've lost them the game regardless of build? Were they countering the specific combo this post is about? How much weight were Pain Res and Corrupt pulling? Without context like this, just saying "I won a bunch of games" doesn't actually mean anything.

The forum is full of anecdotal evidence, but somehow a Killer saying they just lost a game is the ultimate proof that DBD is survivor-sided, but someone saying that a certain build might be too good is anecdotal evidence.

  • I played the exact same build yesterday on almost all Killer games: Pain Res, Corrupt Intervention, DMS, Grim Embrace.

And I destroyed almost every team I faced, the only time I did not win (3K without all Gens repaired is a Win for me, because the Survivor just escaped because I was nice to not slug for the 4K) was one game with Huntress on The Game, where I got sent by the Survivors. And I am really not good at Huntress.

Other games have been with Bubba and Billy (on Billy I used Lethal Pursuer and BBQ instead of Pain Res and Corrupt) and I won all of them.

No Survivor complained about my Build, but they said it was annoying and strong. One Survivor said that if it is already painful on a "bad" Killer like Bubba, they cannot imagine it on S-Tier Killers.

And we will see it on more Killers over time. Even Eruption was not present in every game after its Buff. And while the combo is not as bad as Eruption, because the Survivor can at least do SOMETHING, it comes really close to it.

  • @StalkingYou said:

until they actually give a basekit incentive to play nice then that's going to continue to happen

This is a bad take and I always see it in Threads like this. We know from the past that incentives just dont work.

We had an incentive where people claimed it would reduce tunneling and camping - BBQ-Stacks. However, an incentive does not work when the person can still get the incentive despite not playing like it was intended to get it. BBQ obviously was intended to motive the Killer to go for different Survivors. Yet, they still could get full Stacks when tunneling. Which nullifies the incentive.

Tunneling is the best way to win the game as Killer. Reducing it to a 3v1 early is a guaranteed win. And it is also easier than going for new targets all the time. And once the game is an early 3v1, the Killer can basically just farm points for themselves, because they won.

An incentive to remove tunneling would need to be stupid strong so that Killers will basically win every game with ease without tunneling. This is simply not realistic. An incentive would only work if the problem for it (in this case - tunneling) is also nerfed heavily. And this is probably not going to happen.

  • Apparently they are intentional. Yes, not the best direction they go for.

  • Nobody can say that except for the Devs. And they have been quiet about Cross-Progression for quite some time now.

In my opinion, it is probably out of their control at this point. Probably one or multiple platforms make it hard or impossible to implement cross-progression. If it would be abandoned, the Devs would communicate this, but it is most likely out of their control.

  • I mean... Dont click on strange links in the first place. This is probably how you got hacked.

And your account did not get wrongfully banned. Your account was also distributing spam-links. It is only logical for the Discord-Staff on the DBD-Discord to ban your account.

Current meta adjustments seem to be more concerned with nerfing perks that players enjoy using instead of buffing the low tier perks.

And this is really bad, especially when it affects perks that do not require nerfs, like Adrenaline.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3638273#Comment_3638273

    This.

"Current meta adjustments seem to be more concerned with nerfing perks that players enjoy using instead of buffing the low tier perks.

And this is really bad, especially when it affects perks that do not require nerfs, like Adrenaline."

    ^ this

Adrenaline does not need a Nerf, but I feel that they think it needs to be toned down, because it is used more often than Perks which are just not as good. And the right thing should be to buff the weak Perks to a stronger Level. To give options. E.g. I think they did a good Job with Background Player. It is not weak anymore, but also not busted and you see it being used. (Yes, it sucks if a Survivor gets a Flashlight-Save with it, but I never felt that it was unfair when it happened to me)

I really wish they would put more time into just trying to buff older and weaker Perks and experiment more with them. I would not mind if they pick 5 Perks on each side and change them for a Midchapter and if they are either too strong or still too weak, change them again in the next Chapter until those 10 Perks are decent. And then move on to the next Perks.

  • As others have said, BHVR has "full" control overe the gameplay-part of a character. I write "full" because even if they can change anything related to gameplay, they can obviously not change Myers in a way that he is not true to his character anymore. E.g. you cannot suddenely make Myers pull people into a Dreamworld or let him do things which are too out of character, because in the end, it should still resemble Michael Myers.

They are just slow with changes. Myers and his Add Ons are an outdated design since forever and there should have been some changes ages ago IMO.

But it would be really bad if BHVR would not have the rights to change the balance of a character. Imagine if they by accident create a licensed Killer who is either completely OP or way too weak or just unbearable (like Skull Merchant or old Legion), and they would not be allowed to change it. Extreme example, but this shows that they cannot really afford to lose control over the gameplay-part of a character.

