It isn't unfounded or outdated. Most people who actually have a decent amount of hours into the game and play both sides at rank 1 understand this.
And it is very rare I even get a full red rank lobby as survivor with the matchmaking these days. A full lobby of rank 1 survivors on a good map will usually stomp any killer, but that's almost never the case.
Half my games as survivor, or killer even, include some rank 15's that completely ruin the game by getting slaughtered and feeding snowball perks to the killer.
Not to mention the suboptimal pallet usage by poor players. You can be as good of a survivor as you want, but if you are caught in a dead zone, you are going down.

The in game antics I personally do not find toxic. They want to do it, go for it. Its the messages that is truly the toxic actions here and this is what needs to stop. I hope you reported the idiot who made the comments. They need to be banned.
I don't even get the notion of toxic survivors. Against a really good killer, you literally won't even have time to teabag because you are running pallet to pallet to save your life.
The worst you can do is click a flashlight, and that means you are not running a far superior item like a toolbox or a key.

Based on observations alone you see in most red rank killer's that's not the case. Once you hit rank 8 with Killer, every single one complains that the biggest problem in game is that all they face is swf, and optimal survivors who do nothing but harass and bully killers - making the game borderline unplayable and require to play survivor just for a break against the consistent bad games.
Like I want to know how individual their so called "statistic's" are, because it looks like either they were taken far too blanketed, or are straight up lies to try and calm the masses.
In addition these statistic's everyone keep referring to were made several patches ago, and changes have been made - greatly in the survivor sided favor. I mean - I'm a survivor who should have a hard time getting out of green, that's where I place my skill, but i'm already almost to red rank since yesterday.
I play against "toxic" SWFs all the time at rank 1, and typically all they do is get murdered. There are only a handful of players I recognize as being godly loopers, and when they get into a group, I know to put all the killer crutches on in an attempt to beat them.

You are saying it yourself. The game is balanced around survivors not being good at the game, so against 4 optimal survivors no killer has a chance. The game needs to be balanced around good survivors facing good killers and the ranking needs to be reworked to match these people with each other.
Also what do you mean by "good guys need an advantage"? This isn't a movie, this is a game.
There are plenty of characters the killer can play that will absolutely destroy anyone if played well, regardless of survivor skill. Spirit comes to mind.
The game is balanced around bad players facing other bad players, because most players are bad. Do you think the game should be balanced around the top 1% of players, or the other 99%? Which do you think will make more money?
-
@NullEXE said:
That's the biggest issue in the game in my opinion. It's so unbalanced it's created a lot of entitled mindsets that makes many survivors very toxic, even when they do get their way.
I mean cmon, you do kinda want the good guys to have an advantage. The game is balanced around solo Q, and it's only really a problem if all 4 survivors are very good players, or are SWF and also good players.
That's usually not the case, so most matches are in the killer's favor. There is a reason every killer has above a 50% kill rate.

Wake up as often as you can, pallet freddy is not that scary when you memorize which pallets are real before you fall asleep.
Snare freddy is very scary and you should keep waking yourself up with the clocks so at least he has to M1 you before he can begin the snare spam.
There is no real looping snare freddy once you are asleep, it's usually just a matter of time until you go down unless you can keep moving tiles, which is not possible on many maps.
I always hop into lockers when my team is getting hooked because every freddy runs BBQ, and he will instantly teleport to your gen to pop it.

That is the counter play... Finding it first.
If you just stand there and do nothing they escape... so you better find it first.
Do you really slug for the 4k these days? You can literally play an entire extra match in the time it takes to try and find the 4th survivor.

Assuming 1 match earns 60k bp, that's only 10 matches with 2 brown add-ons. And you know what? Brown add-ons don't do much (with few exception, i use these add-ons like pallet freddy)
Since they don't do much, i just play with no add-ons because i feel no difference.
Brown add-ons are still very significant.
https://deadbydaylight.gamepedia.com/Rope_Necklet https://deadbydaylight.gamepedia.com/Swamp_Orchid_NeckletI will use that as an example. Fast traps for hag is 25% for a brown, and 35% for a green.

