They probably tweaked the matchmaking algorithm. Have you been experiencing faster queues?

I run whispers, bbq and enfury. In terms of playstyle, I use whispers for stealthy first hits and enfury to maul through pallets. The first couple of gens usually pop pretty quick, but by the time the third pops complete I generally already have at least 2 or 3 people trapped, so the game slows down massively afterwards. Unless you have enough pressure don't bother chasing trapped survivors. If they happen to run into you just slug them and move on to a better target.

Huntress should still be a free DLC, but hard to aim on console.
Deathslinger is decent and pretty fun.
Legion can be fun, but hard to get the follow-up kill on.
Spirit is one of the strongest killers, but isn't terribly exciting at times. Phasing while in a chase is like spinning a prize wheel some days.
Plague can secure kills really easily, but your rank will suffer for it.
Clown has amazing chase potential, but nothing else. Deathslinger at least has a slight stealth element to his chase.
Oni is what Hillbilly should be, and has the best killer aesthetic in the game.
Legion and Huntress are also about to get their own Archives, so they'd be ones to prioritise if that's something you're after. If you also want to consider perks, then Spirit, Plague and Clown would be the ones to look at since at least two of their perks are usable on several killers.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1238185#Comment_1238185
Console players get Trapper, Wraith, Hillbilly, Nurse, Hag and Doctor standard.
Huntress is also free on PS4, but you have to unlock the dlc (for free, no shards)
-
Oni's pretty fun to play and also very strong against good survivors, but he does take a bit of practice.
Deathslinger is really good too if you play a lot of FPS games.
Legion is pretty fun if you like running around stabbing people
Spirit is really strong, but she's also extremely boring to play
Plague could be a bit too much if you're put off by puking
I find clown a bit boring to play, but he's great at ending chases really quick
I believe the other non licensed killers come with the game, so you should already have everyone else.
-
After going to shack you spent about 10-15 seconds checking an area with no gens and then walking back to where you spawned..In the mean time there were 4 survivors who had nothing else to do but to sit on a gen. Pay attention to common survivor spawns. IThe rule of thumb is that they generally spawn around the 2nd/3rd farthest gens on the map. On some maps e.g. azaroffs resting place/suffocation pit 1 survivor usually spawns on your side of the map so you have a choice to look for them or pressure the other 3.
-
They're the power role if you let them be the power role. It's all up to the relative skill of each player.
-
I've been playing a lot of pig lately, so I'll give hatch to the first person who boops.
I'll also give hatch to someone if I feel that they played well and maybe should have won, but lost because of bad teammates, or if they did something funny, or particularly entertaining.
I'll give second chances to people if for some reason they got robbed of getting at least 3 hooks and 3 chases (e.g. hit struggle on first hook, got downed instantly without getting a proper chase, etc.).
-
When I bought this game I broke my analogue stick because i thought the harder you wiggle, the greater chance you have to escape. Eventually learned it's not the case ;d
But like the others said, wiggling is there primarily to prevent a killer from hooking you wherever they want and limit their choice to 2 or 3 hooks that are in the viscinity. It sometimes also forces them to run into walls, which is pretty funny, especially if you've equipped boil over. Obviously there's also the case where your teammates body block for you and/or use breakout to help you actually wiggle out.
-
I think it depends mostly on the platform. I'm in the same region as you, PS4 and my killer queues are always instant, whilst my survivor queues (solo) last anywhere between 10-25 minutes depending on the time of day (red rank for both)

In the ptb she sang it without starting again after a chase. It was so creepy when she comes and you heared that giggling first. I hope the change make it live.
Here you can hear it. I don't know who made the video. It was the first in YouTube, when I searched for a huntress match in ptb ^^
Have a listen to this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gNX0lFtVSSU
Someone helpfully broke down the video:
0:00 Upset voice breaking and holding back sobs.
0:45 Repeats what she just song but her voice doesn't break.
1:25 She starts to speed up the lullaby, and a small chuckle.
2:25 Really starts to sound deranged. (Going off beat starts laughing a little)
3:25 Gets into the lullaby a lot (singing it)
3:58 Laughs or seems a lot happier or jollier.
5:00 Loses it a laughs a little.
5:25 A loud good crazy laugh
If this actually makes it into the live version of the game it'd be terrifyingly amazing. One can hope..

