Arguments can be made that using AI to craft forum posts for debates about Dead by Daylight is acceptable, particularly when focusing on aspects such as efficiency, intellectual augmentation, and the potential for a more structured discourse. The practice, however, requires a clear ethical framework based on transparency and proper usage to be truly acceptable. When viewed as a tool for enhancing, rather than replacing, genuine human thought and interaction, AI can play a legitimate role in gaming communities.
Efficiency and intellectual augmentation
One of the primary benefits of using AI in forum discussions is the enhanced speed and efficiency it offers. AI can process vast amounts of information, including patch notes, gameplay statistics, and community feedback, to quickly generate well-structured arguments. This saves players the significant time and effort that would otherwise be spent on research and writing, allowing them to participate in a larger number of discussions or delve deeper into niche topics. For a game as complex and frequently updated as Dead by Daylight, this ability to rapidly synthesize information can lead to more informed and timely debates.
AI can also serve as an intellectual sparring partner, helping users to refine their own ideas. By using an AI to generate a counter-argument to a personal viewpoint, a player can test the strength of their own logic and identify potential weaknesses before posting. This process pushes the user toward a more nuanced and resilient argument, ultimately elevating the quality of the discussion. This method transforms AI from a content generator into a tool for critical thinking and strategic analysis, which are valuable skills in any debate.
Structuring and clarifying arguments
AI's capacity for generating clear and structured arguments helps to combat the disorganization and emotional bias that can plague online forums. AI-generated posts can present points in a logical, numbered, or bulleted format, making them easier for other users to read and understand. This reduces the potential for misinterpretation and helps to focus the conversation on the substance of the ideas rather than rhetorical flourishes or personal attacks. By providing a clean, logical foundation, AI can make online debates more productive and less toxic.
This structure is particularly valuable in a game like Dead by Daylight, where discussions often revolve around balance changes, character abilities, and gameplay strategies. An AI can organize a complex argument about a killer's power or a survivor's perk, for instance, by outlining strengths, weaknesses, and potential solutions based on available data. This brings a level of technical precision to the conversation that might otherwise be missing, encouraging a more data-driven and less emotionally charged debate.
The ethical imperative of transparency
For AI-assisted forum use to be truly acceptable, the user must prioritize ethical transparency. As with any AI-generated content, failing to disclose its use can damage trust within the community. When players discover an AI-generated post that is passed off as a human's original thought, it can lead to accusations of deception and erode the integrity of the discussion. The solution is not to ban AI, but to be open about how it was used—for drafting, researching, or structuring a post.
Being transparent fosters a healthier community environment where players can appreciate AI as a legitimate tool, much like a writer uses a spellchecker. Furthermore, this transparency helps differentiate between a human's unique perspective and an AI's synthetic one, addressing concerns that online forums could become saturated with "robotic" and predictable content. By upholding the standard of honesty, AI can be integrated into the forum ecosystem in a manner that serves, rather than undermines, the community.
Conclusion
Ultimately, the acceptability of using AI for Dead by Daylight forum debates hinges on its application as an enhancing tool rather than a deceptive replacement for human thought. When employed to improve efficiency, augment critical thinking, and clarify complex arguments, AI serves a legitimate and constructive purpose. Provided that users maintain a firm commitment to transparency, the practice can help elevate the quality of discourse in the gaming community. Rather than fearing AI's presence, players can harness its power to foster more organized, informative, and intellectually rigorous debates.

at this point idc, I just want all the killers to flush out the odds of Oni/Legion; that combo is the worst 2v8 has to offer, so things can only get better from here, right? I hate most of the 2v8 roster anyways.
a Komoney duo at least is an interesting pair. that already sounds fun.
-
I already do exactly this with springtrap lol. who needs gen regression? you got 5 whole generators to kill 1 guy for that precious 1v3 then you get 4 perks to toy with the remaining 3.
since these perks are failsafes, they give me the room to relax and take it easy if I'm dominating too much.

It's mostly only annoying when they turn a paragraph of information into an essey. Other then that it can be a pretty useful tool for non English natives.
non natives typically have better English because they speak "properly". liek, oh my glob that's amazeballs.

you can't please everybody; i had survivor insist that any killer who gives hatch is teaming and is reportable. that was the comment that made me stop caring about what people say/think and just do what I feel like because no matter how great and nice and awesome you are, someone somewhere will hate your guts
-
it's tough out there these days I hope you can find some shelter and stability soon. if you have a Costco membership I'd recommend going there and live off the food samples as a last resort.
stay safe and I'm sorry to hear about your situation

