  • A mistake.

Survivors getting punished for completing their objectives.

  • I got ps plus recently and purchased for free titanfall 2, which I'm playing more than DbD

lol... of course you're more eager to critique my gameplay than admit the fng point is correct.

My build is my build for my own reasons that game. The build is irrelevant. The point is the doors should have been already open or there should have been someone by them waiting to open them for people being chased trying to escape. They could open the door and run behind the person needing protection.

Bloodwarden would not be an issue. The fact that I could have paused to let him hit me while BT was active is a fair critique. Thanks. But again, not the point. If the door was opened correctly I would have escaped regardless. Isn't that what this is about? Doing the most things you can to help your team win? Are you actually going to argue that it made more sense to stand at the top of the stairs and watch... vs stand at the door and pop it when needed and then take a hit for the injured survivor at the door? Just take survivor perks out of the picture and assume that's my 2nd hook... I get pulled off and run to the door while being chased... I shouldn't have to veer off to open the damn thing myself. Period.

Oh and for the record, I escaped eventually.

The build is not the problem, is that you didn't take the bt hit for sprint bonus.

The game doesn't have to be adecuated for you, YOU have to be adecuated for it, and nothing is gonna change because you did a mistake and you don't want to admit it.

And yes we criticise your post a lot because we are not going to aplause you for a bad play you did.

It's like saying: the exam was hard and that's why I must get a high mark, even tho you didn't study and you got a 0 but anyways you're right and everyone else is not. (just a example)

Please take note 99ing is a good tactic, don't kill your teammates opening them completely if it's not needed.

  • They might have been working on lery's before haddonfield, and haddonfield is also gettibg reworked atm as you can see in Paulie Esther's video. As the same way they reworked freddy and his map, and Doctor was next, then the priority is doctor and his map. Also, at the same time they are making map reworks, they have to add new maps, and making a map from cero with only the texture prepared is hard.

Here's Paulie's video btw (it also includes a possible new variant of the swamp, so the work to do is even bigger):

Just to be clear, are you suggesting that having a larger number of programmers working on a game is a bad thing because it creates a case of "too many cooks"?

    Having more than needed

  • @twistedmonkey said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/948810#Comment_948810

Of course you don't thats not the point.

The point is one company has so much more resources in terms of money and manpower. Being able to have 6 times as many coders working on one game will make a huge difference to the support it can have. That's just simple math and logic.

Having more and more coders actually ends being confusing and a lot of more cooperation between everyone at the same time

  • Completely. Let's just take overwatch as a example.

Normal mode is always fine and the chat ends being just gg, while at ranked mode a guy rages at you for taking one character or not doing better than him, then you report and you come up the next day starting the game with a meddage telling you a thanks for the repirt and actions has been made to that guy.

  • Most likely every ranked gamemode is, but dbd is fully ranked mode

  • Because it has been like this for 3 years without problem and for some reason people is having the genrush problem now

  • Wait, I only could get the argument that "the game is survivor sided because they buy skins and doesn't quit the game for 2 years and a half"

  • Wdym I always get 3 or 4k on all my matches at red ranks, plus double pips very frequent.

And check the graphic where it says that it's perfectly fine killing, over other killers

How would you define popularity, if not by "interest in the game"?

    Popularity-people playing it

Interest-the capacity of make people play it

  • @twistedmonkey said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/948788#Comment_948788

    The edits mean nothing.

BHVR's earnings in 2018 were stated to be around 109 million which helps fund not only this game but many including other projects for the future. DBD alone is said to have brought in around 35 million of that.

Epic in 2018 made 2.4 billion which again funds many other things.

You can see a vast difference between the two companies.

DBD team is rumoured to be around 100+ while fornites is over 700. Again a vast difference.

It's clear why one can do a lot more than the other as in terms if hours worked on fortune can have 6 or 7 times as much.

You don't need to pay a guy 2 billion dollars to release an update earlier. Simply as that

I don't care that you don't think money matters, because it does. I'm not saying don't compare Epic and BHVR, I'm just saying be careful what you wish for.

You read wrong. I mean that bhvr has enough money and they act like if they haven't

  • @twistedmonkey said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/948773#Comment_948773

But they can't be compared as they don't have the same resources to work on the game itself.

If multiple people disagree then maybe it's not them that is seeing it wrongly?

If one store has 2 employees on a check out compared to another having 20 which one serves the customers faster? Its common sense to see why a company with more resources is able to do a lot more within a set time frame.

You simply cannot compare two companies unless they have an equal number of people working on a game and even then without it being the same game there are multiple differnet aspects between them.

Please read my edits 4 and 5 on the main post regarding to this

    1. Fornite is much less complicated than DbD, so it's much easier to make quick adjustments.

    2. Epic Games is bigger than BHVR, both in staff and budget, which half of how they can be constantly making new stuff...