Yeah I remember the first time I actually realized her hum changed (back during her release) and I had to stop playing for a second to make sure I wasn't hearing things. Its a really neat little detail that I always thought was a great addition to her character.
for sure. It's a shame we never get to listen to the whole thing

Fun fact many new players (and some old) don't know about Huntresses singing is that the longer you go without hitting a survivor/getting into a chase she actually starts to sing more disgruntled and annoyed.
It's not just disgruntled and annoyed ant one point towards the end of the track it sounds like she's singing through laughter. The track is actually pretty long and if i remember correctly there were 5 different mood changes within it. The reason you only ever hear the first 1,2 or maybe 3 is because every time she gets a hit the lullaby resets and the track starts from the beginning. I don't know if you noticed, but due to a bug (or maybe not a bug - i hope it wasn't a bug) the lullaby didn't reset in the most recent PTB so you could actually listen to quite a big portion of the track which was awesome.

I play mostly killer and do get rank 1 survivor. Either you are greatly exaggerating or you are the most unlucky person in the game.
I actually believe @KiloOfSalt . Last Tuesday I decided to play a bit of survivor. I played 10 games, 9 of which were ebony mories. To top it all off it was mostly rank 9-13's who didn't even get to use them half the time or only got to mori 1 or 2 people. But still.. 9 out of 10 games. I legit thought there was some secret gathering going on that i wasn't invited to, where it was decided that Tuesday was officially mori day.
PS4 UK area btw.

Don't focus too much on ranking and pips. All that stuff is going away anyway. Just play the game to have fun.
-
From experience, I've noticed that you do hear the whoosh when you are towards the edge of her TR. As the sound of the TR becomes quieter, the whoosh sound sort of plays over it. I'm not sure if it's intended or not, but it's been raised many times in the past, which leads me to believe that it's probably not getting changed. Personally I think it's better if it remains as is.

Thank you alot for your kind words, it means much to me truly! And yes it happened, I am scared to mentioning any of that cuz mods might close it cuz of that.
This is so disappointing to see.. You've been an active member of the community and seem like a really decent guy. It's disheartening to see that you got banned for actually caring for your survivors' experience and punishing the person who ruined it for everyone involved in that game. Also given the situation the fact that you're not willing to name people and take the high road is really mature.
I'm really disappointed at whoever gave you that ban.. I know it doesn't change anything and it's probably a bit meaningless to say, but I do wish you can come back and this experience doesn't spoil the game for you.
-
Wait, did you actually get banned over this? Is this why you're moving on? If so, I should be banned too, because I would have done the exact same thing as you in the situation (and have done in the past).
Either way, hope you find something interesting to play when you have time to kill. DBD tends to be pretty addictive and I know it's sometimes difficult to find something that scratches the itch as well as DBD does, so I do hope it works out for you :)
-
If you had to choose between them, i'd recommend discordance as a semi-decent tracking perk. However, if you don't have it in your loadout, I'd swap either of them with Whispers, as it gives you early pressure (like corrupt) and good tracking (like discordance) throughout the match.
-
Better question is, why do you care? I never understood what people find so appealing about gossip

Knowing what a Survivor wants you to do is the secret to winning as Killer.
Does that Survivor want you to chase them? Don't.
Does that Survivor want you to swing at them? Wait for Sprint Burst or Dead Hard.
Does that Survivor want to finish that gen you interrupted at 90? Proxy camp it.
Does that Survivor want you to pick them up? Obvious DS.
Does that Survivor want you to slug them at endgame? Unbreakable pick them up first.
Does that Survivor want to do Head On memes? Always curve wide when carrying.
Does it look like the Survivors are protecting someone? Weak link. Tunnel out.
I could go on and on. Look for patterns and figure out what their goals are. That's how you stop them.
Sincerely, a Rank 1 Legion Main.
Eventually with experience all of this (and more) comes naturally, but consciously thinking about these things will definitely be helpful to newer players. Really sound advice.

First of I'm going to start this off with a little statement..
I don't have a problem with NOED at all, all these people complaining about it there is only three words.
DO THE BONES.
Ok, now onto the topic. The past couple of days or so when I've been playing on the survivor side, I've come across killers like the chainsaw butt bois (billy & leatherface) and well everyone knows they have the 1 hit down moves and I only mention these two as it just seems to be them doing this but along with their insta-down the last gen pops and wouldn't you know it they also have NOED or if we got all the totems then I see noed in the scoreboard.
As I said I don't have a problem with noed, I use it myself, my question is why?
Why use up a perk slot with noed when you are playing as a killer with one shot abilities? It just makes no sense to me to be honest.
Two possible reasons, i think - they've got no confidence in their ability to get downs using their power; or haven't found anything they'd rather use on the bloodweb yet.
Either way, it's safe to assume they're still learning, so I wouldn't judge them too harshly

Stop with the same story "Billy is perfectly balanced" because others said the same. No, he isn't. You can loop billy into another galaxy.
Not if the person playing him is good. Otherwise you could say the same about any killer in the game. You can loop a potato into another galaxy regardless of the killer they're playing.