Not everyone P3 every survivors and killers lol. Hell, i haven't even levelled up all characters to lv 50, even i already have 400 in-game hours.
Sometimes you need to think about casual players.
I have only P3'd 1 killer and 1 survivor. Survivors are just skins, and the only killer I truly like to play is ghostface. But even then, it does not change the fact that you can get enough add-ons for 10 games with a single match of using BBQ.

I don't use add-ons because I don't like finite items. Also, i want to spend my blood points on other things, not just the killer i play.
As I said, a brown add-on costs you 3k points. You can get 50k in a match with just BBQ alone. It is practically unlimited offerings.
What else is there to spend the bloodpoints on once you hit P3? Survivor items? I can have items last 5-6 games, which is probably 100k points as well.
I don't even know what to do with all my items and offerings, sometimes I just spam mori's because I have so many.

His traps are easy to spot. Hag has a lot more freedom, if we compare the two.
That's why trapper is bad. You cannot be creative with traps against good players unless you are running the tar bottle. And you basically need a trapper bag at all times to stay competitive, and if you are running a trapper bag and tar bottles, then people are liable to get out of your traps within 5 seconds with some bad RNG.
You are limited to putting them in bushes without a tar bottle.

I’m sorry to say, but it seems like you don’t know much about Hag. Good teams will expose the way you play Hag. No question.
Webs and chains is how you snowball as Hag, which leads to multiple downs and hooks which = pressure.
Spamming traps at gens and hooks will never allow you to master Hag. That’s like rank 7 stuff quite frankly.
The only thing that "exposes" me when I play hag is multiple people running object of obsession, which screws over many killers as well as hag. I play hag at rank 1 all the time, and have posted screenshots on this forum already to prove it.
She is one of the most braindead and overpowered killers in the game in my opinion. No other killer can I be chain slugging across the entire map with. She also has a wealth of super overpowered add-ons to use.
-
With BBQ and a bloodpoint offering, I can get upwards of 80-90k points per match playing as killer.
It boggles my mind that some people refuse to even run brown add-ons as killer when you get enough points to run them every game with a single down in many cases.

I doubt I can keep this civil, nothing wrong on your end, I'm just getting frustrated, so let us agree to disagree
You must not be very good with your bottle tosses. Clown can make almost any loop in the game unsafe, especially with bamboozle and bleach or ether add-ons.
And with brutal you cut through all the pallets at lightning speed. His main weakness is needing to reload every chase, and having no mobility. But his chase is some of the best in the game if you can land the bottles.
-

And I have numerous games of me wrecking people at Rank 1 with Leatherface. Doesn't mean Bubba is top tier.
You got a fairly favorable map that is easy to 3-gen on. Not only that, that streamer was boosted. He didn't even try to loop from the clip I watched, he just ran, didn't even through the pallet.
How to counter Clown. Step 1) Loop for as long as you can. Step 2) Stun with pallet. Step 3) Run to next pallet.
There are normally enough pallets that Survivor's don't really have to worry about it.
Bubba is one of the best facecampers in the entire game. You can 1 hook a whole team if you get early downs. He didn't throw the pallet because he knew he was going to get hit, that's how you know he was a good player. A noob throws the pallet when they are going to get hit anyways. I personally don't even throw pallets until I am already injured.
I always run brutal on clown. Because you can't do anything to a good clown except feed him pallets.
-
@Pulsar said:
Huge disagree with Legion and Clown. You must be new to the game, they are both extremely loopable.
Clown is one of the most unloopable killers in the game if built correctly. Bamboozle, brutal strength, and bleach + 15% ether bottles along with some good aim and knowing when to zone or when to directly hit the survivor with the bottles? Nobody is getting away from you.
Watch this video from like 15m in. That's me dumping on some people with clown, and honestly, I missed a ton of bottle tosses and still 4k'd.

You literally spam down traps at gens and hooks, then spam control when one goes off and hit M1 for your free hit. Bonus points if you have enough brain cells to do it at a 3 gen.