They are upset because tunneling someone out and making the game a 3v1 instead of a 4v1 is the easiest way to play Killer. It is not even a strategic decision (since I have seen some people claim that they are taking strategies away), because tunneling someone out is always the best choice, since you basically secure your win at this point.
The changes now discourage this and encourage going for different Survivors. Overall, it will be fine, but people like to panic and being loud instead of trying to adapt.
I'm down for these changes. I've always been a loud, bitter minority for it but part of the reason I've always been vocal about hating the reworked Pain Res was because I went out of my way to overwhelm survivors by 8 hooking them and farming pain res regression off everybody. thr new pain res was technically healthier but most people used the stronger token regression as a one off while they tunnel that first token out.
I feel like I'm getting an old friend back
-
@AmpersandUnderscore said:
Based on the reactions at least, a reduction of hard tunneling will also mean that 2-3 of the survivors are no longer just left to their own devices to do nothing but gens while the killer puts all the pressure on one person.
People might actually find that pressuring survivors to stop them from doing gens coincidentally slows down gen progress.
numbers are nice, but what i love is seeing how numbers effect human bhvr; I remember people celebrated the 6.1 survivor nerfs, a few of us were naive to think we could finally goof off with Brutal EndFury but making generators take an extra 10 seconds just forced survivors to stop goofing off and prioritize gens. that numbers change felt net neutral in the end as a result of players adjusting to the objective nerfs to the survivor role.
luckily for me I feel like I'm just getting flat buffs so I'm not too worried

my solution to tunneling would be to just give up on this TCM idea of hooks and embrace My Little Oni/F13 and just give you one life, able to be instantly morid. that's an immediate end to tunneling right there.
I never played it, but from my understanding this exact feature was literally one of the nails in the coffin for Death Garden.
oh yeah? I never got to check out that bhvr game seems it was before my time.
only thing that sucks about my idea is that mistakes are a bit more severe but with it maybe we could go back to the more survivor sided map layouts. one life on meat plants doesn't sound bad to me, but old new old new haddonfield would just be terrible.

For anyone not knowing it until now - they did not only increase the Pallet Density for the maps but also changed some Tiles. E.g. Crotus Prenn now features new Tiles, which look overall weaker than the Jungle Gyms and Longwalls which were the most common Tiles before. But they added more Pallets. So it is not like they only buffed all of the Maps, the Maps which were already good for Survivor also got changes in their Tile Structure.
I only played against Haddonfield from the Maps (aside from Crotus Prenn) which are mentioned and it felt better with more Pallets.
thats reassuring to know. face any Ghouls on these changed levels? I'm wondering if Haddonfield is still anxiety inducing to face that killer but his kidnap tech is gone...dare I get excited for the survivor role?

I'm not against the idea of the new changes, it just seems kinda convoluted.

They want to sell licensed Feng Min cosmetics to 12 year olds. They probably feel much better after an escape.
I bet BHRV markting team figured out they do this more often after winning.
leave Min out of this >:(

it was special when Pinhead came but yeah it's a bit much now. I really hope old survivors are never given lines
-
pain res was always a meta crutch it was only a matter of time until balance would touch that perk
I'm happy to see tiny Oppression buffs for like, the 13th time in a row lol
-
I'm so happy we finally nerfed that op nonsense that was pain resonance
-
it's a step in the right direction. I'm just keeping my head down for now since there's a lot
-
I'm sure my Slugeki will appreciate this, but idk about the sneaky bros. it seems Nurses got buffed so at least there's no worry about my TR leaking
-
these drac changes might kill the wolf only build; the killer doll afdon let you get pounce back in 2 orbs, does anybody know if that's still true?
he was the goodest boi :(
also, rip Babysitter

@Rogue11 said:
He's currently just better spirit with 3 extra powers. He needs to be brought down to A tier. Same for Ghoul, Nurse, and Blight. Then they can make overall balance adjustments without resulting in people winning 2k straight matches as certain overpowered characters.
people would rather face Dracula than spirit anyways. drac is an honest killer without the accessibility nightmare of spirit.

i think someone requested some BHVR streams of playing the game, it was shut down with the argument that when they are off from work, they dont want to focus on dbd. I get that, but perhaps someone should have that job then, so that they actually can make their own hopefully unbiased feedback. I think some BHVR members play survivor, im not sure about killer.
both mclean and almo streamed dbd when they were here not sure who publicly plays these days. Mandy pops in on Hens id love to see her squad up sometime

I agree. What's important to me rn is stability. I much prefer it over new content. Thankfully that is on the way my friend. Hopefully they keep it that way too.
yknow, I'm still waiting for Dog Lady to be in a decent state for long enough where I'll muster the courage to play her for a bit but I feel like that time is never here.
-
hex: crow job
it curses the entire survivor team, causing them to suffer the Incapacitated status effect and force them to move to the basement, where they must fast vault a locker to trigger a loud noise notification for the killer.
-
i buy all killers with shards but I'm a tad burned out. I'm still riding the high from fnaf that I dont really want much rn other than a stable game.
-
I'm more worried about my crow perk being touched i hear it was on the radar again

I don't get these posts, you have 1 hook with 2 gens left and you still think you deserve your free 4k ? if your first chase was extremely long maybe don't commit so hard, you're getting outplayed why should you win the game ?
what kind of mindset is that? sounds dangerously like " i got hooked in the first minute; time to give up on hook" sort of thing.

