You would need to remake all systems that work from old days, I always liked friday 13 where survivors get tired and can have multiple pocket knifes (something like old ds in dbd) and are hard to get but when jason gets them they die fast and he can grab you and kill you with animation (something like mori) or butcher you with throwable knifes and his weapon, great game shame it got stoped by licence issues.
-
Bloodlust is just from old times where infinites were common and killer couldnt get survivor or double pallets existed too now your jungle jym has one palett but in early stages of dbd there were two and same with all loops not to mention palett vacuum being the thing.
Nowdays bloodlust is mechanic that helps killer to catch the survivor, no survivor is supposed to run killer for 5 gens and bloodlust rewards only m1 killers in general because every time killer uses power (clown, freddy, doctor even they are mostly m1 killers with antiloop they are one of killers that have bloodlust way less than legion, skullmerchant or trapper and these are killers that chase you most time as pure m1 killers with no antiloop or mobility so they need some help even now they are one of weakest some of them are the bottom of killers in this game and no bloodlust is just shadow nerf for them) or breaks something so bloodlust only helps killers that needed it mosly m1 killers. Even blight can use bloodlust but then it resets when he uses single rush or breaks single palett or wall so I dont see issue with bloodlust at some point killer will get you and this is mechanic that works if you are getting bloodlust as killer a lot then you are struggleing but personaly Im getting only level one and rarely level 2 on just m1 killers.

I like playing against ghoul way more than other killers. In my eyes he has more counterplay than many other killers.
Even he is strong killer his power just injures you but still you can loop him more then other high a-tier killers or s-tier killers.

Ghoul is a lot of fun, I like to use Tinkerer and Eruption since he has the best mobility in the game, the other perks are up to you. Coffee and Chains are the best add-ons and Bamboozle is better than Centipede by a long shot.
Fun and quite easier killer for chill evenings for me, vut only downside is every team I go against rushes like this was tournament and prize would be in same numbers as house worth so no easy build just meta.

Exactly. 100 true. My words. That’s why it’s wild to see someone who’s against tunneling also claim Distortion was “good design” — when it literally made it more likely the killer only ever saw the same non-Distortion teammate if he didn’t want to tunnel. That’s a pretty massive double standard.
I also saw way more complaints about old Distortion from survivors than from killers. And every killer knows where the pressure comes from when you can’t find anyone and you’re not about to play hide-and-seek forever: the hook, the freshly unhooked, and the injured.
Thats because survivors and even bigger half of killers doesnt support rats either, they are one of reasons of killers tunneling and teams getting stuck on 3gens.

I'm doing fine with almost no gen regress, hex perks, tunneling, or slugging. I'm not gonna have an 80% KR, but I maintain the target 60%.
Im having around 60% too but without perks gens fly thats it and even if I have lot of fast chases.