Ok let’s talk about the coming gen speed changes. Am I the only one who sees this change as useless?
so why is it when survivor nerfs happen they have an opportunity to completely bypass it as if it never happened?
maybe if all 4 survivors are solo ques it might work, but once you get a 2,3 or 4 man swf 9 times out of ten one of them is running prove thy self . And this is going to make that 5% useless and we will have the same gen speeds as we do now. If you really want to make it a big difference to actually change the way the game is played for real the speed reduction will need to be 50% that way it takes 3 people to make a difference on one gen and 4 for a 200% repair speed. I don’t think a 5% reduction and then giving them an option to completely negate the reduction is a good change.
Let them bring prove thyself
- It's a wasted perk slot aside from the bloodpoint gain - I'd rather them have that instead of bond, dead hard, reselience, spine chill which will actually help them extend chases and lead me away from their mates allowing them to sit on generators
- people who run prove thyself (unless they are potatoes who think it's a good gen perk) use it to max out their objective points early, so they don't have to sit on gens and instead focus on getting chased, pulling off flashlight plays, etc. I love playing against these players because they actually want to focus on the fun part of the match and are not too fussed about rushing through the objective.
- It might sound counter-intuitive to bring a gen perk, so you don't have to do gens, but at least in my experience, more often than not it is actually the case
-
Billy is a tough one. Right now he's perfectly balanced (even on smaller maps) without any addons, but as soon as you slap anything on (aside from mangled, chainsaw reach, speed limiter, noise addons), he becomes extremely strong. Therefore the question is, how do you balance him fairly.
- one way to go is to completely rework his addons, so they don't grant him a power boost, but instead force you to change your playstyle. For example, like the noise add-ons, which don't give him a straight up buff, but unlock plays that you wouldnt be able to pull off otherwise
- another way to go is to nerf his power, so that you can achieve the same level of effectiveness that it currently has once you equip your add-ons. I would personally be against this method, as I don't like to use add-ons on any of my killers
-
By the way, if the unhooked survivor tries to bodyblock you and take a hit with BT, that's the equivalent of them saying, I'm ready to be back in the match and I'm fair game. Whenever that happens and especially if they're doing a good job of bodyblocking you and you can't get to the unhooker without hitting them, sometimes the smart play is to wait out the BT timer (I think it's around 8 seconds) and smack them down once it runs out. If you have enough pressure, you can even pick them up and eat the DS - that's one less thing you have to worry about in the endgame when the perk is significantly more impactful.

The only time I used DH to dodge a bit was in the last picture where I save the guy off the hook being camped.
If you look at the first two pics, first one I tried to make the white fence-vault. The second one I tried to make the cow-ring pallet.
It looks like your intent was to force the killer to swing and then make it to the vault/pallet, because in both screenshots if you deadharded from where you are on the floor, you'd move to a bad position and still get hit.
You definitely weren't getting the cow pallet - at the cow tree DH would have pushed you past the pallet which is then already blocked by the killer after they lunged, so you wouldn't have been able to drop it; your only choice would have been to go for the vault or another loop around the short side. Either way you should get hit, unless the legion cuts corners too wide.
With the fence it's hard to measure the distance to the fence, especially since your character spun around after getting downed, but from memory if DH worked it would have pushed you right where you need to take 2-3 steps to take the vault. Depending on the killer's ping it would have been a 50/50 whether you get hit through the vault or not, because they would definitely have enough time to recover and swing again.
The point is in both of these scenarios even if DH worked the way it did before it still wouldn't have guaranteed your safety. Im not trying to be mean - with dedi servers you need to anticipate in advance where exactly you're going to need to use DH and choose your pathing accordingly 5-10 seconds before you actually have to use the perk.
-
Don't be one of those people using dead hard to dodge a hit. It's so silly. It does so much more if people just put some thought into how to use it.