Your clearly misunderstanding or just a troll he can still get the hit just survivor isn't locked in place while his blood drinking takes place
if both actors are locked in place I don't see what the deal is. what's the point of being a flesh eating Cannibal if you don't munch while on top of somebody?

I promise you that's not even the top three parts of what's worst about Ghoul from survivor side. The no skill uncounterable 1st hit is by far the most frustrating part. Then the fact he has basekit scamper that was somehow too strong on a 110 movement speed killer. Kidnap tech was just the cherry on top of the slop that is the ghoul.
nobody considers skill when they face nurse/Blight, i guarantee you the skill aspect of the Ghoul is largely irrelevant in comparison to kidnap tech.

I listed the issues in a response post here to Mandy but If i were to offer solutions he should just be reworked his design simply gives to much reward for little effort compared to other S tiers like nurse and blight.
But if it were just to be nerfs or simple changes
Ghoul:
Scamper Removed
Grab attack no longer locks Survivor in place during animation
Kagune Leap power cancel increased by 3 seconds
is the Ghoul supposed to just stand there while the survivor makes free distance?

Unknown "buff" was so fun to read. 4 lines of text that are combined by the word "nothing".
teleport buffs made me sigh.... like that's the least interesting part of their kit. I really wanted basekit monitor :(
-
these Drac changes hurt my wolf only Drac :(
-
@Mandy said:
The most frustrating part about The Ghoul from survivor side, was his "kidnap tech", by removing that we feel that this will open the door for survivors to have counterplay to the killer, we've already seen this happening amongst survivors even with kidnap tech.
I appreciate this; Ghoul may need further adjustments, but it's nice to see how he will fare after this. I was worried we were going to take a heavy handed approach.
-
I appreciate Unknown buffs, but buffing teleport is the wrong way of strengthening them. it's the least skillful part of his kit, and it's already what most average Unknowns rely on.
-
what correlation is there between console and afk? how do you know you weren't paired with epic or windows store?
-
they promised it wouldn't come back, just like Legacy. Bringing the regular outfits back is incredibly fair and generous.

@AmpersandUnderscore said:
As far as we've been told, each gen is counted the same and each hook. Although the effect does stack, which is the point for helping mitigate snowballing for either side.
I'm not sure why you think this makes "spreading hooks" worse. Spreading hooks is literally spreading the pressure, which is automatically slowdown: survivors physically can't do gens of the killer is giving them attention, and can do whatever they want if the killer is hard focusing one person out of the game.
Having someone not touching a gen at all is worth way, way more than just letting them do a gen for free, at least for the killer.
if each hook increases gen speeds, and each fresh hook grants a survivor power, you really need to make the gen speed increase worth it by killing people. if you don't kill, you make the gens too fast by being nice. you also lose out on gen auras foe the fresh hooks. you need those auras because those are your tunnel tickets. you have to leave 2-3 survivors alone
-
I wouldn't say so, but I haven't really noticed. it's the same as ever, I feel. if the survs just refuse to do anything when SB+Finesse is on cooldown, they are stacking Vigil and on comms you just lose. then when you play a terrible level as Ghoul where survs aren't doing all that they just explode.
-
I'm glad it got extended because I was on a bit of a dbd break. I replaced dbd for rivals as a casual fun party game for a bit
-
I love borrowed time because Slingers can only count to 10
-
you are the regression, which is why mobility is king, like always. even teams that lack synergy like Billy/Spirit are good just because of that
-
@Shinkiro said:
Just admit you dont actually like DbD… 2v8 is the most boring, watered down, hyper casual, bare bones experience in the game with no skill expression or longevity to it and it sucks so bad, easily the worst thing they've ever put out. The game would be long dead if it was the default game like many of you want it to be.
is juicing 2 killers at the same time not the height of ultimate skill expression?
-
it's just proven that when a human encounters another that is vulnerable and defenceless, people see that as an opportunity to act with impunity. asymm genre just brings that nasty fact of life out front and center. toxicity exists in all games but the imbalanced power dynamic just activates peoples neurons in all the wrong ways.

sucks we aren't allowed to discuss balance all because of queue times. meanwhile, a previous 2v8 had a wait time of 5 minutes for a while.
I guess if we make the only playable killer Skull Merchant, we'll be allowed to make suggestions?

I feel like even if we did get Dracula’s castle as a map it would probably be an RPD situation where the map could be too faithful and just end up being a nightmare to play on for both sides.
Draculas Castle is perfect for BHVR because canonically, the layout of the Castle is ephemeral and transient so Bhvr could do anything they felt like and it could be canon, they have free creative control.