Except you're also arguing that this isn't actually a one-size-fits-all argument and also you're missing the point.
With the suggested PTB changes, tunnelling could indeed become a costly mistake, but apparently it's not a problem to make that mistake free.
So why is it a problem when 'survivor mistakes' are free, but not when killer mistakes are free?
Because tunneling isn’t a mistake — it’s a reactive tool for killers, just like good bodyblocks aren’t a mistake for survivors. Both can be used poorly and backfire, but that’s not a fundamental error; it’s a situational misplay.
I don't care about your essay on killer 'strategy' when your prior arguments have been both 'you can't win without it' AND 'you can't win with it'. What you're writing up here is a complete departure from your earlier argument. Which, again, feels like a disingenuous swerve.
In the games where you “win without tunneling,” you often win because the option to tunnel is always on the table. At high MMR, good survivors assume you will hard tunnel if it’s worth it, so they change their macro:
No heals under hook, they do off-path resets → time loss.
Chases away from key gens into zones where tunneling is unprofitable → they’ll even take a faster down as the price for a good zone.
From those zones, saves take longer paths → more time for the killer.
Less gen-greed in critical areas → they won’t go down between two key gens, they “give” earlier.
All of this happens because the killer can hard tunnel if the spot is good (and in high MMR that’s normal). Survivors must play smart to make tunneling unattractive — and that slows the match heavily in the killer’s favor, i.e., the time gain you need.
Tunneling isn’t an “always do it” plan; it’s a pressure tool whose credible threat already reshapes survivor macro. Necessary as an option, weak as a sole gameplan.
and most groups completely neglect their macro gameplay, stayed until the last second in important zones, play super aggressive on their side, push their objective until the last second and give downs in key areas, -> play at a crazy speed, and neglect their macro entirely. against these groups then the hard tunnel and a fast 3v1 is the way to go. you take back the speed you need. teams that on the other hand play to counter the tunnel, already slow down the round by themselves.
trade macro for speed and the game answers with tunneling; respect macro and you remove its incentive.
The credible threat of hard tunneling changes how people play; under that shadow, you’ll win games without ever using it.
Most of the time, though, you still need the option—players love going hyper-aggressive and turbo-pace, and tunneling punishes those overextensions.
Except it doesn't, because getting tunnelled is fundamentally different from a fresh chase, and that still leaves three others in the lurch.
One health state down when the chase starts — plus a ton of perks that only come online post-unhook/while injured.
The rest is just DBD/asym nature. The other three will have less direct interaction by default; if they want more, they can force it — crash the hook, bodyblock, trade, cover/ sabo/flash. The option’s there — lots of squads do exactly that.Except it's neither of those anymore because it got ripped out. There's so much intel going around that stealth is fundamentally a lost cause. It's no longer a tool because you're lighting up like a christmas tree every three seconds.
My experience was the opposite: Most survivors didn’t like the old Distortion. Hook phases are resources — if the killer plays into them, it’s a resource that everyone gets found — otherwise tons of key gens were lost because the killer only ever spotted the people sitting there, never the Distortion users.
And no, it’s not a “teamplay boost.” It’s more like: “I hate tunneling… so I’ll make sure the killer only ever sees the same teammate while I stay invisible.” 😂Here’s the kicker: people defend Distortion as “good design,” which ends up meaning the killer finds the 1–2 without Distortion — and then they complain about tunneling. That’s Schrödinger’s perk: both “anti-tunnel” and “please tunnel the others.” Omega paradox, omega funny.
Schrödinger’s morality: rail against tunneling while defending the perks that trigger it — so killers (esp. low/mid MMR) who wouldn’t tunnel end up doing it anyway.
It’s paradoxical: stealth + Distortion make even non-tunneling killers tunnel hard — especially in MMR where tunneling isn’t even needed. If you hide all game, where should killer get pressure before wasting time searching? From the hook. From the tunnel. Kinda funny to be anti-tunnel on one hand and pro-stealth on the other—pick a lane.
I mean. .. Anti-tunnel in mind, Distortion in the loadout: result — “please tunnel the others.” Distortion go brrr.
Distortion was heavily used by rats, survivors which only hid and did this even if they werent hooked and could take chasee for surivor which is ead on hook or right after unhook went hid like ninja just for the killer to see only unhooked survivor which was tunnel (imagine this low mobility killer with no info about survivors on map and only notification he gets is someone unhooked hooked survivor so what he will logicaly he will go back to the hook and there he finds only unhooked survivor guess what will happen next). From what I seen distortion was used by same kind of players which are hinding on 3 survivors left and just wait for hatch on 2 survivors left, hiding, covering and waiting patiently for other survivors death thats it just rats in general whithout strategic teamwork potencial (only one is when killer is trying to locate them and looses too much time but that was rare as pure basement bubba guarding his chest).

Easy buff for trapper: make bloody coils basekit. Problem solved.
It wont even if diamond stone with iri stone are basekit with blood coil only what will be better is his traps leathality but he will still be weak because of his main playstyle which he has just going across the map without any mobility or recalling his trapps across them map, investing precious time which other killers use actively to chase and slowdown survivors he spends wondering across the map and placing traps that get dissarmed or arent even used the whole match just badly desinged power for current DBD fast phasted game thats why newer killers has kinda everything in their kit or main parts like antiloop and mobility.

All of those were discussed on the forums and have patch notes.
And that 2018 nurse or wraith nerf for his speedboost duration from 1,25 seconds to current 1 second that are small nerfs. Every nerf has patch notes even the old ones same goes for survivors all you hint are shadow nerfs like 70 seconds hook stages for one stage from 60 seconds are shadow nerfs for killers especialy weaker ones so its not direct nerf to pig but its still nerf to pig.