I know you don't trust me, it is ture, I get more top ranks player in rank 1 but in rank 2 I get worse survivor even purple rank, I have no idea
That's more likely a placebo effect that you're experiencing than anything else.. Killer gameplay is pretty good at the moment and bound to get even more relaxed with the next update. My advice to you is to keep practicing, not get too frustrated and observe what's happening during your match as a whole. Don't focus on the survivor you're currently chasing too much (tunnel vision). Keep an eye on their movement, where they're going and what resources they have over there. Are they taking you away from the gens you're trying to defend, or are they leading you to them? Do they camp pallets, or do they try to loop you; do they know what theyre doing; how valuable is your current chase and what are the rest of the survivors doing at the moment; where are your objectives and where are the survivors' objectives. In time and with practice you'll be able to keep track of all these things and prioritise your actions. At that point it won't matter what rank your survivors are and how long they have played the game - you can usually tell how the match will end in the first couple of minutes. You'll also be able to tell how you need to adjust your playstyle in order to affect this outcome.

Rank 2 and Rank 1 are completely identical in terms of matchmaking. If you can win at rank 2, you can win at rank 1. Even if your claim was true (which it isn't) you're still winning 50% of your matches. With a bit more practice you'll win more.

I keep seeing suggestions for mories to only happen on the death hook
That will make moris useless, I just tested this with red mories where I would only mori on the death hook and let me tell you, as soon as survivors realize there is a mori they will do nothing but gens due to the fear of getting moried
Making moris baseline on death hook are fine, but making an allready ultra rare offering even weaker will just make it useless, survivors allready dc on loading when they see a secret offering(btw there are other secret offerings beside moris) and even if they don't dc they will do everything they can to escape the game as quickly as possible
Moris are fine,if it happens you get 5 games in a row against moris maybe you're unlucky, but it's not that common and even if it happens it just pushes you to survive better since you know you can die more quickly
Sometimes it's better to think before you speak.
If mories applied on last hook, survivors wouldn't feel the need to pressure gens as much as they do currently when they see a secret offering. If anything burning a mori that applies on last hook will only work in your favour, as it won't change survivor behaviour whilst saving you the time to pick up, walk to a hook and put a survivor on a hook 4 times in a single match. It also counters things like sabo plays, dead zones with no hooks, endgame DS, unbreakable and so on. All of this is quite a big reward for an ultra rare offering which you can stack ON TOP of your add-ons/perks. You also get the added benefit of watching a cool animation.

Annoying game to say the least.

I don't think any of you even read the post. This wouldn't necessarily be a nerf. He wants survivors to be required to do 2 boxes (Or 3 with an addon). That's a BUFF, it makes them consistent, because at 1 box it's useless, and at all boxes it wins you the game. 2 boxes slows down survivors just enough, and having that guaranteed, consistent slowdown every game would be a good thing. If you need survivors to touch more than 2 boxes then Idk what to tell you other than to learn to capitalise off Pig's slowdown mechanics and learn what to do with her.
Hm, interesting. So you're telling someone to learn what to do with pig's mechanics, whereas in fact you're the one lobbying a change which in your words is a buff to those mechanics. In other words your own post is actually directed at yourself, i suppose. Don't worry, that shouldn't be embarrassing to you at all!

Thank you, I also heard huntress was good? Is it true?
She's very strong and super fun to play. However, her playstyle is quite different from other standard killers. For example, she can ignore a lot of pallet loops that most other killers have to deal with, by being able to throw hatches over or between certain objects. If you learn to play her first you might struggle a bit later when you change to other killers, because you'll have to break old habits when dealing with maze tiles and pallet loops. For example if you "main" huntress as your first killer, later on when you start branching out you might struggle catching survivors around pallets with the killers that use their basic attack to hurt survivors (e.g. wraith).
However, if you do plan to try various killers and not just focus on one at the start, i definitely do recommend giving her a try. As I said before, she's super fun and rewarding to play as.
Edit: as a side note - if you play on PS4 you can get her for free. She's not included in the basic package, but you can unlock (buy) her DLC from the PS store for free. I didn't know that when I started out, so didn't unlock the dlc for ages, thinking I had to pay to get it. Just want to make sure you dont make the same mistake as me

