So you are saying DS has a hard counter so its not good enough to stop tunneling? If so whats that hard counter? I cant exactly see your point.

No, DS counters tunneling. Should have clarified.

  • @DawnMad said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/980929#Comment_980929

How would DS justify tunneling exactly? Survivors are the players who suffer from tunneling, so without DS there wouldnt be any reason for a killer not to tunnel. DS doesnt justify tunneling, it punishes it.

DS currently is important for discouraging killers to tunnel, but it does this in a poor way that punishes non tunneling killers time to time. If DS is gonna get changed again this should be kept in mind.

DS would justify tunneling because there is a hard counter to it

It's not just the god windows. It's also the size of the old maps. As a killer like pig, applying gen pressure is nigh impossible on a huge map like that simply because of how long it takes to get from A to B, especially in stealth mode.

Definitely! I was just using them as an example

  • @Poochkips said:

Hmmmmm, I don't think so. I think if a survivor hops in a locker they should lose DS. This is one of the easiest ways to even tell someone has DS. That would stop people from abusing it to a god mode level. I think that would be a good nerf. It was a step in the right direction with taking away the infinity of when it could be used. For me, most of the time, i honestly slug off hook. Not everyones gonna do that though :x

So you so agree it should be changed! Glad to hear it. I personally think it should last until you get in a locker, get healed, get on a gen/totem, or until someone else gets hooked. This might seem like a lot, but it will prevent it from being 60 seconds of no consequences.

I personally think they should by default give her 5 traps and take away the long cast time of her charge. Make it a lot less. at least a second of casting, maybe go a bit less of a distance to balance it. It would make people actually use it lol

Yeah, Pig definitely needs a rework.

  • @Actually_Jesus said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/980920#Comment_980920

It's not necessarily the KILLERS that need changing. It's the maps. Notice how it's all the OLD maps with balance issues? They all need to be updated.

Absolutely agree! I hate when one of the OP windows spawns on Macmillan Estate and I instantly know the time that can be wasted there is basically a free gen.

No from my perspective i've noticed most of us killers just whine that it needs to be removed or nerfed. with a lot also saying DS rewards you for playing poorly. These same people then say it takes no skill to loops or run from killer. Also those same people just want it to be removed because "There should be any second chance perks" Then you look at NoED which is a last chance/ Second chance perk lmfao. Sooooo

But it's not getting changed, so does DS justify tunneling?

  • @Actually_Jesus said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/980860#Comment_980860

And then you end up on Mothers Dwelling, where they literally have time to get 2-3 gens done by the time you "stealth" to the other side of the map.

You're not taking everything into account.

There are some problems that can't be solved with perks. Pig is always gonna have bad map pressure until she gets changed. And you don't have to crouch the whole way.

I'm just trying to give helpful feedback and useful suggestions to someone who asked for it. How would you deal with a gen being done on the other side of Mother's Dwelling as Pig?

  • @Poochkips said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/980860#Comment_980860

I should definitely try Iron Maiden. Maybe Iron Maiden, Corrupt, Discordance and surveillance? Or i can replace it with Pop. ( I kinda wish pig had like 6-7 traps to make her stalling a bit better, but sucks to suck lol) I'm guessing when people see corrupt most would just rather wait it off. Haven't tried it since the first couple times then got upset i couldn't find anyone and threw ruin on lol. So these ideas are a nice one for me :D Thank you!

    Glad I could help! ;)

  • @PB182 said:

For the killers that don't tunnel or feel that Ds is unfair, I feel for you, but you got to understand that for every one killer that doesn't there's about 10 toxic killers that do.

And so my question is, since DS can screw you over without tunneling, would killers be justified in tunneling anyways since survivors have a counter.

    What I see is:

    - gets DSed without tunneling, gets told to not tunnel

    So is the inverse okay?

    - gets tunneled without DS, gets told to just bring DS

  • @Poochkips said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/980808#Comment_980808

I tried corrupt back when i first started playing as a killer, I think i just sucked at the time (Might wanna run whispers or something) everyone just hid from me until corrupt was gone :c I think corrupt will be a good replacement to ruin in a sense though. (It lasts about as long as ruins lifespan so lol)

If you don't like Corrupt, then I'd probably take Surveillance or Discordance on Pig so that you know where to approach stealthily, Iron Maiden or Bitter Murmur on Huntress dor fast reloads or sniping, respectively, and for Clown, I hate to say it but your best shot might be Franklin's Demise since he's a M1 killer and really weak.

  • That seems like a good build except for Overcharge. I'd put Corrupt Intervention instead, especially for Pig, so you'll have time to get your first helmet before the first gen.

I think there is some valid criticism of the changes, how they were presented, and how the devs and community managers are responding. But people should keep it civil and relevant, and not attack individuals for something that isn't related to the game

  • I try to be civil and reasonable... it's those people who disagree with me who are the problem!