    3. The other half of that is that Epic Games is always in crunch time. Their programs are constantly being pushed to do more work in less time, and after the initial enthusiasm wears off, they quit because of the huge workload or are fired for not meeting it. And there are so many talented young computer specialists who would love to work on one of the biggest games in the world, so they never run out of new labor. Aside from the fact that Epic Games is exploiting its workers, I'd rather have a dev team that's been with the game from the start and really cares about it and the community than a ferris wheel of programmers getting whipped by Mathieu Cote.

Pls read my edit 4 and 5

Fornite came out at the time when battle royale was taking off.

Pubg paved the way and showed how popular the format could be and fortnite used that existing formula and expanded upon it. It was made ftp while others were still pay to play along with graphical options which weren't as harsh so even weaker system could run it.

Epic were simply smart in what they did and how with the existing formula. They didn't create something from scratch but used what was there and added a building mechanic.

You can't compare a billion dollar company to DBD. Not to mention epic aren't that great a company as they have been many reports of staff being mistreated working long hours without a choice.

DBD is a very niche game with a small dev team. They started with around 30+ staff and now BHVR have over 100+ but not all work on DBD. It's about resources and time and DBD is far from what Epic have.

This is akin to comparing a locally owned store to a huge chain store like Wal-Mart and asking why they are more expensive.

I still do compare both companies. Having less doesn't mean you update a game every 2 months instead of less time to fix it and still have it broken but your company doesn't care and just go party hard expensive plus giving ipads and google homes to every single one and upload it on insta.

Behaviour is clearly not poor. See the steam stats and watch the top 15 most sold in 2019 qnd plus it with the DLCs and auric cells sellings

I don't know why you just like to pull information out of your ass, but here's some actual statistical information on PUBG's & Fortnites player bases at the time:

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/040/5TF134DLXK0D.jpg

PUBG was a more popular game than Fortnite for a decent portion of 2017. You're saying it never was more popular, when it actually was. Despite it being a worse game, it was still at a point more popular than Fortnite. Exactly why popularity does not equal a better game.

    Also:

"The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is a 2015 action role-playing game"

1- you sent data about interest on the game, not popularity, plus that's from 2017 and fortnute still ends better

2 - I repeat, I played the witcher 3, you didn't, I'm telling you there are still scary monsters and scenes.

Literally comparing EPIC GAMES to a (in a sense) brand new studio.

There is definitely a lot more that goes into Dead By Daylight and don't even get me started on the monetary backing FN gets over DBD.

Comparing a third person shooter to a first person/ third person horror game is like comparing apples to oranges. DBD will NEVER be as popular as FN and while it can be frustrating to deal with certain mechanics and bugs at times, the vast majority of the players understand that the devs are working their butts off to give us a fun and stable product we can enjoy.

    Go play Fortnite.

I'm not comparing the genres. Please read the post before commenting. I compare how the devs of both games develop the game. I'm not comparing that you can use guns in one and the other one is horror.

Someone deaf or someone who wants to play with music

As much as I dislike the game fortnite, I have to admit and give credits to the developers at epic. Epic is really doing a lot to keep their customers happy. Probably one of the big reasons why this game became so popular as it is now. And in the direct comparison: dbd looks really bad.

This comment is 100% a fact.

Also, look how that dev answered with the joke of "my game is better than yours''. It' s just childish, and looking at fortnite, they even did agreements with other games, and even films. Closing your game to yourself ends on not being opened for more people

More players absolutely does not mean a better game. Because PUBG was more popular than Fortnite, was it a better game? ABSOLUTELY NOT. The game was insanely bug ridden, while Fortnite was far more polished.

Secondly, DBD is not played by a huge amount of people like CoD is. The reason why games like CoD and Overwatch make new games under the same name is not because they have to, but because they WANT to. It is far more profitable to reskin, add a few things here and there and sell it as a new game for far more profit. Pushing out people and almost forcing them to buy a new game is because it is a smart decision profit wise.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/608/VXLCN3RYHART.jpg

6/10 are shooters, GTA can very much be considered a shooter as well. None of the games in the top 10 are horror.

Did you play the witcher? It has monsters and stuff, and there are some scary scenes in the game.

Also, pubg was never more popular than Fortniter, if that was true, the recorst would be beaten by pubg and not fortnite.

And a game is clearly better and more popular than other when more people play it and doesn't have to make a new version as a separated game instead of updating it.

    Yes?

Would make it a worse game??? No

  • @deadbyhitbox said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/946879#Comment_946879

Yes, the genre absolutely makes a difference. More players = more revenue. Some genres have more players than others, and typically, horror games don't have a large playerbase. This, thankfully was one of the standouts.

Name 3 horror games that are even close to being as big as 3 of the most well known gun games. Like I said, genre has an undeniable effect on how well a game can sell.

Wrong. More players=better game than others. Better game=Devs decided right.

You left me that give me 3 names without comparing them to other exactly games, but see by yourself how dbd is still played by a huge amount of people, why others, as COD or now Overwatch are making new separate games with the same name. In the case of COD, people leave the last game and buy the new one, making all of them cancelled.

