Problem solved.
Welcome to 2020 :)

I think you need to take a break man.

It would be be so fun to have a circus theme map where the entire map is a carnival or mirror maze. I hate that they made the map from Nurses’ template.
I also felt a bit cheated when they made Plague’s map the same template as Huntresses’. Just doesn’t fit. I was expecting an entire desert temple.
Oh same here man. I saw the huntress map with a weird temple in the middle of it. I could see the whole aztec concept, but not with the forest layout.

It has the cart, some circus machines and and it literally plays clown music
So like I said above, its a seed sharing another template and not a clown specific map.
See my example listed above: Hag got the swamp
Clown shares the template with another seed.
So... yeah.

@Archimedes5000 said:
Isnt the Chapel map or whatever its called Clown themed map? But full circus/amusement park with mirror maze would be cool
Is it? It doesn't really fit anything about the clown. The clown has this little murder cart with a zombie horse, but that was about it I thought.

Or maybe a mirror maze
Holy #########, can you imagine the jump scare factor? I still flinch when some players catch me off guard.

I'm just posting because see a lot on the forums that people throw the well Streamer can do this and that so you should be able to do to.
I really don't want to get into ruin because that's beating a dead horse. But I just keep seeing people telling killers or even survivor well so in so streamer does well so why you crying get good..
Well guess what ? Most of us have Jobs and don't have the time to invest in this game like the streamers we watch. Most play the game for living. It's like comparing a Professional basketball players to the miner league players.
A multiplayer game concept as simple Dbd shouldn't cost someone high blood pressure. Lol True story.
Point being not everyone has time to become God Killers. No offense to my survivor friends I know many don't have time to master survivor either.
To be honest I think the days of casual play is over for the killer role and is never coming back. Either play sweaty or Play for fun and depip and get message Ez Every game. Sorry for being a little salty. I play red rank killer so don't say I am noob. I only play 2hrs a day if I'm lucky.
FYI - I dont think this game needs a post game chat lobby at all. It's pointless and offers very little to the game experience itself. I think eliminating that dumpster fire of a chat box would solve a lot of the toxicity issues.
-
I'd say he's a high B / A still. I rank killers on their map presence. The Doctor has map presence, but its pretty small compared to killers I put in S tier: Billy, Spirit, Nurse.
-
I love seeing killers defending these combinations.
These are the same folks crying about the Ruin balance and crying about DS/AD/BT.

@Proxi said:
What about making killers pip when 4k and survivors not pip when only holding m1 the entire game?
Any of you devs plays killer at rank1? 4 minute matches are NOT fun..
R2 killer / R1 Survivor here:
This entire game is based around M1. Be thankful the killers have distorted hit boxes (M1) which allows for hits that should never land (5 meters from a vault, for example), are free to roam and require far less tedious objectives than what survivors have to contend with.
Sitting on a generator for 120 seconds on average while you're maintaining awareness on which killer perk set you'll have to contend with is far easier for me than when I'm putting pressure on survivors.

No, they are doing pretty good job. Sound's never been better, game is perfectly optimized for every system, dedicated servers are amazing, great matchmaking and most important no bugs. The game's in great state.
I play on a PC. Most of the issues you're having I can't relate to.
This game was designed for PCs and from what I understand, converting to consoles is no easy task.

I like how they put "game health in there"😂. That was a good one lol
I mean, they continue to grow their game with changes, new mechanics, new content to such an extent they continue to grow development and investors.
I've been playing since D1 release.
The game was amazing then and is amazing now.
Just because you're not tickled with a few elements doesn't change the reality that Behavior is doing a very good job overall.

@Hero_awesome said:
Not expecting a roadmap with how they have destroyed the game for killers. And made ranking up even worse cause they won't fix matchmaking.
That's nice dear.

This game works like something of an addiction, it's kind of by design. It's not surprising that it has that affect on those who play it the most, it's like you know you probably should leave it alone after a while but something compels you to come back to it.
The best games get you hooked like heroin!
Nothing says "well done" quite like a dopamine loop!
-
The problem with this concept of "Gen Rushing" is purely in the definition. No one will be able to find a suitable definition of what "rushing" is defined as.
Some will say "Gen Rushing" is finishing generators in ( x amount of minutes) or running multiple generators in (x amount of minutes then completing all at the same time).
Then you have to account for the mechanics of certain killers.
Then you have to account for the mechanics of perks.
Then you have to account for the mechanics of offerings.
Then you have to account for the mechanics of items.
Then you have to account for the mechanics of the maps.
Then you have to account for the mechanics of the objectives.
Essentially, addressing any definition of "gen rushing" would translate to an entirely re-worked game in order to maintain balance.
-
@bilaueta said:
Your idea seems pretty logical and reasonable, specially since the logic of high ranks being for great players makes a lot of sense
The only problem I see is that your idea is based on competitive games and their ranking systems, and this game is based in rng and player's behaviour too much for it to be a viable system
If you kill 4 survivors with a mori, are you a great player or does it make you loose points as if you were a bad player? If you get facecamped on first hook, are you a bad player? If you run the killer around for 4 minutes and no one does a single gen, are you not rewarded for looping the killer? If you encounter a 4 man swf with toolboxes and get genrushed, ending the game in five minutes are you a terrible killer?
Yeah for sure, the nuance of the human element would definitely be difficult to account for; but I imagine there would be some kind of formula you could create and centralize the algorithm around "time played in match" vs "Chase time / environmental interactions / mechanics initiated" to ensure the person being measured is active rather than riding coat tails.
It would take a lot of work, but I think there could be some meat on the bone with at least partial implementation. I would think they'd have to come up with a population distribution of sorts anyway, since they're crafting their own MMR system.