Wait, so spreading out is gen rushing? Even without perks or toolboxes? They're just doing the objective. You getting caught in 90s+ chase isn't being gen rushed, it's you blowing it.
But if you use that first version, with builds included, how often do you see a team fully stacked with gen perks or BNPs? Not often? Basically never? Now how often do you see tunneling? Not every game, but far more than the gensquad.
And basekit gen regress was exactly what was proposed in the patch.
Spreading out is very strong and even if killer gets 90 seconds to get down its 2-3 gens done which is strong thats like 40-60% of survivor main objective second one is gates which take 20 seconds without any perks and killer has to get 12 hooks to get his objective done on 100% but realistic is around 6 hooks which can be hard if survivors play smart and loop well thats why you see that tunneling especialy on weaker killers on which is normal to have 4 hooks on last gen.

@cogsturning said:
As survivor, there are worse things. They are a nuisance but its manageable.
As killer, I rarely use them. Maybe one here and there but I always regret it. They're so boring.
Boring maybe but necessary for many killers to get chance, slowdown buys you most time then strategyes like tunneling and sluging and then few hexes like devour or full hex build can buy you some time but without these perks its just 90% guarantee genrush and endgame camping nothing more against survivors with 1,5-11k hours.
-
@Jog_Og said:
Most gen regression should be built into the killers basekit IMO
Thats what they did in this ptb with unique hooks and it makes sence basekit barbecue gives killer info there to go, pop gives him regressin he needs to have more time for chases and hooks and furthive chase some mobility but that isnt much helpfull only if you have high mobility killer like dreadge or wraith, sadako which can go across the map and use it in chase or someone near hooked survivor so the speed boost can help you in chase.

Define gen rushing.
Same question define tunneling?
If you mean killer going for one survivor ignoring others from the start or in early stage of the game thats tunneling for me thats need to be punished but hooking one person twice in a row doesnt mean to be direct tunneling for me like someone stepping in trappers trap or hags, being found injured in deadzone or someone using his antitunnel as shiedl for bodyblocks and then getting chased down and hooked isnt direct tunneling for me and this shouldnt be punished.
Genrushing for most people is team of survivors which has direct build for fast gens but if surivors spread and do gens supper effective (2-3 gens to the killers first hook or ended chase) and fast even ignore killers presence and fact they are injured then this isnt good either, survivors actualy can get many gens done if they spread and do them insted other actions and this isnt hard because in early stages of the game killer has to go through many paletts which means normaly 2-3 gens get done near first or second chase and then some paletts are broken and gen deffence which are the most used perks and strongest perks killer has they work with hooks most of them like pop, pain res, grim embrace, deadmans switch. There should be some basekit dying light which will slow gen speed or some other factor that increases gen regression if killer has like 2-4 hooks on last gen if they should be punishments for hooking same person twice which is ok inearly game but hardcore not to do in endgame and abuseable by smart teams like bodyblocks are (they are same as slugs just diversion for other survivors to waste time and for downed one to not being able to do objective or heal back).

I (a killer main) hate them because I'd rather have a swiss army knife of chase perks because I think that'd be funny. But in all seriousness, I feel like I need to bring multiple (mainly deadlock, grim and painres) and I'd rather have a more balanced build.
Problem is chase build work with specific killers and their addons but they are still worse on avarage than normal build which is mix of gen deffence and endgame perks. Why is that? With chase builds you need realy fast downs and chases to keep the preasure if you get longer chases or few missplays that cost you more time then gens will go and there isnt a single thing which can stop them only some tactics like slugging and tunneling and some mix of these strategyes but they will get nerfed and very restricted next patch in like two months so thats it.

Give me 3 undocumented killer nerfs that weren't immediately reverted after killers complained about them.
Skullmerchant butchery, hillbillyes overheat these are maybe documented others might be nurse nerf in 2018 or what was it when she had cleaning animation after blink hit and then went into fatigue, chucky nerfs no one asked for this and they were hard this only proofs his last nerf which was reverted in next ptb because not only killers complained but many survivors too and it meant chucky player base will be same as twins, every nerf is kinda documented but some were understandable others were random for no reason or super overdone like sm and these ptb antitunnel changes as well if they went live I guaranree you all weaker killers pick rates would drop drastically and stronger killers pick rate would go up. No one smart will tryhard as ghostface trying to win in mission impossible when there is blight who is more comfortable overall in all categories or ghoul, no one who plays casualy and doesnt try some insane chalanges as win with all killers using limited perks and addons or none of them will play them mainly.