Logically though for then to redo it. They would most likely have to redo the game from scratch and reoptomize it for everything.

But even if they had to do it, it would end better

  • @YaiPa said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/946856#Comment_946856

Well no. You kept saying that they listen to the community because they introduced battle Royale, but no, that was just their last chance to save a mediocre game. I can name many fortnite "pro player" because they change many things, ruining the game (for example, it's not very fair to play against people with aimbot just because crossplay). Again, all the money comes from the skin market, that's it.

You really didn't read well. You invented that. I didn't say that the community asked for a battle royale and their devs did. I say that fortnite looked for the best for the players and made the right choices.

You also invented the "aimbot" part. It's a hack, banable on any game. Maybe you are refering to the aim assist. If you didn't know, DbD has it for killers. Aim assist was made in Fortnite for controllers because it's very difficult to play shooter games with them. Also crossplay is enabled when people from different platforms play together so in their match they will get paired with ither squads with the same conditions making it fair. (you see how good does this soind for a gamer and attractive to play?)

And finally, your point abou that they just get money from the ingame shoo doesn't have a lot of sense, even more, it gives more points to fortnite, because even for being free, people decide to do a little support. DbD is payable on base game and a lot of DLCs plus the ingame store aswell

  • @deadbyhitbox said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/946858#Comment_946858

And I think BHVR is making relatively good decisions to earn money. But, it doesn't help when everyone criticizes anything they do that is used to make that money. This type of game isn't very familiar to users, like gun games are. Precisely the reason why gun games are extremely popular games. That's why you can't compare the two, DBD will likely have a relatively large but loyal playerbase, but will not blow up like Fortnite did. You're trying to pit two different genres of games against each other.

Yes I can perfectly compare them both. Again, one thing(the genre) doesn't deny the rest of things. They are both videogames that can be improved in the same way. A game of guns van be updated with the same schedule as a game of cars, just one example.

Your not wrong. XD I found new love for DBD when I discovered Pig was way better then people give her credit for and began to main her.

Im 100% agree with you. Fortnite is the best example to put to say that anyone and anything can succeed. I made this post to compare it to dbd and make devs and players see how easy it is to change the things. Imagine if devs did these things right as dbd did. It can only go better.

  • @deadbyhitbox said:

Coding swimming and driving is far easier than coding a power like the Oni's. Not to mention, like someone said above, they have more resources to push out these updates and changes far faster than DBD.

Again, fortnite has more resources because they got more money doing the good decisitions. Take in mind 3 years ago fortnite was almost cancelled

  • @YaiPa said:

More money behind the game, more money to hire competent people. Fortnite is better for the many reasons you wrote above (sure, except for the game genre, which I find very boring), but the many it excels in are possible thanks to the big money behind (all the free patches and big updates are founded by the colossal skin market behind). Except the bug disable against DBD ban system, that's really awful, but I think that due to spaghetti code there's nothing we can do about it.

Read my other first responses to know why fortnite has more money invest. Take in mind 3 years ago fortnite was almost cancelled

  • @deadbyhitbox said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/946829#Comment_946829

None of these are as prone to bugs as making a character and introducing entirely new mechanics into the game. Like I said, far more variables in DBD. A battle pass is just a new assortments of items, events are short lived, guns aren't harder to program because it is a gun game, a shared and consistent mechanic throughout the game, and skins aren't really ever buggy considering they're just small cosmetic changes.

New mechanics gets introduced not with characters. They added for water everything for example. They made it possible to swim, fishing and use vehicles there which can shoot. Just for the water on this update, as including other many functions.

  • @bilaueta said:

If you think about it fortnite was and still is one of the most popular games in the world, having then tons of money to invest in workers and updates

Dead by daylight is basically an indie game which became slighlty popular, the devs have to use the small popularity of the game to gain profit to invest in it, so they add more paid stuff (which is not even overwhelming) to gain money.

You cant compare one of the most popular games of this last years to this game

As I said to the guy up there. In 2016 fortnite was unknown with the singleplayer mode. Nobody supported it. They added battle royale, got popular, devs added good content, they listened to the community and did right on every choice. Any single game, doind as right as fortnite, could get to that, from the ######### to the top of the gaming world

  • @Boss said:

Turns out there's a lot you can do with hundreds of millions backing you up.

DbD is still very popular, also one of the most viewed games om twitch.

The reason why fortnite has millions to back up, is that thy hey did right on every choice. Instead of canceling it when it was in the #########, devs added the battle royale, they also listened to the community, and made the game better and better and made what people liked. Dbd can always do the same.

  • @deadbyhitbox said:

Fortnite has far less variables in their game, making it much easier to polish. Also, they're not implementing very large game changes every 3 months. You can't compare Fortnite to DBD.

Every three months there is a big update which adds content of everything: battlepass, events, gamemodes, skins, weapons, funtions,... Even if you were right in that, it doesn't make the rest of my pist useless.
