I wouldn't say DBD has ruled anything, more like just given most players Stockholm syndrome or something, but your not wrong when you say any competition hasn't entirely been viable.
I would. can you name a game in this genre that was ever as big as dbd? since dbd came out? and are they around?
it's like smash... we will get other platform fighters, maybe you think one is better than smash for some reason (for example, I like rivals of aether more because of the mode where anyone can create their own character), but you can never dethrone the big one.
-
probably... even if not at launch, I will.

Not really no it’s an iconic license but I’d rather have modern horror more relevant to today and this generation… Ripley being the second ever final girl in dbd is cool but why’d it take so long to get another one.
weird thing to say. since modern horror takes so much from the classics. alien being one of the big ones that inspiration is taken from.
and that we have modern alien movies... which are not as good.
so what do you want? fnaf? train to busan? hush? it follows? terrifier? bird box?
we also have ash as a final girl... people keep forgetting him.

Why have 1 pallet when you can have 2?
now we know why a zombie apocalipse was needed. too many pallets and not enough zombies to drop them on

Yeah, I'd say about that many on average. RNG is a cruel beast at times.
did you see the post above that had none of them with less than 12?

There's like 8-10 pallets on most maps and half are bad.
8-10? Really?

Here's my trapper idea.
You start with all your traps. You can still only carry 2 without addons more with addons.
you cannot pick your traps back up until you you go below the threshold which is 2 + whatever addons.
Instantly easier to setup without having to walk all over the map.
If you give him all his traps all the time. It's just zoning with traps till they lose. at the beginning its fine you might get one easy down this way, but then its back to just normal trapper.
That is just trappers sack... minus the negative.
qol, but doesn't do much.
There's really no need for the power to be this inconvenient. Specially tying it to addons. Just let the base power be fully functional.
Why do people make trapper the exception on this?
Imagine if blight had 2 sprints as base and needed to run over specific spots to get extras... but would lose them upon use and had to run over specific spots again to get them back.
Or if michael could only stalk another survivor after he used the stalk of the first one.
No one asks for on even want these things on other killers, just trapper.
why is this a thing?
-
trapper changes... which I know won't happen cause bhvr said they like where trapper is...
but ignoring that....
I would give all his traps to him basekit.
thick grass or equivalent spawning on every map when you play trapper, basically everywhere, with the color of the traps almost matching it to camouflage. (other killers bring their stuff to the trial, like fountains or jigsaw boxes, so should trapper) can also be a thick low fog too in maps like the game. enough to hide the traps but not a survivor in the dying state.
You no longer step on your own traps. They just get disarmed if you do.
Picking a survivor from a trap resets it.
Escaping from a trap now takes a set amount of time, let's say 12 seconds base. 8 if another survivor is saving you.
Trapper can recall disarmed traps from anywhere by looking at them and pressing the ability button (Think thor and mjolnir). If he holds it for a bit, all the disarmed traps get recalled in a fixed time regardless of how many traps are being recalled. As in, more time than pulling 2 separate traps one at a time, but starting at 3 it's faster (if calling a single trap takes 1 sec, calling all of them takes 2.5 seconds. something like that)
trapper bag now just increases the total trap number by 1.
Makeshift Wrap is now basekit, so now it will make it so the trap stays armed when you step on them once.
Tar bottle now makes the trap perfectly match the grass or equivalent. instead of just almost.
trapper sack now increases the speed at which you collect a trap from a distance. say 0.8 seconds.
I think the other add-ons can remain the same.
And there. Trapper is much better while still remaining an easy character to understand for new players (which is important to trapper in particular according to behaviour).
You do not need to walk around to pick your power accross the map, the traps can be actually hidden in more than 4 or 5 maps, no more trap rng(which makes things simpler), and you don't need to go back to collect or reset old traps.
But only the disarmed ones, if you put a bad trap in the corner and no one interacted with it, that's on you. if you want it, go pick it back up.

My point is that he isn't as weak as everyone makes him out to be. I'm no master by any means though.
I guess for me maybe it's the ambience. I like the echos and the way the world looks through his eyes.
no one is saying he's weak. just boring to play.

The thing I like best about TCM is family. Family is everything.
Dislike: Waiting time but don't outright hate it either. I'd take quality over quantity anyday.
DBD: Character and license variety is nice. Chasing can be fun, but it can also be a nightmare for either side depending on your game, so i'd file that under both.
Also major dislike to gutting of perks and killers when nerfed 👎️
the saw is family (the relevant part ends 30 seconds into the clip)

Making a survivor bot mean you cover 4 out of 5 players in a game. Making a killer bot covers 1 / 33 / 4 players as each killer ai needs to be able to play differently. There's probably some stream lining in there but you'd still need to write independent code for a lot of killers and their powers and make a new one each killer.
On top of that do you really want to play against a killer that always knows where you are and how progressed each gen is?
according to the tutorial... bot killer is kinda bad.
also, I rather get a bot than the match just end.