Every single person who plays this game well was a newbie to begin with. Guess what we did? We got good at hitting skill checks. Sounds to me like you want to be rewarded with escape without actually getting better at the game. Okay. Now that Hex ruin is gone, what is going to be your next complaint? Two health states not enough? Will you want double windows back on the killer shack? Old self care? Toolbox buff? Because I guarantee you it won't ######### end here. This constant backsliding, one sided balancing and appealing to weak players like you is why I quit this game in the first place. Remember when people used to take the time to learn a game's mechanics instead of complaining that it doesn't cater to them? Yeah I remember that too.

Oh. And being that I work with veterans who deal with actual PTSD, I don't like it when people use it to describe a ######### game mechanic that requires you to have rudimentary timing. That is so infuriating to me everytime someone does it. I don't care if you didn't mean it as actual PTSD. I don't care if it was hyperbole. Its extremely disrespectful to use a serious mental illness as a fulcrum for your inability to hit a ######### great skill check. ######### you for that.

Thank you for calling out the PTSD thing. As someone with literal, diagnosed depression, I really don't like the way people make light of serious topics like suicide and #########. Don't say you want to ######### because of the Ruin change or the people who don't like the Ruin change or dropping your toast butter aide down. Mental health is no joke.

People should bring DS anyway - even if you don't tunnel as a killer there are a dozen others I come across in a night that do.

But what I'm saying is, does the existence of DS tunneling is okay?

Yeah, I've been really struggling with the new Shock Therapy. Finding it very... frustrating, ironically 😋 Much more so than I ever did playing Doc before. They have confirmed that they are going to do something about the cooldown, though, so at least there's that.

I feel like they added a delay between when the shock wave appears and when it affects survivors

I'm so glad it's not just me! I'm not a killer main, but I am a Doctor main, so I know when my Shock Therapy should have hit. And at least half of the attacks on the PTB that definitely should have hit just... didn't. The survivor just walked out of the cone and was fine. No scream, no bloodpoints, nothing.

Also, I agree that the Ruin changes were problematic in a lot of ways, although I have slightly different reasons for disliking them. I definitely think that the wording of the Designer Notes got this whole thing off to a bad start, though.

I'd say music comes under Doctor changes, but thanks for sharing that as well! 😊

What are your reasons for disliking the new Ruin?

  • The new Treatment Theater looks absolutely awesome! It looked like a hospital before, now it looks like an insane asylum! Here's hoping Crotus Prenn gets looked at the same way, imagine the cramped, twisting hallways of the main building looking like the new Treatment Theater!

However, I sadly feel that the new Treatment Theater is overshadowed by the Ruin nerf and the Doctor... changes.

I hesitate to call the Doctor changes a nerf because I really don't think they were intended that way, and I hope that we see him improved from the PTB. I actually really like the Static Blast, and I feel like it effectively replaced the Static Field without changing The Doctor's playstyle. But the changes to the Static Shock don't make sense to me. First of all, I feel like they added a delay between when the shock wave appears and when it affects survivors. Idk if this is my computer being janky or an unintended bug or something made so the survivors wouldn't be frustrated, but it feels weird as killer and let's be real, who can dodge a lightning bolt? Additionally, the delay between Static Shock and an M1 attack is way too much. Doc used to have some anti looping ability, since a good Doc could time his shoc in order to a vault bloc. But for real, the delay means that the Static Shock might as well not keep survivors from vaulting or dropping pallets as all. Now if a Doctor wants to counter looping, they have to do it through perks.

And most contentious of all, Ruin. I know the Ruin nerf (and yes, this is a nerf) has basically caused the DbD Community Civil War, chapter 38, but for those not already entrenched in their side, I will try to explain why I, and many others, don't like it.

-Many killers feel that gens go by too quickly, especially early game. The killer is one person looking for one of four moving targets that are actively trying to avoid them. The survivors are four people each trying to find one of seven stationary targets with blinking lights above them. From the start of the match, survivors have way more momentum than killers.

-Also, while survivors understandably weren't crazy about old Ruin, I'm pretty sure most survivors would prefer Ruin to being camped, tunneled, or slugged. But all those strategies have Ruin's effect in a different way. Camping keeps someone on the hook- and not doing gens- for longer. Tunneling gets someone dead- and not doing gens- faster. And slugging keeps someone downed- and not doing gens- while forcing someone else to get off gens to help them. Ruin keeps at least some survivors looking for a totem- and not doing gens. If all survivors are doing gens at their current speed in the early game, the killer is screwed.

-Lastly, the presentation of this nerf really got under a lot of people's skin. It was framed as being changed because it frustrated survivors and was widely used. To many killers, this feels like BHVR is just looking at the stats, and not considering the reasons behind them, or worse, catering to survivors and using the stats to justify it.

One more thing that wasn't in the poll: I really freaking love the new music!!!

  • @Shindu said:

noed has nothing to do with gen speed. what are you talking about. and I'm not comparing the two someone else is. they are completely different. I dont slow down survivors, survivors gen speed , at all with noed.

NOED gives you a big boost if there is at least one totem left when all gens are popped. Therefore, the only way to counter NOED before gens are done is to cleanse all the totems. Survivors looking for and cleansing totems are survivors who aren't doing gens.