  • I bought him, but only because I am a completionist and because I got really nothing else to do in DBD currently. (I mean, Tome today, but they make this even easier now, so someone who plays a lot (like me) will be finished with it even quicker...)

But I will bring Alan to P9, do his Adept and thats it. Then I will probably never play him again.

I will predict that Alan Wake will be the most boring Survivor for quite a long time. Because it is a Survivor-only paragraph, yet, there was so much more stuff for Killer in this Midchapter and all Survivors got was a Skin with 3 really, really bad Perks. (And this after a Killer-only Chapter...)

Alan Wake has nothing going for it except for his franchise. Ash and Mikaela at least had strong Perks and Mikaela is one of the more popular Survivors, but I think Alan will probably be less popular than Ash in the future. Because once the people who buy every Character have finished playing with Alan, there will probably not many people buying and playing him afterwards.

  • His Recovery is too fast. There should also not Add Ons exist for that. They 100% need to go.

  • @aerie said:

i was looking forward to using just grim embrace as slowdown as it's strong and looks super fun and good to use on billy with lethal/bbq but (as an empath 😇), seeing what people are doing with these full slowdown builds, i will also carry a pitchfork and hope this stuff gets addressed.

I mean, it is obvious that people are doing that with Full Slowdown-Builds. Because going full Slowdown was always the easiest way to play, since you can prolong a game to the point where Ressources are gone and without Ressources, the Survivor can be as good as they want, they will go down pretty quickly.

I'm actually going to do the same. I never thought I'd resort to it, but desperate times call for desperate measures. The fact that it was put on a "watch list" was inadvertently an advertisement for it.

Yeah, I also try to go at least a bit off-meta (sometimes more, sometimes less). But it just baffled me that they put it on their Watch List, because it is very clear that it should not have gone to Live Servers like this. Even Grim Embrace on its own is questionable like this, but paired with DMS it is just too much.

Hey folks. To shed some light on this (no pun intended), we needed to make this change to support the new modifiers feature and the first modifier, Lights Out. Modifiers are optional and run in addition to the regular mode rather than changing normal matches, so they need their own buttons to queue up as a Killer or Survivor. There sadly would not have been enough room on the main menu to squeeze two more buttons in, so this was a necessary change to support the feature.

That said, we have noted the feedback about requiring additional steps before you can play and will pass it on to the team.

The thing is, most people already assumed it HAD to be done for the Modifiers. But I am pretty sure that I am not alone when I say that this was most likely not the best version you could have come up with, it looks more like the quickest version.

Yeah... survivor Haste stacking can completely break the game. Saw a video the other day of 2 guys running around as fast as the killer basically the whole game. At the end, the killer HAD to just let them go since he couldn't even start EGC to get the entity to kill them since there was 2 of them alive.

Yeah, I have seen this Build twice on Midwich (as Survivor, I did not run into it as Killer yet). The main problem here is that it is just unhealthy, not even too strong. One of the games the Killer just gave up (cannot blame them) and the other game the Killer tunneled me and my SWF-Mate, which was the only thing they could do.

In general, at least since Hope and MFT were used together it should have been clear that Haste-Stacking should not be a thing. IMO the only instances of Health that should be stackable are Bloodlust with one Haste-effect and the Basekit Haste after an Unhook with one Haste-effect.

But Haste given via Perks should never stack.

  • @Krazzik said:

Giving hatch is certainly not bannable, and from their build it looks like they were hiding to try and get hatch and Ada wasn't happy about that.

I'm more surprised she was using Bond and not Sole Survivor.

To be fair since either NWTH or Ultimate Weapon are present in every game, stealth Builds like this are not only used by Survivors who let their team die and wait for Hatch. With the amount of tunneling going on you really dont want to be the first Survivor found.

I would not see this Build as problematic, I think running Perks like Sole Survivor, Left Behind and Wake Up is more of an indicator that someone wants to play selfish and abandones their team.

  • The Mikaela probably went hiding at some point when it was clear that the Survivors will not win the game and Ada decided to lead you to her so that she can be killed.

This can be seen as working with the Killer, even if you two dont know each other. Personally, I would have probably killed the Ada as well, even tho I consider her behavior less unsportsmanlike compared to the Behavior of Mikaela.

To be fair. Noed got a fairly noticeable nerf with the aura reveal and Adrenaline is stronger than NWO or Blood Warden especially on coordinated SWF..

I am actually kinda surprised.. like… people actually didn’t think Adrenaline would get looked at with its state in the meta?

The problem with the NOED-Nerf is that it still feels as cheap as before and NOED is in every Endgame when it is equipped. (Yeah, yeah, cleansing Dull Totems will get rid of it... And at the same time ensure that the Killer kills the Team before 5 Gens are completed, because people waste their time cleansing Dull Totems...)