We can definitely weaken the strong loops, for sure.
But bloodlust will have to go.
Bloodlust only helps killers that dont use power, if killer gets injure/hit or breaks something wall/palett or uses his power bloddlust resets so all you are saying is we should make loops less safe agaisnt all killers but still nerf most m1 killers which are those that use and need the bloodlust the most.

Its kinda like how i mained xeno until dracula came along. And springtrap does everything xeno does just better. If you want to keep playing the same one because hes ur favorite, no problem. But you are going to not enjoy most of your rounds as survivors have adapted over the years against stronger killers with new perks and such, and the mmr will stay high based on your rate of winning. But yea springtrap makes xeno feel reduntant because 1: he doesnt have his view glued to the floor. 2: he can hit over pallets just the same as xeno can, just with a bigger cooldown that can be shortened. 3: his doors are much easier to find, to reach, to travel with, and come with a long stealth buff after using them. 4: his counter with the doors revealing him is worthless and doesnt even bother you compared to turrets turning off your power completely and creating safezones everyone can build and run to at the first sign of danger, as well as telling them when you are coming.
But i still play xeno because i like it, i suffer but its atleast enjoyable sometimes. Maybe itd be the same with legion
Xeno now is so easy to react and doge that I dont want to play him because springtrap, nemesis or other range killers exist.

@Foggyguy said:
Yeah he got powercrept by ghoul hard. Legion has easy hits but they aren't free since survivors can do something but ghoul just exists to get a free hit.
The main difference is legion has to run his butt to the survivor and risk palett stun or miss more than ghoul who has more range and speed for his easy hit and if he doesnt get that hit still he has that great mobility which helps him catch up faster.
Legion is great against less experienced and newer players, he is better at injuring whole team but lacks the 1v1 effectivness and power to comit these chases which ghoul has covered in his kit. Thats why legion is so strong in 2v8 he just injures whole team faster than ghoul could but lacks the power to get fast downs which other killers doesnt have problem with.

No it's more so all your arguments thus far haven't been coherent. While you did clarify eventually English is not your first language to explain why none of your arguments made logical sense your argument here sums up to the fact you specifically like using gen slowdown perks for pressure instead of using chase perks. That's an argument that can be easily defeated by pointing out your current skill level.
I see we will end it here we got to the same part as before now you just dont call everyone skiless but bad at english quite poor arguments for someone I expect mature, your lgical part in your arguments is just calling everything you dont agree with unskilled which is ok from someone who playes only one side and you proofed my point when you called original BNP same as tunneling with required skill and effort this proofs further that you werent in old DBD if you were then you wouldnt say this nonsence. Chase perks can make chases fast and still hepl you win good exsample is hens video where he plays some build on spirit (+a-tier killer, she is in top 10 strongest killers even after many nerfs to her kit) which is from some of her main Idk the girls name but she was playing in his chucky vs spirit video as spirit, all that was about if he could have super fast chases withstrong killer which has solid mobility in her kit that you can win without slowdown or endgame perks but one or two longer chases against good survivors and some few other missplays such as not being able to locate survivors fast as your next target means gens will go super fast and there isnt much you can do to stop them maybe slug and tunnel to get upperhand but that wont be possible next patch (not with this 9.2. which should have these changes but they were delayed because of overtuned effects) so full chase build is just trying to stomp your opponent and if you dont get uppehand fast there isnt much you can do to come back compare to builds which have some gen deffence and endgame perks with synergy thats it. Im not so naive to call everyone who has problem with being tunneled skiless and bad to loop and teling them they need ds and other perks for their lack of skill as you, in DBD in fact its easier to play perkless and addonless (with item as survivor) survivor than perkless and addonless killer but your mmr (skill and experience of your opponents) with map rng and power of the killer you play are some factors which can change it ofcourse not all things arent always guarantee as you claim some things are but other things have chance of multiple outcomes.

I'd say it's more proof you are bad at killer if you are having trouble getting downs.
Here we go again calling people bad and unskilled because you have no more decent arguments just proofs my point more.
I could say the same with tunneling to you but Im not hypocritical as you and I play both sides more evenly unlike you.