Who said anything about chasing? As Hag you create chains and webs with your traps. You don’t just camp hooks and gens.
I’ve made posts about Hag and have a lot of hours and knowledge about her. The way you explain playing her sounds a lot worse than she is. Even if we agree she’s a top tier killer.
Smart teams don’t sandbag hooks immediately anyways. Especially if they know it’s a hag, so I don’t understand this point.
And where do you think those "webs and chains" should exist? Near the objectives? Or out in the middle of nowhere? Quit making it sound more fancy than it is.

I agree Hag is one of the best, but not from all of you’re reasoning. Especially the camping part. If you’re camping as Hag you’re either not good, or for some reason you’re pissed off, which is dumb to do anyhow.
Flashlights I agree with, along with more points to it.
I agree with the UE.
Camping is literally her power. Either you are camping gens, or you are camping hooks. There is no other way to use it effectively. If you are a chasing hag that is pretty bad and you will only down poor survivors.
Hag sets up a minefield, and waits for people to come into it. If you leave that minefield, you wasted all the time setting it up. It is the same with trapper, but hag is the trapper on steroids.
She is so effective at camping because while patrolling a hook, if you hit someone, they cannot bum rush with BT because they will hit a trap and go down as well, feeding you even more pressure. Most killers you can blindly rush a hook with BT and be fine, but not with a prepared hag.

Addon reliance vs skill.
Hag can have her power essentially removed by flashlights and urban evasion. Clown is only B due to the broken visual while intoxicated. Other than that he would be a C tier as he is addon reliant as well. The Huntress fits the same boat, would be a C if not for hitboxes working in favor of the hatchet over the survivor. She is addon reliant as well with many using exhaustion hatchets or iri head with infantry belt
The Hag also moves at 4.4 compared to Clown's 4.6. Combine that with the power to close loops, you have to slow down much more to place a trap at a loop as the Hag over just quick throwing a bottle as the Clown.
As I said, Clown truly only gets B due to annoyance level.
I would put hag as one of the best killers in the game, even against SWFs using flashlights. They can only disarm your traps if they know where they are, and you should really not be following someone around spamming traps at loops anyways.
Once you get your first hook with her, you can either camp ridiculously hard; laying 10 traps around the hook. Or you can use MYC and basically force people to set off the traps or they will get 1 shot as you return to the hook from 32m.
Most SWF are going to be using the meta builds, and not urban evasion.
-
@Blueberry said:
Clown and Legion are both way down in F tier.
Also regarding Legion, "but if played right can even take strong swf to their knees.". Not even remotely.
How is legion in F tier? You are basically the same as plague, only needing a single M1 hit to get a down. You can slap spirit fury or bamboozle on him/her and shut down any loops if you can't mindgame or don't want to deal with god windows.
Plague is insane against SWF since you can camp with impunity if people don't cleanse, for the same reasons as legion. You can't save against a camp if you are injured.
Clown is also beastly if built correctly and using some good add-ons. It is almost impossible to do anything except feed pallets to a bleach clown who can land his bottles. I would not take him against a SWF, but against solo Q he is more than sufficient.

I hate Knockout as a Survivor, so I'll probably never use it. I used it once against a team with 2 deranked bullies that I had encountered before. Some of those ones that derank to purposefully bully low rank Killers. They did not appreciate Knockout + Franklin's + Lightborn w/ a Purple Mori. I let the other two newer players farm and go afterwards. Right now I'm just looking for Perks to swap in/out and get some use out of instead of the meta ones.
There's a lot of combos that work well on this or that Killer, so while I'm max'ing, I can try different loadouts and see if I find something I enjoy playing with. Third Seal was the next one on my list to try out. Gonna mess around with Surge, and a few others to see if they work with how I play or not.
Half the fun is in the experimentation.
I would not use it without a map offering. It works extremely well on a map like Lery's, where it will be almost impossible to find the slugs once everyone has been hit with third seal. The slugs themselves won't know where anyone is, and basically everyone just crawls around for 4 minutes until they die. I combine it with thanatophobia since there will be multiple injured survivors crawling around.
It is a very mean build, but totally ignored by the SWF groups that are typically way more toxic and deserving of mean builds than the solo Q players.
-
Third seal and knockout are a nightmare for solo Q players, but ignored by SWF on comms. If you want to grief solo Q players go ahead and use them though.
-
It's decent on ghostface, to stop people sprint bursting directly off generators after you expose them. It needs to be combined with at least pop to keep the gens under 50% as long as possible.
Other than that? It's meh.
-
I've literally been 2 tapping purple rank survivors, survivor rank means almost nothing right now.

similarly, in DBD, you don't just stand there while he build up his exposure on you, you run away and focus on him.
There's still plenty of times I get revealed while completely in cover, or can stalk a survivor I can't even see through objects.