Adrenaline only has an impact when the Match reaches the point where 5 Gens are completed and even then the impact might not be too big (I often get Adrenaline when repairing a Gen while being healthy... So I only get the Speedboost).

Personally, I hope that Mangled will be gutted in the same patch, because this would make it certainly easier to get away from Adrenaline.

  • This was to be expected. I will abuse the ######### out of this combo so that it can be changed as fast as possible. Should not have gone to Live Servers like this anyway.

  • @Sngfun said:

I just don't get why they wouldn't do the changes now??? like what do they need a seconds ptb for. I am just really confused.

I can only speculate, but I think it is easier for them to see the result of the Add On-changes first before changing the Basekit as well. They probably wanted to change both (Basekit and Add Ons), but only pushed the Add Ons to Live for now and the impact of this will determine how much Blight will be changed. If Blight keeps stomping Survivors left and right, the changes will be more significant than if Blight is noticeable weaker than before due to the Add On-Nerfs (which will most likely not be the case, lets be real, he still has many strong Add Ons).

That being said, even a change to Blight should not happen as long as Nurse is even more busted.

Yes quite a few times i've been accused of hacking by a survivor when playing Legion. I run halfway across the map and pull them out of a locker. How other than hacking could I possibly know they are there? Legion's Feral Frenzy that's how.

This is true, people often forget that coincidence can just exist. That the Killer knows that the Survivor is in a specific Locker or behind a specific rock might seem strange to the Survivor, but can only be coincidence. (And I actually prefer if Survivors report something like this. From their PoV it might be either hacking or coincidence, but if it happens over multiple matches, the Devs can at least check if something fishy is going on)

    @LordGlint said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3627284#Comment_3627284

You actually have people who openly post videos of themselves using cheats. Sometimes those cheats are obvious like going super fast while other times, the viewers only know because we can see the wallhacks.

Yeah, I know those people. Pretty disgusting. But often enough you dont even actually see them use cheats, e.g. there was a videoe of Hens regarding a Wesker who was cheating and it was only really visible because he was facing towards Survivors who were behind walls.

But I still think most of the people who claim to go against Cheaters might just mistake something for Cheats. And this is why video-proof would be nice to have. I got reported by a Spirit a few months ago for using OTR, because she did not know that it does remove grunts of pain. Also got reported for playing Huntress, because I grabbed someone out of a locker they were hiding while I was just reloading (they reported me for Wallhacks, because I kicked the Gen nearby and they thought I could see them with NWTH in the locker...).

  • The Hatch is already super-weak, the Killer can (almost completely) deny it via slugging and they have the higher chance of finding the Hatch. The Survivor can only be lucky.

It does not need further nerfs.

So... you reply with a completely pointless comment? At no point did I make a joke.

Oh, sorry, I did not think that you were serious about your post.

Yeah, I would say this is a non-issue. The average Survivor apparently does not even know that they have to do Gens, do you really think they will figure out such a strategy?

It was just a flat-out Buff because the Devs thought they have to give Killers something back when they limit the Regression-Events. Truth is, the Devs would not have needed to give a compensation, but yet there is another freebie.

  • @LordGlint said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3637395#Comment_3637395

They probably are trying to avoid survivors making a strategy around a killer hitting the 8 regressions. It wouldn't surprise me if it became normal to put a slight amount of progress on each gen you pass, just so random surge procs start hitting gens that realistically didn't have progress. This would be pointless in normal gameplay, but all of a sudden have a point when players know there's a limit to those regressions and deleting them early for no real benefit can come in handy later.

People have a tendency of changing the way they play to Game a mechanic HARD. Sabo became SUPER common when the basekit unbreakable PTB came out. Killers who wouldn't have slugged survivors were forced to do just that.

The things you make up are not even funny.

With a limited amount of kicks, the buff just gives a fair recourse for killer. If it does become a problem, I'm sure BHVR will fix it.

And I would not say that's comparable at all, the changes were made because killer now has limited kicks/regression events. A fairer example would be if they kept MFT but gave all the killers a 3% haste basekit as compromise, or something along those lines.

And even then it's what, an extra 3 seconds you repair? Just repair when the killer leaves. When I tested it all in the PTB, I was able to get that 5% done and then some before they came back when a 3 gen was attempted.

The limited amount of Kicks dont matter if they are not reached anyway most of the time.

Sure, there will be some Killer who claims they kick Gens 32 times each game. But in the majority of the games it will not happen and the Devs also went for 8 Regression Events because it is a rare occurence that so many Regression events are reached.

It is just a flat-out buff which was neither needed nor asked for.