Interesting, what kind of physiological responses are they experiencing?
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1061521#Comment_1061521
DBD is pretty softcore compared to other horror games, i dont think its about that.
Maybe people on this forum are speaking in hyperbole for melodramatic effect, but it's not uncommon to see people write:
"I'm "furious / disgusted / depressed" with ( x ) change ... "
"The difference between this game play and other game plays is "frightening / nauseating / infuriating"
Just keep an eye out for those kinds of descriptions and you'll see what I'm talking about.
-
There appear to be a lot of people commenting about their physiological responses to this game when they play. I'm becoming quite concerned for the overall health of this player base.

Right here. Demogorgon was Chapter 13, and Oni was Chapter 14. We have yet to see Chapter 15, and then they'll do their next roadmap in late May or early June.
Ahhh ok, I see. I was expecting them to follow the fiscal calendar.
-
I end all matches with a "gg. Gl hf" - no matter what role I'm in.
The post chat box is worthless for any other reason other than for good sportsmanship.
-
I accept your bait and enjoyed it. I'd like more bait please.
-
No.
Because a lot of killers / survivors come here complaining about things that are non issues. If the individuals were actually as good as they thought, their complaints wouldn't exist.
Therefore streamers are a good resource and barometer for people to reference.

Then you must not like many of your own posts in this thread. None of them are nuanced nor are they unbiased. In fact, after reading this thread, it seems as if you feel entitled to express your opinion while ignoring others.
If you are so adamant about people not being able to change your mind, why post this thread in the first place? You talk about others not offering anything to the discussion, yet you’ve done the same.
So here again, I really don't care what you think :)
But you're welcome to share your diatribe all you'd like. I don't mind.

Yeah that's because most streamer get to play the game more that's why. I work 12hrs a day so how I am suppose invest all my time trying to be pro. I'm not complaining but you can't use the streamer excuse most play The for a living so.
No crap they're real good. What about player who only play 1-6 games a Day. I'm a red rank killer in I get burnt out after play 2 to 4 sweaty games in the role.
Honestly, this right here is why I think Red Ranks should be significantly harder to achieve. Like the Starcraft ranking system, Red Ranks should be considered "Grand Master" - in order to help avoid the burnout factor you're talking about.

If your games are more challenging now, could that also be caused by more potato teammates being pushed to rank 1? The people who use to have gen phobia and would urban evade around the map looking for ruin until they die... are ranking up and joining your lobby. Them going down quickly doesn't necessarily mean the killers are better, but is likely a mixture of both.
As far as not caring about other opinions... If you flag your post and tell a mod to close it after making your initial post, you won't be bugged with notifications that you don't care to read and noone will confuse your intentions in thinking you wanted feedback.
Let me rephrase:
I care very little for opinions that lack nuance or come off as entitled / emotionally imbalanced. There are several who offer absolutely nothing to these conversations and have a thread history of behaving exactly like Calabrum.
That being said, my opinion and observations won't change; so arguing with me is pointless. I did however appreciate your perspective.
-
@Calabrum said:

No need to speculate further. He has no facts to back his argument other than his own observations. His opinion is biased and has no care or consideration for other people's opinion even if a logical point is made against him. In short it's pointless and he's a waste of time even considering. He can continue to troll as he likes, but I'm done with this thread.
Took a while for you to get the hint that you're not entitled to anything from me. I don't care if you agree and I don't care if you like my opinion.
What YOU wanted out of this is not my problem and I have zero interest in catering to you. I'm glad you finally got the hint and are leaving the thread. You offered extremely little to this conversation.
-
These kinds of questions are precisely why I never wanted things to be free by using in game currency.
It attracts all sorts of entitled personalities that tend to ruin games.
-
This thread has run its course for me.