Oh bonus points if you wanna follow some of the hypocritcal big streamers / youtubers. I had monto calling me toxic for tombstoning him and his girlfriend.

The thing is 95% of the playerbase is bad
Maybe on a map like the preschool or Thompson house, but you will still be burning pallets pretty fast against a good billy.
Get shelter woods or sanctum of wrath against a really good billy? You may as well throw in the towel.

Honestly I'm not counting on map reworks..they've proven to not be enough at all..clown is very limited on what we can do for him outside a full rework..I like the idea of each reload has notches on the meter..each notch is a bottle..so they reload one by one..each bottle left is one less notch, therefore a faster reload speed..and you can reload just one or two bottles if your in chase to reduce time waste
Be careful what you wish for. We could end up getting 5 versions of Haddonfield or 5 versions of the Thompson house.
And really, just run the cork stopper. It cuts the reload in half.
-
The fact clown has less bottles than huntress has hatchets is kind of a joke to me.
He isn't that bad though, and can be powerful with the right build and add-ons. But you need to be on point with the bottle tosses, every time, as well as be willing to slug / camp / tunnel / etc.
Bleach bottles + ether 15% are pretty nasty if you are landing them. Makes almost every loop unsafe as long as you are hitting them.
His reload add-on is probably the most underrated of them all, and lets you reload mid-chase. His biggest weakness is needing to stop to reload every 20 seconds.

True, good players won't put themselves in That position. But also his reaction to the wraith is also worth noting.
These YouTubers also stream which will include footage of them getting stomped. Just need to be bothered to look for the footage.
It is extremely rare. And when they do upload videos of them losing, it's usually after some epic struggle. I don't think I've ever seen someone upload a video where they load in, get downed in 30 seconds, and then get 1 hooked and camped in the basement or something similar.
That's just your typical cocky survivor player. A good wraith will probably be rocking bamboozle or spirit fury to make themselves unloopable. I like bamboozle, it's a bit harder to use, but only takes 1 perk slot.
There's tons of games I have super cocky survivors who just get absolutely butchered, because they are used to going against players like that wraith.

And that's a result not of your personal skill, but largely of the fact that even a potato can make it to rank 1 on the current survivor ranking system, meaning chances are you aren't getting paired with actual red rankers
Yet I have killed almost every single popular streamer that exists in the game. I probably have tombstoned monto like 15 times now, though I never see him anymore. I go up against the sweatiest 4 man SWFs that exist, and they block me because I stomp on them.
It's not because I know every single loop in the game, how to run them, have thousands of hours, know how to build a killer well, etc etc. It's just the ranking system.

I also use CI, however if you actually read what I linked, you'd have a better mechanical understanding of the game, something you clearly sorely lack out of willful ignorance
And I play at rank 1 on both sides, and 4k the overwhelming majority of my killer games. You can probably 3-4k 95% of the time if you know what you are doing in this game. I have just linked you the proof.
A good killer can jump into a game and 4k with no perks, at rank 1. I've done it, I've seen it done. Ruin is just a crutch, and heavily reliant on RNG. It's as simple as that.

Watch someone like this guy.

-
That was just a bad wraith? Good killers will never get flashlighted in the open like that, and I have no idea why he kept trying to go back into cloak.

