You can already set your steam profile to private so that people don't bother you if you're in the unfortunate position where you've been frequently harassed by other players in the community. It's never happened to me before personally, but I've heard some horror stories of some really malicious individuals that exist that take things a step too far. So if you're looking for immediate changes that is always an option.
In the same way, I wonder if maybe it might be a good idea to make it a toggle option in Dead by Daylight itself, as an option to hide your profile or not. Survivors / Killers can decide if they want the link to their steam profile to be visible, and if they choose to they can hide it from other players if they feel it's necessary, or if that's just something they want to do.
Not one of the poll options but felt it should be suggested anyway ^
I'm not too sure I like the idea of making it a forced change that needs to apply to everyone is all.
The problem is that there's been cases of killers with a grudge towards someone with a profile name BMing them in game. Outside of game a private profile will do, in game it gets absurd

Spirit is an extremely easy killer yeah, you don`t need much beyond good headphones AND stridor, add ons are gravy and so are any other perks

They used to do that, and people complained when those releases were delayed. When they weren't delayed, people complained about the quality of the releases. Now, without the devs saying anything, people still hype themselves up and blame the devs because their completely self-made expectations aren't met.
There's no winning this. I don't blame the devs for shutting down most communication when people complain every single time. They might as well save themselves the trouble and do nothing, it's easier on the nerves.
It doesn't matter if people complains about open communication setting the release dates and the delays as they should. It was the right thing to do regardless of how everyone felt, now they're leaving everyone in the dark with their releases and communication and that is absolutely the wrong thing to do, which should be an issue even if nobody complained about it.

I can't imagine a life whereas I'm quaking in fear out of "WGLF and soul guard squads", you guys ok?
It sounds to me like you're super afraid of a meme scenario that requires at least a 3 man to work out properly, WGLF is still kind of a joke perk I rarely see ran around and most def don't want a build that depends on others, why most perks that keeps the engines of gen doing and looping are personal self pick ups/unhooks/healing and wiggling out (ds)

I'm not talking about that. I'm talking about how the entity clearly spices up the look and wardrobe of its killers if it wants to.
It's more likely to do it to non willing killers, willing killers like Michael Myers and Ghost Face are absolutely untouched, same for pig and arguably legion

I appreciate that they’re trying to do something different with this killer, but he still isn’t my cup of tea, either. Trickster is a poor choice for his character and I don’t really see how his knife flinging fits with his backstory. He should shoot flames or something if he burned his bandmates alive.
Did you actually read the lore? Dude was always up with knife tricks ever since he was a child, and carried them into adulthood in his career.
And he didn't burn his bandmates alive, he *allowed* them to burn alive by neglecting to help them.

If sexuality has no place in dbd why is there sexuality in it already?
Are we fighting to remove Felix's girlfriend, David's ex, and do a total revamping of Nurse's lore which the driving force in her insanity was the loss of her fiance/husband?
No? Not a peep about it?
Then sexuality isn't the problem for you all, the problem is that LGBTQ+ individuals that exists loud and proud despite being heavily killed or suffer prejudice in all forms is a problem for you, because they dare exist in a way that they can be perceived.
Heterosexuality was always shoved in our faces, but apparently that isn't a problem, the problem is when queer individuals dare exist or love.
-
Nurse's most shattering moment that will be the true vulnerability point of hers that will allow her to actually go insane within the asylum was her husband dying, her lore in the rift even filled with fantasizing about her husband still being alive then being taken away from her, wedding dress and gift dress from him also being cosmetics and also her embracing her dead husband as a charm: not a peep from "games/horror shouldnt have sexuality" crowd
The possibility of a LGBTQ+ character, the possibility of a LGBTQ+ character existing:
***WAAAAH THEYRE SHOVING IT ON OUR FACES, LOUD QUEER PEOPLE BAD, CANT WEAR RAINBOW, BAD. I HATE WHEN THEY EXIST IN WAYS THAT I CAN PERCEIVE THEM***
-
If I'm bloodlusting I'm already losing so I wouldn't mind the loss of it.

Why us sexual orientation a topic in video games like dbd in the first place?
It's like there is entire tomes and entries about characters and their backstories or something being released every few months or so... Maybe I'm just going into hysterics though.

Why can't their be a sprint meter.
They can't? Killers should be able to hit them eventually, a sprint meter would be an immense nerf which probably would also require killers to be made slower.

You know what builds more effective tension?
Not knowing.....
People would run spine chill so they would know, and it would make it even less interactive than looking around while you do a gen, because you'd be staring at One object for 90% of the game since survivors are most often doing an action like healing, totems, searching, opening gates or doing gens.
I would quit because I would feel beyond unstimulated and I wouldn't want to be the chased 24/7 either.
-
It's like every step we take in trying to make this game less toxic the other players seems to find a way to make it two steps back.