@Calabrum said:

So your biased. Good to know.
Being biased and uninterested in the diatribe from the unwashed masses with their lack of nuance are two different things.
:)

I do not need to consider further. He stated he would ignore others opinions. If he has heard it all before why bother making a thread. Why do you care anyway?
Your opinion is irrelevant to me.
But that hasn't stopped you from sharing it though, has it?
Fascinating.

Why bother to make a forum post if your just going to ignore everyone's opinion? Your pretty much just trolling.
I'm not interested in your opinion or if people agree with me or not.
You're not entitled to be taken seriously by me either.
I made a post with my own observation and some disagreed / didn't like it. That's not my problem either.
There's absolutely zero nuance in the responses contradicting me anyway, so since I've made this post; I feel even more adamant that I'm correct in my stance.

Oh, I am not sensitive at all. Just curious on why someone would take the extra time to reach out and harass someone even more. I play on console, there are extra steps involved to actually message someone. It is just frustrating, I know I am not good, but I am getting matched up against survivors I can't beat, then the messages are that little extra kick to make game not as fun.
Ooooh you're on console? Yeah that does seem pretty extra to be petty. The player base in DBD has attracted a lot of garbage personalities since they made the content "Free" through grinding.
-
@Cronk said:
Have you tried appearing offline?
I'm sorry, I do not understand. Mind elaborating?
-
Its amazing to me how many sensitive players spend their time playing a game where the objective is to viciously murder people.
-
@NullEXE said:
Being able to balance the game is good, but idk what red ranks you've been playing but the place is a mess right now. I'm getting out of games as survivor in like 5 minutes or less, and the rest of the time the Killer DC's. Then I wait for a 20 minute que.
I play earlier in the day / evening.
I encounter what you're describing later in the evening around midnight and later. The later the evening, the more butthurt and unstable the player base is for this game and pretty much all other games.
-
"Survivors shouldn't get offerings"
Hahahha- what???
-
NOED & DS
They're both training wheel perks that reward poor performance.
-
@TDR said:
Yeah 5 gen for 4 min so perfect. Now this is a toilet phone game. Killers must sweat while you play for fun. Yes Yes.
Already whining about the waiting time for the survivor. Further, the crisis will only grow.

One could also argue if you depended on DS, Adren, BT, toolboxes and headsets then you probably aren't 1/4 as good as you think you are. Yet this rule only seems to apply to killers and not survivors.
Fun fact, I don't use DS, Adren or BT.
For the same reasons I never used ruin as a killer (R2 currently).
Training wheels create bad habits and are difficult to change.
-
Translation:
Lots of egos are still bruised because they refuse to find a way to play better. Lots of entitled players think they deserve to be R1-3 because they've clocked a lot of hours in the game.
Spoiler Alert: if you depending on Ruin to get you that far and you refuse to adjust, you probably aren't half as good as you're convinced you are.
The re-work was brilliant for the rest of us. The re-work has created an entire new meta and opened up a wide array of combos that make the game more challenging and exciting for both survivors and killers.
There's nothing that will change my mind, so arguing with me is pointless.
-
@Calabrum said:
The ruin change was done too early. In addition, it was handled and addressed poorly by the devs. While it may seem like you are seeing more exceptional killers, the facts are that they are most likely sweating to death to try and win.
Killers do not want that kind of match every match every time they play.
You mean trying hard to stay in the top ranks is now a "thing"?
When I was Grandmaster ranked in Starcraft, there was never a "casual stroll with my training wheels on" like the players in this game seem to think they're entitled to.
You want that red rank? Sweat for it.
-
Not a single Fog Whisperer that I watch on Twitch shares any of your complaints. The other red rank killers on stream, also do not share any of these "complaints."
These forums are a good barometer for hubris being higher than skill and it's relatively easy to pinpoint what ego looks like when its been rebalanced to match the skill level.
-
@Hoodied said:
Yeah, not really
Ever since the ruin rework, I have been more enraged to play killer than ever. I will literally get a chase done and a gen or 2 pops, and hell, I removed ruin out of my loadout cause I don't wanna run loadouts that synergize.
If you ask me, playing survivor is now walking on a golden brick road, playing killer is like taking the worlds biggest gamble
Sounds like you really depended on ruin to rank up, which is the mistake a lot of R5-10 killers made.
I suggest you watch some streamers that are -actually- good and learn from them.
-
No issues so far.

steam charts show that the game technically failed. if you look at the all time stats you can see that the standart player base never goes over 20k for longer than a free weekend or a new killer. after new stuff it drops back to 20k.
Wrong. Try again.
-
Havent had any issues.
Looks like the only problem with the ruin rework is on the forums. This is non-peak play time, btw. January is already looking like it's going to be several thousand higher than Jan 2019.
-
I never needed training wheels, so I never used ruin. There are too many good perk combos that give you a better edge.