IMO you should also be able to see the Perks of your teammates. But only ingame, so when you press ESC you see the names and ping of everyone, the Perks should be added there. (In the Lobby it might lead to lobbydodging)

@Emeal said:
They already did that, The Blight.
technically.
but talbot having been an actual survivor is so minor in his lore that it could be removed entirely and not affect anything. (so much so I honestly forgot)
In fact, I used to think he was like the observer and was in the realm as an intruder. until the entity took notice and used the flowers to turn him into a proper killer. at least until one of his tomes said he got sent into trials without wanting to...
but again, this is minor. and I would want someone who actively chooses to become a killer to escape being a survivor.
and like I said, the survivor turning into a killer was just an accompaning piece to the killer turning into a survivor, which is the one I think is actually more interesting. the idea that anyone can resist the entity in that way is very cool to me.
-
I do play killers I suck with. one of them being huntress actually... kinda hard to properly aim on console. (granted slinger is easier to aim with)
and I do not personally care. I know I might suck at them, but I play them for the fun of it. I did not pick blight because I wanna 4k, I did cause I wanna pinball and see if I can manage to get hits with him. which I usually don't, but it's great when I do.
most of the killers I like I tend to do good with, but you know... can't be good at everything.
the killers I do not play with are the ones that just aren't fun for me. like trickster... and clown. f those guys. and I don't even do bad with clown... just hate him. except for the laugh... the laugh is great.
so my advice, just turn chat off and play what you like. you'll get good eventually if that's your goal and you keep at it.
edit- I forgot.
@appleas said:
You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take as Huntress. All the good Huntress players didn’t get where they were today without missing their shots. Based on what you were saying, the Survivors could have gotten a 3man out if you were camping the last Survivor but they decided to be altruistic and end up losing 2 people. That’s a decision mistake on their part and they tried to gaslight you into thinking it was your fault for their mistake.
If you enjoy Huntress, keep playing her.
appleas is 100% correct. take your shots and do not be afraid to miss them.
1- it's how you get better. practice.
2- if the survivors learn you are afraid on throwing them, they will use it against you
3- there is a certain amount of pressure when you play against a huntress that just keeps throwing the hatchets even when the chance to hit is small. and you want that.
-
it's cheaper to just get them to p1 if you play just 1 or 2 survivors.
but if you play several, easier to just p3 people

As it is right now it may as well not exist. 25% is still a massive risk if you go to 2nd hook stage you're going to get tunneled out and the game is already lost. It would only benefit solo which indisputably needs help.
it wouls benefit swf WAY more. not even close.
also, do you want slugging builds to be popular?
I play trapper. and 25% was the base chance of escaping a trap each try. 25% is way too high of a chance
-
no.
a survivor on hook and a survivor having to stop what they are doing to go for the save is a big part of a killers pressure.
it arguably should not be possible without deliverance.

where do you play?

What prevents me from saying "Dissolution isn't obvious to me and I want the game to inform me if the killer has that perk because I find it unfun"? Do you see what I mean when I say where do you draw the line with Otz's idea? It's all subjective and nobody in this community has the unbiasedness to decide "in a case by case basis".
you get hit, and a pallet breaks after you vault it.
the tell is there and is quite obvious.
even if you are unnaware of the perk, you will see that the pallet broke, and you can check the end game screen to read the perk that caused it.
so, basic awareness and reading perks is what prevents you from saying it.
I do not see what you mean cause your example is just terrible.

which perks then? you are informed of dissolution and i think even that's too much. that's just nerfing non meta killer perks because i don't know what perks would give that info other than spirit fury or coup.
"this specific perks needs a tell that it activated"
i personally think it's already omega obvious that a perk is in play for the most part. even info perks like aura reading and discordance. it can only be a new player friendly feature but alas, they need to be familiar with perks and it'll take some time.
"which perks then?" is a question that does not follow from what I said.
I agree, dissolution should not inform the survivors of it's existence. you should see the effect, and be aware of it later.
this one, is not obvious. you just have to assume it is there or spend a bunch of time in chase to "confirm" it. it can and will give several false positives and negatives.
other haste perks are obvious, you just look at the survivor and they are zooming.
3% is not easy to tell unless you spent A LOT of time in the game. and the other haste perks, have an obvious activation window, this one is just on.
the tell could be as simple as a survivor with made for this having a slighty different running animation. but something has to show it is in play
-

Where do you draw the line with which perks need to be shown? Fun and fairness is very subjective in DbD.
Are we going to select these perks according to Otz and what he finds fun and fair?
in a case by case basis.
in this case, the perk needs a tell that it activated.
that simple
-
@NerfDHalready said:
imagine the amount of perks that would be completely irrelevant if they were known right at the start. noed, bw, devour, spirit fury, enduring, lightborn, discordance... and hope users could expect to get tunnelled in 90% of their games. it's a massive NO from me, and my imagination can't go further on how that "issue" could be resolved other than showing the perks from the start.
I really don't get this... is anyone saying that every single perk needs to be known from the start?
All I see is "this specific perks needs a tell that it activated".
And "so every perks needs to be known from the start?" Is just an entirely new sentence people are saying like it answers anything...

Thank you for all your responses. I checked the Wiki and a fast vault should take 0.5 seconds.
Here is the video footage again but with a replay and timer added at the end of the video:
My vault took over 1 second from the time the running vault promt disappeared until my feet were on the ground. A medium vault would take 0.9 seconds. the time that resilience would deduct is not even included.
So now is my question to you guys: I'm just bad at fast vaulting (honest question) or do we see a bug in action here?
the vault doesn't start when the prompt disappears. it just means you are locked into it.
the animation starts around the .55 second mark.
which gives you about 0.6 seconds of time from vault starting to being hit. which CAN be easily explained with ping issues.
now, if we frame by frame on youtube, the video seems to be at 30fps and it took 20 frames from vault to hit. which is 0.666666... of a second. which kinda matches your timer accounting for human error.
and it still goes to, CAN be explained by ping. might be a bug, but ping can answer it
-
there is in fact a reason.

I don’t sadly, I play on console.
don't know about the others... but you can retroactively record a match on a playstation.
hold the share button, a menu appears on the left. pressing square while the menu is up (or selecting the option manually) retroactively saves a video of however many minutes you had it set up to.
the configurations for the time are in that same menu that appears when you hold the share button.
this is on ps4 at least. might work a bit differently on ps5.
edit - also, pressing the share button once takes a screenshot. double tapping it starts recording (it stops when it reaches whatever time you had it set up to)