I did not say this killer is terrible at all. In terms of power, he's not weak, but not strong either. To be honest, i like the killer, and i kind of main him.
I'm just saying that those shots through cracks are incredibly hard to get, and the fact you're not getting anything really makes me sad and discourage you for being that good.
But of course, we have different opinions, and that's not a problem imo.
Regarding the op post, i think it's due to latency and killer's movement. Sometimes when i play as him, i also feel like it's going through walls, but in reality it's because i'm moving, which brings the chain into the object the moment i shot. In survivor's perspective, it may look just like the shot has gone through the wall.
Yeah, I see your point now and do apologise for reacting harshly.
Since we're already kind of on this topic now, here are my thoughts. Having limitations and not always getting rewarded for those amazing trick shots that are so hard to get is the right call in my opinion. Imagine if those limitations weren't in place - with enough practice people could learn to land those shots consistently, meaning that most map tiles will be certain death for the survivor, which completely erases the interactive part of the chase. Currently, Deathslingers can still pull off amazing shots, but to get rewarded they have to do it under the right conditions. I think that's fair. I know it's a bit discouraging knowing that you can pull off something great, but sometimes there's literally no point in trying. The alternative would be worse if you consider the bigger picture and the match as a whole.
With all that said, I personally consider the deathslinger to be one of the killers with the highest skill cap, so for the average player he will be in the mid tiers. Meanwhile in the hands of people who are great at both FPS games and DBD he's absolutely deadly and up there with billy, nurse and huntress (who are the other high-skill-cap killers in my opinion)
-
Each killer has a unique power that invites a different playstyle from the player - my advice would be to read about their powers and pick the ones that sound the most fun to use.
With that said there are several killers which are easier to pick up if you're still learning the game's mechanics - for example, Wraith, Hillbilly, Leatherface are all killers who are really easy to pick up and using/understainding their power won't overwhelm you whilst you're still trying to learn things like finding survivors, tracking scratch marks, patrolling objectives and so on.
The ones that you have picked, namely demo and Myers both have a fairly complex power, so you might get a bit overwhelmed in the beginning. If that's the case I'd suggest starting out with the killers I've listed above and then switching to whoever you find more fun once you've gotten used to the basics of the game.
I hope this helps and welcome to dbd :)
-
I agree to an extent, but it's not as simple as you might think- there's quite a lot to consider:
- How long do you give the player to reconnect? Some platforms are extremely laggy (PS4) and excluding queue time and lobby timer it will take a minimum of 5 minutes to load from tally screen back into a game. By the time you can get back into the match most of the time it will already be over.
- Do players deserve to be allowed to reconnect? In theory, yes if it's not their fault and their connection just cut off. However, regardless of who's at fault they still most likely ruined the match, so wouldn't it be better for the common good if people with inconsistent connections didn't play the game (at least until they fixed their connection)?
- What will happen to the in-game character of someone currently in the process of re-connecting - will there be a still husk there? Will the other players be able to interact with it? How do you make it so that other players don't get confused by the fact that there is someone in the match who might or might not come back. If it's a survivor, do you hook them as killer? If it's a killer, do you do gens as survivor, or wait for them to come back? Or does the match just freeze for a set amount of time whilst waiting for that person to potentially reconnect?
- and so on..
-
Survivor - Iron will, because I love experimenting with LOS jukes during chases
Killer - BBQ, because it gives you double BP and more; Whispers, because of how well it synergises with many killers' powers (e.g. doc, pig, trapper, wraith, billy) and helps you get that important early game pressure

Why are you suddenly become aggresive? I merely stated out the facts.
If survivors are injured, and if you make those good shots, you are NOT rewarded anything asides from satisfaction and showing your skill to your opponent. If anything, you are PUNISHED. You either suffer 4 secs stun and give survivors sprint burst, or, you cancel your chain and reload, wasting your time. This is especially true at shack.
Also, did anyone mention god windows here? Aside from you of course.
It's not aggression, I was being ironic/sarcastic. The reason is that you jumped on my comment to complain how badly designed/weak the character is, which was completely irrelevant to what I was pointing out to OP, namely the fact that even though they might feel like they get hit through solid objects, that's actually not the case and they just got shot through a small crack.
Your reaction (and its irrelevancy) made it seem that you'd comment on just about any post to voice your concern with how punishing it is to play the deathslinger (which I disagree with, by the way). I do agree that I made a bit of a leap with the god window reference, but that was just to demonstrate the irony in how you came across - i.e. finding a small limitation of a killer's ability (justified in my opinion) and exaggerating it to the point where it seems absolutely terrible and punishing. If you were able to spin the fact that Deathslinger can shoot through seemingly solid objects as being punishing to him, I'm sure you'd be able find an issue for killers with placing a door next to a god window
Edit: Sorry I'm coming off a bit to aggressive, this is not my intention, but I do know it's not always easy to distinguish between sarcasm and aggression just from a written post without much context.