Ye, lemme just avoid that when they get downed close to it, whew, what a big brain play. Also 2 people on gens is more than enough to crank it out within a single person's hook time, meaning you will actively depip and lose rank, making it, by default, a bad play.
That's really your own fault for letting it get to late game in the first place. You can run powerful perks like NOED that will let you secure endgame kills almost always, if you find yourself getting there a lot of the time.
Also rank means nothing in this game, and I will take a 4k safety pip over a 2-3k pip.
-
@Mringasa said:
New Killers call it "securing the kill" not realizing how badly it affects BP and emblem gain. Camping is a legit strategy at times, but you are better off patrolling. As has been shown in many wars, speed and mobility is a winner. Sitting on your ass around a campfire will not win you much of anything but salt.
Even if they are a toxic PoS, it's better not to camp because then you are just giving them what they want. Attention that mommy and daddy didn't give to them. Just hook em and move on along to the next victim. Just be sure to check around the vicinity for any lemmings that might be rushing in for the save.
Any seasoned killer is probably not going to care much about points, or emblems. If I want points, I slap on BBQ and a pudding/streamer and can get upwards of 80-90k a game. If I don't have BBQ, the build is made for a 4k. Emblems are a joke and you can 4k depip if you don't play the game nice enough.
Securing your kills is a way to win, same with tunneling weak survivors off the hook. It's usually not worth it to camp from 1st hook to dead, but 2nd hook to dead? Absolutely.
Tunneling someone off if they don't have DS and are bad in a chase? That is optimal killer gameplay.

Deliverance requires a SINGLE unhook to proc, you get 8 chances, there's no reason you shouldn't be getting it to proc unless you're slugged.
I already assume people have DH, the problem is that it can literally take a chase, and extend it by easily another 30-60 seconds if they use it to get to a god loop.
Ah yes the ole, you must be camping. How about the fact that people straight up rush the hook and intentionally wedge themselves into it or loop you nearby just so BT procs?
I can't count the number of times someone's been BT'd out the gate because the gates are open and instead of leaving, they just get a free victory card. There's no counter to that.
While the build may rely on teammates, it can definitely cost a killer an entire match if one person brings it, let alone 4.
If someone if trying to hook tech you, you can just stand there until the guy on the hook dies. They can't unhook if you don't swing; you don't need any more pressure because that's half the team doing nothing already. I have people try it on me all the time, and it usually costs them the game.
And what do you think you are doing at the endgame when you get hit with the BT? Desperately camping for your kill, which is what BT is meant to counter. You can still camp out a kill even if they have deliverance unless they are literally hooked right next to the exit gate, which you should try to avoid.
-
@EZ5k said:
As I mentioned in another post. One of the biggest contributors to killer frustration is perk balance. It's simply insane how many times you have to rewin your same match because survivors are running BT+DS+Deliverance+DH. That loadout alone can win someone a game without even factoring the map into the equation, which more often than not, will cause a chase to be insanely long and frustrating, especially when there isn't a counter for anything in that loadout other than just swinging and hoping you don't get rewarded with an I frame.
Of course there is. Deliverance requires you to unhook someone before it can be used, so even if everyone has it, not everyone will be able to use it. It is also relatively worthless if you get hooked early, even if it is up. It is mainly for being able to escape the basement, do an endgame trade, or save yourself when there's only 2 survivors left.
The times I am able to make a crazy endgame deliverance play and the killer eats all of those perks at once is because they have not even hooked me the entire game.
Dead hard is relatively easy to counter unless they are dead harding for distance, just assume everyone has it unless you see them with another exhaustion perk and play around that.
You will only get hit with BT if you are camping. DS is overpowered though, I will agree on that. 60 seconds is way too long in a game that can last 4-5 minutes.
That build also brings no situational awareness or stealth, so you will be very reliant on your team to survive, and will also be practically unable to lose the killer during a chase.

Some food for thought, is depipping and staying at low ranks really a punishment? I mean they stay with new survivors who don't know better where this strat works best and keep harvesting an easy 20k+ BPS? While continueing to ruin the game for new players?
If that is the punishment, than wow! Real effective
Yes, because new players should expect to get dumped on anyways.
Sacrificing the 2000+ hour survivors like they are noobs is way more rewarding, and way more salty.

If you struggle for an M1 then you need to get better at the game, simply put.