As a killer main, I have to agree with @Orion! Not because I'm a killer main, but simply because there's 4 survivor's. If you've play in a SWF you'll get what I'm throwing at you.
Let's say it's you, Dwight, David, and Kate. Dwight will be on his second hook next hook, David is on his last hook and being tunneled, and Kate has only been hooked once, and you haven't been hooked yet. David is being tunneled and all of you are nearby to keep David alive. Dwight takes a hit to protect David, which slows the killer down, it's now up to you and Kate to block the killer and take a hit to protect daddy and David. One of y'all take the hit and the other takes a hit. After everybody took a hit David is long gone and everybody has scattered and trying to heal and the the killer is chasing the 4th person that got hit.
This is the best I can do on why I believe the killer should be the power role, and why all 4 survivor's working together should either be on par or make the killer struggle in a 4v1
I'm sorry I don't want to derail but the typo of Dwight to Daddy is hilarious. Jokes aside, yeah, that is the point of a 1v4 game.

Since you edited the comment after I replied,I'll do so again. I'm not that person to have that argument with,as I would usually agree. Yes,I would like some representation that isn't just a character that has the lore you described. I wasn't demanding,it was an offhanded request,if that. If I've been playing games for 30 years and can only think of a handful of Spanish or Hispanic characters that weren't a stereotype, isn't that "underrepresented"? Nobody has even made suggestions of other games, and when they did, some aren't what I'm even talking about. Maybe the lore is so thin, that's what people instantly gravitate too. Most of the other characters I wouldn't consider to be a stereotype of their race. I agree and disagree with you at the same time.
Most people in this forum will react absurdly to people wanting representation and asking such out of developers and the likes, then they will turn around and start screeching like pterodactyls when also we don't buy games that have the same 100% white and from USA cast because "how dare you not support them when they don't pander to you!11!". I've noticed one can't win with this part of the gaming community when it comes to minorities asking for a little bit more room, because it bothers them when we do.
Edit: I mean, look at Jane's rift lore, it strongly highlighted her struggle as a latina going against stereotypes, and most of the forums had a meltdown because they had to face like... a small facet of the latino reality for more than 5 minutes. 'It's too beaten over the head' is just their way to say they're not comfortable with Jane facing a common reality in her industry as a woman of colour irl.

- Have "unsafe" mean that a survivor was hit by the killer shortly after being unhooked. No more using BT to pretend it was a safe unhook.
- Injure the unhooker when the unhooked survivor is unsafely unhooked. If the unhooked was already injured, put 'em in the dying state.
This would virtually eliminate unsafe unhooks. As a bonus, it'd also make survivors stop trying to unhook when killers are camping, so they'd use the actual counter (working on gens) and we'd see a decrease in camping as well.
This absolutely undoable at endgame scenarios whereas someone is being camped by a killer once the gates are almost open/open @ the second suggestion.
-
Guys the counter to phead is literally forcing him to hook. If you force him to hook by crouching by trails or refusing to get downed after torment by engaging another loop/getting downed before getting tormented, he won't be able to use his cage. I just wish PH cages didn't undo weaker hook save based perks like WGLF and We're gonna make it.

If you read the entire post, I said that Kate can be purchased with shards, but her perks aren't useful, and I have no intention on playing her.
The problem here is that it's a self imposed paywall, the only other way to getting Kate is through money if not auric cells/shards. There is no force in it whatsoever, if you want the piece of lore so bad, what is 9k shards and maybe some leveling here and there?

And no mither lets you get up as many times as you want
everyone here knows that no mither means the dudes gettin tunneled out of the game, lets not be dishonest with ourselves now. better solutions are just plain unbreakable and for the people once you heal up

I like the deathslinger, he makes chases interesting, although I would give him a louder TR if not a bigger one. His TR starting with borderline silence is weird.

Only at "kill all survivors at all costs" master challenges since i have to guarantee all kills.
-
Killer challenges are almost too easy, meanwhile with survivors it's hard to rely on others
-
I must disagree with all present, I think Jane's lore was one of the best written so far, David's was super lacking because really, just another douche doing douche things because he had a bad childhood, really? But I found Kate's to be lacking, although the video of her managing to escape the entity's grasp was at least a little interesting.

you know, players have been using these kind of settings since 2016, it's not even banable and it's to change simple basic settings devs are lazy to inplement in-game?
also ######### exploit for changing game settings? no lmao
As has been proven before, there are changes that can be made through the anti-aliasing that aren't intended for the game, I would bother with researching a little rather than simply denying it next time. Developers did not intend to lock the anti-aliasing some way if there weren't any issues with it. Issues they are looking into.
-
I would not recommend meddling with the configurations in the game, it sounds dangerous and it is known people have turned the Anti Aliasing all the way down to exploit a few things. So I would recommend being extremely careful and probably spreading this information has good intentions but it might get used wrongly by other users.
-
There are tunnel scenarios whereas DS is not even that useful, I've been chased for more than a whooping 2 minutes, fresh out of the hook, by a killer and DS would not be able to help me there, since I was only downed way past it's time limit. Is it powerful now? Yes, is it infallible? Hell no. And it's an one time deal, therefore it can't really get abused and once eaten success or not, it's gone forever and you're officially running with only 3 perks to your name now.
-
Don't mind the low level i recently p2'd. I call this look "Off to the races." Because it's the one I use to be chase bait.