Im afraid it will take long time to get this situation under control with cheaters not being detected fast enough and making normal players games misareable.

Gosh, maybe if you are having that much trouble you should put on chase perks instead of four gen slowdown. God forbid killers have to change their perks.
This proofs that you dont play killer that much even more for me chase perks? They are great in chase builds on few killers with good addons that have synergy but alone all they do is get you down few seconds faster and gens fly +30% faster which still leads to loss if you dont have 30 seconds chases with no lost time in finding survivors and getting to the most progressed gens and chasing them off.

@LordGlint said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4001265#Comment_4001265
depends on time spent. If you have 3 ppl following the chase the whole time, obviously no gens are getting done. As long as you leave at least 1 person on gens though... the killer is effectively stalled completely if they arnt allowed to hook or slug. You can't really be against slugging and call it boring, while ALSO allowing gameplay to deny hooking. Those go hand in hand.
I tried in other disscussion to explain this dreamer that when killer doesnt get hooks he cant presure gens only with few weaker regression perks and basekit regression the strongest regression perks and genblocking perks are bound to hooks so no hooks means no painres, pop, grim embrace and ded mans they are countered and even if one survivor is doing gens this will still lead to powered gates with killer having few hooks and no one dead which is easy 3 man out maybe 4 if the killer is m1 with no mobility or lethality like some sort of working instadown (mayers, bubba, billy are goo exsample ghostface has easy counter which can do even the hooke or downed survivor and theres nothing ghostface can do just pray if they missplay) but explaining this to guy who thinks tunneling one survivor is same in time and effort consuming as original BNP has no point in arguing.

Messing with that risks making him another hard-to-utilize-because-of-input-lag-and-low-framerates-and-analog-stick-limitations killer, and there are plenty of those already.
Old mayers kinda sucks in few ways evil within level 1 is bad and scratch mirror is dead (almost if you are lucky to get map) with small lunge, evil within level 2 is perfection by itself just normal m1 with faster vault and 16 meter terror radius and tier 3 without purple hair and faster staliking addons or purple tombstone is just meh and joke you spend so muyh stalking but all you get is 25% increased lunge which isnt much helpfull, instadowns but everybody predrops or asume you have tombstone so they play super safe and hide if they can and all for 60 seconds basekit which is joke if they should leave him into his current version he would need full lunge in evil within 1, some more buffs in tier two like 10% break and recovery after stun speed and the lunge part isnt bad idiea too and more of these buffs in tier 3 with tombstone being basekit for survivors dead on hook like his ptb version because he sucks both in stealth there are killers that can do it better like wraith, ghostface and his chase sucks even more which si bad comparing his current version to ghostface all that kepps him above ghostface is tombstone and the fact that he can secure kill when gates are powered with his one minute instadown which ghostface cant do maybe his synergy with bamboozle thats all.

Why addon he can mori survivor when he is dead hook (while in evil incarnate) so why dont give the same effect in exit area with lowering the requirement to one hook stage so mayers can mori him in exit gate area while in evil incarnate mode, you can argue blood warden whould be op but this perk only punishes teams that dont leave and still they can know it when blood warden is up and run out of exit gate area to get oneshot instead of moried.

Right… yeah just be literally flawless in every single move you make is certainly possible. I can see that the argument that it's not humanly possible to do this in any consistent manner is not working so how about this? What if the devs just made it so the other survivors hitbox had priority if they are in the same general area? Would you be okay with nerfing tunneling then or no?
Even if they made it that way we all know how they hitboxes work and stay without any problems few patches.

But they pulled the entire ptb test... early... because people melted down over the tunneling part.
So maybe, these aren't actually equivalent.
What they did was tunneling was made much harder and not impossible but you have paid price for doing it which could hurt killers that didnt tunnuled or didnt do it directly and bodyblocking was made harder but not impossible with dbd hitboxes.

Yeah the devs can say whatever they want, appeals to authority do not make for a good argument. Tunneling is a broken strategy that requires no skill from the killer besides holding forward and m1 prettymuch. But sure, let's say that it's not the exact same as old brand new parts. It's more like if instead of instantly fixing a gen it fixed 75% of a gen. Technically survivors would still have to do gens just like technically the killer is doing a viable strategy by tunneling. Just because something is 'viable' does not mean it's fair or well balanced.
Same as survivors forcing bodyblocks after unhook with ds abusing something that isnt meant to be for.