It's called slapping on spirit fury.
Hillbilly is super strong, probably could use some nerfs to some of his insta-saw add-ons. Even if you can't hit back-revs, he is one of the best killers in the game just because he can patrol the map so quickly.
Hag is very overpowered if you are willing to play scummy. But most people don't know how to play her very well.

Do you report death threats or do you just laugh it off?
I don't even care about it at all. I've heard literally everything before. From people wishing death on my family, to my parents not loving me, to hoping I get killed before new years, etc etc.
Some of the better ones are people calling me bad when they literally got 2 tapped by a 110 killer like hag. Or people calling me a camper when they are trying to exploit under the hook, to which my response is to stand there until the guy on the hook hits half, or they give up and I can smack them.
I had some billy earlier complaining I would sprint burst away to safe buildings every time he found me, instead of getting sawed in dead zones. "Jake you coward!"
Those are always funnier to me than just pure salt.

@Rivyn It always wonders me how so many people can get this amount of death threats in the after-game chat.
I don't think that this is always only the first or second time that these players write stuff like that. They must have been reported countless times.
I get people telling me to kill myself every now and then. Ironically, they usually killed themselves on hook, so I make sure to point that out to them.

I'll counter yours with mine from last night. Was gen rushed to the max, popped in a little over five minutes on the Wretched Shop. Some pretty good loopers, though they did keep gunning for the infinite. Finally got one in the basement, and he wasn't happy. It's not shown, but he was using the N word before hand.

On a side note, when are we nerfing those meta survivor perks? They're used in 80% of the games, which is a basis used by the devs, right? /s
I don't really like infectious fright on plague without running an apple as well, because even if everyone is still injured, really good survivors are going to make you fight for an M1 hit, and you won't be able to chain slug them without your power up.
She is also not very mobile, so BBQ is a waste for the most part unless you want points. I would get pop into your build, so that they have to keep working through the 16% thanta slow multiple times. I usually do bamboozle + corrupt + thanta + pop on her.

I don't think I can play a match without getting salt.
Look at this dude with a key complaining about devour hope of all things.

What's wrong with mentioning those killers? You just listed 3 killers that have good synergy with the perk.
In addition to the ones listed,
- doctor : you can use madness to pressure off of generators.
- bubba: you can slug survivors to force survivors through altruism off of generators
- freddy: you can use his ability of teleporting/faking teleportation to get survivors off of generators. Thrilling tremors, ruin, surveillance, pop goes the weasel is a god tier build where you can force survivors off of generator by faking a teleport then blocking it with thrilling tremor and while it's blocked it will be regressing and if ruin is broken then you can use pop to get that pressure you need.
- Legion: can apply deep wound to survivors forcing them off of generators. Let's not forget Iridescent Button which will push survivors off generators every time feral frenzy is applied to any killer.
- Pig: any survivor with a head trap on cannot work gens. And it counters a common swf tactic to hold off on popping a generator to allow a survivor to get the headtrap off and working another nearby generator.
- Wraith: when using the boneclapper add-on will make survivors paranoid everytime it's activated. Wraiths often spam bell to pressure survivors already. That tactic works even better now.
New Ruin's power is comparable to most perks in the game, however, it's not comparable to old Ruin a perk used in 80 percent of red rank games. But is it a surprise that the rework isn't as powerful as old ruin. If you feel that old ruin is needed for balance then stop complaining about ruin and start talking about base kit changes to killer.
Forcing people off gens over and over doesn't really work unless you are a sloppy butcher hag or a trapper. You need to commit and down people eventually.
A lot of really good survivors will be rocking spine chill or sprint burst as well, so unless you hard commit to them, you will almost never down them with hit-and-run tactics.
I am going to treat the new ruin the same as huntress lullaby, something to be ignored unless it's a lategame threat. But I use keys, so by then it's probably almost an escape anyways.

Pretty easy to play, really you only need to get an M1 hit for your downs.
Thanta + dying light is S tier on him/her. Thanta because it's easy to quickly injure multiple people, and dying light because the free botany knowledge it gives the obsession is irrelevant when you frenzy people anyways.
Pop is good on any killer, and I have been using corrupt over ruin lately to prepare for the ruin nerf.