Hello,
don´t get me wrong but in my opinion the Gentimes are still a Problem. I can understand if devs saying we doesn´t want a m1 simulator and i also can understand devs going a careful way, but look at the fixes. We talking about 1% and that´s nothing.
Even as it stands, the last time they gathered data, survivors (yes even the sweaty sfws) had less than 50% chance of survival, which descended slowly as the less players collaborates together as survivors.
What I want to ask is, how impossible are we willing to make the game to be survived through by survivors for the sake of giving low mobility killers(that often have things that compensates for it) to have a guaranteed win?

Tru3 has uploaded many videos where he has 3-4k'd and still ends up getting a black pip. If you want your evidence i'd suggest checking his multiple videos showing it
Possibly because he lacks on kicking gens, hurting multiple survivors, slowing the game down instead of rushing a 4k in 5 minutes. That's the price you pay for not "feeding" the entity with a rollercoaster of emotions properly
-
@emptyCups said:
smaller maps... means the survivors can get to gens faster now... it's huge survivor buff
In smaller maps you can just aim with the mouse and press w to find survivors on gens. Indeed, smaller maps makes that much easier, I do not understand the source of complaint.

@Rivyn said:
Keys are meant to end the match sooner than it should/may have. If you go in with one, then chances are, you expect to be able to use it. Usually with a coordinated SWF. While I won't face camp you, I will tunnel you to ensure that key isn't used.
It's similar to a mori in that regard. Both are meant to end the game sooner than anticipated. Different ways of going about it, but the end effect remains the same.
Except that there are no true ways to counter a mori, keys have responses that don't even demand a mori.

I thought they spawned pretty close together too. I agree with getting the 2-3 gens closest to each other, although it can be difficult if the Killer keeps pressure on em.
I'm sorry people have tried to derail your topic of discussion and strats sharing with flame wars, they're oddly often the same crowd that would tell survivors to just adapt.
Nonetheless, I've been using spine chill in every survivor because it just became a hard counter to everything, mainly if I pair it with urban evasion/fixated which allows me to move away quickly without leaving scratches.
-
I've noticed that gens have been spawning too close together in some maps, if you get the opportunity to, the best move is to bloom out the repairing of the generators, first fix the odd 3 that are too close together in the center, and then move onto the others.

Wish I got more chats like that, mainly because it's always nice to grow a collection of salty post game chats.
That doesn't feel like a very positive collection, I'd prefer to steer away from other's people salt or trying to derive pleasure from it.
-
50% of the games I give someone the hatch, 25% I let 2 survivors live after 2 dies/dcs. 25% of the time everyone dies (or at least in my mind they should since I'm a bad killer and cant get 4k easily). However that is assuming that they aren't being mean as survivors.
If they're being mean everyone is getting hooked.
-
@Deadeye said:
Someone mentioned once a "stacked" map design. Like in the first part, you need to finish 2 of 3 gens, to unlock another part of the map. Then again 2 of 3 and in the last part 1 of 3 gens.
Would allow to better control map size and keep more action in chases and gen protection. Of course I would not want all maps to be redesigned like this. Not getting 3gen'd by default and protecting a 3gen area are two key things killers and survivors can take care of and would be a bit baby mode if controlled like that, but at least an interesting idea to test on a single new map maybe
Then it wouldn't even be a game most survivors could win if the map size on the first part would only be a 3rd of the sizes we have as of now. it'd be death simulator.
-
It would be too much in my opinion, she is fine as is.

Perhaps the longer they linger in the open gates the more points they lose toward emblems and BP Penalty as well?
Wouldn't work, when I'm at the gate I linger to make sure all survivors have made out, the less survivors are in the game the harder it is to late game help or rescue someone else, in cases whereas theres only 2 survivors left, if one is downed it is nigh impossible to help them.
Just a penalty on crouching repeatedly at the gates would already do quite well, I believe.
-
I think Overheating would have to be a hex for all the benefits it brings the killer (information plus some amount of delay to generators)
-
This kind of purpose for a thread that implies actual maliciousness towards any side of the players really doesn't do good for the health of the community, which is already very poor.