NOED does not directly affect gen speed. What it does do is force survivors to decide if they want to risk NOED but get out faster or take the time to do totems. NOED doesn't slow down survivors, it's very existence makes it a risk for survivors not to slow themselves down.

And maybe you weren't comparing Ruin and NOED, but I am :-)

  • @Holdonholdon said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/976741#Comment_976741

I disagree. Him comparing noed and ruin lol. its completely different than using ruin. Ruin is to slow down the game right? Noed isnt. Noed is endgame, I allow the survivors to do their thing and at the end of my totem isnt broken it could be to my advantage. I still have a great time I alot of fun allowing the survivors to go agaisnt me without using ruin, being active and I dont hve to sit around and rely on a ruin to slow down the game without little effort than as a killer that doesnt use ruin and gain, having to be more active AS A KILLER. (Not being a potato killer). take it how you want it. I wasnt being disrespectful. But you'll and anyone will take it how you want to. Learn to play the game without ruin, you might like it and be more active in the game.

NOED and (old) Ruin are opposite sides of the same coin. Ruin forced survivors to not focus solely on gens, or if they did, significantly slows them down. Ruin allowed survivors to only do gens, but punished them harshly for it. They both dealt with the problem of gen speed, but in different ways.

  • My default is gonna be NOED, Enduring, Spirit Fury, and Franklin's

This could be possible but I think you are missing a very important information about the Trapper.

The Trapper was tortured into submission by the Entity and wouldn't dare to not follow the rules and orders given to him by the Entity.

It is also not clear how much of his old self is still in the Trapper maybe he got tortured into a mindless killingmachine with no other thoughts

That's very true, there is a lot of room for interpretation concerning how much direct control The Entity has over killers.

  • How is it not? Moris are a huge advantage for killers.

Noed and Franklin’s aren’t exactly toxic and neither are moris

It's what will get the survivors complaining

  • @GrootDude said:

I will not be bringing moris and I don’t understand why you wanna punish survivors when hardly anyone complained about ruin.

I used to be someone who rolled their eyes when someone said the devs only care about survivors. But this has made me into an actual 20%er. I am forced to conclude that either the devs are complete idiots or they only listen to survivors.

So I intend to get on the toxic killer protest bandwagon. If we make the survivors whine because killers are being toxic over the Ruin nerf, either the devs will either revert Ruin (or add something else to keep gens from being done super fast), or nerf killers more. If it's the first option, great. If it's the second, bye.

So yeah. I'm gonna start stockpiling moris. And I'm gonna start searching the blood web for NOED and Franklin's. And I'm going to pray BHVR comes to their senses.

So you're taking out your frustration on the community when the devs made the changes? So your goal is to purposely make the game unfun for other survivors because of a decision made by the devs? You think that will make the game better or make the devs listen to you? So your logic is when something you don't agree with is nerfed by the devs the best way to go about it is to purposely try to take the fun outta the game for everyone else. Put the blame where it belongs, not all survivors were wanting a ruin nerf. If you got a problem voice your opinion to the devs but taking it out on the whole survivor community is just immature. Sorry if I sound rude but the way you're going about things won't solve anything.

I mean,I bet with that much of frustration we will see MAJOR changes next season. Imagine ruin for 30 secs of the game as a new perk (not hex as a passive)

I bet next season it's gonna have so much ######### about gens I honestly can't wait.

Also,I get the frustration, but the devs do have a point,so let them do their job and have patience. I believe that major changes are coming.

I would really like to believe that, but my faith in BHVR has been seriously shaken. It used to be that whenever someone complained that BHVR was survivor sided, I would just roll my eyes and keep scrolling. But now I think the 20%ers might have a point.

Either the devs know how crucial Ruin is for some killers and nerfed it anyway, or they didn't know. I don't know which is worse but it doesn't really matter. The end result is that, especially at high ranks, you're going to see a lot less of the low to mid tier killers. If they did not know how unpopular this was going to be, then quite frankly, they're stupid.

  • I'm frustrated because BHVR said "it isn't a nerf because we're also making gatekeeper easier". But the only people who care about the emblems are people going for adept and apparently Tru3talent.

I can't think anyone out there is willing to stand against the U.S. in defense of Iran. I don't think anyone really wants another global conflict against the U.S. and, AFAIK, there isn't really much Iran can do to give someone a good incentive to start one on their behalf.

It almost certainly wouldn't start WWIII. The most plausible way for that to happen would be if Trump actually attacked the 52 Targets he tweeted about. Since some of those targets are cultural sites, that would be a war crime, and if he just completely ignored international law regarding that sort of thing, it might spur other countries to action.

But likely what will happen is Iran will retaliate with more asymmetrical warfare. They'll carry out attacks through Hezbollah and the Houthis, while Iran itself will maintain plausible deniability, and they can focus their diplomacy on embarrassing trump. That sounds pretty, and in some ways it is, since trump definitely cares about his public image. But if they embarrass him politically, that will hurt his reelection campaign, and pretty much any alternative to Trump would be, if not friendlier to Iran, at least a lot more predictable and consistent.