Are you calling them safe compared to the pallet that spawns next to the 1 foot wide tree? Or the 1 foot wide hedge in the corner of the map? As any killer, you loop the truck twice and force the survivor to throw the pallet, oh the horror. This is exactly what I mean. Oh there's a tile the killer is ACTUALLY weaker at? That provides a miniscule amount of safety for the survivors? Nope, let's nerf it and not tell anybody. Just like how they removed one of the bus windows on autohaven and just left a hole in the side instead. At this rate, every shack will have a breakable door and no window, and killers will still find a way to complain about shack.
The trucks are mindgame-able, and that's not even mentioning survivors getting stuck on broken collision because the game engine is running on duct tape and a dream.
Take godrock in exsample they arent one of the longest loops but they are safest more than many long loops why? because they are supper safe you see killer basicaly 99% of time he chases you there and there isnt no mindgame that can be pulled only dum bruteforcing the loop its same fun as chasing bot on any highwall loop same as chasing someone with wallhacks no mindgames, very little need of skill to loop and very safe.

Nah, sorry but tunneling is more like old brand new parts where sure it's the most effective strategy but it's cheesy and broken as hell and should be removed for the sake of the game or survivors should be given something equally busted like old brand new parts again.
Devs stated its viable strategy but they dont want it to be that abusable like tunneling one survivor on 4-5 gens and there arent no such things which could be compared in being busted as old mories, bnp or instaheals which were instant press of a button and survivor was killed, fully healed from gound or gen was don instantly.

Posts like this never make any sense tbh. Like every day here we see killers complain about gen rushing but the second there's another slightly viable playstyle they want it removed. Like make up your damn mind do you want survivors to just stay on gens the whole game or not?
Genrushing equels tunneling its just one side doing its objective fastest and easiest way which it can be done and its most effective way to do it.

Eh, even then it was not that big of an issue. Survivors spending the first five minutes of the game removing hooks instead of gens gave the killer a lot of time and made the matches much slower which is kind of what most killers want? Also there was always agi+iron grasp to get survivors to basement.
Hook abbo was supper slow and required good toolbox or saboteur from jake, agi+iron was meta not only because of this but because there werent any better perks like noed or whispers were good back then with brutal, endurending (countering ds) and perks like sloppy were trash. Super easy to tunnel someone, facecamping, no antitunnel exept strong borrowed time which was onetime use and not so many antislug perks, it was one side broken stuff vs other sides broken stuff and strategies nothing like nowdays and deffinitly almost nothing will be possible after the delayed changes hit live even in not so busted version.

I mean it was when hooks wouldn't respawn...
They can be huge issue if they are skilled players 4man swf and you play weaker killer which cant do much to sto them, I had even hard time against 5k above hours swf as singularity they were realy good at dennying me hooks and doing gens but missplayed in endgame because of their arogance and were super toxic in chatt as usualy they are only for few exeptions.
There isnt much killer kile ghostface can do against full antislug meta sabbo swf on strong map which favors more survivors, he cant stalk much either because sluged or hooked survivors can reveal you and stay under palett so other one can run around its loose loose situation where your only hope is they make mistake.

For newer players there are far better choices wraith easy to learn and effective, doctor, legion or huntress just few games to figure her aim and charge time or you can just jump on nurse if you want to be hardcore winner after many lost games or billy just so many better choices that trapper and thats coming from trapper main.

Its only behavior shame that their poster boy is biggest clown in their game and his power is just lucky (skill+opportunity) with rng like map, grass, angles survivor is looking or swf which calls out his traps but didnt bhvr confirm his rework like in 2026. He needs buffs now imagine if the antichanges that were moved to next ptb release were released no trapper would be almost guarantee lost he cant go for every fresh cahse and his power is just slow fat spider setting small webs and waitng for flyes to get caught so he can grab them but now is survivor protected fron antitunnel ptb changes steps into your trap you can just watch him and do nothing or you will be punished sam as blight tunneling on 5 gens one guy like in some competitive tournament which is bad and not fair.
